PODCAST: Preseason is officially ON

We’re BACK, baby!
We’re dusting off the old time trials, Lekdog’s training with the midfield and Barron is setting personal bests on the 2km time trial. Damo has added some bulk to his brain, Kev has added contested marking to his game and Patch is trying to suppress a video of him with some white powder somewhere in Vegas.
But the important thing is we are back. Four of us sit around and have a chinwag about what we make of positional changes for the 2019 season, give our early thoughts on the ruckline and also fire a few cheap shots at each other – because what else are friends for.
The team picker for Supercoach gold kicks off next week, so jump in early and give us your thoughts on season 2019!
And community – tell us what you want to see from us in season 2019. Anything more, anything less, any changes – give it to us and we'll see what we can do.
This was super fun to record. Thanks for having me on again!
I love it when you talk statistical to us ex oh ex oh
Jock, Crouching and Higgo appearances.
On occasions
Will pose the question mate, but I reckon they're enjoying retirement. Crouching still hasn't been since since the Richmond grand final win
I'd like to see some in-depth analysis of the left field, or almost completely unthought of, options. Players who have potential but no-one knows exists
It's a nice idea Ty, but when you make those calls, and they turn out wrong, one looks like a fool, a genius if they come off, but how many of even the celebrated rookie picks end up mediocre for that year, seems all but one or two each season.
Tis hard to predict when a player with potential will break out of their rut and be exceptional, I think it has a lot to do with what's happening in their life…and their mental attitude.
Thoughts on Yeo despite losing DPP?
Still tempting. Averaged 124 over last 6 weeks. Could get overlooked.
Hard to say without seeing the composition of the midfield and prices. Could be a very good POD based on his last month or so
he did not average 124 over his last 6, he averaged 113. He did average 111 for the season if you take away the game he scored 27 where he manned Danger and 115 in his last 11 post bye. I don't see Gaff impacting his scoring as Gaff plays the majority of his time on the wing and it didn't when they played together this year. If anything Gaff would help him by getting the tagger sent to him instead of Yeo.
I will 100% be picking Yeo as a pod next season, I think he has a 115 average in him if he can get his disposal numbers up and his clangers down.
Yeo is a gun but wondering where he plays is more important than wondering how he plays. I don't think they can keep him out of the midfield so his numbers should be good. The trade off is price versus output. His starting price might be a bit high.
Welcome back guys, I needed my hit of SuperCoach medicine…
It's good to be back mate!
Nice to have you back guys, a guest appearance from the old guy or Higgo would be great if they have the time before the season starts.
Cheers mate! I think they're enjoying retirement but will pose the question to them. Welcomoe back to you, who are you looking at early days?
This preaseason I'd like to see a greater focus on the rookies and players that switched teams including discussions as to why they'll get a game round 1 and what impact they'll have on current team. eg will other players in that team score higher or lower due to the new inclusions. And less discussions about whether we should start TMitch, Doch, Cripps, Oliver etal.
Also, Back in the days before all of the current crew there was a preseason spreadsheet from Higgo that analysed each players previous performance in 3 blocks 1.early-season, 2. mid-season, 3. end.
That datasheet showed consistent patterns across multiple seasons for certain players regardless of who the oponents were and Identified the Premos you should get early and those to avoid in your starting lineup. Resurrect that please
I'd also like to see less trolling and greater attention paid to attribution responsibilities when you publish info from other websites verbatim except for arrangement and a few wisecracks
Cheers Anonymity!
That spreadsheet was an absolutely mammoth undertaking done by Old Ocker each year. I'm not going to promise we can make another one of those because of simply how much work goes into it – I know I'll struggle time-wise to make a dent in it.
However, discussion over players who have moved is absolutely something we can do and look at doing more of.
No Patch it was a couple of years before Old Ocker showed up
Fyffe is life
Surely Danger is the most picked player in 2019?
I reckon the Doc will take that honour.
Anyone got s coin?
Be that close.
