SuperCoach Panic Room: Grand Final edition
Here we go, community! We’re just hours away from the final rolling lockout of the season. If you’re in a grand final, congratulations! The winner will be showered with praise. The loser will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore! Patch, bless his cotton socks, has Homer Simpson’d his way to the Inner Sanctum league GF where he will get absolutely crushed by Chicko. It’s going to be awesome!
The podcast this week put a bow on the 2019 season as Lek and Patch were joined by Damo, Baz, and Foz to talk all things finals and what 2020 has in store for us. Baz wrapped his 2020 preview by looking at the rookies prospects of Sydney, West Coast, and the Western Bulldogs. Damo, professional until the end, gave his all important captaincy options for this week. And, of course, Matty has put to rest the curse of the cheat sheet writer by delivering yet another week of cheat sheety goodness.
A fair warning to all the ball-havers amongst us, the following will make you make you want to hold close the ones you love. Steele Sidebottom is out tonight (again, I’m warning you) with a ruptured testicle. A. Ruptured. Testicle. Reports filtering through claim old mate copped a stray boot to the jatz crackers that has split the nut (no confirmation whether if it’s the left or right nut) right down the seam, turned the two veg into three, taken a chip off the family jewels… you get my drift. God’s speed for your recovery, Steele. RIP. Darcy Moore, he of the correct amount of nuts and a repaired hamstring, is his replacement. Essendon are also feeling the “injury” (read: rested because finals are confirmed) heat, with all of Dyson Heppell, David Zaharakis, Jake Stringer, and Orazio Fantasia all out with various “injuries” and “ailments”. Tom Bellchambers and new boy Tom Jok (MID – 117.4k) are amongst the ins.
Elsewhere, Buddy makes his return and will play his 300th game against the Saints. Sam Rowe will make his club debut in that one. Brayden Preuss returns for the Dees to help out Maxy with his battle against the red-hot Goldmember (FYI – there’s rumblings Maxy could sit this one out). Popular bench rookie Kyle Dunkley has been omitted. The Cats have a ruckman again with Rhys Stanley fit to play against the Kreuzer-led Carlton. Roughie has hung up the boots for the Hawks and Jack Scrimshaw returns to play his first game since round 10. It just wouldn’t be a SuperCoach grand final without some sort of Toby Greene tomfoolery. He’s been in impervious form in the absence of GWS top line mids, however he is out of the clash against Gold Coast. Some tall units in the form of the two Jeremy’s (Cameron and Finlayson) and Shane Mumford return.
On Sunday, not much happening on the team sheets of either the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide. Callum Porter (MID – 123.9k) the only addition so far. Tim English has been confirmed to return. Richmond will welcome back captain Trent Cotchin, again no confirmed outs as yet. Jake Aarts (106.9k) has again been named in the extended squad. Brisbane have also been pretty quiet with Allen Christensen being a forced change due to injury. The coach-less Fremantle have added 6 names to their squad, ruck Scott Jones and Brett Bewley among them. Anyone still hanging onto Scott Lycett will be crossing their fingers and toes that he’s served his penance for whatever he did. He’s been named to lead the ruck for the Power.
Smooth Kevy’s Lock of the Week
If you’ve got a settled side and a trade in the bank, you’ve done bloody well. There’s absolutely no shame in holding onto that trade through the weekend in case there’s a rouge late out and you get caught with your pants down. You’ll be kicking yourself if you trade now when you didn’t need to. If you feel like rolling the dice, Statty Matty has put together a huge 20 options with more stats on their recent performance you can poke a stat-filled stick at. Check it out here.
Hey Now, You’re a Draftstar
I just couldn’t let my final Draftstars write up for the year not involve my beloved Tigers. I’ll be back tomorrow (or later tonight if it’s still raining in England) with a Richmond v Brisbane preview.
That’s me done for the year, folks. It has been a great ride. See ya in 2020 xoxo
