Trent

C on Gawn or Grundy?

Pman

Given Max's low score last week and the fact he was under an injury cloud this week I'd be inclined to put the C on Max. Who was your VC?

Trent

Danger

Pman

Grundy for me Trent as he always does well against Sydney with 167, 165 and 105 in his last 3 against the Swans.

Shake_n_bake

No Cameron

Ally B

Thanks a lot!

DEESNUTSRBIG

Soon as I have a player (low BE) ready to make some cash they get dropped.

D.Cameron, S.Hill, S.Sturt, M.Hibberd, T.Rivers, J.McInerney, J.Brander – And yes everyone of these spuds are still in my team + Simpson, Ling, Williamson, Draper to boot.

The Ranger

It’s a killer Dees but you just gotta move then on early this year, plenty of trades, even rookies can be seen as stepping stones.

Dan

Duncan and Stewart aren't exactly setting the world on fire. Hoping they have a good last quarter!

Russty_

Feeling that pain Dan, but they'll be good for the greater good.
Also have Close, his score will get chopped out fortunately

Cookie

Anyone thinking about bringing simpkin in next week? Under 400k is tempting

Pman

I traded hin out this week and probably regretting it a little bit but with a BE of 163 he should drop at least $30K but he'd need to string back to back good scores before I consider bringing him back in.

Pman

Anyone not taking Neale's 149 as VC last night? Surprsingly 3 of my oppenents in my cash leagues had him as VC but are opting for Gawn/Grundy as Capt.

Russty_

I reckon that's crazyness to pass on that score, I VC'd Macrae though

Pman

I'm taking it too after learning a lesson earlier in the season I didn't take Neale's 134 and rolled the dice on Grundy who scored 107 and cost me a few games.

Derek

Brodie is out.

Starcevich > Doedee > Brodie > Williams

Holty01

Big Maxy is struggling. Doesn’t look right. We will see how good/bad Melbourne and Goodwin actually are tonight I think.

Russty_

How's this Sholl guy on 40 points already

Shake_n_bake

Gawn 2 touches 8 hit outs 24 O’Brien 6 touches 12 hit outs 6pts

Holty01

Gawn is very lucky. He is being dominated. Something is wrong. ROB is out muscling him in the ruck which never happens.

Shake_n_bake

Just went from 24 to 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a handball

Russty_

That being said, he'll probs still score 140

Shake_n_bake

Definitely

TOPHAWK1

Thats it. I have seen enough. The game has overtaken Harley Bennell. He will be traded out next week. Time to cash in the unlucky man.

Pman

He has been the Invisible Man tonight and may struggle to make his BE of 17 which means he probably needs to go next week or soon as he's not scoring well at all and is likely to be rested again and will make bugger all $$.

Russty_

I remember when he was one of the Suns best, tonning up regularly, just kicked a nice goal, bit of hope there.

The Ranger

Love to see him given a centre bounce or two, he’s a classy player, just needs more of the pill.

Russty_

66% tog doesn't help his cause either, he's effectively missed a whole quarter.

Pman

becQuestion is how long to keep holding him with low scoring and likelihood of missing games? If he was getting picked every week like a Budarick/Starcevich then I could cop the lowish scores. I guess he could remain a M10 and his 3rd Qtr was much better. Needs a stint in the middle but unlikely to get it.

Russty_

Reckon I'll just leave him rotting on the bench and loopholing if possible.

Sal

at least it aint hamill with 4 :/

guess ill be trading him to schoenberg unless someone else impresses

Derek

I’m struggling so much this week, I’ll have to take Bennell’s score in my best 18

NDD

Rivers may get a game now Fresh legs to give Hibberd a rest

Russty_

Looks like Oliver's going huge tonight!…wonder what he ends up on.

The Ranger

Hats off to Derek for sticking the VC on him

Russty_

Yeah for sure Ranger, that'll help him a lot with him missing several this week.

Derek

He done good

choppers

Nice job there, Derek.Good choice.

Dan

There’s still time for him to get the double ton. With post-game scaling he could go close.

Russty_

Yes mate, definitely over 200 now.

NDD

How would he be if he could kick Browny's record would be in danger

Russty_

Gawny did ok considering he was obviously underdone and Jackson was doing a fair bit of the ruckwork.