It's gotta be Billings doesn't it?…this will be his breakout year…lol
Cant believe i didnt listen to gator and started that spud.
Good thing i fixed that mistake quick smart and he copped it in the neck ⚰
Hey Trig, yeah I did the same mate, started him and culled him quick smart, should've listened to Gator! 🙂
Yep dont think any saints will make the cut on field next year.
Hind with speed to burn (which is what the saints r crying out for) will earn a spot on the pine.
With danger fwd and good options back reckon will go one less premo in the mids. 😁
Yeah the Saints traded sensibly this time and acquired several workmanlike, mature aged players who may never get a game or if they do, won't affect games very much, thus ensuring the team's future mediocrity..bye bye Richo after next year, if not during the year.
Bit surprised no one picked up Freeman with a late rookie pick?
hammies would put clubs off…Off topic but Kwaja's catch could well be the best ever and got Kohli out
Gresham has the potential to break out but he's not for me..
Sneaky draft option.
Pearler.
Couldn't have scripted it any better 😏
Think I read somewhere, he'll be playing VFL all year, they probs wanna see whether he'll break again or not before they write him off for good.
Make it three I didn't listen to Gator also What a spud.Hard to find a saint selection for the Demon Delights.
Lock of the year 😉
2018 podcast started slowly with can laughter etc but really ramped up A credit to you guys Jock and Higgo are irreplaceable no matter what so make it yours fellas. One of the biggest issues was the trolls so please no more of the twins. good luck boys NDD
Cheers NDD! We're in our pre-season as well so we're blowing out the cobwebs, but expect Lek and I to be screaming at each other in no time. More moderation and commenting is on my radar for 2019.
the twins hahaha
Damn. Looks like it's just me. But I've tried listening in both Chrome and Edge on the work computer and it was inaudible – real quiet and sounded like it was coming through a drunk electronic speech reader. All good, running through the phone.
I know the audio wasn't great considering we were recording from four different states but it certainly didn't sound inaudible to me? Did anyone else have this issue?
Hi Patch, the volume varied and the quality, sometimes it sounded like a few of you were on the phone but it wasn't inaudible for me. I listened through my laptop.
I suspect it was my work computer, because even the download did it. Worked fine from phone. Just putting it out there in case anyone had the issue.
Some intel from down the Whitten Oval is that Bailey Williams is training with the mids. I assume he’ll be a defender in SuperCoach. Dogs fans know how good he is but probably underrated outside the club. Watchlist.
Love me some early-season midfield intel mate. Will keep an eye on him
Nice to see you all back fellas, hope you've had a decent off-season.
Can't say I'll be going anywhere near Jack Ziebell but Whitfield and Danger are great inclusions. Not sure if I will be able to start Whitfield, it will come down to how much I will need to spend on rookies because I'm intent on going 6 deep in the middle with Dusty at M6 (or Zerrett) and I also plan on starting Grundy, Titch and Danger (but not Gawn).
I think Witherden will average between 95-105, he's actually averaged 87 two years in a row when you take away the injury affected score this season and he averaged 98 in his last 6 and 95 in his last 9 this year. For his first two seasons that's pretty impressive. If I need to save money I'll go for him over Whitfield even though I think Whitfield improves and averages 105. I'll do this in the hope that Witherden slides into the top 6 defenders for the year. I expect Laird, Lloyd and Sicily to drop in average and I think you "have" to start Doch and Williams.
Brad Crouch is too awkwardly priced for me, he'll be about 430k, he's probably not good enough to be a keeper and won't make you that much money and he's also injury prone and coming off an injury. Hanners is cooked in my opinion but Libba could be insanely cheap and worth a look, although I'm not entirely sure how they will price him.
