Supercoach Trade Winds – Round 5
Hello again everybody and welcome to Round 5 of the trade winds. Round 4 was a bit of a mess around the joint, we’ve had injuries, some taggers hitting, basically the season continued its trend of being an utter pain in the butt. Those Jeremy Howe/Nat Fyfe owners will likely be the busiest this week, so let’s go take a look and see which way the trade winds are blowing.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in Twins Breakeven
Lachie Whitfield 186
Tom Stewart 185
Dane Rampe 184
Connor Rozee 184
Matthew Kreuzer 175
Stefan Martin 169
Zak Jones 166
Stephen Coniglio 165
Brodie Grundy 158
Sebastian Ross 158
Lachie Whitfield has a return score of 85 last week, which isn’t the greatest, but he still has a bit more cash to lose thanks to his score of 8 in Round 3. Conor Rozee got off to a fast start, but has scored just 83 points over his last two games with a tough opponent in Brisbane on the docket for this week. Brodie Grundy had a Captains knock last week with 135 SCPoints, hardly a concern to see him on this list as we’ll be keeping him all year long.
Danny DeVito in Twins Breakeven
Mitchell Georgiades -27
Tom Williamson -26
Sam Sturt -23
Hayden Young – 21
Tom Green -21
Charlie Dixon -19
Darcy Cameron -16
Aidan Corr – 15
Kyron Hayden -15
Trent Rivers -15
Matthew Rowell has finally grown enough to drop off the list, but he has made some crazy cash so it’s to be expected. Sam Sturt is gonna be a season long tease it feels like which is going to frustrate a lot of people it seems. Tom Green returned to the GWS side and belted out a score of 94 which is fantastic. He’s still under 200K too, so in the gettable price range still. Charlie Dixon has been on fire, his BE pushing down to negative territory thanks to his score of 165 last week. Key forwards are frustrating in Supercoach, though you’d be super pleased if you picked him up in a draft league. Kyron Hayden has now played 3 games, but only has an average of 45 SCPoints. Nothing huge to write home about there while Trent Rivers scored just 33 last week, but still remains at a very affordable price, with some cash to be made, though much like Hayden, his average is a disappointing 47.5 SCPoints.
Trade Bolters
Stephen Hill +3.8%
Jordan Ridley +3.6%
Jy Simpkin +3.3%
Brayden Maynard +2.9%
Sam Docherty +2.2%
Tom Mitchell +1.8%
Marc Pittonet +1.8%
Lachie Neale +1.7%
Chad Wingard +1.5%
Marcus Bontempelli +1.3%
Stephen Hill is bolting up the ownership charts thanks to playing his first game of the year and producing a score of 73 SCPoints. He’s sitting at $190.6K, so isn’t a huge leap if you were thinking about getting rid of someone like Sam Sturt off your bench. Jordan Ridley, Jy Simpkin and Brayden Maynard are all lining up as the favourite Jeremy Howe/Tom Stewart/Nat Fyfe trade options this week, it’s hard to argue about bringing any of those guys in currently. Sam Docherty also makes the list as a popular Howe replacement, though you’d question why anyone didn’t start with him in the first place. Tom Mitchell, Lachie Neale, Chad Wingard Marcus Pontempelli all make the list as well in place of Nat Fyfe. Neale is the obvious standout while Chad Wingard is still available for $482.6K and is averaging 112.3 SCPoitns for the year. A cheap, but quality option available if you want to generate a bit of cash, though don’t let Patch catch you bringing him in.
Trade Sliders
Jeremy Howe -12.9%
Nat Fyfe -8%
Tom Stewart -2.4%
Sam Naismith -2.1%
Marlion Pickett -2.1%
Sam Jacobs -1.8%
Stephen Coniglio -1.2%
Max King -0.7%
Curtis Taylor -0.7%
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher -0.7%
These should all be for obvious reasons. Jeremy Howe, Nat Fyfe, Tom Stewart and Sam Naismith all unfortunately suffered varying degrees of injuries that will put them out of action. Both Marlion Pickett and Sam Jacobs lost their spots in their sides best 22 recently, though both will likely regain their spots sooner than later. Curtis Taylor is on the list for some reason, he hasn’t been a world beater, but an average of 64.5 SCPoints isn’t the worst either.

Thanks fellas
My brain can't work out how you track all this Derek, well done!
Sad to see a few old favourites depart including Russty In a weird year anything can happen
You were unlucky mate. Double immunity in your division
Knew I was doomed after last week's poxy score mate, all good, good luck to all those remaining.
Honest thoughts on Dangerfield from this point?
Decent trade in option I think.
Would be nuts to say he doesn't average 105 from here
He's very tempting at that price, isn't he. I'm weighing him up with Luke Parker.
I was bringing him until I saw the teams, good price and he looked better last week. Still have Dunkley sitting on the bench but keep on having to deal with other issues.
