Panic Room | Round 2

Published by Fozdaddy on

Friday means it’s time to panic. Our sides were locked in last week, and many hoped there was a reset button after some putrid scores from premiums last week.

Rucks are dead, long live rucks, right? RIGHT???

What do we do with “premiums” scoring 80?

It’s time to panic!

Newz You Can Uze

Carlton fans will feel they missed out on an opportunity to start the season 1-1 for the first time in nine years, however Collingwood were too good in Thursday night footy. The big news out of the match was the return of Brodie Grundy (135). Can you say return? He played like he usually does, with 51 hit outs and 16 disposals. Darcy Moore (118) is suddenly a viable $430k option in defence, scoring 119 and 118 in the opening rounds. Taylor Adams (119), Jack Crisp (122) and Scott Pendlebury (111) all tonned up for the Pies, while Sam Walsh (105) was the only centurion for the Blues. Concerns are building for Patrick Cripps (82), who hasn’t started as expected. He had 21 touches and five tackles, but also had five clangers. Questions will be limitless in the lead-up to round three, with many coaches thinking of other sub-$550k options.

Four changes have been made by Geelong for their Friday night clash against Brisbane. Pat Dangerfield, Sam Menegola, Zach Guthrie and Josh Jenkins are all missing, through either suspension, injury or omission. Francis Evans ($123,900 FWD) is making his debut for the Cats, while Charlie Constable, Zach Tuohy, and Jack Henry will return to the side. Tom Berry will coming into the Brisbane side, with Keidean Coleman losing his spot.

Nick Murray ($102,400 DEF) has been confirmed by Adelaide to debut on Saturday against Sydney. James Rowbottom has been confirmed out with a knee issue, while Buddy Franklin will make his return. Fun fact: The last time Lance Franklin played a game of AFL, he had no kids. Now he has two. Justin McInerney will also return, Will Hayward and Hayden McLean have been dropped, but Hayward is expected to be the medical sub again.

Hamish Hartlett will return for Port Adelaide, with Riley Bonner coming out of the side due to injury. Tom Rockliff still hasn’t forced his way into the side, and finds himself as an emergency and a chance to be the medical sub. Essendon hasn’t made any changes.

Zak Jones and Max King will come into the Saints lineup for Jack Bytel and Daniel McKenzie. Jack Viney will return with James Harmes fracturing his wrist.

Ben Ainsworth has come into the Suns side in an effort to replace Matt Rowell, who has suffered a PCL injury that will sideline him for the majority of the season. Jed Anderson has returned for the Roos at the expense of an injured Curtis Taylor.

Heath Chapman ($148,800) will also debut this round, with the Fremantle defender to play against the Giants on Sunday.

FearTheBeard

Mills or Dunkley 😐

Donavan

Dunkley, track record is pretty good, and there are more (better) options in defense (Lloyd, Laird, Daniels, Ridley, Stewart).

FearTheBeard

Got Laird, Daniels, Ridley, Stewart. Waiting for Lloyd to bleed. Can always move Laird down too…

I feel Mills is a safe option in the midfield role now? Or am I tripping?

Bob Butter

I’m in pretty much the same position and am going Mills. I feel like he has huge upside and could be the swans number 1 mid this year now that Parker and Kennedy are getting on.

Rick Grimes

Luke Parker is only 28. He’s arguably in his prime and is no1. Buddy back maybe frees Heeney to run through the middle more often, possibly taking points off Mills. Don’t get me wrong, I like Mills, but as a defensive selection. Better mid options available imo.

Bob Butter

I agree that there are better mid options but I would rather Mills than Dunkley. Swans are looking to provide greater opportunities to the youth this season and there’s less competition, meanwhile there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the dogs midfield, I think as Treloar gets fitter he takes midfield time from Dunkley.

Pranav

Is it still possible to make leagues after Round 1 has started?

Big G

I am still keen to join a league if the answer is yes

Pranav

Sweet as I’ll drop a code after the game opens up for round 3 can’t seem to make a leagye atm and I’m assuming I should be able to once lockout is over and everything is updated

Russty_

Yeah I used to start a league after round 2, so you can do it any round of the year…earlier is better though so that it fills up quick.

Pranav

I’ve got the option to create/join a group but no option to create/join a league do you think you maybe it’s not possible during the middle of a round or rolling lockout?

Russty_

Yep I think you can’t do it during lockout.

Jlo

Berry or Jordan? Who has the most job security for a rookie correction.

Rick Grimes

Jordan, personally. But I have both. When M Crouch comes back probably pushes Berry out. Crouch is out at least another week tho.

