Is this the perfect SuperCoach team?
Happy new Supercoach peeps!
Yep SC is open for 2020.
BBL helped to partially fill the void but is a poor second cousin compared to the real thing.
Not sure how many of you have been playing along at home but the Phantom has completed a review of every team over summer and has listed each player accordingly in a Supercoach form guide in order of significance for 2020.
So I thought it would be a bit of fun to see what a team would look like if you took each selection made by the Phantom for each team in order of SC significance.
Refer below for the top 3 for each team.
So here we go.
I have called the team the Phantom Menace.
If we pick up the phantom’s first selection for each team this is what it looks like. The only exception is I have not put in Todd Goldstein as Brodie Grundy and Max Gawn are on field so it would be waste to have Todd sitting at R3 on the bench. So I moved down to the next selection for North which is Aiden Bonar.
I know a couple of guys are under an injury cloud but in this exercise they form part of the team purely based on supercoach significance for 2020. As you can see the top pick from each team uses $8.2M of the $10M salary cap. But powerful ruck and midfield and value picks in the forward line and defence with the ruck and forward line already filled on field.
Not a bad looking team huh?
Good way to get around the byes with is a selction from the 18 teams?
Now it gets a little tricky as we only have $1.8M to play with and have 12 spots to fill.
So I have added any cheaper options with the Phantoms second pick for each team as to add Cripps or Danger in the midfield for example would blow the salary cap.
So out of second selections there are 3 spots in defence so in comes Dylan Roberson and Stephen Hill. 1 spot left on ground in the midfield which is filled by Matt Rowell and Miles Bergan takes the first bench spot in the forward line.
This now leave one spot in defence and the benches with just over $1M remaining.
So now we apply the same principle as above based on the Phantom’s 3rd pick for each team. Selecting players who can fit in the remaining salary cap.
The final spot on field is filled by Hayden Young with Will Gould filling one of the spots on the bench. Hibberd and Cockatoo fill two of the midfield bench spots with cockatoo creating a DPP with the forward line and Pickett fills the final spot on the forward bench.
This leaves 3 bench spots but only $330k remaining salary cap. As rookies are at least $118k this doesn’t leave enough cash to realistically fill the remaining spots.
So I have swapped Pickett to Max King to fill the rest of the team. These rookies may change depending on selection for Round 1.
So behold the finished product with a lazy $4,900 left!
So after all that you have a pretty impressive looking team there Mr Phantom!
I may even run with this one myself to see how it pans out over the season though Titch is looking unlikely to play round 1.
What do you reckon community should I run with the team above?
