PODCAST: Preseason is officially ON

Filed in Supercoach by on 03/12/2018 • views: 6261

We’re BACK, baby!

We’re dusting off the old time trials, Lekdog’s training with the midfield and Barron is setting personal bests on the 2km time trial. Damo has added some bulk to his brain, Kev has added contested marking to his game and Patch is trying to suppress a video of him with some white powder somewhere in Vegas.

But the important thing is we are back. Four of us sit around and have a chinwag about what we make of positional changes for the 2019 season, give our early thoughts on the ruckline and also fire a few cheap shots at each other – because what else are friends for.

The team picker for Supercoach gold kicks off next week, so jump in early and give us your thoughts on season 2019!

And community – tell us what you want to see from us in season 2019. Anything more, anything less, any changes – give it to us and we'll see what we can do.

    • JR_Damo says:

This was super fun to record. Thanks for having me on again!

    • Cpt says:

      Jock, Crouching and Higgo appearances.

      • Cpt says:

        On occasions

      • Patch says:

Will pose the question mate, but I reckon they're enjoying retirement. Crouching still hasn't been since since the Richmond grand final win

    • Tyruddanaut says:

I'd like to see some in-depth analysis of the left field, or almost completely unthought of, options. Players who have potential but no-one knows exists

      • Russty_ says:

It's a nice idea Ty, but when you make those calls, and they turn out wrong, one looks like a fool, a genius if they come off, but how many of even the celebrated rookie picks end up mediocre for that year, seems all but one or two each season.
Tis hard to predict when a player with potential will break out of their rut and be exceptional, I think it has a lot to do with what's happening in their life…and their mental attitude.

  2. BrownlowBoy says:

Thoughts on Yeo despite losing DPP?

    • Rick Grimes says:

Still tempting. Averaged 124 over last 6 weeks. Could get overlooked.

    • Patch says:

Hard to say without seeing the composition of the midfield and prices. Could be a very good POD based on his last month or so

      • PizzaSafety says:

he did not average 124 over his last 6, he averaged 113. He did average 111 for the season if you take away the game he scored 27 where he manned Danger and 115 in his last 11 post bye. I don't see Gaff impacting his scoring as Gaff plays the majority of his time on the wing and it didn't when they played together this year. If anything Gaff would help him by getting the tagger sent to him instead of Yeo.

I will 100% be picking Yeo as a pod next season, I think he has a 115 average in him if he can get his disposal numbers up and his clangers down.

    • FotherMUcker says:

Yeo is a gun but wondering where he plays is more important than wondering how he plays. I don't think they can keep him out of the midfield so his numbers should be good. The trade off is price versus output. His starting price might be a bit high.

  3. ToneStar says:

Welcome back guys, I needed my hit of SuperCoach medicine…

  4. Stirlsy says:

Nice to have you back guys, a guest appearance from the old guy or Higgo would be great if they have the time before the season starts.

    • Patch says:

Cheers mate! I think they're enjoying retirement but will pose the question to them. Welcomoe back to you, who are you looking at early days?

  5. Anonymity_is_a_Right says:

This preaseason I'd like to see a greater focus on the rookies and players that switched teams including discussions as to why they'll get a game round 1 and what impact they'll have on current team. eg will other players in that team score higher or lower due to the new inclusions. And less discussions about whether we should start TMitch, Doch, Cripps, Oliver etal.

Also, Back in the days before all of the current crew there was a preseason spreadsheet from Higgo that analysed each players previous performance in 3 blocks 1.early-season, 2. mid-season, 3. end.
That datasheet showed consistent patterns across multiple seasons for certain players regardless of who the oponents were and Identified the Premos you should get early and those to avoid in your starting lineup. Resurrect that please
I'd also like to see less trolling and greater attention paid to attribution responsibilities when you publish info from other websites verbatim except for arrangement and a few wisecracks

    • Patch says:

      Cheers Anonymity!

That spreadsheet was an absolutely mammoth undertaking done by Old Ocker each year. I'm not going to promise we can make another one of those because of simply how much work goes into it – I know I'll struggle time-wise to make a dent in it.

However, discussion over players who have moved is absolutely something we can do and look at doing more of.

      • Nathan says:

No Patch it was a couple of years before Old Ocker showed up
        Fyffe is life

  6. HarryH76 says:

Surely Danger is the most picked player in 2019?

    • Rick Grimes says:

I reckon the Doc will take that honour.

    • Russty_ says:

It's gotta be Billings doesn't it?…this will be his breakout year…lol

      • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Cant believe i didnt listen to gator and started that spud.

Good thing i fixed that mistake quick smart and he copped it in the neck ⚰

        • Russty_ says:

Hey Trig, yeah I did the same mate, started him and culled him quick smart, should've listened to Gator! 🙂

          • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Yep dont think any saints will make the cut on field next year.

Hind with speed to burn (which is what the saints r crying out for) will earn a spot on the pine.

With danger fwd and good options back reckon will go one less premo in the mids. 😁

            • Russty_ says:

Yeah the Saints traded sensibly this time and acquired several workmanlike, mature aged players who may never get a game or if they do, won't affect games very much, thus ensuring the team's future mediocrity..bye bye Richo after next year, if not during the year.

              • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Bit surprised no one picked up Freeman with a late rookie pick?

                • neil demons delight says:

hammies would put clubs off…Off topic but Kwaja's catch could well be the best ever and got Kohli out

                • Russty_ says:

Think I read somewhere, he'll be playing VFL all year, they probs wanna see whether he'll break again or not before they write him off for good.

          • neil demons delight says:

Make it three I didn't listen to Gator also What a spud.Hard to find a saint selection for the Demon Delights.

      • Patch says:

        Lock of the year 😉

  7. neil demons delight says:

2018 podcast started slowly with can laughter etc but really ramped up A credit to you guys Jock and Higgo are irreplaceable no matter what so make it yours fellas. One of the biggest issues was the trolls so please no more of the twins. good luck boys NDD

    • Patch says:

Cheers NDD! We're in our pre-season as well so we're blowing out the cobwebs, but expect Lek and I to be screaming at each other in no time. More moderation and commenting is on my radar for 2019.

    • Rabbits16 says:

      the twins hahaha

  8. Randomcliche2 says:

Damn. Looks like it's just me. But I've tried listening in both Chrome and Edge on the work computer and it was inaudible – real quiet and sounded like it was coming through a drunk electronic speech reader. All good, running through the phone.

    • Patch says:

I know the audio wasn't great considering we were recording from four different states but it certainly didn't sound inaudible to me? Did anyone else have this issue?

      • Russty_ says:

Hi Patch, the volume varied and the quality, sometimes it sounded like a few of you were on the phone but it wasn't inaudible for me. I listened through my laptop.

      • Randomcliche2 says:

I suspect it was my work computer, because even the download did it. Worked fine from phone. Just putting it out there in case anyone had the issue.

  9. Northernsoul74 says:

Some intel from down the Whitten Oval is that Bailey Williams is training with the mids. I assume he’ll be a defender in SuperCoach. Dogs fans know how good he is but probably underrated outside the club. Watchlist.

    • dontblushbaby says:

Thanks for the heads up N74, what do you think his price will be ?

      • Northernsoul74 says:

No idea but guessing it will be awkward. Think he finished up around $360k last year but did go well over $400k at one point.

    • Patch says:

Love me some early-season midfield intel mate. Will keep an eye on him

  10. PizzaSafety says:

Nice to see you all back fellas, hope you've had a decent off-season.

Can't say I'll be going anywhere near Jack Ziebell but Whitfield and Danger are great inclusions. Not sure if I will be able to start Whitfield, it will come down to how much I will need to spend on rookies because I'm intent on going 6 deep in the middle with Dusty at M6 (or Zerrett) and I also plan on starting Grundy, Titch and Danger (but not Gawn).

I think Witherden will average between 95-105, he's actually averaged 87 two years in a row when you take away the injury affected score this season and he averaged 98 in his last 6 and 95 in his last 9 this year. For his first two seasons that's pretty impressive. If I need to save money I'll go for him over Whitfield even though I think Whitfield improves and averages 105. I'll do this in the hope that Witherden slides into the top 6 defenders for the year. I expect Laird, Lloyd and Sicily to drop in average and I think you "have" to start Doch and Williams.

