S C tragic

I’m sooo confused normal round-best 18 what is the latest. Life is like a box of chocolates, why are we only getting the hard chewy ones, sc is challenging enough this season. Will normal ever be normal again?

Russty_

Probably not until the whole world is vaccinated SC Tragic.

Russty_

Thanks for the pod lads, I had Clarry as VC in regular SC and Draft so that was good but I still suck at Supercoach.

Russty_

I have a question for yas, why dont we see Patch, Damo, Clarky, Fozzybear Barron etc posting like they used to in the comments? ..and where’s Kev, I miss Kev.
Also how do you become good at Supercoach cause I suck bumballs.
Also…why is Lek such a sexy dancer?…LOL

Who needs sleep anyway?…go! the only person on the site people, late at night in the Eastern states. 😉

Paul

I’ll join you Rusty!

Russty_

Alright Paul!…it’s you and me bud.

Lazza

Don’t know why, but it has taken till now 5pm Wed for the comments to show up… looked like no one was on, so I didn’t post what I thought would be the first post … the boys really need to ditch the software they are using … I’ve been on other sites that lost the majority of their patronage because of similar ostrich like behaviour..

Russty_

That’s weird Laz, you may already know this but you have to click on home and then refresh to check for new threads, also I have to log in constantly with the wordpress symbol, and then refresh after that to show myself as logged in.

Lazza

Yeh, tried that multiple times through the day to no effect… actually, I have to refresh every time just to see new posts. Fortunately I get an email when a member posts, so at least I know it’s there even if I can’t see it till I refresh.
🤔 I wonder why we don’t get emails when a new thread is created? I don’t use twitter or Facebook any more… maybe that’s where things are “announced”..

Paul

Hey Community!
Currently sitting 119 and would love some help!

Initial thoughts for this week are to double downgrade to free up the cash I need for Grundy asap!
But I’m open for any ideas. Thanks all!

Doch Lloyd Laird Daniel Stewart Jiath (Highmoore, Mansell)

Oliver Macrae Kelly Fyfe Walsh Titch Brayshaw Jordan (RCD, Berry, Poulter)

Gawn Flynn (Treacy)

Ziebell Dusty Daniher Zorko Heeney Warner (Scott, Waterman)

Thanks in advance for the wisdom!

Russty_

Hi Paul…what a co-incidence seeing you here as you are the only other one here besides me, who is also here 🙂
My advice for your situation is…trade out Highmore for Madden and Scott for Weightman…and hopefully somehow you have enough money for Grundy next week 🙂

Paul

Haha yes, a coincidence indeed! Lol.
Thanks mate, got 49.3k in the bank. If i use Scott and Warner then i have plenty and can get Grundy next week.
Only thing is that Warner would be super handy to keep around across the byes.

Russty_

I’d probably do it because Warner has been fading the last 3 weeks and also…this podcast was way too long Lekky and Patcherama. Maybe forfeit a bye week for the benefit of your overall result.

Keenbutclueless

Hi Paul

first congrats on the high ranking. Makes me feel dubious about giving advice. But for what it’s worth, here goes:
round 11 Scott to Madden
cash balance 207k
round 12 Jiath to Chugg
flynn to Grundy
cash balance 247k
round 13
rcd, Mansell, waterman
to Whitfield, rookie rookie
cash balance 366
round 14
berry and Warner
to Neale and rookie
balance 308k
round 15
Poulter to Dangerfield

this will leave rookie cover as Highmore in Def and Madden in the forwards. Madden could also cover Def through Chugg. Plus the rookies you bring in. I chose Chugg to give you the dual cover, plus the cheaper rookie might mean only one trade to Dangerfield in Round 15. Might still need 2 trades, but it gives you the chance of 1.
with this plan, I see your byes looking like:
round 12, 14 premo + 7 rookies
round 13, 13 premo +7 rookies
round 14, 13 premo + 7 rookies

good luck for the rest of the year

Keenbutclueless

And for what it’s worth, I also considered Daniher to Bolton in Round 14. This would mean definitely two trades in Round 15 to get Dangerfield. Probably involves Highmore down to a rookie. Which would make the Chugg/Madden swing more important.
but I didn’t know how many trades you have and wish to hold, or whether you considered Daniher a keeper

Paul

Thanks mate I really appreciate the thoughts, super helpful and will be great if it comes off!
Only thing I’ll consider is now that it’s best 18 this week, might look to double downgrade and grab weightman. Reckon he doesn’t average 80 for sure, but I think he’s got his spot for a month and can help through the byes.
Rnd 14 bye is the one I’m most concerned with!
Thanks again KTC, great advice!

