Lekdog’s Pre-Reduced Season Team Reveal

What do you think community? Any impacts from today’s announcement on your mind?

hedski · 16/03/2020 at 19:24

About to listen, that your team Lek?

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 19:29

    That's my team!

hedski · 16/03/2020 at 19:28

3 trades per round?

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 19:30

That's what I'd do, who knows what a round looks like though

G. · 16/03/2020 at 19:36

Would starting both jacobs & naismith be in any way viable?

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 19:38

ABSOLUTELY but you need to make up the 130 points you're missing by upgrading rookies to underpriced guys

    Therealsharkmove · 16/03/2020 at 20:43

Grundy is my 1st picked player. Whether we have 100 trades, or 1 trade, or any number in between.

I think the winner of SC will be whoever can adapt the best. I reckon alot of people will go too far with their strategy though.

Troy · 16/03/2020 at 20:10

So, we definitely want players with high kicking efficiency and tackle numbers

hedski · 16/03/2020 at 20:12

Off footy, on topic.
I was off work crook (cold/flu symptoms) from Tuesday til Friday last week, doc didn't test me for corona because of low risk where I live and any contacts I've had.
My employer (big company) called me Friday arvo and said I needed to see doc and get a return to work clearance before I could return, so I had to take another sick day today and go to the doc.
He refused to write me the clearance, rang my work and said he had government advice that this was unnecassery for normal cases of sickness as it would clog the clinics and genuine sick people would not get seen to.
My employer argued that it must be done and he told them to call the Department of Health, then he told me to get my fee for today reimbursed from work because it wasn't needed.
Work called me a few hours later and gave me the green light to go back tomorrow.
Not saying it's not serious, but he also said that people my age are generally not at to much risk and would be elderly and pre existing conditions that will get hit harder, most people will have mild flu symptoms.
Anyway hope the footy starts soon and people stop panic buying, i have 4 kids here and couldn't find any bog rolls and bugger all food today.

    Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 01:01

I know mate it bloody ridiculous, the morons panic buying are ruining any chance of non panic merchants being able to buy normal stuff, I'm in the Southwest of W.A and haven't been able to buy any toilet paper, tissues, paper towel for weeks, and now it's more and more food products every day, idiots just need to calm down.
Those Brisbane Scientists / Professors have already pretty much found a cure, they just need the funding and time to get it all tested and distributed, could be within a month or 2 if the Govt does the right thing and funds them with whatever they need.

      Skateordie · 17/03/2020 at 01:11

A cure isn’t a vaccine unfortunately.. but still positive

Rocky · 16/03/2020 at 20:13

I’m hearing 22 trades fellas.
What makes NicNat a lock now? Are the quarters shortened?

    Therealsharkmove · 16/03/2020 at 20:38

Reduced trades and larger list is what I'm expecting.

I remember when we had 17 teams (1 bye each week) we had a list of 33 to choose from. If teams have bigger lists, I think we do too.

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 22:29

Word is quarters will be 16 minutes

Rocky · 16/03/2020 at 20:29

Breaking News!!! Scott Pendlebury of the Collingwood Football Club has gone into self-isolation with flu like symptoms!
Wow! Just wow! Don’t pick any Collingwood players fellas! Or players that play early against Collingwood….Or players that play those teams that play Collingwood early…..So, who are we left with? Anyone reckon Swallow can average 105+?

    Holty01 · 16/03/2020 at 21:27

I think he has been in self quarantine for at least 3 days now.

    Rocksta_ · 16/03/2020 at 21:32

    He came up negative

    Rocksta_ · 16/03/2020 at 21:56

No, just checked Herald Sun Website. Apparently reports Pendles had tested negative were false, and he is awaiting results tmr. It also says if he or any other player in the league tests positive before Thursday, the start of the season could be postponed to as late as June or July.
It appears inevitable that players will test positive at some point. Hence the 17 weeks and the potential for the season to run into December.
I think the AFL are doing the best they can with a very bad situation.

      Tony · 16/03/2020 at 22:49

The season can’t run into December. Half way through October is as far as they can go.

      NoLanguage96 · 16/03/2020 at 23:49

The G is contracted to the cricket from mid October so there's not much wriggle room

        Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 09:05

Just don't used the G past October then. The season has already become more 'fair' by everyone playing each other once, how about going further and allowing the top team to have home ground advantage for the GF. If it's a Melbourne team, Marvel Stadium.

It won't be the same not having the GF at the G, but this season can't possibly remain the same.

Billioux · 16/03/2020 at 20:43

Crazy times. A positive, no byes? as such

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 22:30

If every round is a bye, then no round is.

John Smith · 16/03/2020 at 20:58

What did this mean for 18 team leagues?
Do game days start at round 1 or round 3?

