Out: dunkley
Gawn
Roberton (stk)
Ben Davis (ade)

In: viney
Jacobs
Burgoyne
Heeney

Thoughts?

    Kris · 27/05/2020 at 23:32

    Burgoyne? He's 74 years old.

    Russty_ · 28/05/2020 at 14:44

Think Kris is right Crippa, Howe's a similar price and had a great start.

JR_Damo · 27/05/2020 at 22:11

Ceglar went big because Stef Martin wasn't playing. Totally forgot about that!

But his next few opponents are
Geelong, like who is their ruckmen,
Richmond up against Nank and maybe Soldo, should be at least an even battle,
North Melbourne, Goldstein will be tricky but not impossible to score well against
GWS, assuming Mumford isn't playing Jacobs should also be at least an even battle.

I still endorse the Ceglar selection.

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 29/05/2020 at 17:39

Dammitt went light up back and locked and loaded in the mids.
With zrt likely to miss gonna have to trade in one maybe two defenders.

Really dont wanna touch my mids but looks like incase of emergency break glass

But who?

Neale, bont, dunks, crippa, mccrae or cogs?

    Russty_ · 29/05/2020 at 20:47

I've got Bont and Macrae as well Trig and am offloading Bont for the greater good, I'd get rid of Dunks first of those 3 doggies.

      demonsjoy · 30/05/2020 at 12:22

I would go Bont as well Russty Get him later Trig and use the coin wisely. I also have had problems with logging in hence the new DEMONSJOY Hope it brings both my teams luck. NDD

        Russty_ · 30/05/2020 at 14:56

Bummer about this login issue Neil…hope the lads can sort it out for everyone soon, I must be one of the lucky ones for whom things haven't changed.

          demonsjoy · 30/05/2020 at 17:50

After a lot of useless emails to I D i gave up . No problems now though just can't use Demons Delight or NDD. How many trades are you using? I'm using 5 to fix the crap and get some cashcows. A few of these cheap forwards might be a trap though.Think your guy Long and maybe Townsend look better. Can't have them all though

            Russty_ · 30/05/2020 at 20:39

I'll probably use 5 also, initially I wanted to swap out some rookies who'll probably get dropped like Green and Cumming, really wanted to get Heeney in too but it would've meant getting rid of Bont and it's probs not the best idea to trade out a premo after one bad score.
Ended up doing this…not sure if it'll change yet,
Doedee, Naismith, Sturt, Long, Bennell in.
Bzt, Cumming, Cavarra, Jacobs, Green out.
If Green keeps his spot I still might swap Bont for Heeney but I think it's important to have max rookies playing early..even after that I still have no def rookie bench.

              demonsjoy · 31/05/2020 at 12:31

You are on fire mate .This year's HOLTY. Can't fault 5 ins ,maybe Bennell because of his calfs, 4 of the outs are smart but jacobs ,really mate,no one else? top effort Russty NDD

                Russty_ · 31/05/2020 at 19:36

Cheers mate I'm not getting too excited about anything, one good round does not make a season, I might still keep Jacobs yet..Bennell would only be a luxury if he's 100% fit, could be a great cow if he can last 4 to 6 rounds.

              The Jinx · 31/05/2020 at 20:12

              Awesome start Russty

I Had no luck with the rookies onfield while bench rookies scoring well.πŸ˜”
              Gresham hurt me as well.

I might also use all 5 trades, there's a few I missed Strut and Noble to name a couple and couple correction trade.

                Russty_ · 01/06/2020 at 23:28

Yeah reckon you need Noble and Sturt Jonah, Hope Gresh works out for ya, otherwise Rozee might be the go this year?

              TRIGGA_HAPPY · 31/05/2020 at 22:57

I'm going the other way rust. Looks like I have to trade dunks. But does turn bzt into Howe and bailey Williams into SPS (reckon he will excel with shorter qtrs)
As had 6 deep in mids just need to move Pickett on field to take dunks spot.