Donavan

Where is the best site to watch the team drop for the Saturday games.
I know there was a site which basically had a live dropping of the team, as the clubs submitted them

Deafness (DM)

what’s the deal with team drops now?
they used to all drop at the same time

Donavan

No, there used to be a live feed, which revealed the teams progressively as the clubs submitted them. All teams would be revealed over a 30 minute period.

Hedski

AFL.com.au 6.25pm the night before. For example Sundays teams will be dropped 6.25pm Saturday night.

holty01

Hi all. Just heard on the grapevine (not sure how accurate it is though) that Cripps is struggling with groin and lower back issues. That would explain as to why he has no explosion out of contests.
Anyway, good luck to all this round community

GJS

He’s moving like an old man. Considering rage trading him next week

John

I rarely trade premos as 2-3000 thousand former Grundy owners have just found out, they come back and bite you hard, but I just can’t see Cripps making me pay for trading him out next week, I’ve held Danger as I believe he’ll be a top 3 (average) in his position, I’ve got all the essential rookies, so I’m pulling the trigger next week on Cripps-who’s now turned into a speculative top 20 mid, to anyone up to 550k will be my first trade of the year-Mills, Ridley Dusty etc all vying for my attention this round.

Derek

Holding Danger is an interesting move. Didn’t even occur to me when he got 3.

If cats had a late game and a bench rookie had a big score to loop Danger with this week, maybe.

John

I was going to use Danger as C if Cripps bounced back this week, his first half was outstanding against the Tigers but fell in a heap once their mids kicked into gear, I didn’t hold as much faith in the Collingwood mids shitting him down but they did, probably should of went vanilla and Vc’d Grundy. On another note, having Neale next to Cripps in my midfield is working out just jim dandy!

John

“Shutting” 😏

Deafness (DM)

Hey community, play safe and field Sharp tonight or trade whichever one of McNeil or Bruhn get dropped for James Jordon

GJS

Jordan likely to score higher

GJS

need to remove Danger and Rowell
Tossing up between Titch, Mills, Ridley and Bailey Smith. Really think the new rules suit fit blokes like Baz (reminds me of Johnny Platten
Any late suggestions greatly appreciated

ThatsGoldJerry

Who is Baz ?

GJS

Smith

Derek

He has a long way to go before you can compare him to the Rat.

Dja

Cripps to Darcy Moore this week

Russty_

Jeez it’s not fun owning Neale at the moment, he’s been hassled and tagged out of the game, wonder if he’ll even get to last week’s score?

gator59

16 points at half time boy oh boy wow wee

Russty_

It ain’t pretty mate, I want my money back.

gator59

The mrs has the vc on him too

Rick Grimes

Might hold Rowell and do a swap in a few weeks!

Russty_

Yep he’ll probably be 500k in a couple of weeks, and will every side tag him from now on?

Derek

Pies next week. They don’t tag

Hedski

As a non owner Russty it’s great seeing the cats smashing him around like Adelaide smashed us around last week

The Ranger

All of those that didn’t start Neale would be pretty happy right now!

Russty_

Hey Hed yeah your blokes need a good win this week, I think they’ve got under Neale’s skin and upset his applecart

JohnDJ59

Getting close now, even with the biased umpiring.

Derek

Brisbane deserved to win. Cats have been winning the close

S C tragic

OMG Neale is killing me, well breaking my heart to say the least. Good sense tells me hold, but feeling twitchy. Picked him because he is Neale. Rd. 2 long way to go.

PeteB

Keen to bring Jordan in for either Downie (DNP) or Lazzaro (3). Not sure I’ll get a chance to check Hawk selections tomorrow night before the North game. Could wait another week but if injury or suspensions force other changes I might get stuck with to many non cash generating rookies on my bench. What should I do ?

Derek

Wait Jordon another week. Viney back, he won’t be getting much time in guts like last week

david

Yeah Viney is back but Harmes is gone. Jordon wont lose any mid time

Derek

Jordon had a massive first half and then scored 5 for the whole second half last week. I’m not rushing him in on that performance until I know which half was more real

david

He had a big practise game then a poor aami then stood up when it counted in his first afl game. I wont be suprised if after 2 rounds his average is equal to Brownlow medalist Neale’s
with 3 mid bench spaces to fill he’s currently the most viable option, unless your mids are so stacked that you have Gulden at M9

Rick Grimes

Gee, underwhelming from Stewart, Zorko and to a lesser degree, Clark. All pushing for a middling 80-90 score.

Russty_

Stewart always seems to come home strong, he just got handed 22 points for some reason.

