Panic Room | Round 7

Published by Fozdaddy on

This is a sad time to be a dedicated SuperCoach coach. There is carnage in every line, players dropping like flies and there just isn’t enough trade boosts you can have to fix all the problems.

This Panic Room is not about fixing your team, it’s about panicking and getting ready for a sub 1800 score.

Newz you can Uze

Who isn’t out this week?

West Coast will host Richmond on Friday night in Perth, with Greg Clark ($117k MID) to debut. Jeremy McGovern and Sam Petrevski-Seton will also come back, while Elliot Yeo, Zac Langdon, Bailey Williams and Luke Foley will all miss. Richmond bring in Dylan Grimes, Kane Lambert, Maurice Rioli, Ivan Soldo and Sydney Stack, while Trent Cotchin and Robbie Tarrant were managed and Thomson Dow is injured. Rhyan Mansell, Matt Parker and Jack Ross have all been dropped.

Geelong has gone into its clash with Fremantle unchanged, which means Pat Dangerfield will miss a second game and Ollie Dempsey will play a second game. Sean Darcy and Matt Taberner will miss through respective one-week injuries, while Lloyd Meek and Josh Treacy will return in their place.

Cooper Hamilton ($102k MID/FWD) will make his debut for the Giants against Adelaide on Saturday. He was selected in the rookie draft and broke GWS’s 2km time trial record in his second week at the club. Jesse Hogan will also return, while Tanner Bruhn and Jake Stein were dropped. Adelaide has not made any changes.

The Demons have copped a bit of Covid concerns, with Luke Jackson, Harrison Petty, Kysaiah Pickett and Tom Sparrow all missing, while Jake Lever, Tom McDonald and Jack Viney will come back into the side. Jackson Callow ($123k FWD) comes in for his debut as a key forward and back up ruck, so don’t expect massive scores but as a Hawks fan I do love Buckets. Lachie Bramble also comes in, while Denver Grainger-Barrass and Josh Ward has been managed and Finn Maginness was dropped.

Paddy Ryder and Tom Campbell have come in to replace Rowan Marshall and Jack Hayes for St Kilda, while Port has not made any changes. If you have Jack Hayes, trade him after his ACL injury was confirmed.

George Hewett has been confirmed as an out after a calf corkie, while Marc Pittonet will miss 10-12 weeks with a PCL injury. Jordan Boyd, Matt Cottrell, Will Setterfield and Luke Parks are all missing from the Blues’ lineup, while Matt Kennedy, Jack Silvagni, Lochie O’Brien and Liam Stocker will return. Aiden Bonar, Callum Coleman-Jones and Jaidyn Stephenson come into North’s lineup to replace Atu Bosenavulagi, Ben McKay and Tristan Xerri.

Brodie Grundy will miss three months with a PCL injury, with Mason Cox and Aiden Begg tipped to replace him. Nathan Kreuger will also miss, while Trent Bianco, Tyler Brown and Ollie Henry coming into the squad. Josh Corbett and Wil Powell will miss with injury, while Jy Farrar, Jack Lukosius, Darcy MacPherson, Malcolm Rosas and Rory Atkins will come back into the squad.

The Dogs have dropped Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Anthony Scott will miss with HS Protocols, while Hayden Crozier, Roarke Smith, Jordan Sweet, Laitham Vandermeer and Mitch Wallis come into the squad. Essendon has not made a change yet.

Paddy McCartin will miss Sydney’s clash with Brisbane after being subbed out last week with concussion concerns. Will Gould has been brought into the squad, but he doesn’t actually exist, while Tom Papley, Sam Reid, Callum Sinclair and Dylan Stephens come into the squad as well. Kai Lohmann will miss for Brisbane, with Nakia Cockatoo is tipped to replace him.

When a heart break, it don’t Breakeven

What am I s’posed to do, when the best part of me is owning you?

-97 Sam Hayes

-71 Malcolm Rosas

-46 Brayden Preuss

-25 Ollie Dempsey

-13 Connor Rozee

What am I s’posed to say, when you’re losing cash when I have you stay?

204 Jake Lever

157 Ollie Wines

157 Marcus Bontempelli

152 Jack Macrae

150 Tim Taranto

Oh Captain my Captain

Max Gawn has gone 170+ twice in his last three against Hawthorn, and is rucking against Max Lynch and Jackson Callow. He will be the sole ruck, with Luke Jackson out. Clayton Oliver is another great option off the back of his 168 last week. Two of his last three scores against Hawthorn have also been 170+, while Christian Petracca has not dropped below 100 against Hawthorn in his past three, with a top score of 160. See a trend?

Jack Macrae’s lowest score against Essendon in his past three hit outs was 122, while Josh Dunkley is fresh off a 142 and dropped a 153 against the Bombers in 2019.

Wheres the cheat sheet. Can’t decide on Gawn donut or Sicily/Dale/Vlaustin and Hayes 😐

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Gawn and donut.

Ray

Looking to move on either Rachelle and Horne-Francis, can only do one.
Rachelle to Rowell
OR
JHF to Luke Parker
OR throw out the above and trade out Whitfield for Witherden
TIA!

Last edited 26 days ago by Ray
Matty C

I have Rowell but I don’t think he’s a trade in target as he’s not a keeper. Out of those options, I’d go JHF to Parker as I think Parker should be a top 6 forward.

Rick Grimes

Don’t get Rowell. Parker the one out of those. Not convinced Witherden scores as well with McGovern back. He’s a wait and see and too exy.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

JHF to Parker. Do not, I repeat, do not, trade Rowell in.

SamuraiPizzaCat

Absolute carnage this round.

I think I’m going with:

Hayes to Hayes
Grundy to Preuss
Xerri to Petracca

Defence looking shaky with O’Driscoll, Gibcus and De Koning all on field. Hewett and McCartin not playing on the bench.

