PODCAST | A Big Party for the Big Dance

Published by Patch on

This is it. It’s grand final week, where 12 months of hard work, 12 months of blood, sweat and tears all pays off. This is where you claim victory and prove your worth as king of the office, the sultan of the site, the ruler of the schoolyard… or something.

So, for the biggest occasion of the year, Lek and Patch have assembled the big guns. Damo’s here, all the way from Perth. Bazza’s here, tuning in from Adelaide. The great Fozdaddy lends an ear and some words of advice as we whizz around and get the low-down on what to use your final trades on, if Gawn to Goldstein is viable, who, what, where, when and why you should trade out some of these useless blokes.

We wrap up our lessons from the season and also have a very quick look ahead to 2020. For everyone who’s tuned in all year – bless your cotton socks, we love you all. We’ll be here over the next little while to wrap up the season and to lay the groundwork for the 2020 preseason, but until then – best of luck in your grand finals community!

Anyone need a trade still got 3 of them lol

    Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 22:40

Hi JA, I'll take 2 and any spare money you have lol.

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:41

    u wot

The Ranger · 20/08/2019 at 11:46

Big thanks to Patch, Lek, Damo, Kev, Barron. Matty and everyone else who's kept the sight up and running.
Bloody great effort, good onya.

I've scraped into two Minor finals and have two trades left to spend…
Both of the teams I play against have Dunkley and I still don't, do I bring him in for Hawkins? Or Sloane?
I'd love to finally ditch Witherden and get Hurn but I figure Dunkley could be the one to ruin me so I'm better to cover him off.

    left field option · 20/08/2019 at 11:58

Dunks a must if you can.

    SC_Kev7 · 20/08/2019 at 12:29

Cheers, Ranger! Flick Sloane for Dunks I reckon. Hawkins should do what he wants against Carlton's backline.

      The Ranger · 20/08/2019 at 17:25

Yeah I'm leaning that way. Hawkins is due a bag.

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:42

    Much love to you mate.

Agreed with the others, Dunks a much and Sloane the fall guy for mine

Shake_n_bake · 20/08/2019 at 12:52

Ill miss our conversation when you come to Melbourne Ross.

    Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 22:40

Another one bites the dust!…can't say I'm all that upset about it.

KeenButClueless · 20/08/2019 at 14:54

Good luck to all with their grand finals and push for ranking this week. Horrible year for me 30k ranking, no GF’s and way short of premium side. I have already set up my 2020 spreadsheet, calculated starting prices and put three versions of teams down. So, I have decided I am clearly over invested in SC, without the results that might justify such obsession. Will take a break and try to detox from SC, at least until the new year.

Thanks to the team for keeping the site going, and the contributions of everyone that keep me coming back.

    Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 17:13

Hey Keen, well done battling the year out, doesn't always go your way for sure, it's been a rollercoaster this year with many ups and downs, make sure you get in on Trigga's post season finals game, that's still a bit of fun and extends the season a bit.
    Cheers mate.

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:44

All we can do sometimes mate – you just have those years. I had one, Lek had one, Damo had one. Sometimes there's nothing you can do but hope for next year.

Sabsy · 20/08/2019 at 17:39

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news fellas but Matty Flynn did his ACL in July, so he won't be a SuperCoach option next year. Maybe a late season downgrade at best?

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:46

Damn you and your facts, Sabsy! At least Nick Haynes (who's off the list now) was discovered post-recording!

allmobitools · 20/08/2019 at 19:58

nice post and really impressive blog.am glad to read this post.you are doing good work.your biscuits looks tasty really nice and easy recipe keep it up.

    Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 22:00

Just say no to drugs botty boy.

gvaa1 · 20/08/2019 at 22:00

great info, thanks <img src="https://s04.flagcounter.com/mini/Jkzv/bg_FFFFFF/txt_DEDEDE/border_FFFFFF/flags_0/" width="1"/>

Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 22:38

AFL.com.au says Gawny is right to go for this week, go the Beard!

    Browncow · 20/08/2019 at 23:23

Good news Russty! Not sure Callum Coleman-Jones will get a game for the in form Tiges or the tradeless Cows.

      Russty_ · 20/08/2019 at 23:31

Yeah very good news Brown…Don't think Bines would get a game either, although he still might be better than Hickey even with a hernia.

Holty01 · 21/08/2019 at 07:29

As Ranger said above, big shout out to everyone involved with this site. The articles and PODs have been very entertaining. Been a far more enjoyable year then last as well with all the issues seemingly disappearing.
Good luck to all playing finals this weekend and those who have struggled this year, try and learn from mistakes you made and better luck next year.

    Russty_ · 21/08/2019 at 13:13

Well said Holty and I agree kudos to all the lads running things around here, it's been a fun year without the drama caused by certain egomaniacs thankfully gone by the looks.
Well done to you too bud having a strong year and with all your advice in the forums.

      Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:47

      <3 <3 <3 love you all

wish we'd had more time to spend in the comments but that's one of my personal aims for 2020. We'll be back, don't you worry about that. Thanks to you legends – and all the others – for popping up in each and every thread.

        Holty01 · 22/08/2019 at 17:31

We understand you all have full time jobs and struggle to find time to respond all the time. I think I speak for many when I say ‘we are just all very appreciative that you, Lek and others have managed to keep this wonderful site going as well as still finding the time to do your weekly pods and entertaining articles.’ Look forward to next season and many to come.

        Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 19:27

Nice work this year Patch, well done recovering from a tumultuous start to the season..Statty Matty has been a nice addition to the team and I have enjoyed his articles and contributions this year.
Thanks for keeping it all rolling along and hope you guys are profiting a bit more out of it these days with all the new ads etc ……..
and getting something back for your time, no one expects anyone to work for free!
Can't wait for next year to start…this year has been a learning experience to say the least, mistakes made seem to be more glaring than in years past, I'll be adopting a different strategy next time around…..cheers.

    Lekdog · 28/08/2019 at 12:31

    Love you Holty

Paul · 21/08/2019 at 08:10

Is it guaranteed do we think that Max plays? Or the fact that it’s a dead rubber, in Tassie, last round that it’s not worth the risk. Also Preussys statline in the 2s might warrant a crack at his old team?

    Brn · 22/08/2019 at 15:33

Think both gawn and melbourne would want to play it out,

Nozzy · 21/08/2019 at 09:44

Worth trading out Sloane??

    Holty01 · 21/08/2019 at 10:26

I recon he could go big this weekend. Will have no one paying him attention.

    Russty_ · 21/08/2019 at 13:25

If it was to say Dusty I'd say yes do it, Dusty's 3 round average is almost 125, Sloane's is 81

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:49

If you've got the trade he'd be on the block, absolutely

Done and Dustied · 21/08/2019 at 10:05

There are many more people watching and reading the comments than the usual ones writing them, I have been one of the watchers and readers and I want to say thankyou to all involved with the site for the entertaining opinions and the effort and time spent by those contributing to this site. You have all helped me to make 2 out of 4 grand finals and ranked in the 6000s. I am very happy with my team with full premo and Rocky on the bench with 1 trade left. May need to use it on Gawn if he doesn't get up. Best of luck to everyone left fighting out for bragging rights for the year.

    Holty01 · 21/08/2019 at 10:24

    Well said

    Russty_ · 21/08/2019 at 13:26

Well done Dustied, glad you had a successful year, get into the comments yourself a bit more next year mate.

    Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:48

You're a gem, mate – best of luck for the grannies!

Shake_n_bake · 21/08/2019 at 15:28

2 trades left I’m 1 hoping Gawn doesn’t get up! My other trade im looking at is Greene in against GC 🤔. Good luck to all other grand finalists minor & major.

neil demons delight · 21/08/2019 at 18:53

Good luck to all the grand finalist this week and kudos to lads that made this site great again . Amazing what can be achieved without the rubbish in the forum NDD

Patch · 21/08/2019 at 23:49

You're all beautiful humans – all of youse in the comments and youse contributors. Bless your cotton socks

Mick · 22/08/2019 at 11:51

Thanks lads for all your work this year. I'm in 3 GF's from 3 leagues this year. No doubt all the articles and advice have played a huge part.

JPFactor · 22/08/2019 at 15:16

Thanks fellas for keeping me entertained another footy season through the dark, depths of winter… See you in 2020!

Brn · 22/08/2019 at 15:30

Thanks everyone for a great year. Its been an honour to contribute to this page, and the advice ive received has been a blessing. We have all been united by our love of sc. Should finish in top 50 overall, and like everyone have made some mistakes. Love you all catch next year

    Brn · 22/08/2019 at 15:36

Also, a big thanks to lekdog – he is a god in my eyes.

I'll admit i pretty much copied his starting lineup a few years back and nearly won overall.

Once again everyone, thanks for having me this year

    Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 17:22

Great year Brn…top 50 is epic, got any trades left this week to make a final big move or 2?

Brn · 22/08/2019 at 16:19

Meatloaf to sing at grand final please

    Russty_ · 23/08/2019 at 18:01

Maybe if it was the 1978 grand Final lol

Dan · 22/08/2019 at 17:35

I'm going to join in the love…a huge thanks to everyone involved in the site and also to all who have spent time contributing. I've really enjoyed listening to the PODs, reading the articles, and joining in the comments as I've been able to, it has made SC a whole lot more fun!
All the best to those in GF's this week and I look forward to seeing you next year.

    Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 19:19

Onya Dan, thanks for your contributions this year, maybe make an account for yourself on intense debate next year..secure your own unique name, cheers bud.

      Dan · 23/08/2019 at 07:28

Thanks Russty. Yeah, I'm planning on doing that.

