Who’s Your Captain? – Round 10
Top VICE CAPTAIN Options
Friday Night vs Sydney – AVG vs Team: 103.6
With a score of 167 last time Grundy came up against the Swans, and 103.6 average over his career, Grundy has to be seriously considered. Most weeks you can put the C or VC on Grundy and this week is no different.
Friday Night vs Collingwood – AVG vs Team: 95.8
Last week we saw the epic return of Jake Lloyd. He usually scores well against the Pies with a 114, 99 and 128 in his past three outings against last years grand finalists. Back at the SCG he’s sure to be a chance to produce a score worth seriously thinking about.
Early Saturday vs Hawthorn – AVG vs Team: 101.7
Averaging 113.7 for the year and on track to be one of the top midfielders and possible the top forward for the year. A huge chance to go big against the rebuilding Hawthorn outfit.
Saturday vs North Melbourne – AVG vs Team: 115.3
Scored a 153 the last time these two teams met and looks to have found his form again with a 124 and 135 in recent weeks. Loves playing at Marvel Stadium and up against the Kangaroos, a winning combination.
Saturday vs Adelaide – AVG vs Team: 80.8
The Eagles captain went absolutely berserk against the Demons last week and is poised to do it all again in Adelaide. These new rules really seem to suit Hurn, and it’s boosted his SuperCoach output and he is now a must-have defender, scoring Captain worthy scores most weeks.
VICE CAPTAIN Smokey
Saturday vs West Coast – AVG vs Team: 84.7
How will he go with Brown, Smith and Milera all likely to come back into the team? Does that free him up, or does a shared points situation start to happen? Scored a 111 last time these two teams met but has the ability to go bigger and who knows, maybe he does it against the Eagles.
TOP CAPTAIN Options
Saturday Night vs Gold Coast – AVG vs Team: 124.6
Assuming he plays, I expect Dangerfield to score massive here. Gold Coast give up the most points to midfielders and Dangerfield would be one of the beneficiaries of this. Scored a whopping 187 the last time these two teams met. Imagine if he did it again.
Saturday Night vs Gold Coast – AVG vs Team: 108.5
I could write the same as I did for Dangerfield here, except Kelly hasn’t had the same great history against the Suns. He is however the in form midfielder for the Cats at present and could go massive in Dangerfield’s place. Scored a 130 last time he played at Metricon Stadium.
Saturday Night vs Richmond – AVG vs Team: 90.4
Averaging 114 at the MCG this year, and would be a good POD option for captain. Scored a 90 and a 102 the last couple of times he’s met the Tigers so he’ll need to be better if we’re to put our trust in him. An option though.
Sunday vs Melbourne – AVG vs Team: 81.6
I couldn’t ignore him after last week’s performance. Came back and scored a 170 like he’d never skipped a beat. Could go huge against the Demons, especially if Zac Williams doesn’t get up, he could resume his rebounding role he did with aplomb last year.
Sunday vs GWS – AVG vs Team: 105.9
Has scored 160 and 156 in his past two outings against the Giants. Like Grundy, you can put the VC or C on Gawn most weeks, and this week is no different. Has the come under serious consideration.
Sunday vs St Kilda – AVG vs Team: 139.8
Never a score below 90 against the Saints has Cripps scored. 156 and 157 the last two times the Carlton captain has come up against the Saints, and after being clamped by de Boer last week, Cripps will want to let loose.
Sunday Twilight vs Fremantle – AVG vs Team: 0.0
Fremantle will wish they dug their heels in a bit more at the trade table I reckon after this Sunday. It’s always goes two ways when a player goes up against their old side. They either cripple under the pressure, or come out of the blocks to prove a point. I have a feeling Neale will do more of the latter. Not an unfamiliar venue either, Averages 112 at Optus Stadium.
Sunday Twilight vs Brisbane – AVG vs Team: 88.8
It was this corresponding fixture last year where Fyfe had to sit out for much of the second half with a hamstring issue. Scored a 43 in almost a half of footy last time these two teams met though and he must enter your calculations. The Dockers captain averages 118 at Optus Stadium.
VICE CAPTAIN Smokey
Sunday vs GWS – AVG vs Team: 97.3
In any other season I would call Clarry a captaincy option, but there’s something a bit off about the fiery Demons midfielder this year. A 110.3 average flatters him, and a match up against Matt de Boer likely awaits him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes nuts against the Giants at the ‘G and scores big.