Derek

After Clark’s goal I didn’t see him. Fell asleep

Derek

Clark was on 63 at 3/4 time

Lekdog

Zorko losing 20 points for a dumb 50 in the fourth quarter hurts my soul

holty01

Wow, that 50m penalty just cost Zorko 23 points. Was on 90 and went down to 67. That is ridiculous

holty01

Take it back, lost 26 points. Down to 64.

Russty_

That’s ludicrous, who are these guys who sit up in a dark room making these decisions about how many extra points they’re gonna award or take away?…depending on ‘the importance of the moment’…blah blah blah, what a crock.

holty01

Hurts more that I have him I must say. How’s your round going? Mine is capitulating very quickly

Russty_

That sucks for ya mate, Zork didn’t deserve that points theft, I have the VC on Grundy and I had my pod Adams so not terrible mate and also not great with Neale, Stewart and Clark.

Shake n bake

I got him in aswell. I’m the biggest complainer on this site. Only because we just don’t really know how things work. Even thou we have guidelines. It still doesn’t make sense when l have about 20 examples each week that are just bull…. But late last year l promised not to again. So l won’t.

Rick Grimes

Yea don’t get that. Harsh AF.

Rick Grimes

In fact we need a please explain from CD. Can’t just arbitrary take off 20 points. If that last htb had been rightfully called, is that -50. FFS what a crock.

holty01

Yeah it was poor. Zorko loses 26 and Smith doesn’t get any extra for kicking the winning goal. CD should not have the right to pick and choose who they reward/punish extra points to as who knows what motivation they may have to make these decisions.

david

With so much money at stake for the winners I’m suprised that their scoring system hasn’t been audited to ensure that it isn’t corrupted for financial benefit.
I reckon that if I offered some button pusher on $70k p/year half of the main prize to ensure that my POD team members were always looked upon favourably with scaling and the most popular players that I didn’t have were looked upon negatively, I might do better.

Lekdog

Stings the nostrils

Russty_

Oh well at least Neale has been consistent this season 😉

Rick Grimes

Gee, that was BS. Lions robbed.

JohnDJ59

Umps were barracking for Geelong.

Russty_

Absolutely…that was a certain goal after an obvious free not paid, and all the throws they allowed too.

JohnDJ59

I’m amazed they didn’t join them for the song at the end. Happens at Geelong all the time, but this was the worst that I have seen.

Russty_

I don’t think those guys will be working again anytime soon John…or they’ll be in for some severe reprimanding and re-training as to how to do their frikkin job.

JohnDJ59

I don’t even barrack for Brisbane and I was getting angry, as for Selwood, he gets away with it all the time, throwing the ball, ducking his head.

Russty_

Kinda wish I’d left Neale out now, I had him out of my lineup for ages cause you can do some good things with an extra 200k, should’ve stuck to my guns.

JohnDJ59

I was the other way around, had him in my team nearly all pre-season, traded him out just before round one.

The Ranger

I’ve got no skin in that game but jeez, the umps didn’t have a great night.

Derek

I would have loved to see cats lose. Love hearing Scott complain about everything. What was his problem at half time? Not a good look for an AFL coach

david

No doubt that the lions were robbed and that crucial missed free was one of many to both sides. As a fan of footy who has no interest in who wins I say that tonight was the worst umpiring that I have ever seen.

demonsdelight

I replayed it and no excuses he had clear vision of that just a weak call

david

In that case lets send the pr!ck to Brisbane and let the rednecks tar and feather him. 🙂

Vicwood.

Oh yea of high horse. How is your $20 cup of coffee. Hot.
It’s what happens when betting agents run sport.

Lazza

Lions robbed .. umpires have no clue what constitutes a correct disposal .., Selwood goal from incorrect disposal.. and the clincher denied..

Rick Grimes

Selwood could play halfback for the All Blacks with that pass.

Russty_

And it was directly in front of the Ump’s eyes, he was too gutless to blow the whistle, shocking performance all round tonight.

JugHead

With McInerney injured, it will be interesting to see what ruck time Daniher gets for the next few weeks. Daniher clearly started playing further up the ground and Hippy stayed deeper.

Derek

Daniher had a good second half, almost won them the game. He might be in my team for a while

Derek

I think I might have my DPP donut loophole players sorted out. Might even have two. Sharp and Fullerton were way off the pace tonight

Rick Grimes

Sharp was anything but. Will be lucky to get a run next week.

Russty_

Coleman played 13% and beat Sharp’s score lol, I’ll have a few too including A.Fyfe

Derek

I had Fyfe in team, but jumped on sharp when he got named. Won’t make any cash but a handy DPP and loophole now

JohnDJ59

Except Brisbane don’t play any late games until round 12 during the byes.

demonsdelight

A bad decision there Lions stiff .So obvious too

holty01

Agreed, although I still thought the better team won for the night.