Rick Grimes

I have the same lineup of superstars on field. Gibcud actually looked good last week. Gee whiz, another ton from him would be sweet candy. O’Driscoll fluctuates between excellent and dross. De Koning is solid for 50-60. All in all, not good.

SamuraiPizzaCat

I’m sure Gibcus will be back to 50s now that we need him on field again!

TRIGGA HAPPY

Time to panic!
8
Count em 8 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩
Need to trade in some coverage and then 🙏 to the SC gods no late outs!

Yikes.

Russty_

Bit of a nightmare this week mate, there’s gonna be a lot of fluctuating scores out there this week depending on how many outs people have and who’s backing them up.

Rick Grimes

I should field 22 but I’m nervous on my Demon assets. Any late outs and I’m cooked.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I’m treating this as if the bye rounds started early, but without the 18 on field concession.

TRIGGA HAPPY

Got no choice mate.
8 outs.
Bye round it is. 😧

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

6 outs and 2 emergency, plus my non playing rookie loop.

SchittSangers

You’ll get fat. 8 is too many donuts even for Homer

Kat

I can field a full team but my only backup is Hayes in the Ruck and a few questionable rookies on field. any more outs and I am in trouble

The Ranger

Yeah same, just about scraped a 22 with Durdin my only bench player and he doesn’t count. Gonna loop him and De Koning just ‘cos I can.

holty01

I feel your pain Trigga

Maverick

Shaping up too be a fun week!
Grundy, Darcy, cotchin, marshall Dixon, McCartin, xerri, JHayes, Hewett, pittonet, Jackson, kozi, hinge and ward for all different reasons are unnamed a some being more relevant than others but still now with de goey & WH-E coming down with gastro a potentially late outs…
As well as trying too navigate our way through JHF and racheles high break evens.. hopefully there are not too many more Melbourne players struck down with covid before Saturday night.

SchittSangers

Jack Carroll also debuting for blues, keep an eye on him he could be a good downgrade in a couple of weeks

Matty C

Vlaustuin – worth a punt? Is he benefiting from Houli retirement or just two good games? Will his scoring go down this week with Tarrant out of the side?

Rick Grimes

I think he’s worth a punt. His ceiling is huge. It’s always been the basement that is concerning. With no Houli I think that rises. So overall he’s a decent POD for sure.

VossTheBoss

If it was ever the week for the supercoach rollercoaster boys to step up, this is the week
Odriscoll, Gibcus, JHF, SDK, Rosas all playing on the field for me

Russty_

Let’s hope they all post something decent

Russty_

Are the Sunday benches named today?

Shake n bake

Yes

Kat

Usually around 5.30pm AEST I think

Shake n bake

5

Russty_

Cheers thanks guys

Russty_

Yay! Rosas is on the interchange bench

TRIGGA HAPPY

Gouldy didn’t make it. 😜

Russty_

That’s coz he’s only a myth lol

SchittSangers

I am expecting an absolute monster game from Cripps this week as he shows his understudy how good he is and also makes up for Hewett.
200+ is on the cards against a Kangas midfield that would still look soft if they were up against the opals

Russty_

Yeah tough week to choose the C, Gawn and Oliver could do the same against the Hawks

Or Witts against Mihocek and Cameron
Are you picking Cripps?

Last edited 26 days ago by Russty_
SchittSangers

Oliver VC and if he scores less than 140 I will roll the dice on Cripps, maybe he’ll pay me back for being C when he pulled out after Q1

Shake n bake

Begg

Russty_

Yeah saw that, they initially had Mihocek named as ruck lol, think Witts will dominate that one.

Nathan

I hope you’re right SchittSanga. Although, I think his game has actually allowed Crippa to get some more outside game going. Looking forward to seeing what Carroll can do in Hewitts place… I assumed Kemp, Stocker or even Dow would be first ups for an opportunity. So this Carroll kid might be the real deal

Nathan

(first up for an opportunity if a MIDFIELD spot became available)

SchittSangers

Carrol was taken late in his draft year due to injuries and has been developing nicely in between covid and more injuries. Very tough, very evasive and very composed in traffic. If he hollds together he’ll suprise a lot of people

Nathan

And apparently Cripps has taken him under his wing… so he is learning from one of the best beasts in the game. I’ll be watching him with interest

Andrew

Cripps or witherden? Effectively for Grundy

Wait one week for Cripps? shouldn’t go up too much with 100+ be
Is witherden the new Lloyd? Absolute seagull in a bad team or can’t trust it?

Nathan

Great signs from Witherden, but I trust in Cripps more. He is on fire and is playing the Kangas. In his 4 full games has gone 132, 162, 119 and 139. In his injury affected game he went offf at 1/4 time and was on 38… on track for at least 120+. Regardless, add in Cripps’ injury affect score and he is still outscoring Witherden. BUT… Witherden is a defender and is tracking better each week. So I think this might be better decided by which line you need the extra scoring stability

Russty_

Cripps, McGovern is back this week

ST1974

My options this week are as follows:
1) McCartin to Rosas (via De Koning DPP) and JHF to one of Green, Petracca, Cripps, Parker or Cerra
2) JHF to Callaghan or Hobbs and McCartin to Broad, Houston or L Ryan.
3) McCartin to Rosas (via De Koning DPP), keep JHF for another week and go early by trading Hough to Dempsey or Clark.
Appreciate any advice or thoughts.
Thanks.

Nathan

Option 1 for me. Just not Cerra from that lot. All the others are great options. Green is super impressive, but I just dont trust Cameron with his role. Plus I want to see how Greene being back affects their overall mix. But the kid is a beast and looks like he can score no matter where he is playing. Its a lottery as to who will have the highest average score from that lot by years end

Matt

Assistance needed. My rucks stocks are ruined. I have traded out St Kilda Hayes out for port Hayes. I have Grundy and English as well so trade out Grundy for Gawn?
The rest of my field has no chance to make movement as Hewett, sinn, MCCartin, hinge, ward, and Jackson (melb) are all out. Unless I do a third trade to upgrade Jackson or rachele?

