Festival of Fantasy finale

Published by Patch on

We thought it would never end. Twenty days straight of footy very quickly became a too-sweet treat we couldn’t cope with. Heard you like football, eh? Then have all the football in the world!

The last game of the festival of fantasy is tonight, when Richmond takes on the mighty *check notes* Gold Coast. Players play for these teams, and you bet your bottom dollar they’re gonna get possessions and kick goals and things.

I’m very tired.

CAPTAINS

Your captaincy option has played. He’s played. You’ve made your bed, lie in it. You don’t have Dustin Martin as captain. You don’t have Touk Miller or Hugh Greenwood as your skipper. You just don’t, so we’ll stop beating around the bush on the endless quest for #CONTENT.

BREAKEVENS

The Snoop Doggs

160 – Dustin Martin
150 – George Costanza
140 – Touk Miller
116 – Hugh Greenwood

The Lil Jons

-1 – Oleg Markov
10 – Izak Rankine
15 – Jeremy Sharp
17 – Sam Flaaaaaaaaaaaaandeeeers
23 – Jake Aarts

How have you done this week, community? What’s on your mind? Who will you be trading James Sicily to after his nasty knee knock on Sunday, and why is it Luke Ryan?

Yoooo this new comment section, pretty cool and totally works… right?

Jorg Ancrath

It’s a bit funkafied, that’s for sure. How does one log in to post, or has that been binned?

Jorg Ancrath

I do have Dusty as captain. Wanted to take Oliver’s score but then Cavarra and Draper got a game. So here’s hoping he goes nuts tonight. He has a couple of150 scores against the Suns.

JohnDJ59

I’m not doing very well this round, in fact I can’t wait for it to finish tonight. Looking at around a 2,200 score with maybe 4/10 league wins. I have had some very good players in Nic Nat, B.Smith, Grundy, Oliver, Neale, Titch, Petracca, but also some under performers in Laird, Wingard, Ridley, Viney, Brayshaw, Haynes. My on field rookie selection made it even worse, with Ruscoe on field since I didn’t know if Schoenberg was playing at the time of the Melb-Coll game and the 34 from Wicks who I had the E on wasn’t good enough to take. I will be looking at getting in either Lloyd or Ryan for my back line and one of Fyfe, Danger or Angus Brayshaw for my mid line. I feel I have stuffed up my trades a bit the last two rounds, was looking at upgrades to Bont R11 and Fyfe R12, but went for downgrades instead, the points I have missed out on. That’s why I really have to nail my two upgrades for R13.

Having to make selections without knowing if players are going to be named or not has been a b*tch.
Now the frenzy has finished, I’m hoping Rd13 teams go back to a more normal announcement method. Like naming the Sunday squads on Friday night. We will see.

derek nolan

this week it is all normal. all teams announced thursday evening.

King Max

Iโ€™m liking too the A Brayshaw pick. Goodwin saying he will have Brayshaw spend more time at centre clearances and thru the guts has shown in the last few rounds. Is it worth a gamble getting him in for 370k? First 2 finals 18 just count. If he scores well, itโ€™s a bonus. If he score crap, it wonโ€™t count.
Then trade him out for final 2 games to a Uber premo? Hopefully in that time his price has increased too
Thoughts?

Tibor

Great call. At this price a bargain. I think he will get more mid time as he is under raced and probably Petracca and Oliver could do with a reduced workload, Viney had the concussion week off. Melbourne are doing that managed workload as well as anyone with Burgess running that so Angus should get the time

JohnDJ59

I’ve decided to go with Angus, he’s looked really good the last three weeks and at his price it’s worth the risk.Danger was also in there since he plays the crows, but he also has the round 15 bye.

JugHead

Luke Ryan in for Sicily……seems like a logical choice.
For me, it’s either that, or Zac Williams for bit of value and spend the extra cash on a mid upgrade.

derek

i’ve been liking the look of Ryan all year. Just got expensive when i wanted him. I’ll probably look at Lloyd first.

JohnDJ59

Not the best round for me, looking at a 2,200 score and maybe 4/10 league wins. I will be trading in either Lloyd or Ryan for my back line and one of Fyfe, Danger or Angus Brayshaw for my mid line. I really have to get these two upgrades right after deciding not to get in Bont R11 and Fyfe R12 and going down the downgrade path instead.