Derek

Selwood was huge for the cats

holty01

He was outstanding. Still think Hawkins took the BOG though.

demonsdelight

would have been huge for storm too

DEESNUTSRBIG

People say umpires are cheating or are they just weak easily influenced little men, notice what happens when West Coast is at home, last week Richmond with a full crowd against Carlton and Chris Scott down at the cattery. Hmmm.

Bob Butter

The ump definitely had some idea of how long was left and was too cowardly to blow the whistle. If that happens in the first quarter it’s a free all day of the week, doesn’t get any clearer than that. Saints vs GWS last week and this game were 2 of the worst umpired games I’ve seen in recent memory. I think umpiring skill is definitely getting worse and the fact the AFL keeps adding new rules isn’t making it any better.

Russty_

Rule changes aside Bob, a lot of the blunders were just simple calls, throwing the ball and rewarding a legit tackle with a free, it ain’t that hard!

Bob Butter

I agree 100%. Shocking either way. Have missed some clear throws and holding the balls, I feel like they don’t care half the time as long as the play keeps moving. Some of the deliberates have been shocking too. It’s clear a lot of the umps have never played a game of footy in their lives, there’s a clear difference between frantically kicking the ball out of a pack and deliberately trying to get the ball out of bounds. I think we need more umpires who actually played the game at a relatively high level.

david

All true Bob.
You’ve probably also noticed the bias towards media/fan favourites when it comes to umpiring decisions.
The game has never needed any of the rule changes made in the last 20 years. What it needed was correct interpretation and application of the rules as they stood. The Man must ‘Stand the Mark’ was the original rule and originally the man stood still then he began to edge sideways and the umpires let it happen, then he began to arc around the kicker to cut off options and the umpires allowed that.
What did they do? A new rule that the man mus ‘Stand still on the mark’.
Have a look in a dictionary Standing and Standing Still are the same damn thing!
Next year we might get a new rule that a player ‘must not throw the ball’ instead of the current rule which (confusingly for umpires) requires the ball to be “punched from/off an open hand”.

DEESNUTSRBIG

Wasn’t called mid priced madness for no reason.
How many of these players do people have in their team?
Neale has to be shorted surely, whats his breakeven next week?

Lekdog

Over 200 by my calculations

The G Train

CD has been an absolute joke so far this season, showing clear bias towards certain players. Neale just gifted points in the second half, didn’t deserve anywhere near 75 with that performance, meanwhile Zorko loses over 20 points for giving away a 50 (I don’t own either player fyi). Seems like they’re just making it up on the fly.

The Ranger

Anyone brave enough to sideways Neale before the price slump and bank some cash?

Bob Butter

I would if I owned him, could easily lose $150k or more in the coming weeks. If you trade to a T Kelly it could potentially be a 250k or more swing. Definitely worth the trade imo

david

if he scores 90 next week he’ll drop 70k
if he scores 130 next week he’ll drop 50k

Rick Grimes

I think it’s clear to all teams that a hard tag on Neale pays dividends. The blueprint is there.

JohnDJ59

I traded him out just before round one started, thought he was overpriced and would get him cheaper down the track, if I still had him, I’m not sure, since I would have already used two trades for Danger and Rowell. If you think he will be a top eight midfielder, keep him, if not trade him out.

david

Wise move John. Danger and Grundy were the only players from the top 3 most expensive in a position that I started with this year.
Last years scores were so inflated that they were all sure to drop large amounts this year and the more expensive that they are the more $ they will lose.
I also started with a genorous number of mid pricers who have done well enough so far to make me believe that I will be able to have 20 premos on field before the byes

demonsdelight

you just have to hold these prems certainly more than 2 weeks I nearly held Danger but the swans have a few valuable players i want

david

Swans are a goldfield mate and they suit my bye structure perfectly. I have a few of the nuggetts already and I’ll be sidewaysing Caldwell to Rowbottom the week after next. He is a GUN

demonsdelight

He kicked an 80 metre goal of the year in the neafl He is a gun alright very underated

JugHead

I’m not. But there have been a few brownlow winners who followed up with a much quieter year. That bothers me.

david

Is there any chance that Brockman will be dropped from the Hawks team?
I have the VC on Grundy but my only non player is Rowell and I want to trade him for Andy Brayshaw.

JohnDJ59

Exactly my thoughts David.

