PODCAST | It’s Not About How Big Your Score Is, It’s What You Do With It. (Or Something.)

Published by Patch on

We survived the horrific, awful, no good, very bad bye round. We did it. We might not have scored many point during it, but it was a thing we did and we survived it. We’re free. Well, kinda. We’ve got one more of those bad boys coming up these week but with three trades and a BOATLOAD of premium options to trade in, it’s our time to shine.

So shine we do – Lekdog, Patch and Damo run through line-by-line, looking at the good, the bad and the ugly in each line to tell you who to and not to bring in this week in Supercoach.

What are your trades, and what are your thoughts on our weird, wooly and wonderful forward line suggestions?

Alright, Reilly O'Brien. Are ya trading him? I'm going to reply to this with a yes and a no – upvote which one you're doing.

      Jake · 17/06/2019 at 23:07

Going to lose this bye round against my opponent anyways so will allow ROB to keep generating cash for me and become a big promo fwd soon

      Russty_ · 17/06/2019 at 23:21

No because I already traded him for Whitfield, who got injured the same week…yay, anyways, enough whinging, no one likes a whinger πŸ™‚

    Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 08:17

He's my R2. Hoping he gets to $500k and Grundy drops to close to $600k and will be an easy upgrade. Or even better, he averages 110 for the rest of the year and I keep him.

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:35

Gotta trade him unless you have him onfield as R2

      Ned_Starkers · 18/06/2019 at 14:41

Why? If you paid rookie rates for him, what’s the rush. He’s going to pay for my last promo upgrade in about 3 to 4 weeks.

        TommyC99 · 19/06/2019 at 17:13

Because not sure we can afford 500k and 90pts a game sitting on our benches when the rest of our teams' a shambles

          Ned_Starkers · 19/06/2019 at 18:45

Yeah that’s fair, I’m maxing my trades next couple of weeks without needing to use ROB, plenty of others to get rid of first, Walsh, Baker, Drew, Libba, Answerth so I’ll wait for max coin. I traded Whitfield out a few weeks ago, so might see how he returns.

    COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 10:55

If I had him I would hold and watch Grundy's price continue to drop and pick up Grundy for 100K or less upgrade in two weeks

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 18/06/2019 at 14:08

ROB – Traded him to boak b4 the byes to plug donut on field in fwd line.

Boak has been pretty good esp of late.

    Russty_ · 17/06/2019 at 23:23

Hopefully no one this week Damo πŸ™‚

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 08:33

Are you looking for a F7?

      JR_Damo · 18/06/2019 at 15:25

Just in general. Who would you prefer?

        Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 18:02

Dahl I think… most consistent of the three. I think …πŸ€”

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 08:33

Love the degoey pick being a pies man haha the problem is he struggles with injuries and niggles

    silversovereign · 18/06/2019 at 09:17

    dal Boy

    Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 09:21

Don't mkind the De Goey pick. He's shown a better floor this year, and can go large. Reckon he's an option if you're short of cash.

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:36

    No thanks

    COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 10:56

No idea · 17/06/2019 at 22:45

I'd like to go crazy with trades this week as I have 3 rookies + Smith in defence, Walsh at M8, ROB at R2 and Greene (might keep him though) at F6.

BUT I only have 12 trades left and coming out of the byes with only 9 scares me. Playing for League only, so high many trades left is too few after the byes?

    Russty_ · 17/06/2019 at 23:19

If you mean how many trades left is too few, the answer is 12 or more lol.
If you want to make it to the grand final you have to consider what's to come.
    rounds: 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 – Finals week 1, week 2, week 3, Grand Final.
Potentially 9 more weeks you'll need to trade.
With droppings, injuries, 'mental health' issues popping up frequently, there has to be a period of weeks where you pull up stumps and decide to do nothing (at least for awhile)….otherwise you're buggered…right in the keister.

    Twilightingale · 18/06/2019 at 01:24

All dependent on where you are on the ladder and who your playing in the coming weeks. No point saving trades and keeping rookies on field if your opponents are full premo and will likely outscore you.

Winning games and ensuring you make finals / push for top 4 is more important than saving trades. No one competes for the consolation playoff bracket.

However, If your in a comfortable league position, more trades available for the latter end of the season the better. Injuries and suspensions can happen to anyone or just want to trade a mid out if they play Gws during finals to avoid a likely low score.

      Russty_ · 18/06/2019 at 01:50

There's always a point in saving trades at the back end of the season because without them, you're nothing, sometimes it's better to see how things unfold and not try to push too hard for anything…provider they're already travelling ok.
Plenty of shit can and will go wrong for all of us from here, it's an historic fact, and if you have no trades, you're toast.
You only need to make top 8 in League finals.

        One Touch Wonder · 18/06/2019 at 09:42

to win leagues you must have trades left. i have 18 left SHARK MOVE and team looking great. no-one will want to play me in the finals this year

    DavidC · 18/06/2019 at 06:58

I like to have around 10 trades coming out of the byes. People already down to 5 or 6 trades are stuffed regardless of how advanced their team is. They will be sitting with injured players on the bench in the finals and slide down the rankings massively the last few weeks.

      Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 08:32

Didn't the winner last year run out of trades with a few weeks to go? Just saying.

