Panic Room | Round 2
Friday means it’s time to panic. Our sides were locked in last week, and many hoped there was a reset button after some putrid scores from premiums last week.
Rucks are dead, long live rucks, right? RIGHT???
What do we do with “premiums” scoring 80?
It’s time to panic!
Newz You Can Uze
Carlton fans will feel they missed out on an opportunity to start the season 1-1 for the first time in nine years, however Collingwood were too good in Thursday night footy. The big news out of the match was the return of Brodie Grundy (135). Can you say return? He played like he usually does, with 51 hit outs and 16 disposals. Darcy Moore (118) is suddenly a viable $430k option in defence, scoring 119 and 118 in the opening rounds. Taylor Adams (119), Jack Crisp (122) and Scott Pendlebury (111) all tonned up for the Pies, while Sam Walsh (105) was the only centurion for the Blues. Concerns are building for Patrick Cripps (82), who hasn’t started as expected. He had 21 touches and five tackles, but also had five clangers. Questions will be limitless in the lead-up to round three, with many coaches thinking of other sub-$550k options.
Four changes have been made by Geelong for their Friday night clash against Brisbane. Pat Dangerfield, Sam Menegola, Zach Guthrie and Josh Jenkins are all missing, through either suspension, injury or omission. Francis Evans ($123,900 FWD) is making his debut for the Cats, while Charlie Constable, Zach Tuohy, and Jack Henry will return to the side. Tom Berry will coming into the Brisbane side, with Keidean Coleman losing his spot.
Nick Murray ($102,400 DEF) has been confirmed by Adelaide to debut on Saturday against Sydney. James Rowbottom has been confirmed out with a knee issue, while Buddy Franklin will make his return. Fun fact: The last time Lance Franklin played a game of AFL, he had no kids. Now he has two. Justin McInerney will also return, Will Hayward and Hayden McLean have been dropped, but Hayward is expected to be the medical sub again.
Hamish Hartlett will return for Port Adelaide, with Riley Bonner coming out of the side due to injury. Tom Rockliff still hasn’t forced his way into the side, and finds himself as an emergency and a chance to be the medical sub. Essendon hasn’t made any changes.
Zak Jones and Max King will come into the Saints lineup for Jack Bytel and Daniel McKenzie. Jack Viney will return with James Harmes fracturing his wrist.
Ben Ainsworth has come into the Suns side in an effort to replace Matt Rowell, who has suffered a PCL injury that will sideline him for the majority of the season. Jed Anderson has returned for the Roos at the expense of an injured Curtis Taylor.
Heath Chapman ($148,800) will also debut this round, with the Fremantle defender to play against the Giants on Sunday.
