PODCAST | Panic at the Premo

Published by Patch on

It’s all come down to this. It’s less than four sleeps until lockout, and all the plans we’ve carefully put into action are slightly falling apart. But don’t be frightened, for Lek, Damo and Patch are here to guide you through the darkness and into the light of round one.

There’s a Panic in the premos – but stop. Trust your gut. Don’t make last minute changes. Back the process in. Back your guns.

On the rookie front however BOY OH BOY. It’s becoming interesting and there are precious few numbers. The lads run through them and give a final word of advice on the fables F3 slot.

Remember to check out the reviews of EVERY SINGLE JLT game, all the scores, all the team pickers, all the everything all over the website and jump into the Rate My Team Megathread and tell us who you’re picking.

Hey guys just some last minute thoughts about the team?

DEF: Lloyd, Laird, Williams, Smith, Scrimshaw, Clarke ( Greaves, Hore)
MID: Macrae, Crippa, Oliver, Neale, M Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Duursma ( Constable, Atkins, Gibbons )
RUC: Gawn, Goldy ( Sweet )
FWD: Danger, Heeney, Billings, Setterfield, Drew, Petruccelle ( Parker, Cotrell )

Foward like is lacking but Defence and Mids will make up the points I hope. Much appreciated guys

    Nice_Person · 19/03/2019 at 07:37

With goldy at r2 you'd want to have a stronger fwd line

    Carl · 19/03/2019 at 07:58

Very similar structure myself minus Smith in defense for me. Like it Sellars

    Lekdog · 19/03/2019 at 09:39

I like the deeper defence, god I hope Billings works for you

      Sellars1226 · 19/03/2019 at 09:57

Me too Lek..Surely he cant have 2 bad years in a row.

      Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:00

Billings cost me a top 3 finish. Never again haha

    Ross · 20/03/2019 at 01:48

Al Clarkson came out and said some comments towards Scrimshaw this week which recently which i think puts him in doubt for alot of game time and their plans for him this season. I think better going with Collins or Burgess who have their spot locked and will play week in/out

      Bells · 20/03/2019 at 09:14

They may as well play him, they aren't doing Jack Sheet without Mitchell anyways. Development year. I reckon he gets 10 games for sure.

Hey guys, just after some tips on my team, it currently sits

Def: R.Laird, S.Hurn, Z.Williams, B.Smith, S.Collins, J.Clark (J.Scrimshaw, X.Duursma)
Mid: P.Cripps, C.Oliver, S.Coniglio, M.Crouch, J.Lyons, S.Walsh, Z.Butters, L.Stocker (C.Constable, B.Scott, M.Gibbons)
Ruck: B.Grundy, R.Goldstein (Z.Clarke)
Fwd: P.Dangerfield, D.Smith, I.Heeney, W.Setterfield, N.Balta, J.Petruccelle (I.Hill, M.Parker)

40k remaining in the kitty
Rookies subject to change after team announcements

Biggest problem is probably the fwd line

    Lekdog · 19/03/2019 at 09:40

Lyons POD! If we get enough rookies I don't mind this side at all

    Derek · 19/03/2019 at 10:37

Stocker is a fair way off getting a game

      Lekdog · 19/03/2019 at 15:50

    Matt · 19/03/2019 at 19:04

    Good old Rodd Goldstein

magic mullet · 19/03/2019 at 09:05

which is better

Walsh and b crouch

Atkins and o'meara (Atkins will be benched for constable)

    Lekdog · 19/03/2019 at 09:40

    Derek · 19/03/2019 at 10:39

Atkins will be lucky to play, walsh is a gun. the other two are similar output

    Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:01

    Walsh and crouch

    Dermin8r · 19/03/2019 at 22:48

my brain keeps urging me to swap JOM out of my team, but my gut tells me that this will be his break out season (105+ avg)…He is the only Hawk in my side, but I can't shake the feeling that this will be the year he plays 22 games and kills it in the midfield

neil demons delight · 19/03/2019 at 09:20

If we want Grawndy then its simple ,either a strong F4 or F3 .I have gone a strong F4 Dunkley Can[t have them all Top Pod boys helpful as usual

    Derek · 19/03/2019 at 10:41

my compromise is to go Merrett instead of Macrae. can't have them all (to start with)

Bags · 19/03/2019 at 09:47

Hey guys, what’s the ideal bye structure? It’s looking like I could have 7-8 out in round 13 (hurn, crisp, Oliver, Gawn, Grundy, Danger, heeney and potentially de goey. Is that too many?

    Such is Fyfe · 19/03/2019 at 11:53

    3 – 5 – 6 or 4 – 4 – 6, logic adding two premos last bye round

COREYSC · 19/03/2019 at 09:54

180k In Bank and I don’t really know what to do with it?

Lloyd, Z.Williams, B.Smith, Collins, Clark Duursma (Burgess, Hore)

(B.Scott, Atkins, Gibbons)

Grundy, Gawn (Sweet)

Dangerfield, Heeney, Dunkley, Greene, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle, Parker)

Thoughts on my team community?

    It’s a good team!

    Dermin8r · 19/03/2019 at 22:54

you could upgrade T Green to Angus Brayshaw, just a thought

    Bells · 20/03/2019 at 09:17

No discussion on Rozee? Or did I miss it?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 19:13

He didn't have the best JLT and he's expensive so he's probably in the back of people's minds but Rozee, Butters, Drew and Duursma are all confirmed to take on the Demons.

      Locked and Loaded · 20/03/2019 at 02:15

Ok was wondering thanks… his high price is putting me off but a fwd rookie who has JS seems priceless right now

Madman · 19/03/2019 at 11:18

Hey guys just looking for any tips on my team. Decided to go with some very common picks in a completely unique setup. Know it’s risky but am keen for some carnage. Could win the whole thing, could finish way back in the pack but want to have some fun with it. Any advice on specific players would be helpful. Not keen on Libba but can’t figure out who to replace him with.

DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Smith, Ridley, Clark (Duursma, Hore)

MID: Macrae, Oilver, Coniglio, M. Crouch, B. Crouch, Libba, Walsh, Butters (Bewley, Scott, Gibbons)

RUCK: Goldstein, Pierce (Sweet)

FWD: Dangerfield, Heeney, Dunkley, Kelly, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle, Parker)

Cheers for the podcast guys. Keep up the great work!

    Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:31

Too light in the ruck department. You need at least one of gawn or grundy (if playing for rank) if not both.

      Madman · 19/03/2019 at 11:45

Libba & Goldstein to Constable & Grundy?

        Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:58

Can you go pierce to gawn and downgrade f3/f4 to a rook?

          madman · 19/03/2019 at 20:47

I would prefer not to downgrade to a rookie at f4 as I would leak too many points

    KSinny · 19/03/2019 at 12:06

Maybe downgrade Kelly or Dunkley to either Moore or a rookie and Ridley to Collins then Goldy to Grundy or Gawn

Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:27

Kelly, mundy, dunkley or other at F3? Also questioning Moore at F4. Decisions decisions lol.

    Danners · 19/03/2019 at 12:28

F3 is definitely a tough spot. Mundy I feel is ageing a bit could still average well though, Kelly I feel will be a bit inconsistent, and Dunkley currently my F3 could be played anywhere. Moore though, I can't see scoring well enough or making enough coin

      Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 12:38

Forwards are tough as usual. I can't see any other forward rookies playing long enough to make coin. Balta will be dropped as soon as lynch is fit etc.

        DavidC · 20/03/2019 at 14:04

Lynch is playing R1, if Balta plays he should be a safe pick.

    Hardy · 21/03/2019 at 22:24

TelescopicCox · 19/03/2019 at 11:27

Any feedback fellas?

B – Lloyd, Crisp, Williams, Clark, Duursma, Hore (Burgess Joyce)
M – Macrae, Cripps, Treloar, Coniglio, M.Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Scott (Constable Atkins Gibbons)
R – Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
F – Danger, Heeney, Darling, Moore, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle Parker)

16K left

Not sold on the rookie exposure down back, but I can make some moves with my premos to bring in Brodie Smith at D4 for assurance

    Madman · 19/03/2019 at 11:52

Add in Smith or Ridley. Going to cop too many low scores early with that defence

TelescopicCox · 19/03/2019 at 11:27

Also anyone have spots in a draft league? I'm keen and can draft tonight or tomorrow. Especially a keeper league if someone has one

TommyC99 · 19/03/2019 at 11:33

Hey lads, what do we think we should be aiming for in terms of ideal bye structure? Obviously its easier and far more convenient to just ignore them but come bye time, i will be regretting not planning for them at least a little bit

    Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 11:35

Last season I didn't plan for the byes. I just dealt with it as it came. Made sure I had enough trades to get me through though. Finished 5th so I guess it worked out for me :p

      TommyC99 · 19/03/2019 at 12:04

Fair enough mate ahaha. Do you reckon 8 from one bye round too many?

        Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 12:11

I tried checking my team from last season to see what I had during the byes but don't see to be able to, but in round 12 I only scored 1583, so I imagine I had a fair few out that round!

        The Ranger · 19/03/2019 at 13:29

Forget the rookies Tommy, just try and spread your starting keepers evenly if you can.
I only look at the byes in these last couple of weeks once I'm pretty locked in with my starting keepers and I'll only make a change if there is a keeper that I can happily swap to another that helps my bye structure.
At the moment I have 13 keepers and a spread of 5-4-4 over the byes.

          The Ranger · 19/03/2019 at 13:31

And if you haven't done it already use Matty's team picker now and thru the early part of the season to monitor your byes.

          TommyC99 · 19/03/2019 at 13:46

Yeah i have been mate. I have 7 premo keepers out in round 13, which is probably too many. But i dont wanna drop any of them so i think i'll keep them and just not trade for any of these bye teams until after their bye.

      COREYSC · 19/03/2019 at 12:06

      Love the flex TeddyπŸ‘πŸ»

        Teddy021 · 19/03/2019 at 16:27

The way I see it is, you want to get as many runs on the board as early as you can to capitalise on other people's poor starting selections etc etc. Chasing points later in the season is a lot harder when everyone ends up with the same premos. No point planning for 12 rounds down the track when the first 11 are harder to get right.

    Rick · 19/03/2019 at 12:53

Try to win 2/3 bye games. Very difficult to win all 3 and in trying to do so you may lose all 3 πŸ™

TheWizardOfOzz · 19/03/2019 at 11:56

The Coniglio song may have forced him into my side

Sellars1226 · 19/03/2019 at 12:19

Is Scrimshaw not gonna play?

    ross · 20/03/2019 at 01:55

Al Clarkson came out and discussed the younger players this week, and what he said kindve said there will be limited game time for the rookies etc. I think for the most part a lot of people took it that way. Its not a lock for the start of the season, probably safer to go to Collins or Burgess from the suns who will have game time guaranteed or just keep him on the bench.

What are your guys opinions on luke bruest as a POD

KSinny · 19/03/2019 at 12:32

Gawn and Grundy with 11k in the Bank or Gawn and Goldstein with 170k?

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 20:22

Gawn and Goldy with some bank

Stacky23 · 19/03/2019 at 12:50

walsh and no money at m7 or butters and 50k?

    KSinny · 19/03/2019 at 16:52

Walsh probably has better job security and looked really good.

    Bells · 20/03/2019 at 09:20

Butters if you are taking a few risks elsewhere – you'll need the cash. Might loose a few points – not too many but Butters will make good cash.

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:23

    Butters and 50k for sure

Wally Brando · 19/03/2019 at 13:11

Maverick_ · 19/03/2019 at 14:04

the only decision left is I am to finalise is my F4 Currently it’s Greene but I have been bullish on Higgins all Preseason at an awkward price of 390k. U18s avg of 144 and JLT was impressive. Probably my fav player to watch love his energy. Is there a spot in the tigers midfield for jack to have a second year break out?

    Rick Grimes · 19/03/2019 at 19:29

I'm pretty keen on him too. Just an awkward price. $50k less and I'd lock him in. Has been him or Vandenberg at F4 for me for few weeks.

      DavidC · 20/03/2019 at 14:10

Well scratch Vandenberg off your list, he's going to miss up to 4 weeks.

Clarky · 19/03/2019 at 14:14

Hey guys,

so my bye structure is quite uneven atm. Its looking like 2-7-4 which isnt ideal. But my round 13 premos are the ones i'm most confident in. Hurn, Crisp, Oliver, Gawn, Grundy, Danger and Heeney. Do i just stick with them and look to even it out with trades during the season or should i get rid of 1-2 of them to start more even?

    Sharkmove_King · 19/03/2019 at 14:46

No, that's fine you don't even have more than 2 per line

Brian · 19/03/2019 at 14:24

Thoughts on Elliot YEOOOO

    Northerner · 19/03/2019 at 15:44

He will be a very good selection this year. I can’t accomodate him as he’s another Rd 13 bye player and I already have 7!

    COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 16:37

    Get Lloyd

murray · 19/03/2019 at 16:34

Issue 1: Are coach's losing interest in Whitfield??? I dont see him in many teams.

A lot of teams I see are going with one of the big two (Lloyd or Laird) then Williams and Smith, making only 3 defenders & rookies
This can be achieveable because there are enough good rookies in the back line this year.

Issue 2: The big problem is the forward line, very few decent rookie picks on this line, so it might be better to go 3 defenders/ 3on field rookies and 4 premo fwds along with 2 onfield rookies.

What do you think about these 2 issues??
let me know

    Such is Fyfe · 19/03/2019 at 18:55

Issue 1 – Leon Cameron has said with Shaw & Williams coming back, Whitfield will be pushed back to the wing and even pushed forward. Uncertainty of role, I'd rather wait the season and see. He could still EASILY average 100 but uncertainty around the $540k price tag has pushed many coaches away.

Issue 2 – Feel ya 100% with forward line rookies. Decent scoring potential & JS I'd have Setterfield/Petreceulle, still decent JS but lower scoring potential would be Burges… then you'd have Parker as mature age still worthy of a bench spot and Drew with decent scoring potential but likely to be dropped once Wines comes back in round….. two.
Many are in the same boat, ideally try push a premo to F4 it will definitely be the area I target first for upgrades.

    Good luck for the season.