Best option to avoid a donut in midfield:
1. Philp > Serong (yeah i traded him in last week :/)
2. Fyfe > Duncan / Bontempelli
Depends what your chasing, rank or league. Fyfe to Bont if chasing points while Serong will make you cash in the long run.
Fyfe to Duncan for me as he is a consistent scorer and a great POD whereas Bont has a much higher ceiling as far as scores are concerned but isn't super consistent…last week was his first score over 100 for the year, too risky for me and have been burnt in the past with him.
Philp a late in. No need to trade out.
Hey community, do I go fyfe – Simpkin and bank $220k or go Curtis Taylor to Butler/rivers and bank 100k?
still simpkin now that cunnnington is back?
Ziebell isn't playing this week so he'll still have plenty of time in the guts so Cunnington's return shouldn't impact too much.
Simpkin or B. Smith?
Simpkin, Cunnington obviously not fit so Simpkin will get plenty of midfield time.
Maynard or Ridley? Thinking Ridley and saving the 100k for an upgrade next week…
Does Ridley keep it up? I'd love to get him at that price if he can even average 90 from here. But it's such a small sample of output. Does McKenna back impact him?
How does Maynard play with Howe gone?
My concern both ends 😐
Especially now opposition coaches know who he is. I’m sure some didn’t even know his name at the start of the year
Hi guys.
Quick and easy.
S Hill or Serong?
Cheers.
I think Hill surely has better JS and more reliable scoring potential? If he plays 4-5 games he makes more money than serong. injury history always the risk though.
I’m not seeing Serong getting the Fyfe bump. That will go to Mundy and Brayshaw
If Hill can put a few quarters together like his first quarter last week he will be a lock.
I’m on Hill and hope he gets through
Good luck all for this round
Vc for tonight Docherty or Cripps
Saints midfield have been hard to score against this year
Is it time to get rid of Viney? BE 125 now after two average scores. He's only made ~90k from that 186 which is disappointing.
If it is, do I upgrade to say a Bont, or downgrade to a Tom Green or Stephen Hill?
I’d keep Viney, he will be a little up & down, but I think his worth keeping.
I’m hanging on to him
I'm hanging onto Viney until Whitfield's price bottoms out then a straight swap.
Anyone know what sort of injury Brander has?
Should we be moving off Noble? Being omitted is a concern. Easy switch to S HIll isnt it?
I reckon so. Best back line cheap option I think.
Speaking of the back line – Branders and Noble out, Rivers on the extended bench and no certainty to play, not to mention Howe and Stewart. Not a good week!
Yeah rivers on shaky ground l think
Gotta love it. Fancy pants trades all worked out..and whoosh out the window they go!;)
Same Billi, this game sucks sometimes, I wanted Butler this week and he's on 66 at half time, had to take Hill in defence…didn't really want to.
Got to give Howe and Noble the flick
Leaves me with $892k for 2 defenders. Who am I best going for?
1. Maynard/ Saad and a rookie (Hill, Williamson)
2. Ridley and a rookie
3. Ridley and Casboult/ Jake Kolodjashnij
Maynard/Saad
Looking like a donut coming this week.. Had it all worked out and to now have it flushed down the dunny .. F%^k you SC
I was out all day and came back to all that carnage with ten mins to fix it lol, still relying on Rivers getting named but spewing mate cause I was going Taylor to Butler this week and had to reverse.
I thought the same Gator, luckily had enough time to reverse my trades with Brander and Rivers in the extended bench.
Might have to wait until next week to get Gawn in. Another stressful week in my Ruck department.😔
Backline is throwing me for a spin. will have a big fat donut if Rivers doesn't get up. Moving out Howe for Ridley, also moving out Jetta (Melb) – don't ask how he ended up in my team. After a replacement and have narrowed to these two;
T/U Williamson
T/D Hill
Appriciate that some people's DEFs will be cooked this week. Feel sorry for you.
Will be holding off my trades until I see if rivers is named tommorrow. If he is out I'll jump on hill.
Again, this game can be cruel and i hope all those affected can still field a decent team
You copped the rough end of the pineapple a couple of weeks ago, so it's only fair some of us copped it coming back the other way.
Ridley or Simpkin this week?
26K
Laird, Sicily, Docherty, Rivers, Brander, Starcevic (Noble, BZK)
Danger, Macrae, Cripps, Coniglio, Rowell, Budarick, McInerney, T Brown (Bennell, Fyfe, Pickett)
Gawn, Grundy (Combden)
Whitfield, Dusty, D Smith, Bewley, C Taylor, B King (Sturt, Georgiades)
I need two trade suggestions, Need to wait for Sunday teams to get named.
What two trades should I consider? I have one doughnut in backline for now. S Hill? Any thoughts?
