Around the Grounds – Round 19

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Hello community and welcome to another week of Around the Grounds. 19 rounds have been done and dusted and that means 4 remain. That also means that Supercoach Finals are here! It can be a difficult time of the year for Supercoach as some sides out of finals contention look to experiment with their side or send some players off to get prepared for next year, while dropping others to give more inexperienced players a look. Random selection changes can absolutely wreak havoc with a side! Hopefully you’ve managed to save a few trades in the bank for this final run to round out 2022 and don’t get caught in any selection pickles. As usual we’ll cover off the goings on for Round 19 as well as the various state league side, then go look at the best trade in options for this week.

Victoria

Collingwood

Jamie Elliot won this one at the siren for the Pies, with Collingwood defeating Essendon 80-76. Nick Daicos (DEF/MID, $562,400) had 21 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles and 79 SCPoints. Slightly below what we’d of hoped for, but it was a weird Supercoach game for the Pies with their highest score (Josh Daicos) being 90 for the game. Ashley Johnson (FWD, $123,900) kicked 3 goals with 6 disposals and 4 marks for 61 SCPoints. He’s not finding a ton of it, but if he can snag a few goals, he’ll score OK. Josh Carmichael (MID/FWD, $139,500) came on as the sub with 17% ToG and had 5 disposals, 2 marks and 2 goals for 33 SCPoints. You probably couldn’t ask for a bigger impact from someone coming in to a game at the stage he did. Trent Bianco (FWD, $234,000) had 13 disposals, 2 marks and 6 tackles for 77 SCPoints, Jack Ginnivan (FWD, $267,200) had 5 disposals, 2 marks and 3 tackles for 34 SCPoints and Nathan Murphy (MID, $294,300) finished with 10 disposals and 3 marks for 60 SCPoints.

Geelong

This one looked over at half-time, but it was somehow flipped in the 3rd quarter and become a close one headed into the 4th, but Geelong still managed to have a 106-94 win over Port Adelaide. Melbourne

The Demons had the lead at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters, but lost it in the most important one, going down to the Western Bulldogs 110-100. They did not feature any rookie priced players in this one.

Tom Stewart is the popular man on campus this week, returning from suspension just in time to be a popular replacement for the injured George Hewett who has already been confirmed will miss this week with his back injury. Jai Culley is the popular rookie priced man being brought in while we’re still seeing Jack Steele, Rory Laird and Marcus Bontempelli as popular options for people finalizing their teams into the SC finals.

And that’ll be it for me this week, as usual you can reach me on the Twitter @BarronVonCrow or you can leave a question/comment in the section below. See you all next week!