Thanks Derek. I put @votesustainable in – but now it looks like I’m in twice….

Bloody Sicily – ruined my chance to upgrade Serong to Macrae.
Ryan it is – cause I love chasing last week’s points.

Bells

Terrible scoring this round. Looking at estimated 2205.
Stinkers from Simpson, Crisp, Brayshaw, Serong, Laird, Sicily.

Saying goodbye to my highest ever ranking of 635 tonight. ๐Ÿ™
Probably just do the Sicily to Ryan swap and downgrade one of Aarts or Rankine.

tommyc99

Hey guys,
Frustrating Yeo gets injured during the reason i got him in in the first place, to deal with the byes but alas, we move on. I’m torn between staying cheap, or forking out the extra cash for a top 10 mid. All i know is they cant have the round 15 bye. In terms of cheap options, i don’t mind the look of M Crouch. 7 tons in 8 weeks. Only thing is his run home includes geelong and richmond. Also liked the look of shiel due to his ceiling, but those low scores are hard to ignore.
As for the premium options. Danger, Merrett, Adams and Steele are probably the ones who stand out to me the most. I don’t want to pay absolute premium due to the lack of cash this year, Hence why im ruling out the likes of titch and lyons atm.

My current midfield is Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Bont, Fyfe, Cripps and Duncan.

Please let me know which youd go for from either my list or anyone else i should be considering! As i said my only real filter is no round 15 bye players!

P.s Thoughts on Pendles? Could be the pies bias talking but didnt look like he missed a beat last week. Low of 86 is decent and i reckon hes primed for a big run home. I am planning on bringing in maynard as well so would 3 pies be too many?

Tibor

Consider Angus Bradshaw. Melbourne have no bye coming up due to the Essendon catch up game. He hasnโ€™t had the mid field time which has dropped his price well down. Started to get back in and play well in the middle once Viney missed with concussion. Still got the time and looked good against Collingwood. Goodwin has flagged that he will get more mid field time and I tend to believe that as Petracca and Oliver have carried a big work load and Angus is lightly raced.

Tibor

Obviously I meant Brayshaw. Also 3 pies is probably 3 too many. They are crippled by injury, Pendles is a gun but he is carrying a mountain on his back now so the only pies worth looking at in my opinion are cheaper options who get a more prominent role due to unavailable star players. A premo like Pendles has a do not touch sign all over him.

Jorg Ancrath

Angus Brayshaw is a risky but good bet, I reckon. Has played last two firmly in the guts where he belongs. Cheap as.

TRIGGA HAPPY

I read somewhere his midfield time last 2 weeks is up around 70%.it was 30-40% previously and he is also spending more TOG.

Definately role change in the guts.
Tracca is now 50/50 fwd mid.

Crippa09

I also think Luke Parker from the Swans is also at least worth a look.
In barely any teams and has had his bye

Crippa09

or even if you’re willing to risk a pick on brayshaw, then so.eone like an Andrew Gaff is also damn cheap had his bye and Yeo out injured for the next 4-5 weeks

Derek

Not having the Bont and Bailey Smith will cost me a few leagues this week, but I wonโ€™t be rushing them into my team. It was the Crows!

Dogs have are tough run home

Crows are giving up a lot of points to midfielders, Oliver, Pet tracks, Adams, Bont & Smith in recent weeks.

Crows play Geelong this week. One of their mids will go massive. Hopefully Danger. Plays before Neale, nice VC option.

Definitely a target for SC finals will be mids against Crows. Titch, Kelly/Cogs, Cripps and Dusty

tbone19

Sicily ACL conformed. Hope you recover quickly mate

dontblushbaby

12 months heโ€™ll be out for

TRIGGA HAPPY

Sicily gone for season
Infact half of next as well. 12 months.

Derek

He shouldnโ€™t have even been in the forward line

Shake n Bake

Only used 1 trade this week. Iโ€™m hoping for the finals l have the maximum trades to do every week. I know weโ€™ll get injuries and know players will be rested. I want to be able to sideways trade, replace players not playing. Iโ€™ll even sideways trade a player that has to still have his bye to come. And bring back if l have to.

Demons Deelight

Used my last for Sheed You were getting close and it was either pounce or wait for Angus.