    Northerner · 19/03/2019 at 19:09

That’s my structure. 4 premos in fwds. Danger, Heeney, Dunkley and Boak. All midfield options. I was flirting with Darling F4 but too hard being Rd 13.

    JohnDJ59 · 19/03/2019 at 20:00

I'm going with Def 1-3-2 and Fwd 3-1-2

      Brn · 19/03/2019 at 20:15

Yeah better rookies ib defence means 3 on field in defence, f4 deep with premos. Gp9ng 4 deep in both def and fwd will mean the other more crucial lines suffer.

F4 doest gave to be am ultra fwd premo, a mid risk like Greene/Moore/Vandenberg (yes he is a good pick) should suffice

        DavidC · 20/03/2019 at 14:13

Don't think Vandenberg was a good pick but he's out now for a few weeks anyway.

    Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 14:39

Had Whitfield since day one. Proven scorer.

Thoughts on the Squad lads?
DEF: Laird, Hurn, Crisp, Collins, Scrimshaw, Clark, Duursma, Hore
MID: Macrae, Cripps, Coniglio, M Crouch, Brayshaw, Walsh, Butters, Constable, Scott, Atkins, Gibbons
RUC: Grundy, Gawn, Sweet
FWR: Danger, Heeney, Billings, Setterfield, Drew, Balta, Petrucelle, Parker

CJudd3Votes · 19/03/2019 at 17:15

Have Grundy at R1, backline is Laird, Whitfield, Williams, Clark and Duursma (Hore, Watson)
To complete these lines…

Brodie Smith and Goldstein
Rozee and Gawn

    kinglear009 · 22/03/2019 at 15:44

Think you'd have to go for Goldstein since he gives you another 80 avg on the field – and Rozee looks like a terrible investment. However, if any other rookie is available apart from Rozee, go for Gawn.

Mick · 19/03/2019 at 17:27

Hurn, Witherden, Williams, Collins, Scrim, Clark (Duursma, Burgess)
Cripps, Oliver, Cogs, M Crouch, Neale, Walsh, Butters, Const. (Scott, Atkins, Gibbons)
Grundy, Gawn (Sweet)
Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, D Moore, Setters, Drew. (Parker, Petrucelle)

Thoughts?? I’ve gone back and forth too many times and this is the side I keep coming back to.

Kinglear009 · 19/03/2019 at 17:33

Currently something that has my attention is the Westhoff Dilemna. No ruck cover this year makes Grawndy something of a massive liability if injury strikes – can't really have the donut.
The only truly SC relevant potential cover would be Westhoff. Has the handy Rd 12 bye, a fair fwd premium though unlikely to get the 100 this season.
If Gawn or Grundy skip a week, Westhoff pays for himself in saved trades/points. Unless you splurge on a likely ruck rookie now, it's something of a gamble we all must play this season.

    Brn · 19/03/2019 at 17:50

Most will take the gamble and even make a trade if out for many weeks. It is a good point though, but are we overthinking it to the point of picking a mediocre fwd? Also a good question to ask. If you think westoff will continue his 100odd average, by all means he is a great pick. I see him averaging low 90s, and just not worth the risk for me. Like i said, very valuable anf interesting take

      Northerner · 19/03/2019 at 19:13

I’m taking Bines in R3 which will allow an F5/F6 Ruck/FWD to emerge that you can trade to if say Grundy is out for one or 2 weeks. Could be Lycett rather than Westhoff.

    neil demons delight · 19/03/2019 at 19:15

I am with you King.I have had him for a long time.Number two forward last year why not i will take mid nineties NDD

    Sharkmove_King · 19/03/2019 at 20:31

Mid 90's would be top6 thereabouts. He is very durable too

BlueBaggerJosh · 19/03/2019 at 17:56

Seriously considering cuningham but his scoring could diminish with fasolo back in the side, thoughts?

Tigers · 19/03/2019 at 18:02

thoughts on J.Lyons and M.Walters?

    Northerner · 19/03/2019 at 19:14

      Brn · 19/03/2019 at 20:03

Walters a good pod. Not for me though

If zac clarke is named and is number 1 ruckman i might be bold and make him R2 to free up space for lyons in the mid at M6

Hey there Supercoach nation,
I'm looking for people to join my league (code – 874174). I have about 15 spots remaining, l would prefer people to join who are experienced or don't give up on their team half way through the season. Also how do you make the Phantom join your league?

Cheers guys.

DEF: J.Lloyd, S.Hurn, Z.Williams, J.Ridley, S.Collins, J.Clark (X.Duursma, M.Hore)
MID: P.Cripps, C.Oliver, D.Martin, M.Crouch, A.Miles, S.Walsh, Z.Butters, C.Constable (B.Scott, T.Atkins, M.Gibbons)
RUC: B.Grundy, T.Goldstein (P.Bines)
FWD: P.Dangerfield, D,Smith, I.Heeney, J.Higgins, W.Setterfield, W.Drew (J.Petruccelle, M.Parker)
Cash Remaining: $114,400

Any help would be appreciated!

    Dan · 20/03/2019 at 14:02

I like Hurn as a POD and your side is a good POD side, but you are carrying a fair bit of risk with Higgins and Miles at M5, might have to burn a trade to upgrade or correct later on, then again who isn't carrying risk at this stage with rookies being uncertain? Goodluck!

Whitey · 19/03/2019 at 19:24

Whats Walsh got to avg to be a successful pick?

    Rick Grimes · 19/03/2019 at 19:32

80 for me. I'm not overly worried about cash generation, just like to be able to hold him long-term while I sort other lines out. Last upgrade, like Cripps when he burst onto the scene.

    Liam · 19/03/2019 at 19:42

    75 would be successful

    Sharkmove_King · 19/03/2019 at 20:27

75 is about par I think. If he averaged that I don't think it will hurt you if you have him or if you don't. For that price I'd be happy with 70+ in any other position.

Funny, but I asked that exact question 6 weeks ago and boy did it get some negative responses. A couple of JLT games and have the people come around.

    Lazza · 19/03/2019 at 21:06

85+ to generate the $$ of the cheaper rookies …

      Lazza · 19/03/2019 at 21:17

No first year player has gotten near that playing a significant number of games in a season

Derek · 19/03/2019 at 19:33

I have had Merrett locked at M5 since the prices came out.

I can’t recall seeing him any other teams

Surely he is a top 8 mid?

    KeenButClueless · 19/03/2019 at 20:02

Two years as a solid choice 111 and 109. Back to 100 last year. I think he’s good for 105-110, so is not the worst pick, but is he top 8? He doesn’t give me the confidence that he will go 110+. I have confidence that the following players can MacRae, cripps, Oliver, Fyfe, Neale, Treloar, Martin, Coniglio and M Crouch. Think Merrett just behind that group

    TommyC99 · 19/03/2019 at 20:42

Before supercoach opened, i was huge on him, was in my starting side and thought he was going to have a mini breakout due to the attention being drawn to Shiel. But there are a few other options around his price in Crouch, Brayshaw, Bont and Dusty. PLus his lacklustre preseason has no doubt scared people off. I wanted to start him but not sure how i feel about 3 of my 5 mid premos being sub 570k, and would rather go for the tried and trusted premos of Cripps, Oliver and Fyfe. Am definitely targetting him around the byes if hes scoring well enough

    Doc_1 · 19/03/2019 at 20:47

Locked and loaded at M5 in the Destroyers Derek. He should kill it this year.

      Derek · 19/03/2019 at 22:51

I think 2 weeks in a moon boot scared everyone away

He had a rough start to year with a head knock.

After the byes was the third highest midfield with 113,9

        Derek · 19/03/2019 at 22:53

Jogged around for 30 mins in JLT1. Missed first quarter JLT2, came out and had 14 touches in 14 minutes in second quarter and then took it easy.

Shiel must make it easier for him this year

          DavidC · 20/03/2019 at 10:03

Merrett might be a little less inside this year, does that effect his scoring?

            Tom · 20/03/2019 at 11:57

Read his post above, had a head knock early, affected him the early part of the season. Absolutely dominated post bye as Derek said, no 3 mid averaging 113.

You’re getting him at a discount due to his compromised start to last season.

              Tom · 20/03/2019 at 11:58

              Lazza · 20/03/2019 at 12:13

On that basis Jack Riewoldt should be your F1.
Merrett will not out perform any of those starting as the Top 10, let alone Top 5. He just does not have their talent.
He will also be in a bottom 8 team.

                Twilightingale · 20/03/2019 at 16:59

2016 Merrett was the 10th ranked mid, 2017 the 11th ranked mid. Last year averaged those numbers during the 2nd half of the season.
What's not to like about him at his price? 2.5 out of the last 3 seasons he's been a top 10 mid

    Lazza · 19/03/2019 at 23:01

Hey Derek, Merrett wasn’t in the top 25 averages last year. Even Heppell out performed him. Can’t see him leapfrogging the top 15 and he has a few coming up behind him in Steele, BCrouch, Viney, JOM, Brayshaw. There is better value..

    Holty01 · 20/03/2019 at 01:50

I think his terrible form in JLT hasn’t helped. I had him b4 JLT started but not anymore. Problem at his price is Sloane, Martin and even Crouch(slightly more) have all impressed and are similar priced.

    Blueth · 20/03/2019 at 13:39

Watched him closely in the JLT's.
Looks unfit and not a great idea to pick players on a limited PS imo

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:25

Gun. It was him or M Crouch for me Derek and I've given the nod to Matty just

Brn · 19/03/2019 at 19:59

Can someone please direct me to the source that says scrimshaw is in doubt? Thought he would be a certainty given their team.

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 20:23

Can't remember where I saw it Brn but Clarko said the other day, he still needs some conditioning work.
Most recent things I've read suggest he'll start though.
The Hawks are missing a few due to injury, but that will open the door for James Cousins and Jack Scrimshaw to stake a claim in Alastair Clarkson’s side. Clarkson suggested Scrimshaw was on the cusp on selection, but he could make way for someone like Dylan Moore.

Saw that Wines is 2-3 weeks away. His return seems to be drifting a bit. At one stage he was touch and go on Round 1. It was this Round 2 return that really had me spooked. If it meant a Petrucelle or Parker onfield, I saw a good advantage not picking him. Maybe he’s coming back to being a reasonable pick.

Jivesy · 19/03/2019 at 21:11

Can anyone please verify something for me.
During the season I know that if you make a trade after the first game of the round has started it can't be reversed (I have been caught out before). Is this the same for round 1 or can you reverse trades because there are unlimited trades for the first round? Obviously you can't trade players once they have played.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    DEESNUTSRBIG · 19/03/2019 at 22:40

Trades are unlimited during round 1 as technically the player selected has never played a game until they are locked in (when the team plays)

TOPHAWK1 · 19/03/2019 at 21:18

I am seriously torn between Brad Crouch and Tom Rockliff at M6. Both not the most durable characters, both similarly priced, and both seriously good midfielders. I have room for only one. I am leaning towards Rocky, purely because he has had a great pre season campaign and has a seriously high point scoring ceiling. Thoughts?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 21:46

Hey Hawk, out of those 2 I'd go for Crouch just because he's in a much better team that could have a real crack at it this year…plus I think IF he stays fit, he's more likely to be more reliable than Rocky who can post wild scores, huge one week and crud the next.
Plus Crouch is still only 25.

    Dan · 20/03/2019 at 14:07

I agree with Rusty. I'm a Port man and I feel like Crouch will be more consistent than Rocky, particularly when Wines comes back. Both aren't very durable but Crouch has youth on his side at least. He will be eager to prove himself alongside his brother in a strong Crows outfit this year.

    Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 14:41

    Agree with Russty and Dan.

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:54

Have you got Libba Hawk? I's go him before Rocky or Crouch at his price

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:08

He has all 3 NL….I tried a side leaving Libba out but I think he's just too good for value this year.

        NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 20:10

Yeah cool. In that case I agree with you and it would be Crouch ahead of Rocky

Lazza · 19/03/2019 at 21:28

The first handful of rookies have been named to start R1.
Zac Butters
Xavier Duursma
Willem Drew
Connor Rozee
Bailey Smith
Chris Burgess
Jack Lukosius

    Sharkmove_King · 19/03/2019 at 21:45

Does that mean King (Gold Coast) won't play Lazza? Not that I want him, I'm just keeping track of their defenders to make a call on Collins

      Lazza · 19/03/2019 at 22:51

King wasn’t mentioned, and I’d assume he would have been called out given the other 2 have been. Though they don’t play till Sunday, and the squad is yet to be announced..

greg · 19/03/2019 at 21:48

Hey community, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here, your opinion would be appreciated.
my two options are:
grundy, brodie smith and Collins in def
goldy, harris Andrews and a cheaper rookie than Collins
I really like Andrews as a pod but feel like grundy is necessary. what are you're thoughts?

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 21:53

I'd wait and see on Andrews if he's gonna be playing fwd at times this year, obviously Grundy is better than Goldy, and Collins will play every week so I'd say option 1.

      greg · 19/03/2019 at 22:01

yeah didn't realise there was a potential for him going forward this year, cheers rusty

        Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 22:04

No worries greg, there was talk about it and he was even training in the fwd group, but that being said, Gardiner should be there for round 1, and Adams could be in there in 2 weeks so it's really up in the air at the moment.

dontblushbaby · 19/03/2019 at 21:59

B.Crouch or Rockliff or neither of them and stick with M.Crouch at M5 ? TIA, just looking at maybe boosting my FWDs due to the lack of Rooks

    Ja191 · 19/03/2019 at 22:10

Don’t like either personally but have gone libba myself. Take a look at m crouches stats pre and post byes, usually goes berserk after the bye so I’m gonna target him then

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 22:13

Who would you be boosting to in your fwd line Dbb?…and who would be going out?…do you have Libba in your side already, I'd say stick with Matt, but if you had to pick of the 2,…Brad Crouch.

    Juzzy · 19/03/2019 at 22:19

    Hi Mate,

I have been trying to figure out a way to get Rocky in. Can't. But he looks fit and is a beast at his best. I get the feeling I will regret it when he starts pumping out 150s. Despite his injury history I also reckon he is a better bet to stay on the park this year than Crouch.