Brad Crouch is too awkwardly priced for me, he'll be about 430k, he's probably not good enough to be a keeper and won't make you that much money and he's also injury prone and coming off an injury. Hanners is cooked in my opinion but Libba could be insanely cheap and worth a look, although I'm not entirely sure how they will price him.

    • neil demons delight says:

Hi Pizza Thinking of going one less mid and keeping set and forget Gawn/ Grundy. If Pruess even plays he will be a backup . The word is he will trial as a forward. Maybe Hogans replacement watch JLT

      • PizzaSafety says:

Hey Neil this is definitely the decision that could come back to haunt a lot of us but I think Gawn just averaged his highest score by 9 points at age 27, is an injury risk and might be sharing ruck duties. Those things make me think I don't want him in my side at his price. It is hard to find a choice to replace him but I'm currently looking at Nankervis even though I think he will need to improve his ruck work significantly to average 110+ (which is what I'd be hoping for), his age is the right type for the job in my opinion.

        • neil demons delight says:

I had Nank all year last year ,couldnt get Grundy in. with few regrets, but Gawn does go huge.Wouldnt be worried with injuries as he will be looked after with Pruess there, however this will impact on his scoring

          • PizzaSafety says:

Yeah Preuss is the main reason I won't pick him, along with it being his best year at his age. I feel like players dip a little when they peak as old as 27, but he's a gun and has only been this type of player the last few years and could prove me wrong. I still expect him to average 115-120 but I feel like gambling on another player making up ground on him (I still expect him to finish as the 2nd best ruck). Nank has some upside if he can win more hitouts, but I'm not sure if he's as naturally talented at that as he is at the follow up work and intercept marking. He only won 41.5% of his hitouts this year. This year I managed to trade Martin to Grundy at Round 21, so I got a small taste haha.

    • Patch says:

Cheers mate, and to you too!

Witherden a tasty one, Pizza. Is high on my radar and Brisbane defenders will be heavily discussed this season.

Doch and Williams have their spot to lose at this stage.

    • NostraDumbArse says:

I'm with you 100% on Grundy and no Gawn today. Pruess wouldn't have gone to a club that couldn't guarantee him regular games. With the Demons midfield Max might kick 40 as Fwd ruck but we all know how accurate he is in front of goal so more likely 8goals 32 behinds either way he's more likely to drop by 50k than he is to rise by 50k.
I don't have witherden in my top 10 starting defenders because I feel that he starts slow and will drop $ before byes
Whitfield is like one of those girls with long legs and big boobs in a short tight skirt that buys you drinks and begs to come back to your bangkok hotel room. They look good superficially but they always get your cash before providing a shocking let down.

  11. dontblushbaby says:

Is anyone considering J.Westhoff as a Fwd now as he Ruck/Fwd status ?

    • PizzaSafety says:

Definitely not going to start him because he's old and overpriced and will lose his scoring friendly role but I will pick a rookie forward-ruck on my ruck bench in case he or one of the other R/F's end up being good enough to be an F6/7 and good cover.

    • Patch says:

Not at this stage mate – needs midfield/ruck time for mine but we will be having a closer look when articles start coming up

  12. nathan says:

does anyone know date of the day supercoach team picker comes out

  13. NostraDumbArse says:

I predict back-to-back for the weagles and yeo to be the biggest mistake that supercoaches make in 2019

  14. NostraDumbArse says:

Did the Lions recruit people to play footy or people to keep their fledgling sports medicine clinic in business?
Top Tip from my 2019 crystal ball is don't start any lions newbies.

  15. Derek says:

    G’day fellas, thanks fellas.

I’d like to see some of our regulars give us plenty of inside word about their own club. We all follow our own club pretty close during the off season, especially the new recruits, but know stuff all about other teams.

Info about position changes are critical. Medical reports. We can’t all watch every club. But as a community we can.

    Thanks fellas

    • neil demons delight says:

Good day Derek One player you relive each year is MILLS. This may be his year with Hannas gone Any word from your lad about him

      • derek says:

i've started with him the last 3 years, maybe this will be his year.

my lad gave footy away, did his year 12 and off to uni

I just remember watching him at the academy, he is alot bigger than people think and his rugby background makes him hard to tackle and he is a good tackler. He might be a decent price.

        • neil demons delight says:

thanks Derek on my watch list particularly if he gets more mid time JLT and his price

          • dontblushbaby says:

429k is a bit awkward ? However with a good season he could add 100k ?

  16. Dice_real says:

2019 supercoach pick from my club…Aaron Francis.
2019 POD pick, Jack Crisp. Tipping he'll avg 95+

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Aaron Francis hey 🙂 Sell him to me. What's his role going to be why the step up?

As for my club, slim pickings this year, players who I think will step up are a bit awkwardly priced, to make them not relevant. One who always gets talked about because of injury discount doesn't have an injury discount this year and doesn't have the risk associated with it. So lets talk a Jaeger O'meara. Many might not want to talk about a previously hyped player. I don't think he'll make my team, but at 92 avg, there is good reason to think he can go higher – 105 easy, but sketchy to see if he can make that 110+ you need for a front line Mid. First half of the season he was getting back into things. In the middle he got going producing good scores. I think a concussion late in the season probably impacted him a bit. His TOG is about 80% and could go 5% higher. Titch does 90%. It might just be the season you want him – the season where no one is talking about him. 🙂

    • Patch says:

I've got a very sneaky eye on Aaron Francis, Dice. Really rate his work at the back end of last year but he's got to do a lot of work to start in my sidie

      • Dice_real says:

Yeah will depend on his preseason and how he goes but loving the back intercept marks, he could ton up from 12 touches. He's a junior McGovern. I'll see how he fits in my structure but probably just out for me, if in it's only to make some coin but I think he'll start too pricey.
Jack Crisp will start in my backline this year

    • Dice_real says:

Also Francis last 3 games avg 95, avg 15 touches

  17. Keen says:

How do we think Mumford and Clark will be priced?

    • Randomcliche2 says:

      Mumford $350k. 35% discount to average (98 avg, 5500 magic number) #cunningham'slaw

      • PizzaSafety says:

        this year they only did 20% discounts for Nic Nat & Birchall, so 98.3 x 5558 x 0.8 = 437k.

        • Randomcliche2 says:

Cunningham's Law. Love it. Thanks PizzaSafety. And here's me thinking Mumford had been out for as a long as Zac Clarke but no… Clarke 2016, Mumford 2017, so perhaps 30-35% for Clarke? But yeah, not mummy.

          • PizzaSafety says:

They've released some of the prices and I was totally wrong, Mummy will be 332k. All sorts of different discounts for different players that I can't make any sense of. For example they've discounted Doch by 17.9% but Brad Crouch by over 20%. CD getting experimental.

  18. TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

    4 things.

    1. Good to see you guys up and about early. Another big season coming up.

    2. Troll for trolls and eliminate them early. Maybe everyone should have an account/log on?

    3. Every year I/we try not to get sucked in by the excy first-year draft pick. It has been proven time and time again the mature age is the way to go. Much cheaper and these guys will leave nothing on the park now they got their shot.
Gonna go early on this one.
Get on hind. Speed to burn and will feature in saints best 22 either on a wing (new rules gonna be big for wingers) or streaming out of defence. Saints crying out for speed in back half hind has it in spades.

    4. Anyone running a BBL comp this year. If so let us know the code.

    • PizzaSafety says:

I agree, making everyone have an account, although annoying, will stop some of the trolling.

    • Russty_ says:

Couldn't agree more on point 2 Trig, there's already some flog or flogs, hell bent on filling the pages with inflammatory crap, or just plain spam.

    • gator59 says:

Hi Trigga starting a BBL League called Jocks Battlers… Code is … 200998 … First in best dressed so get in.. Cheers Gator

      • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

        In like Errol 😁

        When is kickoff?

        • PizzaSafety says:

On the topic of rookies, you're definitely right Trig, the mature ones are always the ones to pick. That being said Stephenson and Naughton (until the injury ruined his cash generation) were good picks for over 150k this year with reliable JS, even though most high draft picks failed. You do get more JS with some of them compared to mature players and also some extra points but it comes at a cost. Barron Von Crow's article on rookies and return on investment is very insightful and shows that even with the same amount of cash generation you'll still have more return on investment with cheaper players.