Russty_

You could just whack the C on Oliver David, shouldn’t be too much diff from Grundy’s.

david

‘Cept that Steele bloke will probably wear him like a rash vest

Russty_

Steele doesn’t tag anymore David, Ross could go to Clarry but I doubt he could stop him.

david

Thanks Russty_. I’m confident in Oliver getting 120 but 10pts equal 20pts when its captainised and 20 points at the start of the season can be 1,000 ranking places.
I’d much prefer Brockman to get dropped for 5 weeks so that everybody sells him and then he comes back with a fistfull of 80’s

Lazza

10 points = 10 points Davo when you have both players eg
120 x 2 = 240 + 130 = 370
130 x 2 = 260 + 120 = 380

david

Thanks Lazza I see it and it adds up but I’m having trouble getting my head around the bit about my score will only be 10 points higher.

JohnDJ59

I have the C on Clarry, expecting a 110 – 125 score from him.

david

If Brockman doesn’t get dropped Oliver is my only choice, Merrett and Bont were disappointing last week and I don’t trust them to not repeat it.

demonsdelight

or Gawn

david

I thought maybe Flynn. He’ll be up against Meek and he did ok last week

Russty_

That would take some seriously large cojones David, he was good though and in the wet to boot.

Last edited 16 days ago by Russty_
Rick Grimes

Im thinking of Rowell to Cerra. Am I just drunk?

david

Cerra looked really good last week and you don’t get an advantage by stacking your team with the same players as everybody else. Dockers are riddled with injury so his current role and minutes are safe. Do you believe that he can continue with this form when you’re not drunk? 🙂

The Ranger

That’s probably the trade I’ll be making mate, I had him in my team a few times over the preseason. Similar price bracket, should av 105+, decent M8 at worst. Nice POD at the moment too.

demonsdelight

Bet I know who’s first Statty Matty’s cheat sheet this week

Lekdog

:’D

Derek

JR SURVIVOR GROUPS

Eliminations start this week

Stay tuned for details.

Our divisions are almost full except we have a few too many players in Division 5 and not enough in Division 9

Anyone who knows they are in Division 5, could they jump out and join Division 9.

Div 9 Code 277782

Based on the numbers, there will be 4 eliminations from each Division each round prior to the byes (more from Division 5 if teams don’t move across)

The remaining teams will merge after the byes into the Champion of Champions group

I’ll announce who won immunity for this week once I’ve had time to sort out the divisions (there are a few teams have doubled up in more than 1 division)

Thanks fellas

david

I just joined group 9 ‘Garden Goblins’ kick me out if I shouldn’t have

Last edited 16 days ago by David
Derek

No prob. Good to see the Goblins in

TOPHAWK

That Lachie Neale is an absolute tool. He has been around long enough to break tags. He has always been pretty good at it. I am absolutely ropable with his first two efforts. Pathetic…..I am only using one trade this week. Danger to Mills via DPP. I have most of the good rookies so there is no need to get Jordon or Young this week. I can just sit back at have a look at them before they go on the bubble.

Having saved a trade this week, it gives me the option to do a very rare rage trade or sideways trade, call it what you like. Neale is priced to average 135SC and is currently averaging 77SC after his first two games. He will probably be good for 120SC against Collingwood as they dont tag a lot. Even if he gets a score around that mark next week, his 3 game average would be around 90SC. In other words, his price is about to absolutely crater. Once it is said and done, he will probably drop $150K or even more depending what he dishes up next week. If I punt Neale to a Clayton Oliver or Titch I will save $150K in the inevitable Neale price drop and potentially pick up $50K in the Clarry or Titch price rise. Net cash benefit of the trade around $200K. Thats what a trade is worth.

Now knowing Neale, the prick will bounce back and crap all over me once I punt him. But thats fine. When his price levels out, I will simply trade him back in later.

I might decide to hold him and wear the losses if both Jordon and L Young tear it up this week and I need to use both trades to secure their services. I will sit back and see what happens.

But by god, Neale right now is set to be removed from the Tophawks side. Who else is seriously considering dumping the bloke?

Cheers, TH

John

I’m in the same boat mate and pretty peeved right now, but I’m also not willing to burn 3-4 trades getting him back in and that’s where the problem lies.

