Thanks for the podcast guys, great stuff, unbelievable scores out there this week with the top one being 2648…wowsers!
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a season where so many rookies tonned up in their debut game.
Shout out to Trigga (Show us your Butters) League, someone has bailed out after the completion of round 1 mate, and I think its the same guy who did the same thing to me in JR Mega-League, Jonah (The Jinx) thanks Jonah…very poor form mate.
Trig, rather than trying to recruit someone who is not a weakass quitter, I just added Lekdawgy from the list of experts mate, maybe you could do the same.

TRIGGA HAPPY

Done
Thanks mate
Lek has butters so he is good to go.

Russty_

You’ll be fine mate, I didn’t even make top 16 last year LOL

holty01

Awesome lads

Russty_

Can’t believe how little activity there is on here after such an eventful first round, thought there’d be hundreds of comments by now, I know the site was down for most of yesterday…(really bad timing Lek), but let’s get some interest going shall we?
Otherwise…what incentive do these guys have who keep this site going?…how about showing some actual support other than just considering your own needs and asking what other people think of your team. Is there really nothing to discuss or ask about?…. round 1 has just completed and it was awesome, so let’s get to some Jabber-Jawing, ask some questions, answer some questions…whatever, don’t think…dooooo 🙂

holty01

You making any moves this week mate? I only have Martin to worry about but that can wait until next week. You concerned about your Saints? They looked quite poor on the weekend mate.

demonsdelight

I have this feeling about STEELE and another about Tracca .I have always avoided both but Tracca has looked good all preseason Trading gets me a player I accidently traded who was in all my teams. Baldwin for Rachele and Steele for Tracca maybe next week maybe

Russty_

Your call on Steele bud but it’s a long season remember, how come you didn’t start with Rachele?…I thought he would’ve been a lockity lock.

demonsdelight

Needed 200k for Steele Only 2 were Cogs and Rachele He was the only missed rookie

holty01

Traccas back half of last year was very good so not overly surprised he started this season as well as he has. Steele will still be one of the best come season’s end so feel it’s a bit of a wasted trade trading him out only to ultimately want him back again. But if you can see reasons to trade him out, that’s your choice.

Russty_

If Steele drops another sub 100 and Tracca smashes it again it’d be very tempting to go ahead with that mate. Might even do it myself! lol

demonsdelight

Think I will stick with Steele just have faith in him

Shake n bake

I made 2 big trades already. Going with how l should have started until l had a change of mind very last minute. Do you have ward Neil?

demonsdelight

No mate left him out took Derek’s advice there

Shake n bake

Thought that be an option for you to move him on.

Russty_

Same here Neil, and he was right about being concerned about his scoring, not as bad as Owens though LOL

Derek

Silly me, put Ward in my team at M8. Couldn’t decide which cheapie rookie to put in field, so went with the other 62% of coaches.

Russty_

Hi mate, maybe Owens out if he doesn’t get named, actually meant to change him out for Maginess or Stephens before lockout but didn’t get home in time to do it.
McInerney and Bowey were a bit disappointing too, was considering them out for Hewett and Blakey but that’ll be after another look at them first.
Yes mate I am concerned about the Saints lack of confidence, lake of Game plan and lack of stars in general, disappointment seems to be the norm these days being a Saints supporter, at least you have something to be excited about with your new and improved Blues, hope it’s a close game this week.
How about yourself Holty, any moves planned?

holty01

Martin will have to come in probably but who for is the big question. My worst scorer was Dixon. Will hold until next week probably however

Johnny

I think ppl have lives and fantasy football is very much on the back burner. We’ve all been couped up for 2 years so most of us are out enjoying our freedom. But yeah how about them rookies!!

Jordy_

What an exhilarating first round!

cash_cows

Feels good to have the pod back.
Yet to listen but did anyone else have their league h2h start R1?
My cash league decided to spice it up, so waiting to trade after R2 might not be the go.

Monkeyman

Massive first round for a lot of punters. 2252 is my biggest start ever(just can’t seem to reach the heights of most of you on here!) and I still left 85 points on the bench after fielding Baldwin over N.Martin. Live and learn.
Just happy to have footy back.