Derek · 22/08/2019 at 18:36

wow. what a finish.

a final that lived up to all the hype. in many ways it even eclipsed the Lions v cats and the tigers v eagles matches on the weekend.

everywhere you looked was quality.

Greendale FC had shown some flashes of brilliance during the season but was going to need a bit of luck in the final. unfortunately lady luck deserted him in the form of Tom Hawkins and Matt Crouch, so had to settle for 3rd place. great effort.

On paper there was nothing separating yucky and Kezzam. between them they had a strangle hold on the immunity necklace during the run home and it was always going to be a tough final from two teams ranked well inside the top 1000.

As you would expect, there wasn't many POD players, so the result was going to come down to touch of class or a brave captain's choice.

In the end it was Kezzam (2443) armed with Yeo & Worpel in their team was just too good for yucky (2435) who stuck with JKelly and the Bont. 9 points was all that separated these two great teams, on any other day it may have been a different result.

thankyou to all 127 who started and i look forward to running it again next year.

    Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 18:50

Nice effort Derek, well done to all the teams who got to the pointy end, what a close finish….awesome.

    neil demons delight · 22/08/2019 at 19:03

Huge congrats to our champ KEZZAM and our two runners up,What a finish Worthy of such a great concept that will only grow ,great job Derek and a big thank you. BIG shout out to HOLTY and SHAKE playing for the premiership in my league A GRADERS Good luck boys ,also playing in mag 7,and also a huge shout out to our regular stalwart in the forum RUSSTY who has managed a match up with PATCH in Triggs comp ,great effort Russty with limited resourses Cheering all you guys on big effort boys Cheers NDD

      Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 19:17

Thanks mate, it's gonna be a close one between me and Patchyboy…I haven't had any trades since week 1 of finals so it'd be nice to win 1 since I lost 6 last week.

      Holty01 · 23/08/2019 at 06:41

Hi Neil. Is the A Graders the money league? Just getting confused as I paid the money to Derek and thought it was his league.

        neil demons delight · 23/08/2019 at 11:43

no mate that's mine dereks is separate

          Derek · 23/08/2019 at 12:55

the JR Cash league is separate.

There were two close preliminary finals this week.

Such is Fyfe (2386) beat One Touch Wonders (2366)

Finnius flyers (2314) beat Scaries VIII (2302)

good luck to the two Grand Finalists,

          Winner take all the cash.

            Holty01 · 23/08/2019 at 16:00

Hi mate. Sent you an email. Thought it was best instead of going back and forth on this page. Let me know.

    Holty01 · 23/08/2019 at 07:16

Awesome work Derek. Great idea this league.

    Holty01 · 23/08/2019 at 11:02

Awesome Kezzam and the runners up.

    Lekdog · 23/08/2019 at 18:49

I'm in next year and I will lose early.

      Derek · 24/08/2019 at 10:29

It’s brutal LEK. Sleepless nights. Most people are relieved when they are eliminated.

Look out for the codes in the preseason chatter.

Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 18:50

Greene out of the Giants side…injured, that's a bit of a shock.

Maverick_ · 22/08/2019 at 20:01

Ahhh Tobias Greene you never fail to disappoint! RIP grand finals.

    Russty_ · 22/08/2019 at 20:33

Bad luck Mav, maybe he karate kicked himself in the nuts?

      Maverick_ · 22/08/2019 at 21:16

Yeah I knew his run of form was too good to be true and a trap haha I do have two trades up my sleeve Might be time to recall Jeremy Cameron his previous scores are 160, 110 & 140 against GC. And no doubt GWS will be feeding him to try win that Coleman.. I like this a lot

Or play it safe on boak and match my opponents.

        Russty_ · 23/08/2019 at 18:00

Maybe go for gold mate with Cameron..you'd probs kick yourself if you just matched your opponent's player and then Cameron got 150

Stan · 23/08/2019 at 07:25

One trade left and one fwd spot to fill, Ziebell as POS or Boak as a blocker? Thoughts??

    Stan · 23/08/2019 at 07:27

    *Ziebell as POD

Benji · 23/08/2019 at 09:36

Love the podcast, first time commenter but long time lurker. Not sure what final move to make but what I’m thinking is:

Heeney out > Dunkley DPP
Stein out > Rookie

That leaves me with 640k,

Thinking of bringing in Yeo, Bont or Prestia (POD)

    neil demons delight · 23/08/2019 at 11:47

Great effort Benji Heeney to Dunks is a no brainer and the Bont will go huge also good luck

      Benji · 23/08/2019 at 13:10

      Legend! Cheers for the advice

neil demons delight · 23/08/2019 at 18:02

Good to see Richo joining the mighty Dees Wonder if Marshall is part of the deal or do we get Kent back grrr

    Lekdog · 23/08/2019 at 18:49

JB · 24/08/2019 at 09:16