Daz

Have we had confirmation on what’s happening Rd 15 as far as head to head league matches? There’s a lot of rumours about.

tommyc99

I thought it was decided that round 15 was a week off from head to head? Which is why the extra trades are silly and not needed.

JugHead

Its official from the SC HQ. No head-to-head matches for Rd15.

TRIGGA HAPPY

Be spewing if you were the bont.
199 ๐Ÿ™„
1 shy of the magical 200 club.

Derek

I was hoping he rested in the final quarter

Shake n Bake

Only picked him up last week 135 & 199 $510k

Derek

I was staying away from players who hadnโ€™t had their bye.

Shake n Bake

Only got him a minute before the bounce. Because Simpson was just announced to be rested. Had then Kelly and Cogs having there bye aswell.

Russty_

That’s why this season is like a test run…I’m not gonna beat myself up over results, there’s been more shit going down in my life and the world in the last year than in the last 5 years for me, this is just meant to be a bit of a distraction.

dontblushbaby

Thoughts on Luke McDonald as a replacement for Sicily ?

TRIGGA HAPPY

Picked him up in draft 4 rounds back as a free agent. He has been superb and is playing the sweeper role for North which is gold in SC.

TRIGGA HAPPY

Can I just say well done and a big thanks to the JR legends who posted a different article every single day during this festival of FOOTY.

And podcasts as well.

Remarkable effort.

AWESOME JOB!!! I TIP MY HAT TO YOU GENTS.

Yes agreed amazing achievement guys, much appreciated.

S C tragic

what is wrong with my posts?? surely they aren’t that bad. In fact I was praising the site.

JugHead

Yes. Fantastic effort guys and much appreciated.

Val Mutimer

Agreed, well done guys amazing achievement.

Shake n Bake

Well said, definitely hats off.

holty01

Agreed. Fantastic work fellas

Derek

Oh dear. Aarts on my field because Devon our.

Had choice between Aarts or Cavarra, pulled the wrong rein.

JugHead

Those that still have Rankine won’t be much happier……

Shake n Bake

In the end only about 10pts difference Derek

Derek

I was watching the scores closely, as Iโ€™ve got you in 3 leagues. Lukious made it a lot closer than it should have been. Just needed Aarts to snag one at the end.

Derek

I meant Rankine. You had Aarts as well.

Sicily was my big downer this week. You dodged that bullet

Shake n Bake

A lot of teams will have to deal with Sicily. 1 reason l got in Williams this week for Doedee was price. I did think about Sicily thou. Only trade this week was Williams for Doedee

Shake n Bake

Would have been nice. Lukious had a great game. It just seems Iโ€™m only coming up against top 8 teams in leagues. Was going to sell Devon but l was scoring well enough to hold off.

Derek

Some good scores

NDD 2478
LEK 2444

Tough to beat this week

TRIGGA HAPPY

Esp when you only have 20 on deck

Too good Lek.

Shake n Bake

Neil has done well the last 3 weeks. Iโ€™m also hearing Nic Nat and Kennedy might be rested this week against GWS

holty01

Another fantastic score from Neil again. Great work mate. Will move you right up in the ranks.

Demons Deelight

Thanks Holty 555 easy to remember

Russty_

Onya Neil, you still got it you old bastard ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thomas

Fyfe Steele or Danger this week?
I am leaving towards Fyfe because he has had his bye but Danger is cheaper

Derek

Does any of them play Crows this week?

JR SURVIVOR CHAMPION of CHAMPIONS GROUP

what a star studded bunch has emerged from the group rounds of the JR SURVIVOR.

of the 24 remaining teams, 10 are ranked in the top 1,000 overall. But in the cut-throat world of JR SURVIVOR, rank means nothing.

with 24 remaining teams and 5 rounds before the grand final (we won’t be playing round 15) means that each week we have to say goodbye to 4 teams.

same rules as before; the lowest 4 scoring teams in the round will be eliminated, unless you are holding the immunity necklace from the previous week. in the case of a tie, the team with the highest rank will survive.

only ONE immunity necklace will be available to the team with the highest score

Teams that have been eliminated this week (2193 was the cutt-off):
Liverpool
Tophawks
@VoteSustainable
Mitch is Back

The team with the highest score, and therefore proudly wears the immunity necklace for next round is:

Banchang Barflys (2523) – Currently ranked 7th Overall

nice work BB.

good luck fellas