I think Walsh is worth picking at this early stage, and maybe Rankine (who I won't pick if there's enough promising 117k players). I'm not that hot on Setterfield at this stage due to the injury he just suffered and his price, but we'll see how he goes in JLT. Bewley, Hind, Parker, Cavarra, Wilkie and Hore all look like promising mature aged cash cows. Very early days but it's fun to think about

        • gator59 says:

19th dec is kick off Trigga

      • WTFoxtrot_58 says:

        I'm in. Thanks Gator.
Think you need a lot more luck in this variant.

      • Patch says:

I'm into the BBL league and am putting an early claim on the spoon

    • Patch says:

Cheers mate, your second point's one that's popped up a bit and we're definitely going to be discussing how to be better at it.

Love your point on the rookies, Bazza and Damo are all over it for now and Hind will be in my early drafts.

  19. neil demons delight says:

Looks like many will jump off ALL AUSTRALIAN NO. 1 ruckman MAXY GAWN .Please do ,big mistake fellas. You are searching for something not there. Footy is now big business and the dees are at the forefront. At best Preuss will go to some interstate games and Gawn will miss a few,but he is our undisputed no.1 ruck not a forward. You will find Wiedeman taking the relief ruck duties as he has been training for now He is also improving his ruck work .It was a brilliant move getting Pruess but like at NORF with Goldy purely a back uprelief NDD

    • Rick Grimes says:

Risks have to be taken somewhere. I'm probably gonna pass on Maxy to start.

      • PizzaSafety says:

Goldy was 27 when he averaged 129 and he followed it with a 108. Averages like Gawn's are incredibly hard to sustain especially when they spike at his age, this fact is in the data. He will be the no.2 ruck for the year in my opinion, but I don't think by a huge enough margin to justify the price. He is just one year removed from averaging 91.6

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Wow. I didn't expect two shoot downs so fast. I think Preuss is the unluckiest bloke in footy outside those having to do more knee recos than they have limbs. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe his situation is about to change.

It still leaves me choosing between starting 1 or 2 of the best two ruckmen. I'm only starting one. Sorry NDD, but gunna take the younger one. I'm still planning on him making my team. I think there is value to be had in the on-field ruck line and I'm going to take it. But lets be realistic (it's not even xmas) If this view changes I'll welcome him without too many concerns.

      • neil demons delight says:

Can't work out why Pruess chose the dees. Could easily have gone to the saints or dogs as the no.1. Having a catch up with Max at Loch shortly Whether he fills me in is another story.

  20. TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

    This post is anything but.

Think you got your letters mixed up.

    This is JR not COSCO.

  21. gator59 says:

Starting a BBL League for anyone that's interested … Jocks Battlers.. Code is 200998 so jump in if you want,, all welcome

  22. PizzaSafety says:

AFL.COM.AU reporting that Yeo will have a delayed start to preseason after having surgery on his toe in the offseason, he was going to be the most important POD in my team but now I'm unsure. He was delayed last year as well but I was really hoping he would be even fitter next year. He will go into full training in January. A lot of other relevant information here.

  23. derek says:

at least this year they have made it a bit easier to pick our starting team.

only need to select 28 this year.

i'm assuming everyone will have dangerfield and Doch, just leaves 28 other places to fill

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Danger I agree, and if they give Doc the full discount then hells yeah. I do remember when they pulled a swifty with Gaz and didn't give him the full discount…

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

See they just released top 10 prices.

      Grundy/Gawn combo a cool $1.4M!

Used to be you saved a bit of coin in the ruck. 🙄

      $512K for Doc.

      • neil demons delight says:

hey Trigg thinking I or 2 less mids is the way I am going though goldy or nank appeal tough call

      • AuroraBorealis?! says:

Could you (or someone) possibly please copy and paste the list? I refuse to pay herald suns premium to access mediocre articles

        • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

          Here u go AB.

          1. Grundy $708,200 (most expensive)
          2. Titch $700,800
          3. Gawny $692,100
          4. Macrae $ 698,700
          5. Danger $660,500
          6. Crippla $648,200
          7. Clarrey $622,700
          8. Fyfe is life $618,100
          9. J. Kelly $617,800
          10. Jakey Lloyd $608,200.

So at least 10 players over $600k with two over $700k.

Gonna have to be really selective premo picks as gonna chew up the green big time.

          • GrannyMcBuddha says:

Ouch that is basically my ten starting Prems. almost 5.9 mil gone from the bank already. Wish that I could pawn a few of those premiership cups that I won for a few extra $ in 2019.

        • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Cause Im feeling generous value elsewhere (discounted due to injury)

          B. Crouch $418k
          B. Smith $332k
          J. Viney $450k
          Hannas $326k
          Tobias Green $355k
          Fasalo $250k
          Setterfield $145k
Williamson $190k (if gets going % owned will spiral upwards esp with Doc going down)
          Sam Collins $189k
          GHS $270k

A little taster to whet the appetite.

          • AuroraBorealis?! says:

Cheers for all this mate, setterfield looks like great value and alarmingly so does Toby Greene. Gonna have to try hard to avoid the mid pricers this year

          • GrannyMcBuddha says:

Viney looks like a good buy if he doesn't make high contact and automatically miss 3. I almost have to start Mr Green at that price and all the rest are great value and relatively risk free except Break Crouch.
Thanks for that young man I'll crotchet you a teapot cover

    • Patch says:

Well we've now lost one of those picks with Docherty doing his knee again (poor bastard)

  24. Northernsoul74 says:

Apparently Docherty May have done another acl.

  25. Cossy says:

Thats sad for docherty, I think the blues really needed his leadership on the park this year if they were any chance to improve.
Just hand the crows the 2020 number 1 draft pick now, what a genius trade

  26. PizzaSafety says:

My first crack at a team after the prices have dropped:

    Def: Whitfield, Witherden, Williams, rookies

Mid: Titch, Fyfe, J Kelly, Neale, Dusty, Zerrett, Walsh, the rest rookies

    Rucks: Grundy, Nank, dpp loophole

Forwards: Danger, Heeney, Dunkley/Wingard, Setterfield, rookies.

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Fun begins. A few there that will get debate this year. I'm not on the Witherden train. Which Dusty is going to play this year? The I'm looking for a contract and premiership one or 2018 Dusty? Can't argue with the rest. Neale points uptick with change, nice pick-up (not in myT). I do think that the set/forget ruck G/G ruck will cause some other lines on other teams some grief. 🙂 Rnd 14 Nank to Gawn well played.

      • PizzaSafety says:

Fair enough, Witherden isn't screaming break out like Sicily was last season but I still think he's got significant upside, with Doch out he's even more of a chance to be relevant by seasons end. I think Dusty was always a low disposal high impact player, he then got the disposals in 2016 but lost the impact, and combined the disposals and the impact in 2017. This season his disposal numbers were down again even though he was pretty impactful (he was a victim of his own success in a non-SC sense because a lot of people dismissed his season). I know he's no guarantee to do well but he still has the upside. Neale could do even better but I just think he's a very reliable player with a good bye. Nank can be traded to Gawn if the stars align 🙂

        • Randomcliche2 says:

I traded Dusty out last season, for a significant loss. I didn't even feel bad about till I ran out trades, but that is a different issue (will plan better links between byes and trades this year). If he performs well I may consider him for last upgrade, but he isn't in my top8 atm. Good luck.

  27. BAz says:

A lot of debate around the rucks cost, but its a set and forget position you just have to pay what it costs from the start and sacrifice money somewhere else.
Not enough good rookie rucks make enough money to upgrade to a premium later on in the year. (Grundy and Martin for me, with westhoff in the forward line in case of injury. Hoff is a points magnet as he plays loose everywhere on the park.
With players like Brad Crouch, Toby Greene, Jack Viney , Brodie Smith, even Hannerbry all well under 450k this year Im going easy on the ultra high priced premiums around the park.

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Good luck. I'm trying to drink a little less mid-priced cool-aid this year.

    • DavidC says:

I'm thinking the Hoff is a bit of a trap. Age 33 now and coming off his best season, role change with Lycett coming in. Might wait a few weeks and see what the best forward/ruck option is.