Hawk131415 · 19/03/2019 at 22:04

Really getting excited, gonna be a crazy start, LOL

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 22:10

      Hawk131415 · 19/03/2019 at 22:17

        Hawk131415 · 19/03/2019 at 22:21

Walsh or Cousins is a question im trying to answer atm

          Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 22:28

Reckon Walsh has the higher scoring potential and better job security.

            Hawk131415 · 19/03/2019 at 22:38

But he might get smashed around a bit where as Cousins is a little more hardened, might affect Walsh?

              Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 22:45

Mate, if you don't think Wash is ready for AFL, just look at what he did in his intra-club match and then his 2 JLT's, he starred and made great decisions, I reckon that'll continue through the year, just my opinion though. He wants it all and he wants it now πŸ™‚

Scrimshaw to the bench for Hore or bring in Collins from Suns. Clarkson mentioned this week he will most likely play only a handful of game this year. Hasnt impressed this preseason either. Walters is very inconsistent also. Probably could bring in Dahlhaus, Dunkley or Lobb even for the forward line at a better price.

Juzzy · 19/03/2019 at 22:10

My resolution this year is to stick with my team and not make any last minute changes (rookies pending).

My 11th hour change last year was minutes before the ball bounced I decided to trade Coniglio down to Armitage so I could trade Grundy up to Kruezer …

Then again, if there is sufficient beer in the fridge on Thursday night …..

Good luck to all.

Daniel · 19/03/2019 at 22:12

Which of these midfield options is the best to start with;

1. Macrae/Cripps/Oliver/Treloar/Crouch + Walsh at M6, Butters M7 and Constable M8
2. Cripps/Selwood/Dusty/Beams/Crouch + Libba M6, Walsh M7 and Butters M8

Daniel · 19/03/2019 at 22:50

Why the poo-poo on mid provers when you guys are struggling with your rookie selections. I’d rather get 60-70 every week then have a rookie on the bench that plays 2 games for the year.

    Russty_ · 19/03/2019 at 23:15

By "mid provers", I assume you mean midpricers, no one's arbitrarily saying midpricers are bad or not.
Everyone's struggling with their rookies, cause no one knows who's gonna start or not yet.
Once they're clearer, we'll all be able to make the right decisions.
Are you picking a bunch of midpricers and want some validation or something?

      DEESNUTSRBIG · 20/03/2019 at 00:02

Guns and rookies (need 13 star keepers to start). Yes im nervous about the rookies will no doubt have to use 2 trades coming into round 3 to correct them.

TelescopicCox · 20/03/2019 at 08:46

How much is everyone looking at the byes? I currently am loaded in R13 bye like a lot of others, and am looking at 7 premos missing.

Would you make any of these changes to help with the bye rounds?

1. Crisp > Brodie Smith (Smith D3, Williams D2)
2. Treloar > Dusty or Brad Crouch (moves M.Crouch to M4)

Both of the above moves would obviously free up some cash which could help with some flexibility (only have $10k spare)

    Billy · 20/03/2019 at 12:01

    1. No, unless you use the money to improve elsewhere, downgrading a premium to a mid pricer

    2. Dusty > Treloar. cheaper and should average more or less similar

macrae & Goldy + 50k bank ( if I were upgrading coniglio)

Midfield as it stands now-
Cripps Oliver coniglio crouch crouch libba Walsh butters

Ruck- Gawn Goldy

Hope that’s not too confusing

Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 10:51

F3 is still proving to be a pain in the backside. In order to get Macrae instead of Coniglio, I cannot spend more than $481k on my F3, and i have 3 options i am considering.
Billings (Burnt last year, super scared to go back)
Walters (Awesome JLT with unreal score/pm)
Boak (Consistently ok, playing more midfield minutes with Wines out, but doesnt seem to have a large ceiling)

Jeremy Cameron could be a massive POD, but a massive risk. Decent scores from JLT playing higher up the ground.

What are everyones thoughts on these options? Cheers lads

    JohnDJ59 · 20/03/2019 at 13:44

I have Billings at F4, do you really need Macrae, Cogs is a good player, he's my M3.

        Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 14:37

Except for Billings imo. Had him last year but might be okay if playing more mid. Bit more expensive but T Kelly Menegola Dunkley better options if there not your F3.

          Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 14:43

I actually didnt have Macrae for the entire pre season until today when i decided to try and fit him in due to his ability to go laaaarge pretty much every week, but as you guys say, i probably dont really need him, especially if it means i have Billings instead of a D. Smith, Mundy, Kelly ect. Thanks lads

          JohnDJ59 · 20/03/2019 at 16:38

I have Dunkley F3, happy with Billings at F4, but not F3.

    Dan · 20/03/2019 at 14:22

I really don't like to put my faith in him, but I am considering Greene. He should average well above his price category until his bye. I don't see him as a keeper but a potential one that will make some cash at the very least. Billings looks good but I resolved not to even look at him after last year. Walters is similar but I like him better. I think Boak won't improve on his previous season average and will average 5-10 points less. I think those players are awkwardly priced to be midpriced investments as they have less potential for cash generation. Players like Greene and dare I say Moore are less likely keepers but should make you some cash as stepping stones to proper premos. I would be investing in the guys you mentioned with the expectation they will finish in the top FWDs. I don't think Boak will, so for mine I don't see him as a keeper. Billings and Walters maybe, if they (or Ross) don't burn you. It depends on your trading strategy.

      Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 14:48

Well I am mainly running a GnR structure with Brodie Smith my only true midpricer (not including Williams), and backing in my rookies to generate enough cash. I have also tried starting as many top players as i can, like i believe my 5 premo mids will finish top 6, my 3 "premo" backs (Laird, Crisp, Williams) to be top 6 ect. And running Westhoff in the ruck gives me coin to strengthen other lines, and he can be swung forward come the byes and i get in Grundy. I think ill just stick with Cogs and stick Mundy or Dunkley or something in F3. Gives me another player ill be pretty certain is a top fwd. Cheers Dan

Lynch to debut for the Tiges Rd1

    gator59 · 20/03/2019 at 11:22

More pain for Tiges fans… The boom recruit has never played a full season… Always injured

      Lazza · 20/03/2019 at 12:07

That is not true Gator.. Lynch played all games in 2014 and 2016. He missed 2 games in 2015 (one thru suspension) and 3 games in 2017.

        gator59 · 20/03/2019 at 17:50

That maybe true Lazza but he's still crap … A lot like Hanners will be for the Saints

    Wally Brando · 20/03/2019 at 12:10

some say T Lynch up forward could mean more midfield rotations for Higgins, whet do we think of this…?

      Lazza · 20/03/2019 at 12:15

Higgins will certainly play more mid-field minutes this year, but not because of Lynch. Dusty will be the beneficiary (from a SC perspective).

        dontblushbaby · 20/03/2019 at 12:35

D.Rioli will also play more mid

Gavin · 20/03/2019 at 11:11

MID: Cripps Oliver coniglio MCrouch BCrouch Libba walsh butters (Scott constable Atkins)

RUCK: Gawn Goldy (bines)

FWD: danger heeney Dunkley JHiggins Setterfield drew (pettrucelle Burgess)

148k In bank

12k short of Grundy an if I found it that will leave me with absolutely no bank..

could go a midfielder maybe cogs/Oliver to macrae..

OR I can just bank my 148k watch two rounds and make a call then.

    Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 12:33

Could swap Scrimshaw for cheaper rook e.g Burgess and get Grundy. Read in the paper this morning that Clarkson said Scrimshaw may not be ready.

Martin and Gawn
M.Crouch and Grundy

    first option ..

    Dan · 20/03/2019 at 14:24

Have you got Danger as well? All in the FWD? The byes might get messy!

Shake_n_bake · 20/03/2019 at 12:13

Community thoughts l have $240 in the kitty my 4 option are upgrade rookie to Greene Goldy to Grundy Rookie to Libba or just keep it in the kitty? I have 3 premiums and Moore fwd 5 premiums rest rookies mid?

    Dan · 20/03/2019 at 14:28

I'd take the punt on Grundy and save yourself a trade. Carrying Greene and Moore upfront might be a bit risky and might cost you another trade. Throwing Libba in the mix will also likely cost you another trade, but undoubtedly all three should make some money. It depends how many keepers you anticipate to have in your side and how many trades you'll need to get to full premo.

I think I'd consider Goldy to Grundy definitely, and maybe one of the other options depending which rookies are named, but probably not all three.

Jonzzy · 20/03/2019 at 12:19

Any cash leagues going around fellas?

Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 12:32

Is grundy/Gawn really 140k better than Goldy? The amount of teams I am seeing with grawndy is astonishing..
I think I’m set on having Goldy R2 he may very well go 115+ and use that 150k on macrae in the middle or strengthening another Line.

    GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 12:34

I am going Goldy. I can't justify having Libba, Moore and Smith to get him in. Mid Price players can go really bad

      Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 12:42

Yeah fair assessment GD. I think goldy is locked but will need to find a way to get macrae either upgrading one of coniglio or Oliver. Finding it hard to part with either though. Either could match macrae imo

        Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 14:49

I have both Oliver and Coniglio and they're not moving. And no Macrae. If you think they can match Macrae then leave as is and explore other avenues if you think you have to have him.

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:32

Ive gone Goldy too. The big fella looks set for a great year

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 19:47

It'd be a hoot if Goldy outscored Grundy this year, with Roughead and Cox pinch hitting at times, unlikely, but it would be funny.

FearTheBeard · 20/03/2019 at 13:44

Hey Community,

Could I please bug you all for your input. Struggling with a final decision.

I have had T Kelly most the year, now toying with Dunkley but when I saw Lynch is in for Tigers (I am a tigers fan) I thought young Higgins might push more in the mid? Could be a goer?

I've got Heeney & Danger there but other then that I'm stuffed.

Please throw your two cents?

    david · 20/03/2019 at 15:22

I was following some advice from a guy who won the last two fantasy dream team years (and while it isn't supercoach, it is very similar) and he sounded like Boak was a safer bet than most.

      FearTheBeard · 20/03/2019 at 15:42

Issue with Boak is he might not get as much midfield minutes with Wines back.

Plus his celing doesn't appear huge.

      Thanks for your comment though!

      Anyone else?

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 15:58

Giday Beard, I think if you're a fan of Snags and you think he can improve this year, go for it…I think he could average somewhere between 80 and 90, Kelly maybe 90 – 100.
The extra $113100 could be useful enough to upgrade another player who could make up for the lost points.

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:35

Ideally he'd be an f4, Beard could maybe take a premo out of the backline to make that happen.

      Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:44

Higgins is my F4 & love it . I don’t mind lynch at tha price will kick some big scores with that midfield feeding him and rumours are he will ruck at times HOs could be a nice bump to his avg but being KPP expect those mediocre scores. Darling I really like though FTB

clarky · 20/03/2019 at 13:51

Hey guys,Hey fellas, so got a dilemma here, would love your thoughts and opinions as to what i should be going with.

1. Macrae and Smith

2. Dusty/M Crouch and Hurn

So option 2 gives me an extra keeper, but option 1 means i don't have to find a way to get Macrae in later. I feel like both Dusty and Crouch will have a huge year, in particular Dusty.

    Bells · 20/03/2019 at 14:54

2 Macrea will go down (at some point by quite a bit) – Dusty and Crouch up.

      Clarky · 20/03/2019 at 15:37

Thanks for responding mate. He will inevitably go down at some point but he would need a sub 100 game to go right down to the point he is attainable. And with rookies looking a little scarce and I only have 1 mid pricer in Moore, I’d most likely need to make 3 trades to make it happen

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 15:43

Hi clarky, I'm gonna see if MacRae can back up last year first, 2018 127 av, 2017 106 av, 2016 94 av.
He could go backwards, but also could not I guess, that sort of av is hard to maintain though.
    Option 2 I reckon.

      Clarky · 20/03/2019 at 15:51

Thanks for your input russty. Appreciate it. Think I’m set I’m going without him with the intent of picking him up either before our around his bye

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:04

No worries, I think not starting with someone so expensive, and with so much to live up to, isn't such a bad thing, can make out like a bandit if they have a low score or 2 or cop an injury, then you jump on them.

Murray · 20/03/2019 at 14:34

here is my final team hopefully, please let me know what you think

Defs Whitfield/ Williams/ Smith/ Scrimshaw/ Clark / Duursma (Hore/ Watson)

Mids Cripps/ Oliver/ Fyfe / Martin / MCrouch / Constable/ Walsh / Butters / (Scott/ Atkins/ Gibbons)

Rucks Gawn/ Grundy (Fort)

Fwds Dangerfield / Heeney / Dunkley/ T Kelly / Setterfield/ Drew ( Petruccelle / Parker)

Please let me know if I should make any change

    Bells · 20/03/2019 at 14:51

Fully endorsed JR team for sure.
You are going to have a very boring year playing teams that are exactly the same as yours (with the possible exception of Whitfield).
At least you won't have to monitor scores – just check in each week to see if Whitfield beat the one guy on the other team you don't have.
(I have 23 of them myself – so it must be a good team) LOL

    Murray · 20/03/2019 at 18:53

So clever man, so who should I have instead of grundy.?

Gawn and a rookie or say English as r2??? Then upgrade to grundy when he has dropped to 550k.

    What do you think

Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 14:53

Anyone looking at Treloar as a POD? Or are people scared off with all the gun pies midfielders stealing points. Im considering Treloar in for Coniglio as a nice POD, because most teams are looking pretty similar with what ive seen.

    david · 20/03/2019 at 15:24

yeah why is he so unpopular? I guess beams has spooked people.

      Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 16:36

It seems that way! I'm seriously considering him, because he is a genuine ball magnet and is a real POD

    Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 16:36

I said most of the teams that I've seen… You really must be clever!!

    Twilightingale · 20/03/2019 at 16:51

Not really. Expensive at 600k and doesn't have the same 115-120 upside like Clarry / Fyfe who are priced similar.
Players like Dusty, Crouch, Merrett better selections at their starting price

      Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 17:00

Already got Clarry and Crouch, not keen on Fyfe with his body, Dusty could very well go bananas this year if he decides he actually wants to try, but I'm not keen on starting him, and Merret will possibly be an upgrade target for me. Treloar went nuts in the jlt too. Probably going to stay with cogs though I reckon.