    Holty01 · 16/03/2020 at 21:31

Would have to be round 1. Be like premier league. No finals, just minor premier I would imagine

      Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 22:30

      Would think so

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 16/03/2020 at 21:18

Press release from herald sun with heading:

"How 17 game season will affect supercoach"?

Article content-supercoach will continue.

Thanks for that!

How about giving us something we can USE!!! 😬

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 11:12

Cause they expect you to fork out for everything…even Coronavirus news.

Rocksta_ · 16/03/2020 at 21:37

I hope you’re right with your theories Lek and Patch.
I’ve just turned Dusty into Macpherson to free up cash to turn a first year rookie in my backline into Roberton. One less Rookie I need to worry about.

    Lekdog · 16/03/2020 at 22:30

Steeeve · 16/03/2020 at 22:29

Assumption is AFL want to start Thursday. Too much already in place. Then phase out with networks, sponsors, clubs etc after a month.
If I was the players I'd want to postpone the season and go straight through from May. Stop-start would benefit nobody.
Curveball: Coronavirus is supposed to be at its worst for Oz in May. So 4 games then a break could mean they try to return when things are much worse than now. Still no crowds etc. Would be a shamozzle.

    Tony · 16/03/2020 at 22:57

They have to start the season now or risk not having enough time to have the season at all. While they are still able to have games they will have games. The season will be postponed when it needs to be, most likely during May when the virus is at its peak. The season will be a “shamozzle” anyway, but at least this way we should get a season.

Ando · 16/03/2020 at 22:36

Will Sicily be used as a forward at times like last season? Or will he be used purely as a defender?

    Derek · 16/03/2020 at 22:55

The hawks now have Lewis and Patton along with Gunston up forward. Plus, once BigBoy gets back in the ruck, there will be Ceglar. Plenty of talks up forward

      Ando · 17/03/2020 at 09:13

      Thanks Derek. Sicily locked in.

    Steeeve · 17/03/2020 at 14:14

I can't help bit worry that one or two injuries and he'll be back forward

Tony · 16/03/2020 at 23:02

Not a bad team Lek! Think you could drop one of those mids for a defender though, doubt Gould or McLennan play.

Gainsy · 16/03/2020 at 23:02

Birch an option if it goes to shorter quarters.

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 16/03/2020 at 23:36

Time to throw out or at least rethink your loophole too as wont know who plays when after rd 4! πŸ™‰

    KeenButClueless · 16/03/2020 at 23:55

Might be Cameron on the bench to cover Grundy. Maybe more of a chance to play anyway if they cram 3 games in 2 weeks and need to give Grundy a rest

      Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 09:11

Actually I was thinking of a radical plan that would involve:
      Grundy R1
      NicNat R2
      Cameron R3
      Williams D7
      Brander F7

Obviously, Cameron could back up Grundy but would it be possible (without using trades) for Williams to backup NicNat?

Could you (in theory) sub Cameron from R to F, Brander from F to B & Williams from B to R?

        Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 09:12

If only Williams was F/R (like he actually is) instead of the useless B/R

        DavidC · 17/03/2020 at 16:55

        You can I believe.

Trade Williams out, trade in X.
Trade out Cameron, trade in Williams.
Trade out Brander, trade in Cameron.
Trade out X, trade in Brander.

Suggest you test it after R1 and before R2 lockout. Net result should be 0 trades used as you still have the same players you started with. Reverse trades if it doesn't work. I've never been game to do it after lockout but advised someone else and they said it worked after lockout. No guarantees it still works.

          Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 17:52

Genius David, ill give it a go

          Doc_1 · 18/03/2020 at 21:36

This didn’t work the year Blicavs was mid/ruck. Had planned for exactly that scenario and no dice.

They may have updated the algorithm since, because should be able to shuffle multiple DPPs.

Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 02:58

Not that I'll probably need it after tomorrow but here's the 14348th version of my team for this season…I'm pretty happy with it, cash in the coffers is $3300 and a prediction of 1932.

Laird, Houston, Doch, Roberton, Noble, Brander –Williams, Gould
Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Coniglio, McCluggage, Rowell, Ash, Pickett –Robertson, Mahony, Budarick
Grundy, Jacobs — Comben
Whitfield, D.Martin, Rozee, Steven, D.Smith, Rankine — Taylor, Cameron

    Ando · 17/03/2020 at 09:26

Nice team Russty! When will Mumford be back? I've gone for Nic Nat myself.

      Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 09:56

Cheers Ando..yeah Nicnat could definitely pay off for you, don't think Mummy will get much of a look in this season, GWS would be looking to get the most out of Sauce I think with his remaining years.

    Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 10:00

Thanks Neil, team wasn't far from this before the announcement, changes made were…
Sicily to Houston, Young to Roberton, Bont to Cogs and Starcevich to Ash.
It's gonna be a weird season…hopefully from here, we'll still have something to salvage.

    Derek · 17/03/2020 at 15:37

    I’m going very similar

Only real diff is I have Sicily and you have Rozee

I thought defence was about more predictable

    Good team

Holty01 · 17/03/2020 at 09:05

Going to be tough to finish full premo this year I think.

    Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 10:06

You're not wrong Holty, if it lasts, this season will be about who dances the best with who they brung, how well the value players we pick step up and how durable they are…also how well those more expensive rookies perform will be a big factor too, maybe allowing us to hang onto them a bit longer because they're earning their keep, rather than making us want to cash them in asap.

    Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 12:47

I think the idea will still be the get to full premo….It's just the definition of a premium has broadened now

Lekdog · 17/03/2020 at 09:19

In light of the reduced season I will likely get a couple of value midfielders to bolster defence but thanks!

TommyC99 · 17/03/2020 at 09:41

So with these changes does this mean we need to bank on more midpricers and loook for more value? For example Petracca instead of dusty and Cogs/Mcbags instead of fyfe/Danger?

    Holty01 · 17/03/2020 at 10:53

I think most are looking at it this way Tommy. I’m the opposite. I won’t be mucking around with this though. Don’t think there is enough trades for any corrections this year

TommyC99 · 17/03/2020 at 12:02

Other than the fact theres no byes everything else that you said is not factual. Everything is all speculation right now so i'm not sure you can be that definitive. This is a very unique period of time right now so i don't think anyone really knows whats going to happen in regards to supercoach.

Shake n bake · 17/03/2020 at 12:05

Houli out calf

    Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 13:03

Ugh, another one of my Draft backline bites the dust

      Shake n bake · 17/03/2020 at 13:24

      Probably just worried πŸ€”πŸ˜·

        Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 15:53

Actually Shake it was probably just a joke but you make a very good point.
Of course the players would be concerned (like the rest of us) but at the moment if they want to still play, I can guarantee it's because they want to be paid. (Which is fair enough, I only go to work for money)

But, during the season are we going to see loads of players say they're sick or injured because they don't want to play, but still want to be paid?

Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 13:01

Bit hostile there mate, no need for any name calling…I would've thought if they're reducing the games in the regular season by almost a quarter, wouldn't the trades have to match that? I'm guessing 22 or 23

    Therealsharkmove · 17/03/2020 at 16:00

Agree with Russty. If you are reducing the games but making the turnover between games shorter, the most sensible thing to do would be less trades, but an extra rookie per line. (And slight increase of cap to match)

Remember in Gold Coast 1st season we were given a list of 33 and $11,000,000 salary due to their being a bye each week. I think with the uncertainty of players missing games, this would be a sensible move.

Agree the trades could be reduced though.

      Jess · 17/03/2020 at 16:16

All i know is sc is far more flexible than AFL in general. They may make changes, they may even be downright borderline unfair, but there will be a season and we all have to be prepared for big changes. We will know more in an hour or so. Good luck, good health, and all the best finding toiletnpaper everyone. Jess xx

        Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 17:02

I'm down to my last twin pack of Handee Ultras Jess Lol

          Jess · 17/03/2020 at 19:30

1 roll and none within at least 200km.

          No idea what to do

            Russty_ · 17/03/2020 at 23:08

I guess it's like the old days, a washcloth and a bucket of water

Jess · 17/03/2020 at 16:09

I went into meltdown last night and changed my team till it was sadly unrecognisable from the one i had spent so long planning. I've now calmed down and changed it basically back to what i was. Think we back what we previously had planned, and maybe add one so midpricers or 250kish players in. But thats all. Depending on what we are faced with i will trade aggressively and still think we will get close enough to full premium fast. Im still backing in a basically g&r team.

What does everyone else think?

    JohnDJ59 · 17/03/2020 at 16:21

I haven't changed mine for a whole week and will only change for rookie availability. I have 8 premos, 6 mid priced players that could become keepers and 8 rookies on field. I'm not too worried anymore since I don't expect the season will be completed.

    hedski · 17/03/2020 at 21:16

Good on them, it is the media that is causing panic and blowing this out of proportion.
These kinds of lock downs are unprecedented since WW2.

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 17/03/2020 at 21:54

Really clever by the players to jump on the comment "if the season has to run over 40.weeks then that is what we will do"

    Players simple but clever response:
Why can't we play 22 games over 40 weeks therefore limiting the pay cuts?

    Forehand smash.

    Your serve AFL……

      The Ranger · 18/03/2020 at 09:43

Ando · 18/03/2020 at 09:24

I'm flip flopping between starting Gawn or not. It's either Gawn and Starcevich or Nic Nat and Sicily. I'm leaning towards the latter. Thoughts?