  28. neil demons delight says:

We were thrilled when one of our boys from the Phillip Island F.C. made his way to Carlton, even more so when elected captain. He has never forgotten his grass roots at the island and has been a great ambassador of the the island and PIFC.. Cheering for a speedy recovery DOC. sad day LEK

  29. gator59 says:

Only 6 spots left in the BBL League for anyone that's interested … Jocks Battlers.. Code is 200998 so jump in if you want,, all welcome

    • dontblushbaby says:

I'm In gator, just auto filled for the time being ,

    • AuroraBorealis?! says:

Just jumped in Gator, have absolutely no idea what im doing but it should be a bit of fun

      • gator59 says:

I don't know if any of us know what we are doing AB… Just gotta keep an eye out for the teams that play twice in the same round and try and work around them and also whose playing in future rounds if that makes any sense

      • Russty_ says:

You and me both mate, I'm trying to research at the moment from people who know what they're doing lol, good luck to all!

    • Crowmagnon says:

      Joined mate.

    • JEL says:

I'm in if you'll have me.
NFI how this is going to work with all the byes and double headers

    • Russty_ says:

Hey Gat..bummer I missed out mate, are you running any others?…or I could run a League if you guys would be interested?

  30. gator59 says:

    Welcum aboard DBB

  31. Josh says:

Anyone know when supercoach team picker is live?? anxiety is building

  32. Ralph says:

Can any Carlton fans tell us if Nic Newman will take over the Doc’s role or will that go to Williamson?

    • gator59 says:

They may still roll with old man Simmo again

    • neil demons delight says:

Agree with Gator here The Blues are in loads of trouble now .Simmo has it all to do and has proved more than capable .Newman is too hot and cold more suited to StKilda

    • JeannieDaTroll says:

Marchbank does pretty well when he's not broken same with Williamson. Hopefully they use Newman in the middle and push Murphy out to a wing, they need some grownups with grunt in the middle to help Cripps and the kids

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Docs role will be shared between newman and williamson.

Simmo will do his thing from the other pocket.

  33. ConcernedViewer says:

What's with all the spam links? Is somebody paying for that as advertising?

  34. Rabbits16 says:

Docherty out for the season AGAIN i hear?

  35. NotATroll says:

I'm considering Grundy/Mumford with rk/fwd bench. did any teams sign up a mature aged ruck/fwd or a rookie ruck likely to get a game?
If a player was 123k in 2018 and only played 2 games averaging 50 what would be his likely price in 2019?
How cheap will Candy-Calf Harley be? I hear that he's doing well?
Tom Williamson played 15 games in 2017 averaging 50 and then missed last year with a back injury will he be less than 250k?
I Carlton Tragic said that Tom Bugg is in the mix for a major defensive role now is he worth a look?

  36. Toby says:

Danger the muppet may be most owned but I for a FACT will be second most owned. Brown low for me this year. B&F, Premiership, Coleman to name the rest. Wot more do ya want. Way too easy for me! Don't pick me at your peril MF!

  37. JAMES SICILY says:

    SC is open flogs

  38. TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

    Man that is tough.
Anyone you want is over $550k
Chews up the salary quick smart.
    Danger, titch, grundy $2M.

    Not sure about def rooks.
Might have to go pretty deep there.

    Rooks ok in mid.
    Leaning towards 1 less mid.

First look. Gonna need to get creative. 🤔

    • gator59 says:

It sure is gunna test the nerves on which way to go this season

      • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Bit of a bugger hind is mid only
Was gonna use him as a def cash cow.

        First draft.
        4 – 4 – 1 – 4

4 premo mids only as looks like best rooks are mids.

Going with the lads I missed out on last year.
        Grundy and mccrae.

  39. Nathan says:

Anybody else who had supercoach gold last year that can't access 2019 team picker?

    • Nathan says:

Apparently I had a 12-weeks FREE trial of supercoach stats last year and not SC gold. Rupert must have been drunk to be giving away 12 weeks for free.

    • Russty_ says:

Have you paid for the full subscription this year?

      • Nathan says:

for 2018 I think so but not sure. I can't believe that I'd get 12 weeks for free but maybe I did. Oh well looks like I'll have to wait like the rest of the plebs

        • gator59 says:

I had SC Gold last year and cancelled it when the season ended…. I renewed 2 days ago and can pick a team now

          • Nathan says:

            Thanks gator I'll try that.

          • Nathan says:

I don't even see an option for supercoach gold only supercoach stats and when I click that it tries to sign me up for a Digital Membership with weekly charges for 12-months! Screw supercoach I'll play AFL Fantasy this year instead

            • gator59 says:

Is there any small white writing above the defenders of your 2018 side…. That's where it should be and click on where it says 2019 Team Picker

              • Nathan says:

Thanks Gator I had that all in footy pass thing last year and the 12-weeks free was part of that. My team was so far behind and I'd burned so many trades I obviously didn't see the point in paying another $20 for 11-weeks of SC gold. Dumb move on my part the early access is worth the $20.
Oh well usually my first 300 drafts before it opens for plebs are crap anyway

  40. Russty_ says:

What's with all this red lettered spam?…why can't it be deleted and blocked immediately?…come on guys, it's your site, you must have control over this kind of crap.

  41. BrownlowBoy says:

    Big bash league code.

  43. Josh says:

Anyone filling spots in ca$h leagues? trying to find a few to jump in.. got about 5 vacant leagues. Cheers, email me [email protected] … with how much, any proof of prior leagues and how well they ran too would go into consideration

  44. Rabbits16 says:

2019 team picker is live yiiiiew

  45. Northernsoul74 says:

VFL star Gibbons invited to train with Carlton.

  46. Rick Grimes says:

    Anyone interested in Hanners? $326k.

    • gator59 says:

Believe it or not I'm contemplating on picking him…. And I stress only contemplating !!!!

      • Northernsoul74 says:

I think at that price everyone should at least contemplate.

        • dontblushbaby says:

A yes for me , he falls in the , if it goes bad he can be a downgraded to a Rookie who starts well after R2 that I don't have or at best someone that makes heaps of $ for an upgrade if required

    • neil demons delight says:

He will definitely be in saints best 22 so it's a yes

    • Nathan says:

See how he goes in the JLT Rick being at the saints he's sure to be back on the grog so could be a 100+ player again

      • Rick Grimes says:

That was my first thought. New club, few xmas/ny parties to get a skinfull. There were signs of him improving at the end of last season and he should hopefully have a full pre-season on and off the field. Reckon theres a lot of upside.

    • Lekdog says:

A lot of people comparing him to Libba…both have risks…I'll likely go guns n rookies in the mids

  47. gator59 says:

Just nick off with this crap!!!

  48. dontblushbaby says:

The Rucks – set and forget with Grundy & Gawn is a lot of $ , if you were to pick 1 who would it be ? and who would be your other choice ? Is Mummy an option at 320k ?

    • Ralph says:

Grundy. Mummy is an option if you have another cheap R3 that will play the first 2 rounds. Maybe look at Nank or Witts? Possibly even Big Boy

      • dontblushbaby says:

R3 will be my loop option , at this stage he is B.Williams – WCE Ruck/Fwd

    • Whitey says:

If you have Westoff as a fed you can swap him in for Mummy in the first two rounds. Just not sure how Lycett will affect his scoring.

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

got grundy / niasmith at R2 in draft 1

  49. Whitey says:

Will Lycett affect Westoff scoring. Can't remember if he scored better when he went into the ruck or when he was floating around the ground. Cheers, great to be back.

    • Lekdog says:

I reckon it will have a slight knock on his scoring if they still get Ryder in there sometimes…gut says he'll play forward though…someone can do the actual maths for us though I'm sure!

  50. WTFoxtrot_58 says:

    Samuel Wicks $102,400

    Shane McAdam $123,900
    Tom Wilkinson $102,400

    • Lekdog says:

      The Mummy!

    • gator59 says:

12 rookies @ $102k won't cut the mustard.. so it's back to the drawing board I think WTF

    • Rick says:

Downgrade Lobb and Sicily, and upgrade Mumford to Gawn

    • ToughBretts says:

Even if they're just placeholders, you should fill your bench with 117k rookies at the absolute cheapest. Very unrealistic to have so many 102k'ers

  51. Northernsoul74 says:

    Huge outlay in defence.

