Around the Grounds – Round 16

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Around the Grounds. We’re 16 weeks into the AFL season with 7 more to go, which is getting to an awkward place to be where we may be running short of trades, but also it might be a bit too early to say your team is at the set and forget point. What the last week has shown us is it may be the time to try and find a few bargains on offer, particularly in the forward line, which can save you some cash for later trades. So let’s go look around the joint and see what’s on offer.

Victoria

Collingwood

Collingwood made a strong final quarter push, kicking 5 goals to nil but fell just short of catching back up to the Saints, losing 70-61.  Trent Bianco (DEF/MID, $203,900, BE 7) had 12 disposals, 7 marks and 4 tackles for 58 SCPoints, Caleb Poulter (MID/FWD, $301,800, BE 92) had 14 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles and 7 clangers for 34 SCPoints, Nathan Murphy (DEF, $191,200, BE 14) finished with 8 disposals, 3 marks and 3 clangers for 26 SCPoints and Finlay Macrae (MID/FWD, $191,200, BE 54) played just 10% ToG for 2 disposals and 6 SCPoints.

Wayward goalkicking cost the Demons in their VFL matchup as well, booting 7.12 to 8.7 to go down 55-54 against the UWS Giants. The Saints were up by 7 goals headed into the final quarter, but only registered 2 points in the last, but it was enough to still take a 70-61 win over the Pies and move 1 game outside the 8 on the ladder. 4. Nick Blakey – $245,700 – AVG 49.4 SCPoints
  5. Archie Perkins – $214,400 – AVG 49.1 SCPoints

Not the week to look at forward line downgrades with no good and cheap options available. Finlay Macrae is affordable, but points scoring potential is low, but in terms of pure cash coming back into your pocket he’s one of the better options available, so must be considered. Same goes for Max Holmes who has questionable job security so far this year.

No surprise to see Dangerfield on top of the traded in list again this week, especially after that monster score he produced. Jeremy Sharp is on the bubble this week and looks like a great trade down option. Rowan Marshall, Bailey Dale and Jordan De Goey are the cheaper forward options being picked up this week as well.

CCJ is being moved out after his calf injury cut his game short on Thursday. His BE of 90 is achievable, but with that score of 5 in his rolling average he’s likely to lose a bit of cash even if he does suit up this week. Highmore has a bit more cash generation in him, but at an OK price to move out if you can upgrade, while Impey and Cameron are being moved due to injury and Flynn and Jordon have both peaked. Great job, lads, you’ve done your work for us this season.
