Around the Grounds – Round 11

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Hello community, welcome to another week of Around the Grounds. Round 11 is in the books, which means the dreaded “B” word has arrived. It’s not bears, beets or Battlestar Galactica, it’s those pesky bye rounds! It’ll be the best of 18 with our teams this week, along with having 3 trades available without needing to use a boost. Carlton, Essendon, GWS, Port Adelaide, Richmond and St Kilda are all off this week, so they will perhaps be where we see our trades focused this week. So first up we’ll review the Round 11 rookie performances and then go look at trades, break evens and what trades are going on. So let’s get cracking!

Victoria

Collingwood

The match went down to the wire, but the Pies managed to hang on to a 79-75 win over Carlton. Nathan Murphy (MID, $243,300, BE 23) had 14 disposals, 7 marks and 3 rebound 50’s for 80 SCPoints, Oliver Henry (FWD, $275,200, BE 26) scored 53 SCPoints from 10 disposals, 4 marks, 6 clangers and 3 goals, Jack Ginnivan (FWD, $307,800, BE 91) had 9 disposals, 5 marks and 2 behinds for 25 SCPoints and Nick Daicos (DEF/MID, $363,600, BE 90) had 16 disposals and 3 tackles for 59 SCPoints. The Pies will play in Round 12, but is running with a 3 round average of 64.3 SCPoints and hasn’t scored above 80 since Round 4, so looks to have a price-drop on the cards if you keep him, though he is playing against Hawthorn, which might be an easier game for the Pies.

Collingwood had a 109-54 to Werribee in their VFL match. Finlay Macrae (MID, $206,800) had 28 disposals, 3 marks and 4 tackles, Aiden Begg (RUC, $148,500) had 20 disposals, 2 marks, 7 tackles and 19 hitouts, Reef McInnes (MID, $165,100) kicked 2.1 with 15 disposals, 5 marks and 6 tackles and Liam McMahon (FWD, $123,900) had 21 disposals, 5 marks and 2 tackles.

Mitch Owens (MID, $117,300, BE -22) returned to the team and had a good game with 14 disposals, 3 marks, 10 tackles and 2 goals for 89 SCPoints. He probably won’t boot 2 goals every game, but if he can get 14 touches and a bunch of tackles he could still score well. Bobby Hill (FWD, $190,800, BE 21) had 6 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles and a goal for 30 SCPoints. Rucks look to be on the card this week and with good reason, given Sam Hayes and Braydon Preuss are on their bye rounds and we also have Sean Darcy and Max Gawn at really good prices, as well as Tim English just coming back from injury and pumping out a huge score in Round 11. We’ve also got a few rookies like Josh Gibcus and Nick Daicos being moved on who look to have peaked as well as Isaac Heeney being moved out a bit due to some poor scoring from him. Luke Strnadica has been traded in quite a lot, he may not be playing, but given the lack of rucks that would be from people looking to maximize how much cash they’re banking from selling off a Hayes or Preuss.

And that’ll be it for me this week, as usual you can reach me on the Twitter @BarronVonCrow or you can leave a question/comment in the section below. See you all next week!
