I agree Derek and he’s not a 90+ player when at his best with maximum opportunities so why bother?
Except we’ve been told that some of the big guns aren’t going to play pure mid. So either that’s a red herring, or Berry is getting a bigger slice of the mid pie. So we have to base our decision on current performance, not historical data.
Moreover, a lot of people a pumping Chapman at a similar price. He’s got a career average of 56.
Chapman is amazing to watch and will be a gun one day.
However as you said I want some proof before I pick him at that price. He’s very versatile and could be made to lock down if the Dockers get injuries. I’m trying to keep all my risk in the FWD line and keep the rest pretty vanilla
Still really unsure of my starting team.
Got a Grawndy version with five premo mid keepers (Neale at M5) but this version only goes three deep + Answerth in def and three deep + Cogs in the fwd line.
Also got a mid priced version with Rowell and English that allows me to go deeper in fwd and def.
Hoping the POD will help but I think I’m gonna be leaving it right up until the last minute.
I know what you mean Dex, can’t really plan a side without knowing the rookies who are locked. Holty’s philosophy is ringing in my ears, ‘limit the risk’.

Just an observation Ranger, you are saying you have 3-5-2-3, 13 premos which include Grundy and Gawn? PLUS Cogs and Answerth. So you have no rookies over 123k?
I shouldn’t have used the word premo Kevan, it’s too subjective. I should have just said keeper. And you’re right, that version gave me very little wriggle room with rookies.

I’ve got a very similar set-up with 13 keepers and a very light on fwd line. 95k in the kitty for rookie adjustments. Good luck for the season.

JR SURVIVOR is BACK
Back by popular demand is the JR SURVIVOR GROUPS
Everyone who has been involved over the last three years should know it works.
We start the season with a number of groups, with about 24 players in each group. Last year there was 9 groups, but this will all depend on how many want to play.
Each week TWO teams from each group will be eliminated.
The two teams eliminated will be the two lowest scores in each group for that round only.
In case of a tie (yes, this has happened a few times) the team with the worst overall rank will be the one eliminated.
However, the team with the HIGHEST score in each group for the round, will be rewarded with Immunity from elimination the following week (When the numbers get small, this is massive). When immunity is used, the next lowest team will be the one eliminated.
There won’t be any eliminations in Week 1.
Every week from Round 2 onward, there will be TWO teams from each group eliminated until there are only 4 teams left in each group.
We won’t play during the byes.
After the byes, the remaining teams will MERGE into the CHAMPIONS of CHAMPIONS GROUP (this is where it gets tough).
Depending on how many teams we have in the Champions Group, we will then have another TWO teams eliminated each week until the remaining teams go head to head in the Final Round of the year.
The winner will be crowned Survivor Champion of Champions.

Is Neale a keeper if his output only matches last year?
He’s not a great forward and the talk from Brisbane is that he will be spending more time in that part of the ground to ‘share the load’ in the middle. Bailey will get a lot more mid time, Rayner might get some as well then they also have their last years fleet plus Berry.
I have him but I am starting to think I should swap him for dunkley
Not if he only averages 100 but I think that was affected by his injured body, can’t see him not being mostly an inside mid if he’s fit for it. Even if you do take Dunkley over Neale you’d still be moving Dunks fwd and have to get another mid eventually but I guess then you could jump on whoever’s running hot at the time.
Berry scored 82 SC points. Not sure you can expect much more for a $260k player. If he averages that you can make an easy step to a fallen premo in 6-8 weeks time. That’s SC gold in my book.

Worst premo – I know he’s battled injury but Neale has had a very ordinary year. Sidebum was a terrible pick too.
No real regrets on trade outs, they were all either injured or topped out rookies. N.Cox maybe. Went too early on him.

Best starting premium would have to be Oliver
Worst starting premium was Neale although I did trade him out before losing money and my biggest mistake was picking Caldwell over Ziebell. I liked Caldwells DPP status but not having Ziebell all year cost me dearly in points.
No real regrets in trading out any players (maybe Highmore but got a premo so ??) Maybe biggest trade regret was getting RIdley and Martin at their highest prices and not trading Hunter Clark sooner and so losing money in waiting.
Had one trade left for finals and used it in round 21
No Silverware for me but runner up in A Graders and a terrible ranking 11,936. Took some rookie scores and a donut or two during byes to save trades
Jack Steele will be my first premo picked, very consistent and plays for Saints so can enjoy his scores. Also Oliver and Macrae.
Zac Bailey will be my 2022 smokey, was looking at picking him up all year and paid the price for choosing Sidebottom over him as my last upgrade
Interesting to look back. Still wanted Bailey in my team this year but he’s not there as couldn’t afford him, needed the $$$’s so have Butters instead. WIll be interesting to see if I regret it
Just find a way to get him in Kat, but it’ll probably depend on what rookies are starting.