        DavidC · 18/06/2019 at 09:22

Yeh your right Rick but you have to have massive luck go your way. I typically have 7 to 8 trades after the byes and it is never enough. You want to jump on form players in the run home but you have to conserve trades. People want to get to full premo asap but just end up with a side full of average premos. Players come in and out of form. Look at Neale, great if you started with him, but those that jumped on after the few rounds paid top dollar and he has faded since. Is it better to have a team full of average premos early or have the best premos and the best rooks until late in the game and jump on the form premos for the run home? I like the latter strategy. Never been able to implement it though as I always run out of trades.

          Derek · 18/06/2019 at 10:08

the more i play this game i realise it is a season of two halves.

the first half is all about the rookies

the premiums sort themselves out and players quickly jump on the must haves, but the difference between a premium averaging 120 and another 105 isn't as devastating as having an Atkins score 22 when you have a Gibbons on the bench with a 106.

difference between the 1,000th team and the 10,000th team is 600 points, about 50 points a week!

i know i could have improved most weeks by 50 points just with the bench players i had.

the second half is all about the premiums and injury's to premiums.

If you want to improve your rank it is all about PODs. Not that you think your POD will outscore a Uber, its about when the Uber has a stinker or is injured and your the only one who doesn't have him.

    Eddie_The_Eagle · 18/06/2019 at 08:00

I'm pretty sure I am going to fall into the "stuffed" category this year.
Will be down to 6 trades after Round 15. That leaves me with 1 sub $450k player on the field but I cannot do anything about that.

Inconvenient injuries, poor premo selections at the start of year and a tough early draw in my cash league and I was pushed to burn through the trades.

Fingers crossed that I get through the season now unfortunately.

      Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 08:27

6 trades isn’t that bad!!! You expecting one of your premium players to get injured every week or something haha? I’d say I’d your squad is finnished and you have 5-7 in the bank you will be fine post bye
My side will be fully completed with 4 left though hahah πŸ˜‚potentially 5 but I’d rather pick solid playing rookies just incase

        Eddie_The_Eagle · 18/06/2019 at 10:24

I usually come out of the bye round with 10 so only having 6 this year makes me nervous. Was hoping to get M8 upgraded but that is going to burn another 2 trades. Fingers crossed that O.Baker or D.Clarke start putting some consistent points on the board.

    No idea · 18/06/2019 at 09:37

Thanks to all for replying- quite a variance in ideas (so I'm probably still confused), though now thinking maybe having 9 trades coming out of the byes isn't too bad.

Started the year with a bad hangover after being the Premier last year in our league. Have made my way back up to 7th after trading heavily and a few wins. Doubt I'll get to true full premium this year, unfortunately (unless I pretend Smith, ROB and Greene are premiums)

      Holty01 · 18/06/2019 at 12:04

I think depends if you are going for rank or league. Trades in hand is far more important when playing for leagues. Rank you can be a bit more aggressive.

      DavidC · 18/06/2019 at 13:33

      Rocky is out again apparently.

Steeeve · 17/06/2019 at 23:11

Really wanted my last two midfield upgrades to be Neale and Kelly. But I'll never finish my team spending that much. Going with Sloane after his bye for about 150,000 less.

Bringing in Dunkley this week or I'll never afford him. With Libba out he's a must have.

The Carlton rookies can go, thanks for your service lads. Sydney Stack and ROB have more cash to make so they will leave my team once their tonnes from last week are out of their cycles.

    Swans2012 · 18/06/2019 at 14:25

I can’t help feeling that Neale may be worth the 60k more than Sloane…..

      Steeeve · 18/06/2019 at 14:30

I think he will too. I am choosing Neale and Sloane for my final 2 spots (should have made that clear).

J Kelly is my ultimate target but is just too expensive.

Holty01 · 17/06/2019 at 23:36

Great POD guysπŸ‘

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:36

    Thanks mate!

left field option · 18/06/2019 at 00:23

left field option…Could hold ROB, trade out Goldstein for Fort. Yes, I know, but hear me out. if Ratanguotuloutou is out for Geelong (hamstring 2 weeks ago), in comes Fort (on the bubble).
With cash, could upgrade Walsh and Gibbons to Neale and Macrae. Then in 3 weeks, ROB max out at $520K or so, goes to Gawn.
Is this madness, or genius…

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 08:38

It’s crazy but it might just work haha, probably need a back up plan if it fails though

    No idea · 18/06/2019 at 09:38

love the ballsy idea, though you must have a few spare trades up your sleeve to pull that off

      Left field option · 18/06/2019 at 13:05

11 trades left after 3 this week

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 10:19

ROB has had a good run, but has only gone over 100 3 times, all against the weakest ruck divisions.

he was roughed up by Max a few weeks ago and Port rucks gave him a tough time.

he has a few pretty tough match up coming, cats this week is probably his easiest then the Port boys again, Witts, TBC, Kruzer, Marshall, NicNat and Grundy.

i wouldn't be surprised if Sauce is called back at some stage, either as a two ruck attack or to give the young bloke a rest

    Patch · 18/06/2019 at 22:03

I don't hate it but can't condone it in any way shape or form because oOOOOOOOHHH boy the risk involved

      left field option · 19/06/2019 at 17:08

Thanks Patch….I wish I didn't suggest it…Now I cant forget about it… Oh the joy of two premos, and a bubble boy…
Remember, still can get some good coin from Fort…Not much point trading in Gardner if he is not going to play either…
Only got 15 on the park (damn it Rocky and Lachie Young)
May all depend on what the opposition does (I'm playing for leagues). In top 4 but need to stay there.

