Supercoach Cheat Sheet | Round 4

Published by Community Member on

Afternoon Community,

I’m guessing you’re in one of two camps this week? A) My SC team is perfect, I traded Dusty to Neale last week, and all my rookies are making cash, or B) I traded Heeney to Rockliff/Fyfe and Balta is my best rookie.

Whichever way you sit right now, there’s still a chance to turn it all around before the season ends.

In this week’s cheat sheet, I’ve outlined a couple of players on the bubble, a few MPRs and fallen angels to watch (maybe not buy this week, but in a few weeks), and a few former falling premos that are still in a high percentage of teams that you should offload as soon as possible.

Experts always warn against trading out premos as much as possible, but sometimes you just need to “know when to fold ’em” (cue Kenny Rogers’ the Gambler).

I held Hibberd for way too long last year, like many of you, and I’m not getting burnt again. If you do trade out premos, remember to try and trade like for like. If you downgrade at this stage, you’ll still need to upgrade them later at the expense of another trade.

Good luck this week, MattyB.

Community's thoughts on dusty – Merrett? Bit left field but strapped for cash. Looked quite good against the dees. Could he replicate his back half of 2018 form?

    Gary · 10/04/2019 at 21:49

Luckily I traded Dusty to Neale after round 2. Just didn't like the body language and lack of effort against Greenwood tag.

      Russty_ · 10/04/2019 at 22:05

      Nicceee Garryyyyy

      Soothsayer · 10/04/2019 at 22:14

I traded out dusty for brad Crouch before round 1. No regrets yet.

    MattyB_76 · 11/04/2019 at 09:44

Not a bad trade. I need to make the same decision, Tommy. I'm tossing up Dusty to either Merrett or Brayshaw at the moment. I got burned last year starting Merrett and traded him before he came home strong. Merrett is also in less teams right now, so may be a bit of a POD.

CJay · 10/04/2019 at 21:03

Thanks Matty.

What are we to do with Hore?
Stuck on 1 game and EMG this week.
Trade to Lockhart or hold?

    Russty_ · 10/04/2019 at 22:50

Dunno if Lockhart's worth trading to…Wagner could be if he keeps his gig.

    MattyB_76 · 11/04/2019 at 09:49

I traded Hore to Scrimshaw last week. Personally I don't see him getting many games, especially if he can't crack the team that's missing May and Lever. And does Lockhart have the same issue with Job security when they both come back?

BUT trades are also worth something. You don't need to have every rookie making money each week. At some point, you want to trade your increased rookies down to cheaper ones. If you've got at least one performing rookie on the bench (assume you have a few of Clark, Duursma, Collins, Scrimshaw), you can just leave him there and save 2 trades for the season.

      CJay · 11/04/2019 at 13:05

      Thanks Matty,
Think I will just hold Hore for now and use as a loop for the other rookies

        kinglear009 · 12/04/2019 at 23:06

        Aged magnificently

Russty_ · 10/04/2019 at 21:22

Thanks Matty, Stewart's been a nice surprise this year, didn't start with him but wish I had now, he's looking like a solid improver.
Can't wait to see how Marshall pans out too, wouldn't have the goolies to start him though.

    Ando · 11/04/2019 at 08:13

When is Zach Tuohy scheduled to be back? Will be interesting to see if that affects his output.

      MattyB_76 · 11/04/2019 at 09:55

Good point Ando, but Avg 85 last year only missing 1 game. He also had 7 tons, and 3 x 95s. About to hit 50 games (albeit a bit older than most 50 gamers at 26 years) so is in the perfect position to take it to the top level.

Tuohy avg 85 also in 2018, had 3 tons, and 7 x 90s. I think Tuohy's output is pretty stable, but Stewart's is on the way up still.

        Ando · 11/04/2019 at 13:52

Thanks for that MattyB. I guess we'll find out!

Joe_T · 10/04/2019 at 21:50

Cheers Matty, in a real dilemma with Hoff. I've got him in as ruck cover in case one of the big two go down so think holding him for that purpose only makes sense. But that's a lot of $$ on a cover player.

Ignoring the above and looking at him purely as a FWD, if i trade him out I gotta bring in a keeper. Is there anyone that looks like a FWD keeper at the moment aside from Danger, Kelly and Heeney?

    Russty_ · 10/04/2019 at 22:04

Boak, Dahlhaus, Daniel…all going ok so far…could change as the season progresses.