Hi Pizza Thinking of going one less mid and keeping set and forget Gawn/ Grundy. If Pruess even plays he will be a backup . The word is he will trial as a forward. Maybe Hogans replacement watch JLT
Hey Neil this is definitely the decision that could come back to haunt a lot of us but I think Gawn just averaged his highest score by 9 points at age 27, is an injury risk and might be sharing ruck duties. Those things make me think I don't want him in my side at his price. It is hard to find a choice to replace him but I'm currently looking at Nankervis even though I think he will need to improve his ruck work significantly to average 110+ (which is what I'd be hoping for), his age is the right type for the job in my opinion.
I had Nank all year last year ,couldnt get Grundy in. with few regrets, but Gawn does go huge.Wouldnt be worried with injuries as he will be looked after with Pruess there, however this will impact on his scoring
Yeah Preuss is the main reason I won't pick him, along with it being his best year at his age. I feel like players dip a little when they peak as old as 27, but he's a gun and has only been this type of player the last few years and could prove me wrong. I still expect him to average 115-120 but I feel like gambling on another player making up ground on him (I still expect him to finish as the 2nd best ruck). Nank has some upside if he can win more hitouts, but I'm not sure if he's as naturally talented at that as he is at the follow up work and intercept marking. He only won 41.5% of his hitouts this year. This year I managed to trade Martin to Grundy at Round 21, so I got a small taste haha.
Cheers mate, and to you too!
Witherden a tasty one, Pizza. Is high on my radar and Brisbane defenders will be heavily discussed this season.
Doch and Williams have their spot to lose at this stage.
Also some news that Witherden is working on his speed http://www.lions.com.au/news/2018-12-03/doing-ext…
I'm with you 100% on Grundy and no Gawn today. Pruess wouldn't have gone to a club that couldn't guarantee him regular games. With the Demons midfield Max might kick 40 as Fwd ruck but we all know how accurate he is in front of goal so more likely 8goals 32 behinds either way he's more likely to drop by 50k than he is to rise by 50k.
I don't have witherden in my top 10 starting defenders because I feel that he starts slow and will drop $ before byes
Whitfield is like one of those girls with long legs and big boobs in a short tight skirt that buys you drinks and begs to come back to your bangkok hotel room. They look good superficially but they always get your cash before providing a shocking let down.
Is anyone considering J.Westhoff as a Fwd now as he Ruck/Fwd status ?
Definitely not going to start him because he's old and overpriced and will lose his scoring friendly role but I will pick a rookie forward-ruck on my ruck bench in case he or one of the other R/F's end up being good enough to be an F6/7 and good cover.
Not at this stage mate – needs midfield/ruck time for mine but we will be having a closer look when articles start coming up
does anyone know date of the day supercoach team picker comes out
Now.
I predict back-to-back for the weagles and yeo to be the biggest mistake that supercoaches make in 2019
Did the Lions recruit people to play footy or people to keep their fledgling sports medicine clinic in business?
Top Tip from my 2019 crystal ball is don't start any lions newbies.
G’day fellas, thanks fellas.
I’d like to see some of our regulars give us plenty of inside word about their own club. We all follow our own club pretty close during the off season, especially the new recruits, but know stuff all about other teams.
Info about position changes are critical. Medical reports. We can’t all watch every club. But as a community we can.
Thanks fellas
Good day Derek One player you relive each year is MILLS. This may be his year with Hannas gone Any word from your lad about him
i've started with him the last 3 years, maybe this will be his year.
my lad gave footy away, did his year 12 and off to uni
I just remember watching him at the academy, he is alot bigger than people think and his rugby background makes him hard to tackle and he is a good tackler. He might be a decent price.
thanks Derek on my watch list particularly if he gets more mid time JLT and his price
2019 supercoach pick from my club…Aaron Francis.
2019 POD pick, Jack Crisp. Tipping he'll avg 95+
Aaron Francis hey 🙂 Sell him to me. What's his role going to be why the step up?