Kat

Fielding the right rookie Rnd 1 is a bit of skill but mostly luck. I wouldn’t worry too much, a lot of us had a good rookie score on the bench. Just as likely next week to be the other way round

dontblushbaby

I had the right rookies, but had 2 on the bench and couldn’t loop ,the good news is that I don’t have to trade any of them in ,the bad is I still have Owens and Baldwin, can’t win them all

Monkeyman

Exactly. Waiting for an 1800 score to hit me next week!

Russty_

Know the feeling Monkeyman, I had Dekoning onfield with the E on McCartin and the E on Durdin fwd with Hayes’ score going by the wayside. 88 points total, great to have Footy back ay!, and some rookies going nuts

TRIGGA HAPPY

Similar for me
Ward on deck rachelle on bench.

But managed to start most top scoring rooks.

VossTheBoss

Call me crazy but I think I’m leaning to using one of my trade boosts after R1 for some correction

DeKoning (providing he doesn’t play)
Crisp (possible role change has killed him)
Ward (expensive for little output)
>>
Neale (who was in my team all pre season
Sicily (see above)
Martin (see above x2)

I had 280k in the bank by trading Witts > Preuss to get Hayes’ score

I’ve always been aggressive early on in previous years, but is this too aggressive

I score 2260 with Steele captain couple with Ridley, Cripps and Whitfield all letting me down, while the old man score 2541 in R1 of our cash league and beat me heavily (ranked 35)

Russty_

Doesn’t sound too crazy to me, you’d be picking up 3 good ones there, considering we get 5 extra this year…if it helps you to enjoy your SC start more, I wouldn’t advise against it, Martin looked a pretty special kind of rookie. Kinda glad I left Ward out of my side after that too.

The Ranger

Fwds – tick
Ruk – tick
Mids – tick
Def – disaster zone. 385 from six players!
Prob just hold this week, I’ll grab N.Martin next week if he doesn’t get injured this week but other than that got most of the right rookies. Durdin and Maginness also worth a watch.
Look forward to listening to the pod later.

Daz

Ranger, we must have the same team, 2223 for me with Hayes and Martin stuck on the bench with no loopholes. 400 total from my backline.

The Ranger

Yep, 2276 for me Daz, Crisp, Ridley and Whitfield stank it up.
Holding Crisp ‘cos Maynard is still to come back and Crisp should then get more mid time.
Holding Ridley ‘cos the Bombers mids were awful and won’t be that bad all year.
Holding Whitfield too for now.
I didn’t see the GWS game, anyone know why he scored so badly?

Daz

Watched the game, it was hugely contested in the first half which doesn’t really suit his game. Opened up a little in the second half.

KookyLicious420

The ball was kinda slippery in Swans-GWS clash, alot of clangers, low disposal efficiency. The players who scored goals did well (Heeney, Parker, Green). Whitfield wasnt as effective as usual, but still got over 20 possies. Im holding him as his efficiency will improve. i think he will still average 90-105 come years end

The Ranger

Thanks for the intel Kooky

Kat

Think I will do one corrective rookie move of Owens to Martin (via DPP) this week but will be watching closely next week how Steele goes. I know we don’t trade out premos but if he scores below 100 for 2 weeks in a row he will lose a fair bit of coin and for top dollar, I want bang for my buck. I know potentially it may be a wasted trade but if needed I could pick him up later at a cheaper cost. I usually let myself have 2 corrective trades at the start of the season. Last year it was trading out Neale when many were saying hold, he will come good. I saved a lot of money there. Will wait and see until after ROund 2 though. Hopefully, he comes good. On another note what are people’s thoughts on Hewitt? Is he a must-have? Very cheap for his output if he repeats.

Russty_

Hi Kat, I’m watching Hewett for another week to see how he goes but he did look good, kinda like the first year Steele wasn’t a tagger anymore, not sure if he’ll have the same role when Walsh gets back but reckon I’ll be onboard Hewett if he scores well again this week and McInerney doesn’t for me.

Harry

Thoughts on trading C. Rayner? Not sure why I went with him. over Gresham in the first place…

Russty_

Sounds good to me Harry, Gresham looked good and would’ve scored probably 120+ if Higgins wasn’t such a scatterbrain.

Rick Grimes

Nice pod lads. Only trade I foresee is getting Davies in for that numpty who scored 2 points. I know I should wait, but Davies is a cash cow and that other guy is dross.