    TommyC99 · 18/03/2020 at 09:35

On face value, you'd think Nic Nat and sicily would average higher. Although just a thought, since we don't know the structure of how the games will be played later in the season if theres a lengthy layoff, if they start having to cram games in i can't see Nic Nat playing off a 4-5 day break, whereas you'd think as skipper Gawn would.

      Ando · 18/03/2020 at 12:04

Thanks Tommy, that's certainly something to consider.

Jorg Ancrath · 18/03/2020 at 09:28

Thoughts on TMitch? If it's a shortened season, shorter games, he's a guy who will rack up possessions. Only needs half a game to ton up and less chance he tires end of year.

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 11:06

Good point Jorg, more resting time for his leg, and he does score quickly.

Holty01 · 18/03/2020 at 10:32

BeveridgeFC (Anthony). I just dropped you from my league as your team hadn’t been completed. You were in my league Lek and Patch’s rabble last year so would be good to keep you onboard. If your still keen, let me know and I’ll make some room.

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 11:02

Hey Holty do you know who he is on here..does he post on here?
He's in my JR Megaleague too and I don't remember him being there last year

      Holty01 · 18/03/2020 at 15:37

He joined my league when I sent the email out to all who were in my league last year. Not sure who it is though.

The Jinx · 18/03/2020 at 11:29

I thought I had my team was set and never to touch it before the season starts. Went a panic more and my team has changed a million times in the past 5 days.

I think I'm happy with this set up, with 184K in the bank left gives me some room for an upgrade later on.

Laird, Ryan, Doc
Roberton, Bzerk, Noble
Williams, Gould

Macrea, Neale, Cripps, TKelly(Titch)
Coniglio, Rowell, Green, Pickett
Robertson, Mahony, Budeerick

Grundy, Sauce Xerri

Whitfield, McPherson, Steven
Smith, Schultz, Brander
Rankine, Cameron

Good luck all and stay safe.

EndofttheWorld · 18/03/2020 at 12:06

Nic Nat No – If they are compacting game schedule he'll miss 1 in every three games IMO.

EndoftheWorld · 18/03/2020 at 12:24

"….and hopefully it bones Collingwood somehow."

Hahahahaha ! Something most of us can agree on.

Jorg Ancrath · 18/03/2020 at 12:38

My new team:

Houston, Crisp, Docherty, Noble, BZerk, Young (Brander, Williams).

Cripps, Mitchell, Dunkley, Yeo Conigilio, McCluggage, Rowell, Pickett (Robertson, Starcevich, Budarick).

Grundy, Naismith (Cameron)

Macpherson, Petracca, Brayshaw, Stevens, Smith, Taylor (King,

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 14:48

Nice Jorg…fwd line could backfire a bit though, only change I'd suggest would be to get at least 1 premo in your fwd line maybe at the expense of Yeo but hey!…who knows this year πŸ™‚

    SC_2020 · 18/03/2020 at 16:47

Any cash left? Naismith might fark you up, Sauce a better option IMO. I don't think Stevens is fit (he might have a virus) so you might have to rearrange your fwds. Not sure you need 3 high priced rookies in defence, you could easily free up some cash there too.

      Jorg Ancrath · 18/03/2020 at 16:59

My strategy is based on cash generation being out the window. No one will get full keen I in 17 rounds, so we'll need mid pricers. But if Stevens is out I'll probably run one rookie deeper and possibly upgrade Naismith. Yeo I'm very bullish on. Will average 115 imo.

        SC_2020 · 18/03/2020 at 18:18

Yeo is.a gun, al little up and down. He is very tempting at his price.

Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 13:14

J Stevens most likely out if games go ahead this week

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 14:31

      Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 14:51

        Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 15:27

Yeah Shake, I saw that, I had to dump Ash for Green and Steven for Brayshaw, I didn't really wanna go there with Brayshaw this year..anyways, all depends on the zombie apocalypse I guess.

Brown gets his chance with trealor out. He’ll turn out to be a good player. If he keeps his spot will be another thing. but l know the pies want to bat deeper in the mids. He’ll be a main stay 1 day.

harva · 18/03/2020 at 13:39

What are our thoughts on dev smith and brayshaw vs clarry and a rookie

SamuraiPizzaCat · 18/03/2020 at 16:06

I'm a bit late getting set up this year. Anyone have spare league spots that I can join? Going to be interesting to see how this season pans out..

Therealsharkmove · 18/03/2020 at 19:19

Amongst all the confusion and anxiety the COVID-19 has created I don't think anybody has realised something staring straight at us, but….
Surely Lekdogs Team Reveal deserved its own post!

