Supercoach Rd 15 : Rookie Scout Report
The bye weeks were supposed to be the end of our worries, but Supercoach obviously had other ideas.
Howdy folks, Iβm Barron Von Crow and welcome to this weeks Supercoach Scout Report. Weβve copped some late outs from the likes of Ablett and Fyfe, poor scores and injuries to players like Beams and J.Selwood and even some injuries to rookie selections like Tom Stewart and Tim Taranto. Itβs a new week though, so weβll go and look to see what we have in store ahead for us and what moves we can potentially make to steer the ship right.
Adelaide VS Hawthorn
Hugh Greenwood
MID/FWD | SC Price: $296,300
Round 14 Stats: 21 disposals, 6 marks, 9 tackles, 2 goals, 127 SCPoints, 122 CKPoints
Jake Kelly
DEF | SC Price: $304,800
Round 14 Stats: 20 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 69 SCPoints, 73 CKPoints
Jonathon Beech
FWD | SC Price: $117,300
Round 14 Stats: 12 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 49 SCPoints, 48 CKPoints
Andy Otten
DEF | SC Price: $341,900
Round 14 Stats: 6 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 1 goal, 47 SCPoints, 33 CKPoints
Ryan Burton
DEF/FWD | SC Price: $399,700
Round 14 Stats: 21 disposals, 5 marks, 2 goals, 91 SCPoints, 86 CKPoints
Blake Hardwick
FWD | SC Price: $282,200
Round 14 Stats: 19 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 84 SCPoints, 81 CKPoints
Ryan Schoenmakers
FWD | SC Price: $155,100
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, 76 SCPoints, 55 CKPoints
Hugh Greenwood was massive here, producing a massive score from just 68% ToG. There are rumblings about Scott Thompson making a return for the Crows, which may cut into his potential midfield time and see him play forward more, which would be a big blow to his potential scoring if it occurs.
Andy Otten was nigh invisible against the Hawks, with Gov probable this week it could be the end of Otten in the AFL side for the moment, while also having a BE of 92.
The Hawks would be pleased with their trio of Ryan Burton, Blake Hardwick and Ryan Schoenmakers all performing. Burton has a BE of 81, which is his current 3 round average too, so may be time to think about upgrading him if you have him.
Β
Sydney VS Essendon
Lewis Melican
DEF | SC Price: $251,600
Round 14 Stats: 15 disposals, 3 marks, 60 SCPoints, 42 CKPoints
Nic Newman
DEF | SC Price: $442,700
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 2 goals, 90 SCPoints, 78 CKPoints
Oliver Florent
MID/FWD | SC Price: $213,500
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 1 goal, 63 SCPoints, 52 CKPoints
Will Hayward
FWD | SC Price: $229,900
Round 14 Stats: 8 disposals, 4 marks, 1 goal, 43 SCPoints, 45 CKPoints
Andrew McGrath
DEF/MID | SC Price: $344,000
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 2 marks, 45 SCPoints, 39 CKPoints
James Stewart
FWD | SC Price: $265,400
Round 14 Stats: 9 disposals, 3 marks, 2 goas, 51 SCPoints, 43 CKPoints
Nic Newman didnβt find a lot of the ball last week, but still managed to make an impact with some goals to put up another quality score. His BE is just 66, so Iβd continue to roll with him for now.
Andrew McGrath has seen his 3 round average fall to just 53 SCPoints while having a BE of 96. He was still owned by 22.7% of teams as of last week, so I would expect that number to be falling down rapidly in the coming weeks.
