Who’s Your Captain? – Round 15
Hallelujah, the Byes are over! We now have all 9 games back and as a result have more captains options.
I won’t hold you all up, see the best below.
Top VICE-CAPTAIN Options
Thursday Night vs Essendon – AVG vs Team: 112.8
What a monster this man has become in the SuperCoach world, and let’s not forget the 176 he scored against the Bombers two years ago when he was arguably in lesser form. Didn’t face the Giants in the first round of the season, but he’ll want to make sure he plays his part to see the Giants perform similarly to that day.
Thursday Night vs GWS Giants – AVG vs Team: 97.8
He was torn to pieces after his round one performance against the Giants, and it will be interesting to see how he responds this time around. Has been quite good since that game but worryingly his worst scores of the season have been when he’s come up against teams in the Top 4.
Friday Night vs Geelong – AVG vs Team: 108.3
Having not played at GMHBA Stadium since 2017, it’s hard to decipher the kind of score that Sloane will produce, especially considering Adelaide don’t play too well at the ground. However, since Dangerfield has crossed to the Cats, Sloane has averaged 119.5 against the Cats.
Friday Night vs Adelaide – AVG vs Team: 138.4
This man has been on fire. Has a three round average of 140, and averages 138.4 against Adelaide since swapping to Geelong. Opposition irrelevant stats; Dangerfield averages 116 at GMHBA Stadium alone.
Early Saturday vs Hawthorn – AVG vs Team: 71.3
If the Hawks play anything like they did last weekend, Hurn will have a field day against the boys in brown and gold.
Saturday vs Gold Coast – AVG vs Team: 74.2
Probably the riskiest of all the Vice Captaincy options I’m putting forth just due to the fact that he doesn’t really score well against the Suns, and that may just be because he doesn’t see a lot of the ball when he plays them. Still would be surprised if he scored anything less than 105, not a VC relevant score though.
Saturday vs Gold Coast – AVG vs Team: 107.1
Since round nine, this guy has not had a score below 120. I don’t see that changing, especially considering the Suns give up the most SuperCoach points out of the 18 sides to opposition midfields. Expecting a huge score. Scored 125 last time these two teams met.
Thursday Night vs Essendon – AVG vs Team: 83.3
Say it with me now. Tackling Machine. Consistency has been an issue but this man has a nice ceiling when he gets going. He finished with a 112 back when these two teams met in round one, and has had six scores 110 or better since, with four of those greater than 130.
Top CAPTAIN Options
Saturday Night vs North Melbourne – AVG vs Team: 90.0
If this guy isn’t fully fit then god help us when he is. A 174 on the weekend on the back of 25 disposals, 50 hitouts and 2 goals. Has been in some kind of form this year regardless of that, and hopefully he can score better than 114 against North Melbourne, which worryingly is his highest score against the Kangaroos.
Saturday Night vs Port Adelaide – AVG vs Team: 99.5
Discounting the game where Jack injured his hamstring, Macrae’s last two scores against the Power have been a 147 and a 145. Couple that with the form that he’s been displaying of late, and we could see a big score from the Bulldogs midfielder. Dan Houston looms as a potential party pooper though.
Saturday Night vs Western Bulldogs – AVG vs Team: 85.8
Has been a midfield powerhouse at Port Adelaide this year thanks to the push from Jarrad Schofield to put him back there. Doesn’t have a super record against the Bulldogs, but his previous scoring habits appear a thing of the past.
Sunday vs Melbourne – AVG vs Team: 120.1
Hasn’t been the same influential midfielder he was early in the season as of late, but that could all change against the Demons. Will more than likely be tagged by either James Harmes or Michael Hibberd, but he’s turned the Gabba into a happy hunting ground for himself averaging 115 at the venue.
Sunday vs Brisbane – AVG vs Team: 79.3
Has been in some kind of form but he could be tested this week. Has never scored better than 105 against Stefan Martin and the Lions, but he’s playing like a man possessed at the moment. History could all be about to change.
Sunday vs Carlton – AVG vs Team: 102.2
Scored a 154 last time he came up against the boys in blue, and loves playing at Perth Stadium. He was well held against the Demons and both he and the Dockers will be keen to atone for the loss. I’m predicting a true return to form from Fyfe this week.
Sunday vs Fremantle – AVG vs Team: 102.8
Similarly to Neale, hasn’t his same influential self as of late thanks to some close checking. Has had a week off to reset so will want to get the Blues off to a good start to try and get some semblance of order for their run home.
Saturday Night vs Western Bulldogs – AVG vs Team: 77.7
If he was able to score a massive 180 against the Geelong ruck division last week, what’s he going to do to Tim English? Another huge score could potentially unfold here.
