Panic Room | Round 1
By God, we’re here. Lock the doors, bar the windows, shotguns aimed down the hallways. Round one is here, and with it, the lockout.
Teams will be locked in after Sunday. Done, complete, finished. No more swapping premiums, no more toying with structure. This. Is. It.
Newz you can Uze
Carlton is playing Richmond in the Blues’ grand final, apparently. Apart from Shane Edwards being a tool, the first sides have been named!
Lachie Fogarty and Adam Saad will make their debuts in the Navy Blue, whilst Zac Williams will have to wait a week to join them. Paddy Dow has been named on ball after an electrifying preseason. At just over 200k, Mr Wow is a bit more of a risk, but definitely one to generate cash if he can hold his spot and role.
Richmond have named Dustin Martin at full forward, and Shai Bolton at centre half forward, but expect both to play through the midfield. Will Martyn is an emergency and “could” be the sub? Who knows really.
Essendon have announced that Jye Caldwell, Harrison Jones, Peter Wright, Nick Hind and Nick Cox will debut for the Bombers this weekend, whilst Luke Beveridge has announced Lachlan McNeil and Anthony Scott will both debut as $102k rookies. Scott has the added benefit of being a MID/FWD DPP, while McNeil is MID only.
Sydney have announced debuts for Braeden Campbell, Errol Gulden and Logan McDonald, whilst Tanner Bruhn and Matt Flynn have also been named for the Giants. Ollie Henry has been confirmed to debut for Collingwood, whilst Lloyd Meek and Paul Hunter will debut in the ruck this weekend. James Jordan has also been confirmed by Melbourne to feature against Fremantle.
Sam Berry has been announced to play for Adelaide alongside James Rowe. Trey Ruscoe will also play, despite not being a debutant he is rookie priced.
Hawthorn have announced three debutants, with Connor Downie, Tyler Brockman and Jacob Koschitzke confirmed for their match against the Bombers.
Jeremy Cameron is a confirmed out of the Geelong match against Adelaide. The star recruit has re-injured his hamstring and will have to wait on his Cats recruit.
With teams releasing their official sides 24 hours out to their game, this article will get updated each day with team news, but rookies debuting is probably the most important news of the year thus far.
Breakevens are not important this week, since it’s round one, but they’ll feature in this article each week.
Let’s panic together Community!