Collingwood VS Port Adelaide
Will Hoskin-Elliot
FWD | SC Price: $384,600
Round 14 Stats: 23 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 91 SCPoints, 78 CKPoints
Tom Broomhead
FWD| SC Price: $305,800
Round 14 Stats: 14 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle, 51 SCPoints, 50 CKPoints
Callum Brown
MID/FWD | SC Price: $117,300
Round 14 Stats: 9 disposals, 1 mark, 1 goal, 43 SCPoints, 29 CKPoints
Matthew White
MID/FWD | SC Price: $198,400
Round 14 Stats: 21 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal, 99 SCPoints, 85 CKPoints
Sam Powell-Pepper
MID | SC Price: $358,200
Round 14 Stats: 20 disposals, 4 marks, 8 tackles, 82 SCPoints, 92 CKPoints
Dan Houston
FWD | SC Price: $315,900
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 5 marks, 64 SCPoints, 44 CKPoints
Callum Brown is on the bubble this week, but hasnβt really set the place on fire in his two games, but weβve now got an interesting option in Matthew White from Port Adelaide. He hasnβt been able to consolidate his spot in the side this year, playing only one other AFL game in Round 4, but with Polec expected back he might be pushed out again, although that would be harsh given the game he had.
Β
Brisbane VS GWS
Alex Witherden
DEF/MID | SC Price: $117,300
Round 14 Stats: 20 disposals, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 76 SCPoints, 77 CKPoints
Hugh McCluggage
MID/FWD | SC Price: $259,900
Round 14 Stats: 19 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles, 77 SCPoints, 86 CKPoints
Jarrod Berry
DEF/MID | SC Price: $307,600
Round 14 Stats: 18 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal, 76 SCPoints, 65 CKPoints
Jake Barrett
MID | SC Price: $340,000
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 32 SCPoints, 39 CKPoints
Daniel Lloyd
MID | SC Price: $186,400
Round 14 Stats: 10 disposals, 4 marks, 1 goal, 48 SCPoints, 46 CKPoints
Tim Taranto
MID/FWD | SC Price: $348,900
Round 14 Stats: 9 disposals, 1 mark, 1 goal, 53 SCPoints, 32 CKPoints
Tim Taranto suffered an ankle injury that potentially puts him out for the rest of the season, but it was about time for him to go regardless. Jake Barrett has seen his BE jump up to a massive 114 this week, heβll potentially fall back down to the low $300K range if he puts in a similar performance as last week.
Jarrod Berry has a BE of 61, so he probably goes to the back of the priority line in a week like weβre facing. Youβd expect Alex Witherden to be named again this week, his dual DEF/MID eligibility is probably very hand this time of the year too.
Β
West Coast VS Melbourne
Malcolm Karpany
MID/FWD | SC Price: $185,000
Round 14 Stats: 15 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal, 61 SCPoints, 53 CKPoints
Nathan Vardy
RUC | SC Price: $398,700
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 33 hitouts, 90 SCPoints, 96 CKPoints
Tom Cole
DEF | SC Price: $217,900
Round 14 Stats: 8 disposals, 1 mark, 1 tackle, 30 SCPoints, 28 CKPoints
Mitchell Hannan
FWD | SC Price: $317,600
Round 14 Stats: 17 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal, 56 SCPoints, 70 CKPoints
Nathan Vardy has quietly been putting in some nice games lately, with a 3 round average of 96 SCPoints and a 5 round average of 90. His BE is currently just 19, but may run into some issues with the potential return of Scott Lycett on the horizon.
Mitch Hannan continued his yo-yo form, but his BE is just 40, so he should break that even if he has another quiet game again.
Β
Western Bulldogs VS North Melbourne
Declan Mountford
MID | SC Price: $157,500
Round 14 Stats: 13 disposals, 3 tackles, 46 SCPoints, 44 CKPoints
Declan Mountford had his 3rd game and first price rise of the year, but is averaging just 49 SCPoints. Weβre probably less worried about scoring potential and more about job security at this point of the year as we probably wonβt have time to downgrade picks and thinking more in terms of backup, so he wouldnβt be the worst option to consider if he is named again.