    SeriousSam · 19/06/2019 at 17:48

It makes perfect sense, only 6 points dif in average between rob and Goldy

    Russty_ · 19/06/2019 at 23:12

Ratugolea a good chance to play this week so best to hold off on that and keep Goldy and Rob for now.
Probably best not to trade out anyone actually getting a game now, carnage is coming.

      Left field plan · 19/06/2019 at 23:35

If Ratugolea does play, Fort won’t come in. Need cash for upgrades so either ROB or Goldy are the obvious ones to go. Might just keep it simple, RoB out, Neale and the Bont upgrades for Walsh and gibbons.
But would love Fort to play this week…

Russty_ · 18/06/2019 at 02:41

Jeez why would you even want to go to a game these days with the way shit is unfolding lately?
You can't call an Umpire a Bald headed flog? That's what most of them are…these "Security Guards", aka rent a cop mercenaries pacing the Aisles waiting to hear someone getting loud or passionate about their team so they can kick them out of a game they've paid $50 to get into. What the effing F is going on?
The powers that be need to back the FK up and let people support their team the way they want to, as long as they're not racially abusing anyone, swearing or threatening violence.
Umpires are fair game and that's part of their training…to be the scapegoats at every game…that's why they get the big bucks, if they can't handle it, don't sign up for it.
Seeing people being picked out of the crowd, and ejected from games, just makes me want to say fk you AFL.. you're biting the hand that feeds you and this is a big mistake.
No one needs shit kicking, unqualified "security guards" deciding what's ok or not to say…aka thought police..sounds like big brother..aka George Orwell's 1984. Not ok.
People go to the Footy to enjoy the game, blow off steam, and enjoy the freedom of yelling out whatever they like, as long as it isn't publically offensive.
What I remember about going to Footy matches when I was younger and lived in Melbourne was, the passionate fans, saying what the hell ever and laughing my ass off about it…it's all part of the experience.
Fk these weasel P.C nazis trying to ruin the experience of our live game.

    Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 08:38

Yea good call. I think abuse of umpires probably needs to be curbed to an extent, but I wouldn't trust a meat head rent a cop to be making that judgement.

Fabian · 18/06/2019 at 07:05

Should I bring in Bontempelli or Zach Merrett?

    Brn · 18/06/2019 at 07:16

      Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 08:39

Both good options but the Bont is a CD love child and less likely to cop the tag.

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 10:25

i would go the POD. Merrett in 8%, Bont in 19%

COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 08:00

Surprised nobody spoke about Sam Walsh what should we do with him Imm thinking a downgrade to D.Clarke to upgrade Setterfield to Caleb Daniel

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:38

Think I broadly said something like "you all know who to trade out this week" and congrats, you knew!

      COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 11:00

haha yeah mate gotta go I reckon whats your thoughts on Sloane he will be a great buy next week but for me I have both the Crouch Brothers and Laird not sure I can get Sloane

ojs · 18/06/2019 at 08:12

bringing in two out of sloane merrett bont macrae dunkley m.crouch. Any ideas?

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 08:35

Sloane and dunk probably mate! Dunk absolute lock up fwd and Sloane is great value

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 09:20

    Dunkley and Macrae

Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 08:24

Which mid will average the highest on the run home? The only big boy I don’t have is Neale, is anyone gonna rival him Oliver/Sloane/merret/Duncan/other?

    Ja191 · 18/06/2019 at 10:10

I’m worried about tag with Neale, I won’t be picking him up til after his game vs gws in a couple of weeks. Fyfe would be the one I’d think

      RCD2 · 20/06/2019 at 10:20

De Boer war is out for 8 weeks wouldn't worry about it bud

Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 08:51

I was keen on Luke Parker, but if you look at when his scoring really took off, round 8, it coincides with JPK getting injured. So worry is with JPK potentially back this week, his scoring returns to pre round 8, circa 100-105. Im not paying $620k for that.

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 09:05

I’d be avoiding him at his price tag for sure especially with the other value on offer in the mids

Simon · 18/06/2019 at 09:09

Is Lycett a viable F6 option? Low price and low break even… with 2 x 100's in last 2 games…

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 10:37

the Port team will look different when Dixson is back in a week or two. Not sure Lycett will benefit much, his TOG may even fall.

However, the Hoff will finally be released to roam the wing and midfield. he has done that for sections of the last two games and both times he starts racking up the numbers

Hoff is $60k cheaper and a better option for the F7 Ruck cover role.

      Holty01 · 18/06/2019 at 12:23

      Shhh 🀫
      Don’t mention the Hoff.πŸ˜‰

      redherringfc · 18/06/2019 at 18:38

      Hoff, smHoff.

I’m with Holty. Move along; nothing to see here.

    Jace · 18/06/2019 at 15:33

I picked up Westhoff last week to cover byes and be F7&R3 bench cover for the rest of the year.
Happy with his 90 last week.

Rick Grimes · 18/06/2019 at 09:09

Why did you have to go and mention Buddy Franklin. That run of games looks tantalising. Coming off the bye, he'll be ready to go huge. Or terrible. But my season is cooked, so why not!

    No idea · 18/06/2019 at 09:41

Love the Budster from his Hawks days, though not sure he's still Supercoach relevant these days

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 10:39

i mentioned that to swans2012 a few weeks ago, it won't be long before we start looking at Buddy. He says he already has him.