As for my club, slim pickings this year, players who I think will step up are a bit awkwardly priced, to make them not relevant. One who always gets talked about because of injury discount doesn't have an injury discount this year and doesn't have the risk associated with it. So lets talk a Jaeger O'meara. Many might not want to talk about a previously hyped player. I don't think he'll make my team, but at 92 avg, there is good reason to think he can go higher – 105 easy, but sketchy to see if he can make that 110+ you need for a front line Mid. First half of the season he was getting back into things. In the middle he got going producing good scores. I think a concussion late in the season probably impacted him a bit. His TOG is about 80% and could go 5% higher. Titch does 90%. It might just be the season you want him – the season where no one is talking about him. 🙂
I've got a very sneaky eye on Aaron Francis, Dice. Really rate his work at the back end of last year but he's got to do a lot of work to start in my sidie
Yeah will depend on his preseason and how he goes but loving the back intercept marks, he could ton up from 12 touches. He's a junior McGovern. I'll see how he fits in my structure but probably just out for me, if in it's only to make some coin but I think he'll start too pricey.
Jack Crisp will start in my backline this year
Also Francis last 3 games avg 95, avg 15 touches
How do we think Mumford and Clark will be priced?
Mumford $350k. 35% discount to average (98 avg, 5500 magic number) #cunningham'slaw
this year they only did 20% discounts for Nic Nat & Birchall, so 98.3 x 5558 x 0.8 = 437k.
Cunningham's Law. Love it. Thanks PizzaSafety. And here's me thinking Mumford had been out for as a long as Zac Clarke but no… Clarke 2016, Mumford 2017, so perhaps 30-35% for Clarke? But yeah, not mummy.
They've released some of the prices and I was totally wrong, Mummy will be 332k. All sorts of different discounts for different players that I can't make any sense of. For example they've discounted Doch by 17.9% but Brad Crouch by over 20%. CD getting experimental.
Clarke priced at 140k…
R3 sold. No to find another position for the floating donut.
Oh, interesting. I will go a searching right now!
Mummy 320k ***
4 things.
1. Good to see you guys up and about early. Another big season coming up.
2. Troll for trolls and eliminate them early. Maybe everyone should have an account/log on?
3. Every year I/we try not to get sucked in by the excy first-year draft pick. It has been proven time and time again the mature age is the way to go. Much cheaper and these guys will leave nothing on the park now they got their shot.
Gonna go early on this one.
Get on hind. Speed to burn and will feature in saints best 22 either on a wing (new rules gonna be big for wingers) or streaming out of defence. Saints crying out for speed in back half hind has it in spades.
4. Anyone running a BBL comp this year. If so let us know the code.
Enjoy.
I agree, making everyone have an account, although annoying, will stop some of the trolling.
Couldn't agree more on point 2 Trig, there's already some flog or flogs, hell bent on filling the pages with inflammatory crap, or just plain spam.
Hi Trigga starting a BBL League called Jocks Battlers… Code is … 200998 … First in best dressed so get in.. Cheers Gator
In like Errol 😁
When is kickoff?
On the topic of rookies, you're definitely right Trig, the mature ones are always the ones to pick. That being said Stephenson and Naughton (until the injury ruined his cash generation) were good picks for over 150k this year with reliable JS, even though most high draft picks failed. You do get more JS with some of them compared to mature players and also some extra points but it comes at a cost. Barron Von Crow's article on rookies and return on investment is very insightful and shows that even with the same amount of cash generation you'll still have more return on investment with cheaper players.
I think Walsh is worth picking at this early stage, and maybe Rankine (who I won't pick if there's enough promising 117k players). I'm not that hot on Setterfield at this stage due to the injury he just suffered and his price, but we'll see how he goes in JLT. Bewley, Hind, Parker, Cavarra, Wilkie and Hore all look like promising mature aged cash cows. Very early days but it's fun to think about
19th dec is kick off Trigga
I'm in. Thanks Gator.
Think you need a lot more luck in this variant.
Yeah this BBL format is a lot harder than SC
I'm into the BBL league and am putting an early claim on the spoon
Cheers mate, your second point's one that's popped up a bit and we're definitely going to be discussing how to be better at it.
Love your point on the rookies, Bazza and Damo are all over it for now and Hind will be in my early drafts.