Julz · 18/03/2020 at 19:33

Any league codes I can join, been overseas for 2 weeks, now on bloody self isolation!!

    Dill · 18/03/2020 at 20:15

Spuds R us (324896) should be a tight comp

      julz · 18/03/2020 at 20:19

thanks have joined 007 Golden Guns is my team i usually finish top 1%

Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 19:47

    Therealsharkmove · 18/03/2020 at 20:02

Great news! If they can only have less than 100 people at an indoor event would that mean games at Marvel must be with the roof open? I'm thinking 22 per team is almost half that already, then you would add in coaches, trainers, physio's, umpires, cameramen, journos etc

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 20:14

It says it's still 30 trades and no bye rounds, but it could change.

    TOPHAWK1 · 18/03/2020 at 20:19

You beauty!! Time to finalize my team! Its time for some serious midpricer madness!

      Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 20:38

Few mid priced players to get a gig in my team to.

      TOPHAWK1 · 18/03/2020 at 21:21

      Hi Neil,

We are now looking at 16 minute quarters, a reduced round season, an ongoing rookie drought, and uncertainties galore because of the Coronavirus. I reckon midpricers have to be seriously considered now. Having too many rooks makes no sense now, as many wont get a gig. And even if they do, there will not be enough rounds for them to turn into plump lambs to cull. Just my take NDD. Cheers. TH

    Dan · 18/03/2020 at 23:06

    Woo hoo!

Dill · 18/03/2020 at 20:14

Just trying to fill up our league guys. Three of us are regularly in the top 1000-2000 overall. Spuds R us (324896) cheers

Pieman · 18/03/2020 at 20:21

Macpherson or Greenwood ?

    Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 20:25

Tough one you could get either

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 20:41

I like Macpherson's chances of getting near a ton average, being young and hopefully in the mids, Greenwood is 27 now and never really went to the next level.

Danners · 18/03/2020 at 20:25

Great podcast lads! Crazy to think the season is starting tomorrow night now. Thought I might as well get some of the community's wisdom on my team since my preseason research has been lacking this year. Rookies are subject to teams tomorrow

My team is currently:
DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Docherty, Zerk-Thatcher, Starcevich, Gould (Bianco, Rivers)
MID: Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, Parker, Coniglio, Rowell, Green, Pickett (McHenry, Robertson, Budarick)
RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (D.Cameron)
FWD: Whitfield, Martin, Steven, Smith, Brander, Georgiades (King, Rankine)
$10,000 in the bank

Also 178438 is a league code that is somewhat competitive open for anyone to join.
Thoughts on my team would be appreciated

    DavidC · 18/03/2020 at 21:32

    Steven likely to miss R1.

    TOPHAWK1 · 18/03/2020 at 21:32

Nice GNR team Danners. Scratch Jack Steven. Will not play round 1. I am going with a more mid pricer team strategy in 2020. See my comments in the Shake and Bake post. Hope it helps. Good luck mate! TH

Johnny · 18/03/2020 at 20:26

Roberton vs Noble for D4 ??

    Pieman · 18/03/2020 at 20:27

    Roberton for me

    TOPHAWK1 · 18/03/2020 at 21:34

John Noble if you had to take one. Roberton is high risk with his heart condition.

Shake n bake · 18/03/2020 at 20:36

Macpherson or Greenwood ? I couldn't help Pieman out so hopefully uses can

Buggie · 18/03/2020 at 20:50

    DavidC · 18/03/2020 at 21:29

    Please don't yell.

    derek · 18/03/2020 at 21:35

i mentioned it once, but i thought i got away with it

Jess · 18/03/2020 at 20:57

If we indeed keep the 30 trades I am looking at going even more guns and rookies than ever before. Whats the point of going a team full of midpricers when all you will be doing is unsuccessfully shuffling your mids around. My thoughts are to start. My guns and rookies setup team hasnt changed.

Maverick_ · 18/03/2020 at 20:58

My prediction is dusty won’t play to his usual standard without a crowd.. I feel his one of those blokes that performs on the big stage and from the adrenaline.. no crowds no dusty for me

    buggie · 18/03/2020 at 21:06

    agreed fuels off crowd

    derek · 18/03/2020 at 21:36

    and Danger

      Maverick_ · 18/03/2020 at 21:42

Great point Derek.. yeo or gaff come back into consideration now to replace danger

    Maverick_ · 19/03/2020 at 13:55

Now SC have said impact players will score more than your accumulators I might need a reshuffle to give dusty a guernsey again the ultimate impact player can turn a game on its head in 15 minutes .

Maverick_ · 18/03/2020 at 21:07

So if there is short turn arounds between games I’m not sure sauce can back it up week in week out.. are people going to run ceglar in the fwd line as cover and a DPP R3?