Buddy is the classic Buffalo Bouncer and most years i end up with him

      Swans2012 · 18/06/2019 at 14:20

Yep, thought he’d turned the corner just before his injury and bought him in as a pod, ah well held and held and hopefully will reap the rewards, I’ve got gray at f7 now to hopefully loop away the poor scores.

    TRIGGA_HAPPY · 18/06/2019 at 14:13

    Buddy v Curnow?

    Pretty much same price.

Scarpi · 18/06/2019 at 10:02

Dear Community I need some help 12 trades Left and 523k in the bank not sure what to do.

– I'm thinking of doing 3 trades Smith, Hore and duursma To Ryan, Laird and sicily?

DEF:LIoyd ,Houli, Smith, Hore,Naish, Duursma (Burgess,Rotham)

MID: Neale,Fyfe,Macrae, Taranto,Kelly,Gaff,Cripps, B. Crouch ( Scott, Answerth, Bewley)

RUCK: Gawn, Grundy (O'brien)

FWD: Dunkley, Boak, Dangerfield, Heeney,Pretruccelle, Parker (Young, Bines)

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 10:23

Get rid of your fwd rookies first mate! They are killing you big time
    Marshall/Daniel/tkelly id look at
If you want to put it off mundy is going cheap soon maybe even a Robbie Gray Toby Greene or buddy type could be an option
Then look to offload RoB and finnish your backline

Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 10:11

Community Hurn or Neale I don’t think I’ll have the cash to get them both, thus I’ll have to pass up on one of them for the year what do we think, will be bringing one in this week? Rank:1254

    Beezneez · 18/06/2019 at 13:00

Hurn should be cheaper after this week.

jimbowan · 18/06/2019 at 10:22

Is Dunkley an absolute must have now? I cant quite afford both him and Neale so was thinking of going Daniel instead? Or do I need to move heaven and earth to get Dunks now?

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:39

I'd prefer Neale and Daniel pumping out around 215 points a game than just getting in Dunkley

Ja191 · 18/06/2019 at 10:32

Bring in Bont this week or Sloane next?

    COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 10:35

    sloane next

    Lekdog · 18/06/2019 at 10:40

    I prefer Sloane

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 10:41

I’ve been seriously considering Sloane but
    R18-21 he plays Clarke/Curnow/Steele/hutchings
He is good forward so he potentially can scrap out a tonne and the Adelaide oval factor is something else to consider
Has pies in rnd 22 which could be limiting

    Holty01 · 18/06/2019 at 13:01

Bont if going for overall as you get one extra week of premium output. Sloane for leagues.

Starting position 45k, 16 trades.

Proposed trades trades..
This week..

B Smith > J Lloyd
Dursma > G Logue
Gibbons > D Clarke

$229k in bank

Next week
Setterfield > L Neale
N Answerth > J Hately (or other rookie if he's not named)

This should leave me with $15,000 remaining and team will look like this..

lloyd, ryan, williams, sicilly, laird, Naish/Logue – D Joyce, Naish / Logue
Fyfe, Neale, Macrae, Zorko, Treloar, Selwood, Cripps, Walshe – Clarke, Bewley, Hately
Grundy, Gawn – Bines
Danger, Mundy, De Goey, Heeney, R Gray, Dylan Moore – R Young, Gardner

I know it seems like a lot of moving around to still have effectively 3 missing premiums but my team is essentially a pile of stinking crap at the moment so I'm just trying to get in some quality.

Will leave me with 11 trades after next week.

does anyone have any better ideas?

    Jazz · 18/06/2019 at 11:33

I would look at B Smith > Rampe. POD save 90K.
Leave Dursma and Logue (not on the bubble).
Definetely D Clarke like everyone else.
    Plus one more.
But build a bank for next week to bring in a Defender like Stewart or Hurley
(Def. done) as well as a Prem Mid not Neale.

John · 18/06/2019 at 10:57

In a bit of a pickle, don’t know which mid to get out of Neale, Duncan, Sloane and Oliver. Neale likely to get tagged against GWS, Duncan likely to go down in price and don’t know if Oliver will sustain his full form. Sloane seems a good pick right now but I really want one of Neale or Duncan but I feel I should wait. Any suggestions? I can get any mid btw I already have Cripps, Cogs, Macrae, B Crouch, Treloar and Fyfe πŸ™‚

COREYSC · 18/06/2019 at 11:22

Hi Community This is my team after my two trades this week and I have 57K left with 14 trades in the bank and 19 players available this week
Lloyd, Z.Williams, Laird, Sicily, Hore, Clark (Naish, Gardner)
J.Kelly, Fyfe, Cripps, Neale, Macrae, B.Crouch, M.Crouch, D.Clarke (Answerth, Scott, Bewley)
Gawn, Grundy (Bines)
Dunkley, T.Kelly, Dangerfield, Boak, Heeney, Daniel (Burgess, Young)

What should I do in terms of upgrades from here I was planning wait for Hurn to drop and trade Hore to Hurn
The one I'm struggling with is trading in Sloane because I believe he is a top 8 mid but can I afford to have both Crouch brothers and Sloane or do I just sideways B.Crouch to Sloane. I could downgrade Clark to Hind this week as my third trade and then next week trade Answerth to a def rookie that would yield me 350K to upgrade B.Scott to Sloane leaving me with 11 trades left and 8 rounds left before trading Hore to Hurn and somehow finding cash to get Naish to Whitfield later on by finals hopefully I'll have 7 trades left with B.Crouch still in the side If i can pull it all off by finals maybe look at a B.Crouch to Cunnington or Cogs (with his finals run) to have my whole team uber premium.