Looks like many will jump off ALL AUSTRALIAN NO. 1 ruckman MAXY GAWN .Please do ,big mistake fellas. You are searching for something not there. Footy is now big business and the dees are at the forefront. At best Preuss will go to some interstate games and Gawn will miss a few,but he is our undisputed no.1 ruck not a forward. You will find Wiedeman taking the relief ruck duties as he has been training for now He is also improving his ruck work .It was a brilliant move getting Pruess but like at NORF with Goldy purely a back uprelief NDD
Risks have to be taken somewhere. I'm probably gonna pass on Maxy to start.
Goldy was 27 when he averaged 129 and he followed it with a 108. Averages like Gawn's are incredibly hard to sustain especially when they spike at his age, this fact is in the data. He will be the no.2 ruck for the year in my opinion, but I don't think by a huge enough margin to justify the price. He is just one year removed from averaging 91.6
Wow. I didn't expect two shoot downs so fast. I think Preuss is the unluckiest bloke in footy outside those having to do more knee recos than they have limbs. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe his situation is about to change.
It still leaves me choosing between starting 1 or 2 of the best two ruckmen. I'm only starting one. Sorry NDD, but gunna take the younger one. I'm still planning on him making my team. I think there is value to be had in the on-field ruck line and I'm going to take it. But lets be realistic (it's not even xmas) If this view changes I'll welcome him without too many concerns.
Can't work out why Pruess chose the dees. Could easily have gone to the saints or dogs as the no.1. Having a catch up with Max at Loch shortly Whether he fills me in is another story.
Stainless?
This post is anything but.
Think you got your letters mixed up.
This is JR not COSCO.
Starting a BBL League for anyone that's interested … Jocks Battlers.. Code is 200998 so jump in if you want,, all welcome
in mate tough game bbl
It is Neil good luck mate
it does my head in with all the bye and double game weeks for some teams.
AFL.COM.AU reporting that Yeo will have a delayed start to preseason after having surgery on his toe in the offseason, he was going to be the most important POD in my team but now I'm unsure. He was delayed last year as well but I was really hoping he would be even fitter next year. He will go into full training in January. A lot of other relevant information here.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-12-08/wheres-your…
at least this year they have made it a bit easier to pick our starting team.
only need to select 28 this year.
i'm assuming everyone will have dangerfield and Doch, just leaves 28 other places to fill
Danger I agree, and if they give Doc the full discount then hells yeah. I do remember when they pulled a swifty with Gaz and didn't give him the full discount…
See they just released top 10 prices.
Grundy/Gawn combo a cool $1.4M!
Used to be you saved a bit of coin in the ruck. 🙄
$512K for Doc.
hey Trigg thinking I or 2 less mids is the way I am going though goldy or nank appeal tough call
Could you (or someone) possibly please copy and paste the list? I refuse to pay herald suns premium to access mediocre articles
Here u go AB.
1. Grundy $708,200 (most expensive)
2. Titch $700,800
3. Gawny $692,100
4. Macrae $ 698,700
5. Danger $660,500
6. Crippla $648,200
7. Clarrey $622,700
8. Fyfe is life $618,100
9. J. Kelly $617,800
10. Jakey Lloyd $608,200.
So at least 10 players over $600k with two over $700k.
Gonna have to be really selective premo picks as gonna chew up the green big time.
Ouch that is basically my ten starting Prems. almost 5.9 mil gone from the bank already. Wish that I could pawn a few of those premiership cups that I won for a few extra $ in 2019.
Cause Im feeling generous value elsewhere (discounted due to injury)
B. Crouch $418k
B. Smith $332k
J. Viney $450k
Hannas $326k
Tobias Green $355k
Fasalo $250k
Setterfield $145k
Williamson $190k (if gets going % owned will spiral upwards esp with Doc going down)
Sam Collins $189k
GHS $270k
A little taster to whet the appetite.