    Rick Grimes · 20/03/2019 at 19:28

He's in my team. No Adams and I think Beam in actually helps. Also the 666 rule might give him a bit more room and time to dispose, which is his Achilles heel. I reckon he's good for 110+.

      Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 19:38

Very good points Rick! Flip of the coin I guess

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 19:44

I think it's occasional bad D/E that makes people doubt him, sometimes he really butchers it, but still manages to score ok, just not elite at times.

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:49

Would love to have Treloar but just cant fit em all in!

Bells · 20/03/2019 at 15:02

Jock's Jock League looking for 4 players.
It's a competitive league with individual rankings varying from top few hundreds to about 7000 or so last year.

Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 15:26

Anyone going Marsh over Clark in the backline to start..or is Clark good enough to keep his job when the other 2 get back in?

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:38

Hope so, think Marsh could be the next Nathan Brown scoring 40's and 50's every week.

    Twilightingale · 20/03/2019 at 16:49

Marsh / Rowe won't play round 1, not ready yet. Brown suspended.
In terms of STK rookie priced players, Joyce / Wilkie both have a good chance of playing round 1. Wilkie hasn't shown much over the jlt, played ruck 1 game for White and 1 quarter the 2nd game, but Richo seems to love him.
Joyce would play when Brown misses, not sure if they play together.

      kevwal · 20/03/2019 at 23:55

Where did you hear Marsh won't play Rd1?

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:30

Same question over Clark Russty, who do we look at as a replacement with a cloud over Scrimshaw??

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 19:38

I heard Marsh is ready for round 1, but Rowe isn't…wait and see I guess, it'll be hard not to pick Clark if he's named, looks like a good young player.

Kinglear009 · 20/03/2019 at 15:34

One of my final dilemnas:

Macrae and Dahlhaus
Coniglio and Dunkley

    Steeeve · 20/03/2019 at 15:42

I'm not starting Macrae, even last year you could have picked him up for the run home at just $540K. Love Cogs and Dunkley picks but neither will start in my side.

      Whitchyyy · 20/03/2019 at 16:42

I agree! I'm just can't fit him I to my side, so I'll just have to hope he has at least one or two average scores and I'll snatcg him up around the byes

    JohnDJ59 · 20/03/2019 at 16:46

    Coniglio M3, Dunkley F3.

Steeeve · 20/03/2019 at 15:41

With Lynch to debut for Richmond I'm dropping Balta and bringing in Darcy Moore. Never thought I'd have him in my starting side but I need someone who will be on the park, and hopefully he keeps taking the kick outs.
To do this I've dropped L Neale for Dusty. End of last year I said I wouldn't pick Dusty again but his value and soft early run is tough to ignore.
I also have Sam Walsh even though I said never again would I start with a high-price rookie after Brayshaw stank it up last year.

Moral of the story, I never bloody learn.

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:09

Hey Steeeve, part of the fun of SC is the gambles mate, Darcy is a good gamble this year that could give a nice advantage if he stays on the field and scores half decent with kickins, intercept marks etc.
Walsh is the guy that determines once and for all whether any of us ever start with a 200k rookies again…lol, so he'll have his use this year, best case scenario we can love him long time if he stays fit and scores well, worse case scenario, he ends up scoring like every other 60 av rookie and we've done our dough.
P.S if you're going with Darcy I'd put Burgess on the other end, cheers.

      COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 16:27

100% agree Russty and many supercoaches this season will have to take gambles to reached the promised land!

    Steeeve · 21/03/2019 at 10:18

Good call cleverman, I was low on Dusty already and now he is out. Can upgrade him to Neale and pocket keep 100k in the kitty. Or I can go to Macrae?? Just feel Macrae is way over-priced

TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 15:42

Do we think we can afford start without Macrae? I'd love to start him but with my current structure, id have to cull a premo to a mid pricer to make it happen. Is he realistically going to drop to the point we can just paint the fence? I'm not so sure.

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:02

Hey Tommy, for me he still needs to show he can backup last year, I'm not starting him but if he starts cranking out 130's and 150's again I'm probably stuffed and won't be able to get him in at all or not till later in the year.
I did a trial of my current team without Macrae and Grundy and with Mac and Grundy in there and all the necessary changes to do that and my score prediction ended up about the same, so if you don't have him to start, I believe the others you get in can make up for the lost points.

    Derek · 20/03/2019 at 16:24

    You can’t have everyone.

I haven’t had him in my team because of the large number of midfielders at the dogs. I know he is a gun but what if he has an 80 in the early rounds, his price is effected for 3 weeks and can drop $80-$100k, I know that can happen to any of them, but he has the most to fall.

I went Merrett instead, allowed me to go Gawn instead of Goldy.

      TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 17:03

Yeah we can’t have everyone. And all it takes is a sub 90k score and we can pick him up for 600-620k. His draw is a mixed in terms of good/bad. I’d assume he’d draw some attention against Sydney, hawthorn and possibly Collingwood. Although games against the suns, blues and freo scare me.

    Sharkmove_King · 20/03/2019 at 17:12

I agree fellas you can't start everyone, especially when there aren't many good basement priced rookies.

But, I reckon you should try to make a solid plan to get him in. Maybe a mid priced like Libba might help you get there. Or pick a round when you decide to get him in and do two downgrades (maybe some dead weight) the week before.

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 17:52

My plan is Libba to MacRae and cash in a cow at the right time, but I could just be dreamin…lol

      TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 18:14

Yeah I agree mate. Definitely gonna need a double downgrade to make it happen. Midpricers would make it easier but I’ve only got the one in Moore atm

neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 16:14

Russty do so at your peril Macrae is simply a must have, in fact all 5 mega stars are, DANGER GRAWNDY MACRAE and CRIPPS . 30 disposals in 3 quarters and 29 disposals 13 contested in the other 143 and 104 HE'S back mate. However I did the same trial with all of them with the same results Both predictions the same but like last year try getting GRUNDY back in ,I couldn't and settled on NANK ,not this year

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:50

Thanks Neil I know mate it sucks but there's just certain players I want to start with this year and that means no Mac and Grundy unfortunately, I'm no expert and never claimed to be but I'd rather stick with my starters and wear it if it doesn't come off, it's a learning experience every year, if I flop this year I'll know why if Grundy and Mac go huge and i get left behind on points.
I just like the idea of picking someone who can improve or breakout, bloody hard to nail it though.

      Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 17:00

I am with you russty no grundy & macrae for me but a well balanced side and 100k bank for any correction come R3. Although I think I may go BCrouch -> Brayshaw and use that $$$. I think Brayshaw May go massive & no injury concern

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 17:07

Hey Mav, I love Brayshaw and he's in my side but try Wikipedia-ing Brad Crouch and he's an encyclopedia of injury since 2012, much as I'd like to have him at his best, I already have enough risks.

Vinny · 20/03/2019 at 16:16

Hey guys I would love some advice on my team which I think is final barking rookies.

DEF: Whitfield, Crisp, Z.Williams, Collins, Scrimshaw, Duursma (Clark, Horne)

MID: Cripps, Kelly, Martin, M.Crouch, B.Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Scott (Constance, Atkins, Gibbons)

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (D.Fort)

FWD:Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Billings, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle, M.Parker)

As you can see I’ve gone with a stronger forward line due to not having confidence in the rookies. Any advice/opinions/criticisms are welcomed! πŸ™‚

Thanks Vinny

Atkins will play, doubt Bewley will and Scrimshaw a 60/40

Locked and Loaded · 20/03/2019 at 16:31

Laird or Whitfield???

neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 16:38

After 11 major reforms and countless minor changes my team is done 11 true prems and just two midpricers WILLIAMS ans B SMITH. I feel the need for Grawndy backup is essential so Westhoff gets a gig (the no. 2 forward 2018 anyway ) The other major reform came today after talks with Gator.. Burgess and Moore in I dont like either but the swing is vital and Moore is equal with my F4 McCarthy and easy to downgrade if he stinks up,taking the kick outs helps Libba is unluckly but strickly a cash cow and CONIGLIO is a better keeper choice leaving me 5 great mids Hope it all works out cheers boys NDD

    GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 16:41

Sounds Good Neil! Goodluck mate πŸ‘

      neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 16:48

Thanks Glory The two areas I most fail at are Trades and the correct starting prems. I hope i have nailed it with a G N R team unlike many that have gone midprice, – as DEREK would say Pay the . Is your team nearly done? NDD

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 16:54

Are you starting Lincoln McCarthy Neil?

          neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 17:22

          No out today in MOORE

            Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 17:50

Good call I think..you still going with Bailey in your side?

              neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 18:08

no only SMITH and Williams midpricers I can see enough cash cows from the rookies particularly with the swingsets and a few more to come Swallow Hayes cavarra corbett all will debut early 6 onfield new rookies and 3 of them will play a lot I trust the rookies mate

        GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 17:29

Yeah nor far off. People trying to persuade me into dropping Smith for Collins but not sure yet

          neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 18:13

i did Glory even though he will play a lot he will score 30's against the top teams a little bit like Nathan Brown

    kinglear009 · 20/03/2019 at 17:17

Neil, what happened in the draft last night? Thought I saw you get Titch

      neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 17:25

I slipped and pressed Tich accidently then ran out of time Hope I can get another from the list or might keep him for next year if we can retain them ,someone will know He would be great 2020

    Shake_n_bake · 20/03/2019 at 17:33

I have settled for 5 premium players in my midfield aswell no mid priced. Good luck this yr mate!!

      neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 18:16

Hope for some epic battles in Cazaly Shake I am out to win it this year Preserve trades 4th with trades will do good luck champ

    Derek · 20/03/2019 at 18:54

    I’ve done same.

Williams, Brodie and Moore my only mid pricers.

Have tossed up Rozee instead of Moore, I might if I need to upgrade a rookie to a Collins or butters

Have stuck with Walsh at M6, looks like being in team late in the year.

I’m paying the price in the rucks this year. There is no alternative

GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 16:47

Team for now:

Laird, Hurn, Williams, Smith, Clark, Duursma (Burgess, Hore)

MacRae, Cripps, Treloar, M.Crouch, Steele, Walsh, Butters, Constable (Scott, Atkins, Gibbons)

Gawn, Goldy (Sweet)

Danger, Mundy, Dunkley, Moore, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle, Parker)

25k left

Happy with my structure, risk taking Goldy but I have had him all pre season and just can't get Grundy in and have a team I like.

Thoughts and tips appreciated πŸ‘

Goodluck all

    COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 16:56

looking good Glory Days my side very similar but today removed B.Smith I'm just not convinced he'll be a keeper and I only want max 3 hopefully only 2 mid-pricers I'm squeezing in Grundy! Just!

      GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 17:30

Yeah most I have seen have Collins at D3 but Smith will be playing rebound and on the wing so not sure. Collins I have never been sold on, but some think he will average over 75.

    neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 17:33

A lot of similarities Glory to mine Ilike the Steel pick Toss a coin with Treloar or Oliver same bye Mundy is good also with mid time assured All the correct rookies are there should go well good luck

      GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 17:38

Is it worth dropping Smith to Collins or is Collins not essential?

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 17:49

Collins averaged 72.5 in 12 games at Freo in 2016 GD so he's not a rookie, just a cheap defender, I'd Have Smith and Collins if you can.

          GloryDays94 · 20/03/2019 at 19:41

          Can't afford him and Smith…

        NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:43

I'm not running with him I've gone Ridley instead

COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 16:49

Just about locked and loaded for Round 1 just waiting on the teams now and praying Scrimshaw is selected by Clarko!
Best option for F4 Greene or D.Moore or Rookie?

    Locked and Loaded · 20/03/2019 at 16:54

    Greene… do it

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 17:04

Greene is more nailed in terms of you know what you’re gonna get. Moore’s swingset is handy if you have burgess in defense

      COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 17:08

I have Burgess on the bench in defence but I have got Toby Greene
If I go a rookie I could upgrade B.Smith to Hurn but then I have three onfield rookies in the fowardline

BlueBaggerJosh · 20/03/2019 at 17:12

Will trades be unlimited after Thursday except for tigers and Carlton? Have a shitty phone that can’t be trusted to work quickly lol

    COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 17:16

    Yes mate

Joe · 20/03/2019 at 17:38

Def: Sicily, Z. Williams, B. Smith, Scrimshaw, Hore (burgess, Lockhart)

Mid:P. Cripps, C. Oliver, Fyfe, Trealor, Coniglio, Rockliff, B. Crouch, Walsh (Gibbons, B.Scott, S. Wicks)

Ruc: Grundy Gawn (Bines)

Fow: Danger, Dunkley, Greene, Setterfield, Drew, Petruccelle (M.Parker, M. Keane)

Thoughts? What should I change

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:28

Love the side but I'd go Sicily to Laird/Lloyd/Whitfield personally. His role is under question

      Lance · 20/03/2019 at 20:53

I think whitefield might be played in the foward line for a bit this year

Joe · 20/03/2019 at 17:39

Also J. Clarke is in the defence

TheWizardOfOzz · 20/03/2019 at 17:41

Hey guys, Haven't been following dusty all preseason, just wondering if with lynch hes gonna play more midfield, or will he still sit forward for a while?

TheWizardOfOzz · 20/03/2019 at 18:13

Sloane or Merrett??

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:52

Thats a TOUGH one. Maybe Sloane as he seems like more of a POD this year but you can't go wrong with either IMO

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 20:35

Merrett for me, less likely to be tagged

      TheWizardOfOzz · 20/03/2019 at 21:27

Would you have dusty ahead of either of them?

        NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 21:58

        Yep ahead of both

BlueBaggerJosh · 20/03/2019 at 18:15

Hanley as a POD over Smith?

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 18:22

Definitely a pod, I wouldn't do it though.

    Danners · 20/03/2019 at 22:31

Don't mind it, has a higher ceiling than Smith. Probably as prone as to injury as each other

Holty01 · 20/03/2019 at 18:28

Well my team is now locked….I think.
Am I happy with it? No
Can I improve it? Probably
Will I change it again? Hell no. If I haven’t got it right by now, I never will.