John · 18/06/2019 at 11:44

Stuck between these 3 trades. I have 16 trades left and $104.4k in the bank, these are my options:

– Wilkie to Clarke via Duursma, Tom Sparrow to Naish via Duursma and then Duursma up to Mitch Duncan (roughy $90k left)

– Wilkie to Clarke via Duursma, Duursma down to Naish, Tom Sparrow to Caleb Daniel via Setterfield (roughly $160k left)

– Duursma to Clarke, Wilkie to Luke Ryan (roughly $150k left)

Any suggestions are appreciated!

    DavidC · 18/06/2019 at 13:46

Why not just go Wilkie to Naish and Sparrow to Clarke and leave poor old Duursma out of it. He's getting dizzy being flung around everywhere.

      John · 18/06/2019 at 14:37

So you don’t think I should get rid of Duursma yet?

        John · 18/06/2019 at 14:38

LukaSC · 18/06/2019 at 11:50

Hey fellas,
Thoughts on zach merrett? Little bit concerned about his next few games with WCE (hutchings tag?) and GWS (likely de boar tag).
Or is cunnington/mitch duncan a better option?

Current midfield:
Fyfe, Coniglio, Cripps, Bont, Macrae, Neale, Josh Kelly, Walsh

Cheers for your thoughts

Stacky23 · 18/06/2019 at 12:42

Trading Balta Libba and Parker to Lloyd Clarke and Bewley, leaves me with 11 trades left and 80k
Def: Hurn Lloyd Williams Crisp Milera Hore (Naish Gardner)
Mid: Kelly Fyfe Crip Macr Yeo Cogs Mrouch Stack(Dur,bew,Clarke)
Ruc: Gawn Grundy (Bines)
Fwd: Danger Kelly Dunks Daniel Heeney Setterfield (Burge, young)
Is it worth holding off trades for a few weeks until a viable rookie option gets games even though Durssma and Stack are ready to be upgraded?

        yep πŸ‘

Holty01 · 18/06/2019 at 13:44

Bloody annoying when you plan your midfield around avoiding the De Boer tag and he is now out. What’s worse is the plan of moving up the ranks because people who own the likes of Merrett, Martin etc would have suffered. And yes, I am being a big sook right now.

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 14:24

Very happy, from a Merrett, Dusty and soon to be Neale owner.

Not happy as a Rocky owner, but Rocky become Neale

Rocky will really stretch some people’s budgets. He was very good value and will be hard to replace unless you dip into the Warchest.

DavidC · 18/06/2019 at 13:50

Rocky misses again. Glad I traded him to Fyfe last week. Hope he enjoyed his holiday in China.

    Holty01 · 18/06/2019 at 13:53

      good point
just not sure who else to down trade to
If I go to Logue then I won't have enough to trade up to Neale & Boak

Get in Hurn this week and finish off the defence or go Merrett/Bont/Yeo?

    Ja191 · 18/06/2019 at 15:11

Unless hurn is your upgrade I wouldn’t be spending 600k for him, money is vital at this time. I’d go bont/merrett/yeo in that order but get Oliver/neale or maybe Sloane in a week if you don’t have them

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 18:13

Wait a week for Hurn.. has a 160 BE so should drop in price … might miss anyway with his hammy… I’m waiting 2 weeks..

      Derek · 18/06/2019 at 22:50

Hurn should play, but I would wait a few weeks, will drop

Swans2012 · 18/06/2019 at 15:26

Just wondering how many everyones fielding this week and your premo-rookie breakdown?
After 2 trades I’ve got 20 including Bewley, Clarke and Gardner. Rest are premo/ premoish type players

    Russty_ · 18/06/2019 at 15:46

Hey Swanny, 15 alleged premos and 6 rookies on for me this week

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 16:17

15 solid premos for me and 5 rookies

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 18:09

Fielding 19… 12 premos, 6 rookies and Crisp.

    SeriousSam · 18/06/2019 at 19:35

I've got 20 playing, 21 if you count Gardner
16 premo ( eight 110+ ave and eight 100+ ave)
Plus Darling, Duursma, Answerth and Bewley
Predicted score with Max as C is 2165

      Derek · 18/06/2019 at 22:48

    Derek · 18/06/2019 at 21:58

    Before trades I have 20.

That includes Libba and Rocky confirmed out

And Gardner and Young who are unlikely to get a game, Bewley who may not hold his place and Parker who isn’t that good. I could be down to 15 + Parker.

    Out: Libba, Rocky & Parker
    In: Clarke, Lloyd & Walters

Gives me half a chance for a decent score.

The crumbler · 18/06/2019 at 16:23

I've been struggling around the mid of one cash league and crumbling in another. I've only got 12 trades left and 27k in the bank

12 trades 27k

Whitfield, Laird, T.Stewart, Williams, Rich, R. Gardner (B. Smith, Naish)
Neal, Fyfe, Macrae, Oliver, Rockliff, N. Answerth, O. Baker, B. Bewley (Cripps, Walsh, Hately)
Grundy, Gawn (b.williams)
T.Kelly, Dangerfield, Boak, C. Daniel L.Dahlhaus, Billings, (setterfield, C Burgess)

I'm thinking of setterfield down to Clarke Walsh up to dunkley to give me cover in the fwd/mid. B.Smith down to G.Logue/hinge to free up cash for Lloyd next week

    The crumbler · 18/06/2019 at 16:25

Also what's the go with Logue? Will he hold his spot?

