Jock Reynolds Evolution League WRAP | Preaseason 1

Published by Patch on

How bloody good was that? Cam McCarthy taking hangers? Full backs doing stupid, stupid things? Fyfe indeed being life?

Football was BACK on Friday night, albeit in an electronic, virtual form, and with it came the newest game in town – the Jock Reynold Evolution League.

Put together by the esteemed minds of the Inner Sanctum – with special shoutouts to Clarky, Foz, Lek and Damo for being the brains behind it – we’ve devised our own fantasy footy format and with over 75 teams in round one it was a roaring success.

If you missed the stream, head over to Lekdog Games on to check out the full replay, and we’ll be going live again on Sunday evening for round two.

We kicked off with Melbourne vs Adelaide, and despite Tom McDonald’s best efforts to punch the ball to victory, he in fact kept punching it to Tom Lynch, who kicked four goals while Dom Tyson racked them up.

However, Tom McDonald wasn’t going to be the worst performance of the night at full back as James Frawley STOOD UP. In a bad way. While he finished with 50 points, it’s because they were the worst 50 points you’ll ever see in your life.

Where McDonald took punching the ball into the hot spot to a skill, Frawley made it an art form, and then added playing on and handballing it straight to Cam McCarthy for a goal. It was PUTRID.

Meanwhile Big Boy topped the scoring for the brown and golds, while Fyfe is Life continued to hold true in every fantasy format of the game as the Freo skipper whacked out a massive ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY, while wunderkind Shane Kersten also tonned up.

We’ll do our best to update the Google Doc and make a ladder at the end of Sunday’s games, but until then stay safe.

Rapt to be on top, at least for now. Hoping a community member can show me up!!!

Nice work Foz..head and shoulders above all us rabble lol

Plenty of fun off the bat, though. Any opinions for making the experience better, don’t hesitate to tell us. We’re all learning this process together and it’ll be a better game if we all pitch in

my team didn't score well can u fix that pls mr fozdaddy?

I cannot as it goes against the moral fibres of my role as the points guy

Was really fun. I did some quick (potentially inaccurate) number crunching and found that the Adel/Melb game came out to 1551 points while the Freo/Haw game came out to 1603 points.

Should the numbers be normalised to a set number like how SuperCoach (to 3300) or am I over thinking this due to SuperCoach withdrawals?

Also loved the commentary since you guys knew what you were doing compared to the Sportsbet one, keep up the great work.

The scoring system is based purely on statistics at this stage, not on impact. After every round we’re assessing whether we change the points allocation at all. Issue with scaling we found was because the bench players are scoring quite low, and some players don’t register a stat, Fyfe would’ve scored 300 whilst four players from the same game would’ve had 0

Boo two of my players scored 0 🙁

I had 3 donuts Jimmy…and a really bad score lol (no Fyfe) it'd be nice if the quarters were a bit longer so there'd be more of a chance for all our players to get a touch..also I'd say to everyone going forward, do not select players named on the bench!
In real footy, they get a decent this they pretty much stay on the bench lol

576 for me.. Had the sleeveless Seed and Jenkins in the ruck. No Fyfe and a poor captain choice also didn’t help. Onwards and upwards

First few weeks are learning and tinkering with the game and it’s selections! Everyone is in the same boat!

Last minute team changes galor will level the playig field. Go lions!