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 18:33

Wait till all the rookies are named first Holty, haha, hey check your squad in our 2 afl fantasy draft leagues mate, you might need to trade some new free agents in.

      Holty01 · 20/03/2019 at 18:41

Only arrived back in Aust today. Hardly had any reception while I was away. I’ll look later and see what rubbish I have in my side

    Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 18:36

If not happy Holty, change it until you are, go with the gut moves you started with,,,

      Holty01 · 20/03/2019 at 19:13

That’s the problem Hawk. Changed it so many times now that the team I have now seems to be the best I’ve come up with.

        Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 19:24

Oh snap, Wait till teams are announced, then mad rush LOL

    Doc_1 · 21/03/2019 at 09:32

Locked … until you change it!
As much as I tell myself to leave mine alone just can’t help but adjust.

Ja191 · 20/03/2019 at 18:28

Lloyd/brayshaw or hurn/Oliver

Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 18:33

So after mucking around like a clown with midpricers for how long now?, im done, seriuosly cant do it, full GNR, rooks will appear, M5 strong,,,To be honest, i love the fluffing about thinking im going way out the box and making the best first rd side ever, i always go back to GNR, They will come!!!

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 18:44

So no Williams, Smith, Libba, B.Crouch, Rocky, Greene, Moore?..none of those guys?
Hope the rookies show up for ya mate.

      Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 18:57

      Williams only one,

      TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 19:54

I am starting with Zac Williams, Brodie Smith, Libba, Brad Crouch, and Tom Rockliff. Then I also have Callum Mills down back and Moore up forward. Starting with 7 midpricers. Love it!! If 5 come off I will be laughing.

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:06

I have 4 this year T.H plus Moore, should be a wild ride this year haha

          TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:34

Its gonna be a ripper! I am actually starting with 6 midpricers not 7. Miscounted. The only one that I am stewing over is Rocky vs Libba. Libba is $105K cheaper. Other than that I am at peace with my team.

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 18:55

I think it’s going to be very hard to go full GnR this year. I’ve gone a little cold on mid pricers and have opted for 2 to start the season. Moore just so I don’t have to play 3 fwd rookies and Williams but I am considering him as a keeper.
Hope it works it for ya mate

      Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 18:58

Yeah NDD, cant do moore, rather a rook, theyll be there

      neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 19:35

moore really only an expensive rookie type I am doing the same GNR only WILLIAMS and Smith

    TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 19:58

This year is mid price madness mate! There is just such unbelievable value out there. I reckon you need to be open minded and prepared to risk a few extra midpricers this year. I am not saying starting with 7 like myself, but 3-4 decent mid pricers should seriously be considered. Just my take though mate. Good luck!

      neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 20:09

how many of the seven are going to be keepers toppa. It's a matter of getting the right ones you will with 7 but gonna cost a lot of trades

        TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:28

I am actually starting with 6 Neil. I miscounted. Hehehe. If 3/6 will be keepers its mission accomplished. This season is going to be one of the most wide open races for the cash. Some will be hard core GNR and some will be more mid pricer focused which is my strategy in 2019. Good luck mate. Should be a ripper season!

          Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 20:36

Cheers boys, have my Plan A Plan B in place, which includes 4

          neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 21:55

Yeah good luck to you too Toppa We have different strategies ,mine GNR yours most definitely midprice madness only time will tell Watch your trades NDD

    Danners · 20/03/2019 at 22:30

Always had a couple midpricers in past seasons. Only had Libba the past week, today I have none. Can't justify the risk in it for a lot of them

Beezneez · 20/03/2019 at 18:47

Help. Still undecided.
Goldy T Kelly f4 and rookie or
Grundy D Moore and Walsh.

      Far from Lock BVB,

        dontblushbaby · 20/03/2019 at 20:27

Josh Caddy will take Baltas spot once he recovers from injury, I am a Richmond supporter and I only have Dusty in my team, however I believe Rioli and Higgins will have a good season but not in the top 8 in SC IMO

    Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 22:44

No one worried about dusty starting FF and not in the guts? I’m not starting him but you’d want him in the engine room surely from the beginning

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:04

I'm more worried about where his head is at Mav, no from me for now, plus he typically loses a bunch of cash before he lifts.

NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 19:27

Am I a nutcase for running with Salem as a POD? Anyone else on board?

    TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 19:50

Not at all. He is a serious break out candidate. Other blokes with a similar profile are Wayne Milera, Hayden Crozier, and Callum Mills. All 4 can be considered for POD selection and are similarly priced. Good luck mate!

      NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 20:12

Cheers TH πŸ™‚ You always have that dread when you never see their name pop up. Gotta keep backing your gut though in this game sometimes!

Rick Grimes · 20/03/2019 at 19:31

Might take a punt on Lynch at F4. I reckon he'll go some monster scores this year. No preseason…meh.

    Holty01 · 20/03/2019 at 19:36

Like it. I wouldn’t personally with lack of preseason but he is capable of going huge as you said Rick

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 20:37

Definitely an option when he drops in price as all key forwards do.

    Jester · 21/03/2019 at 12:25

Have him in my team. May start slowly, but save yourself a trade. Everyone will have him in six weeks. He will kick cricket scores this year. His BE is 77. My shark move. Shhh.

BlueBaggerJosh · 20/03/2019 at 19:43

With the Richmond v Carlton opener edging closer, i thought i'd list the relevant names and get no's and yes' from the community
Defenders: Simpson, Short, Newman, Cuningham
Midfielders: Cripps, Dusty, walsh, Gibbons
Fwd: Riewoldt, Lynch, Higgins, Setterfield, balta

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 19:56

For my team Josh, Cripps, Walsh, Gibbons, Setterfield and Balta are yes.

      TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 20:38

You reckon Balta's JS is solid enough Russty?

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:41

If he does well Tommy, yeah, but if he duds it could find himself out, same goes for Parker though.

          neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 22:00

Went the same Russty ,one plays for the Saints welcome Balta smashed the dees with his 2nd qtr marking JLT

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 20:09

Only starting Dusty, Crippa, Gibbons and Setterfield in my side

KeenButClueless · 20/03/2019 at 19:50

Am I going crazy? Didn’t Hardwick say that he wouldn’t play Balta alongside Lynch and Riewoldt?

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:03

Yeah I believe he did Keen, maybe he's going crazy too…lol

      KeenButClueless · 20/03/2019 at 20:15

Drives me crazy. I went back onto the AFL site and dig up two recent articles. In one Dimma said in absolute terms that Lynch would Ruck on the forward line, and they hadn’t ruled out Grigg rucking. He also said he it was between Balta and Moore – but only if Lynch didn’t play. In the second he reaffirmed that he wouldn’t play Lynch Riewoldt and Balta.

Balta taking relief ruck whilst Grigg is out is a very tasty F6 option. Given the Long term injury to Grigg, even tastier. But Dimma absolutely hosed it down.

Now I don’t know whether to go back to the structure that had Balta at F6, or plan for a round 3 corrective if he is still there.

These few days are nerve wracking enough without this!

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:28

Yeah it's like they're deliberately trying to mislead, my guess is, maybe peer pressure to pay Balta?…but if he dud scores, could be out again quicksmart.

BlueBaggerJosh · 20/03/2019 at 19:57

Is Sicily over Lloyd purely for the bye stupid?

    COREYSC · 20/03/2019 at 19:59

yeah and from what I have heard in the media Sicily will swing forward and back this season which could affect his scoring!

Chris_Judd · 20/03/2019 at 20:02

Def: Williams, Smith, Ridley, Collins, Scrimshaw, Clark (Duursma, Hore)

Mid: Cripps, Fyfe, Cogs, Martin, M. Crouch, Steele, Libba, Walsh (Constable, Scott, Atkins)

Ruc: Grundy, Gawn (Sweet)

Fwd: Danger, Heeney, Darling, Moore, Setterfield, Drew (Burgess, Petruccelle)

Gone with a slim backline due to the value in the midfield (Dusty, Crouch, Steele). Thoughts?

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 20:07

I really like this team. Would probably go with Brayshaw ahead of Steele just for personal choice and maybe Darling to a Dunkley/Kelly for consistent points. Other than that love it! Good luck mate

TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:18

Its the eve of the AFL 2019 season!! The wait is nearly bloody over. The build up has like gone forever this year. I have finally come up with a side which I am happy with. My 2019 side has a heavy mid pricer focus. Not what I would normally start with, but a hardcore GNR strategy just wont cut it this year IMO. With all the great value mid pricers out there, you have to be prepared to take some early risks and go from there.

I have swingsets between the backline and forward line, the back line and midfield, and the forward line and midfield to give me very loophole avenue and am starting with 3 patsies. (Watson, Bines and Corbett- Whom will play very soon and will save me a trade)

No mucking around in the rucks. Its Grawndy. Starting with 10 keeper premos, 6 midpricers, and 14 rookies)

Here is my side. Critique away. TH

DEF :L. Whitfield C. Mills Z. Williams B. Smith J. Clark X. Duursma (C. Burgess M. Hore)

MID: P. Cripps L. Neale M. Crouch A. Brayshaw B. Crouch T. Rockliff S. Walsh (W. Setterfield, C.Constable T. Atkins T. Watson)

RUC: B. Grundy M. Gawn (P.Bines)

FOR: P. Dangerfield J. Dunkley T. Kelly D. Moore W.Drew M. Parker ( N. Balta J. Corbett)

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:26

Hey Hawk, I thought you said half an hour ago you were starting with B,Crouch Rocky and Libba?…have you dumped Libba since then?
You're all set up for the swingsets mate.

      TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:41

Yeah. Dumped Rocky and grabbed Libba instead!. Its SC eve!! You wouldnt expect anything less would ya! LOL

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:44

Yeah I love it mate!, we spend 3 months getting our sides together and then change em on the last night haha..P.S I like that move

    FearTheBeard · 20/03/2019 at 20:30

I like it and had Rocky & Crouch bro's a one stage.

No Macrae concerns me, as does no Lloyd/Laird (I feel one is needed at least). Though to go so deep in the mids and stronger in the forwards then I can is the difference.

      TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:48

Thanks mate. I may need to let Rocky go and get Libba instead. Then I will have the cash to look at perhaps Mac or a Laird.

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 20:45

Like the bold strategy TH. Only thing im not sold on is Setterfield in the guts on your pine. Feel like his scoring potential is too good for the pine.

    Jambo · 20/03/2019 at 23:13

I think you have a few too many mid-pricers. Stick with three or four. Otherwise, looking good. Good luck mate!

    Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:20

Certainly not a cookie cutter side here TH & I do not mind it one bit. No heeney is a bold move don’t think he’s going to outscore kelly or Dunkley for near the same price?

    Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 10:12

good luck for the season Hawk.

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:37

    i like the Mills pick.

i am tempted to drop Mundy from F4 and slot Mills into D2, don't think i will lose too many points.

start the season with $100k buckaroos in the bank

FearTheBeard · 20/03/2019 at 20:20

Greene & Oliver/Fyfe (ALSO WHICH 1)

    TOPHAWK1 · 20/03/2019 at 20:23

I am starting with all 3 in your first option, and 0 with your second option. No guessing which I prefer. Out of those top 3 it would be Brayshaw and Dunkley. Cheers mate and good luck!

      FearTheBeard · 20/03/2019 at 20:28

      Cheers mate.

Can you talk me into Dunkley over Kelly ? Why?

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 22:01

Greene and Oliver are both in my side. But both options are solid

    Danners · 20/03/2019 at 22:28

Depends on what you think Brayshaw will average, is he in your top 10 mids this year? Personally I would lean to Option 2 since #Fyfeislife

Steeeve · 20/03/2019 at 20:40

Balta and Neale
Moore and Dusty

Paul · 20/03/2019 at 20:45

Laird and Neale
Crisp and Macrae

    Robbo · 20/03/2019 at 22:17

    Crisp and Macrae

    Danners · 20/03/2019 at 22:26

Laird and Neale, probably could pick up Macrae a bit cheaper later in the season

Joe_T · 20/03/2019 at 20:51

Great stuff guys, always an exciting time of the year leading into the season!

Really unsure on rookies this season, it seems like everyone's got similar rookies and not many choices. Feedback on the team overall would be appreciated! I really want to get J. Cousins in somehow but can't afford it. And also not sure if I'm too light in the mid?

DEF: J.Lloyd K.Simpson Z.Williams B.Smith S.Collins J.Scrimshaw. (J.Clark X. Duursma)

MID: P.Cripps L.Neale S.Coniglio Z.Merrett T.Liberatore S.Walsh C.Constable W.Drew (Z.Butters B.Scott N.Hind)

RUCK: B.Grundy M.Gawn (P.Bines)

FWD: P.Dangerfield I.Heeney J.Westhoff W.Setterfield C.Burgess M.Parker (L. Petrucelle N.Balta)

    Boris_Baconbeer · 21/03/2019 at 08:46

Not a lot to argue with. Safe-ish. I Prefer stronger midfield myself but you would have to rejig your whole side to go that way.

      Joe_T · 21/03/2019 at 10:49

Cheers mate, yeah midfield is definitely one where I would've preferred another premo. And i've ditched the idea of getting Cousins, think it's too much money on rookies if I've got him and Walsh in the midfield.

        Boris_Baconbeer · 21/03/2019 at 17:14

Yeah would not be grabbing cousins. I’d drop Loyyd to get stronger midfield and also grabbing Moore for a stronger forward line. But as I mentioned before you would be making another 8 to 10 changes along the way. Good luck this weekend!

Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 20:52

Hey guys, wondering what you all think of this assortment of rabble….lol

Laird, Williams, Smith, Collins, Clark, Duursma – Hore, Burgess
Cripps, Oliver, M.Crouch, Fyfe, Brayshaw, Libba, Walsh, Drew – Scott, Atkins, Gibbons
Gawn, Goldy – Bines
Danger, Heeney, Degoey, Greene, Moore, Setterfield – Balta, Petrucelle.
40k left.
Don't think I'll be changing it now, tried a version with Mac and Grundy in it but it meant getting rid of Brayshaw, Libba and Greene who I really want to start with.

    Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 21:03

I think youre panicking and that fwd line is mass sketchy,,

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:08

Panicking about what?…I'm happy with it and it's more solid than most I've seen, if DeGoey doesn't get up I can swap him out for Kelly, Dunkley etc.

        Hawk131415 · 20/03/2019 at 21:12

Calm down. you asked, degoey moore greene looks like a trainwreck

          TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 21:23

The fwd line is a raffle this year, can definitely afford to start a few "risks"

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 21:24

I like it Russty. Although i'm struggling to see what you have done with the extra $$$ of not going Grundy?

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:27

Just the price to pay for having only 5 rookies on field Tommy, and the midpricers i wanted.

    KeenButClueless · 20/03/2019 at 21:29

Structurally I love your forward line. It’s the Libba pick that’s the issue. Swap Libba for a rookie and you go Goldy up to Grundy.

Collins down to Scrimshaw would also get you from Oliver or Fyfe to MacRae.

Getting to MacRae is possibly less important than getting to Grundy

The other alternative if you are fixed on Libba, is Walsh down, Collins down to Scrimshaw. That might also get you there.

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:41

Hey Keen thanks for the suggestions mate, something to ponder over for sure, I really think the diff between Grundy and Goldy won't be that big this year.
Libba represents to me…someone I can hang onto a bit longer and not have to trade until I'm ready to get MacRae in…hopefully!
If he's droppin 95-100's for me I'm happy with that, (one less headache)
I can't let go of Walsh mate, it's just the potential of the guy, could even go better than Kelly did last year I think…at least hope, cheers mate.

    JEL · 20/03/2019 at 21:43

Looks good Russty_, no better or worse than many I've seen.

This year I think we will crossing fingers/toes/whatever that our chosen midpricers come off.

I'm not convinced a pure GnR strategy is the way to go this year, so jagging the right midpricers will be the difference between beers or tears.

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:51

Thanks JEL, good luck for the season, gotta have some dodgy /risky picks I reckon, otherwise it's just boring haha

        JEL · 20/03/2019 at 23:48

Thanks mate, good luck to you also.

    NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 21:57

I like the De Goey pick! Only thing is maybe Collins to a Ridley – might generate more points if you can afford it

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:02

Yeah I'd like to NL, couldn't afford it, Collins will be there every week though, but maybe with average scores.

    neil demons delight · 20/03/2019 at 22:20

Sorry mate i'm with Hawk .Degoey Green and Moore doesn't look healthy I would want a more reliable F3 and/or F4 I agonised over Libba too but Macrae is just too good to miss/ It took ages to get him in last year same with Grundy

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 22:29

I know it's a little bit risky mate but I believe Greene will go alright, I understand guys with GNR teams thinking this an accident waiting to happen but I'm willing to take the plunge, the same could be said for guys choosing "safe" premos and depending on a lot of rookies going well, they can just as easily drop 40's each week.
Anyways, kinda wish I didn't post it now haha

    Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 22:41

VERY similar to mine russty… 4 players different onfield possibly 5 after more tinkering as one I’m not sure on but same structure and only 1 different rookie so naturally I’m a big fan of it haha

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 22:59

Yo Mav!…you are also a man who likes to flirt with danger…hahah, hope it pays off for us this year mate, if not, at least we tried something different.

        Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:13

Sometimes you just gotta risk it for the biscuit and I am a fan of them damn monte Carlos! Haha your probably slightly stronger than me on paper. good luck to you through the season mate.

        Browncow · 20/03/2019 at 23:45

Nice team Russty! I have Moore and Greene and punting on Darling much like De Goey. If the ship sinks I will be down there with you. Your other lines are rock solid.

    Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 10:17

good luck this year Russty look fwd to our challengers

    TOPHAWK1 · 21/03/2019 at 10:26

Nice team mate! I like the Brayshaw pick. I have him too. I was going to start with Gawn and Goldy, but I have been able to squeeze out the coin to get Grundy in. Just worth having the two top rucks. If one goes down you will have a lot of cash to grab Goldy then and $150-$170K change. There are still a few rumblings about Fyfe's elbow, but his little op a few weeks ago went well apparently. I am not starting with him just yet, but if he strings the first 3-4 games together with decent output, he will be coming into my side. I had de Goey at the back end of last season and he was brilliant. I am starting Dunkley and Kelly who I think deserve to be ahead of him. Go well mate!

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:44

have you thought about Rozee instead of Collins.

only $400 more and has DPP

Rozee has a bit more upside than Collins

      TommyC99 · 21/03/2019 at 12:36

Do you think he has the scoring potential and JS of Collins?

Joe · 20/03/2019 at 21:00

Need a premo defender who should I go Sicily, whitefield, crisp, Hurn or Simpson?

    Bob · 20/03/2019 at 21:37

    Doherty πŸ‘

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:43

      Very helpful Bob.

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:52

Reckon Hurn could exceed his past averages this year Joe.

      Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:45

      He is the value pick

    Nick · 21/03/2019 at 00:37

I’d say Simmo. He’s been ultra consistent for the past 10 years and doesn’t drop to low on an average day.

    GreendaleFC · 21/03/2019 at 10:51

Whitfield or Hurn. Sicily is a flog, Simpson is old, and Crisp hasn't proven himself quite enough for me. Whitfield should spend more time on the wing this year so that could be a good thing. Hurn will be a major beneficiary of the kick in rule change, but you have to consider that last year was his highest ever year of scoring, so he might not improve his scores anyway.

mikeyp · 20/03/2019 at 21:09

is it me or has everyone forgotten about Hoffman? Doesn't seem to be a popular pick this season. Is it because maybe his scoring will dry up once Dixon comes back?

    Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 21:31

I think you've forgotten Westhoff's name maybe?…and Dixon won't be back for awhile, there's no timeline on his return.
Westhoff has 13% ownership if that's who you're talking about.

NoLanguage96 · 20/03/2019 at 21:19

What are people doing for VC into C for R1?

Thinking Cripps into Danger

    TommyC99 · 20/03/2019 at 21:28

At this stage probably Cripps into Macrae/Oliver/M Crouch. In other words, dont have a clue.

Danger is probably the obvious one, but as a pies man id rather him not dominate haha

    Nick · 21/03/2019 at 00:34

    Cripps into Grundy for me

Stephen · 20/03/2019 at 21:34

Lloyd ( or laird) and Scrimshaw or Hurn and Ridley

      gator59 · 20/03/2019 at 22:01

Can't find it anywhere Russty…I've sent an email to HS and awaiting there reply

        Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:00

That sucks as much as Afl Fantasy not running matchday last year, I really enjoyed that game.

    hedski · 20/03/2019 at 22:40

I think the jackpot has got too far out of hand and they can't afford someone to jag it Gator.

      Russty_ · 20/03/2019 at 23:09

That makes sense Hed, who could get all of them right in one week?…it's pretty much impossible.

Last minute decisions on a POD team. Trying something different:

A) Laird Lycett (R2) Dunkley
B) Whitfield Hoff (R2) Kelly
C) Hurn Hoff (R2) Heeney

Plan is to pounce on Gawn IF he drops off

    JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 00:05

    kinglear009 · 21/03/2019 at 01:26

C – Heeney is the lock in an otherwise troubling line and Hurn is so dependable – if you're a betting man, Dunkley is the speculative bet.

      Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:46

of that lot, i would go

      C, but with Lycett.

      Hurn, Lycett, Heeney

Hi community,
Heeney or Kelly as F2?

    Danners · 20/03/2019 at 22:23

Heeney, Kelly is too inconsistent for my liking and has too many risks

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:48

    Heeney is a Gun

Ando · 20/03/2019 at 22:29

Hey Community! Fitting the final pieces of the puzzle into my team.

Hurn or Crisp? And why?

    Maverick_ · 20/03/2019 at 22:50

Hurn for me a little more consistent and kick ins will help his avg rise I hope. Crisp has a higher ceiling though if your the gambling man he may be for you but I know what I’ll get with hurn week in week out

      Ando · 20/03/2019 at 22:56

      Cheers Maverick!

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:49

Hurn will get at least a 10 point average lift from the kick in rules

      Ando · 21/03/2019 at 14:11

      Fingers crossed Derek!

Doc_1 · 20/03/2019 at 23:00

Think I’ve gone mad.

Witherden and B.Smith V. Laird and Collins.

Have 11 keepers and Z.Williams elsewhere.

JEL · 20/03/2019 at 23:59

Ok, here we are less than 24hr before the start and this is what it looks like.

DEF: S. Hurn, H. Andrews, Z. Williams, J. Scrimshaw, J. Clark, X. Duursma, C. Burgess, M. Hore
MID: J. Macrae, P. Cripps, C. Oliver, J. Kelly, B. Crouch, T. Rockliff, S. Walsh, Z. Butters, C. Constable, B. Scott, M. Gibbons
RUC: M. Gawn, T. Goldstein, P. Bines
FWD: P. Dangerfield, I. Heeney, M. Robinson, D. Moore, W. Setterfield, W. Drew, N. Balta, J. Petruccelle

Expecting to do a last minute rookie shuffle.
Any comments welcome.

    Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 00:14

JKelly makes me uneasy JEL. GWS didn’t play him through JLT and with his groin issue last season they never said much about it it was always a week to week injury that lasted ages n gave the public nothing so I feel there is more to it again now. Neale or coniglio would be safer.

      JEL · 21/03/2019 at 02:11

Hmmm, worth a 2nd look. Had Cogs last year and he did well for me.

        Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 09:57

6-6-6 should only help cogs too. I think he is a good option

    DavidC · 21/03/2019 at 11:21

Harris Andrews might swing forward at times for the Lions. Mitch Robinson is not a guaranteed best 22 this year, should start but might lose his spot during the year.

Ewoks8Stormtroopers · 20/03/2019 at 23:59

Alright, I think I'm locked in – haven't made a change for a day or two.

What do you all think?

DEF: Whitfield, Milera, Williams, Smith, Collins, Clark (Duursma, Burgess)

MID: McCrae, Cripps, Treloar, MCrouch, BCrouch, Walsh, Butters, Constable (Scott, Atkins, Gibbons)

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)

FWD: Danger, Heeney, Billings, Moore, Setterfield, Petrucelle (Drew, Balta)

$87k left.

Love to hear any thoughts.

Nick · 21/03/2019 at 00:24

Hey guys, so got a dilemma here, would love your thoughts and opinions as to what i should be going with.

1. B.Crouch, Grundy and Wallis

2. A.Brayshaw, Gawn and Dahlhaus

    Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 00:32

Option 2. Although don’t expect Dahl to be consistent he won’t see many midfield minutes like he did at the dogs. Maybe better options around

      Nick · 21/03/2019 at 00:40

Thanks Maverick. Any thoughts on who I could replace Dahl with? Maybe Greene, Billings?

        Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 01:09

Yeah I’d be banking 60k and taking Greene.

          Nick · 21/03/2019 at 10:42

Thanks mate. Your feedback is much appreciated

BlueBaggerJosh · 21/03/2019 at 00:28

Who to partner with Grundy?
Goldstein and hope he outscores Gawn or goes close enough for a sideways
Westhoff, swing him FWD and upgrade a fwd rookie to Gawn when the time comes

1. Whitfield and Billings
2. Z Williams and Dunkley?

    Mick · 21/03/2019 at 09:08

neil demons delight · 21/03/2019 at 08:44

The Final Piece to the premo puzzle is complete .All set ready to go. Fellow coaches, I have completely bucked the trend and gone exclusively GnR. No , none, nada midpricers in the Demons Delights. 12 real prems (over 500k) 8 rookies (sub 250k) and only 4 rookies with nada experience that just happen to be the 4 best rookies. The only slight query is Moore who is easily downgraded, but offers a great swing. I always wanted LAIRD and finally swapped WILLIAMS and Smith for Laird and Collins. Smith will never be a premo so remains a high scoring cash cow and Williams will never be a Laird but it took some thought and courage to do it. My byes are perfect with a 9 -7- 8 premo playing ratio. Though as TOPHAWK says some midpricers will flourish ,the task of getting it right is too risky. Libba Williams and Smith will be the optimum value picks as I see it but who knows. For now onwards and upwards with GnR Cheers Boys, good luck and have a great year NDD

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:53

Williams is in my team because he is in most everyones.

i was playing with the idea of slotting back Witherden or even Mills instead of Williams.

I just think Shaw will take all the kick ins and Williams will be ok at best.

have you thought about Rozee instead of Collins or Moore. Has DPP

      neil demons delight · 21/03/2019 at 13:11

As usual a mighty suggestion Derek Had Rozee earlier but drifted out. Collins will play but is limited and Moore is a disaster waiting to happen Appreciate your views and will check it out. Can you critique Johnathon Brown's team in today's sun Derek someone will put it up. In my humble opinion it is by far the worst team I have seen and he works for the H S supercoach as an expert..POPPYCOCK Browny delete and start again mate

        Derek · 21/03/2019 at 13:41

Rozee can play, but he might be up forward. Port do have Carlton and lions rounds 2 & 3, might kick a few and get a boost.

Prefer him over Collins for same price.

I won’t bother looking at Browns team, probably has 6 key forwards in it.

        Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 15:25

How bad is Browns tream! I used to talk to him ever week at work Neil until he moved here. But still see him now and then ill have to have a word with him!

        Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 15:37

Hey Neil what premo mids did u go with?

        Beezneez · 21/03/2019 at 17:51

Agree with you NDD about Browny"s team. Horrible. Expert???

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 16:24

Interesting approach mate. How many defensive premos do you have currently? My backs looking like starting with 1-3-2 at this point with ryan witherden and smith all coming in sub 500k

Id agree in part with the few mid pricers you named but would have to raise you a certain crouch brother at 400k. If his body is fit and firing thats an enormous output for a 400k player. Im risking him over the likes of miles or libba.

Catch you through the year here and in a couple of our leagues mate

GreendaleFC · 21/03/2019 at 09:29

Does anyone have any information about Josh Kelly? He didn't play in either JLT games but I couldn't find any injury reports about him over the last few weeks. I have to choose between Kelly + Butters or Cripps + any cheap mid rookie.

    Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 10:16

AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 09:47

Alright starting to panic a bit, it's SC eve and i'm feeling it.

