Howdy folks, it’s we’re now up to Round 19 which means we’re gearing up for the upcoming Supercoach Finals, and like usual, we’ve been thrown a few curveballs with players such as Scott Pendlebury, Chad Wingard and Max Gawn hurt and Dayne Zorko suspended.

Hopefully you still have a few trades left in the bank because I’m sure there may be more issues thrown at us over the 4 weeks of Supercoach Finals.

We still may have a need for a few more of this rookies as downgrade options if you’re looking to make some final moves for your team, though I suspect most will have their fully locked premo side ready to roll for the last 4 weeks of the season. So let’s go look and see what’s available at the pointy end of the season.

Adelaide VS Geelong

Hugh Greenwood (103 SCPoints) was the big highlight again, producing his 2nd triple digit score in his last 4 games, while nabbing 23 disposals, 4 tackles, 8 clearances and a brilliant soccer style goal.

Andy Otten (49 SCPoints) continued to display less SC upside playing down back, again producing a score in the 40’s with just the 11 disposals and 4 marks, while Jake Kelly (64 SCPoints) had a similar result with 12 disposals and 7 marks.

Alex Keath (64 SCPoints) didn’t find much of the pill with just 6 disposals, but probably helped himself out a bit with 12 1%ers (only Talia was better with 17, Tom Lonergan was 3rd best on ground with 7). He very well could be back out with Jake Lever likely to return however. And finally for the Crows, Riley Knight (16 SCPoints) scored poorly and only had the 9 disposals (at just 33% efficiency), but spent a lot of his time trying to slow Joel Selwood down, so finding the pill himself wasn’t his priority.

For the Cats, Tom Stewart (57 SCPoints) and produced a 14 disposal, 4-mark game. His BE was 74, so he lost a bit of cash, but his ownership percentage has dropped from 30% down to 13.1% during his injury layoff.

James Parsons (25 SCPoints) produced his 2nd stinker in a row after scoring just 32 SCPoints against the Hawks in Round 17. Prior to that he had scores of 82 and 98 in Rounds 14 and 16, so hopefully he can get back to those sorts of levels. And finally, Zach Guthrie (26 SCPoints) looked a bit overmatched at times, producing just 7 disposals and 3 tackles, but he’s probably playing a bit before he’s fully ready, so it’s hard to be too harsh on him.

Essendon VS North Melbourne

North are pushing hard on the youngsters in the late part of the year, which is certainly understandable from their perspective as they currently sit 17th on the ladder. We saw Nick Larkey (1 SCPoint) have one of the weaker efforts from a debuting player, producing just 2 hitouts and 0 disposals, Jy Simpkin (26 SCPoints) struggled with just the 8 disposals while Cameron Zurhaar (37 SCPoints) had 10 disposals and 3 marks.

Daniel Nielson (43 SCPoints) had 11 disposals. Sam Durdin (75 SCPoints) played his 3rd game and easily had his best AFL performance with 18 disposals and 11 marks, while Declan Mountford (63 SCPoints) had 14 disposals and 7 marks and finally, Josh Williams (58 SCPoints) also made his AFL debut and had 16 disposals, 6 marks and a goal.

For the Bombers, James Stewart (67 SCPoints) had just 9 disposals, but kicked 2.2 to make up for it, while Andrew McGrath (50 SCPoints) had just 12 disposals, which was an equal career low for him. David Myers (71 SCPoints) has been scoring at a more reasonable rate since his return, he had 21 disposals, but produced a decent score from it.

Melbourne VS Port Adelaide

Jay Kennedy-Harris (60 SCPoints) saw his disposal tally cut in half, going from 28 in Round 17 to just 14 in Round 18, but that was probably expected with Viney and Tyson returning to the side. Mitch Hannan (69 SCPoints) bounced back from a poor score in Round 17, grabbing 17 disposals and a goal.

Sam Powell-Pepper (71 SCPoints) didn’t find as much of the ball as he can on his best days, but he added 7 tackles in there to keep his score at a decent level.