TOPHAWK

Hi John. You are correct. You can quickly get caught up in a multi trade scenario to get him back. Because thats the kind of bloke Neale is. As soon as you punt him, he will crap all over you. I am only using one trade this week to punt Danger. I have all the key rooks. Just need Jordon and L Young if they do well this week. If they both play well, my hands are tied. Neale stays and I will cop his losses as both trades will be used to get those two rooks. I am just going to sit back now and see how things unfold. But to say I am ropable is an understatement. Cheers mate. TH

demonsdelight

Absolutely 100% disagree TH You picked Neale as a prem for good reason and to dump him after 2 rounds is madness mate. iF he drops even a few 100 it will only matter if you trade him He is the current Brownlow medalist for f sake ,he has a little bit of talent NDD

TOPHAWK

My rage has somewhat subsided NDD. Ater playing Warner, Gulden, and Campbell all onfield today. Big tonnes to Laird and Mills close to tonning up after trading him in today. Zak Butters is on 94 SC AT 1/2 time. So, Neale stays as most of my other rooks are making big cash. Common sense always prevails NDD. Thanks for the spray mate. I needed it. Cheers. TH

Derek

Never crossed my mind to trade him.

There is always a bit of a Brownlow Bust the following year, getting more attention but that will die away as teams worry about themselves more.

The cats were ruthless last night, a shame really for footy, in the end they almost got beaten (should have been) and they might look back and say they were too Neale focused.

Like all gun players, 8 contested disposals in last quarter, 4 clearances and 42pts, he was a big reason the lions almost won.

Yes the Pies don’t tag and yes he will get his BE next week

I just say good luck to those who didn’t start with him, you might get him cheaper, but when?

TOPHAWK

Neale can stay Derek. I have calmed down after a fit of rage. Who is the better pick out of Jordon or L Young? I can hold off and watch them this week and save a trade. Cheers. TH

FearTheBeard

Community truly in panic lol.

Got one trade to make.

I can take a defender, mid or forward via swings.

571,600 to spend.

Tossing up Mills, McGrath, Brayshaw, Tim Kelly, Dunkley, Stephenson.

I am pretty much feeling Mills, T Kelly or Dunkley.

ANYONE help me lock this in and fast lol. Thanks guys.

TOPHAWK

Hi FTB, I have decided to go Dangerfield to Callum Mills via DPP this week. The backline is lacking decent rookies so I am determined to finish that line first. For me, Mills makes that perfect fit. And also, he was absolutely sensational last week. He deserves his spot in my team. First time I have owned him and am hoping he does the business. Cheers mate. TH

Last edited 16 days ago by tophawk
TOPHAWK

The fact that Rowbottom is out should help his cause also.

FearTheBeard

I’m going with my gut ! Welcome Mills!

TOPHAWK

Hahaha!! Gut is always best!! I hope you were leaning towards Mills before I put my two bobs worth in. LOL Fingers crossed he delivers for us.

Derek

I really like Mills. I thought of him for Danger, but I have a deep defence already (jClark at D6). Just doing Danger to Dusty so my structure stays the same

Kelly is a great straight swap for Rowell owners, $20k needed. I don’t have Rowell.

Dunkley is a must as a top 6 forward

TOPHAWK

I have moved Laird to the midfield for a bit. I want to finish by backline of first as there are very few decent rooks down there atm. I grabbed Mills today who was steady with his 93SC. I will take that. Next on the hitlist is Josh Dunkley. Zak Butters is doing me proud today. He is an absolute jet. Cheers. TH

Marvin

Hi fellas. Weighing up 2 options
1. Rowell to mills but would need to do Tyson to a rookie (Lachie young, McDonald or Berry) to fund it
2. Rowell to May and keep Tyson for another week.

Which option and if 1, which rookie would you go? Currently leaning mills- I like may but it’s inevitable he gets suspended for a few weeks for punching someone in e head or something equally stupid.

Derek

Can you do straight trade to TKelly

Marvin

Yes I could do that. Reckon he’s a keeper?

Derek

He won’t be far away.

looked awesome at home last week, let’s see how he travels

but for his price he is unders. Only a few bucks more than Rowell.

Doc

Rowell to Heeney, Cerra or Jordan?

Derek

Heeney easy best of that lot

Lekdog

Cerra

Rick Grimes

Rowe, feast to famine.

Russty_

Yeah right?!..c’mon Rowe the game has started

tbone19

Wow I’m really liking Gulden, looks like a future star. McDonald and Campbell super promising as well. Rowe needs to pick up though this score is going to be diabolical haha

Deafness (DM)

Swans became scary again so quickly

Russty_

Hope Rowe isn’t one of those one and done rookies.

Derek

I’m guessing that everyone has Rowe and everyone has him on their field

Russty_

True that mate, the difference for me would’ve been Brockman or Fullarton, Gulden and Campbell helps ease the pain!

Derek

I had Rowe on bench last week and Bookman on field, you can almost guess what Bookman will do now

Shake n bake

I still left him on the pine. Played Campbell

Russty_

Wow this Gulden kid is a freak of nature, how can a rookie get so much ball so soon…hope it lasts for awhile.

dontblushbaby

Yep, might put the VC on him next week,92 pts at 1/2 time

AuroraBorealis

Braeden Campbell looks to be an absolute gun. Sydney also look like they’ll be a great team in 3 years, so much young talent

Derek

Where do they fit in Gould?