TRIGGA HAPPY

No moves this week.
Give em another go.
Most went well or as expected.
Couple bit below see how they go this week.

Noticed a few teams running two or even 3 rooks on field in the fwd line.
Remember these guys are small fwds and not gonna kick 5 goals a game.
Might just need to temper the “gonna score 100 each week” expectation.

Daz

Agree Trigga but having my backline pump out 400 points makes my finger itchy. I’ll hold this week. I picked L Ryan expecting with the talls back he’d be freed up and score well, was this a silly move?

Daz

T Green is a clone to Rowell and Oliver. A huge watch this week.

Daz

Nice pod guys, Luke McDonald has been SC relevant, 140 points at 372,1k deserved a mention.

Rick Grimes

This is his 9th season. Career ave of 70. He had a purple patch of form in 2020 where he notched up 7 tons and averaged 95. He’s certainly capable, but he now has to share points with a couple of other seagulls. I worry he’ll fluctuate a fair bit. Plus he’s only managed 41 games in the past 3 seasons. Priced awkwardly to boot.

Lazza

A bit of a dilemma this week… last year I wanted to make an early correction trade but decided to follow the SC wisdom and wait to R2/R3… then I got hit with injuries the following 2 weeks week and forced trades meant I wasn’t able to make the early correction.. don’t want to be caught out again this year so will probably go early. I could make two to fix a dpp structural problem, but probably not.
i kept Darcy in my team last week and was able to loophole him to take Hayes score (cheers John for the suggestion), If he doesn’t play this week I could try the same play, but the potential $$ windfall having Witts/English with Xerri is tempting.. what are peoples thoughts?
I wanted Lloyd in my DEF.. had to swap him out for R1 and went with Ryan 🤨, I’m tempted to do a straight swap if Lloyd is named.. rage trade. Anyways, have a bit of trade planning to do over the next couple of weeks to ‘correct’ any shortcomings.
Pretty much nailed the rookies, though $180k Ward’s performance is concerning. Like most I had a couple of rookies on the wrong side of the boundary. Probably switch this week and find myself in the same boat next week. 😁

Russty_

Hi Laz, so you’re saying Ryan out for Lloyd and Darcy out for who exactly?

Lazza

Hiya Russty, yeh Ryan to Lloyd… though I don’t have Hewitt either, so that might be a better medium term option.
If I have to take Darcy out it would be for a mid-price R2 ( Grundy to become R1) with a rotating fwd option. I currently have Hayes and Dixon.. so I’d consider English as the R2, possibly adding Xerri up FWD with the assumption that he will become RUC DPP @ R6.
Given I’d need to use 3 trades by R3 to achieve this, the alternative option is to swap Darcy to Witts which would give me cash for a rookie to Hewitt upgrade rather than a sideways on Ryan.
Plenty to think about.

Russty_

I think I like the 2nd option mate, Darcy to Witts and Rookie to Hewett, and keep Ryan, Ryan usually averages 100 ish, I know he only got 70 but his d/e was high although he had 3 clangers, He should be ok I reckon. Could wait on Lloyd to see how Blakey, McCartin and McInerney affect his scoring?

Crippa321

Good stuff lads. Week to hold I reckon!

Tophawk

Might pull one trade this week. If Owens misses he will be straight switch to Corey Durdin. I have the cash to do that. Then watch the premos and rooks next round. Then pull the trigger and make correctives if required. Steady she goes!

Derek

Only if you need Durdin on field. Otherwise wait a week

TRIGGA HAPPY

Geez I know I said I would go with the Fire sale team last year after the way it performed but didn’t have the cohones to go through with it.
After the score this team pumped out rd 1 bloody should have taken the plunge.
The fire sale team has no player over $550k (except Dunks – couldn’t leave him out)
Dunks VC, Neale C.
The beauty of the fire sale team is no rookies on deck but as pruess didn’t play rd 1 i had to downgrade gresham to daicos and curnow to rachelle to afford Witts. but they are the only two on field and fairly handy additions.
Team is below:
Def: Daniel, Sicily, Whitfield, Hewett, Blakey, Ainsworth. (McCartin, De Koning)
Mid: Adams, Neale, Treloar, Serong, Green, Rowell, Shiel, Daicos. (Mead, McDonald, McGinness)
Ruck: Big O, Witts. (Hayes)
Fwd: Dunkley, Heeney, English, Butters, Cogs, Rachelle. (Dixon, Martin)

Rd 1 score – 2592!!
No trades this week after a score like that!
Will give treloar another week but may become bazlenka next week depending on how they both go. 🙂

The experiment continues ……..

