Panic Room | Round 20

Published by Fozdaddy on

We are back for another Friday Panic Room!

We’re all out of trades at this point, so what’s the point of panicking? Wait… you’re not out of trades? How is this possible?

Before we get into it, our boy Azza is doing some wonderful work in the world of footy media. He’s started up ‘The Dub’, an AFLW specific website, dedicated to bringing you all the news on our great game. Go give it a follow for your boy, and yourself.

Let’s panic.

Newz you can Uze

Nat Fyfe comes out of the Fremantle side that will take on Melbourne, with Rory Lobb taking his place. Jake Lever comes in, as does Adam Tomlinson. Nothing super SuperCoach relevant here, unless you’re taking a Clarry/Andy VC. The two teams will be playing off for Luke Jackson, so there is one big hairy man on the line.

Collingwood has brought back Jordan De Goey for his first game in a while. Brody Mihocek is out injured, so it’ll be interesting to see if Darcy Cameron plays purely forward. Beware. Josh Carmichael has been dropped as the medi-sub, but he may get that vest again, while Dan Houston will miss for Port Adelaide after being concussed last week. Should only be a one-weeker. Lachie Jones replaces him, but outside of that, no real SuperCoach news.

A plethora of SuperCoach relevant news coming from the Giants camp for Saturday. Josh Kelly and Lachie Whitfield will return from their respective injuries, as will Harry Perryman. Tom Green has been recalled and Leek Aleer will debut. Kieran Briggs has been dropped (yay Preuss).

The Butler Brothers Cup (BBC) is on for its inaugural match (you never forget your first BBC). Sam Butler returns for Hawthorn, Dan Butler is in for Saints after signing a two-year extension, and I am moist. Dan Hannebery returns (lol), as does Changkuoth Jiath for Hawthorn.

Tom Stewart makes his return from his four week sore elbow injury. Jon Ceglar will also make his Cats debut, while Rhys Stanley is out and Zach Tuohy enters Covid protocols. Don’t be surprised if Dangerfield is a late out, plenty of reports (by me lol, shameless plug), about a sore back he was carrying all week. Barely trained on Tuesday and Thursday.

Friend of the podcast Marc Pittonet returns for the Blues this week, almost four months after suffering that nasty PCL injury. Love ya Pitsy.

Jack Bowes comes into the Gold Coast extended squad, as does Malcolm Rosas and debutant Mac Andrew. Nic Naitanui, Greg Clark, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Willie Rioli, Hugh Dixon, Jack Petruccelle and Zac Langdon are in line for potential recalls, while Alex Witherden and Josh Kennedy will miss.

Daniel Rich will miss Brisbane’s clash with Richmond, but Kiddy Coleman will make his return.

Oh Captain my Captain

Couple to choose from on Friday night. Clayton Oliver has been in impressive form, and was looking like putting up 200 last week before powering down in the second half. Still, 96 is his second worst score of the season. He put up 113 against the Dockers in round 11.

Andy Brayshaw wasn’t great last week, and with 100 against the Demons in round 11 he’s probably not the best option for a VC. In saying that, last week’s 79 was his worst score of the season. He’s the riskier play here.

Tom Stewart is back for the Cats, and is ready to explode. He was on 39 points against the Bulldogs before going out with concussion early in round 12, and at GMHBA Stadium he has scored 187, 122 and 174 this year.

Rory Laird is in some fine form, and he’ll face the Blues for the second time this season. He put up 123 points in round 8, and his recent run of form is electric: 140, 154, 125, 130, 156, 114, 136, 118, 105, 142, 123, 116, 123, 120, 143 and 93 way back in round 3. To have just one game under 100 points is incredible.

Touk Miller will face West Coast, and with Adam Simpson coming out in the week and confirming he had no plans to tag the Sun, makes him a promising Sunday pick. He scored 137 against the Eagles in round 1, and has only gone below 100 three times this season. Fresh off a 157, he’s a great pick.

