Any love for Will Hamill? One concussion affected score and looks like the only player in Adelaides defence with a bit of dare at the moment.
Thoughts as a defence downgrade option?
Don't hate it
Is it right to say that we need to do whatever we can to get rid of the rookies that will stink on field right now? Trading in a Ridley + 140k minus rivers on field is feeling a lot better than a Tmitch and having better rookies like McInerney, Pickett and Bennell (thinking they will play) on the pine, right?
Ahh just listened to the podcast and it confirmed my thoughts
Absolutely Jess, gotta get Ridley in, Titch can wait IMO, I actually traded him out few weeks ago, for Simpkin when he was cheaper. Rivers you don't want turding up your field again, at least I don't
Thanks rusty. No problems for me with throwing Bennell (or even pickett) on the field and expecting him to score significantly enough better than rivers. All about making the $ for better trades next week, and the week after etc
What is smarter of these two options:
OUT: Rowell and Starcevich and IN: Ridley and Aarts and $235K in the bank. (Get Gawn next week)
OR
OUT: Rowell and Pittonet and IN: Gawn and Aarts and $81K in the bank.
I am leaning towards the first option. Thoughts? Cheers. TH
1 for me Pittonet BE 77 so maybe hold on.
Gawn v Witts so maybe even in the hitouts
Rowell and Starcevich as Pitt can still make money and should do well against Tim English, Max can wait until his price drops a bit and Goldy who is a cheaper is a good POD option rather than Gawn to consider.
1 hawker
Looks like I am the odd one out. 2 for mine Gawn like Grundy and Neale are must haves though this season that's difficult. I have both Ridley and Gawn but Gawn is the top pick Starcevic is an OK player that could wait to cull. Good luck TH
1 for me too
Stephen’s and Warner to debut for the swans but still no Gould.
Doesn’t sound good for McInerney.
oh god, I didn't think of that!
Rankine to debut
Hopefully he does well first game so we can start off loading some spud rookies next week.
Yewwww!
Rowell, Rozee out
Whitfield yeo in
Yep the 2 R's have to go!
After this week I think it will be too late to cull Rozee .Problem is Wines. he is too good a player not to turn it around big time
Don't think I can wait another week for Rozee Neil, he's killing my scores every week and will be worth bugger all next week, I don't need Aarts but if I did, I'd do Rozee to Aarts and he'd probs outscore him by 20
we will run out of trades if we cull too many, tough call though Russty I am. keeping him and praying
It is a tough call, I've already done sideways trades and still have plenty of guys to replace, my year's shot I reckon.
Hey community should I go either:
1. Rowell to Steele/ Yeo and Starcevich to Ridley leaving 28k/108k in the bank.
or
2. Rowell to Aarts via buderick dpp and Starcevich to Ridley leaving 458k in the bank?
I'm planning on getting in Bailey Smith once his price has dropped and also trying to get Neale but wanna wait for him to drop a bit aswell. Thanks for the help guys.
option 1 looks better. but i just hate all that cash doing nothing.
Yeo is a cheap option, have Crows this week and then head back to Perth, we might see the best of the eagles from now on
Bailey Smith will be a good option when he drops and Steele is nearly a must have .Will be thereabouts at the end and plenty of mid time. NDD
1. 100%
Will Kelly to debut. I was on the money early in the week.
So Thomas and Cameron get left out for him Shake?
What are his chances of hanging around for awhile
Cox to get a rest Degoey obviously out. With his chances of staying in. I’m sure they will give him a chance.
Any word on whether Noble gets a crack this weekend Shake? Really stuffs my trade plans if he can't, i can't cop another donut in defence
No word on Noble. Phillips will most likely miss aswell.
Cheers for the intel mate, appreciate
I'd get rid of Noble if he isn't named AB, may as well get someone who is in favour.
Yeah i might have to mate, just realised i can still fit my trades in if i get rid of him. Initially i was planning to go Starcevic down to Aarts via DPP and another upgrade this week, then next week go Noble and Budarick up to premos. I can afford to hold Starc for another week though, will only go down 10k with a 50.
The initial option is more appealing obviously, because Noble will make more money and i'll have gotten rid of Starc at full price. Not the end of the world otherwise however
What will you do this week now?
If Noble is selected, Starc down to Aarts and Rowell up to Treloar. Next week is Budarick to Yeo and Noble to Haynes. That'll leave me with 4 rookies on field and 2 midpricers (Doedee & D.Smith, not sure if keepers yet), with 17 trades left for the season.
Barring any catastrophes i feel like im in a pretty good position for the first time in ages, which is nice. Currently sitting at rank 703 and 389 points off the pace. Going to try and give it a red hot crack this year, with a focus on picking POD players to give me a good run home.