Cheers for all this mate, setterfield looks like great value and alarmingly so does Toby Greene. Gonna have to try hard to avoid the mid pricers this year
Viney looks like a good buy if he doesn't make high contact and automatically miss 3. I almost have to start Mr Green at that price and all the rest are great value and relatively risk free except Break Crouch.
Thanks for that young man I'll crotchet you a teapot cover
Well we've now lost one of those picks with Docherty doing his knee again (poor bastard)
Apparently Docherty May have done another acl.
jeez that's rough .Feel for the lad and club. Gawn a definite starter now NDD
Thats sad for docherty, I think the blues really needed his leadership on the park this year if they were any chance to improve.
Just hand the crows the 2020 number 1 draft pick now, what a genius trade
My first crack at a team after the prices have dropped:
Def: Whitfield, Witherden, Williams, rookies
Mid: Titch, Fyfe, J Kelly, Neale, Dusty, Zerrett, Walsh, the rest rookies
Rucks: Grundy, Nank, dpp loophole
Forwards: Danger, Heeney, Dunkley/Wingard, Setterfield, rookies.
Fun begins. A few there that will get debate this year. I'm not on the Witherden train. Which Dusty is going to play this year? The I'm looking for a contract and premiership one or 2018 Dusty? Can't argue with the rest. Neale points uptick with change, nice pick-up (not in myT). I do think that the set/forget ruck G/G ruck will cause some other lines on other teams some grief. 🙂 Rnd 14 Nank to Gawn well played.
Fair enough, Witherden isn't screaming break out like Sicily was last season but I still think he's got significant upside, with Doch out he's even more of a chance to be relevant by seasons end. I think Dusty was always a low disposal high impact player, he then got the disposals in 2016 but lost the impact, and combined the disposals and the impact in 2017. This season his disposal numbers were down again even though he was pretty impactful (he was a victim of his own success in a non-SC sense because a lot of people dismissed his season). I know he's no guarantee to do well but he still has the upside. Neale could do even better but I just think he's a very reliable player with a good bye. Nank can be traded to Gawn if the stars align 🙂
I traded Dusty out last season, for a significant loss. I didn't even feel bad about till I ran out trades, but that is a different issue (will plan better links between byes and trades this year). If he performs well I may consider him for last upgrade, but he isn't in my top8 atm. Good luck.
A lot of debate around the rucks cost, but its a set and forget position you just have to pay what it costs from the start and sacrifice money somewhere else.
Not enough good rookie rucks make enough money to upgrade to a premium later on in the year. (Grundy and Martin for me, with westhoff in the forward line in case of injury. Hoff is a points magnet as he plays loose everywhere on the park.
With players like Brad Crouch, Toby Greene, Jack Viney , Brodie Smith, even Hannerbry all well under 450k this year Im going easy on the ultra high priced premiums around the park.
Good luck. I'm trying to drink a little less mid-priced cool-aid this year.
I'm thinking the Hoff is a bit of a trap. Age 33 now and coming off his best season, role change with Lycett coming in. Might wait a few weeks and see what the best forward/ruck option is.
We were thrilled when one of our boys from the Phillip Island F.C. made his way to Carlton, even more so when elected captain. He has never forgotten his grass roots at the island and has been a great ambassador of the the island and PIFC.. Cheering for a speedy recovery DOC. sad day LEK
Gotta unlock the Doch now ,,, Poor bugger_
Geez thats rough
Sometimes life just plain sucks.
Best of luck Doc.
The poor bugger may never be SC relevant ever again… Hoping for a speedy recovery for him
Only 6 spots left in the BBL League for anyone that's interested … Jocks Battlers.. Code is 200998 so jump in if you want,, all welcome
Just jumped in Gator, have absolutely no idea what im doing but it should be a bit of fun
I don't know if any of us know what we are doing AB… Just gotta keep an eye out for the teams that play twice in the same round and try and work around them and also whose playing in future rounds if that makes any sense
You and me both mate, I'm trying to research at the moment from people who know what they're doing lol, good luck to all!