Shake_n_bake

Laird did well with 120 and had the 2nd less time on ground for adel. Only more than Hamill.

derek

almost pure midfield. lets hope BCrouch stays away for a bit longer

Shake_n_bake

Just over 70 mins game time an extra 10 mins would be nice

Derek

Melb play Sunday. Does Gawn get a rest?

Russty_

Could do but it won't be his call, he tends to play through niggles, he played a bit in the fwd line tonight.

NDD

Jim Stynes did the same Russty I seen him play concussed with a broken arm and two busted legs ,in 3 places All that and with a hammy ,,Stiill won the brownlow

Russty_

Stynesy was a warrior Neil, taken way too soon…I remember him playing he was tough as nails.

NDD

they wont go with the kid against Goldy

TRIGGA_HAPPY

Goldy then Grundy the week after.

Gawn will relish the challenge and opportunity to show he is the best

Derek

Good point.

He is the C of the team

TOPHAWK1

Clayton Oliver……Excuse me??? Wow. What a performance.

TRIGGA_HAPPY

Must have taken exception to being told wasnt hard or damaging enough.

That was damage!

NDD

Derek would be rapped as captain cream rises for both derek and Clarry Wonder if LLOYDY STILL THINKS Melbourne should trade him now

Derek

He started slow but second half of 2nd quarter went bang.

The 72pt last quarter was icing on the cake.

My son who went VC Neale was very quiet tonight

NDD

Better than last year when you let grundys 130 slide Your captain's choice has improved heaps or is it luck I would have stuck it on Tracca but as i told Gator earlier one would double ton ,just had the wrong Dee

derek

was that round 8 last year, when i didn't take Grundy's 141, but backed Oliver and he scored 175?

The Ranger

Lloyd is an idiot. He makes Cornes look intelligent.

TRIGGA_HAPPY

I know they played adelaide but don't think big mac be back any time soon.

Weita and Jackson worked well together.

NDD

On his way to the Saints with his bro for free

Russty_

That Sholl dude had 39 at quarter time and ended up with 52 after playing 84% gametime, that's a big period going missing.

NDD

was thinking about him too but tobe or not tobe looks better

Mikee

Thanks!

NDD

I put Rivers onfield to get Simpkins score but they gave me closes 31 On the team selections it shows close as a reserve and rivers at M8 . Hope they fix it its 70 pts. Maybe something to do with 18 onfield

NDD

Wow that was quick .Took a screenshot and emailed and voila all fixed needed those simpkin points not Close

Adamup

I’ve VC’d Oliver, to get his Captains double score can I just put the C on a onfield bye player eg. Cripps?
Cheers in advance.

Jorg Ancrath

Yep that will do the trick. Well done on the VC. I went Petracca instead and was cursing my luck.

derek

Petraca started quite slow but had a massive second half as the ball was stuck in the melbourne forward line

TOPHAWK1

Well, my Gawn VC flopped so it is over to Grundy. Grundy loves playing the Swans. He scored 165SC against Sinclair last year, and 167 SC in their clash in 2018. Lets hope he can get the hat trick! Will be watching from behind the couch tonight.

Jorg Ancrath

I have the VC on Petracca with a 132. You reckon it's worth a crack at Grunds or am I being greedy? Was also considering Whitfield. My cut off is around the 135 mark, generally.

TOPHAWK1

Geez, that 132SC is solid mate. Many coaches have Neale and have cashed in their 298 SC as their VC. Your 264SC for Petracca is only 34 SC less. Personally, I would take the 264 on offer. If Grundy produces a 120 or less, you will be 60+ points behind Neale owners. Just my take Jorg. Cheers. TH

Russty_

Hey bud, it's actually only 17 points difference
298 + 132 = 430
264 + 149 = 413

derek

get Patch and LEK to check your maths

derek

Grundy was my C choice this week if oliver didn't do well.

Swans don't have any decent ruck, plus their midfielders are quite small. Grundy will be swatting them away like flies

DEESNUTSRBIG

I am taking Neale but Grundy was the backup option (especially with no Cameron) and Gawn's injury concern.