You are in a good spot mate, good luck for the year, you're really close to the top still. One good week could put you right up there.
Thanks mate, fingers crossed
We're not worthy!
30 possessions and 6 tackles for Bennell in the scratchy, does he play this week Neil?
Hell play as will Pickett
Brown and McInerney might miss?
Suddenly my bench looks pretty stacked haha, hopefully they can still make some money and fatten up.
Yeah he might get 10-15 minutes on ground. massive risk to have more than 1 demon on field Russty
Hoping he gets a decent crack Mick, not sure how long the scratch match was on for but sounds like he got plenty of it…I'd be interested to hear if Neil was there and how he went.
Don't forget that he playing against guys who aren't good enough to make the Melbourne best 22 Russty. To say that a good performance against them is indicative of a good performance in the real stuff is sort of like saying that my 20 year old is a safe bet for the IBF heavyweight championship because he bashed 6 kindergarten kids last weekend 🙂
the match was against richmond. Mick and. Bennell was a standout with 35 disposals mainly kicks Totally different to an intra club scratch match plenty of tiger stars there NDD
My mistake, I consider 'scratch-match' an intra club game and practice match a game against an opposition team.
I acknowledge that Bennell is a talent but I think that it's a bit early to be looking at him as an onfield option in Supercoach. Hill is also a talent but anybody who puts him onfield gets a world of pain.
Although, when you have the likes of Budarick and Brown spitting out sub 30's a bloke who scores 50-60 can be a bonus and he's probably a much better option than them or rivers, xerri, philp etc. Personally I'd go for Aarts as a downgrade because he's less likely to do a calf and be out for 3-years.
I was only quoting what AFL.com.au called a 'scratch match' Mick, it was actually the reserves so technically, they are not good enough to make Melbourne's best 22.
I might just risk his glass calves in the hope he delivers something better than 50, otherwise he'll be gone next week.
Well if it was 6 against 1 maybe he deserves the belt Mick, some of those pre-schoolers can be pretty mean.
I am trying to limit my exposure to onfield rookies. I Have 4 now and Bennell appears one of the better ones His disposal like Rivers is elite the difference being Bennell plays mid a lot more.Mcinerney is more an outside mid Bennell played a lot on Pickett and beat him hands down That leaves Budarick who will probably get dropped Sorry Russty i meant to respond to mick.
and bog with 4 goals in the last one. two bog's but unlike players like Aaron Davey and Pickett his defensive forward work is poor . Delivery is probably one of our best but he needs to improve his tank and tackling. Looking at our crap team ,he has to play
I have a conundrum.. Refused to go Ridley last week cause I'm worried about McKenna's impact on him. He scores very well again but still without McKenna.
What are the communities thoughts, should I get him this week?
No one really knows what going on in the coaches box mate but you can only assume if Rids keeps doing his job and doing the 1%’s then he’ll hold his spot, early in toast weeks game his first possession was a handball out of traffic to a loose man when we were under the pump, I watched him follow up a few minutes later with a spoil in the middle of 3 pies, the kids a talent and our future, I’m guessing injury is his only reason for losing his spot from here on in.
I'd grab him for sure Connor, he's still making stacks of cash and will go up by at least 40k this week.
Just gotta hope he doesn't do a Rozee now…lol
I did the same, regretted it. Grabbing him this week if I can!

Here is my team from 2013, some of the names in here my god!
DEF: B.Goddard , P.Hanley , G.Birchall , B.Gibbs , N.Vlastuin , B.Goodes , (B.Staker , J.Thurlow)
MID: G.Ablett , J.Watson , S.Mitchell , JP.Kennedy , T.Cotchin , M.Priddis , N.Fyfe , T.Mitchell , (M.Paparone , N.Hrovat)
RUC: D.Cox , M.Leuenberger (T.Nicholls , J.Witts)
FWD: N.Naitanui , D.Martin , J.Westhoff , T.Rockliff , L.Franklin , JJ.Kennedy (B.Macaffer , B.Kennedy)
The days where Dusty and JJ Kennedy were rookies, and Sam Mitchell was a premium. Feels like the game was much simpler back then for some reason, must just be nostalgia.
no room for Jack watts AB?
Couldn't fit him in apparently
Nice bit of nostalgia AB, I tried looking for my old posted teams but I never posted them 4 years ago or so, that's when i first got an account, was hanging around a few years before that, I noticed I was lot more opinionated back then lol, I think I might've even been a douchebag haha
Amazing! I think I'd need to find what my old account was called before I made this one though 🙁
And yet Westhoff got his role . still you got another dee champion in Kennedy lol. great stuff AB
A week at the Lance Whitnall Fat Farm for Stevens…
Yep he's booked in for a hair degreasing and day-spa, hopefully he doesn't get stabbed somewhere in between.
