Picking a Winning Team in 5 Minutes

Published by Azza on

Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie, playing SuperCoach is a lot of fun.

But sometimes your time-poor or the tomorrow’s impending lockout is quickly approaching and you’ve realised you haven’t yet signed up for BBL SC and made a side.

Well, I’m here to show you that you can pick a winning side in less than 5 minutes.

Step 1

Go to supercoach.com.au and create an account (or sign in if you’ve played AFL/NRL/Racing before)

Step 2

Create a witty team name that will be the envy of your friends.

Step 3: Select Your Wicketkeeper

Wicketkeepers are the anchor of your team, so you want to pick someone here that can take you all the way through the season, with the exemption of Andre Fletcher who has two games in Round 1, and is also a very good choice.

So, using your $2,000,000 salary cap, choose 1 of the following wicketkeepers:

Josh Inglis ($161,900)
Josh Phillipe ($150,800)
Andre Fletcher ($138,000)
Sam Harper ($119,300)

Step 4: Focussing on the Double Game Round Players

Players from the Melbourne Stars are playing in 2 games in Round 1, which means most players will score twice as many points as expected, which is something you want to capitalise on early.

Here are some Stars players that you want to be looking to have in your side. You don’t have to have them all, but 4-6 is a good number.

Marcus Stoinis ($185,700)
Glenn Maxwell ($185,000)
Adam Zampa ($184,100)
Nathan Coulter-Nile ($138,600)
Andre Fletcher ($138,000)
Hilton Cartwright ($115,400)
Billy Stanlake ($75,400)
Dilbar Hussain ($62,500)

Step 5: Planning Ahead with Hobart Hurricanes

Now that you have picked some Melbourne Stars players to capitalise on their double game week, its best to plan ahead and get some Hobart Hurricanes in to set your side up and plan for their Round 2 DGW. Select 3-5.

Players include:

D’Arcy Short ($245,200)
Riley Meredith ($184,600)
James Faulkner ($155,800)
Will Jacks ($148,000)
Colin Ingram ($125,000)
Nathan Ellis ($113,000)
Peter Handscomb ($97,600)

Step 6: Filling the Bench

Select your bench players next, to look at the remaining pool of money you have available to fill the remaining slots on your side.

Be sure to check our Cheapie Guide here, otherwise the best value rookies include:

Will Sutherland ($79,900)
Daniel Hughes ($74,100)
Max Bryant ($67,800)
Jack Wildermuth ($62,500)
Aaron Hardie ($62,500)
Ashton Turner ($62,500)
Dilbar Hussain ($62,500)
Wil Parker ($42,000)
James Bazley ($42,000)
Baxter Holt ($42,000)
Lachy Pfeffer ($42,000)

Step 7: Final Selections

If you don’t have any positions left and have come under budget, well done, your job is done and you can skip to Step 8!

But if you have a position to fill and are looking for other players that haven’t been mentioned, here are some players to fill the last remaining slots.

Kane Richardson ($160,300)
Ben Cutting ($153,300)
Benny Howell ($138,000)
Andrew Tye ($134,100)
Chris Lynn ($131,900)
Adam Milne ($125,000)
Usman Khawaja ($115,000)
Chris Green ($107,900)
Daniel Christian ($105,000)

Or….you could look at putting an Adelaide Striker in your team as a loophole option and to get ahead of the game in Round 2. These are players to target if you have the room.

Jon Wells ($138,300)
Danny Briggs ($138,000)
Matthew Renshaw ($137,000)
Phil Salt ($134,300)
Daniel Worrall ($92,200)

Step 8: Join the Jock Reynolds BBL Group (787034)

And you’re done, easy hey? Who said SuperCoach was hard.

Now that you have a winning side, be sure to join the Jock Reynolds BBL Group on the SuperCoach website – the code is 787034.

So what are you waiting for JR community, head over to supercoach.com.au now and sign up for the season ahead.