Β
Geelong VS Fremantle
James Parsons
FWD | SC Price: $241,800
Round 14 Stats: 14 disposals, 2 marks, 2 goals, 4 tackles, 82 SCPoints, 68 CKPoints
Tom Stewart
DEF | SC Price: $327,800
Round 14 Stats: 10 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, 48 SCPoints, 49 CKPoints
Sean Darcy
RUC| SC Price: $117,300
Round 14 Stats: 14 disposals, 2 tackles, 40 hitouts, 50 SCPoints, 80 CKPoints
Griffin Logue
DEF | SC Price: $181,300
Round 14 Stats: 10 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 58 SCPoints, 49 CKPoints
Luke Ryan
DEF | SC Price: $163,800
Round 14 Stats: 10 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 49 SCPoints, 45 CKPoints
Cam McCarthy
FWD | SC Price: $257,400
Round 14 Stats: 7 disposals, 4 marks, 44 SCPoints, 37 CKPoints
Brennan Cox
DEF/FWD | SC Price: $117,300
Round 14 Stats: 15 disposals, 6 marks, 3 tackles, 8 hitouts, 60 SCPoints, 69 CKPoints
Tom Stewart suffered a fractured eye socket against Fremantle, but the amount of time he misses (if any) is unknown at this stage. Sean Darcy made his AFL debut, but despite the 40 hitouts, he didnβt really trouble the Supercoach scorers, which would probably indicate he didnβt get many hitouts to advantage.
Β
Richmond VS Carlton
Daniel Butler
FWD | SC Price: $248,900
Round 14 Stats: 8 disposals, 2 marks, 2 goals, 7 tackles, 76 SCPoints, 61 CKPoints
Shai Bolton
MID/FWD | SC Price: $199,000
Round 14 Stats: 4 disposals, 3 tackles, 39 SCPoints, 28 CKPoints
Caleb Marchbank
DEF | SC Price: $367,700
Round 14 Stats: 11 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 60 SCPoints, 58 CKPoints
Jarrod Pickett
MID/FWD | SC Price: $174,800
Round 14 Stats: 6 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 43 SCPoints, 26 CKPoints
Sam Petrevski-Seton
MID | SC Price: $292,600
Round 14 Stats: 4 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 32 SCPoints, 32 CKPoints
Caleb Marchbank suffered a slight price drop last week, but nothing major. His BE is 101 this week however, so he might have a slightly bigger hit on the cards this week.
Jarrod Pickett played his first AFL game since Round 5, but didnβt do much to make us all that excited about that prospect in Supercoach, while Sam Petrevski-Seton bled some more cash and currently has a 5 round average of just 47 SCPoints.
St Kilda VS Gold Coast
Ben Ainsworth
MID/FWD | SC Price: $268,800
Round 14 Stats: 17 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 64 SCPoints, 58 CKPoints
Jarrod Witts
RUC | SC Price: $475,300
Round 14 Stats: 12 disposals, 4 marks, 6 tackles, 1 goal, 31 hitouts, 99 SCPoints, 109 CKPoints
Ben Ainsworth continued his reasonable scoring pace, apart from the game against Carlton where he scored 39 SCPoints, heβs been hovering in that 60-70 point range, which isnβt too bad for a rookie player. Jarrod Witts again got his job done in the ruck, and even though he slightly dropped in cash value, heβs still scoring well.

@BarronVonCrow
In grand final round can you use your remaining trades for example if you have 3 left or is the cap still 2 trades and the rest go to waste?
This happened to me last year. The two trade cap is still in place
rest to waste
Looking for M/F rookie to swing Greenwood when required. Is White worth the extra $ over someone like Brown or Karpany. Prefer better JS as I'll hold them to end. Suggestions please?
If you are keeping Greenwood as your F7M9 you need Jarman as your matching swingset
Tarir Bayok (WCE).
102k, if you're using as a swing set you don't want him to play. Eagles have a lot of Sunday games.
Whats Karpany's Job Security like?
About one bad game away from being dropped, eagles have a couple out who will walk back in when right.
They also have a kid banging the door down for a game. Partington.
3 votes – Barron Von Crow
Down to 6 trades this week is that above or below par? Been a very tough year, how's everyone else in the community tracking trades-wise?
8 trades – unfortunately one needed on Beams
I have 6, but feel the average is around 8.
6 with coverage and full premo is a good position though.
I think you are just on par, actually.
6
then too much
with that many probably should keep Beams and take your bench score for 3 or 4 weeks
9 here.
