Around the Grounds – Round 17

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Around the Grounds. We’re getting closer and close to Supercoach Finals, it’s just a few weeks away and unfortunately the Supercoach Gods aren’t being too kind to us as we ramp up towards finals time. Just this week we’ve lost Hugh Greenwood, Changkuoth Jiath, Kyle Langford and Lachie Whitfield. If you’re like me with only 4 trades left and you need to move two of these players out, then you’re likely going to be running on empty trade wise by the time SC Finals roll around. These are the challenges that Supercoach give us though, so all we can do is take what we’re given and look to move through it. Hopefully you’ll get some help on that front here. And let’s get to it…

Victoria

Not tons on offer from a downgrade perspective, but at this point of the year you may be prioritising how much cash you’re making from a downgrade, rather than the replacement points you’ll be getting. That means while Lachlan Bramble is the best option for a cash perspective, Leo Connolly may be the better trade in option because he’s going to give you more $ to play with from an upgrade perspective.

  9. Tariek Newchurch – MID/FWD – $102,400 – 2.1%
  10. Lachlan Bramble – MID – $222,500 – 2.0%

Rowan Marshall is still at a great price of $438,900, he’s running with a 3-round average of 87.7 SCPoints with scores of 68, 100 and 95 in his last 3 games. Those last two games would be a good baseline to pencil him in for going forward I’d think. De Goey is similar, cheap price, but has a 3-round average of 117.7 SCPoints and a 5 round average of 102.2 SCPoints. Mills is on-fire down back with a 3 round average of 117.7 SCPoints, while Hind has been a bit up and down, he has a 5 round average of 98.6 SCPoints, but has scores of 75, 136, 61, 87 and 134.

You’ll also notice players like Ginnivan, Chugg, Edwards and Newchurch being heavily traded in, they’re the cheapest of the cheap players, so that’s just a sign of people looking to maximize their cash balance for upgrades.

  9. James Madden – DEF/FWD – $257,000 – 2.5%
  10. Riley Thilthorpe – RUC/FWD – $313,200 – 2.3%

No total surprises there, CCJ, Jiath and Whitfield are injured, Weightman and Thilthorpe have hit their ceiling, Flynn is back to not locking down a spot, while guys like Bianco and Highmore may have more time in them, that’s something we’re running short of at this time of year.

  9. Jordan De Goey IN for Kyle Langford – 0.4%
  10. Emerson Jeka IN for Callum Coleman-Jones – 0.4%

Lots of downgrading going on there, though the low %’s show either that there’s a very wide breadth of trades occurring, or teams are locking in their downgrades early and then waiting for team sheets to then do their upgrade move. The 0.4% of teams who brought in Langford may be looking to reverse that trade though!

And that’s it for me this week. Don’t forget to check out Lek and Patch in this weeks Jock Reynolds Podcast, where they discuss Sleevewatch among other things. You can find that auditory goodness here. Also since he’s a total workhorse, Lek will be pulling double duties this week as he joins Damo and Clarky in this weeks JR Mailbag as well. As usual you can see me on the Twitter @BarronVonCrow or whack a question or comment below. See you all next week!