AuroraBorealis

I’ve come to terms with the fact that he’ll never get a game Derek. Was sitting on my bench the entirety of last season

Derek

He was a bit expensive for me to start, but have some cash left from Danger to Dusty trade to go either Fullerton or Sharp (I doubt either will get picked next week) to Campbell

it is Crows away from Adelaide though, and the game is suiting him, but I do like a long left leg

Derek

First half didn’t suit Mills. Ball was rebounding out of Swans defence straight back over his head.

if Crows try and slow it down second half and make it more contested, that will suit him more.

Hedski

Got Heeney in for Danger last night, put Gulden on field this week.
Happy days.
Put Rowe on field this week…….(missed his ton last week).
Meh.
Plan was to trade Rowell to Titch tonight, but I wonder if I’m better off holding Rowell, take Campbell’s score off the bench and play Powell (I can still get it and bench Powell if I get Titch).
Save a trade and get another look at the rest of the round before I trade Rowell, hopefully only rookie correction I need next week is to get Jordan (melb) in.
Thoughts??

Derek

You have to trade Rowell so you can’t really save a trade.

Hedski

Yeah I know I have to spend it Derek but am I better off waiting a week?
I could get another double whammy tho and then I’m fekked, so use the trade today?

Hedski

Seriously thinking of holding and going Rowell to Tex next week, he gonna make some slash, don’t expect him to kick 5 each week but he’ll get to $450k quick

david

Great idea I might do it with Cripps

david

I’m seriously considering Tex Walker as an in for next week back to back 140+ for less than 300k and he looks really good

Derek

Even for the quick cash it’s worth thinking about

The Ranger

Neale to Tex could be a popular trade…

david

That trade would pay for itself even if Neale gets 130 and Tex only 90

Hedski

Same as my point below Dave

david

Yeah I saw that Hedski. He doesn’t need 5 every week but McKay was thrashed by Moore last night and still kicked 4 so it seems like its a lot easier for marking key forwards to kick goals.
Tex layed 4 big tackles and each resulted in free kicks and goals. At one stage in the final quarter he was spoiling on the full back line and 3 minutes later he was laying one of those tackles on forward flank to halt a run of swans goals.
He’s fit and he’s keen it looks like a solid trade and a handy F6/7 wildcard if things go bad and you don’t want Buddy

david

If he only scores 100 next week he’ll go up by $98.7k and if he scores another 100 after that he’ll go up another $53.5k
BUT
If he only drops off a bit and has back to back 120’s his first price rise will be $107.7 and his second price rise will be $69k
His 1st 140+ was in a great win at home and his 2nd was in a comprehensive defeat away, apart from him being 50 years old next year I can’t see a reason why I shouldn’t downgrade cripps to him and use some of the surplus to turn Hunter into Hickey or Brockman/Sharp into Hayden Young

Teague Train

Caldwell has pinged a hammy, so I’m thinking Tex can get into my team, looked at his next 4 games and there isn’t a reason I can’t see him continuing his form, Crows have been competitive in the first 2 games, should find more wins in the next 4 aswell

david

Yep Cripps gets a reprieve. It’s looking like having players that are lasting 4 quarters is the priority and you can’t afford to trade out fit players

The Ranger

What time do the Sunday teams get announced?

Hedski

6.25;tonight Ranger

The Ranger

Onya Hedski.
Got the fingers crossed Downie doesn’t get a gig so I can take Campbells score

Derek

Hawks have to fit Scrimshaw back in, don’t think Downie will get a game

AuroraBorealis

594 from 5 players that game, including rookies. Was fortunate to have Rowe on the bench too, what a start to my saturday

JohnDJ59

Well done AB, a great start to the round.

AuroraBorealis

Thanks John, Butters’ first half is looking to make it even better

JohnDJ59

He sure is going well, backing up last week. I had him in and out of my team for the F3 spot, went with Caldwell instead. He will be coming into my team next week.

david

If Rowe backs up today’s 19 with another 19 next week he’ll make 34k
if he scores 50 for the next 2 weeks he’ll make 48k then 12k

JohnDJ59

I really can’t take a trick with my rookies so far this season. Last week had Rowe on the bench, Brockman on field. This round I went one better, Rowe on field, but also for some reason, moved Campbell to the bench for Jordon and didn’t even put the E on him, since I had the E on Berry, who I thought would do alright.