Paul

Cheers Lek! Weightman and Madden…. anyone else we should be considering or they’re the 2?

john

Haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but a question on Madden, Lester is down for 2-3wks on the AFL site, would it be better to grab Briggs if named despite only playing the one game as a replacement for Taylor 6-8wks instead or just grab him the following week?

David C

Lester is now listed as test, might even be a chance for this week. Don’t think I’ll be going down the Madden route.

john

Thanks for the update David, I’ll look at Briggs then if named. 👍

john

I suppose the other alternative is if Madden and Lester are named then it makes the decision easier and his spot (Madden) to lose.

Kat

Could be handy to have one of Madden and Briggs in Fwd and Def with their DPP and be able to swap easily when needed.

HarryH

Yep I can see Madden playing the next 2 then dropped after the bye with players returning. But part of me still wants him in as I need the cash for the byes and there’s simply no other rookies to choose. Weightman and Madden aside, who else is there? Even Reeves for ruck isn’t solid. Apparently Ceglar’s not far away. Getting Madden and Briggs in for flexibility- and Briggs may play more second half of the year if Mummy’s cooked- isn’t a bad call

Pieman

Great pod as always boys. Wondering peoples thoughts on Darcy Moore? Had 3 sub 70 games when he got thrown up forward but he’s now back to pumping out 80-130s. Could be a value pick for $420k

TommyC99

I like him a lot for his price, but his bye is very off putting. Lloyd, mills, Laird, May, Ryan to name a few

Derek

Whitfield

TommyC99

Hey guys, have been planning on bringing Cerra In this week since he got injured, but the mccreery injury has thrown those plans into chaos. I was going to trade Scott – cerra by swinging Macrae fwd. but now I cop a 0 if waterman doesn’t play. Should I:
A) do the trade anyway, and hope waterman/mccreery play next few weeks
or
B) bring in Nick Hind instead. Which means I don’t rely on waterman and mccreery, and also allows me to field Jordon and RCD instead of just 1

HarryH

I reckon depends on your structure. I’m passing as I only have 1 mid spot to fill and will go for a Jelly, Titchell, or maybe Neale if I’m game. If I had 2 spots I’d be keener.
The other risk is injury. Trying to avoid any injury interrupted players (hence reluctance on Neale) considering the injury count this year. I would say Hind is a safer pick having not missed a game and more consistent scoring. Contract talks also may distract Cerra as he may be going back to Victoria next year also

David C

GIANTS ruckman Braydon Preuss will be sidelined for at up to five months after tearing his pectoral muscle in the gym. Flynn and Briggs stocks just went up.

HarryH

Yep just saw that. Good for my SC team but certainly feel for Preuss. New club, was going to be first ruck and now his whole season ruined and Flynn may be number one ruck in 2022

holty01

Preuss out for rest of season. That will help Flynn and possibly Briggs.

Rick Grimes

I’d love to have Flynn knock up another ton, then boot him for Briggs. Take the profits and buy a uber premium.

Rick Grimes

Whitfield is cooing sweetly to me. Could be a great POD. Nice bye.

Derek

I’ve got him penciled in after his bye

The Ranger

I’m not sure on Whitfield, high ceiling but a low floor too.

Rick Grimes

Yea he does have the odd low one, but it tends to be when he gets injured. Last year he scored an 8 when ko’d, but nothing else below 84. 10 of 16 were tons.

The Ranger

If my sense of duty to the leagues I’m in didn’t forbid it I think I’d be giving up on this season. Eight injury trades so far and still looking at Bowes, L.Jones, McCreery, Scott and Campbell all with the dreaded red and white stripes next to their names.
I’ve managed to avoid a donut most weeks but might struggle this week. Just gotta keep hanging in there but jeez, what a year!

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

6 injury trades for me, seemed to have one nearly every week up to round 8, just about killed my season before it started, team is now worst than what I started with and trades are at very low levels, so will have no option but to keep rookies like Jordon and Warner.

The Ranger

Sounds like we’re in the same boat John, the injuries have been compounded by the lack of rookies coming thru too. Only Weightman I’m interested in this week and I’m not convinced of his JS and he’s expensive.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Hi Ranger, yes the injuries sure put a damper on the season, so much so that I’m considering not coming back if they don’t give us some compensation for injuries next season, thinking something like 5 trades that can only be used to replace injured players. I’m hoping Weightman will be good enough to stay in the bulldogs team for a while, yes he is expensive, but not sure what other option we have, I sure don’t wan’t to keep Scott any longer.

