Cheat Sheet | Round 5

Published by Statty Matty on

A bit like the Crows, the Cheat Sheet has been missing since footy has returned from quarantine. Thankfully Foz is all over it, and has done the hard work for you all this week.

Obviously 2020 is unlike previous seasons. Less games, more trades (per week), more volatile cash generation and cash reduction. With everything accelerated, that also means you should be well on your way through “upgrade season”. There are some good upgrade/downgrade targets here, which should help.

Let me know if there’s anyone we’ve missed, and how your teams are looking. Will you get to full premium this year, and when?

See ya in the comments. πŸ™‚

JohnDJ59 · 01/07/2020 at 15:38

I really want to get rid of Rozee, but not happy with the options, Howe will be going to Young or Haynes and I will be holding Fyfe or trading him to Serong or Bont.

KellaKonquerer · 01/07/2020 at 15:44

Pendles as a replacement for coniglio?

    Derek · 01/07/2020 at 16:10

There are a few moving pieces at the Pies. One option I have seen is Pendles goes to defence as Howe’s replacement. He did that role a bit in 2018. That would be bad for his scoring.

      Shake n bake · 01/07/2020 at 17:42

That won’t happen. They will try to replace him. Structure won’t change.

        Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:31

Will Darcy Moore get that intercepting role Shake?

          Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:13

I think that will be the case, Madgen/Dunn/Roughead will do more of a lock down and release Darcy to the be the intercept player, whist he doesn't have the aerial ability of Howe (who does?) his ability to read the play and athleticism should see him fill that role. That said I'm holding off on Maynard for a week to see how his role is impacted and are looking at Ridley for Howe for cash/points generation.

            Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 21:22

Cheers Pman…yeah I'm on Ridley too, reckon he's a great young player and will keep his spot regardless of who comes back in. Dudes like him are the Bomber's future.

          Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 09:41

He will still play on a tall. He has always had license to leave his man anytime he thinks he can impact on or intercept any ball coming in long. That’s why he had 11 marks last week with 6 of those intercepts.

Jez B · 01/07/2020 at 15:47

Thoughts on S Hill?

    Derek · 01/07/2020 at 16:13

Yep. I got him last week. Very happy with his first half, then ran out of puff.

You know their is the obvious risks but is price is stupid.

      TRIGGA_HAPPY · 01/07/2020 at 21:02

      Hey Derek
      Wanna reverse mills trade.
I was happy to trade leading into last week now have lost Williams for 4 weeks. 😑

        Derek · 01/07/2020 at 22:32

And Mills was playing in the guts where he belongs πŸ™‚

        Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 09:37

I lost Howe and Sidebottom πŸ™

      JohnDJ59 · 01/07/2020 at 21:09

Hey Derek, I noticed the Survivor Div 5 still has the same amount of teams as last week. Four were going this week right ?

        Derek · 01/07/2020 at 22:31

        I’ll sort it out tomorrow

EOFY got in way of SC this week

          JohnDJ59 · 02/07/2020 at 00:44

OK thanks Derek, I was just checking.

    Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:16

I'm holding for another week as I have Howe/Fyfe to address and would like to see how he goes Game 2. He should still be affordable next week even if he scores well this week. You would think if he plays well he'll be a lock for the rest of the year and he would be handy bench cover for the rest of the year and I like the DPP status too.

      Derek · 01/07/2020 at 22:35

I got Hill last week once I knew Howe was injured

Already had Naismith to deal with (just as I bought him in)

Knew I had to trade early on him because I couldn’t get him this week

Boy at quarter time is was happy

Shake n bake · 01/07/2020 at 16:52

Bellchambers in doubt

    Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:19

Nice to know as Grundy will be a lock for VC if that happens as he generally scores well against the Bombers at the best of times.

Valks · 01/07/2020 at 16:56

Howe to Corr

    Sausage · 01/07/2020 at 18:11

I am having a look at Corr as well. With Zac and Davis out how will that impact his role?

    Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:34

I'd trade Howe out to a proven top 6, Corr ain't that.

      Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:21

What are your thoughts on Ridley for Howe? I went early on Simpkin 2 weeks ago and are looking to roll the dice with Ridley for a similar result. Will also give me circa $370K in the bank for next week.

        Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 21:27

Don't mind it Pman, I'm actually going Stewart to Ridley this week.
I rate Ridley, he consistently gets around 17-18 possies.
It sounds contradictory what I said to Valks but I just meant, don't go from someone like Howe to an unknown, get someone proven good, or someone who's going really good.

The Ranger · 01/07/2020 at 17:25

Good to see the cheat sheet back, thanks Matty.

How many trades do we all have left?
What's the right amount at this stage of this peculiar year?
Can't decide if Serong is worth grabbing or hold the trade….

    Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:35

    19 Ranger…even if I trade 2 per week from now, I'd still have 3 for finals…different year!

    Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:21

21 right now but will have 19 after this round is completed.

Shake n bake · 01/07/2020 at 17:39

Was right with Rusty 4 week ban

    AuroraBorealis?! · 01/07/2020 at 17:57

Seems disproportionate, will hurt is a lot

      Shake n bake · 01/07/2020 at 18:26

I think they might contest the severity.

        Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:43

Wouldn't have helped that he was blind magott when they picked him up, Pies said in a statement they wouldn't appeal the decision.

      Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:24

Over the top in my opinion too but then again I'm a one eyed Pies supporter! In light of previous penalties I think 2 weeks out and 2 weeks suspended would have been adequate. First off field incident in Steele's career in 10 years and 200+ games that I can think of.

    Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:38

seems pretty harsh but also…one careless dude could bring the whole season down, lots of money lost there.

NDD · 01/07/2020 at 18:19

I am going to hold Rozee. A run of lows will happen with these young players . He will bounce back big

    Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:39

Same here mate, at least another week anyhoo LOL
Hope the skinny lil punk gets his shit together soon.

    Mikee · 02/07/2020 at 00:52

    Wise decision mate <img src="; width="1"/> <img src="; width="1"/>

    derek · 02/07/2020 at 11:20

Rozee's two good scores came against Suns (when they were bad) and Crows (before we realised they were bad)

he won't be a top 8 forward, might be time to stop the bleeding

gator59 · 01/07/2020 at 18:35

Trade Rozee and Cogs, Yes or no.. Will give me Simpkin and Parfitt

    The Ranger · 01/07/2020 at 18:50

Anything goes this year gator, if you've got enough trades then yeah, do it.

    NDD · 01/07/2020 at 18:51

Cogs for Simpkin and keep the other Still have Long Gator. looks like he is staying a while longer. Not the worst

      gator59 · 01/07/2020 at 18:57

Wines coming back in has cost Rozee points.. Long is not as bad as people think

        Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:40

I'm jealous Gator (cause I have to keep Rozee another week) but yeah hell, may as well do it.

    derek · 02/07/2020 at 11:17

what affect on Simpkin will Cunnington coming back have?

At $520k it is worth thinking about.

Cunnington was heavily tagged round 2, gave Simpkin room to move. Cunnington was a late out Rounds 3 & 4.

Surely this will have some effect on Simpkin when he is back.

Look at Rozee when Wines came back.

      The Jinx · 02/07/2020 at 13:59

      Thought the same thing Derek

That's the reason I stayed away from Simpkin last week picked Tracca over him. Not that Tracca is much better, but I feel he'll be a keeper top 10 FWD at most.

Matt · 01/07/2020 at 20:34

Parfitt or Petracca in for Rozee… thoughts? Which one?

    Russty_ · 01/07/2020 at 20:56

I reckon I'd almost go Parfitt over Petracca now, cause Melbourne just look like crud lately, they haven't scored more than 54 points this year.

      Matt · 01/07/2020 at 21:12

I like parfitt’s lower ownership too, hopefully Geelong is better than how they played against Melbourne and Carlton!

      Pman · 01/07/2020 at 21:27

Agreed, not sold on Petracca as has proven to be fools gold in the past and Parfitt is about $50K cheaper and DPP.

        JohnDJ59 · 02/07/2020 at 00:50

I started with Petracca and for what he cost, I'm happy with that decision. He is finally getting the mid time we were hoping for.

    JEL · 02/07/2020 at 10:27

I like the look of Parfitt, but his JS is a concern.
Scored a 114 in RD2, then was dropped??

      Valens_FC · 02/07/2020 at 13:16

He had hamstring tightness not dropped. He is nailed on best 22 and has worked hard to be fit to play midfield. I like him because he's scoring without kicking goals (because of midfield time), which stands out compared to some of the other FWD alternatives such as Wingard or Butler.

DEESNUTSRBIG · 01/07/2020 at 22:10

Goodwin is a bottom of the ladder coach for sure, the leader of a high talent low IQ side – The dees over handball (and get caught holding the ball) more than any team in the comp especially inside 50 – hard to watch.

Ando · 01/07/2020 at 22:14

Hey Community! I'm ranked 964th. If I want a chance of winning this thing, I need to trade Fyfe don't I?

Fyfe to Bont, Danger, Gaff, Duncan, or Parker?

Midfield currently is: Neale, Cripps, Macrae, Titch, Rowell, McInerney, Green, (Brown, Budarick, and Pickett).

    Derek · 01/07/2020 at 22:44

Stick the E on Brown for Friday night and see how he does. Then make a decision.

      Ando · 02/07/2020 at 11:16

Thanks Derek! Sound advice as usual.