Regards,
Daryl
Is Rivers gonna hold his spot?
Brander and Noble out is painful.
Brander injury anyone got any info? Gotta decide who to punt, him Noble or Rivers for Hill
Should i replace Fyfe with Danger or the Bont ?
I already have Macrae.
Seriously, is Brander out too?
Can't cover 4 outs in the backline in the one week. Could cover Stewart and Howe with Ridley and Maynard, but Noble and Brander are a bridge too far (as I haven't been able to dispose of Roberton).
I'm sharing your pain westy and I've got cripps and pittonet.on field, lucky I've got Butler he'll beat both their combined scores
I suppose we can hope for a virus outbreak and get best 18
True, mick. I picked up Butler too last week so Booyah! Funny to see Docherty outscored at half time by Max King! If that keeps up Sturt might be in my run on team to get King's E points.
Gee, Crpps is a spud, tonight. Making Cogs effort look good.
I have both. God help me. Gee wizz.
So do I. Got a feeling we're gonna see a 180 game from Cogs this week*
*I've been drinking.
Good to see you motivated him with your initial statement Andy, at least he tonned up, might have to hang on to him though, even though he's not delivering the big scores, can't sideways em all, although I'd like to.
Patrick Cripps………WTF! Get with the program mate. This effort is farking BS.
Steele owns him. Embarrassing
Steele is putting a steel rod up his rear end. What a joke that first half was by captain Carlton.
He's never been able to get a kick when against somebody his own size. Probably the most over rated player of the modern era
Dickhead mick
Patrick Crapps a Marc Shittonet!
hahahahaha
Even funnier is that somebody probably has Mcgovern
LOL, how's this one Mick?…I put Levi Casboult in my Fantasy side this week, doh
ouch. I can forgive that mate he looked good until tonight
Ratts will coach the pants off Teague. Saints could win this with 14 on field
This is the Carlton we all know and hate. What a pathetic team
So the carlton hating troll is back. Known as mick this week.
Sam walsh hahahahahaha talk about a one season wonder.
Umps feeling sorry for carlton now
How is walsh on 42? His every disposal has resulted in a turnover goal
Why is it that taggers regularly score well ?
Deboer hasn't been and he's probs the best around now, he just enjoys ruining other people's scores.
Could have a bit to do with tackle numbers
agree. Tackles are as good as a kick
I feel for poor Jack Martin, skinny little bloke carting 21 massive spuds around on shoulders every time he steps on field
Would be regretting walking out on GC me thinks.
Dan the man. That beard makes all the difference
Spewin I couldn't get him this week , was in the plans and had to reverse it, next week he'll go up another 60k
Long should get extra points for that screamer…pure entertainment value points.
glad i kept him
For an insane second before the bounce I considered trading King to Casboult………decided to hold King and save the trade for backline issues……….phew, bullet dodged.
Yeah Jug, and next week Casboult tons up and King gets 15 lol, silly game this is.
Hannebery probably out for the rest of the season, Saints should've just stuck with the youth and passed on the old clapped out blokes.
He's been a complete bust and poor value for the Saints….I thought he was half cooked when he left the Swans.
Agree Pman, Steele and Butler were good pickups, not sure about Hill yet, hoping for a reasonable year from the Saints this year, it's been awhile.
Saints are definitely heading in the right direction, have drafted/traded well, are coached well and King looks like he's going to be a very good forward too.
And its not like its the back end of a long season. Plenty of time to get the body right. Shortened game length. Not a good sign.
Agree mate, if I was a coach I'd never want to recruit guys whose best years were behind them.
I liked Richo but reckon Ratten is a better coach.
Would you have taken Stuart Dew, Burgoyne, GAJ, or Chris Judd?
There are success stories.
Hero to zero for the Doc.
Supercoach defies logic McGovern scored 25pts for getting flattened
Sympathy points?…lol, kinda like they used to award 45 points for the winning goal.
SC scoring is wierd McGovern scored 25 for getting flattened
Happens with Bont every week
Really pittonet is pretty 💩
I might take his 40 odd grand profit this week and punt him to Gawny next week..his 3 frees against didn't help.
Does absolutely nothing around the ground. And In the ruck really. But lll punt him hopefully next week
Yep. He is running out of gas. Will be at break even after next round. Should max out at around $470K. That’s a juicy $235K profit since I grabbed him on the bubble. I can see Maxxxx Gawnnnn on the horizon. 😎
Did anybody else see Pittonet win more hitouts than Marshall or was it only champion data that picked that up?
It looked to me like Marshall was tapping it to advantage a lot more, so Shittonet winning more doesn't mean jack if he ain't getting points for it.
Marshall is a very good Ruckman when he's left alone and he doesn't need someone like Ryder hanging around.