    JohnDJ59 · 10/04/2019 at 22:27

Boak and Dahlhaus for me, plus a player I had in my team till he was injured, in Wingard, will be interesting to see how he goes at the Hawks.

    Joe_T · 10/04/2019 at 23:50

I really like Boak, but it's been years since he's kept up a decent enough average to be a top 6-8 fwd. And with Dahl I'm wary of having multiple players from the same team, especially before the bye rounds.

I guess the real question is, if there's no clear standout FWD who clearly looks like they'll finish top 6-8 fwd, is it still worth trading him out on a punt or should I hold and treat him as ruck cover?

    MattyB_76 · 11/04/2019 at 10:03

Magic 8 ball says: "It's too early to tell".

The 3 you mentioned are definitely keepers, but beyond that it's not clear yet who's gonna be top 6-8 Fwds. I agree that the Hoff is a lot of money for "cover", but he'll make you good forward points in the mean time until the premos become clear. Then sideways trade knowing it's only cost you 1 trade.

      Joe_T · 11/04/2019 at 18:38

Cheers Matty, that was my line of thinking really. Hopefully one of the top premos will fall enough to be similarly priced to Hoff around byes, where there's a clearer picture of which FWDs are looking good

Soothsayer · 10/04/2019 at 22:09

Thanks Matty, Libba is tempting me, I can swap Cousins straight over and get him in. I remember having him in past years and then…….trading him out injured. Will it happen again? Will he give me hundreds before he goes?

    MattyB_76 · 11/04/2019 at 10:09

Dunno about Libba. You are right, he was flying in 2016 and 2017 until injury and form struck him down quickly. And that is a large sticking point for me. I don't have him and won't try to get him.

But he's got a -55 BE this week so he will make money for you, and he could be a stepping stone to another player.

      Soothsayer · 11/04/2019 at 15:47

Thanks Matty, I let him sit there in my midfield overnight and now I don’t like the look of him there. Come end of season I will need Neale, Macrae and whoever else goes large late season. That probably won’t be Libba.

Higgo · 10/04/2019 at 22:14

Should I trade Rocky to Neale as I have the extra cash to make the trade?

    Russty_ · 10/04/2019 at 22:31

Rocky's probably gonna play this week though, anyone else you could cull for Neale?…an expendable possible breakout mid who isn't living up to expectations.

      Lazza · 11/04/2019 at 14:50

I think you just described Rocky MKVI …"an expendable possible 'repeat' breakout mid who isn't living up to expectations" …. .was on his way to score under 60 when he copped the hit last week…

Hawks · 10/04/2019 at 22:45

Is it worth trading Setterfield to Rozee or has that ship sailed.

I see Rozee will likely make 100k over the next 3 weeks vs Setterfields 30k. Bonus would be able to swing Rozee to defence with Moore.

    Danners · 11/04/2019 at 12:13

Maybe go the other direction, down to Lockhart to Wagner. Could make a similar amount of coin in that time. Rozee will only make $100k if he averages 85+ which seems unlikely

Nozzy · 10/04/2019 at 23:47

Is it worth trading Setterfield to Rozee even after his huge price rise?

    Nozzy · 11/04/2019 at 01:55

Just realized exact same question posted above!

Simon · 11/04/2019 at 07:27

What to do with jack darling?
Any ideas

    Simon · 11/04/2019 at 07:34

    Thinking of
Darling and settlefield our for de goey and wagner

      KSinny · 11/04/2019 at 09:15

      Don't trade in Degoey

Kevdup · 11/04/2019 at 08:47

Hey guys, I have Darling, he doesn't look to me like the darling of 2018. Anyone else considering trading him? I'm considering Marshall for some cash! Cheers

TOPHAWK1 · 11/04/2019 at 09:06

Fyfe sent out a tweet last night telling everybody he will not be playing in the Derby this week. It was the last sentence in his message that caught my eye. It read, "P.S Pls don't trade me out of your super coach teams". Is he trying to tell the community something? Keep the faith guys because when I come back I am gonna go huge?? Do we believe him? Right now he is not in my team any more. Maybe I need to hit the trade reverse button and bring him back in. What are others doing?

    Saritz · 11/04/2019 at 09:11

    Shake_n_bake · 11/04/2019 at 12:04

Week out will probably drop another 30k in his 1st week back cant really on my bench…gone….for now.