So how are we gonna bring in aarts when Taylor and king had their best score for the year last week and have alot more $ to make?
Don't think I'll be trading either of them?
Trading Rowell to a Def via dpp. Swinging Smith into mids Budarick will then go for Aarts
S&B,
How do you do this pls. I was thinking of a similar strategy with a fwd DPP. Can this be done on phone app?
Maybe not on a phone app Dave, if not, get on the P.C at the local Library and do it. When you put the guy up for trade, look for the 'S' for sub on other lines…and swap them over.
That allows you to trade one line out for another, but there has to be a replacement to fill the void. The replacement has to be elligible to switch lines. (dpp)
Try it and you'll see what I mean.
You can do it on your phone 😀
Tough to get him Trigg, Neither has DPP Maybe move a Whitfield or Smith to mids and leave Aarts on the bench
I’m going likely a mid rookie who doesn’t get selected out, swing D. Smith into the mids and that opens up a spot in the fwds to select Aarts. Means you play an extra fwd rookie than midfield one but going off their scores from last weekend, I feel better about doing that.
I'm just keeping Taylor and Sturt Trigs, don't need Aarts, my Sturt is your King, so the answer is, don't get him if you don't need him…or cash.
Can someone pls tell me how to trade Rowell out, move a DPP into the mids and then trade Aarts into the fwd line. It doesn’t seem to work the same way it did last season.
Cheers
On phone, once you've selected the guy you want to trade. Go back to the 'Trade Out' tab (shown as a green -) and you'll see the grey S lit up for anyone who can be swung via DPP
Thanks Lekdog . Got it.
Hey Commy Jocks which option do you like better?
Option 1 – Rowell for Dangerfield (556k) BE 80
And Wait for Sicily to drop (516k, 142 BE)
Option 2 – Rowell for Ridley (460k) BE 11
100k in the pipe for next week.
Hey Dees, I like option 2, Ridley and no Sicily, there's a new crop of top 6 defenders this year apart from the Doch…(what a legend)
I like 2, gives more flexibility for next week
Thanks guys consider it locked in.
OPTION2 no doubt 100k and no flog seals the deal
Rowell to Danger, Simpkin, Bont, JPK, Steele, or Yeo? That's all I can afford after doing Starcevich to Ridley.
Hey Ando, I reckon Steele's gonna become elite after being released from the restrictive role of a tagger as he was last year, the results of that are already speaking for themselves. They're all good choices really, although I kinda feel like I got left behind a bit this year sticking with the 'old guard' players from years past, Laird, Dusty, Whitfield, Macrae, Heeney even Bont, Cripps, even though half of them are still young…they've under-performed, this would've been the year to take crazy risks and it might've paid off.
Thanks Russty. The SC website says that Steele tagged Cripps last game, although he did get plenty of the pill himself. Yeah, it's been a crazy year hasn't it.
He did tag him but only for a small portion of the game, and I think only early on…after that he was just running rampant, and he is a rampant playing type.
I was watching the game and even when he was tagging early…he was racking up possessions, and after he stopped tagging, he was all over the ground, fwd back…you name it.
Ok, good to hear. Think I'll go with Steele then.
I love the value of Rowell to Yeo. It’s riskier as his form has been a yo yo since the restart. Steele looking great so far with a 118 average but is 80k more expensive. If you have the coin I reckon I’d go Steele, but that extra cash could turn someone like a B Long for me into B Smith once he bottoms out. Cheers
Thanks TB. Yeo is quite cheap but I have a feeling he stepped up once Shuey got injured, and he's only supposed to be out for 1-2 weeks.
Danger-Steele-JPK/Yeo-Bont/Simpkin is my order or preference
Cheers Lek
Hi Community,
What is everyone's thoughts Dylan Shiel? his 2 scores under 100 worry me a little although cld be a POD. His current stats are very similar to the below players
Cant split between Steele, McCluggage, Simpkin or Shiel???
I yelled about him in the pod, I don't trust him because of those two low scores.
But also it's 2020, do whatever you want! He could be worth the ride!
Yeo and Whitfield this week. Blue chip stock at a 30% discount.
Okay guys so do I get Shiel, Steele, Yeo, Simpkin or somebody else in for Rowell? I have 582.6k
Steele for me…Yeo if you want to save some money
In a bit of a conundrum this week lads with Brown and Budarick looking likely to lose money, Rivers and McInerney (Syd) a possibility of being dropped and obviously Rowell out.
