The first bye round of the year is down and there’s two more to go! The first week was painful for some, with some popular rookie selections scoring poorly, which unfortunately due to being the best of 18 many of us had to cop. If you managed to avoid some of those poor scores, then congratulations to you. We also had some BIG scores come from a few players, which boosted scores if you were smart enough to use your VC/C options wisely this week. Round 13 will see Brisbane, Collingwood, Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney and West Coast on the sidelines, but before we worry about all that, lets go see how everyone performed for Round 12.

Victoria

Collingwood

Collingwood had a 98-57 win over Melbourne on the Queens Birthday matchup at the MCG. Darcy Moore (DEF/FWD, $374,000) had 13 disposals and 5 marks for 78 SCPoints. He has a BE of 77 this week, but Collingwood have the bye, so this might be the week to trade him out.

The opposite result occurred in the VFL, with Collingwood suffering a big 102-39 defeat against the Casey Demons. Isaac Quaynor (DEF, $153,300) had just 8 disposals, 4 tackles and 3 rebound 50’s and Max Lynch (RUC, $123,900) had 15 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles and 33 hitouts.

Carlton

Carlton had a terrific 2nd half, scoring 8 goals to 3 to take a 78-63 win over Brisbane. Sam Walsh (MID, $441,200) had a terrific game with 32 disposals, 12 marks, 4 tackles and 6 clearances for 141 SCPoints. His BE is 55 this week, but with a current 3 round average of 100.3 SCPoints he’s not looking like someone you’d have to worry about immediately upgrading at this point. Michael Gibbons (MID, $290,500) had 23 disposals, 3 tackles, 7 inside 50’s and 2 goals for 109 SCPoints. His BE is 4 this week. Will Setterfield (MID/FWD, $244,200) finished with 18 disposals, 8 marks and 3 tackles for 67 SCPoints. His BE is 15 this week with a 3 round average of 53.3 SCPoints.

The Blues made it a rare double win this week, with a 99-82 win over Coburg in Round 10 of the VFL season. Hugh Goddard (DEF, $159,600) had 22 disposals and 12 marks, Angus Schumacher (DEF, $123,900) had 19 disposals, 6 marks and 6 rebound 50’s and Matthew Owies (MID/FWD, $102,400) kicked 1.1 with 8 disposals, 5 marks and 6 tackles.

Essendon

Essendon had a bye in both the AFL and VFL this week.

Geelong

Geelong remain clear on top of the AFL ladder after their 104-37 win over Richmond. Gryan Miers (FWD, $311,300) finished with 21 disposals, 4 marks and 3 goals for 85 SCPoints. Miers still lost $10K with that score, but has a BE of 50 this week. Geelong are on the bye though, so there isn’t a lot more cash to squeeze out of him, so he could be an upgrade option this week. Tom Atkins (MID, $329,000) had 16 disposals, 4 marks and 70 SCPoints. His BE is 59, but he’s in the same position as Miers. Jordan Clark (DEF, $291,800) finished with 12 disposals, 2 marks and 5 clangers for 24 SCPoints. That score just beat his BE, so he made $5,000, but he has a BE of 77 with a 5 round average of 59.2 SCPoints. Another trade out option this week.

Geelong suffered a 86-63 to Richmond in the VFL. Nathan Krueger (FWD, $123,900) kicked 3.1 with 11 disposals, 7 marks and 3 tackles, Charlie Constable kicked a goal with 26 disposals and 5 tackles and Darcy Fort (RUC, $117,300) had 11 disposals, 4 marks, 3 hitouts and a goal.

Hawthorn

Hawthorn had a bye last week, as did the Box Hill Hawks.

Melbourne

Melbourne never really got going against the Pies, with inaccurate goal kicking hurting them on the way to a 98-57 loss. Marty Hore (DEF, $418,300) had 21 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles for 94 SCPoints. He has a BE of 39 and is on the bye, so logic might dictate you trade him, but with a season average of 87.6 SCPoints and a 3 round average of 95.0 SCPoints it shouldn’t be an immediate need unlike a lot of other rookie selections. Oskar Baker (MID, $200,200) finished with 18 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles and 5 clangers for 50 SCPoints. Charlie Spargo (FWD, $229,500) had 17 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles and a goal for 61 SCPoints and Sam Weideman (FWD, $284,300) had 11 disposals, 5 marks and 2 goals for 57 SCPoints

The Casey Demons had a big 102-39 win over Collingwoods VFL side. Kyle Dunkley (MID, $102,400) kicked 3 goals with 21 disposals, 4 marks and 5 tackles, Corey Wagner (MID, $202,100) had 27 disposals, 5 marks, 8 tackles and 2 goals and Brayden Preuss ($239,900) finished with 19 disposals, 6 marks, 6 tackles and 40 hitouts and kicked 1.3.