                Russty_ · 01/06/2020 at 23:26

Makes sense mate, 2 good pickups there.

            gator59 · 02/06/2020 at 12:29

I looked into the future and started Long NDD, It was a shame he missed the second quarter when he done an ankle.. He come back and played the last half snagging 118 SC points at 1.7 ppm..I think Champion Data are going to like him like Lioyd and Doc

              demonsdelite · 02/06/2020 at 16:16

Hi Gat hope all's well.I am still looking hard at Long The new role suits him

                gator59 · 02/06/2020 at 18:45

Hi mate hope all is well with you and all the crew.. Long had bugger all posies and looks like CD love what he does running out of the back line

    Derek · 30/05/2020 at 13:13

Defence was always going to be the problem this season. I started heavy with Laird, Sicily, Houston, Docherty, Lukosious and Roberton. I’m thinking about Doedee in for Roberton.

    Any new on Doedee?

demonsjoy · 30/05/2020 at 14:51

reckon you are on the money Derek I have LAIRD HOUSTON DOC LUKOSIOUS and Howe with Noble bench. Trying desperately to get Hurn. but SPS is M 5 with Rivers D 8 so forwards are suffering a tad Just dont like any cheap defenders. NDD

    Derek · 30/05/2020 at 15:09

Howe is good value. We will need a few $430k types to stay in team most of the year

I’m sticking with Lukosious, Love his DPP. Might swing him forward to fit Doedee in if I decide to keep Roberton. Give a swing set with Brander.

I also started with Rivers, mainly to give a swing set with Houston, but was thinking he wasn’t far away from a game.

    Any news on Rivers?

      demonsjoy · 30/05/2020 at 15:27

Hore is well in front of him Derek and there is a buzz about Harley so RIVERS may have to go very soon

        Derek · 30/05/2020 at 17:43

Is Bennell any chance to get picked early?

I’m looking to use all 5 trades, even if getting a rookie in early as we are back to only 2 trades after R2

Derek · 30/05/2020 at 15:29

Great casting of the POD fellas.

Round 2 is round 1 again, all about rookie selection.

Can’t really change my team until I see the round 2 sides named.

Derek · 30/05/2020 at 17:37

Naismith at R3 seems at first glance an excess luxury. But I’’m starting to consider it.

I have Grundy and Jacobs

Happy with Jacobs round 1 score, but it was against Fort.

Jacobs has Goldy (tough), English (easy), Grundy (tough) and Ceglar (easy) next four.

Naismith has the opposite TBC (easy), Goldy (tough), English (easy), Gawn (hard) next 4.

Have both at R2 and R3 gets 4 relatively easy games.

Having both should make some very nice cash, chance to trade both out in 4 rounds straight to Gawn.

Only problem is to find the cash now.

Was looking at Whitfield to either Howe or Petracca to get cash to bring in Naismith. Whitfield is a gun, but is over $600k and doesn’t seem value with only 16 minute quarters.

What are other Jacob owners doing?

    dontblushbaby · 31/05/2020 at 11:15

Previous thoughts were that Jacobs would increase by 100k and Max would decrease by 100k by 4 round, I still believe it could happen

Whitfield to Naismith is something I'm considering with 350k to splash around – Whitfield could drop 50k or more, Naismith could increase by 200k ??

The Team announcements will be crucial to all our thoughts, I'm not over thinking as it could all change with what Rookies get named or more importantly don't get named

    Shake n bake · 31/05/2020 at 17:10

I’m keeping Jakobs to rd 3 hope to make a few quid. And hopefully Gawn goes under 100 maybe for one of the next 2 rds. Bring in Gawn for rd 4 hopefully that would be at least $40k made there

Iridium 192 · 30/05/2020 at 20:34

I already have Naismith R3, with Grundy and Jacobs. It was my plan to change them out when their cash generation amxes out to Gawn

Ando · 31/05/2020 at 13:48

Any chance the Bont gets tagged the next 4 games in a row? St Kilda (Steele), GWS (de Boer), Swans (Hewitt), North Melb (Jacobs).

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 31/05/2020 at 17:42

    Steele probably, Alabama a cert
Not sure Hewitt gets a game
Jacobs no chance likely to retire under discussion.

Ando · 31/05/2020 at 15:15

Brayshaw to Long? Or hold Brayshaw?

    Derek · 31/05/2020 at 16:15

It was interesting to hear what Damo said in Podcast about why his TOG in round 1 was so low.

      TRIGGA_HAPPY · 31/05/2020 at 17:44

      Me took

Picked him as my.break out should back him in I guess..