Rick Grimes

Gawn yes. I’d be getting rid of one of Sinn or Hinge. Can’t see either playing in the near future. Not many options other than Rosas. Can you use DPP to get him? Alternatively, Jackson hasn’t worked out. He could be a trade to a Parker, if funds work out.

Rick Grimes

Or I you have a bit of coin, I really want Libba. He seems a top pick with fwd eligibility.

Nathan

Geesh! Everyone was feeling sorry for West Coast. Spare a thought for us SuperCoaches dealing with the outs this week. So chin up Matt… many are in the same boat. I would pull the trigger on a third trade. Upgrade season is upon us. Grundy to Gawn is the most astute trade. Preuss would be nice, but given the carnage, just leave it as Hayes and Gawn in your rucks and upgrade elsewhere in whichever line is in most desperate need

Matt

Yea tell me about rucks have copped it this week. So 2 rucks in. And now have 170k in the bank, I have hinge, mccartin, jhf and Luke Jackson who i can trade out….. just not sure hang on to hinge, jhf and mccartin and give up on the Jackson dream?

Matty C

I’m so here’s what I’m thinking atm.
Hayes – Hayes
Jackson – Parker
McCartin – Vlastuin

Pretty much uses all of my money. Other option is to downgrade Rachele to Rosas and save the money for an upgrade next week.

Rick Grimes

Like it. I’m flicking Jackson. Early door he was getting more ruck time but recently he’s barely getting a look in. Spending heaps of time on the bench too. He’ll still get the occasional 130, but 60s and 70s in between.

Russty_

Up to you but def rookies are rare, I’m keeping McCartin, he’s more reliable than Rachele

Matty C

Yeah think Jackson needs to go and would have a donut otherwise anyway. Just not sure about Vlastuin. Could be a flash in the pan and go back to his usual 90 avg. Could upgrade Rachele to him using DPP as McCartin is pretty reliable.

Alex

Trying to base my trades around R2, bringing in Hayes but could also bring in Preuss to play R2:
Trading out Grundy, Hayes and Rachele

T/U – Oliver, Sam Hayes (R2) and Rosas – 300k on bench
T/D – Preuss (R2), Hayes and Rosas – 600k on bench
Comment – Oliver, Hayes and Preuss

Thanks lads

Pman

I brought in Preuss for Jackson last week at R2 and he gave me a 100 and will continue to do so until he gets injured or belts someone again so definitely Preuss over Hayes for R2. I’m bringing in Hayes for R3 though. Oliver is a must have.

Pman

Having a hard time deciding who to upgrade McCartin too out of Witherden or Sinclair? Both are good POD selections and I’m probably leaning towards Sinclair as DPP although Witherden has a higher ceiling for scores but can also serve up stinkers. Who is a better choice?

Srixi

Dale

Pman

Another good POD selection and cheaper too but I already have 4 Bulldogs in my starting 22 not sure if he’ll score as consistently high as the other two?

Rick Grimes

Agree Dale under the radar. I like Houston too. Tho he’s burned a few. Sinclair of those two.

Russty_

Well I hope you didn’t go Witherden Pman, looks like he can’t get many touches cause Lynch is having 78 shots at goal.

Pman

Thankfully I didn’t and I’ll go with Sinclair I think. Am tossing up Brodie as he is value for money but he’s in 52% of sides but will probably stick to Sinclair. You are a Saints man, what are your thoughts on Sinclair? Will his role change and is likely to keep pumping out 100’s every week?

Russty_

I brought him in some weeks back for spud Whitfield, no regret there.
He’s been playing about 60/40 def mid so far, named on the ball this week, he’s been great and has grown into his new role and embraced it, I honestly don’t see Jones, Clark or billings changing Sinclair’s role much if at all.
Those 3 will be rusty and Jones is a winger, Billings will probs go to half fwd and Clark will try to get back into it in the backline somewhere.
P.S Ratten would be an idiot to change anything about what Sinclair is doing at the moment, because it’s translating as success.

Last edited 26 days ago by Russty_
Pman

Thanks Russty you have sold me! Thanks for the intel as have been eyeing off Sinclair for awhile but didn’t know enough about him as I don’t remember him scoring like this in previous years but is playing some great footy at present and has scored 100+ every game so should be a sound selection.

Russty_

No probs mate happy to help, he’s turned into a really good player, and has a fine mullet as an added bonus! haha

Srixi

Luke Ryan could even be worth a look, important to still keep value in mind to allow you to upgrade quickly

Baggy Pants

Hugh dixon late in for Eagles

Pman

A good result as will give me Bench coverage in FWD line and can put the E on him in a week of total carnage.

Russty_

I actually have a playing E on every line…it’s a miracle! lol

Pman

It is this week! Could do with a miracle or two myself at present…

SchittSangers

uuurrgh I wish that I had checked final teams I’ve got him on the Ruck bench without the E and you watch him pump out a worthy score
.21 in 1st qrtr from 1 kick, 1 mk and 1 tackle kicked 1pt + 4 hitouts and 1 clanger but his de is apparently 0% so those hitouts must have been to advantage. CD toying with supercoaches again I think

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Looking at a 50, so not to worry, I could have moved him from R3 with the E, but decided not to.

Russty_

He’ll be lucky to get to 40 John

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I’ll be looking at trading Dixon for the other WCE ruck rookie Strnadica next week.

SchittSangers

I think that they realised they stuffed up and turned off his gadget. They did give him 7pts for a hball at one stage though

Deafness (DM)

Trade out Dow or Rachele first? Cheers

Pman

Dow for me as we know Rachele can go big and is due for a good game after a few quiet ones although depends how many injuries you have, I wanted to trade Rachele this week but I need fit bodies on the ground. Dow to go for me..