Sal

Luckily i put the VC on oliver this week after considering gawn and petracca. Very lucky with that. However, i still dont have macrae and neale who are putting up serious numbers. I am looking to bring in one of the two, most likely neale, but with them going to cost around 700k next round is it reasonable? in doing so i would be culling pickett and aarts who still have cash to make and another rookie for around 250k. However, i am considering somone like bont, gaff, tim kelly, or tom mitchell etc who will all be roughly 150k cheaper. Basically, do i spend it all on neale or do I go for cheaper options?

Jorg Ancrath

That's the big question Sal. I'm in a similar boat. Think I'll go the cheaper route to get full premo. Then if I can grab Neale, i will. But he just isn't getting any cheaper and cash generation could get hard as rooks dip in and out in the condensed fixtures. That $150k saving could get you two guys averaging 110 or one guy averaging 140 and one averaging 50.

Sal

the thing is i have a gut feeling there will be plenty more bye rounds and thus best 18, so i can afford to go after the big guns at the expense of having some dud rookies on field. Also, i dont think for the price of neale and a rookie i could afford two players averaging 100 let alone 110 each.

derek

it will be interesting to see what the AFL do.

rounds 13 to 16 (4 rounds) 10 teams to have a bye.

could be 2 per round with one round of 4.

could be luck of the draw how many players are out each round.

Jorg Ancrath

This game is about buying value. It's like the sharemarket. Neale is a hold for now, as he's at his highest price. No doubt he's a blue chip investment, but I'm looking for a bluechip at a discounted price. For example, Duncan was a strong buy coming into this round, as he's probably 15% underpriced. Titch I think is similarly great value. Could go 130 average from here I think.

JohnDJ59

Neale is not at his highest price, that was round 4 when he was 763,800, he has been going down for the last 5 weeks, hit a low of 678,800 this week, only 20,300 above his starting price, he was a buy at the start of this round.

derek

would you be buying GOLD today at US$2052 per oz?

derek

when in doubt i do a quick calculation to work out the 'value' of a player based on their price.

Price + $250,000 dived by 7500

Titch at say $580k = 111 score is his 'fair value'
Neale at $700k = 127 score is fair value.

What do you think Titch & Neale will average from here. Compare what you think to their fair value.

Sal

gheez according to that neale seems a bargain at 700k… somehow.

derek

maybe. If Titch can average 125, means that Neale needs to average 141 to be the same value.

Sal

I dont think either are bad, and im very tempted by titch especialliy coming off the bye, but having not had neale all year and waiting even more to have him seems like torture.

derek

i was the same with gawn. It was torture not having him. paid near $800k for him two rounds ago, for him to score 87, 107 and now look injured.

Peter

Hey Derek/Community do you think Oliver is overpriced at the moment? Where would he rate in the must have midfielders?

s c tragic

One would suspect Oliver covered his BE. WOW.

Yeahnah

Fiorini in draft trade or hold..

derek

doesn't look like he is getting much of a game. Lemmens and Powell getting a game ahead of him

no-one would trade him, looks like you might need to look on the free trade list

Jorg Ancrath

He's reserve this week. Can't be far off a game. Gun player, just not getting a run. Suns will get flogged tonight (I fear – I am a GC boy), so may well play next round.

derek

he got a game a few weeks ago, and they played him forward pocket. he needs to get in the guts to score well.

it depends how deep your draft is if you get rid of him.

a few of the bigger drafts, i'll be looking at getting players like buddy, kreuzer, ablett, ziebell in next week. players who are on the waivers but will play before the finals

Peter

Hi Guys I have finally run out of patience with Dan Houston..i have most of the main def exc Sicily..who would you bring in out of laird or Luke Ryan? Ryan has averaged $120k over the last 5 weeks but looks like Laird might have a new midfield role…tempting

JohnDJ59

Ryan.

Choppers

I'd go Ryan over Laird mainly because Laird will miss one game when Adel. have the bye…

derek

Houston is a product of Ports success.

he had a few rounds when he played in the guts with Rocky out.

Otherwise he plays in defense. When port are playing well, he hardly gets to see the ball

Port play Richmond, geelong and hawks next 3. maybe he will see more of the ball, or maybe wines, boak or rocky get a rest?

laird's midfield time will end when brad crouch come back

derek

no bye in Round 13