North Melbourne

North had a 99-72 win over the Gold Coast Suns to make it 2 from 2 for caretaker coach Rhys Shaw. Tarryn Thomas (MID/FWD, $312,700) won the Round 12 Rising Star nomination with 12 disposals, 3 marks and 2 goals for 109 SCPoints. Luke Davies-Uniacke (MID, $301,600) finished with 14 disposals and 3 marks for 54 SCPoints. Sam Durdin (DEF, $202,300) had 6 disposals, 2 marks and 38 SCPoints.

North Melbourne had a 123-70 loss to Williamstown in their VFL match. Lachlan Hosie (FWD, $102,400) kicked 2.2 with 9 disposals, 5 marks and 4 tackles and Joel Crocker (DEF/FWD, $117,300) had 21 disposals, 5 marks and 6 rebound 50’s.

Richmond

Not the greatest game for Richmond, who went down 104-37 against Geelong. Patrick Naish (DEF, $123,900) made his AFL debut and had 20 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles and 5 inside 50’s for 78 SCPoints. Liam Baker (FWD, $373,200) had 13 disposals, 3 marks and 5 tackles for 50 SCPoints. His BE is 87 this week, but with Richmond having their bye next week you can probably keep him for one more if you need an available player. Sydney Stack (MID, $367,500) had 12 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles for 70 SCPoints, with a BE of 42 this week. Noah Balta (FWD, $310,900) had 7 disposals and 5 marks for 29 SCPoints, now that he’s had scores of 47 and 29 in the last fortnight his BE has jumped up to 109, which probably guarantees he loses a decent chunk of money.

Richmonds VFL side had a 86-63 win over Geelong. Fraser Turner (MID, $117,300) had 26 disposals, 4 marks and a goal, Shai Bolton (FWD, $286,600) had 25 disposals, 4 marks, 11 tackles and a goal and Mabior Chol (FWD, $102,400) kicked 2 goals with 15 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles and 22 hitouts

St Kilda

St Kilda had the bye in the AFL, as did Sandringham in the VFL.

Western Bulldogs

The Western Bulldogs and the Footscray Bulldogs both had byes last week.

South Australia

Adelaide

A hot final quarter got Adelaide a 82-61 win over GWS at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night. Reilly O’Brien (RUC, $402,300) had a great game with 17 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 6 inside 50’s, 9 clearances and 29 hitouts for 104 SCPoints. His BE is 84 this week, which is achievable, but with Gawn and Grundy having the bye this week he’ll be a handy guy to keep for at least one more week.

Adelaide’s reserve side gave themselves a bit of a scare with a 72-66 win over West Adelaide. Patrick Wilson had 38 disposals, 8 marks and 4 tackles, Jordan Butts had 23 disposals and 11 marks, Ben Davis had 22 disposals and 12 marks and Shane McAdam kicked 1.3 with 18 disposals, 9 marks and 3 tackles.

Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide had a bye in the AFL this week.

The Port Adelaide Magpies still had to go to work this week, which resulted in a 85-65 win over Sturt. Willem Drew had 29 disposals, 5 marks, 8 tackles and 2 goals, Boyd Woodcock had 23 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal and Peter Ladhams had 19 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles and 46 hitouts.

Western Australia

Fremantle

Fremantle had the bye in the AFL and the Peel Thunder had the bye in the WAFL last week.

West Coast

Inaccurate goal kicking hurt the Eagles in the second half, who lost to 116-71 to Sydney in Sydney. Josh Smith (FWD, $244,300) had 10 disposals and 2 marks for 49 SCPoints while Josh Rotham (DEF, $177,700) made his return for 10 disposals and 6 marks for 40 SCPoints. Jack Petruccelle (FWD, $244,100) had 6 disposals and 2 marks for 36 SCPoints.

West Coast had a 72-36 loss to West Perth in their WAFL match. Jarrod Cameron (MID/FWD, $117,300) kicked 1.1 with 9 disposals and 7 tackles, Keegan Brooksby (RUC, $202,700) had 21 disposals, 2 marks, 8 tackles and 48 hitouts and Matthew Allen (MID/FWD, $123,900) had 24 disposals, 9 marks and 2 tackles.

New South Wales

GWS

It was pretty even for the first 3 quarters, but GWS fell short in the final quarter, going down 82-61 to Adelaide. Isaac Cumming (DEF, $230,200) finished with 9 disposals, 2 marks and 2 tackles for 36 SCPoints.

The UWS Giants defeated Sydney 101-76 in their Round 10 NEAFL matchup. Jackson Hately (MID, $148,800) had a team high 23 disposals, 9 marks and 6 tackles and a goal, Nick Shipley (MID, $130,300) had 21 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles and a goal and Xavier O’Halloran (MID, $117,300) had 21 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles and 6 inside 50’s.