The Lost Boys

Hi Community! Looking for advice on which trade to go for today. Team is:
B: Hewett, Sicily, Short, Whitfield, Daicos, O’Driscol – SDK, Hinge
M: Macrae, Steele, Neale, Miller, Petracca, Cripps, Brodie, JHF – Ward, Stephens, Uwland
R: Grundy, Preuss, J.Hayes
F: Dunkley, Butters, Cogs, Xerri, Martin, Rachelle – McCartin, Dixon
Thinking of one of these trades:
Grundy, Xerri, JHF to S.Hayes, Oliver and Gawn
Grundy, Xerri, J.Hayes to S.Hayes, Oliver and Heeney (or Parker)
Have to trade JHF to get Oliver & Gawn, but would prefer to keep him – however Gawn looks very tempting. Which do you recommend?

Pman

Option 1 for me as the Gawn/Oliver will give you higher scoring capacity than either of Heeney (who is due to get injured at some point if history tells us anything!) and Parker who I think is good value for F6 but I’d take Oliver over those 2 every day of the week. I’m upgrading Grundy to Gawn as Max could go ballistic as sole Ruck against Hawthorn who have Max Lynch as staring Ruck.

Russty_

Good call!

Derek

there seems to be a lot of Rioli’s playing tonight

Russty_

I think it’s called a Cyril of Riolis.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

G.Clark should be a good trade in next week, happy to go early. Lekdog was right. Was always going to be a good trade in on the bubble, but if we were short on midfielders this round, he was one to get in.

demonsdelight

Think I will wait a week don’t need him yet and he doesn’t have dpp

Russty_

Good to see someone’s appeared in the mids who isn’t a spud.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I’ll be trading Dow to him next round.

Russty_

Rachele this week for me, his scoring is garbage unless he kicks multiple goals. Welcome Clark

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Both might end up going, but I don’t mind a playing rookie on the bench either, just for rounds like this.

Russty_

I’m playing Gator in JR Mega-League this week John and he’s 4 points ahead of me with 3 played, me: Short, Rioli, Gibcus……….. Gator: Short, Clark, Gibcus.
Clark’s gonna be an awesome moneymaker for us over the next month or so.
I started Clark in my AFL Fantasy side this week and he debuted with 110!

Last edited 26 days ago by Russty_
JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Wish I kept Gibcus now, traded him out when they rested him, it was him or Hinge for the upgrade and I picked the wrong one with Hinge still out of the side.

Kat

Yeah me too John. I thought Hinge had the more money to make and thus traded Gibcus but Gibcus has come good and more importantly is playing. Hinge is still not back in but at least is emergency this week so hopefully not too long till he returns but we needed him this week

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

At the time I feel it was the right call, Hinge had been scoring better than Gibcus and I wasn’t sure if Gibcus was going to get back into the richmond side straight away, while Hinge seemed to be in the best 22 at the crows. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

gator59

I got him in and on ground tonight

Russty_

Good call Col, Clark looks like a gun pick.

holty01

Good luck community

Russty_

Same to you Holternator.

K.Sinny

Anyone taking the risk on Rozee hoping he stays in the midfield?

Nathan

I would wait… too risky. Butters was ill and nearly did not play last week. So they kept him forward and Rozee full time mid. Could be more 50/50 split this week

ST1974

Who should I bring in for JHF – Green or Cripps? Which one is more likely to maintain their average and scoring?

Nathan

Cripps for mine. Should be more consistent. Cripps is a lock each week in the midfield. Green may get rotated around a bit more

Pman

Cripps has a higher scoring ceiling but is probably more injury prone than Green but Cripps for me out of the 2.

ST1974

Cripps it is. Thanks Nathan and Pieman, much appreciated.

SchittSangers

Having a crap round this week and the footy has been rubbish to watch as well. And tonight we have to watch the Dees kick 30 unanswered goal against the sqawks but the other 2 games wont be much better I suppose. Sunday arvo game looks like being the only game worth watching this round

SchittSangers

nope I was wrong Dees demolish the hawks in daylight tonight we watch a game of underwater footy from the cazaly aquarena

Kat

The Hawks actually gave the demons a run for their money in the end. Good luck with the rest of your round, guess it can’t go smoothly all the time. I’m looking forward to watching the Saints tonight as a long-time supporter. Got the C on Steele so fingers crossed he goes OK

SchittSangers

Roos V Blues looking like a good contest as well but still a depressing round of supercoach. Docherty 10 kicks 5 handballs @73%de with 250mtrs gained and a couple of inside 50’s and score involvements for a measley 36pts
Maybe they changed the SC scoring parameters and forgot to tell us

SchittSangers

sinclair copping similar treatment from CD after a good 1.5 qrtrs

SchittSangers

I’m expecting to take a few backwards steps in rank this week. I know that a lot of people will have SDK and O’Driscoll on field but I don’t have any of the big scorers like, Short, Bolton, Stewart, kelly, Cumming or Laird and both of my POD midfielders (Green, Keays) were ordinary

Pman

Like most I’m considering the Hayes for Hayes swap but I was just wondering what the JS for West Coast Rookie Ruckman Strnadica is like? Both of my Ruckman (Pruess & Gawn) have played so I could leave Hayes on the Bench and either swing Dixon or trade in Strnadica next week allowing me to upgrade JHF now. Is the PTA Hayes the real deal and the better R3 option over Dixon or Strnadica?

Kat

Looks like Maxxy is going to go big tonight. Im kicking myself cause I took the VC off him last minute and moved to Oliver.

Russty_

At least it’s only VC Kat, who will be your C now?