  52. neil demons delight says:

Getting a bit jack of seeing Derek beating me 2482 to 2267 in the granny and being reminded of no trades and 84k sitting there .Can I get into the picker if I didn't have gold. and can I delete Derek's constant reminder NDD

    • gator59 says:

I'm pretty sure you need gold to get the team picker neil… One way to silence derek is beat him in the granny

      • neil demons delight says:

I wish I could have but was tradeless with a lot that wouldn't get a game at StKilda. on field. Worth noting tho Gator how far we slipped at the end .Derek was ok with trades

    • Nathan says:

If you subscribe to heraldsun you'll get access to the team picker. That's what they told me but I subscribed last year for the free foxtel footy deal. If i'd just gone with supercoach gold and not subscribed I would have access to the team picker now.
This means that a subscription that includes all of the SC Gold features doesn't include the most important one.
My advice is to never subscribe to HS if you want early access to the team picker without subscribing again.

    • Derek says:

The old ‘no trades left problem’. I went into this years GF’s with no trades as well. You look back on season and wonder where they all went.

      • NEIL demons delight says:

Decent score 2482 Derek How many on field rooks did you have. Iwell look at your team unfortunately I still have it

    • Lazza says:

      Hey Neil,
If you wander over to Supercoach Talk they have a team picker you can download … just don’t stay there too long.. 🙂 Merry Christmas..

      • Ted says:

Thanks for that Lazza there's heaps of good supercoach stuff at that site

  53. Rick Grimes says:

Toby Greene. I have never owned him. If he's fit, looks bloody cheap.

  54. TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Surely its worth taking a gamble on a harley ride?

IF he completes a full preseason be a monty for a spot in the midfield? At the very least on your bench?

    $167k outlay – R.O.I is [email protected]

    • Rick Grimes says:

If he gets anywhere near the pitch. I'd wait and see him play two games first. But yes, crazy value for what we know he's capable of.

    • Nathan says:

I'll have him on the bench in every lineup until teams are announced for round 1. If he doesn't play I'll swap him for a rookie who is and maybe increase my kitty

    • $eeker says:

Ummm, how is Russty's post racist? Where does it mention the colour of his skin?
Thosel tendencies are all characteristics HB has displayed over the course of his career, nothing to do with the colour of his skin.
Sicily is a flog too for different reasons… is that a racist comment too?

    • NEIL demons delight says:

I enjoy your comments Nathan but you are way off with Russtys view on H B. Not the first time he has been misrepresented.

      • Russty_ says:

Hey Neil, not sure why this guy has it in for me but I can guess who he really is, that being said…I have Bennell in my team and am hoping he's put all his past behind him and has a great year.

    • Skindog says:

Dont think Rusty was being racist, just being honest, this clown is always in the sh#t,

    • Russty_ says:

Gee Nathan, you sound like someone from last season, who got banned for trying to encourage someone towards suicide, that same person also accused me of being a racist…I wonder if you are in fact SC 66?…probably, otherwise, why would you have a pre-existing problem with me?…pretty obvious mate.
To the other blokes who defended me…thanks fellas, you're stand up guys…I have no problem with anyone's race.

  55. gator59 says:

Here goes with # 1 of 10 million

Def… LLoyd, Sicily, Whitfield, Z. Williams, Francis,, Rookiex3

Mid… Cripps, Oliver , Fyfe, J.Kelly, Hanners, Libba, Bennell, Setterfield,,, Rookies x3

    Rucks… Gawn, Naismith, 1xrook

    Fwds… Danger, Dunkley, Spitter, Daniher… Rookies x4

    • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi gator59 I raise you. Def : Lloyd, Laird, Williams, Francis, Rookies x4 Mid: Titch, Oliver, Fyfe, Coniglo, Crouch, Rookies x6 Rucks: Gawn, Martin, Fwds: Danger, Smith, Heeney, Rookies x5.

      • gator59 says:

Hi JD.. Your squad looks good… Mine is not set .. I still have a lot of tinkering to do yet

        • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi gator59, never is set until the start of the season. I did have Grundy and Gawn for a while, but just couldn't afford it, also thinking about Green at F3 instead of Heeney at the start, hopefully Green will go up in price, then I can upgrade him to Heeney later on.

          • gator59 says:

I think everyone would love the 2G's as set and forget rucks, But how do you justify the price

            • JohnDJ59 says:

That is so true gator, better to just have one and then upgrade R2 later on in the year. I had Gawn and Nank to start with last year, then upgraded Nank to Grundy in round 9.

            • neil demons delight says:

I John's case it's GRUNDY for MARTIN and OLIVER or Fyfe for a Hannabery and IN yours GAT its GRUNDY for NAISMTH and the same OLIVER/FYFE for ZEIBELL really its both your ruck choices vs one of OLIVER/FYFE. Pretty sure JOHN follows the dees. so Gawn will play .Pruess wont influence my choice as he will be at CASEY GOOD LUCK to you both early days

              • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi Neil, I had a look at my side and to get Grundy to replace Martin, I would have to either replace Crouch for Hanners, or I can downgrade Francis to a rookie and Heeney to Green. So if I go with the GG tag team, I would probably go with the latter, since I am loath to change my top 5 mids.

                • Russty_ says:

Hey John, Hanners is looking allright mate, fit and firing, no injuries as in the last 2 years, If you could start with Gawn and Grunda…for the sacrifice of B.Crouch, I'd do it..he's only really good for 100 av or so…hanners could go better than that if he digs his new home and is fit.
If Hanners goes well he could make you 200 K or so.

                  • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi Russty, I should have put a M in front of the Crouch.I am really determined to stick with my top 5 mids this year, no mucking around, if I was able to get Hanners at M6 ,I'd do it.

                    • Russty_ says:

                      Oh yeah Matt…fair enough mate.

                    • JohnDJ59 says:

I tried out my team with the two Gs in it, what do you think ? Def: Lioyd, Laird, Williams, Williamson, Collins, Scrimshaw,( 2 Rookies). Mids: Titch, Oliver, Fyfe, Cogs, M.Crouch, Constable. Bewley, Hind,( 3 Rookies). Rucks: Grundy, Gawn,( Fort). Def: Danger Smith, Green, Rankine, Setterfield, Corbert, (Parker, Cavarra). Just about a guns and rookies team, not counting Williams and Green.

                    • Russty_ says:

Hey mate, good in theory but I'd be a bit worried about playing 3 rookies on each line for the sake of the 2 big rucks, it's a very risky strategy but if it works , could be gold, I'm gonna opt for Grundy and someone else, and a few more midpricers, and no more than 2 rookies on a line except for the fwd line, but that could still change too.
3 rookies on any line is extremely risky…I think.

                    • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi Russty, I mainly put that up to show how difficult it is going to be to have both Grundy and Gawn. I don't really have a problem with 3 rookies on each line, it's just being able to get enough of them to be able to do it. I also tried it with only two rookies in def and Mid and the only way I could do it was with a Grundy/mid pricer ruck and to only have four gun mids and I really don't want to do that, but I guess if it comes to that, I'll just have to grin and bear it.

                    • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi Russty, this is my team as per your guidelines. Def: Lloyd, Laird, Williams, Francis, Williamson, Collins, (2 rookies). Mids: Titch, Oliver, Fyfe, Cogs, Hanners, Liberatore, Constable, Bewley,(3 rookies). Rucks: Grundy, Nank, (Fort). Fwds: Danger, Smith, Green, Rankine, Setterfield, Corbert, (Parker, Cavarra). So Premos: 2,4,1,2 Mid Pricers: 2,2,1,1 Rookies: 2,2,0,3. I'm counting a premo as $550,000+ and Rookies as under $250,000 and the mid pricers as in between the two.

                    • Russty_ says:

Don't mind that side JDJ..it's a good solid start.

                    • Russty_ says:

                      Merry Christmas 🙂

    • Nathan says:

I love your faith in candy-calves Harley, I hope he plays a full season at his absolute best the man is a football genius

    • JohnDJ59 says:

Naismith as R2 is interesting, could make some cash and free up cash for the other lines at the same time, worth thinking about.

    • Russty_ says:

Like you said mate, early days, over 3 months until kickoff…I picked a team with the picker and it looks very average…lol, many changes to come.

    • JAMES SICILY says:

Obviously just plays for leagues. Pointless.

Is that you SC-SICILY66?…How coincidental you would post right after Wow with a derogatory comment towards a long time regular poster. Very familiar.
Can't keep a good VPN down I guess ay or did you you change providers so you could get back in here and skirt your ban?…may as well post under your old name if your VPN is that good, then you could start providing solid supercoach advice again, like how to run out of trades with 6 rounds to go.