One last query for you community, Billings or De Goey at f4? Leaning towards De Goey after Billings burnt me so badly last year, but as a pies man i can't see De Goey getting a huge amount of mid time.

    Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 10:02

    I can’t do billings.
Far more upside in de goey he is a star & in a top 4 side

      AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 11:50

Billings is very hard to select, still nursing my third degree burns from last year

    Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 10:12

Remember that the number of points allocated in a game is fixed. There isn’t enough points to go around at the Pies.. De Goey has to replace another player’s score, .. Adams score will be replaced by Beams, but when Adams comes back the averages will be lower across the top 6 or 7 players..
    Just something to consider..

      AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 11:51

Yeah good point Lazza, it's not fixed exactly but there are only 3300 points to go around. It really depends how often he gets released in the mids, i know treloar and beams will have stints forward so hopefully he can go in the guts for a third of his game time and the rest he can spend kicking goals

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 10:56

    not keen on either.

have you thought about Lycett make the perfect F4/R3 swing

gives you ruck support. plus i think he will be very consistent, nothing less than 80

      AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 11:52

That is something to consider Derek, not sure if Lycett will score over 90 very often though

        Derek · 21/03/2019 at 13:34

If he is the #1 ruck at Port he will score good.

Last year NicNat missed round 18 onwards. Lycett then scored, 90, 90, 118, 125, 35, 65. without DogDog. Not sure what happened rounds 22 & 23?

Averaged 84 last year coming of an ACL. Slow start to the year. Big Blokes take longer to get back, this year he will be better.

I think 85 is the worst he will do.

If Ryder spends time as a forward and Lycett is main ruck, should add 10 to that.

        Plus gives you tuck insurance.

          Derek · 21/03/2019 at 13:35

          Ruck insurance

          AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 16:46

Very interesting points Derek, you're certainly swaying me. I'll do some research into Ryder and his role/injury, cheers

Steeeve · 21/03/2019 at 10:24

I've had Neale since day one. Love his durability and new opportunity. But I just made enough coin to trade him for Macrae.
I can honestly see both of them averaging 115 this year, so logic tells me to start with Neale and bank the cash. Problem is, Macrae started like a house on fire last year whilst Neale was a slow started.
Macrae faces the Hewett tag this week but any low-ish score will drop out of his price calculations very quickly. He then has Hawthorn and Gold Coast. Lock in big scores there. I think even if he drops 100k early our cash cows will be too skinny to get near him.

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 11:00

I had neale most of the preseason, until he went handball happy in JLT

i see him needing to get 40 touches every week to score well

    i went down to Dusty

      Steeeve · 21/03/2019 at 14:13

I have had Dusty in and out of my team. Just can't commit to him. He didn't tackle last year which killed his average. Three years straight with at least 80 tackles then last year had only 50 odd. Tigs have a tough run after tonight too. He will probably go off for 150 tonight though

Will · 21/03/2019 at 10:29

Let's face it you're not gonna win the $50k, so why not have some fun? My team for 2019:

DEF: Z Williams, M Hibberd, N Newman, A McGrath, B Smith, J Ridley (S Collins, X Duursma)
MID: R Sloane, J Steele, J O'Meara, T Taranto, T Rockliff, B Crouch, D Sheed, T Libba (C Constable, Z Butters, T Atkins)
RUC: Goldy, Stef Martin (J Sweet)
FWD: J Dunkley, J Billings, T Greene, C Rayner, D Moore, W Setterfield (W Drew, N Balta).

My biggest regret so far is not fitting Paddy Dow in my forward line. You read that right.

Ray · 21/03/2019 at 10:34

Dunlkey and Constable or Billings and Walsh

sc2k19 · 21/03/2019 at 10:38

Steele and Collins or Duncan and a 123k defender?

TBone_9 · 21/03/2019 at 10:52

Gday boys, beyond pumped that we’ve got footy back from tonight! Pretty set on my team for now, will be tossing up to the deadline about Goldy/Dusty or Gawn/Libba (+100k in the kitty)

Whitfield, Williams B. Smith, Collins, Clark, Duursma
(Hore, Burgess)

Cripps, Oliver, Neale, Coniglio, Martin, M. Crouch, Walsh, Butters (Scott, Constable, Gibbons)

Grundy, Goldy (Sweet)

Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Setterfield, Drew, Balta
(Petruccelle, Parker)

23k remaining. I know it’s not the most unique team, but it’s a bunch of blokes I like watching and there’s a backup plan for everyone in case they go down with injury/suspension. Cheers πŸ™‚

    JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 13:00

Hi TBone, good to see you back again. I'm seeing a lot of teams with your structure, which puzzles me a bit, I'm going against the grain and having only two rookies in def/fwd lines and three in the mids, since I am more confident about the mid rookies than the other lines.

      TBone_9 · 21/03/2019 at 13:13

Cheers DJ, a pleasure to be back amongst you all. My structure being 3 rooks in the fwd line and defense? I have some faith in the job security of Collins and Clark, which is why paying the extra $ for them feels okay. I have zero confidence in the fwd rooks though… so Petruccelle to D. Moore is still something I can do. What’s your midfield looking like mate? Definitely the best rookies in the mid so that makes complete sense to me πŸ™‚

        JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 14:16

Hey TBone, the whole structure really, with you having only two rookies in the mids as well. My midfield is Cripps, Oliver, Coniglio, M.Crouch, A.Brayshaw, Walsh, Butters, Scott, (Constable, rookie, rookie.) So going with the G/R in the mids.

Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 11:30

Anyone else read that Cripps & pettrucelle are fighting for the one spot in eagles 22? Makes things interesting

    TBone_9 · 21/03/2019 at 11:46

Where’d you read that Mav? Yeah that is interesting… I reckon I’m gonna go Balta over him just

    Beezneez · 21/03/2019 at 12:05

Will wait till teams drop tonight to make the change if required.

    Loop · 21/03/2019 at 12:40

    Who is LeCras replacement? Waterman?

    KeenButClueless · 21/03/2019 at 13:26

Hi Mav. The AFL website says that Cripps has been ruled out of Round 1, but was looking at a Round 2 resumption. Whether that is Petrucelle’s spot or not is hard to say.

flagthistime? · 21/03/2019 at 11:46

Thoughts on Balta and Gibbons staying in for 3 games?

    dontblushbaby · 21/03/2019 at 12:57

J.Caddy will come in for Balta eventually

      Twilightingale · 21/03/2019 at 13:04

Someone like Mav Weller could be 1st to make way for someone like Caddy instead of Balta.
Positive sign seeing Balta and Lynch play together.

BRAD · 21/03/2019 at 11:54

thoughts on on 2 premos 1 mid pricer and 3 rookies in the backline (2-1-3 setup), a 4-1-3 setup in the midfield, 2 premos in the ruck and a 4-1-1 setup in the forward line due to a lack of reliable rookies?

Hey Community!

Dunkley or Robbie Gray?

    Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 14:20

I've gone dunkley just because it seems over the last few years Gray has been spending more and more time up forward. Then again with wingard gone, will he have to shoulder the load in the middle with wines?

      Ando · 21/03/2019 at 14:35

I just think there are too many question marks surrounding Gray's role, so I'm leaning towards Dunkley.

yung · 21/03/2019 at 14:02

Thoughts on the Hoff?? Currently have him at R2 ready to be swung forward when Grundy drops. Not too confident he is a top 8 forward tho.
help me

Nick · 21/03/2019 at 14:08

Hey guys, so got a dilemma here, would love your thoughts and opinions as to what i should be going with.

1. B.Crouch and Wallis

2. A.Brayshaw and Worpel

    Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 14:19

Number 2 I would go with only due to you are not worrying about injuries.

Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 14:18

DEF: Whitfield, Crisp, Z.Williams, Collins, Scrimshaw???, Duursma (Clark, Horne)

MID: Cripps, Kelly, Martin, M.Crouch, B.Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Scott (Constance, Atkins, Gibbons)

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (D.Fort)

FWD:Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Billings???, Setterfield, Drew (Petruccelle, M.Parker)

Question marks surround scrimshaw and his job security. If he is not who should i replace him with? Have I gone too top heavy with billings at my F4? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 14:37

Not to top heavy in the fwds, I think two rookies on that line are enough.

Ando · 21/03/2019 at 14:28

Hey Community! What are your thoughts on Nat Fyfe? Didn't play in pre-season but we know how damaging he can be. Will the surgery/no pre-season games be an issue?

Ben Jacobs is out for the Roos, so if on form could cause all sorts, and with Gold Coast and St. Kilda up next, what do we think about selecting him from the off?

Currently have a midfield of: Cripps, Oliver, Neale, Coniglio, Dusty, Walsh, Butters, Constable. Any one you would get rid of for Fyfe?

    JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 14:35

    Neale or Dusty.

Mitch · 21/03/2019 at 14:50

Hey guys wouldn't mind a few pointers/opinions if you have any. Team is currently

DEF: Loyd, Laird, Witherden, Scrimshaw, J.Clark, Duursma (Burgess, Hore)

MID: Cripps, Oliver (could end up being J.Kelly depending on if he gets up for round 1), Fyfe, M.Crouch, B.Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Atkins (Constable, Scott, Gibbons)

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)

FWD: Danger, Heeney, Billings, Greene, Setterfield, Balta (Drew, Petruccelle)

Captain_Risky · 21/03/2019 at 14:57

( I've gone Balta in tonight's game )

Liam · 21/03/2019 at 15:21

Might have missed it, but is there a JR group running this season?

    Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 15:56

    710443 Liam.

Derek · 21/03/2019 at 15:25

The divisions for the JR Elimination have been (almost) locked and loaded.

At the moment we have the divisions a little uneven.

Div 1 – 29 players
Div 2 – 22 players (140819)
Div 3 – 26 players
Div 4 – 23 players (697801)
Div 5 – 25 players

If a few players in Div 1, and one from Div 3, jump into Divisions 2 or 4.

No one is getting eliminated the first week.

I'll have to re-work the elimination rules to make it work, probably need a few more double elimination weeks.

    AuroraBorealis?! · 21/03/2019 at 16:44

I'll jump in div 2 Derek

Mitchell · 21/03/2019 at 15:30

Bobby · 21/03/2019 at 15:34

Whose likely to score more and earn more $$$
Walsh or Libba?

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 16:25

Assuming libbas body doesnt break down he will score more and make more $

      Derek · 21/03/2019 at 17:23

So he should. He is $90k more

    Goaled Fingers · 21/03/2019 at 17:44

Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 15:36

Anyone with Josh Kelly in your team … suggest you do a quick rethink if your 2nd choice is playing tonight..

    Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 16:32

DMoore and Cousins

Libba and Balta

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 16:18

Libba and balta for mine mate

Stupid Coach · 21/03/2019 at 16:00

This is hopefully my final team (pending the naming of teams at 6.15pm tonight). I am generally happy with my team although I have (for the first time in years) gone without Dusty Martin and not sure whether that will help me or hinder me (only time will tell). However, I would appreciate any comments/thoughts on my team and any changes you think I need to make it even stronger.

B: Laird, Simpson, Z Williams, Collins, Duursma, Burgess, McKay, Hore
M: McCrae, Cripps, Oliver, Coniglio, Heeney, Walsh, Drew, Hind, B Scott, Atkins, Gibbons
R: Gawn, Goldy, Sweet
F: Danger, D Smith, McLean, Blakey, Settlefield, Moore (Haw), Parker, Petrucelle

Thinking of swapping Moore (Haw) with Moore (Coll) to get a swing happening with Burgess however, just concerned that Darcy will be too injury prone and not play enough games to earn a decent price rise.

Any thoughts/comments much appreciated.

    Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 16:31

Interesting team to say the least.

Heeney in the guts is questionable. The lad should be a kepper for your forward line. I would swap him straight into your fwds for mclean and get a crouch borther, brayshaw, sloane etc.

Not sold on young blakey as being the bets cash generator and his JS is questionable.

Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 16:33

Alright community I’m finally releasing my team with only 3 hours to go till tigers v Carlton kicks off. I can’t stop fiddling with it and got a decent kitty..

DEF: hurn williams Smith Moore Collins Clark (duursma hore)

MID: Cripps Oliver coniglio MCrouch BCrouch Libba walsh butters (constable Scott Atkins)

RUCK: Gawn Goldy (bines)

FWD: danger heeney Dunkley Greene setterfield drew (pettrucele Burgess)

With the 150k I’m considering Greene -> darling or leave it & use it R3 for correctional trades
No doubt I’ll tinker more yet once teams drop!

    Dan · 21/03/2019 at 18:07

I think you are running with a high risk high reward structure in carrying Smith, Moore, Libba and Greene across different lines. I see 10 assured keepers at best and 14 maybe, if all of your midpricers pay off. What is your strategy with them, do you see them as stepping stones or keepers? It could pay off for you, but it's too risky for me!

      Maverick_ · 21/03/2019 at 18:24

Williams Greene and brad crouch I hope can be keepers libba I intend on going up to a macrae kelly Neale or Fyfe if any drop but he will score 90+ so he won’t need to be moved on too early. But I think I may go Greene to a premium F4 yet

        Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 19:53

Like your take this year Mav…could pay off, could not, who knows?…but it's more fun than just playing it safe.

Goat___23 · 21/03/2019 at 16:39

I’ve settled on a team community, rip into if if you see something that’ could be improved!
DEF: Lloyd, Sicily, Williams, Scrimshaw, Clark, Duursma// Burgess, Hore
MID: Macrae, Cripps, Neale, Merrett, Taranto, Libba, Constable, Scott/// Gibbons, Whoever else is named lol
RUCK: Grawndy
FWD: Danger, Heeney, Dunkley, Balta, Setterfield, Drew/// Petruccelle, Parker
50k left in the kitty.

GreendaleFC · 21/03/2019 at 16:41

Def: Lloyd, Williams, Smith, Hanley, Moore, Clark | Duursma, Hore

Mid: Macrae, Cripps, Fyfe, Martin, M Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Scott | Atkins, Hind, Gibbons

Ruc: Grundy, Gawn | Sweet

For: Dangerfield, Heeney, Dunkley, Setterfield, Drew, Parker | Corbett, Cavarra

Let me know your thoughts. Only have $1200 remaining, which means that I can't afford the likes of Constable. Might downgrade Cripps into Neale if I need to shore up my rookies.