Joined mate.
Well done Crow
I'm in if you'll have me.
NFI how this is going to work with all the byes and double headers
Hey Gat..bummer I missed out mate, are you running any others?…or I could run a League if you guys would be interested?
Welcum aboard DBB
I'm in Gator 👍
Anyone know when supercoach team picker is live?? anxiety is building
Am also curious Josh
Me too.
Herald Sun is saying prices are out “this week” without giving a day. Nearly there gents.
Think it will be late January for non-subscribers
She's open…
How do you get in? I had gold last year but when I log in I can't see a team picker
Theres a link with 2019 on it
Where? I went to the Team page because that's where the link was last year but I can't find a 2019 link anywhere.
All other supercoach gold features are working fine
It's live.
its open now man. small white writing above your 2018 team says 2019 team picker
Can any Carlton fans tell us if Nic Newman will take over the Doc’s role or will that go to Williamson?
They may still roll with old man Simmo again
Agree with Gator here The Blues are in loads of trouble now .Simmo has it all to do and has proved more than capable .Newman is too hot and cold more suited to StKilda
More like the Dees Neil
thou
ght you would comment
Marchbank does pretty well when he's not broken same with Williamson. Hopefully they use Newman in the middle and push Murphy out to a wing, they need some grownups with grunt in the middle to help Cripps and the kids
Docs role will be shared between newman and williamson.
Simmo will do his thing from the other pocket.
What's with all the spam links? Is somebody paying for that as advertising?
Trying to deal with this mate!
Docherty out for the season AGAIN i hear?
I'm considering Grundy/Mumford with rk/fwd bench. did any teams sign up a mature aged ruck/fwd or a rookie ruck likely to get a game?
If a player was 123k in 2018 and only played 2 games averaging 50 what would be his likely price in 2019?
How cheap will Candy-Calf Harley be? I hear that he's doing well?
Tom Williamson played 15 games in 2017 averaging 50 and then missed last year with a back injury will he be less than 250k?
I Carlton Tragic said that Tom Bugg is in the mix for a major defensive role now is he worth a look?
$190k
Thank you. I deduce that 190k is the price for the 2 gamer? De Koning actually only aved 40 (58vDogs 21vCrows) if he keeps his ruck/fwd status he might be worth buying?
Williamson is $190k bud 🙂
Danger the muppet may be most owned but I for a FACT will be second most owned. Brown low for me this year. B&F, Premiership, Coleman to name the rest. Wot more do ya want. Way too easy for me! Don't pick me at your peril MF!
SC is open flogs
good on ya loser
its open. little white link above 2018 team
Man that is tough.
Anyone you want is over $550k
Chews up the salary quick smart.
Danger, titch, grundy $2M.
Not sure about def rooks.
Might have to go pretty deep there.
Rooks ok in mid.
Leaning towards 1 less mid.
First look. Gonna need to get creative. 🤔
It sure is gunna test the nerves on which way to go this season
Bit of a bugger hind is mid only
Was gonna use him as a def cash cow.
First draft.
4 – 4 – 1 – 4
4 premo mids only as looks like best rooks are mids.
Going with the lads I missed out on last year.
Grundy and mccrae.
Anybody else who had supercoach gold last year that can't access 2019 team picker?
Apparently I had a 12-weeks FREE trial of supercoach stats last year and not SC gold. Rupert must have been drunk to be giving away 12 weeks for free.
Have you paid for the full subscription this year?
for 2018 I think so but not sure. I can't believe that I'd get 12 weeks for free but maybe I did. Oh well looks like I'll have to wait like the rest of the plebs
I had SC Gold last year and cancelled it when the season ended…. I renewed 2 days ago and can pick a team now
Thanks gator I'll try that.