Dan Houston (73 SCPoints) was similar, having just 13 disposals, but added a career high 9 tackles to boost his score, while Matt White (42 SCPoints) had just the 10 disposals, but little else.

Joe Atley (65 SCPoints) joined SPP and Houston in having a lowish disposal count (just the 10), but had 7 tackles as well. He still hasn’t recorded more than 3 kicks in a game though, despite disposal tallies of 14, 13 and 10 in his 3 games. With Chad Wingard injured, we may also see the likes of Will Snelling or Aidyn Johnson in the side this week.

Western Bulldogs VS Gold Coast

Lewis Young (79 SCPoints) continued his strong form, putting up 16 disposals and 10 marks with 14 of his disposals being listed as effective, though 14 of them were uncontested. Still looks like a great downgrade option at this stage.

Ben Ainsworth (78 SCPoints) has had a very solid month, he hasn’t put up a ton of stats, but has kicked 8 goals, kicking 2 in each of his last two games. Jack Scrimshaw (44 SCPoints) made his AFL debut and had 11 disposals and 5 marks, while Jack Bowes (24 SCPoints) was quiet with just 8 disposals.

Jarrod Witts (99 SCPoints) continues to be just a step below the best rucks in the competition, but has a 5 round average of 98 SCPoints, which at his original starting price is a brilliant result.

Fremantle VS Hawthorn

Sean Darcy (87 SCPoints) continued with his solid ruckwork, producing 31 hitouts (averaging 34 for the year) and 11 disposals for his 2nd highest score of his career. A great backup option to have as we get near Supercoach Finals.

Ryan Nyhuis (57 SCPoints) had 11 disposals and a goal, but has been flattered a bit by his debut score where he booted 4 goals. Josh Deluca-Cardillo (40 SCPoints) is on the bubble this week, but hasn’t really shown enough to be worth a downgrade option, plus you never know what Ross Lyon will do.

Cam McCarthy (57 SCPoints) returned and booted 2 goals while Griffin Logue (65 SCPoints) continues to show some improvement as he gains AFL experience, producing a (short) career high of 15 disposals and 8 marks.

Blake Hardwick (101 SCPoints) had a fantastic game with 23 disposals and 6 marks, with 17 of his disposals being kicks. That’s eclipsed his previous high of 84 SCPoints. Conor Glass (84 SCPoints) had a great debut game with 15 disposals, 5 marks, with 14 of his disposals being effective.

Ryan Burton (77 SCPoints) had 21 disposals, but has slowed down a bit as the season has progressed, with a 3 round average of 66 SCPoints.

Sydney VS St Kilda

Lewis Melican (80 SCPoints) had a career high in Supercoach from his 15 disposals and 3 marks, with 6 1%ers as well and won the Round 18 Rising Star nomination.

Nic Newman (57 SCPoints) had another average game with 14 disposals and has slowed down a bit over the last fortnight. He’s looking like a trade out candidate at this stage now.Rowan Marshall (57 SCPoints) made his AFL debut and had 14 disposals and 4 marks with 5 hitouts.

Richmond VS GWS

Dan Butler (33 SCPoints) had just the 10 disposals and failed to kick a goal after a 16 disposal 3 goal effort against Brisbane. He’s had scores of 36 and 33 over the last 3 weeks.

Harry Perryman (36 SCPoints) had 14 disposals, 5 marks and 4 tackles, but thanks to 7 clangers his score was quite poor. Will Setterfield (63 SCPoints), the #5 pick in the last AFL Draft had 12 disposals and 6 tackles, but failed to hit the scoreboard with 2 behinds.

Collingwood VS West Coast

Will Hoskin-Elliot (119 SCPoints) had a great game with 24 disposals, 4 tackles and a goal. That’s his highest score since Round 6 and he now has a 3 round average of 94 SCPoints.