Kat

Think I will take Steele over Macrae Cripps and Neale. WIll be able to watch the game on TV and barrack for him and hopefully he gets across the line with a good score

Russty_

Yeah right, nice choice mate, hope he comes through for ya! I had Rachele on field today so that sucked

Kat

I traded out Rachelle this week so dodged that bullet but won’t speak too soon cause kept JHF and he may not go any better. Oliver actually got a few last-minute points to get to 119 but think I will take the risk and keep the C on Steele. Looking forward to trading in GWS rookie Cooper Hamilton in a few weeks. Played his junior footy at my local country footy club so very excited for him

Russty_

Steele needs to lift a bit for you Kat, not looking good, I didn’t see the Gws Crows game but it looks like they really put the Crows to the sword

Kat

I know Russty Needs a big last quarter to save me. One day I will get my C right. Saints need to learn to kick straight. Not sure how we are still in front

Russty_

Pretty garbage scoring only 7 goals kicked in 3 quarters, 4-13 is disgraceful, hope we can improve that.
I think with Gawn today, it was just what he’d be scoring almost every week without Jackson there.

Last edited 25 days ago by Russty_
Kat

Very dissapointing loss Russty. Kicked 1-15 after 1/4 time with some gettable set shots missed. We had a bad loss in Cairns last year as well with Adelaide kicking a fluke goal in the last minute. Not our best night but at least Steele improved his score a bit for me

Russty_

Yeah Kat disappointing and hopefully doesn’t come back to bite our chances later in the season but glad Steele got to 120 for you. That kind of inaccuracy just brings back bad memories for me from 2009 and 10

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I thought I was the only Max owner without the VC on him. I just looked and every team that I am playing that has Max in their side has the VC on him. So will be looking at 6 loses this round. Maybe it does pay to check out who you are playing and what they are doing, something I don’t normaly bother with.

Tophawk

John. You had the VC on Gawn but you forgot to loophole his score. TH

Russty_

He had it on Oliver you crazy bastard…you must have Covid 😉

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I didn’t put much thought into the VC this week, just put it on Clarry at the start of the week. I did see a lot of teams on twitter having Max as their VC, so should have looked at who my matchups had, but I try not to be influenced by what others are doing and just do my own thing. Now I just have to decide whether I take the 119 from Clarry, 120 is my cut off. I can just imagine Macrae getting injured just to spite me if I don’t play it safe.

holty01

Can someone tell those selfish Carlton mids to play more defensive at stoppages. We can’t win a hitout to advantage so let’s at least make it tougher for their midfield

Russty_

Should be a comfortable win mate, that’s the main thing, that Carroll lad looks alright mate, will he keep his spot?

holty01

Carroll did look good. They must have listened to me. After halftime they started playing more one on one at stoppages. We will have to do that until we get a recognised ruckman back

SchittSangers

Jack carroll looking good to 3/4 time. topping the game for metres gained, 14 kicks, 8 marks and 3 clearances and half a dozen score involvements. Dunno where he goes when Hewett gets back though

Kat

A few good rookies on the horizon

SchittSangers

At the perfect time to Kat we can get rid rid of a few slow burners. Clark looked like a must have and Carroll could probably replace Newnes when Hewett is back but he was cramping pretty badly in the final qrtr so maybe he gets a few more in the VFL to build his engine before a spot on the wing is his

Russty_

4-18 what a crap scoresheet, Saints deserved a wake up call after that effort.
WTF are they doing in Cairns anyway?…with their 29 degree humid shit weather. They should do that stuff in pre-season games, not the regular season.

demonsdelight

The closeness was the only thing that kept my interest

Russty_

Yeah but 2 bunches of crap close together doesn’t make for a good game haha

Tophawk

Russty! Come on mate. Cairns and Darwin are decent centres to play AFL football matches.

Russty_

Yeah maybe if you like sweating to death and dehydration. 🙂

SchittSangers

100% agree mate there aren’t enough non brit-loving Australians north of Brisbane to deserve a non-british game. let ’em have their british rugby and union jack but we shouldn’t let em have the Australian game

SchittSangers

Lol at Docherty’s score 20 kicks 13 hballs 500mtrs gained for only 85. Its a long time since I’ve seen a defender have 33 disposals and score less than 100 in SC

SchittSangers

by contract, Sinclair (whom I also have) 18 kicks, 5 hballs 480 mtrs gained but 3 less marks and 10% lower de scored 91.
The main luck in supercoach is whether or not you get a CD score allocator person who has the same players as you in their

Russty_

They were probs all at the local pub sinking a few cold ones, and left their kids to do the scoring.

Srixi

Sinclair had more contested possessions had a positive free kick ratio and more intercept possessions

I also believe doch had the bulk of his possessions in the last quarter when the game was already decided. These tend to not score as well

SchittSangers

Sinclair had 3 more contested possessions, 4 more intercept possessions, 1 more score launch and 1 more tackle than Docherty
but he also had

  • 7 more turnovers
  • 8 less hballs
  • 4 less inside 50’s
  • 3 less effective kicks
  • 3 less marks
  • 3 less score involvements
  • 1 less contested mark
  • 1 less centre clearance

His score was scaled back to 85 = 6 less than Docherty but I think 7 more turnovers in a game that was lost by 1 point would probably negate the extra contested possessions and intercepts. Not to mention the significant difference in other areas

SchittSangers

1337 from 14
Macrae (C), Heeney, Neale,Crisp, Witts, Dunkley daicos, Martin to play
Potatoes include but not limited to Brodie, O’driscoll. hayes

Russty_

I’m sitting on 1541 from 13 but in my JR Mega-League, Gator will probably beat me by about 100 points+ lol
Did you have Hayes on field?

Donavan

Nice score Rusty.
thanks for your advise earlier in the week, it is the right long-term move, but if I had done the original trades J Kelly (150+), Gawn (170+), instead of Steele (120) & Hayes (50+). Oh well Gawn in next week.

