GRAND BLOODY FINAL!!

By TRIGGA HAPPY.

It’s here! After 23 rounds of pulsating footy and 3 finals we have final reached the Holy Grail. The grand final, it is what every AFL footballer aspires to and thanks to the Happy Ending keen super coachers can participate in. You only have to listen to Fyfe is life on Monday night who collected his second Brownlow (kudos by the way) to see how much playing on that last Saturday in September means to these blokes, it is not given it is earnt.

Two teams have earnt the right to fight it out for to be the best of the best for season 2019. Some may argue that GWS hasn’t really earnt the right but they have played off in 4 prelims before this one and lost two of those by less than a kick. Yep they have earnt it that is for sure.

Wasn’t that a pulsating game of footy! Could have really gone either way as GWS hung on for dear life as Collingwood threw everything but the kitchen sink at them, big Mummy might give away a few frees but he was enormous in that last 5 minutes even having time to borke around the Collingwood captain. Grundy gave his mids first class service all day but they just couldn’t capitalise on his dominance. It did however earn him a very tidy 150 supercoach points.

In the other game on Friday night it was a game of two halves. The cats definitely played the better footy first half, chopping and changing and constantly finding a way through the tigers defence. Mental note GWS (this worked and may work again on Sat arvo). But the Tiges are a four quarter team and despite being down at half time they started to play Chaos footy and the Lynchpin grabbed everything within a 10m radius. At one stage I saw him resting in the forward line deep in thought thinking I could be surfing in Bali if I was still playing for the suns.

Awards:

Happy camper – Toby Green

Unhappy Camper – Nathan Buckley & Jack Graham

Onto the SC Finals.

Round 3 saw the magnificent specimen that is Lekdog leading the pack with a great score of 1,579. Scorpions and Pizza were tied for equal 2nd on 1529. Grundy was a popular captain choice but no one had the lynchpin who was ultimately the difference between the two sides. Gonna burn Tommahawk all summer.

Somehow ol’ Trigga Happy is leading all comers after 3 rounds with a total score of 4,570. This may mean two things. Knows abit about this supercoach caper and had some luck. So a little from column A and a little from column B. My philosophy is no point doing something unless you do it properly. But holt is only 15 points behind with pizza, the flukes and the defending champ Shake n Bake rounding out the top 5.

If you like a wager I’d put my hard earned on Shake.

Changes:
Blank canvas. Start again. (Every Week)
•No salary cap! That’s right you can pick whoever you like without breaking the bank as there is no bank as long as it is within the rules as set out below.
• Can’t have the same captain each week. No vice captain.
•No Bench

Rules:

I don’t think it is necessary to post all the rules again as you guys get the general idea of how it all operates. Right? If not please refer back to the previous article which states all the rules.

Grand Final: (From 2 Teams participating – Maximum of 5 players from each team):
•10 Players consisting of:
o2 Back
o5 Midfield
o1 Ruck
o2 Forwards

There was a suggestion that we maybe go with 12 players.

Happy to create an extra forward and defence line if that is what the community wants but I feel 5 from each team is about right.

As there are 4 finals the captain must be selected from the 4 areas of the ground over the final series. So from a mid, fwd, back and ruck over the 4 weeks of the finals. This means you need to pick your captain from the one spot on the ground that you haven’t used as a captain this week.

Norm Smith.

Think you are too far behind and can’t catch the leaders?

Well think again, even if you are over 100 points off the pace you can still win this thing by picking the right captain and selecting the Norm Smith medallist for the player deemed to be best on ground in the Grand Final.

It’s that simple.

I have added a line under the Captain for a Norm Smith selection. This is the light blue highlight. All you have to do is select who you believe will win the Norm Smith medal and if you are correct you will get their supercoach points added to your total score!

Follow the example under my team if you get stuck,

Team Selection.

All teams must be entered into the spreadsheet via the link below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lbznaGZAaT3nuqqUQl8XTgs37zsBSATJqUlozENUpYI/edit?usp=sharing

Teams must be complete before the first bounce on Grand Final day. Teams are locked in after this time.

Teams are in the same order so please fill in your team from the same spot as last time as I have linked the teams to the scores sheet.

Once again good luck to all and don’t forget to add Normie!

Gone to my happy place. Be back in a few……

Damn, this is the first I'm hearing of this comp! Is it too late to join now, if only to compete for the highest weekly score? (And because I'm a SuperCoach tragic…)

Happy grand final day. Should be a good game!

    Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 14:21

Who ya going for Pizza?…I'm barracking for the big big sound, it'd be a good story.

      SamuraiPizzaCat · 28/09/2019 at 17:12

Hey Russty, I was going for GWS, what a disappointing game from them!

        Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 17:23

Terrible effort mate, just awful and embarrassing for them.

Lekdog · 28/09/2019 at 12:32

Team is in! Thanks for running this Trigg, we love you!

NDD · 28/09/2019 at 12:54

    Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 13:52

Agree Neil, much appreciated Trigga all your efforts to run this again! :)..and to Lek and the lads for a great year on the site.
Hope it's a good hard fought close game today lads!

Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 15:36

Williams and Greene spudding it up, looking like a fizzer of a GF at half time.

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 28/09/2019 at 15:38

Be a miracle to be the close one like we were hoping for. 🙄

      Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 15:52

It'd be an all time win if they could make a game of it from here, hopefully the Coach's half time spray will knock a few of their blokes out of loser mode.

    gator59 · 28/09/2019 at 15:40

Sainters would even put up a better fight than this Russty

      Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 15:54

Yeah reckon you're right Col, bloody disappointing so far, on top of the usual blurry standard definition channel 7 coverage!

      NDD · 28/09/2019 at 16:04

and the dees gat wifey would be happy, mines not over last week still

        gator59 · 28/09/2019 at 19:34

The Mrs is over the moon .. I'll have to put up with it for another 12 bloody months

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 28/09/2019 at 15:45

YELLOW AND WHACK WITH ORANGE SPLATTER AY THE MOMENT…..

    Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 15:55

It's a big big sound as the turds hit the ground, it's the sound of the mighty…shiteants.

      NDD · 28/09/2019 at 16:07

not over yet by a long way

        Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 16:09

Think it might be mate, Tigers should stomp them into dust from here.

00P_s · 28/09/2019 at 16:16

Worst GF ever. 🙁

    Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 16:22

Imagine if you'd paid top dollar for the best tickets, airfare, accommodation, food, car hire, merchandise, and then your Giants deliver this shite….lol
Hopefully the Giants don't ever make another Grand Final !

      00P_s · 28/09/2019 at 17:12

A lot of very ordinary performances from the giants superstars. Pitiful effort from the entire team who seem to share a single heart among the 22 They wont get another chance until after the Lions, Saints, Blues and Demons

      00P_s · 28/09/2019 at 17:16

Unbelievable! The AFL auto sent a Tigers Premiership merchandise email at the exact same time that the siren sounded. NOT a congratulations Tigers email but a BUY SOME STUFF email. I'm suprised that they didn't offer a couple of free bets on who'll be the next wiggle for the kids as well

      00P_s · 28/09/2019 at 17:18

OOPs My bad. It was Rupert 'Monty Burns' Murdoch who sent that email I reckon that all supercoaches got it.

        Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 17:24

I'm cancelling my Foxtel for next year, they have Fox Footy but still can't even secure the rights to the Grand Final in HD?…bugger that…and it's a ripoff.
I'll get that Kayo thing if I really want to see all the games.

          00P_s · 28/09/2019 at 18:35

That's a good plan mate. I did the same thing this year. heaps of games on free to air and if the one I wanted to watch wasn't I got kayo for a month. I ended up spending about $40

      NDD · 28/09/2019 at 17:29

it was embarassing Russty Collingwood would have done better

Russty_ · 28/09/2019 at 16:29

Kinda spewing Pickett got a game today, for supercoach I mean, means he could be close to 200k or more next year does it?

    Sabsy · 29/09/2019 at 18:17

Prices are only ever effected by scores during the home and away season, so the finals are a free pass in this regard. He'll still be rookie-priced next year, although slightly more expensive at $123K or thereabouts.

      Russty_ · 29/09/2019 at 20:52

Ah ok cheers Sabsy, good to know mate. He'd have to be first picked rook next season ay

        Sabsy · 29/09/2019 at 22:49

No drama, always happy to pass on knowledge to the community, big or small. I just saw an article on Herald Sun that confirmed his 2020 price will be rookie-level so it's officially-official now. They also said his position is unlikely to change (which is backed up by the fact he played midfield in the VFL) but provided he plays round 1 I imagine he'd get "picked" in ANY position!