        • JAMES SICILY says:

What is this VPN you speak of? You are one paranoid parrot rusty dog! Keep it SC related aye. Thanks cobba

  56. neil demons delight says:

I like your bookends Gat .For what s worth I would have Laird for LLoyd. You need Grundy no doubt.which means one less mid ANY of Kelly cripps or Fyfe Can't have them all.

    • gator59 says:

A lot of tinkering to do yet neil

    • Nathan says:

      Laird ave l/y 108, high score 137round 1, Low score 76, only 7 times below 100 (3 in last 6 rounds)
      Lloyd ave l/y 112, high score 173round 9, Low score 71, only 8 times below 100 (but 6 were in the 1st 7rounds)

  57. ToughBretts says:

First crack at the new year – exciting.
Harris averaged 107 through the guts of last season til he had his eggs scrambled, think he gets back to that standard. Still only just turned 22 years old.
Happy to explain any selection questions about my team or my real team (Brisbane)
Def: Laird, Sicily, H. Andrews, Williams, Williamson, C. Cox (Scrimshaw, Wigg)

Mid: Macrae, Cripps, Neale, Yeo, Zerrett, Stocker, Constable, Valente (Smith, West, Haydon)

    Ruc: Grundy, Mumford (Schlensog Ruc/FWD)

Fwd: Danger, Dunkley, Greene, Vardy (Ruc/FWD), Cockatoo, Setterfield (McAdam, Cavarra)

Vardy to cover the first few weeks with Mumford out – with Lycett gone he could average 75-odd at 306k and provide ruck cover if none of the cheap Rucks play for an R3 spot.

    • Nathan says:

1 too many rookie mids on field for my liking. I don't think stocker will score well just look at Paddy Dow from last year ave 56 at bye and finished with 59. Stocker isn't as good as Dow was and stocker will be conceding opportunities to the #1 pick and setterfield as well. I'd have a look at your 3,4,5 and 6's on other lines and find a way of turning Stocker into Tmitch
Harris is a great call I'm 100% with you on that. How much is he?

  58. Blaknight says:

    Here is version 1.0.

Kinda like the structure of my lines but the ruck line scares me a little. Martin has done me well over the last 2 seasons and will be a great POD. Do I drop a super premium in my DEF or FWD to get a Gawn or Grundy or look at them for a Naismith as my first upgrade?

    Jake Lloyd $608,200
    Rory Laird $587,600
    Nic Newman $394,100
    Brodie Smith $332,500
    Tom Williamson $189,500
    Jack Scrimshaw $149,800

    Sam Collins $188,900
    Noah Answerth $117,300

    Patrick Cripps $648,200
    Nat Fyfe $618,100
    Lachie Neale $607,300
    Elliot Yeo $585,500
    Zach Merrett $544,800
    Brad Crouch $418,000
    Ely Smith $117,300
    Irving Mosquito $117,300

    Charlie Constable $123,900
    Tobe Watson $102,400
    Brodie Riach $102,400

    Stefan Martin $573,700
    Sam Naismith $251,400

    Darcy Fort $117,300

    Patrick Dangerfield $660,500
    Toby McLean $514,000
    Michael Walters $476,800
    Toby Greene $354,600
    Will Setterfield $144,900
    Connor McFadyen $117,300

    Kieran Strachan $118,900
    Jordon Butts $102,400

    • ToughBretts says:

I think the no-brainer edit would be Michael Walters down to Rankine/Cockatoo to free some cash, and then get Grundy. Maybe Crouch becomes Miles if you're trying to go up from Naismith.

      • Blaknight says:

Walters screwed me last year. Honestly don't know why I picked him once more. He'll be replaced.

If Grundy didn't have a top knot he would have been 1st selected. I really think that Naismith can make some cash. Also considering Mumford and playing the Ruck / Fwd swing till round 3.

        So many options this year…

    • Blaknight says:

Thinking of swapping Walters for Lobb and Naismith for Mumford then trade Mumford when he hits $500k to a Gawn / Grundy when they drop to $500k. Thinking this will happen around the byes. Lobb will be my ruck cover for round 1 & 2 whilst Mumford is in his ban. Will change R3 to the WCE Ruck/Fwd took.

I really think Martin will avg 110 to 120

      • Nathan says:

Last year Max started at 503k at the bye he was 611k
Last year Grundy started at 534k at the bye he was 631k
You probably need to start one of them.
Last year steph averaged 20 less than Max and 25 less than Grundy that would add up to 300 points at the bye

        • Blaknight says:

Thanks for the input. Your comments are valued. Do you think that both can back up 2018.

          • Ralph says:

I think the general consensus is that Grundy will back up being the sole ruck but a lot of people are concerned about Gawn due to the arrival of Preuss at the Dees. You could look at Walters to Daniher and Brodie Smith to Miles/Ellis from GC (I forgot which one has mid/def DPP) and that might get you enough to go Naismith to Grundy?

          • Nathan says:

I have concerns about Max because a few teams offered Pruess an opportunity at senior level so Melbourne must have done the same. Even if he plays the Yanky Cox role that will still take 10+ points off Max who plays a very different game to Grundy

  59. Northernsoul74 says:

Why do people think Scrimshaw is a lock for the Hawks? Couldn’t break into a GC team, didn’t do much in their reserves either.

    • ToughBretts says:

High draft pick, good skills, and has had 30+ disposal games in reserves as a defender.
Battled a concussion and fractured cheekbone last year in the middle part of the year so who's to say where he stood within the club.

      • Nathan says:

Who do you see replacing at Hawthorn? Don't say Burton

        • ToughBretts says:

Hard to say, I would assume that there aren't many "locks" in the back-six for Hawthorn. I'd rather play a young Scrimshaw with a high ceiling over Duryea, but it's more likely that it will be a re-shuffle position-wise than someone getting dropped. Schoenmakers and Mirra both wouldn't be in my side ahead of someone with his draft pedigree and potential.

          • BrownlowBoy says:

Duryea isn't at the Hawks anymore.

Birch still has to come back into that backline as well.

  60. Nathan says:

Although I'm envious of you blokes with the early team picker (this is my first year in 4 without it) reading the posted teams, prices and comments here is making up for it. As long as people keep posting teams I get an idea of my own lineup, sadly for you blokes even without the team picker my squad is better than most already posted 🙂

  61. Rick Grimes says:

Already guilty of breaking my rules.

I must not pick mid pricers. Repeat 20 times.

    • Keenbutcluelesd says:

Too difficult this time of the year. On the AFL website they have their guess of each team’s starting 22. When you look at it, it’s hard not to conclude that it’s going to be ridiculously hard to get 15 rookies that will play. It’s been the same each year! So I do start to look at the midpricers now. You might get of a few as rookies emerge, but there is a few that you get so wedded too, they never leave your side. I am sort of Glad I don’t have a picker!

  62. Phil says:

3 most underpriced players all play for the same team and in 3 different positions. Anyone know if the cheap people can pick a team somehow?

    P.S the team is GWS

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Most underpriced will be the good rookies, not injury prone midpricers.

  63. BrownlowBoy says:

So many mid pricers that are tempting, but the question is – how many is too many?

Libba, Crouch, Greene, Newman to name a few.

Also my personal view is it would be foolish to not start Grundy, especially with these new rules.

    • JohnDJ59 says:

Only looking at Williams, Francis and Green as far as mid priced players go this year, the rest will be guns and rookies.

      • skindog says:

Some are tempting, but i rarely go mid prices, could be a change in store

  64. Derek says:

A Hall? Has anyone even thought of him for $389k?

    • Skindog says:

Yoo injury prone for mine, and woudl need to score well to make tou enough coin, always a burn, but thats just me mate??

    • Randomcliche2 says:

Yep, could be a very good pick, did seem to be one of the few who could bad some points back in the Garry dayz.

