Panic Room | Round 12
The byes are finally here! The main cause for panic in the SuperCoach community, minus maybe that 24 hours before round one kicks off.
Six sides are missing this week, it’s best 18 on field, so let’s get into it.
Newz you can Uze
Brisbane has brought back Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale for the clash against Melbourne. Ryan Lester will also return, with the pair replacing James Madden (ouch) and Rhys Mathieson. Tough luck if you traded Madden in.
Tom Highmore has been dropped again, replaced by Hunter Clark. When Saints hit their round 14 bye it might be worth cutting your losses with him. Joel Amartey, Robbie Fox, Tom Hickey and Logan McDonald have been named for Sydney, with Kaiden Brand, Callum Sinclair, Dylan Stephens, and Hayden McLean dropped.
Ronin O’Connor comes back into the Adelaide lineup with Nick Murray dropped. Sam Berry will also miss through his injury sustained last week. Jamie Elliott, Max Lynch, Jay Rantall and Josh Thomas are named for Collingwood, with Brodie Grundy, Callum Brown, Chris Mayne and Tom Wilson missing for a variety of reasons.
Aaron Francis has made his way back into the Essendon side, with Brandon Zerk-Thatcher dropped again. Marlion Pickett will replace Toby Nankervis as a like-for-like, while Shane Edwards will come in for Hugo Ralphsmith.
Michael Gibbons has been ruled out with injury, but the four of Paddy Dow, Zac Fisher, Jack Newnes and Luke Parks are all on the extended bench. West Coast is fielding possibly its weakest side in a while, with Brandon Ah Chee, Oscar Allen, Jarrod Brander, Tim Kelly and Josh Kennedy all out injured. Brayden Ainsworth, Harry Edwards, Luke Foley, Zac Langdon, Xavier O’Neill, and Nathan Vardy have been named to return via the extended squad, while Zane Trew may and Luke Edwards will debut.
Only one out so far for Fremantle with Sam Switkowski confirmed injured, with Reece Conca, Griffin Logue, Matt Taberner and Joel Western brought into the squad of 25. Ryan Gardner, Mitch Hannan, Stefan Martin, Anthony Scott and Rhylee West are in the Bulldogs squad, with Riley Garcia and Lachie McNeil out.

Oh Captain my Captain
Another big Friday night clash. Lachie Neale returns and has had ample time to sort out his back woes. If you have him, not a bad option, but be wary since he’s missed a chunk of matches. Clayton Oliver is in rare form at the moment and must be considered, his last three against Brisbane in Queensland have been 177, 103 and 146, while Jarryd Lyons dipped below 100 for the first time last week.
Jack Macrae plays on Sunday, and while he hasn’t traditionally scored well against Fremantle, he’s been in great touch recently. Marcus Bontempelli has also been scoring superbly this year, and averages 111.3 against Fremantle in his last three. Jack Steele scored 129 against the Swans last year and is in good nick too.