I reckon he had 10 hitouts at most Russty CD stats mob must be on the grog
I take it back Crippo. Somehow you ton up. Good lad. Pitto came in at near 0 breakeven. Cash to be generated but he's labouring. Has Swans next so could be held.
I’m a Carlton supporter and love Crippa but he was very lucky to ton up.
he was 11 at 1/4 time, 27 at half, 64 at 3/4
big second half
Why all this talk of Victorian clubs having to move interstate? We have some great footy ovals north of the great divide where the virus has never been. Mildura, Swan Hill, Kerang, Cohuna etc, etc, are the heartland of footy and most of the Victorian AFL stars come from up here so why is the AFL turning their back on us.
We're so clean and healthy up here there could even be crowds at the games
Tigers can go to QLD though we hate those dirty mongrels
Before the AFL give the excuse that they're worried that the germy city mob would also come up here; there's only one decent road and the cops can close that and if the infected masses try to sneak around the dirt roads? Well, primary producers don't have the same gun restrictions you lot do we've all got fully stocked gun safes and heaps of ammo.
Docherty played all his junior games at Phillip island beautiful oval not a single case down here and one bridge. No other way in unless you swim Collingwood and the Dees do preseason here regularly AFL could do worse
Think that there is a Ferry from Cowes mate and have ever noticed how many boats there are in the Northern suburbs of melbourne. 🙂
boats in northern suburbs? maybe tinnies on merry creek
Unfortunately Mick this is all state by state driven. Victoria as a state has dropped the ball on this one and are being punished for it. Irrelevant if the country areas are clean, no one wants to be going into Victoria at present and the AFL won’t take that risk. Plus honestly it’s about time the Melbourne teams do some bloody travelling as they are extremely advantaged every season. They should have to make the sacrifice and spend a month away just like the SA and WA sides have.
500kms+ from Melb to Mildura, Adelaide is closer, that's a fair bit of traveling.
Actually the true border is the high water mark of the murray and it has been on the melbourne side of Mildura, Swan Hill and Kerang a few times so according to the constitution that towns are in NSW.
It was proven in a 1970's court case when some bloke shot another bloke on the river bank on the Victorian side. When it went to court it was thrown because Vic cops didn't have jurisdiction.
Love Mildura, a great party town. Use to go there every year to drink and pick up. Well at least half of that is true. Haven’t been to the other places. Who knows what the AFL reasons are but I think they will start awarding the states who have the virus under control. SA for example hadn’t had a case for a month until a few days ago when they let a few come in from India. They were put straight into quarantine however but would be silly not having a hub there.
Hmm Adelaide Psycho killer capital of the southern hemisphere, maybe they can base the umps, Tigers, Pies and Bombers there. send carey and McGuire over as permanent commentators
Butler was robbed. No way cripps was as good as him tonight
🤔 Mahony, Serong or Hill. Can’t decide. Or should I select none? Decisions decisions!
I nearly grabbed hill this week Holty but I get the feeling that he's only one tackle xtra effort from finished
That is the only reason I haven’t picked him yet mate. It is a worry
i grabbed Hill last week and at quarter time i was pretty dam chuffed with myself. I only watched the second half of the game and didn't see him once and my first thought was he must be injured again. He will be a worry to have, but if he has a few more quarters like last week, he might be a good option. he should be in their best 22.
Has DPP. Works really well with Brander and Lukosius.
Extra trades this year, i thought what the heck if he gets injured.
Serong
Philp might be a good option to downgrade to next week. After 32 in his first game he should increase much this week on the back of 59, the trajectory is in the right direction unlike Relton Roberts, I mean Marion Pickett
Commiserations to Kade Simpson. Next week he becomes the losingest player in VFL/AFL history!
So sad
who does he beat?
Kevin Murray from Fitzroy, which is pretty apt considering that Carlton are the 21st century version of Fitzroy!
I reckon defensive puts this week will cause a few issues. I reckon Rivers should be named but wait and see tommorow and go from there. Is Ridley the real deal? Is he someone who can keep this form up?
I'm hoping so tbone and yes, damn all the defensive puts this week, good year to experiment with midpricers. this year is like a practice swing.
86 from King last night was nice. Then i had a look at my leagues and realised that 9 of my opponents also have King.
Easy beat his 33BE and will be worth holding for another week to get a price bump
Having to put Fyfe on the bench means an extra rookie on the field this week, King scoring good is a blessing.
Still need to get a good score out of either Brown or McInerney (looping) and;
However, I Need to pick one out of either Picket, Rivers or Taylor (through the power of DPP) cant loop them.
Have Fyfe, Howe and Viney
So after Brander missing out with no bench cover in defence I have to bench Fyfe. Trade Howe to Ridley and use the cash to trade Gould or Bailey Williams to S.Hill. Viney to Simpkin via DPP will have to wait until next week and Fyfe to Bont as well
Thoughts on those moves?
Stephen hill or Hayden young?