  65. skindog says:

Those words are Too and Would, my bad lol

  66. skindog says:

oh f#@k me, one more, You,,,, haha

Hi Guys, Gals and all those in between, I've started a Big Bash League called Basherama Jocklads 804295…..for anyone who wants to partake. Missed out on Gator's League but got into Brownlow Boy's one, hope anyone who's interested will jump onboard, there's only 13 places total so may the quickest ones in, win, cheers guys hope it'll be a lot of fun, I have no idea what I'm doing cause it's my first attempt but am trying to research a bit to find out what it's all about.
Good luck to all and hopefully we can fill the league with JR regulars 🙂

    • NEIL demons delight says:

Hi Russty Trust you to name the league after your club.I am .In mate .The first year is tough.I did ok middle ranking but didn't know about the captain and double rounds until too late. Do your home work now. I have all my potential trades for the whole year done already. You have to look way down the track when trading not just next week .Also the captain should always be someone who plays twice not always your best players. Keep an eye open at the start for rookies that will make money and play Edwards is perfect e.g. plays twice early and will bat high. There's a lot to it mate but lots of fun Impinges on the footy late and you find yourself runnlng two games No renos mate hope you finished good luck with it Russty NDD

      • Russty_ says:

Cheers Fellas!…Herald Sun has some news info on the BBL players , not sure if you need gold or not but there is info there about players and some of the up and coming rookies, good luck everyone.
Thanks for that Neil, sounds complicated mate..got a lot of the renos done mate, still lots of painting to do though 🙂
I'm not really expecting much of a result this year mate but thanks for the advice bud.

      • Russty_ says:

Hey Neil, would you say batsmen or bowlers score points in any given game?…would it be better to go with more spinners than pacemen and do you need a high priced wicket keeper?…cheers mate

        • neil demonsdelight says:

put it this way Russty I would have a bowler over a batsman as captain—- TYE over LYNNE — Spinners have really came on last few years but no I have more pacemen Carey is not only a top keeper but in the best 3 bats so try to get him in. also he has the double early good luck buddy NDD

          • Russty_ says:

Thanks Neil, I meant to say do they score more points but i think you know what I meant…I have Carey so happy with that! 🙂
Allrounders would be the go wouldn't they?….cause a Bowler only gets a few overs but if they don't take wickets it'd be handy if they can get a few runs. 25 points per wicket is nice though.

    • hedski says:

Gday Russty, hope ya had a good off season bud. I've jumped in your league, haven't had time to do any research so will be flying blind, hopefully I can work out a few rookies before it starts up!

    • JEL says:

I'm onboard, this is a whole new ball game.

Byes, double headers, rookies, who are the potential cash cows, the list of new things to mull over is endless!!

    • gator59 says:

Sorry you missed out on my league rusty.. I have jumped into yours .. cheers mate

    • Nuggety says:

      Im in cheers mate!

    • skindog says:

Jumped on mate if thats alright?

    • Russty_ says:

Got 2 places left in the League, if no one enters I might invite Warney and Isa Guha, does anyone know when the head to head starts?

    • Russty_ says:

haha you're funny, you sound bitter and twisted SC- SICILY66…is that cause you didn't get an invite?
What do you love doing…posting hateful comments on here?…everyone knows who you are.

  68. NEIL demons delight says:

For those like me without GOLD and no picker fear not–go to Supercoach Talk and in the coaches box to the right go to HUTTABITO their version of OLD OCKER and download Absolutely brilliant stuff Maybe someone with better skills can put the link up cheers NDD

  69. dontblushbaby says:

Hawks fans , any news on G.Birchall ,has he been in full training ?

    • Russty_ says:

Hi DBB, saw this on the AFL Website if this helps…cheers.

Four-time premiership Hawk Grant Birchall hasn’t been able to take a trick over the past two seasons. But the 30-year-old is on track for a Round 1 berth, after undergoing a modified program to right his troublesome right knee.

  70. hedski says:

Gday fellas, i hope everyone had a good off season. Finally had a chance to listen to the pod and have a crack at the team builder, looks like it will be tough coming up with a well balanced starting squad.
    Anyway here's a quick V.1.

    Llyod, Sicily, Williams (Wigg)
    Smith, Collins, Hore (Watson)

    Titch, Macrae, Cripps (Constable)
    Oliver, B.Crouch, Setterfield (Atkins)
    Bewley, Hind (Brayshaw-W.C.)

    Grundy, Longer (Fort)

    Danger, Smith, Dunkley (Corbett)
    Greene, Rankine, McAdam (Ling)

Have looked at Mummy/Naismith as R2 but with Hickey gone Longer should ruck solo and make some cash to upgrade.
Smith, Crouch and Greene are iffy but that's what this time of year is for.
    Cheers lads.

    • Rick Grimes says:

Billy Longer is tempting. Solo ruck, should be good for 90 ave. Plenty of cash to be made there.

      • hedski says:

$10k more than Naismith who has Sinclair to compete with and coming back from a knee.

        • Rick Grimes says:

Yea I looked at Naismith. Not sure he even starts.

          • hedski says:

Agreed, would be nice to bang Max in and set and forget, would take a lot of trimming in other areas.

    • neil demonsdelight says:

big maxy said his hardest opponents were Grundy and Longer. Not for me though

    • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi hedski, the team builder has been handy for me. I have put together three teams, with the rucks as the center piece. 1st one has Grundy and Gawn and is pure guns and rookies, the 2nd one has Gawn and Martin which is mainly guns and rookies, but the rookies are higher priced ones and the 3rd one has Martin and Nank and is my mid price players leaning team. As the season gets closer I will use these three teams as my benchmark.

      • hedski says:

Sounds like a good plan John, I haven't had much time to play around yet but will do something similar over the next few weeks.

        • JohnDJ59 says:

Hi hedski, I've now added a Grundy and Nank team since I can't see the pure guns and rookies team of Grundy and Gawn getting a start, unless all the rookies I like get a call up in round one.So at least this way I can still have a realistic option with Grundy in the side.

    • Russty_ says:

Giday Hed, nice first squad there mate, I did mine too, not posting it yet cause it's changing everyday haha, but I went a bit cheaper in the backline, heavier in the mids and am thinking of the big Kreuz to go alongside Grundy, like your rookie selections.

      • Ralph says:

I’m not sold on Kreuz. Is 30 and averages only 15 games a season and with his injury history it is a bit concerning but if he shoots out of the blocks he should make enough cash for you to trade up to the best ruckman alongside Grundy. Big risk but big reward if it manages to come off.

        • Russty_ says:

Hi Ralph, yeah I hear ya he is a risk but read he's travelling pretty well at training and is injury free, that'd be the plan for sure to upgrade him to the top man if possible, if he stays fit he could get me there, not sure about Longer or Mummy though..could get stuck with longer with low scores. Mummy could be ok but he'd have to be covered for the first 2 rounds.

      • Randomcliche2 says:

Kreuzer in my team as well. Looks like there are 6 viable ruck setups with Grundy in R1: Gawn, Goldy, Nank, Kreuzer, Mumford and Longer. Lots of different price points. (I don't think martin is viable as cant' R14 switch to Gawn skipping the bye).

      • hedski says:

Cheers Russty, Kreuzer still giving me nightmares.

  71. dontblushbaby says:

    A.Miles @ 342k or Hanners @ 326k ? don't think I could go both,maybe 1 maybe neither ? Mid Pricer v Fallen Prem

    • BrownlowBoy says:

      Libba at around that price

    • Russty_ says:

Hey DBB, Hanners has been travelling really well pre-season and seems to be injury free, I might have to suck it up this year and have a couple of saints in my side again lol, Libba's tempting too, but remember he only lasted less than a game his last comeback.

      • BrownlowBoy says:

        Personally I'm not touching Hanners.

Bloke has fallen off a cliff and looks cooked.

Hope I'm wrong because he's been a star but I don't know if he will get back to what he once was.

        • neil demonsdelight says:

remember B B he is in an ordinary – a very ordinary team to say the least probably crap## would be closer and he was a very good player in a premiership team not a rubbish team poorly coached full of spuds .He will be that much classier than his teammates . that he warrants thought NDD

          • gator59 says:

A bit rough calling your team crap neil

            • neil demonsdelight says:

They seem to be patching things up Gat.Kent believe me is ordinary. and though Hannabery was a good player at Sydney 5yrs is a lot They needed a Kelly .Why they didn't throw the sink at Pruess I will never know. Apparently he is killing GAWN at present.-.Mccartin Membrey bruce steele are all good ordinary players. 3years wooden spoons and 3 top selections would help and another coach. The good news is they now have relevant s c players like Hannabery Coffeild and Parker . Hope they do something for yourself and Russty but I would renew your BEECH FOREST membership —- are they still called they Demons great name cheers gat NDD

    • Sc_Wow says:

Hanners at the top of the list for mid pricers for me. If his body can back to being healthy he's in.