      MAD MIKE · 18/06/2019 at 16:28

Cheers Mike think I'll be looking at him then πŸ‘Œ

    SeriousSam · 18/06/2019 at 19:27

You are low on trades and some of your players are injured, it is advisable to trade the broken players and keep the ones that still work.
You want to trade Setterfield, Walsh and Smith but they will all play next week and Rocky Whitfield wont play for 2-4 weeks and your bench cover are spuds.

Consider these trades, they will give you an extra 207 points this week (based on averages) and also increases your bank to 131k. PLUS they lessen your reliance on spud rookies next week

    Whitfield to Clark (via Answerth)
    Rocky to To Dunkley
    Smith to Lloyd
Next week you can go Answerth to Logue and Dahlhouse to JKelly increasing your score by another 62 points p/week

Whitfield wont be back before round 18 and Logue can wait a week he wont increase this week and you can downgrade one of your spuds to him next week. Answerth and clarke will each score more than whitfield for at least the next 3 weeks.

Rocky still out with a hammy might not be back next week either he only averages 7 more than Walsh and neither will make any more $ but at least Walsh is fit.

Lloyd wont get any Cheaper than he is this week his average is 117 and his b.e is 94 (he's also 16k cheaper than he started). You need him while Whitfield is out and Whitfield is predicted to drop 60k in his first 2 games back.

      The crumbler · 18/06/2019 at 22:16

Thanks heaps for that effort mate will be following this for sure! Pretty much what I was after but couldn't see it
Think next week will be answerth to down and Walsh to Sloan

Streety34 · 18/06/2019 at 16:24

With 8 trades left and 3 (and a half as might upgrade Hore later) positions to fill, is it worth trading in 102k players to maximise money instead of rookies that cost 125-150k?

    MAD MIKE · 18/06/2019 at 16:29

    Sam_01 · 18/06/2019 at 16:51

Probably depends on your situation, if you have injury prone players might be worth grabbing a couple solid rookies! If not 102k players probably fine keep in mind you will want some cash left over aswell if injuries happen

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 17:59

Yep.. I’m doing just that for loop holes on each line …. if you do it make sure you use players from the Doggies, Bears, or Eagles .. they have the most last games here on in.

ROB14 · 18/06/2019 at 17:11

    dontblushbaby · 18/06/2019 at 17:38

370k and a BE of 43, nows the time Rob, could be a masterstroke mate

    SeriousSam · 18/06/2019 at 17:52

Crazy for an F6 but brilliant for an F7.
The other option is Hogan 60k cheaper than Buddy and also back in gun forward form

    ROB14 · 18/06/2019 at 19:06

Funny thing is I have never had him in my side, maybe now isn't the time to start either haha

Gav · 18/06/2019 at 17:35

Anyone thinking about Brayshaw for Libba. Seems to be playing Mid now. The extra coin I save bye not getting Merret will get another Rookie off the field next week and bring in Hurn or Sloane the following week. Cash Gen is hard at the moment so seriously considering. Will still have 12 trades and only Marty Hore last rook onfield after next week.

    Lazza · 18/06/2019 at 18:03

Could just be a sneaky for the last half of the season..

One more week till it's all over! Can only get two out of Macrae, Dunkley and Walters this week, who's the priority?

The one that misses probably won't come into my side for another 2-3 weeks.

    Ja191 · 18/06/2019 at 21:28

Dunkley over both then prob macrae but it’s team dependent

    jimbowan · 19/06/2019 at 14:18

    JohnDJ59 · 19/06/2019 at 16:16

    Dunkley and Walters.

    SeriousSam · 19/06/2019 at 19:01

Based on economics Dunkley and Walters. Based on SC score projections also Dunkley and Walters

    Macrae – Dunkley – Walters
Projected averages over next 3 weeks
    110 – 125.6 – 111.3

Projected Price changes over next 3 weeks
    $2k up – $54k up – $48k up

      Joe T · 19/06/2019 at 22:25

This is great! Means I can hold off on Macrae as he won't change in price much.

Walters is a classic burn man but I can't ignore him anymore.

iLoveNMFC · 18/06/2019 at 21:21

Don't understand why people get so worried about small price drops or increases. If you can get in a premium that will be in your final team as quickly as possible to maximise point output, you should go for it. Just my thoughts πŸ™‚

Hey guys, usually i try not to post my team but i'm really stumped what to do this week. Had a solid week last week scoring 1876, and looks like ill get 18 quite comfortably this week. Got 12 trades left (shudder) and still a few spots to fill. Any thoughts much appreciated!

165k in the bank (Asterisk next to those who have the bye this week)
Def: Hurn, Ryan, Laird*, Williams*, Crisp, Hore (Gardner, Naish*)
Mid: Fyfe, Cripps*, Macrae, Oliver, Bont, Mcrouch*, Walsh*, Duursma, (Baker, Answerth, Bewley)
Ruc: Grundy, Gawn, (ROB)
Fwd; Dunkley, Danger, Boak, Heeney, Cameron*, Parker, (Young, Bines)

Any trade thoughts welcomed!