Who's of more importance
Heeney or Roberton
Just thinking of Roberton because my defence doesn't have much cash generation unlike my forward.
Cheers community
Heeney. Watch him play and you will understand
Thanks Barron. This has been an incredibly valuable contribution all year. It is much appreciated
Surely after those numbers, Hibberd (North) and Preuss will get a call up… they have been on my bench all year.. π
Please no! Josh Deluca-Cardillo got called up and if Hibberd plays, I won't have a loophole option
That Preuss cash would go down a treat! May fund a very nice luxury trade in the future
What's everyone's VC/C options or choices this week?
great stuff Baron a lot of research goes into this stuff we cant access thanks loads keep it going son
Nice to see Setterfield back out there racking them up
Begley must be getting close to a debut, particularly with Green stinking it up.
You got to be kidding Eddie. As much as I dislike the Tigers and the poor mans Nick Reiwolt I completely agree with Nietz and co Surely with a record like HOULIS he deserves a cut Chances are he will never be up again .. People litke Houli need to be given a chance and throw the book at repeat offenders .ARE you listening EDDIE probably not but you give Buckley chance after chance but not B H
What are you talking about? Eddie has been as honest as can be.
"We have a competing side"
"Stop giving Buckley crap he's an amazing coach"
"Carlton are just stuck up pigs"
And so on
I don't trust Edie anymore
Need some suggestions on whether any more trades would be wise:
5 trades, $11K in bank.
DEF: Doch, Adams, Laird, Harbrow, Roberton, Lloyd (Stewart, Scharenberg)
MID: Danger, Bont, JPK, Pendles, Oliver, Jelwood, Rocky, Scooter (Fischer, Myers, Cousins)
RUC: Grundy, Nank (Strnadica)
FWD: Heeney, McCrae, Dahl, Greene, Yeo, Lynch (Greenwich, Bolton)
I know I need to move scooter, and probably Nank on, think I can afford those moves with 5 trades? Going for league wins.
Just hold
No mate hold onto to the trades there is still 8 rounds to go.
Upgrade later
Docherty, Laird, Simpson, Shaw, Harbrow, Hibberd EMG: Scharnerg, Ryan
Danger, Martin, Titch, Pendles, Wines, Hanners, Beams, Fyfe EMG: Barrett, Bolton, Cousins
Martin, Grundy EMG: Strnadica
Yeo, Macrae, Dahlhaus, Nank, Heeney, Greenwod EMG: Parsons, Eddy
This is what I’m thinking of doing this week.
Barrett out for White
Beams out for Zerrett
Leaves me with $77k
Next week (R16)
Shaw out for Lloyd
Fyfe out for Jelwood once he has reached $480k or less – If he didn't get concussed in the start of the game his average will be 112 so I don't think its worth while paying almost an extra $100k for someone like Neale who will score about the same as Jelwood.
Leaves me with 4 trades after round 16
At some point I will upgrade Parsons to a premo Forward like Wallis but in the meantime I will use the highest scorer from Greenwood & Parsons as my F6 – Eddy as my loophole.
Once I upgrade Parsons to a premo – I want to keep Greenwood as M9 & F7 cover for the rest of the season.
What do you all think?
Hey Pete, I reckon Barrett to Witherden will make you more cash, Beams to Merrett is solid.
Maybe wait and not trade next week if Fyfe plays this week and Shaw puts up something decent this week.
You're very low on trades so you need to save em for the finals..I'm thinking Greenwood is a keeper on field…could also save you trades.
Sometimes you need to bite the bullet in some rounds even if you know you're going to lose some rounds, otherwise you'll be royally stuffed. If you run out of trades before finals, and then get injuries, it's over…prematurely.
Can't trade every week in Supercoach.
great report BVC clubs will be lined up to get the no 1 draft 2019.Maybe hawks stkilda type future picks will be done.HILL from w.a. is special. a rioli type and well worth trading future picks for.Too young for 2017 but look out in 2019. Do you know much about the boy Baron cheers
I've got GC Tom Lynch, and actually only just traded him in over the byes, so not really looking to trade him out. I just hope to God he can turn it around :-/