Russty_

The guy who top scored this week had a bit of an out there team too.

Lazza

Yeh, must admit the leading team’s makeup surprised me.. could easily be back in the middle of the pack after this week… she/he has a few I won’t be bringing in even if they’re still number 1. Probably explains why I’m not.. hahaa

Russty_

Yeah could’ve been just going for the weekly high score, plenty of peeps do that, with their 567 vpn’s they can use.

Murray

TU trade out Ridley, Ward and Baldwin
TD trade in Lipinski, Hewitt and a 102k fwd ( like a Ned Long)

Murray

Thoughts on trading out Ridley, Ward and Baldwin and
trade in Lipinski, Hewitt and a 102k fwd ( like a Ned Long)

Lazza

Ridley to Hewitt is reasonable, but you could/should wait and see after next week’s game, unless you need to execute more than 2 trades next week to fix your team. Seems your looking at 3 this week and there could be additional next week – I guess that’s the dilemma (it is mine too). There’s always the option to tap into your burst trades but you really need them as insurance for Covid cases and probably better used over the byes.
Having said that it’s a bit early on Ward.. but at $180k you’d want something better out of him by next week. Do you have $102k FWD Hayes?
Baldwin is still in the black, but another performance like that and he’ll probably become a slow burner or out of a job anyways.

Murray

Hi Lazza, am doing only the two trades to save my boost trade. Proceeded with Crisp to Hewitt ( pleased I did as Hewitt got 117 last night) and I think I will do the Ward to Lipinski. I already have Hayes and Nic Martin. I guess I just want to go hard early and pick up some quality mid pricers (who I think are great value and will go ok this year)

Derek

Baldwin looks like being dropped this week, and Ward is struggling with an ankle.

Murray

Hi Derek, I think I will move on Ward to Lipinski

Derek

Ward is selected to play this week.

Do you have the cash, or does it need a downgrade somewhere else?

Murray

hi derek, i had the cash from the crisp to hewitt trade

Derek

Feeling good after week 1. Easily beat my 1857 estimate haha

Last minute Decided to go Taranto to Butters, Crisp to Whitfield, Raynor to Brodie and Berry to Rowell.

3 and a half ticks. Although wasn’t happy when I saw Taranto’s score, but Butters came through.

Had Martin on field, another tick.

Hayes on bench, can’t win them all.

Kept Ward, even though I said he wasn’t a good pick.

C on Steele. Hurt a bit

Ridley easily worst Premium with 68.

2239 leaves me back in the pack, but not too far away from the good coaches. Not unhappy.

Highlight of week was watching Rowell. Even though in 50% of teams, was glad I’m one of the owners, beautiful to watch, got smashed but got back up.

No trades this week.

Derek

Ranked just inside top 40,000.

Worst starting rank since 2015

Lazza

Hi Derek,
Wasn’t impressed with Ward… I swapped Maginness out for him, screwing my DPP structure in the process… 😡 might become Hewitt or maybe Green this week or next.
Be interesting to see where some of those high scoring oddball teams are in a couple of weeks. I was sitting in the 200’s 2nd round last year and was quickly put in my place a couple of rounds later… March champions and injuries can impact quickly. I’m sitting north of you, so hoping my trajectory is the reverse of last year.

Russty_

That’s a lot of last minute moves mate after all the pre-season deliberation. Taranto to Butters, not much gained there but Ideally you’d want both I reckon. Rayner to Brodie, good call…maybe Gresham better in hindsight, Rayner still looks like Rayner.
Berry to Rowell, now that was inspired mate, we’ve just gotta hope Rowell stays injury free now, (can’t believe Rioli got off for that dangerous hit) could’ve been the end of Rowell’s season. I thought I had a decent start to the season until I saw the leader some 350 odd points ahead…crazy week haha

Derek

all those moves were to get Rowell.