    Ja191 · 19/06/2019 at 08:49

I’d be trading out Walsh and duursma. You could downgrade either to one of Clark/hately if named and upgrade the other to Neale. By my calulations that would leave you with 270k in which you could trade parker to Caleb Daniel/rowan marshall to finish your forward line

      TommyC99 · 19/06/2019 at 11:49

Hey mate, i like your thinking, but can i afford to go without TKelly? If i went Marshall i wouldnt have room for Kelly

        Ja191 · 19/06/2019 at 13:34

Alternatively you could go someone like a Sloane instead and get kelly up forward. I’d calc and weigh up the differences in points – you may have to compromise having the best players to have full premium with some trades left tho

    SeriousSam · 19/06/2019 at 11:00

That squad has 14 onfield plus Answerth and Baker – Bewley Gardner, Young unlikely.
In your best 22 you have 2 onfield mids averaging less than 90 and a fwd ave less than 60 you should fix them now.

Time for ROB to go, so what if he'll make another 80 over next 3weeks inc bye.

ROB out > move Bines to ruck – Gardner fwd -Answerth Back- bring in Neale = increases ongoing onfield ave by 50 and opens def/mid swing plus this round it increases your onfield ave by 178

Walsh to Clark = xtra onfield this week increases bank to 324k

Baker or Parker to Caleb Daniel. If baker it increases ongoing onfield ave by 102 but this round only by 48 and opens mid/fwd swing but only leaves 14k. if Parker it increases ongoing ave and round onfield by 47 and leaves 65k

      Russty_ · 19/06/2019 at 23:07

Sam…no offence, but you've gone too aggressive too early mate and I'd be very surprised if you aren't a broken blithering wreck in the next 3 or 4 weeks with only 3 trades left.
It's all well and good to get the best team on field as soon as you can but you need backup for what's about to happen, and it will happen, it's already started.
Doesn't matter how good your team is now, there's still effectively 9 rounds to go if you want to get to the final…too many variables will occur between now and then.

    Derek · 19/06/2019 at 14:13

When you get rid of ROB, what are you going to do about Ruck cover? Do you care?

      TommyC99 · 19/06/2019 at 16:12

Not really tbh derek. It was mainly for the byes. Every other serious supercoacher will have the same issue if an injury arises. In saying that Westhoff hitting a bit of form and being an F7/R3 would be convenient.

      SeriousSam · 19/06/2019 at 16:17

Deal with the ruck problem when it occurs. If Grundy misses this week it doesn't matter, but if you're a nervous type you could trade in Lycett instead.
I WAS a nervous Nellie about 4 weeks ago when I traded in Lobb instead of Daniel to F6 thereby sacrificing 10points per round for a feeling of security in case of Ruck emergency. I didn't have Rob and I started a speculative R2 who got injured in round 2 so I'd already made my budgeted ruck trade before Rob came along.
Guess what? My ruck cover got injured leaving me with 16 onfield last week and no ruck cover going forward.
The Moral of the story is to deal with problems when they occur.

By keeping Rob on the bench he's giving up a minimum 50 points p/week, in 3 weeks he makes up any points that he may lose in the future due to a ruck missing a game. If a ruck doesn't get injured he sacrifices a minimum 450 points before the season ends.
If a ruck is out for more than 3 weeks you can trade one in, with parker, young and Bines on the bench even with Ruck/fwd cover you'd drop 50-80 points p/game.

        Russty_ · 19/06/2019 at 23:15

I think you might've dealt with every problem as it occurs mate, and that will be your downfall I think, you need way more than 3 trades to see you through from here…it will all count for nought when you can't field a full team going into the finals…if you make it that far.
Points differentials between players don't count for shit when there's no trades left, then your team just becomes another victim.

    SpudsFC · 19/06/2019 at 19:02

Find a way to go Parker to TKelly, can't afford to have a guy averaging 60 still on your field. Option is Walsh downgrade to Clark, then parker to kelly. Also gives you Clark's score this week over walsh with the bye

DavidC · 19/06/2019 at 06:20

Bailey Scott out indefinitely if anyone is holding him in the hope of him getting a game.

Bells · 19/06/2019 at 09:17

I like the Buddy spec pick if you need a flyer.
Has been injured all year – just coming back to some kind of form given his fitness.
Swans starting to actually move the ball well.
A nice 'swing for the fences' Patch.

    Swans2012 · 19/06/2019 at 09:55

Can everyone stop mentioning bud, I didn’t hold him for a month for everyone to jump on now lol
But really he’s a rollercoaster I wouldn’t recommend unless you plan on having an f7 to loop him with…

      Derek · 19/06/2019 at 12:16

I like how the Swans play early most weeks. A couple of Friday nights, but mainly the early Saturday games for them.

Means you can have the big bloke on your bench with the E having a free swing.

You can get a Buddy & Hoff to cover your F6/F7/R3 for the price of Dunkley and a spud rookie.

    Appreciate what you have.

      s c tragic · 19/06/2019 at 14:37

I am so cross with him I could wring his silly neck, 10 games , means he is back for finals ?…….

      TBone_9 · 19/06/2019 at 15:49

Yeah I’ll tell ya what mate. Some blokes would give anything to have the opportunity. Such a talented player too, I don’t understand haha

DavidC · 19/06/2019 at 15:34

Josh Rotham expected to make way for Hurn. Young Cameron to debut in place of the suspended Rioli.