SchittSangers

ouch!

Always back yourself Donovan, if it fails you can blame luck

Russty_

I actually advised you to get Gawn but you said you couldn’t because you’d get a donut in the fwd line but Dixon played in the end, sorry it worked out that way mate, this week was Kelly’s really good score of the season, a 103 average for a mid isn’t something I’d be all that excited about, GWS’s flogging of the Crows today isn’t an indicator of how they’ll be going fwd either.

Donavan

Agreed, the long-term game will be better with the trades I did. Happy with Steele doing his normal stuff, and Hayes will be fine at R3 earning $ after I get Gawn next week, and I think Parker is a sound selection in the forward line.
I really do appreciate the perspective you gave me, it’s a long game.

SchittSangers

nice score for you. you should climb the rankings dramattically
yes all of my aforementioned potatoes were field potatoes

Russty_

Cheers Sangers, maybe not dramatically but possibly into the top 100 maybe?…it’s a lot of pressure though, going forward, I’ll probably run out of trades and it’ll all go to shit lol

Derek

I’m going ok, 1622 with 8 to play; Neale, Ridley, Daniel, Macrae, Parker, Daicos, Martin & Dunkley. Looking at over 2400 but staring at 6 out of defeats.

don’t believe I only have 4 players different to NDD. Will be 2 losses against NDD this week and difference was Preuss vs Hayes.

Russty_

That’s a bit hard to take mate, good to see you’ll score more than 2239 this week though 😉 4 different players is too close though, time to start looking for some pods. Over 2400 is awesome though, any week.

Derek

Not sure who has been copying who 😉

Kat

I think we are all so similar because rookies to bring in have been limited and the must haves have been obvious. We all started off with very similar teams at the start I think.

demonsdelight

enough of that

Tophawk

Hi Sangers, Sitting on 1571 with Crisp, Ridley, Macrae, Neale, Bazlenka, Daicos, Dunkley, Martin and Rosas to come. Projected to go 2457 from here, but with a bit of luck, might hit 2500 for the first time this season. Cheers, TH

SchittSangers

Great score you should also make some big strides up the ranking board this week. I will be taking big steps backwards this week I think. 14 already played and only 7 scores over 100 and only 3 of them over 110. Still 2 rookies to post spuds and didn’t have the courage to put the C on Cripps.
Probably should have traded for Gawn & Short instead of Keays and Dunkley but we are all geniuses in hindsight.

I was ranked 7,500 after week 1 and my round rank was 17,182 in round 4 and still managed to get to 25th overall last week so it’s not like 1 extra bad hit from the luck stick will kill me.
Good to see some other people finally posting their progress scores

Derek

Felt good to finally have Cripps in my team.

thought about Rosas for cash gen because Cripps BE was 125 and get him next week, but playing Norf was too juicy

Hayes had a funny game, was very tough condition and he was struggling to run, not many centre bounces and only 49 ball ups for whole game, other games were saving 80+. Had his big moment with a few minutes to go and 1 point game got a free kick about 40 out, by chose to handball.

hopefully Parker my third recruit (yes I used 3 trades this week, that’s 6 for the year) can give a good score, only in 3% of teams

demonsdelight

Hey Derek earlier you said there was only 4 differences in our teams but two of yours i have on the bench you have done well but i do have Preuss at R2 not a keeper though I think cheers mate

Derek

I’ve been thinking about the byes and now I’m confused

I have most of my keepers missing round 12.

7 at this stage missing round 12, 4 missing round 13 and 5 missing round 14

should I now be looking for non-round 12 players to trade in?

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

After this round, I need to drop my bench mark scores for my bench rookie with the E and my VC player. Not taking the 55 from MacDonald and 119 from Clarry is going to cost me the games I still had a chance in. So I will be going 60>50 and 120>110.

Russty_

Bad luck with MaCrae John that’s his 2nd low score in a row now for him, wonder if he’s carrying a niggle of some sort?

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

One theory is because English isn’t playing, the other is they are playing him on the outside.

Russty_

After 2 over 150 scores too, very unusual for him.

The Ranger

I know the feeling John, I opted not to take Steeles 122 thinking that Macrae couldn’t possibly have two bad weeks in a row…

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Having had my cut off at 120, I would have taken that. The funny thing is I had the VC on Clarry and the C on Steele at the start of the round, then after the 119 from Oliver, I moved the C to Macrae while I thought about taking the 119 score. Then this afternoon I decided I would take the 119, but the dogsvdons game had already started, by about 1 minute, I knew then it wasn’t going to work out. I just saw we were playing against eachother in ”Up There Cazaly”.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Funny thing is, after worrying about the VC/C difference, not taking the 55 from MacDonald hurt even more. MacDonald 55 > Hobbs 13 > 42-points. Oliver 119 > Macrae 89 > 30- points.

holty01

Well after a month of average scoring, Ive finally had a good week. Bad news is that I will probably still lose 5 of 8 leagues

Russty_

Crazy week for scoring Holty, I’m seeing tons of over 2500’s out there in the leagues.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I’m seeing a lot of 2,550+ scores, even after my disaster of a round, I’m going to get close to 2,400.

demonsdelight

Look like scoring my best ever something over or approaching 2600 .The best thing for me is if I do Shake been my nemisis for too long

Russty_

Over 2650 for you mate that’s epic stuff!, well done, me and gator almost at 2600 but he’ll beat me by about 15 points, closer if Heeney didn’t get that last goal.

demonsdelight

Yeah great score both both you and Gator see his wife scored 2644 at present Scored the highest in my 10 leagues but Floky is within 4 well done too Donna Worth remembering Gat and myself got eliminated from survivor then Gat got the highest now my turn maybe congrats to all those big scores NDD

Derek

NDD, What’s with us only having 4 different players.

came down to Preuss vs Hayes. No hope.

only lost the two matches against you this week

demonsdelight

I was there first lol. we actually have 8 different mainly bench but you have daniel and Whitfield plus 6cash cows and I have Preuss Green Rowell and Hewett plus 4 bench rookies Good luck watch your first week byes NDD

gator59

Hi mate the mrs scored 2646 and that’s with a 12 points from Dempsey on field.. Biatch

demonsdelight

Congrats to you both.Big game next week. How’s the house coming along?

gator59

House is coming along slowly, Plaster , cornice and timber feature wall all up.. Water proofing toilets, bathroom, kitchen and laundry tomorrow

gator59

You’re having a good year too mate

Derek

I managed to pip Shake by 1pt.