Sydney

Sydney had a very strong second half, kicking 9 goals to 4 to take a 116-71 win over West Coast. Nick Blakey (FWD, $242,400) had 9 disposals, 2 marks and 3 tackles for 40 SCPoints and Colin O’Riordan (DEF, $256,800) had 4 disposals and 1 mark for 30 SCPoints. James Rose (FWD, $165,000) played just his 10th AFL game in 5 years, finishing with 15 disposals, 3 marks, 4 clearances and a goal for 47 SCPoints.

Sydney’s reserves side had a 101-76 loss to the UWS Giants. Sam Wicks (MID/FWD, $102,400) had 34 disposals, 3 marks, 7 tackles and 2 behinds, James Rowbottom ($MID, $131,600) had 31 disposals, 3 marks and 6 tackles and Darcy Cameron (RUC, $135,700) kicked a goal with 20 disposals, 6 marks, 7 tackles and 25 hitouts.

Queensland

Brisbane

Only 3 goals in the second half led Brisbane to suffering a 78-63 loss to Brisbane on Saturday afternoon. Noah Answerth (DEF/MID, $237,000) had 12 disposals and 6 marks for 33 SCPoints. Jacob Allison (DEF, $198,300) finished with 11 disposals, 3 marks and a goal for 75 SCPoints. Archie Smith (RUC, $172,300) had 8 disposals, 2 tackles and 14 hitouts for 44 SCPoints and Lincoln McCarthy (FWD, $294,900) had 7 disposals, 2 tackles and a goal for 57 SCPoints. Brisbane have the bye this week, so not a lot to be gained from these blokes.

Brisbane defeated the Gold Coast 69-39 in the NEAFL derby. Connor McFadyen (MID/FWD, $117,300) had 3 goals with 15 disposals and 8 marks, Toby Wooller (FWD, $123,900) had 2 goals with 12 disposals, 5 marks and Corey Lyons ($123,900) had 27 disposals, 9 marks and 2 tackles.

Gold Coast

A slow first half hurt the Suns, losing 99-72 to North Melbourne. Jack Lukosius (FWD, $193,800) had 12 disposals, 6 marks and a goal for 59 SCPoints. Ben King (FWD, $172,200) had 8 disposals, 3 marks and 2 goals for 43 SCPoints. Chris Burgess (DEF/FWD, $189,300) finished with 8 disposals, 3 marks and 3 rebound 50’s for 72 SCPoints (I dunno how!) and Josh Corbett (FWD, $210,200) had 5 disposals, 3 marks and 10 SCPoints.

The Gold Coast Reserves had a 69-39 loss to Brisbane in their NEAFL match. Jez McLennan (DEF, $117,300) had 19 disposals, 8 marks and 4 rebounds and Tom Nicholls (RUC, $224,000) had 14 disposals, 2 marks, 6 tackles, 33 hitouts and a goal.

Is Ziebell a decent pick now Higgins is down for the count?

    Russty_ · 11/06/2019 at 22:19

You'd hope he stays in the mids now Rick, he had some nice tons this year ,3 stinkers too though.

Big G · 11/06/2019 at 19:23

What's Dylan Clarke's job security really like?

    Woosha · 11/06/2019 at 20:30

Poor, 1 bad game and I’ll drop him

    Russty_ · 11/06/2019 at 22:16

Saw on AFL Tonight, Woosha said he's not sure if they need to use a tagger week to week, I'd say shaky js.

      Rocksta_ · 12/06/2019 at 00:40

We’ll know this week I guess. Not sure anybody at Hawthorn needs to be tagged. That said, it’s a game that Essendon could potentially win so it wouldn’t hurt having a shutdown player. I understand Clarke can get it a bit himself as well.

JohnDJ59 · 11/06/2019 at 20:47

Drew seems to be playing well Barron, any chance he gets a recall, I still have him, but I might have to trade him out if he doesn't get a game soon.

Steeeve · 11/06/2019 at 22:52

Who else is bringing in Naish, Gardner etc if named? Or maybe even if they're not? Gotta build the war chest.

    Russty_ · 11/06/2019 at 23:58

Hey Steeeve, brought in Gardner before he'd played a game for some strange reason, will probably have to bring in Naish this week to field 18..if named.
With Shiel, Stringer and possibly Oraaaaaaazio coming back in this week, Clarke might struggle to keep his spot.
Bewley hasn't been all that impressive but apparently he's better than that.
I think Gardner would've gone better if it was actually in the Dog's fwd line more last game. He started well.

    redherringfc · 12/06/2019 at 18:16

There’s lots of 1 game rookies I’m looking at, but I’m not feeling very good about any of them.

If Hately gets named, I’ll grab him and maybe Naish/Gardner so I can do an upgrade.