    TOPHAWK1 · 02/07/2020 at 09:10

Yep. Trade out Fyfe and keep your momentum flying. Bring in the Bont I say! Good luck Ando! TH

      Ando · 02/07/2020 at 11:12

      Thanks TH!

TOPHAWK1 · 02/07/2020 at 08:44

Community………Adam Saad! Any love for him? I think he is an excellent option to replace Howe/Stewart. Check out the bloke's stats this season. Impressive!! He seems to improve each season and is very consistent. Great POD too. Cheers. TH

    Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 09:45

O Conner coming back maybe this week or next might impact a bit.

      derek · 02/07/2020 at 11:11

when you get someone like Saad going good, you need to think Why? Will this continue?

    Joe_T · 02/07/2020 at 11:08

Yeah Mckenna may effect his scoring, they play a similar role and usually end up "splitting" points between them. He's seriously consistent though but probably a bit too expensive for my liking, more value in Ridley since Mckenna shouldn't take too many pts from him.

poloko48 · 02/07/2020 at 09:35

Hi community hope everyone is keeping safe.
Currently having my best start to the season, ranked 1,855.
I need to get rid of Howe, and probably Fyfe.
I have 25 trades still left, so I can almost trade 2 per week for the rest of the season.
I'm not sure whether to paint the fence, or replace premo for premo, or double downgrade for extra cash gen.

Would love some advice, am leaning towards premo for premo to maintain ranking.

My team is:

DEF: Doch, Howe, Short, Starc, Noble, Rivers, Mcasey, Williams
MID: Neale, Cripps, Macrae, JKelly, Fyfe, Bont, Rowell, McInerney, TBrown, Pickett, Robertson
RUC: Grundy, Gawn, Pittonet
FWD: Dusty, DSmith, Taylor, Brander, Budarick, King, Cameron, Sturt.

Thanks community!

    derek · 02/07/2020 at 11:09

8 rookies on field needs to change

you also have a bit of deadwood on your benches

looking ahead to next week. Whitfield for about $440k is a steal, you will need to factor that into your plans (you could almost go straight Pittonet to Whitfield)

      poloko48 · 02/07/2020 at 18:00

So should probably go premo-premo this week and next week paint the fence which includes upgrading to Whitfield. Thanks Derek!

TBone_23 · 02/07/2020 at 10:55

Gday guys, barring selection these are my choices for trades this week. B. Long and Cogs to two of Wingard, Simpkin, B. Smith. These two guys will complete my fwd line. Other option is could grab McCluggage and B. Smith or Wingard! Cheers boys!

Joe_T · 02/07/2020 at 11:10

Thoughts on McCluggage to replace Fyfe? Bit left field but he's scored well the last 2 games when Zorko was injured and that should continue. Could be huge value at $535k, seems to be scoring quite consistently and who doesn't love a good POD?

    Valens_FC · 02/07/2020 at 13:21

I like it Joe – although he kicked badly for goal in the last game, his disposal efficiency is very high so he scores well with the possessions he gets. He's certain to go up in value over the next couple of weeks, whereas Fyfe will go down. In a year with so many trades, it may be a viable option to do it for a couple of weeks then maybe switch back (maybe they will be at the same price?) if McCluggage doesn't look a long-term hold.

      Joe_T · 02/07/2020 at 14:32

That was my thinking too mate, if it fails I can switch him to another fallen premo. Although Port haven't given up a lot of points in the midfield so I don't expect him to score too well this week. Could've easy cracked 200 last round if he could kick straight!

Ando · 02/07/2020 at 11:35

Howe to Daniel or Haynes and why?

    Pman · 02/07/2020 at 16:25

Haynes will take far more intercept marks than the human smurf (Daniels) will and as such probably has a higher ceiling and is cheaper too.

Mitch is Back · 02/07/2020 at 12:32

Which of the following would you trade-in and why?

Tom Green
Celab Serong
'Stephen Hill

Appreciate your expert advice

TelescopicCox · 02/07/2020 at 12:51

Having Fyfe & Howe this week has me torn on sideways to premos or going for a rookie. Leaning to Howe & Sturt to Ridley & Hill, but I'm really keen on Serong with increase mid minutes

Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 12:54

Bennell left out again

Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 13:04

Varcoe back in

FearTheBeard · 02/07/2020 at 13:51

Bont, Titch, Simpkin? Can't decide lads for a premium mid (got Neale, Cripps)

    Mitch is back · 02/07/2020 at 13:58

Bont of those 3, should own the midfield with Dunkley our, and Macrae in average form.