I don't even see an option for supercoach gold only supercoach stats and when I click that it tries to sign me up for a Digital Membership with weekly charges for 12-months! Screw supercoach I'll play AFL Fantasy this year instead
Is there any small white writing above the defenders of your 2018 side…. That's where it should be and click on where it says 2019 Team Picker
Thanks Gator I had that all in footy pass thing last year and the 12-weeks free was part of that. My team was so far behind and I'd burned so many trades I obviously didn't see the point in paying another $20 for 11-weeks of SC gold. Dumb move on my part the early access is worth the $20.
Oh well usually my first 300 drafts before it opens for plebs are crap anyway
What's with all this red lettered spam?…why can't it be deleted and blocked immediately?…come on guys, it's your site, you must have control over this kind of crap.
As it goes
I see red, i see red , i see red ….
and BLUE
Black and White
pies now gator
May as well,, I couldn't do any worse surely
Make your own site if you're not satisfied pal.
Don't need to make my own site PAL, this is my site…sounds like you condone the unwanted spam somehow.
If the filters don't pick it up it needs to be reported…it's different IP's everytime which makes it hard too!
It's obviously someone trying to sabotage the site and damage it before the season's even started Lek..there are ways to block people with VPN's, you should look into it mate.

VFL star Gibbons invited to train with Carlton.

no goodies fans out there?
Used to have a Goodies shirt I'd rock everywhere!
Good man lek
Knew i could count on you
If the blues give him a go he'll be bottom price and sure to play, best rookie cash cow available
Anyone interested in Hanners? $326k.
Believe it or not I'm contemplating on picking him…. And I stress only contemplating !!!!
He will definitely be in saints best 22 so it's a yes
See how he goes in the JLT Rick being at the saints he's sure to be back on the grog so could be a 100+ player again
That was my first thought. New club, few xmas/ny parties to get a skinfull. There were signs of him improving at the end of last season and he should hopefully have a full pre-season on and off the field. Reckon theres a lot of upside.
A lot of people comparing him to Libba…both have risks…I'll likely go guns n rookies in the mids
Just nick off with this crap!!!
The Rucks – set and forget with Grundy & Gawn is a lot of $ , if you were to pick 1 who would it be ? and who would be your other choice ? Is Mummy an option at 320k ?
Grundy. Mummy is an option if you have another cheap R3 that will play the first 2 rounds. Maybe look at Nank or Witts? Possibly even Big Boy
If you have Westoff as a fed you can swap him in for Mummy in the first two rounds. Just not sure how Lycett will affect his scoring.
got grundy / niasmith at R2 in draft 1
Will Lycett affect Westoff scoring. Can't remember if he scored better when he went into the ruck or when he was floating around the ground. Cheers, great to be back.
I reckon it will have a slight knock on his scoring if they still get Ryder in there sometimes…gut says he'll play forward though…someone can do the actual maths for us though I'm sure!
Not sure why the site thinks I have two accounts either!
Draft number 1
4x4x2x4 hopefully.

The Mummy!
12 rookies @ $102k won't cut the mustard.. so it's back to the drawing board I think WTF
Downgrade Lobb and Sicily, and upgrade Mumford to Gawn
Even if they're just placeholders, you should fill your bench with 117k rookies at the absolute cheapest. Very unrealistic to have so many 102k'ers
Huge outlay in defence.
Getting a bit jack of seeing Derek beating me 2482 to 2267 in the granny and being reminded of no trades and 84k sitting there .Can I get into the picker if I didn't have gold. and can I delete Derek's constant reminder NDD
I'm pretty sure you need gold to get the team picker neil… One way to silence derek is beat him in the granny
I wish I could have but was tradeless with a lot that wouldn't get a game at StKilda. on field. Worth noting tho Gator how far we slipped at the end .Derek was ok with trades
We slipped pretty badly
If you subscribe to heraldsun you'll get access to the team picker. That's what they told me but I subscribed last year for the free foxtel footy deal. If i'd just gone with supercoach gold and not subscribed I would have access to the team picker now.
This means that a subscription that includes all of the SC Gold features doesn't include the most important one.
My advice is to never subscribe to HS if you want early access to the team picker without subscribing again.