NDD · 28/09/2019 at 16:34

twin rucks and two tall forwards have worked a treat The Saints with Ryder and Marshall may yet dominate At their best both can dominate

    gator59 · 28/09/2019 at 19:37

We'll put them to the test now Neil

NDD · 29/09/2019 at 12:16

Congrats to the Tiges and their supporters ,by far the best in the comp and the field has a lot to make up..

    Russty_ · 29/09/2019 at 20:54

Hey Neil, was a pretty Juggernaut like performance from the Tiges in the second half of the season, much stronger now too with the likes of Lynch. Prestia and Pickett for next year.

      NDD · 29/09/2019 at 22:47

Yes RUST and our teams continue to recruits Kemts instead of Lynch's. Recruiting is the answer and both Melb and saints have been ordinary of late. Ryder will be good and a fit Hanna might turn it around. Jack Grimes said forget last year the dees are better and with no injury niggles to start will help. They will get Elliot and Tomlinson both good ordinary players not lynchs

Russty_ · 29/09/2019 at 20:51

I wonder who won it all?…how are them scores coming along Mr Trig? 😉

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 29/09/2019 at 23:06

Sorry crew had a long weekend down the beach.

Scores have been updated for the final time.

DBB superb this week, didnt pick Normie but still had the highest score for the GF of 1146 from 10 players! Houli dooly nice capt pick. <img draggable="false" class="emoji" alt="😉" src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/12.0.0-1/svg/1f609.svg">

Couple of teams picked ol Normie dusty.

Well done.

Will send out a final wrap mid week.

Thanks for playing.

    Russty_ · 30/09/2019 at 13:04

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend Trig, bad luck getting pipped at the post by Flukes, not such flukes after all! lol, cheers for running this again, mediocre result for me again this year but it was still much fun, cheers mate.

      TRIGGA_HAPPY · 30/09/2019 at 14:15

      Unlucky for some eh?

    dontblushbaby · 30/09/2019 at 19:04

Thanks Trig for organising this again , YELLOW n BLACK !

NDD · 30/09/2019 at 18:03

Congrats FLUKES and tough TRIGG great effort and a close finish unlike the real one .Thanks again Trigg

00P_s · 02/10/2019 at 21:30

Urgh I couldn't even win 1st loser 🙁

    Russty_ · 04/10/2019 at 20:30

Don't worry about it mate we're all losers unless we win the 50 grand haha, what matters is if you enjoy the playing of the game for the 6 months, I always lose interest towards the end of the year after the Supercoach finals, it's such a long season.
Got some big changes going on in my life coming up, don't know if I'll be around much next year…but I'll try to be dropping in occasionally…if time permits.

      NDD · 04/10/2019 at 21:38

Bet you can't resist Russty, Coaches like yourself Gator and Derek have all the knowledge to do what Daz Holty Finn etc did this year /All we need is a better structure with byes and trades ,heaps of luck and the best starting team. Stick with it and enjoy it Russty

        Russty_ · 05/10/2019 at 16:06

I'll still play mate but will probably be around a fair bit less, wish I was as good as any of those guys, just can't seem to get it right most years lol, won't have time for the BBL this year either.

00P_s · 02/10/2019 at 21:40

A better subject is the waking giant in Melbourne's Sth East. Beware the Saints in 2020 and expect a couple of suprises during the trade period and at the draft because the Saints coach is as cunning as a Rat.
For 2020 he's already stacked the fwds and got another experienced running machine in the middle but, its the quiet deals that he's doing with the Hawks and Blues that will put the Saints into 2020 finals contention.
Demons and suns to battle for the spoon

    NDD · 03/10/2019 at 07:17

hey enough of that oops Dees for the flag more like it.,You are right though ,the saints are my tip to do a lions next year,They seem to have it right with Ratts just wash your mouth out oops NDD

    Russty_ · 03/10/2019 at 19:51

It'd be nice to see Mr Oops, after 9 years in the wilderness, back in the day when we were contenders, our main strengths were our defensive pressure, which is what got us into 2 Grand Finals, but we had the likes of Nicky Dal, Joey Montagna and Sir Nick Riewoldt back then.
The problem we had even then was our accuracy, which lost us both those Grand Finals.
That problem still remains…no one there can seem to kick Goals with any consistent accuracy.
Happy to be rid of Steven, think he might be a problem for whoever takes him on …the Cats or whoever.
Hanners needs to repay the faith next year, hope he can for the money we spent.
Not sure if the Saints can become genuine contenders again until they get some real stars into the team who aren't getting old….it's been awhile since we had more than 3 or 4 A- Grade players.