      FearTheBeard · 02/07/2020 at 14:20

Was thinking Simpkin. Anyone else got some opinions to drop in and help me make my decision finally lol. Bloody hate this part sometimes. Know one way or another I'll regret it 😐

        Mitch is back · 02/07/2020 at 14:30

Have you considered Pendles, with Sidebottom out for 4, not sure when Trelor is back, he and Adams will be leading the Pies midfield

        derek · 02/07/2020 at 14:31

i'm thinking we missed the boat on Simpkin. bit expensive now.

Titch would be my pick. He is starting to get back to 2018 form. Selction comes with a disclaimer that He will get the tag this week.

          FearTheBeard · 02/07/2020 at 15:51

Would you go Simkin over Bont?

hedski · 02/07/2020 at 14:02

Mitch Hibberd getting a run for the bombers this week, one to watch for next week.
I'm thinking of trading Howe to Ridley and getting the Chad in for a Pickett type that is sitting on my bench doing sweet fa.

    derek · 02/07/2020 at 14:32

nice downgrade option in the next couple of weeks when a few cows need to be culled.

Connor · 02/07/2020 at 14:07

Took a punt on Philp last week and he’s now been dropped. Do I trade Philp or Fyfe to Serong, or miss out altogether?

Also have Howe and no mid bench cover thanks to Bennell not being named so have to do something

ST1974 · 02/07/2020 at 14:07

Thanks for the Cheat Sheet, Matty. Great to see it back. I have 26 trades left and currently sitting pretty well in all my leagues. My only issue is Fyfe. I can keep him and put him on the bench until he returns (have McInerney and Budarick on the bench with Pickett as loophole) or trade him to Simpkin, Adams, Walters or Parker. If I was to trade, which of these would you choose?. Also, I would love any advice on any other trades I should be making this week. My team is as follows:

B: Lloyd, Doch, Laird, Noble, Brander, Williamson, Rivers, Watson (Free)
Mid: Neale, Mcrae, Cripps, Bont, Fyfe, Rowell, Starch, Green, McInerney, Budarick, Pickett
R: Grundy, Pittonet, Cameron
F: Whitfield, Dusty, Brayshaw, Smith, Taylor, King, Xerri, Sturt

Thanks Community!!

    derek · 02/07/2020 at 14:37

with all those trade, you may as well trade Fyfe this week.

Simpkin bit expensive and maybe effected by Cunnington coming back.
Adams will be effected by Trelor
Walters will get a nice boost while Fyfe is out, but he is bloody bloody expensive now
    Parker nice POD

      Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 16:11

Don’t mention Parker!! I need a POD if Brown stinks Friday then l most likely pull the trigger.

        ST1974 · 03/07/2020 at 17:37

Thanks Derek. Sorry Shake, I am leaning towards Parker, however, now I am also thinking about Titch who seems to be back to his best last week and is under 600k or Oliver who has not scored below 100 so far and has an extra game in hand due to the postponement of the Essendon game due to Covid 19. SHould I go with Parker or is Titch or Oliver a better prospect longer term.

Shake n bake · 02/07/2020 at 14:15

Ziebell out l think is still good for Simpkin. Even thou Cunnington comes back.

    Mitch is back · 02/07/2020 at 14:32

    Probably even better for Mahony

s.c.tragic · 02/07/2020 at 16:39

After careful consideration I have traded Howe/Maynard and Fyfe/Simpkins. Hopefully without regret.

FearTheBeard · 02/07/2020 at 17:45

Maynard or Ridley? Thinking Ridley and save the 100k?

Simpkin or Bont or Titch? Thinking Simpkin same story. Save the $

Means next week 300k to shop.

poloko48 · 02/07/2020 at 18:47

Going POD crazy this round:

Fyfe – Parker
Howe – Ebert using Brander swing

Next week will be able to bring in Whitfield by trading out Pickett, will then have FWD-MID swing set up with Whitfield – Budarick.

    poloko48 · 02/07/2020 at 18:48

and still have Pittonet up my sleeve to do FWD upgrade and move Cameron to R3

    mick · 02/07/2020 at 22:27

thanks for blowing the whistle on my POD Ebert Polok.

      poloko48 · 03/07/2020 at 19:12

sorry mate, I couldn't do it anyway this week with the carnage in defence! Have had to go Williams (WC DPP) to Hill and Howe to Haynes. Ensures no donut this week (subject to the cursed late outs of course).

ST1974 · 03/07/2020 at 17:47

I have both Brander and Noble on the field and they are both out with only Williamson on the bench as cover. Who should I trade out and who would you bring in. My def is currently Lloyd, Doc, Laird, Brander, Noble, Brander, Williamson and Watson. If I trade out Fyfe, I will have over $200k in the bank to spend.

poloko48 · 03/07/2020 at 22:16

Good stuff Brodie, nicely covers up my Doch VC disaster….