I’m considering it but have to drop one of macpherson or petracca

    Flaccid Jaff · 18/03/2020 at 22:29

I'm thinking that flexibility and cover is worth so much!
I don't have macpherson or petracca, but deciding between brayshaw or ceglar, what you reckon?
I'm leaning towards ceglar seeing as my r2 is naismith

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 02:18

I reckon Xerri / Cherry and Cameron will play Mav, Cox is crud and won't hold his spot I think. Those 2 could cover.

Worpedo4Brownlow · 18/03/2020 at 21:11

If anyone’s got some thoughts on my team let me know, can’t stop fiddling! 13k in the bank.

Def: Sicily, Crisp, Roberton, Cummings, Zerk, Starcevich (Watson, Williams)
Mid: Neale, Kelly, Dangerfield, Bontempelli, Oliver, Rowell, Green, Pickett (Roberton, Mahony, Budarick)
Ruck: Grundy, English (Nyuon)
Fwd: Dusty, Greenwood, MacPherson, Petracca, Brayshaw, Brander (Rankine, Taylor)

    derek · 18/03/2020 at 21:49

Greenwood is a good footballer, but he isn't ever going to be a good SC scorer. he doesn't get enough of the footy. he is a contested ball player that should be great for SC, but he only gets it 16-17 times a game. he will do ok, but others have gone past him.

      Worpedo4Brownlow · 18/03/2020 at 21:56

I can see where you’re coming from, but at the same time he’s only ever been a part time player in the guts at Adelaide. Wouldn’t it make sense that a full time mid role equals a fair old boost?

Jes · 18/03/2020 at 21:18

We need the emergency podcast now.

Im telling people to calm down and stick with their gumd and rookies approaches, but so many people, including jock site are opting for midpricers. Yes, midprice trams will initally score better, but in the end they will be messes. All i can say is back your team in and trade aggressively

JEL · 18/03/2020 at 21:28

A few spots left in the Jock Straps (784516) .
Jump in if you like, prefer they get filled by JR folk.

JEL · 18/03/2020 at 21:38

— Each team will have 30 trades, with a maximum of two per round. This has not changed from previous years. This is based on a 17-round season and one round being played per week.

— Player prices will change after two rounds, rather than three.

— The size of 18 and 10-team leagues won’t be changed.

— The last four rounds of the home-and-away season — now set to be Rounds 14-17 — will be the KFC SuperCoach finals series.

— If a season is completed the $50,000 major prizes for both KFC SuperCoach and tips.com.au will be awarded as normal, plus runner-up prizes. Weekly prices will be awarded for any completed rounds.

— The 17-game fixture will not feature any byes, so special bye round rules (best-18 scoring) will not apply.

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 22:23

Cheers JEL, makes it kinda easy like afl fantasy with 30 trades still, wonder if they'll revise that?..no byes is great, finals at round 14 sucks though!

TOPHAWK1 · 18/03/2020 at 21:43

Game on! Patrick Cripps VC in Tophawks line up tomorrow night. Lets get on with it.

NoLanguage96 · 18/03/2020 at 22:18

Anyone got any leagues to join? Gotta fill the boots now that we're on!

derek · 18/03/2020 at 22:22

16 minute quarters instead of 20.

hmmmm…… 20% less time, but still the same 3,300 supercoach points.

my take on the reduced time

They are stuffed. less time, less goals kicked, less points for the goal kickers. You can take 20% off their score, Toby included.

There will be 20% less centre bounces (but it will be relative to everything else being 20% less). There may be an element of less stoppages because the players will be wanting to run more and open up play. There will be alot more play down the centre of the field therefore less throw ins. my gut feel is there will be a lot more than 20% less stoppages. They will be effected as well.

Less behinds, less kick ins. Otherwise, i don't see them being effected by anymore than the 20%

It will be a midfielders game. The fellas who get more of the ball, will get more points (overall everything will be rewarded with 20% of a score). They get more of everything and therefore will benefit the most. the 'big guns' won't need to rest as much, we will see the uber midfielders TOG increase, at the expense of the less midfielders

They are stuffed. Unless they are good, their TOG will be low. Less time on the ground to get points, the lower their score.

I haven't given in much thought, and not one spreadsheet has been used. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the effect of the shorter game.

Similar to the 666, deliberate out of bounds and other rule changes in years gone by, there is always a winner.

remember that SC scores are always scaled up to 3300.

Less game time will mean that every kick, goal, tackle etc will earn more points this year.

thanks fellas

Very nice analysis Derek. Is your thinking that Grawndy is not worth it? Perhaps one or maybe neither. If so, who are the best alternatives?

    Matt · 19/03/2020 at 07:41

Question, in leagues when our sides are locked in tonight can others see the rest of your side that has been picked? Or are the Richmond, Carlton players the only ones that can be seen?