Marcus Bontempelli has scored 161 and 181 in his past two games, and is coming up against the rampaging Cats. He scored 109 against Geelong, playing forward in round 12, and last season dropped 143 as well as 122 in 2020. He hasn’t scored below 108 since that Cats game in round 12, and has gone above 120 in four of the last six matches.

Best of luck to everyone with finals starting this week. Ended up making 3, holding Hewitt last week cost me a few games and saw me drop out of the top 8 in some leagues but happy to make some. Like many, I have Hewitt and Gresham to deal with this week so glad I have a few trades left. Just have to decide who to trade to as not much around Greshams price. Heres hoping the Supercoach Gods are kind to us all

Time to bring in Stewart!
but who for….Lloyd or Short guys?

Got a Hewett sized issue like most, with 5 trades to deal with it. The positive is i have 5 trades to deal with it, and Steven May currently sat at D7. Would you use 2 trades to turn hewett into stewart, which means i can loop short and may or not? Unfortunately 3k short of doing short – Stewart so Short lives unless its to someone else sub 560k. Is Hewett or Short more of a priority?

Rick Grimes

Go with two trades to Stewart. You can afford it.

5 trades left and could take two of these three this week- bont, laird, gawn, Stewart.
gawn and one other would help my team better overall, but honestly hard to pass up the opportunity to grab laird and bont in one go.

Didn’t trade at all last week as my cash league match was a dead rubber (I was finishing 3rd regardless), but am now seriously regretting not getting Culley in last week. Could have double upgraded this week, now it’s Culley for Rosas (highest value rookie) and Hewett for Stewart. Will still have Short, Darcy Cameron and Ridley with 3 trades left 🥴

DCameron to Gawn and Hewett or DRioli to Stewart. Leaves me with no RUC cover going forward and scant cover on each line.
Or .. trade out two non playing – MRioli to Gawn (Cameron becomes F7), and Hewitt to Zorko.. gives me cover and loop across all lines.

Is it worth using one of boost trades to trade Witts to Gawn. Leaves me with only one trade for next week if I make it through (no double chance). Otherwise, I will make the trade next week.

Bit late for that

Is Cog’s out?

Yep. A very late out. Being ‘managed’ – not sure what for since they are not playing finals this year. Was about to trade out Wehr but may now have to keep him and trade Cogs instead as I have no coverage in the midfield or forward line. Not sure what to do?

wow….cogs to himmelberg or Moore?

I missed it… just lucky I didn’t trade Stewart in.. as it turns out I ended up with (E) DCameron’s 113 for Cogs instead of a donut… 😅

Shake n bake

At the pies port game and hear cogs out already have Brodie as emg last night. I was using Hamilton as my loop. But l also have Martin on the pine if l have 2 on field not playing and 2 players with the emg on the Brodie and Martin will l get both scores?

Shake n bake

Cheers 🍻

Good score this week Shake

Shake n bake

Tnx Derek made 7 top 4 finishes so to have the bye in all those leagues with 4 trades left will be handy.

Treloar to English, Smith or Marshall. Dilemmas!

Marshall owners will be happy tonight. He was epic.

Tophawk has dropped the hammer.

Deafness (DM)

Cogs to Smith didn’t go well. Could have gotten more points using Macdonald lmao

Bazlenka just uses the ball so poorly. It is infuriating. 59SC after 21 pozzies…..I had him before he was suspended. Never considered getting him back after that.

I almost brought him in as cover but held off…that also meant I held off Gulden and Marshall…soooo that wasn’t fun

Merrett or Neale as Capt ????

Geez what a weekend for finals. Didn’t have time to look. Mind everywhere else. Up 160 think 2-1 player should be fine…. Only to see bloody Aaron Hall is out??? WTF…….

We’ll what a weekend, 2581 and up to 6th overall. I haven’t contributed to the site over the last couple of years but the advice and input has been invaluable. To add to everything I’m UK based. Thanks all and keep up the great work!

All I can say is 👏
6th overall AND in the UK. I REPEAT 👏
Best of luck for the remaining rounds Dan.

Well done and best of luck for the last few rounds. WIll watch with interest to see where you finish

GO DAN! Killing it