    The Jinx · 31/05/2020 at 20:17

I'm asking myself the question whether to hold or pull the trigger. As what Derek pointed out, maybe hold one game and see if his TOG increase.

demonsjoy · 31/05/2020 at 16:02

majak daw out for most of the season Pec injury won't affect too many if any

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 31/05/2020 at 17:52

    Must be a LARGE injury!

Shake n bake · 31/05/2020 at 18:18

Fantasia quad out aswell

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 31/05/2020 at 18:47

    OraziNo.

    Russty_ · 31/05/2020 at 19:52

Damn…must've been from that fantastic effort in the JREL grand final

      Lekdog · 01/06/2020 at 14:48

He made the right call haha!

Jonah Montesclaros · 31/05/2020 at 20:04

Yehey! Footy is back, nice Podcast fellas.

Would it be a smart move to trade The Bont and pick him up later when he's at a cheaper price. I thino he'll drop in price in the next few games. Possible tags against The Saints, GWS and maybe Swans if Hewitt plays.

Also is there any news on Gresham if he'll play in Rnd2.

The Jinx

    Russty_ · 31/05/2020 at 20:14

Hey Jonah, word is Gresham and Long will be good to go, both played in a half hour scratchy at training on Friday and looked good.
Re: Bont, I'm probably doing it too…smart move?…who knows haha

      The Jinx · 31/05/2020 at 20:30

      Thanks Russty

I might hold for now on Gresham if he doesn't play on the day, will trade him out.

The Bont is interesting one, possible tag is there at 635k is a lot to start with and could drop 100k in next few games. If he scores around the same as he did in Rnd1 I will fall behind the pack by holding on him. Like you said…. who knowsπŸ˜”

Holty01 · 01/06/2020 at 14:52

So it begins. Big decisions to be made for all with these 5 trades. Do we throw all our plans out the window now with the shortened season or do we hold? Good old Russty is probably a prime example of the questions above. He smashed the first round with 2341 and sitting 514 overall but yet wants to use up all these 5 trades to fix his team. My question is “does his team need fixing?”
The landscape has certainly changed this season in SuperCoach so I ask the community, “what should our priorities be?” Here are my top 3 I’m looking at.
1.Defense – Although very happy with how most rookies scored, there is 1 glaring issue that has me worried. The lack of defensive rookies. We can’t correct our rookie mistakes here as there simply is no other rookies to replace them with. Another defensive premo will be bought in but at the sacrifice of another line.
2. The mid-price dilemma. Time and time again we get fooled by this. I’d say only 1in15 pays off every year but yet most of us will take that punt and try pick that diamond in the rough. Now although I argue this year my mid-pricer I didn’t want, my stubbornness forced me into Brayshaw as I didn’t want to remove any premos In my mids I’d already selected. A simple Dunkley to Hurn would of changed all of that and ultimately give me the opportunity to grab another premo to start (damn I’m a idiot). Anyway, hopefully my priorities 1&2 can align and problem sorted.
3.Got to catch Russty. Can’t let him beat me. πŸ˜‚

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 01/06/2020 at 18:05

Who knows what may happen rd 2 but are the def rooks really that scarce?

Two Freo boys hill and young likely to play
    Brandner will hold his spot
    Doodee and McAnstey likely
    Williamson likely
    Gould a chance
    Starveich likely to hold
    Bzt by all reports unlikely

    Whereas mids
    Green unlikely
    Budarick unlikely
    Brown unlikely
    Robertson unlikely

    πŸ€”

      derek · 01/06/2020 at 18:08

I forgot about Hill. Was in my team for a fair bit of pre-season.

It is interesting this year, only one week until players are on the bubble.

      derek · 01/06/2020 at 18:09

Trigga, are you interested in either of my trades in JJ draft?

        TRIGGA_HAPPY · 01/06/2020 at 18:11

I'll have a look and let u know

        TRIGGA_HAPPY · 05/06/2020 at 22:49

Derek had a look at trade I am interested but will have to wait on teams and see if Williams is named.
Else will leave me a bit light on in def πŸ€”

      Russty_ · 02/06/2020 at 01:25

Good call Trig and thanks for the info..almost forgot about Hayden Young and Hill, are there spots for both at Freo?
If Green, Budarick and Brown don't get another game, I'll have to scrap my 5 trade plans…can't afford to have too much dead bench wood.