Josh Thomas (55 SCPoints) had just the 12 disposals, which was a season low for him. Nathan Vardy (37 SCPoints) has slowed right down as the season winds down, he’s now on a 3 round average of 49 SCPoints and has just 4 disposals in each of his last two games. Tom Cole (43 SCPoints) had his first double digit disposal game, but still hasn’t shown a lot of Supercoach upside at this time.

Brisbane VS Carlton

The Lions had some great performances from their youngsters here with Alex Witherdan (86 SCPoints) producing a great 22 disposal, 7 mark, 1 goal game. He hasn’t had less than 20 disposals in his 5 games and looks like a great backup option to keep for Supercoach Finals.

Jarrod Berry (78 SCPoints) kept his strong form going with 21 disposals and 7 marks and now has a 3 round average of 76 SCPoints, while Cedric Cox (95 SCPoints) produced a goal of the year nominee along with his 18 disposals, 4 marks and 5 tackles. He’s still $176K, so could make a decent downgrade option if you’re trading Newman out.

Hugh McCluggage (95 SCPoints) had his very first score above 80 SCPoints with his 17 disposals and 4 marks and Jake Barrett returned to the side and had 16 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles and a goal.

Harry McKay (72 SCPoints), the #10 pick from the 2015 AFL Draft made his AFL debut and booted 1.2 with 11 disposals and 6 marks. A nice start for him and I’d guess he’s a decent chance to start in the side for a few more weeks at a minimum, though as a KPF his scoring potential will be hit and miss.

Sam Petrevski-Seton (71 SCPoints) had 14 disposals and kicked 2 goals, while Zac Fisher (21 SCPoints), Tom Williamson (41 SCPoints) and Harrison Macreadie (32 SCPoints) didn’t really trouble the Lions all that much.

Excellent work as usual BVC, Can't believe people trading out Greenwood with B.Crouch out ,an average of 87 and still a gettable BE of 60 unless your bringing in Macrae or maybe Heeney

    BarronVonCrow · 26/07/2017 at 12:35

Yep, Greenwood is in the side unless something bad happens. Great cover for finals.

Stuck · 25/07/2017 at 20:47

Any trade advice would be very much appreciated. $241.1k and 5 trades left

Doch, Laird, Hibberd (Mel), Adams, Lloyd, Rance (Ryan, Guthrie)
Danger, Titch, Dusty, JPK, Oliver, Bont, Jelwood, McCluggage (Witherden, Brodie, Atley)
Witts, Gawn (Cameron)
Ryder, Macrae, Franklin, Heeney, Wallis, Greenwood (Parsons, Eddy)

I'm thinking
McCluggage to Merrett and Parsons to L.Young this week and Greenwood to Yeo next week
Or should I save my trades and just go
McCluggage to Ross

TIA for any advice

    Tyruddanaut · 25/07/2017 at 21:17

    Trade out McGluggage and Parsons/Witherden

      Stuck · 25/07/2017 at 21:57

Thanks. I just hope after next week I can last with only 2 trades left.

Maestro · 25/07/2017 at 22:38

Hold Witherden

I Steele Your Girl · 26/07/2017 at 10:31

What happened to Gawn?

    BarronVonCrow · 26/07/2017 at 12:34

Ankle injury. Looks probable, but hasn't trained this week yet.

TRIGGA_HAPPY · 26/07/2017 at 11:26

Gr8 work BVC though with most teams finished don't think too many of the above will be making their way teams this late in the season
More likely to see a few boys with DPP not named above get a gig.
Good stuff as usual.

    BarronVonCrow · 26/07/2017 at 12:35

No, I don't think they will be. We'll be looking to changing things up next week maybe.

The Ranger · 26/07/2017 at 12:33

Love ya work Barron, thanks.

    BarronVonCrow · 26/07/2017 at 12:35

    Cheers Ranger!

JohndJames · 26/07/2017 at 17:57

Top work Barron as usual,I'd love to bring in Lewis Young for Parsons, yes I still have him sitting on the bench, but with only 4 trades left and having to trade out Pendles and Sandy, yes I still have him as well,it would be a luxury trade that I can't afford.