The Ranger

I’m not a fan of increasing trades generally but I don’t mind the idea of additional trades that can only be used for injuries or suspensions.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Scott to Weightman is locked. Then I have to decide between upgrading to Rich, downgrading to Madden or just doing the one trade.

The Lost Boys

Same! I’m thinking a double downgrade as I don’t know how many rookies will be on the bubble over the next few weeks ^TC

dontblushbaby

Tom Lynch out for 4 weeks, I would expect Colman Jones 164k Ruck / Fwd to replace him

dontblushbaby

Riley Garcia to debut for the Dogs with Treloar out

dontblushbaby

Hawks & Suns game to be postponed this week, interesting that they both have the R12 bye

The Lost Boys

AFL has confirmed they will have the bye moved from r12 to r11 and play the game sometime later.

Lazza

Cool, I don’t have players (on field) for either team ..

The Lost Boys

AFL website has updated the article – the may play this week after all:
The AFL has informed both clubs the match will be moved from the NT with contingencies being worked through on the possibility of having the game played at another venue.
However, should that not be the case, both the Suns and Hawks will have their planned bye moved from round 12 to 11.

DEESNUTSRBIG

Watch out for James Jordan (BE 75) selection over the next couple of weeks. Has been butchering the ball by foot for few weeks now (they love his tackling & hand-balling) and could be due for a rest or be the medical sub.

Derek

I was trading him out this week. He has maxed out

demonsdelight

Yep out of mine with scott fot BOAK

The Lost Boys

So with no Hawks – Suns this week they will play all three of the bye rounds – does that make trading in Touk Miller after this round a good option as premo cover for all 3 byes? Already have Titch.
And does mean I need to keep CJ to cover all three byes, or trade to one of Jelly or Whitfield this round??

Lazza

Miller is now a short term buy .. just keep the trade differential in the bank to trade back …

Derek

They were always going to play round 13 and 14. Doesn’t change much unless you were weak in round 12

holty01

Awesome again lads

MFC

is it true that supercoach scores will be the ‘best 20’ for round 11?

Lazza

Hasn’t been the case in the past where there were two teams who played off shore and had their bye round the following week before the official bye rounds .. so history says No.

MFC

Yeah I was basing the question based on information rumored to by herald sun that was given to me at 6:45pm and 15 minutes after I asked the question here it was confirmed on the supercoach site that it would be best 18.
Just because something has happened before doesn’t mean that it happen the same way the next time. Players at the tribunal are the classic example of this Fritsch raises the elbow to KO powell and it’s Powells fault for putting his head in front of Fritschs elbow, Plowman contests a mark and crunches O’Meara in the process and Plowman is deemed to have committed a dangerous intentional bump.

Derek

We might get more trades

Russty_

Hope so…I need them Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Russty_

Thanks Lek…so it’s 4 bye rounds now?

demonsdelight

Try putting these in order Bont Clarry Tracca and Macrae The best i can see is Bont and Clarry 1 or 2 then Tracca.//MMacrae 3 and 4 but 1 2 3 4 is too hard

demonsdelight

Tracca lek?

holty01

Macrae, Bont/Oliver, Petracca.

demonsdelight

Macrae the best ? bit of a surpruse Holty

holty01

Macrae is the only one who has proven he can’t be tagged. Performs every game. All great players. I think people will look at this list and think who has the biggest ceiling (biggest potential game) but I look at who is the most consistent. Someone who performs week in week out. And I think Macrae over the last 3 years has been the most consistent.

Russty_

Oliver, Macrae, Bont, Tracca for me bud. Only reason Bont and Trac are bottom 2 is the consistency compared to the other two.

demonsdelight

i thought consistency would surface Tracca looks like the no. 4

Russty_

Consistency is everything Neil Demons delight, that’s why it’s Clarry and Macrae for me..Bont can swing in and out of form a bit. Tracca needs to back up last year before he becomes an uber.

Lazza

From SC or ability/impact perspective ?
Actual – Bont, Oliver, Macrae, Tracca
SC – Oliver, Bont, Macrae, Tracca

demonsdelight

Thought about that also and my opinion i s they are equally good at both as in how you placed them I agree with one of yours just not sure which one Lazza Trying hard to eliminate bias though

Derek

On value, Patracca at $100k+ cheaper

demonsdelight

Tracca definitely value but probably the worst performer but i would still have him in my team

holty01

Great value mate but I think he would only come into your side at this time of the year if there was no chance to bring in the others.

derek

after i broke my bank a few weeks ago to get Gawn in (when Flynn didn’t get named) i’ve had to go on the bargain hunt. TKelly, May & Steele last 3 weeks. Not overly exciting, especially as Gawn has been getting cheaper.