Emmaw · 19/06/2019 at 17:11

Do you sacrifice rocky or stack for Clarke?.. who has the longevity?

    TommyC99 · 19/06/2019 at 18:23

Well Rocky has gone from almost passing a fitness test in China to being out a further couple of weeks. You'd think he'd be back next week. PLus his scoring has a higher ceiling than Stack so i'd go stack

      Emmaw · 19/06/2019 at 20:19

Yes thanks tommy.. will keep the faith in rocky

TommyC99 · 19/06/2019 at 18:18

Whos more of a priority this week, TKelly or Lloyd?

    SpudsFC · 19/06/2019 at 18:58

Both locks, depends if you fwd or def needs more work

SpudsFC · 19/06/2019 at 19:04

What do we reckon for the backline guys
Gonna upgrade Duursma next week. Currently have Lloyd, Hurn, Z.Williams, Laird and Hore.
Leaning towards L.Ryan, but still contemplating the merits of Sicily, Houli and Stewart

Emmaw · 19/06/2019 at 20:20

Definitely Lloyd… of course depending on team line up

    TOPHAWK1 · 19/06/2019 at 20:27

Spud has Lloyd Emma. πŸ™‚ Spud needs Luke Ryan!

      SpudsFC · 20/06/2019 at 00:05

I wish it was a simple pick like Lloyd! Yeah Luke Ryan looks to be the go

Maverick_ · 19/06/2019 at 20:26

I hoped to get in Neale and Sloane this week but looks like I may have to settle for Sloane & bont to fill out my midfield. Even gonna be scrounging round for the pennies to get jake Lloyd in eventually. Lack of $$ is hurting more so than trades running low. How’s everyone else looking? Missing baker and stack early hurt and trading out hore to scrim after round 2 was an oops.

John · 19/06/2019 at 20:38

16 Trades and $104.4k in the bank. Was thinking of going Wilkie to Naish, Sparrow to Clarke and upgrading Duursma to a premo midfielder or defender. My other option is to go Schultz to Naish via Gardner and Sparrow to Clarke. Should I do one of these trades or hold for this week? Any other suggestions would be appreciated ! I am going for league wins btw.

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Williams, Sicily, Hore, Wilkie EMG: (Answerth, Gardner)
MID: Fyfe, Cripps, Macrae, Cogs, Treloar, B Crouch, Stack, Duursma EMG: (O.Baker, Bewley, Sparrow)
RUCK: Gawn, Grundy EMG: (Sweet)
FWD: Dunkley, Kelly, Danger, Boak, Heeney, Setterfield EMG: (Young, Schultz)

    SpudsFC · 20/06/2019 at 00:07

I would look to offload Setterfield as soon as you can, especially because he has the bye this week. Maybe hold Duursma for another week and go Setterfield to Caleb Daniel if you can afford?

      John · 20/06/2019 at 10:25

The only way I can make cash is if I downgrade Wilkie. I could do Wilkie to Logue, Setterfield to Daniel and Sparrow to Clarke. That only leaves me with $1.5k. I've changed my mind and think I should just do Schultz to Logue via Gardner and Sparrow to Clarke which leaves me with roughly $50k and then next week I can downgrade Wilkie to Naish if he's selected and then upgrade Duursma. Setterfield only has a BE of 29 so he can still make some cash. What do do you think?

        SpudsFC · 20/06/2019 at 11:13

Yeah I like that second option more. Holding Duursma makes sense because he's playing this week and his BE is only 70ish which is very achievable for him. Setterfield still has cash to make, I just am opposed to having him on the field cause he can produce 40's if he has a bad day, which really hurts your score. Depends if you're going for league wins or overall rank.

Derek · 19/06/2019 at 22:58

Start of the week I was thinking I had 20 on field this round before any trades.

Turns out Rocky and Libba are injured and Hoff has been dropped.

Burgess, Gardner, Young are unlikely to get a game, and Bewley might miss as well.

I could be down to 13, and one of them is Parker (saints) who doesn’t really count.

Just too many bullets to dodge some weeks

    Russty_ · 19/06/2019 at 23:03

True mate and bad luck for this week…makes a good argument for not going too aggressive too early, not saying you did, but some have and I think they'll suffer the consequences for it. Didn't see Westhoff's dropping coming, another bloody curveball!

      Holty01 · 20/06/2019 at 08:53

When you look at their side now, there just doesn’t seem to be a spot for him. He is no key forward and the young kids like Duursma etc seem to have taken that midfield role away from him. Not to mention Rocky still has to return. Lucky he was dropped this week for myself as I was one considering to take the punt on him this week. I to did not see this coming.

        Swans2012 · 20/06/2019 at 11:09

On another note, gee lycett would be relevant if Ryder is out for an extended period.

Daz · 20/06/2019 at 10:43

Lloyd, bont, logue or hawkins, clayton, logue??? wanted clayton, lloyd, logue but $1,000 short, intend to to get the other one the following week. But im not sure what the difference between Bont and Clarry will be as they are my last midfield upgrade.

    Swans2012 · 20/06/2019 at 11:06

Yeah it’s line ball between them, take whoever has the lower ownership % or whatever your gut says. Regards, Jayden

need my last fwd walters or marshall?

    Russty_ · 24/06/2019 at 23:17

I'd say Marshall now that Walters did his Spanish Bull impersonation.