If all three are named, two have been already, which two would you pick for your team out of, Balta, Petruccelle & Parker.

    Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 17:30

It's hard John cause Petrucelle might be out when Cripps gets back, Balta might not last long either if he doesn't perform, I've gone Balta and Parker.

      JohnDJ59 · 21/03/2019 at 17:39

Hey Russty, I've had Petruccelle and Parker for a while now, I think Balta and Petruccelle could be the better scorers, but Parker should have the best JS of the three, so yes a hard one, I'm very confident that whoever I leave out will go gangbusters.

        Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 17:43

Yeah always the way ay?..haha nothing worse than a rookie sitting there making no cash after being dropped too.

    FearTheBeard · 21/03/2019 at 18:06

TelescopicCox · 21/03/2019 at 17:48

Worried about DEF rookies. Is it worth making any of these moves so I can go Joyce to Scrimshaw?

A) Darling to Greene
B) Treloar to Dusty
C) Walsh to Rookie (Hind/Bewley)
D) Moore & Burgess to Parker & Scrimshaw

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 17:51

I like Dusty this year. Should bounce back

    Vinny · 21/03/2019 at 17:59

I just made a similar decision, I am strapped for cash as it is. I went from J.Dunkley to T.Kelly and therefore scrimshaw was in for burgess.

    I would probably go B or D.
B – Dusty and Treloar will score similairy this season I believe.

D – I dont think Moore will be all that good supercoach wise this season. I still don't understand why so many have jumped on someone with averages of 53.9, 57.5, 61.5, 49. I know he has a good preseason but in my opinion I am not totally convinced he will score much higher then this and generate little cash.

Dan · 21/03/2019 at 17:52

Hi community, I'm torn between two options.

1. Smith and Greene or,
2. Scrimshaw and Robbie Gray/another F3 at his price point.

My head is telling me to go with the more guns and rookies approach but with F3 being so hard to pick my heart is telling me to go give in to the midprice madness. What are your thoughts?

Lloyd, Laird, Williams, (Smith/Scrimshaw), Clark, Duursma, McKay [Burgess, Hore]

Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, Crouch, Crouch, Walsh, Butters, Hately [Scott, Atkins, Gibbons]

Grundy, Gawn [Sweet]

Danger, Heeney, (Greene/Gray), Drew, Balta, Parker [Setterfield, Petruccelle]

Hawk131415 · 21/03/2019 at 19:16

Ando · 21/03/2019 at 19:21

Start 2 on field from the following:

Drew, Balta, Setterfield.

Currently on Drew and Balta.

    DavidC · 22/03/2019 at 07:53

    Hope you didn't go Balta.

      Ando · 22/03/2019 at 12:13

      I did πŸ™

Joe · 21/03/2019 at 19:46

I've created a league if anyone is interested in joining 349802

Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 19:49

Wish the Blues could kick a few goals, they're looking competitive, just not scoring.

    ZzZCalintZzZ · 21/03/2019 at 20:09

Hey Russty they are 1 pure forward away from being a banging team. McGovern still not good enough to take the number 1-2 defenders

      Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 21:27

Yeah mate bring back Fev, his 125 kg, 39 year old ass could probs do better than the fwd line there now, happy with the way they played tonight, apart from not having many reliable options in the fwd line to kick to.

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 20:47

Wouldnt mind the big rig crippa pinching a snag or 2 in the second half 🀀

ZzZCalintZzZ · 21/03/2019 at 20:04

Created a league

Good luck this year

    Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 20:40

Hi Dave, I'm already full this year mate, good luck for the year bud.

      ZzZCalintZzZ · 21/03/2019 at 21:00

      You too mate

_Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 20:46

Very early days but glad i didnt jump on the walsh bandwagon. All those people having a go at me saying hes this hes that…🀨

    Ja191 · 21/03/2019 at 20:50

I think the key is that he's getting a lot of it, 47 dt. Butchering it a bit but not too concerned

    Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 20:54

He'll work his way into it Kyle..I'm happy to be on the wagon.

    Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 21:33

    Walsh now 66 3qtr time!

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 22:56

You know you should post things like that before a game is over. The boy is a Gun.

He will be in my team late into the year

      Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 23:00

Walsh? Ya kidding Derek? He will be even more expensive with a smaller return .. he ain’t a keeper..

        Derek · 21/03/2019 at 23:51

He isn’t a keeper, but will be a late upgrade. Should be gone by round 12.

        Like TKelly last year

          Sharkmove_King · 22/03/2019 at 03:58

Agree Derek turn him into a Round 12/13 premium before his bye, he won't miss a game until then.

The best part about his 67 it hides how well he played. If he scores 80-90 next week nobody will make the correction trade because of the 67. That 67 will only be in 1 price increase.

Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 20:58

Charlie Curnow's a bit of a doofus, just kicked it along the ground when there was a Tiger in the goal square…maybe he's shortsighted?

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 21:03

Not sure whether he was going for the goal or kicking it to mcgovern who was also in the square. In either case played it poorly

for a mid pricer to round out my Midfield do I play it safe with Libba or back Fiorini for a break out season?

    Derek · 21/03/2019 at 22:54

Brayshaw Freo is worth having a look at. Will be locked in the guts with Fyfe and Mundy. Very talented high draft. Will do very well

      Russty_ · 22/03/2019 at 03:28

I got him in my draft side Derek, agree he could be really good this year.

        Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:10

Thanks for the feedback, Russty & Derek, I could look at him as my first upgrade if I don't back flip on him now, but I have a gut feeling that I am backing right now. I went into round 1 with:
DEF: Hurn, W. Milera, Z. Williams, B, Smith, S. Collins, J Clarke, (X Duursma, Hore)
MID: Cripps, Coniglio, L. Neale, S. Gonigliog! JOM, Taranto, Fiorini, Butters, (Constable, Atkins, Gibbons)
RUCK: Goldstein, T. English (Sweet- Loophole player)
FWD: Dangerfield, Heeney, Dunkley, Setterfield, Drew, Balta (Petruccelli Burgess)

_Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 22:09

Solid 3/4 performance from the blues. Showed a lot of good signs.

As much as i hate the diving flog rance nobody wants to see someone do a knee like that. Could see the knee colapse in all the replays as he landed. All the best to him in his recovery, not looking good at all.

    Russty_ · 21/03/2019 at 22:22

Horrible to see a good player like Rance go down in the 1st game of the season, wish him all the best.

    Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 22:56

The Walsh train will arrive 2020. Right move Kylie..

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:15

I agree, that young side showed some positive signs last night and pushed the flag favourites throughout a lot of that match. As generous as it was to give Richmond a 1 quarter head start, it would be interesting to see what could have happened if they played from the opening siren like they did for the rest of the game.

Prizza · 21/03/2019 at 22:15

Taking crippas 125 ??

    _Kyle · 21/03/2019 at 22:16

Im going grundy C vs the cats. Looked the goods at half time but slowed right down

    Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 23:07

Nuh.. was 126 btw.. I’m Cripps into Danger .. Eddie Munster will have a big year ..

Andy · 21/03/2019 at 22:32

Hurn or Whitfield?

    Lazza · 21/03/2019 at 22:44

Whitfield every day of the week

    Ja191 · 22/03/2019 at 06:41

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:15

both solid, but I went with Hurn (over Whitfield & McGovern)

Goat___23 · 21/03/2019 at 22:52

Did anyone else start Balta on field or just me?

    Funkhouser · 21/03/2019 at 23:40

Yeah I made the same stupid call, brought him into my team and straight onfield 10 mins before bouncedown.

    Ando · 22/03/2019 at 12:15

    I share your pain mate

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:18

I did, once he was named, I put him in with Drew & Setterfield keeping Burgess & Petruccelli on my bench)

Will · 21/03/2019 at 23:05

Take Cripps VC or take the punt on Gawn of Danger?

Shake_n_bake · 21/03/2019 at 23:11

Big last qtr for Dusty πŸ€”

Neil · 22/03/2019 at 00:22

Merrett brayshaw or brad crouch M5?
Merrett/brayshaw means Greene is my fwd.
going crouch allows darling at F4 instead

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:20

Darling F4 is nice, but I can't back Brad Crouch this season, I reckon best case he plays 2 games per month, worst case goes down for the season in the first month or so. Of the 3 I'd go Brayshaw. Good Luck!

s c tragic · 22/03/2019 at 09:14

Well my 1st you beaut decision for the season Balta on the ground. Aah well it was 50/50 chance. Live and learn.

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:20

    me too

Murray · 22/03/2019 at 10:18

Like blue chips stock on the stock exchange, so is Gawn and Grundy.

Blue chip and very expensive. So, my question is would you buy these 2 if they were ASX listed stocks knowing that they have a very expensive price, there ceiling room is limited and they will (not if) fall in price, not by a lot but I think they could drop to the 550-600k price range. This would represent a drop of about 20%. Just like in the stock market, this would represent a great buying opportunity.

So I am going on the theory that I could select, say a Goldstein and Jacobs for nearly 400k less than Grundy and Gawn. Whilst their SC output would be less (they are priced to ave 85-95), I believe they are fair value and will not drop much going forward. Of the two, I think Goldstein is worth keeping and he should do well but If Jacobs turns out to be a failure, then by all means upgrade to either Gawn or Grundy and treat it as a failed experiment.

By doing this, and I understand it is risky, it has enabled me to have spare coin to pick up 13 premos on other lines. For example:

Def Laird Whitfield, Williams and Smith plus the usual rookies (I think Smith could be a premo and a keeper if he scores well)
Mids Cripps Oliver, Martin, Gyfe M Crouch and Walsh + rookies
Fwd Dangerfield Heeney dunkley and T Kelly + rookies

This makes 13 premos plus Goldstein and Jacobs = 15 premos

So what do you think of this fellas, a good move? Risky but could pay off and would require less trades to upgrade other lines to premos

Let me know what you think

    Sharkmove_King · 22/03/2019 at 10:39

It's different because the team with the most points wins, not the highest value. Plus each trade changes everything

    neil demons delight · 22/03/2019 at 14:09

Smith and Williams are midpricers so you only have 13 prems .It comes down to your two midpriers against the cream of the crop rucks.Grawndy in a heartbeat

    Derek · 22/03/2019 at 14:44

You are talking possible 2 trades to save $300k if it happens.

Do you remember how valuable trades become?

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:21

I started with Goldie & English, with the plan to upgrade to Grundy once his prices comes down

Ando · 22/03/2019 at 12:21

Horrible news regarding Rance. Hope he recovers quickly.

Who takes his role in the Richmond defence?

    The Ranger · 22/03/2019 at 13:54

    Garthwaite I think.

      DavidC · 22/03/2019 at 16:45

Garth is first choice but he is coming off an injury and is a couple of weeks away. Balta is a good chance to be moved back there but maybe only for a couple of games until Garth is ready to go.

    neil demons delight · 22/03/2019 at 14:04

    Is Balta a chance?

      Russty_ · 22/03/2019 at 14:25

I was thinking that too Neil, he's got the size…don't know if he can play defence .

        Ando · 22/03/2019 at 15:20

        Fingers crossed he can!

      Ando · 22/03/2019 at 15:18

      That would be great!

    Paul · 22/03/2019 at 18:52

Definitely Garthwaite when he is ready. He has been unlucky the last couple of years with Rance, Astbury and Grimes ahead of him.

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:23

true, I hate to see players go down with seaosn ending injries, specially the great ones, they make the game so much fun to watch. He will be a massive out for them, all of my Tigers mates felt in 2017 that they were just 1 Rance injury from being finals irrelevant. It will be interesting to see how they cover his loss, players or shift of game play.

Stupid Coach · 22/03/2019 at 12:50

Last spot in the forward line – Blakey, Brander or Miers. All have questionable job security but I already have Rozee, Burgess (Def), Settlefield, Petrucelle and Parker.

Is it worth going with Sweet in the R3 position as the weekly Captain Loophole option or swap him for Clarke (Ess) if he gets named in the final 22 tonight.

Also, midfield is currently McRae, Cripps, Oliver, Coniglio and Brayshaw (Melb). Should I stick with Brayshaw at M5 or is there someone better (other than Dusty who played last night) that is a better option for the same price.

Appreciate any thoughts/comments.

    Derek · 22/03/2019 at 14:39

Do you have Drew in the mids?

You might need to stick Drew in the forwards and jump on Butters (or Atkins) in the guts

    Derek · 22/03/2019 at 14:41

    Can you stretch to Merrett?

I think he can be a top 8 mid

Brayshaw is going to get tagged and score 40

      Stupid Coach · 22/03/2019 at 15:14

Thanks Derek. I have Drew in the Mids with Constable, Scott, Gibbons and Hind (he will go if not named in the final teams tonight). I have deliberately gone with Drew in the middle as I have no other mid/fwd to create a swing with Heeney and Devon Smith in the forward line. I can swap Brayshaw with Merrett or M Crouch.

        kinglear009 · 22/03/2019 at 17:42

Have to agree with Neil here – a playing, cash generating rookie is more important than a non-playing or spud rookie that allows you dpp.

      neil demons delight · 22/03/2019 at 16:28

      oliver will get the tag

        kinglear009 · 22/03/2019 at 17:46

        Oliver will destroy the tag

      Lazza · 22/03/2019 at 19:43

If you can stretch to Merrett, then go M Crouch

    Dermin8r · 22/03/2019 at 19:25

around Brayshaw's price range I really like Mundy (plus the Freo Brayshaw to feed off of him for a break out season)

      Stupid Coach · 23/03/2019 at 10:46

Thank you all for your advice. I started with Merritt last year and unfortunately he got concussed in round 1 and understandably took a while to get back to his best. I am still trying to sort out my defence – is it worth having Collins and Rozee (similar price) or should I go Collins and Scrimshaw, save some cash but lose the DPP with Burgess.

        Russty_ · 23/03/2019 at 13:03

You could go Rozee and Scrimshaw, Rozee has the same DPP as Burgess.

Ando · 22/03/2019 at 13:03