Have a choice this week of going Jordon to Petracca or Brookman to Heeney, both in the bargain bin

holty01

I’m in the never again basket with Heeney so I’d go Petracca.
In relation to breaking the bank, I will always select 5 players at the beginning who I feel will definitely be in the top few in their position. I don’t care what I have to pay for them as it’s far easier to fit them in your team when you have that $11million in your salary then trying to find the funds during the year. Although looking for value at the start is great, not having the likes of Gawn, Grundy, Oliver, Macrae, Lloyd (not so much this year) can cripple you as these players are must haves and you seem to have to go to extra lengths to try to get them in. These were my first 5 selected.
Bont is the one I missed and probably bad on my behalf but I probably wouldn’t even have had him in my top 10 starters at the beginning.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Clarry, Bont, Macrae, Petracca.

holty01

Wow, that might make me change my plans. Thanks Lek.

Derek

The chances of the Tigers and Crows game happening must be in doubt

derek

they did it last year when the Melbourne game was postponed. I remember because i didn’t have either Whitfield or Sturt who both had low injury affected games, i was looking sweet until the AFL made the round best 18 only.

derek

Any Bye planning i have made can go out the window. who knows what the next 4 weeks will look like.

Russty_

Stop yelling at meeeeeee 😉

14HD14

Should I trade out our Powell for Cerra this week?
I want to jump off Powell before he loses much more and get Cerra while he’s cheap, but also don’t want to stack my R14 bye too much. It would make my bye looks like this currently:
R14 Bye: Laird, Rowe, Murray, Mcreery, Grundy, Pendles, Maynard, Highmore, Lloyd, Warner, Jordan, Gawn, Cerra = 13 out (17 in, 2 of those are DNP rookies)
I anticipate I’ll be trading out Rowe, Warner and Jordan the week before this bye though so maybe doesn’t really matter?

TommyC99

Very good chance that the dees dogs game is postponed due to a Melbourne player being in an exposed site. That would through SC into absolute chaos being the 2 most SC relevant teams being out. I’ve got 6 in that match alone. What would SC do if this eventuates?

Donavan

Bye-Bye Bye Round Planning

derek

yep. there could be 12 teams having a bye next week, who knows

David C

Oscar Clavarino ( DEF $123k) will debut in Round 11.
Does Highmore miss out again?

demonsdelight

Fairly positive the unnamed demons player is an injured player still in rehab Trying to suss out more so relax a bit it’s not Clarry

David C

Word is it’s Marty Hore. This could be comletely wrong though.

Russty_

Makes sense…it was a dirty hore lol

demonsdelight

Definitely a rehab player at melbourne who visited a tier 1 bussiness

TOPHAWK

Source?

Russty_

Sweet chilli otherwise Peanut/Satay thanks mate 🙂

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Scott to Weightman still a go for me. With both Highmore and L.Jones playing can put H.Clark on the bench and upgrade him next week. CJ even though he is playing, it is time to go with him pumping out rookie scores and will downgrade him to Madden.

Derek

Scott to Madden for me. His DPP is great.

TOPHAWK

I am looking to cull Scott for Madden also. Is his JS great tho?

Russty_

Not if he drops a 25 this week mate, hopefully that doesn’t happen.

Derek

Best option there is. Even if he doesn’t play again, his DPP lets me trade Kosi or Highmore out later

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

What Russty said, if he plays alright he should keep his place at least until their bye in round 13, after that who knows, we might only get two games out of him.

holty01

Weightman for me Hawk. $50k more but I’m looking for JS through the byes and I believe he has far more then Madden.

Derek

did you see how fast he runs?

Russty_

Yo peeps, anyone know what Hunter Clark’s injury is? cheers in advance.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

No idea Russty, all I know is that he’s been playing sore the last two games, so maybe he’s getting the rest he needs.

JohnDJ59.Black Flag

Groin.

holty01

Who not to play out of Weightman, RCD and Rowe?

TommyC99

I’m a little worried about RCD with all those tiger inclusions. In saying that I’d probably not play Rowe, but I wouldn’t listen to me I haven’t fielded rowe’s good scores all year

holty01

Cheers Tommy. Rowe is interesting. Hasn’t gone below 70 in 3 weeks but yet I still doubt his scoring capabilities. RCD will be interesting with a lot of the mids back. It might actually help him not being one of the main men.

Derek

Rowe’s TOG is always around 80-85% where RCD struggles to get near 70%. With more tigers back he will simply get less TOG

holty01

Cheers mate. And I guess I can look at the fact the game is no longer being played at the MCG. That should help my decision also.