    Soothsayer · 11/04/2019 at 15:51

He and Neale keep swapping places at my M2. It’s very easy to get sucked into financial decisions early in the year; and trades that burn out as a result

    Russty_ · 11/04/2019 at 17:12

Just gonna hold Hawk..don't want to have to bring him back in again later, just seems like a waste.

    Goldy · 12/04/2019 at 17:27

    gotta hold Mr life

comonyouspurs · 11/04/2019 at 09:19

I haven't made any trades yet and am pretty sorted with injuries and rookies. Have $86k in the bank.
The only trade I am looking at this week is to offload Dunkley. He is suffering from playing less minutes in the midfield.
I was thinking Dunkley to Kelly, but TK might not even play this week.
Should I just hold Dunkley and hope he comes good or bring Kelly in or someone else?

Daniel · 11/04/2019 at 10:26

Thoughts on trading Joel Selwood out this week, I currently have 27 trades and have got rid of greene/dusty and hore already, here is my team;

Def: Lloyd/Laird/Williams/Smith/Duursma/Scrimshaw/Clark/Burgess
Mids: Cripps/Neale/Selwood/M.Crouch/Libba/Walsh/Constable/Butters/Atkins/Scott/Gibbons

If I decide to trade him out, who are the best options to go for, can get any premo in from any posiition thanks to DPP swings?

Swoopsta · 11/04/2019 at 10:57

Hi Guys,
Don't think the punt i took on Harris Andrews will pay off.
Thoughts on trading H Andrews > T Stewart? Will also have to go early with McKay > Stack (via DPPs) for the extra $$$ needed.

Def: Laird , Hurn , Andrews , Duursma , Scrimshaw , Clark (McKay , Hore)
Mid: Macrae , Cripps , Fyfe , Oliver , M.Crouch, Rockliff , Constable , Drew (Butters , Scott , Gibbons)
Rck: Grundy , Gawn (Bines)
Fwd: Danger , R.Gray , Moore , Parker , Setterfield , Petruccelle (Burgess , Balta)

    Bob · 11/04/2019 at 14:23

    Andrews to lloyd

      Swoopsta · 11/04/2019 at 16:03

      Don't have the money unfortunately

        Russty_ · 11/04/2019 at 17:14

I think if you trade him Swoopsta, he'll ton up this week, that's the way supercoach works lol
He's a good player, he'll come good and Stewart could end up dropping off soon.

RonJeremy · 11/04/2019 at 12:45

Go early on Stack?

    Nozzy · 11/04/2019 at 13:04

    No wait one more round.

Plugga · 11/04/2019 at 13:09

Drew and settlefield our for stack and rozee

Is it worth it

    redherringfc · 11/04/2019 at 14:19

You will be making 2 trades for virtually no financial gain.

Have another look at Stack this week. Next week you could bring him in, but don’t do it for a rookie who still has a lot of money to make.

FearTheBeard · 11/04/2019 at 14:45

Rocky worth cutting to Libba?

    Soothsayer · 11/04/2019 at 15:53

I feel like that is just swapping humps on the same camel

    ROB14 · 11/04/2019 at 17:14

Keep rocky, should destroy the midfield-less tigers!

PeeJay · 11/04/2019 at 18:22

Should have traded Dusty last week but didn’t. Tempted to trade him for Libba and keep as M8 or 9. Thoughts?

Steeeve · 11/04/2019 at 22:16

Not taking my VC score. Tossing up between Grundy, Criops or Macrae for the C. Who do you think?

    Russty_ · 11/04/2019 at 22:42

I'd go Grundy Steve…against English, who plays like an Englishman.

asteris222 · 12/04/2019 at 22:48

cool <img src="; width="1">

T-Bone · 12/04/2019 at 23:26

Thoughts on Harris Andrews?

I was backing him in to average 95-100 this season but after last weeks 40 I’m worried if he drops a few more of those he’s more likely to only average 85-90 which is not what a want from a keeper in defence.

Have the cash to do a straight swap to Ryan or Stewart.

Can downgrade Brodie smith to Rozee and upgrade to Whitfield this week or Lloyd next week. Rozee forecast to increase by $120k in next 3 weeks which would make him around $400k so trading smith gives me the cash to upgrade now bit should also net me cash from a decent scoring rookie….. thoughts?

SteveBaxter · 13/04/2019 at 08:56

I have one really pressing question and I hope someone can answer this. How long does it take for a rookie that averages sixty to reach $300000? And if either they don’t reach it or it takes a long time how long until their cash increase falters?