      Holty01 · 02/06/2020 at 10:39

Hi Trig. There maybe some available, I’m more concerned about their scoring capacity.

    Russty_ · 01/06/2020 at 23:18

Hey bud, I think of using 5 trades as more 'improving' my side rather than fixing anything, trying to replace guys who probably won't get picked again or will lose money, some trades were done just to get the dosh to make it all happen, you could easy catch me in round 2 mate, you scored 2270 odd, bloody great start for you.
It's tough to know what to do, I've practiced so many different combos of 5 and less, at the end of the day it's about your overall score after the week is over. I don't wanna be this year's Holty…too much pressure for me haha, I hope you do overtake me mate πŸ™‚

Demonsjoy · 01/06/2020 at 16:44

Great analysis Hotly Still haven't fixed your I D problems? I just made a new account ,fixed it. Defense is the obvious problem/ If we keep these dud rookies too long it will kill us I will bring in Doodee next week giving me 7 live defenders 4 prems sps noble and Doedee This comes at a cost though I will be treating this as Round 1 where cash cows are so important. CASH COWS coming in Naismith Sturt Viney plus Howe and SPS As much as I hate it out go 2 keeper prems wnich is against everything superccoach BONT and WHITFIELD each linked to a dud rookie effectively Bont and Green for sps and Viney as well as Whitfield and Zerk -T for Howe and Sturt gives me enough bank to trade Rivers to Doedee It is going to take a different approach this year Time for an early rookie cull as if not selectedearly they won't be Does Russty 's team need fixing? probably not but do we need trades this year .Gold has gone down this year ,they are no longer keepers Naismith is a must have RUSSTY Cheers boys NDD

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 01/06/2020 at 17:47

    Wow.
Big call based on one game.
You must have started these guys for a reason.
Are you going to bring the premos back in?
If so 4 trades right there.
Not sure how Naismith fits with the 5 trades already mentioned above?

Remember crouching – he who chase car gets tired.

      derek · 01/06/2020 at 18:11

i'm having a good think about Naismith at R3. Will need to go Whitfield to Heeney for the cash.

        Russty_ · 03/06/2020 at 21:13

I think I'm a bit off the idea of Bont to Heeney, was gonna do that to make some other things happen but Bont averaged 114.7 last year and was the 6th ranked player overall, Heeney is still frustratingly inconsistent at times and has only exceeded 10 tons once.
Reckon I'll pick up Heeney later on after he's just dropped 2 shite scores.

          JEL · 03/06/2020 at 21:49

I'm just wondering that Heeney has had some niggles in the last season or 2, and this extended lay-off has refreshed the body.
If he is cherry ripe and performs like the 1st game, he could be the quality fwd we're after.

            Russty_ · 04/06/2020 at 11:19

Hey Jel, he's definitely been in my side the last three years running and I wish I'd started with him, but trading Bont out for him now for me might be too much, with 16 rounds and 4 weeks of finals still remaining we still have to watch our trades this season.
Ideally I'd want at least 4 going into finals.

      Demonsjoy · 01/06/2020 at 18:32

As I said Trigg it is done reluctantly BONT and WHIT will no doubt be in the top players but Howe and Viney will be well up there For me it's a way to get the right rooks and dump the ones I think won't play Rivers Starscevic Buda BZT probably 6 all up. Not enough time to hold them this year. It's an early call but one poor game could see them out for a long period .Players such as Macpherson Brayshaw Lukosious and Doedee will get a better run . I have chosen to keep darcy and Houston hoping they play in their best position Naismith is the odd one out ,.purely a cash cow and back up .

      gator59 · 03/06/2020 at 10:11

Exhausted welcome. I agree with Trigga in WHY trade out your PREMOS if you've picked them for a reason and going to get them or other premos back in for some reason is a total waste of trades.. Mid price madness is stupid, but in saying that I've brought one mid pricer in while keeping all the premos that I've started with ..It may turn out the year for such madness and good luck to you if it is, but I'll stick with my Guns and rookies.. cheers Gator