Option 1 – One of Rivers/McInerney dropped (covered by Bennell in the midfield)
OUT – Brown and Budarick
IN – Haynes and Aarts
BANK – $622k
Option 2 – Both Rivers/McInerney dropped (both on mid bench, trade next week, maybe cop a donut if Brander doesn't get up)
OUT – Brown and Rowell
IN – J.Steele and Aarts
BANK – $842k
Option 3 – Rivers and McInerney both play (absolute best case)
OUT – Brown and Budarick
IN – J.Steele and Aarts
BANK – $605k
Whats everyones thoughts on the trades given the scenarios proposed?
that is a lot of cash in the warchest.
instead of Aarts can you get another premium
Hey Derek, yeah if I trade Brown and Budarick I can bring in Steele and Parfitt (F5) or Ridley (D3 via S.Hill). This would leave me with $254k and $269k respectively.
While I like this move I feel like it leaves me with very minimal cash generation, hence the Aarts selection and why I'm pretty set on him. Thats my reasoning for painting the fence this week leaving me enough cash next week to bring in two premos on any line via DPP.
Do you think its reasonable to do as Neil suggested and snag Steele and Hayne for those two, leaving $187k in the bank and Rowell still available to trade out and paint the fence next week bringing in Aarts after hes had his first price rise?
Steele and Haynes and zero bank much better
hey Neil, did you see my trade offer in draft?
sorry mate can't stand the bloke. and love the other Steele is a beauty
Cheers Neil, good idea, more points are never a bad call. Only problem is by not bringing in Aarts I don't have many rookies for cash gen (poor starting choices) but I guess I could double up to Steele and Haynes this week and paint the fence to get another premo and Aarts next week after his first price rise? What are your thoughts on that?
exactly what i would do my friend Haynes will start to get to high shortly
I’ll suss it a bit more, cheers Neil appreciate it!
Upgrading Budarick in the forward line and thinking of getting either Greenwood or Petracca. I feel like Petracca is the safer option but i like Greenwood's contested game style and tackles which translates well to good supercoach scores. Any thoughts on the better option?
Like Greenwood especially with Rowell out
Parfitt could be a nice smokey Liam, very low ownership
I'd preference Greenwood over Pretracca who I think is Fools Gold (based on previous years). With the exception of Big Max the rest of the Melbourne list are almost SC irrelevant. I got sucked in by Viney and can't get rid of him quick enough, likewise Rooke Rivers. Melbourne suck…
Oliver 's not too bad one would think
Greenwood might get a bump from Rowell being out, or get more attention?
Atu to debut for pies hawks resting Burgoyne
And Rankine is a confirmed starter.
Hey guys, popular question, but best choice for Rowell? Tossing up whether to find value in a season in which money spent is huge, or just bite the bullet and get the best players. These are my top few.
Value: Danger, Yeo
POD: Adams, Parker
Rolled gold: Fyfe, Titch
What would you guys pick?
Hey Tommy, not sure if Danger is great value anymore, he's currently ranked 38th so not setting the world on fire, Yeo is cheap but is literally a yoyo, For me it'd be Fyfe all the way, Titch a close second if he's going 100%
Hey russty! Fyfe the obvious pick in terms of scoring. I guess theres a lot of talk about finding value in a season where rookies havent been great, and yeo has averaged 107 past 2 seasons. The fact hes at optus is a huge plus, and if we were assured he will get back to a 100-105 average id take him in a heartbeat. But we dont, and we know fyfe will average around that 120 mark. BE is a slight issue, and we can get him cheaper if he doesnt go nuts, but you get what you paid for with him and after bringing bont in last week for a 55, i know fyfe wont do that unless he gets injured
You could save some big bucks with Yeo Tommy, it's a hard call isn't it?…if he does get all consistent again and averages over 105 ish, you're laughing, I reckon Steele's a good option too, he's posted some good scores this year since being freed up.
From the list you've provided I'd say Titch, that said I have Danger and Parker and both are good selections. Steele from St Kilda should be considered also…
Wowell, Rowell and Powell out.
I just thought I heard a dog Growell then too.
that was my BOWELL
LOL!
Pickett, Bennell: IN
Rivers, Brown, Xerri: OUT
McInnerney, Butler: EXTENDED IC
Rivers out is very frustrating. Will have to play another week with a donut down back.
Good luck everyone this round
Same to you Holt…I bet you bounce back big time this week.
Starcevich. Lift!
He sucks!…pretended he was good and then delivered two piles of shit in 2 weeks, he's gone next week.
Nearly used emergency loophole with him but decided to do it with bennell and pickett instead, then 5 minutes after the lions match started i realised that rivers was my 0 for the loophole and that i could no longer do the emergency loophole. my opponent in my league has him on field as well but it could be a costly error if pickett scores alright, costly for rank that is.
I was hoping he'd at least be able to get a 60. he was on 17 at quarter time… he'll drop 20k now as well.