Also latest team keen to hear any thoughts…

B – Lloyd, Daniel, Houston, Doc, Noble, Zerk (Watson, Gould)
M – Neale, Fyfe, Cripps, Bont, Cogs, Rowell, Green, Pickett (Starcevich, Robertson, Budarick)

Ando · 18/03/2020 at 22:25

Is Ceglar the no. 1 ruck at Hawthorn now? If so, is he a serious option in our FWD line?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 02:20

Ceglar, Big boy in defence, but that might not last, Patton backing up in the fwd line, Derek doesn't think Bigboy will last long in defence and will go back to Rucking.

      Ando · 19/03/2020 at 09:33

      Cheers Russty

Gibbs · 18/03/2020 at 22:27

with 30 Trades available, am I crazy in considering Quinton Narkle?
Wouldnt of considered him before, however good JLT, will likely take TK's role and was super in his 3 home and away games last year with a very high point per minute. Is he worth starting at M6 with the possibility of downgrading him if he doesn't perform? Have a few extra trades up our sleeves this year.

    Soothsayer · 18/03/2020 at 22:45

Interesting proposition, I wonder if he will.

Lee · 18/03/2020 at 22:40

The top teams have an easier fixture now so the lower teams have a harder fixture.

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 22:52

Where'd you see the updated fixtures?

Soothsayer · 18/03/2020 at 22:44

Has anyone considered Rampe? He seemed to finish very well after the pole climbing incident.

    NoLanguage96 · 18/03/2020 at 22:54

I did, so much quality around his price though

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 02:33

He'd be a great pod at 1% ownership if he could average 97 again, or higher.

Soothsayer · 18/03/2020 at 22:48

Also noone going for DeGoey?

    Russty_ · 18/03/2020 at 22:50

I started him last year , got spooked after he got tagged in his first game and then another low one, and traded him out, he did ok after that but not 90 +, he could score ok if he does get 50-50 mid fwd time but even though he got that in the marsh games he still didn't score too well.

    AuroraBorealis?! · 18/03/2020 at 23:39

I did consider him mate, likely to get a bit more mid time with more rotations in the team but hes just too injury prone for my liking

derek · 18/03/2020 at 22:51

Player prices will change after two rounds, rather than three

i assume the calculation method won't change?

Rocksta_ · 19/03/2020 at 04:58

Jack Steven not being named has had me up for hours reshuffling my team. Most people, I’m sure, just did a straight swap for Brayshaw, however I don’t quite know why but my team just doesn’t feel right with him in it.
Nevertheless, I reckon I’ve nailed it now ( minus Steven and Brayshaw). You need to go with your gut in this game I reckon.

Steeeve · 19/03/2020 at 07:20

With prices to change after two rounds does that mean calculations are only for the past two rounds all season? If so one good game from a rookie will only net you a couple weeks of price gain, rather than three. We'll need to use our extra trades to ensure we get the most consistently good scoring rookies. A 90 followed by a 30 just won't cut it.

Ando · 19/03/2020 at 09:42

I know it's been mentioned before, but do we think no crowds will affect Dusty? He seems like the kind of guy that thrives on the atmosphere created by the crowd.

    Holty01 · 19/03/2020 at 12:20

I think it’s the opposite. He hates the attention so potentially could be even better

      Ando · 19/03/2020 at 12:50

Hmmmm, interesting. Going without too risky you think?

        Holty01 · 19/03/2020 at 12:54

So much uncertainty in the forward line. He is 1 of only 2 who I have faith in being top 6 forward

The Ranger · 19/03/2020 at 10:45

Strange times call for strange Supercoach teams…

Houston, Crisp, Doc, Roberton, Noble, BZerk – Watson, Williams
Macrae, Neale, TMitch, Bont, Dusty, Rowell, Green, Pickett – Robertson, Rivers, Mahoney
Grundy, English – Cameron
Greenwood, MacPherson, Petracca, Brayshaw, Smith, Brander – Budarick, King

    The G Train · 19/03/2020 at 15:52

Very strange times, im going heavy on the mid pricers and mature bodies like yourself, don't feel rookies will get enough opportunities or TOG to generate much cash and currently only have 3 genuine rooks starting on the field. Crisp burnt me last year but i'm praying CD are a bit more generous with his points this year as I have downgraded Lloyd to him. Not sold on T Mitch especially since SC have said they're rewarding impact players rather than accumulators.

Benno · 19/03/2020 at 12:04

After the communities help here. Is anyone having the following issues with a draft league settings:
(1) waivers not clearing (set for 24 hours)?
(2) no match up data?

JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 12:42

Couple of leagues if anyone would like to join. JR Community632844 and Any Gibbon Sundae 888471. Been playing since 2006 and consistently in top 1%. Would love to play against this community. All welcome.
Conversely, does anyone have any available leagues. Have one more I need to join. Cheers. Jess

JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 12:54

Thoughts on team. Killed it yesterday. Indulged in mid price panic buying. Then corrected.

Zac Bailey? Everyone at Lions has been talking him up all pre season, Looked good in Mitch Marsh. yet to see him in any teams.Thoughts?
Jacobs and Naismith will make heaps of coin, and mitigate risk of picking either. Again, both look bargain picks. ???
Shorter games and less rounds seem to suit TITCH. Is this the case?

Def : Sic, Doc, Z.Bailey, Robbo, Noble, Bezerk, (Brander,Williams)
Mid : Neale, Jelly, Crippler, Dunks, Titch, Rowell, Green, Pickett, (Anyone who gets picked)
Rucks : R1Grundy, R2 Jacobs, D2 Naismith(I know, a lot of coin on bench, but this year need ruck backup with short turnarounds)
Fwd : Whitfield, Clacca, Lynch, Brayshaw, Smiddy, Taylor (Budda, King)

    Holty01 · 19/03/2020 at 13:08

Do you think Bailey is a keeper? Only reason I ask Is it’s a lot of money you are paying for someone who you will probably be trading out and not making much money.

      Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 14:01

With almost unlimited trades and no byes Holty it could be an opportunity to trial guys like that..and then dump em for someone in form if they don't work out.

        The Ranger · 19/03/2020 at 14:20

I think that's the way I'm going Russty, trade hard and trade early. Pyanamese style.
We might only get a 10 round season in, I don't wanna be stuck with rookies.

      JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 15:19

Stepping stone. Should av 75ish to make me 100-150k. Defense seems to offer up cheap premos every year, hence why ive gone cheaper on that line.

Red5 · 19/03/2020 at 13:01

MacPherson or Petracca,

    Holty01 · 19/03/2020 at 13:04

i really don’t like either but with lack of forward rookies, I’ve settled on Petracca

    The Ranger · 19/03/2020 at 14:22

    JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 15:23

Petracca. Iv'e got him. flirted with Macpherson, but Gold Coast will be flogged. Especially as the don't have luxury of playing weaker teams twice. He is a decent pick. Low CBAs and will watch the ball flying over his head. Petracca will play at least 50/50 mid time. Slight inconsistency, although Tracca should avg at least 90-100 for me. This is the year to chase value. Especially up front

Ando · 19/03/2020 at 13:09

Who are we looping guys? Dusty? Macrae? Grundy? Other?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 14:00

Cripps into Grundy for me if Cripps is still in my team at bouncedown lol

      JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 15:30

Great minds. Got Cripps into Grundy myself

      Ando · 19/03/2020 at 16:24

Good shout! Obviously believe Grundy will monster English?

Nick · 19/03/2020 at 13:32

Greene or Parish community?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 13:59

Greene if he behaves himself Nick, more reliable, Parish could breakout though, both a bit risky imo

      Nick · 19/03/2020 at 14:25

already have whitfield dusty, smith n MacPherson Russty

        Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 15:16

Solid fwd line Nick, both are decent options I guess, might not be much diff in their scoring this year

    JesterJess · 19/03/2020 at 15:28

Greene. Shorter quarters will benefit impact players. Injury risk/flog factor main risk with him. Parish I'm not sold on. Last years winner is big on him. Both decent picks, but if I had to choose, I'd go Greene.

Blueprime · 19/03/2020 at 14:45

Wonder what recent events will do to Brownlow odds?

Stevo · 19/03/2020 at 15:04

Why is jake lloyd not getting any love this year?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 15:15

I think people are looking for better value across all lines stevo

      Stevo · 19/03/2020 at 15:25

Which is understandable, but he averaged 117 going into his bye round as a defender. On top of that everyone seems to have laird who is less than 70k cheaper and only hit the tonne 8 times last year and averaged only 96. I'd have thought that the extra 66k would be worth it for that quality.

        Russty_ · 19/03/2020 at 15:31

Yeah you're right, but I think people are betting Laird will bounce back with a 100 average again, especially with Brodie Smith moving into the midfield this season.

Noble & Gawn?

Shake n bake · 19/03/2020 at 16:20

B – Laird, Docherty, Roberton, Zerk, Starcevich, Brander (Watson, Gould)
M – Neale, Fyfe, Cripps, Macrea, Cogs, Narkle, Rowell, Green (Mead, Pickett, Budarick)
R – Grundy, Gawn (Cameron)
F – Whitfield, Macpherson, Brayshaw, Smith, Rankine, Taylor (Comben, King)

4k left should I get rid of Gawn to Jacobs and upgrade somewhere else or just leave it