Lazza

Hearing that Cerra is out this week (Covid) . So he becomes a R4 consideration.
What are peoples thoughts on Cerra with Walsh coming back soon?

harryhoudinis

Hi All,

2190 first round which was reasonable although suffered from woefully underperforming backline. Somehow I did manage to get every rookie on field selection correct however. My thoughts, welcome to comment:

  • Crisp still had 63% mid time. Ridley had shocking mid support. Whitfield, well, bottom line is I’m hanging onto all 3. Picked them for a reason
  • Maybe controversially but I went Xerri over Rachele. Up and coming ruckman over 1st year small forward. Despite last week I’m staying firm. Rachele won’t kick 5 every week. I think CCJ goes out before Xerri
  • Treloar is my biggest worry. I was never fully sold on him and had either De Goey or English instead pre season. Have to wait one more week but the dilemma next week is either trade one of them in or use DPP to get Rowell in. However, surely Rowell against Melbourne not so big this week?
  • Does anyone know Luke Foley (WCE)? With a lack of rookie backs, is he an option at 245k?
Derek

JR SURVIVOR GROUPS

This week will be the start of the JR Survivor Group Elimination rounds.

We have roughly 30 teams in each of the 9 Divisions, except there are a few places left in Division 4 & 5.

We need 7 players for Division 4 – Code 283169

We need 9 players for Division 5 – Code 389280

Please don’t join if you are already in one of the other divisions (although you can move from one to the other – there are a couple of divisions who have 34 players and if you can jump across to even it up)

Thanks fellas.

tofaco

Patchy said crackalackin, names were butchered, sleeves were adored – the world is ok again and its safe to go outside. I’ve missed you boys!
Even better, the mike volumes are pretty balanced so Lek isn’t shouting while Patch is whispering, happy happy times.
Not a carlton fan but felt feelings watching that game, what a year it’s gonna be – clearly Doch has been drinking some of Boak’s stem-cell potions.
Love it boys, thanks again.

Derek

Might let me get Hayes on field this week

Russty_

Thanks Lek, dang hope there’s not too many out in one week.

Shake n bake

Don’t think De koning Owens ward Baldwin and obviously Martin play this week. I have Skinner as my loop up fwd and l think he plays.

Curlyfries

Guys… had Darcy last week, named out and traded him to nic nat now stuck with him. Don’t think he will be a top 4 ruckman after the weekend. Wondering if I should just make the easy move to gawn or look at English/big o.

Opinions more than welcome.

Keep up the good stuff

Lazza

Don’t forget to reset your Capt/VC and Emergencies before tonight’s game folks.. I only just remembered when I reversed my rage trades just now .. Macrae into Oliver for me this week… well at the moment that is …

Shake n bake

Dusty a non starter 🤔

Derek

first it was Jack Martin

Then it was Nic Martin,

Now it is Dusty Martin….

seriously?

Shake n bake

Some teams might have to pull the trigger just to make corrective trades fwd.

Derek

JR SURVIVOR – Round 1

I always hate listing the coaches who get immunity. Reminds me there are good coaches out there that get good scores.

The following Coaches wear the Immunity Necklace this week, and therefore can’t be eliminated

Div 1: The Kookaburra (2454)

Div 2: Vicwood (2517)

Div 3: Topgun (2479)

Div 4: Tiger Boys (2422)

Div 5: Same Olds (2334)

Div 6: Dam Dogs (2466)

Div 7: WTF (2431)

Div 8: Upyachupa (2472)

Div 9: 88 MPH (2424)

Some familiar names. Vicwood already has a cupboard full of Immunity necklaces from the past few years and starts the year with a lazy 96th overall rank.

*****IMPORTANT NOTICE*****

We have about 30 teams in each division, meaning we will need to have THREE coaches eliminated each week from each division in order to have the TOP 4 teams in each Division merger to the CHAMPIONS Division after the bye rounds.

Therefore the bottom 3 team round 2 scores in each division (unless you have the Immunity Necklace this week) will be eliminated.

In the case of a tie, the team with the lowest overall rank will be eliminated.

thanks fellas

Derek

There is still room for 5 players for Division 4 – Code 283169

There is still room for 5 players for Division 5 – Code 389280

Alternatively, if anyone in either Division 2, 7 or 8 would like to jump across to Division 4 or 5 to even up, that would be great.