I was worried when Heeney was junking it up at the end, but held on after scaling.

demonsdelight

Shake would be livid but that”s the fun of it. beating shake by 1 is like beating collingwood after the siren sorry Shake

Shake n bake

Good win Derek onward and upwards for you.

Shake n bake

should call my team Collingwood!! Everyone just loves to beat me! Great score buddy awesome.

demonsdelight

Thought I had you when Parker got off well Got him in early that’s what it’s about Vlastium might be next

Shake n bake

Neil & Melbourne double trouble!! Look out!

demonsdelight

and casey demons on top undefeated. Our depth is something else but will be tested this week against the saints Great effort Shake always love the few times I beat you epic game

Kat

A 2437 for me which is a best this year but only enough to win 5/10 leagues. Missed the Neale and Gawn scores as a C but Steele was OK. Well done to those with the big 2500+ scores Great effort

demonsdelight

Over 2400 is great Kat been tough for you saints people but inside info is your opponent my Dees may be without a few players Neale -Bullen trained while he had covid and the club won’t know how many are out for 3 days cheers NDD

Kat

Thanks NDD for that, reasonably happy with my score. I think we will need all the help we can get but would need Gawn, Oliver, Tracc and maybe May out for it really to help the Saints get a win. Melbourne has a lot of depth in their team

S C tragic

score of 2438 still lost 8 leagues, tough crowd out there. Mc Crae captain didn’t help if I’d gone neale or gawn would have had clean sweep.

derek

who was your VC?

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

It takes some sort of skill to captain your lowest scoring premium across all lines. Ok rant over, at least I managed to win 3 games in the end, thanks mainly to my new trade in Parker.

Matty C

Captain choices are the weakest part of my team this year atm. McCrae captain over Neale and copped Cripps 30 odd as captain. Would hate to think what I’d be ranked if I fixed those two mistakes. Really need to start nailing my VCs.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

It’s been a big difference in the scoring, you get the VC and/or the C right and you are halfway to a good score. I was so caught up in who to trade out and in this round to try and cover all the outs, that I kind of forgot about the VC/C.

Russty_

Nice trade in there John, Parker was great and good on ya for getting the 3 wins.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Very happy with my trades this round Russty, nearly makes up for the mistakes of the last two rounds.

Russty_

What were your other trades last week John…did you get Clark early?

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Hobbs.

Russty_

He was a bit stiff to only get 13…from 10 possessions. Must’ve had a few fa’s/clangers

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Only time I’ve gone early this season. Was looking at Clark and Carroll, but I’ll wait until next week now. Going, J.Hayes>Strnadica, Rachele>Curtis, Dow>Touk. Then next week, JHF>Carroll or Clark and if they both look good, I’ll get rid of Hobbs if he’s dropped or still not scoring.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Strnadica out under H&S. So will have to go, Rachele>Curtis, Dow>Clark, JHF>Touk.

Russty_

I like it John, should improve your weekly points significantly, and out with the maxed rookies and in with the new.
Petracca must be pretty tempting for you too?

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

You are right there Russty, it is out of Touk and Petracca for the upgrade. They are the two that will finish my midfield, Rowell will be my M8 until he proves he’s not good enough. Brayshaw would be the one to take his spot.

Russty_

Rowell’s been pretty solid since I dumped him, haha, Brayshaw cops a far few tags, as Touk was a few weeks ago, hope it doesn’t become an ongoing thing.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

I was hoping to keep JHF for a few more weeks, but the only other player I could use is O’Driscoll, but I like his def/mid swing with Daicos.

VossTheBoss

Score 2380 and will get rolled in my cash league by a 2630, I would’ve been everyone in the league bar him and one other, sometimes and that’s with nearly 1.5mill on the bench

Pman

2468 which is my best score of the year to date but wasn’t good enough to win my 8 leagues with 6 wins, 1 Draw and a Loss in what appears to have been a generally high scoring round.

SchittSangers

LoL
weekly rank 49,112
overall rank went from 25 to 203
Not having Macrae as captin might have helped

Kat

Getting your C wrong definitely does not help. Looking on the bright side though you haven’t dropped too far and can easily get back up there again with a good score next week. You are still in it with a chance to win. I’d just love to say I’ve been in the top 100 at some stage. Well done to Russty too who has zoomed up in the ranks

SchittSangers

Yeah Kat at some stage this season my luck is going to change to good luck and then I will win some weekly cash

S C tragic

Oliver but I played the greedy card, and held out, but that’s how the mop flops.

Srixi

Get Rowell in mate, it’s time

SchittSangers

Hahahahahahahaha

Russty_

yeah the Captain choice was crucial and made a big diff for the Neale/Gawn choosers.
Rough week for you with all the outs, I traded Jackson for Parker which helped.
Killer Kitties had MaCrae C as well and dropped to 26th, as long as you’re in touch you can bounce back.