Hi Derek, I heard he's back training on a modified programme, and they're going to be very "safe" with him, not really sure if he'll re-appear in the starting 22 or not. He has a heart issue, not sure if he had surgery or not…I'd probably avoid.

  74. skindog says:

Hey boys, having a play as we all are, team changers every hour, not keen on the Longer call, so might go back to set and forget RUC, thoughts???

MID : Mitch Macrae Oliver Beams Zerret Mozzie Valente,,, Bewely Hind Foley

    What am I missing?

Why is no one talking about dunk as a golden cheapie in bbl this season?

    Is he injured?

    • TOPHAWK1 says:

Hi Trigga. Dunk is a very relevant in BBL 18-19. Why dont you join the State of Origin 2 league. (426117). There are two spots left. These guys are AFL Supercoach wizards and play BBL SC for down time. Cheers mate. TH

    • neil demonsdelight says:

With Maddison out he bats high up so he is very relevant trig . Been around a while but when he hits it look out.Good cash cow and will need him last 4 rounds

      • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

Having a look at all the teams he is not in any.

Not that long ago he was the most expensive.

        Thought he must be injured.

If not gotta pull the on trigga on him.
        Welcome Ben.
Good cover for Carey rd 3.

        • BrownlowBoy says:

Cheapies like Philippe allow for cash to be spent elsewhere. Dunk was terrible last year, probably a contributing reason as to why he's not being selected.

          • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

            Fair enough BB

IM willing to put it down as a blip and fork out the extra $20k. 😃

Rain and storms predicted for heat /canes game. Wouldn't go too deep there. Read an article on Dunk and they tip him to be the biggest turd.as B B said because of last year.Philippe is my pick ahead of Inglis who bats high

  77. TOPHAWK1 says:

Anyone interested in joining a tough BBL Supercoach league? This league is suited for advanced players. There are two spots up for grabs. The league code is: 426117. (State of Origin 2) Novices need not apply.

Great stuff Trigga! Welcome to BBL State of Origin 2 league. Like you, AFL Supercoach is my passion but I like the BBL SC concept whilst waiting for the season proper to commence. There are some great AFL SC players in this league as well! Should be fun. Cheers mate.

        • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

          Great minds mate.

You know me hawk I'll give it a red hot go.

Just did a draw analysis doesnt hurt to look ahead esp in BBL.

Heat are going to traded more than a penny stock on wall st.

          Lets rock ….

          • neil demonsdelight says:

The previous winners all agree the trick is to have an average of 4 DGP's. so going deep with scorchers /heat could be a poor decision. I have drawn up a trade plan but by round 6 it starts to get compromised. Like A F L s c LUCK plays a huge role but research is paramount to success .Like GAWN I can't fit Short in. anyone in the same boat

    • neil demonsdelight says:

yeah count me too good to compete with you again Toppa

      • TOPHAWK1 says:

Thanks Neil! I am no cricket genius, but this BBL league should be fun. Packed with serious AFL SC coaches. Time to have some fun. Cheers mate!

    Lynnsane batting.

  82. WTFoxtrot_58 says:

Guessing everyone has Lynn as C.

    • WTFoxtrot_58 says:

C Neser b Siddle next pill.

    • Russty_ says:

I'm going with Agar…kinda wishing I went with Carey now, huge score tonight.

    • BrownlowBoy says:

Willey. Should bat high in the order and bowl

      • neil demonsdelight says:

I had him as C B B but went to TYE I just think Wiiley wont bowl much TYE BERENDORF NCN AGAR MARSH and one more alludes me but all will bowl before Willey. Then he bats at 5 behind 4 top players Could regret it but that's the game mate cheers

        • BrownlowBoy says:

Personally think Willey bowls before Marsh does. He's an import, foolish to bat him that low down the order and not bowl at all. Reckon he could get the gig opening.

          • gator59 says:

Willey should open the batting and bowling…. He's done it in previous years

    • neil demonsdelight says:

guess you guys are right about WIILEY I am now second guessing my choice as captain For sure one of TYE or WILLEY

  83. Godd_Toldstein says:

What's happening to this great page. All this talk about cricket, are you kidding me.

    • skindog says:

goneWas thinking same thing but no footy so thought id give the bbl a go, and ill get smacked,,

    • neil demonsdelight says:

Speak for yourself FLOG BBL is a great fix and much more involved than AFL If you succeed at supercoach BBL then AFL is easy. Gonna replace you with Spitta this year Only room for one FLOG in Demons Delights NDD

    • Russty_ says:

Useless at SC…speak for yourself 66. What round did you run out of trades last season 13 or 14? LOL

    • Russty_ says:

You don't really need to worry about it, why don't you start a conversation about Footy then? and fill us in with all your wisdom… Do you usually come newly into a site and start bagging what people are already doing?..just wondering…if you have something more substantial to offer to the general public, then please do.

      • Godd_Toldstein says:

No need to get aggressive mate! As I new member I was loving reading up on all the footy but it seems like there is hardly any of that going on now so I wanted to speak my mind! Good luck with your cricket Russty_
Maybe there could be a thread for BBL

        • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

          Done 😁

        • NEIL demons delight says:

The way it is Toddy The conversation will soon die if no one is interested. I love NRL better than any and I am sure plenty are into soccer . No one likes the real footy in Victoria so its pointless me discussing the merets of Brad Arthur but cricket is different most are into it and BBL supercoach though many are new and use it as a fix till AFL starts Join in the chorus sport

        • Russty_ says:

Wasn't being aggressive GT, just wondering what agenda you had, most people who come to a new site have a relative humility, not you though..I mean, you called yourself God, seems a bit self absorbed….wondered if you'd been here before?…thankfully to Trigga now there is a BBL thread so Footy and cricket don't have to mix, we're only tuning ourselves up for the Footy SC season which is my number 1 favourite thing.
Maybe you should tread a little more carefully when you're stepping into new ground, you never know who's toes you might step on.

          • Godd_Toldstein says:

It's the internet fella, no one's ground! Not really enjoying the passive aggressive vibe you're sending out! If you switch the t and g in my name it might all make sense. Enjoy your holidays Russty_

            • Russty_ says:

Mate, if you choose to label me as aggressive or passive agressive, that's your perception as an amateur psychologist, not necessarily how it is, I'm neither of those things and really, for you to judge what kind of mood someone is in by typed text, that's just ridiculous.
Maybe don't go labeling or accusing people of something that's not true, because that's very aggressive.
If you're receiving "vibes" in your mind, why don't you psycho-analyze yourself.
              Enjoy your Holidays Godd

Do you ever shut the fuk up? Put a sock in it MF. Too much sand in your vagina. Cheers.

                • Russty_ says:

No, I never shut up MF, so suck it up or FK off. You just made me want to make more comments…thanks for that.. enjoy!

I forgot that the BBL was starting tonight and i left a placeholder cheapie (who's not gonna get a game) on the field who is now locked into my side. RIP my rd 1 score

    • skindog says:

shit mate, bad luck, cant be any worse than me,,
first time and dont follow it much anymore, but gonna get back into it,,

    • Russty_ says:

Hey AB, you'll still get the lowest score of your 2 bench players, hopefully they both do ok for ya.

  85. BrownlowBoy says:

Willey listed to come in at 7…

Surprised me that's for sure. He opens in other competitions around the world.

Guess Tye seems the logical C selection now!

  86. Russty_ says:

Hey Trigga, my league's showing your BBL team as incomplete, just thought I'd let you know.

    • TRIGGA_HAPPY says:

      Thanks rust.

I had green on the bench but didnt get a gig tonight.

So traded him just not sure who takes his spot?

      • Russty_ says:

Don't ask me mate I have no idea who most of these blokes are lol. I'd say just put anyone in there so your team's complete, trades are still unlimited.

        • Russty_ says:

Because it's fun, and is tuning us up for the still far away regular Supercoach season…Sir, why are you wasting your precious time asking me why I'm wasting my precious time….sir?

  87. BrownlowBoy says:

Tye is rubbish now. It seems as if he's been found out!

Bowled crap when playing for Australia and didn't snag a wicket last night.