Shake n bake

I got it so wrong last week played Campbell and Brockman with Gulden and Rowe on the pine this week l put Gulden for Brockman and put Campbell fwd and left Rowe on the pine. Also had Rowell last week 🙁

JohnDJ59

Good moves Shake.

david

Damn ballsy move to put a rookie who tonned up the previous week on the pine. surely you had the E on him and a way to loophole it?

Shake n bake

Had Brockman fwd last week on with Rowe on the pine. So l put Brockman in the mids inn the pine. Put Campbell fwd left Rowe and Scott on the pine.

david

Gutsy

david

It can be difficult in the first few rounds to get the rookies right. Rowe was a suprise last week but I was lucky enough to have him onfield and the Gulden,Campbell,Warner combo have been locked onfield since aammi.
I did have Flynn on the pine last week and hunter at R2 so I didn’t get it all right.

JohnDJ59

Well played David. At least I already have the Sydney trio, just have to make sure I have them all on the field from now on.

Derek

I have to get Campbell this week and maybe Jordon if he has another good game

david

Caldwell to Campbell?

JohnDJ59

Derek doesn’t have Caldwell.

The Jinx

How about that, Seroquel Knocked me out!! I slept 42hrs straight without waking up since Thursday after the blues & Pies game.

Meh!!! My team is horrid this week. 700points from 9. What happened to Rowe, did he get injured or what.

david

Rowe just had a shocker Jinx I think he was minus 6 at HT

Derek

He was a very small forward in an Adelaide team that got easy beaten

The Jinx

At least he’s still making cash. Hopefully he doesn’t get dropped and give us a decent score next week. He’ll be an ok bench cover from here on.

Rick Grimes

Take Berry’s 69 or roll with Jordan?

JohnDJ59

I’d take it, but I haven’t got much right this round, so maybe not.

AuroraBorealis

You’d take 70 every day of the week from a rookie there I think Rick. What if Jordon does a Rowe against harder opponents?

The Jinx

I take anything over 60 from Rookies. Don’t want to risk sub 30s like Rowe from 100+ last week to 18 this week.

david

That’s only a few less than what Gawny scored last week lock it away

Derek

Take it

Jordon scored 5 in second half last week after his 70 first half

david

Merrett 31 at HT. I haven’t got a single 600k+ selection right

TOPHAWK

Zerrett is doing my head in. He is always an absolute roller coaster ride. Lets pray he gets some pill in the second half.

JohnDJ59

Clarry went alright last week.

david

Yeah I also have Caldwell decided to ignore Grundys 130 for VC and went Rowell to Andy Brayshaw and put the C on Oliver.
This will mean brayshaw will have a shocker coz I swapped Danger for Boak and he’s gonna struggle to 100 in a whitewash and Oliver will get hurt in 1st qrtr

JohnDJ59

I really hope none of that happens, I have the C on Clarry and not Max, not sure how that is going to work out, badly probably and I also went Rowell to Brayshaw instead of Titch.

The Jinx

C’mon Merrett take the advantage of junk time.😁

The Jinx

Couldn’t decide between Butters and Heeney flick of a coin Butters got ahead of Heeney. Hope he keeps it up, in the 2nd half.

Should’ve done the same on Cripps and Ridley. The blues are not telling us what’s the go with Cripps, now I’m stuck with him for another week or two. I need to sort out my Rookies this coming week.

I have to get Warner & Jordon before their price rise.

Teague Train

The Sam Draper experiment isn’t looking good, easy downgrade to Flynn if he does well again, but what if he doesn’t
Cripps struggling, Neale struggling, Saad struggled, this season is chalked already

S C tragic

this is the same Rowe who played last week? Must have used all his cookies.

JohnDJ59

That’s it for me for the weekend, Green has been dropped, but has the dreaded sub vest for tomorrow, so I can’t use Berry’s E score and now Caldwell has done his hamstring.

david

and Shiel has done a knee, so has draper

JohnDJ59

I might have that wrong about Green, looks like he’s an emergency.

david

and I was wrong about Draper he only hurt is ankle

david

#Caldwell2Tex

JugHead

Well….this has never happened before…..my full team has been named for rd 2 so I don’t have a loop hole…..I have to go out on a limb and actually select a captain one out….who would have thought this could happen……..
Usually at this point, I have three injured players out, two suspended, two managed, one dropped for getting on the beers and one under investigation by the afl……..

Derek

I had same thing happen last week and this week.

went Danger last week wasn’t good, but C was in the safe hands of Oliver this week

JugHead

I went with Max both weeks. Disappointed last week, and worried again at 1/2 time this week. But he finished well.