        demonsdelite · 03/06/2020 at 12:10

Though in other years you both are quite correct even the top coaches like Holty is considering a premium sideways trade to bolster a weak defence 'at the expense of other lines'. The one thing we don't need is slow or non gaining rookies. I have 6 including a loop. How can we get close to full if our rookies don't increase? I was a tad overboard dumping 2 prems and will probably go Bont to Hurn which gives me Doedee as well. ,,fixes my defence easily and Rivers /starcevic go giving me one less non-scoring rook. 4 non playing rooks will do me,,Russty and Holty both have 6 at present Holty is right about midpricers they rarely become keepers Two, Oliver and zac williams come to mind but plenty fail One in fifteen is about right. This turns me off SPS Rozee Brayshaw Macpherson Long who wont be there at the finals. Doedee and Lukosious are different, cheaper for one but both can be valuable like Walsh last year.So agree GAT prems and good rooks, including Doedee and Lukosios for me too ,no midpricers NDD

          gator59 · 03/06/2020 at 12:43

I also have 4 non playing rooks atm and I'll bet my left nut on three of them will be playing in the very near future.. Long will be interesting and I think this will be the break out year for him.. If things go to plan down a Saint land with him he could turn out to be like last years Marshall.. I can see big scores coming from him.. Bont to Churn butter and cheese sounds fair enough but personally I'd be backing the Bont

            demonsdelite · 03/06/2020 at 13:34

Bont just too expensive gat Hurn and Doedee over Bont and Rivers anyday. Looking LONG and hard at LONG,just that little bit dear and becomes a midpricer which I dont want unless they are related to OLIVER or Z. WILLIAMS You could well be on the money with Long pity he plays for a bottom team though imagine him at Melbourne with Harley Jetta and Kozzy

              Russty_ · 03/06/2020 at 15:49

Good news is Neil, it'll probably be in the Saint's backline alot where Long can do his thing..reckon I'm gonna go down the gator road and take a chance on him, just hope he hasn't gotten too fat and lazy visiting the rellies in Darwin lol

                gator59 · 03/06/2020 at 16:04

Hi Russty, His ppm is hard to ignore and missing the second quarter he would've racked up 150+.. Not sure on how many posies he had and the ratio of ppm were insane compared to time on ground

                  Russty_ · 03/06/2020 at 17:01

Hi Col, yeah he looks like a jet and that chb position is perfect for him…I think he had a fair few intercept possies which always racks em up.

From what I seen in the pre season games Russty and first round for some reason CD love him

Think I have heard enough from ABBOTT and Costello , Zac Dawson would rack up points when you play Colac 3rds .Come on lads take an aspro 2020 NOT 1966 lol NDD

                    gator59 · 03/06/2020 at 18:40

I think i'd rather a Bex than aspro.. If my calculations are right '66 came after '64 Zac would fit in just nice in Colac Auskick 3rd's

don't forget it was the mighty dees that gave you Kent. I checked that out and you are right 66 is after 64 Bet we make it first

Is King an option at all?

                    gator59 · 05/06/2020 at 13:51

He's an option but it's a no from me because he doesn't fit my structure.. Plus if McCartin plays also with Membrey and KENT he may have limited time on field

    Holty01 · 01/06/2020 at 19:16

Agree with Naismith. Sydney was a different team when he was on the park a few seasons back. I rate him so highly that when fit I think he is almost in the Goldy class. When he was named round 1, I had no hesitation starting him. I guess we will see round 3 if my assumption on him is accurate when he plays Goldy.

I just can't do it – i cant bring in the likes of Viney or Naismith just because they will save cash and make money. Is it the right thing to do this year, probobly. But I'll be dammed if im going to change up my way of playing SC for it. The only thing I can see I'm changing this round is the rookies. I know we have all these trades and that this year will be different, but downgrading premiums to midpricers is something I dont do, and i will gladly lose my overall place this year for it.

Good on you for sticking to your guns Jess, I just reckon with Naismith, he could easily do what R.O.B did last year, make stacks of cash and score well, even if at R3, he'd probably be a better cashcow than most rookies will.
P.S agree with Viney, not going there for me, too inconsistent / injury prone.

    Jess · 03/06/2020 at 20:52

On second thoughts, rookies are still going to be the best way to make money. More trades just means targetting the ones who score 80 odd one week and being able to be creative in how early we cull them – even if that means trading to a non playing rookie. Viney could well score 70 for a few weeks, and Naismith could get monstered compared to Gawn etc. We all still have the same amount of cash as when we started. We will have enough trades to get us out of having no bench cover if it comes to that, the main game is the points, not the cash gen. Dont screw your team up