SchittSangers

My team is valued at $13.17 million but only ranked 50,000th for the week.
I should have called it ‘The Frydenbergs’ with that sort of crap economic management

One Touch Wonder

traded in Mills last week and Parker this week for instant rewards. managed 2589 but still only managed 6 wins. had 2 ties with The Instagator and lost by 2pts against Bundeena Bunnies. my own fault, was busy saturday and had the C on Oliver instead of the VC. Would have put C on Steele and given me 3 extra points hahaha. oh well, happy to have 2 good weeks in a row and inside the top 10k and moving in the right direction.

planning a big SHARK MOVE this week

Russty_

Good scoring there Rich, bummer about the close finishes, Gator got me too by 15 with his new boy Clark.

<h1>The importance of accepting mediocrity</h1>
<h4><strong><em>I am probably the worst Captain selector playing Supercoach<br /></em></strong></h4>
<h4><strong><em>&nbsp;OR </em></strong></h4>
<h4><strong><em>I am very good at selecting Supercoach Captains but I have had the worst luck you could possibly have</em></strong></h4>
<p><strong><em>I am probably the worst Captain selector playing the game.</em></strong></p>
<p>I have only picked my highest scoring player as Captain twice (including when Cripps VC) on the other 5 occasions I had at least 9 players who scored higher than my Captain.</p>
<p><em>If I’d accepted mediocrity</em> and taken my VC as captain every round I would have 124 more points than I do today<em>(subtracting the 52 combined from Neale &amp; Macrae for the 2 rounds where captain scored higher than my VC).</em><br />I would be ranked 13th and only 17pts from #1 But instead I am 203rd and 364pts from #1.</p>
<p><strong>OR</strong></p>
<p><em><strong>I am very good at selecting Captains but I have had the worst luck you could possibly when selecting my Captain this year</strong></em></p>
<p>I play for rank until at least the byes so I have a high cutoff point for VC scores to be acceptable for Captains scores. My cutoff is 135 so my Captain selection requires a lot of research &amp; reasoning to justify the selection and, also a lot of luck.</p>
<p><em><strong>In Five out of seven games this year my VC has scored more than my Captain and I haven’t taken the score.</strong> </em></p>
<p>Some people might suggest that ‘I have been greedy so it serves me right for getting burned’ and without full knowledge that is a reasonable assumption.</p>
<p>The decision to reject a VC score has been very<strong> easy this year as in five of the seven rounds my VC scores have been below 120.</strong> The luck part is that in five out seven times the sub 120 VC score was higher than the captains score, on two ocaisions the VC score was below 100 but still ended up being higher than my captains score.</p>
<p>If I had accepted mediocrity and taken my 5 sub-120 and 2 sub-99 VC scores as my captain scores <strong>I would have 124 more points than I do today </strong><em>(subtracting the 52 combined from Neale &amp; Macrae for the 2 rounds where my captain scored higher than my VC).</em></p>
<p><br /><em><strong>I would be ranked 56th and only 240pts from #1 But instead I am ranked 203rd and 364pts from #1.</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Was I being greedy?</strong></p>
<p>Apart from round 1 I don’t think that anybody could suggest that I was being greedy after seeing the analysis results.</p>
<p>If all the captains that I have selected this year had have only scored their current average, (including the 2 who scored up to 40pts higher than their average)<strong> I would have 141 more points than I do today</strong>. In that scenario I’would be ranked 46th and only 223pts from #1.</p>
<p><strong>R1</strong><br />VC Macrae 133<br />C Steele 87<br />His lowest this year 2nd lowest is 111 his ave is 119. It was .v Pies he scored 154 last time that they played (11 of my players scored higher)</p>
<p><strong>R2</strong><br />VC Cripps 162 I took it<br />C English 99<br />His 2nd lowest this year his ave 121. This game was v.Carlton and he ave 108 in previous 3 games against them in 2019 &amp; 2020, (he was crap back then and he starred in Pre season &amp; round 1 2022).</p>
<p><strong>R3</strong><br />VC Cripps 119<br />C Neale 105<br />His lowest for the year, His ave is 140. This game V.North and he aved 143 in his previous 3 games against them with a low of 134. (7 players scored higher 3 of them 140+)</p>
<p><strong>R4</strong><br />VC Green 92<br />C Cripps 38<br />V. Suns His ave was 137 at the time. (q1 injury every other player scored higher)</p>
<p><strong>R5</strong><br />VC Neale 117<br />C Macrae 153 (my highest scoring player)<br />He was averaging 131 Prior to this game V.North 3 of his 4 scores had been 130+</p>
<p><strong>R6</strong><br />VC Macrae 92<br />C Neale 108<br />His ave was 137 This game V. Suns and he had 2 140+ games in his previous 3 against them. (9 of my players scored higher)</p>
<p><strong>R7</strong><br />VC Oliver 119<br />C Macrae 89<br />His lowest for the year his season ave was 128. This game v Bombers and he ave 137 in previous 3 against them. (14 of my players scored higher)</p>
<p>Actual Captains Scores total 742 x 2. Avergae 106<br />If they’d each scored their average Total 883 x 2. Average 126</p>
<p>Total VC Scores 834 average 119</p>
<p><br />My R7 was ranked 49,112 my worst weekly rank by more than 33,000 positions but my score was 185pts higher than the average for the round. Even though my round rank was my worst I increased my average score.</p>

S C tragic

What can I say, it’s a poser alright.

SchittSangers

So far this year I’ve had 5 VC scores below 120, two of them below 100 but on each occasion they turned out to be better scores than my captains scores.
It’s all there in html but apparently you can’t post html here ooops

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

This happened to me quite a lot last season. My cut off was 120, when I didn’t take it because it was below that score, my C then scored lower. When I did take it, due to it being 120 or above, the player I had the C on originally scored even more.

SchittSangers

Congratulations NAARM well done MFC you continually impress me with your ground breaking & community leading commitments to equality and respect. It’s been there for a long time and your members should be, and are, proud of the moral strength of their Football Club.

If the blues don’t win this years flag I hope that it is you.

SchittSangers

It will be great when all of the other clubs are doing the same thing every year but I have no idea how long that will take
