SuperCoach Team Reveal v3.0

Published by Jock on

SuperCoach 2017 Team RevealTime to perv on each others current SuperCoach teams!

Will be very interested to roll the eye over these, especially keen to see which way most are heading with ruck structure as discussed in this weeks podcast.

The latest word is that Sandiballs may lumber his way onto the park for some JLT Series action – great news for many!

Midfield rookies.. are they THIN on the ground or what!? Myers is out now – leaving young Sammy PP as the only existing MID only lockable rookie. And we haven’t even had a good look at the kid yet!

How are you dealing with the MID rookie situation? Which way are you going in the ruck? How many midpricers sucked a few in over the weekend?!

I bloody love this caper, look forward to losing myself in the commenting significance below.Β

(PS.. I’ll be posting JR Brumby FC up here in the week before lockout)

laird, simpson, mills, scarenbweg, vickers willis, stewart
pendulberry, kennedy, treloar, rockliff, fyfe, coniglio, swallow , spp
gawn sandiballs
dahlhouse, heeney, caddy ryder, pickette, black

thaughts please
gone lots of mids in forwards but some too good to past options

    zakvb · 22/02/2017 at 21:11

    love coniglio pick, great POD
def is lacking depth i reckon but looks like most are going with 3 on field rookies
risky fwd with caddy and heeney but overall solid team

    hedski · 22/02/2017 at 22:55

    No danger, kick in balls.

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:04

No danger, good to see. way overpriced

    get spellcheck

    neil Demons Delight · 23/02/2017 at 13:10

Risky without Danger coniglio solid pod sandy risky too but still good team

John · 22/02/2017 at 20:49

Simpson, Adams, Laird, Newman, Vickers-Willis, Hibberd, Ryan, Stewart
Dangerfield, Treloar, Hanners, Jelwood, Fyfe, Swallow, SPP, Miles, Freeman, Graham, Bolton
Gawn, Grundy, Strnadica
Dahlhaus, Gunston, Caddy, Roughead, McCluggage, Bowes, Smith, Eddy

    hedski · 22/02/2017 at 22:57

Solid as a rock, plenty of wriggle room John.

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:07

Dont know about Jelwood. Reach the stage where he wont improve and you have left out a few guys who matched his effort last year and should improve

      John · 23/02/2017 at 07:18

      Who do you suggest Luskin?

        Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 09:56

Cripps or Bont. See below for reasons

      Narcissist · 23/02/2017 at 08:21

Why not Selwood? He is as consistent and durable as they come. A very safe pick

        Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 08:40

Dont get me wrong Selwood is a safe pick. He averaged 112 last year and will probably do so again. At his age though there isnt much chance that he will improve on that. Cripps and Bont averaged 108 last year and havent psaked yet so there is a chance they will outscore him this year and are both cheaper.

          Rich · 23/02/2017 at 08:48

Whilst I agree with Bont and Cripps Luskin, don't forget Selwood didn't have a preseason last year..

          Cade · 23/02/2017 at 16:19

I have Cripps and Bont and will be picking them for the next 10 years

      neil Demons Delight · 23/02/2017 at 13:13

Sorry L S totally disagree Danger no 1 cat Jelwood no 2 then space to 3

        John · 23/02/2017 at 17:55

Sorry Luskin Star but I'll take Selwood who has had a full pre season over Cripps who has had an interrupted pre season and Bont who I believe has an ankle niggle.

    cooper clarke · 23/02/2017 at 19:02

me myself I wouldn't go any key forwards, so id say no gunston for me. if I was to go a key forward though id go lynch (gc) he had a great sc year last year, in practically the worst team in the comp. and with some key mids coming into the side he will be licking. I'm backing him to go big this year will have a stand out year, top 4 forwards!!

Matt · 22/02/2017 at 20:56

Docherty, Adams, Laird, Scharenberg, Vickers Willis, Newman (Ryan, Stewart)

Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Hannebery, Kennedy, Fyfe, Swallow, Gallucci, SPP ( Graham, Hibbered, Bolton)

Gawn, Sandilands (Stranadica)

Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, Caddy, Ryder, McCluggage, Black (Pickett, Smith)

    Matt · 22/02/2017 at 21:02

    Thoughts much appreciated uncle Jock!

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:10

Maybe move gallucci to fwds. Whatever he scores will be of more value there

      Matt · 23/02/2017 at 08:36

Who would I then get in the midfield? And take out of the forward line?

        Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 08:48

Im not a good one to ask about rookies because i know nothing about any of the ones we havent seen. My point is though that if he averages 65, a 65 from your f6 is better than a 65 from your m7 or 8.

    John · 24/02/2017 at 13:09

Ryder out for Eddy and Gallucci out for T Mitchell

jesseSPANNER · 22/02/2017 at 20:57

Doc, Laird, Mills, Vickers, Newman, Stewart (ryan, long)
Danger, Pendles, Hanners, Robbie Gray, Fyfe,,Tom Mitch, pepper, Myers (yes, I need to trade him) (miles, brown, graham)
Gawn, Stef Martin (stern dick)
Dahl, Gunston, Ryder, Roughy, Aaron Black, Balic (smith, eddy)

18k in the bank

Of course, rookies are subject to change.

Mills may not pay off but I see fire in the young bull's eyes

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:13

Mills wont let you down. Will be a good pod

Jess · 22/02/2017 at 20:59

Adams, Laird, JJ, Hibberd, vickers Ellis, Ryan, Stewart, Newman

Dangers, Pendles, Hannebery, Fyfe, O'Meara, Swallow, McCluggage, Powell Pepper, barret, Pickett, Miles

Gawn, Goldstein, Cameron

Dahlhaus, Heeney, Ryder, Roughead, Bowes, Black, LeBois, Eddy

What do you think, Uncle Jock?

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:15

Mcbags would be better placed in fwds whatever he scores there will be of more value

    Matt · 23/02/2017 at 21:03

    Like it!

James · 22/02/2017 at 21:00

DEF: Adams, Laird, JJ, KK, Scharenberg, Ryan (Hibberd, Vickers-Willis)

MID: Danger, Hanners, Treloar, Rockliff, Fyfe, Swallow, SPP, Pickett (Wigg, Freeman, Graham)

RUCK: Gawn, Sandi (Strndica)

FWD: Dahlhaus, Macrae, Ryder, Roughad, McClugage, D.Cameron (Bolton, Eddy)

*Rookies obviously subject to change and not sure if it is worth sacrificing a mid to get a reliable ruck instead of sandi

    Tyruddanaut · 22/02/2017 at 21:25

You can get Grundy but it will do a bit of rearranging. You would need to get rid of sandi, swallow, and SPP For Grundy, Zac Guthrie and maybe J. Cousins in mid. It's a risk, but so is sandi

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:16

    love the kk pick

Billingsbreakoutyear · 22/02/2017 at 21:03

(T.stewart, J.smith)
Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, rocky
M.crouch, Billings, d.swallow
J.Barrett (pppeper, miles, d.mountford)
Gawn, Sandiballs (B.Longer)
Dolls house, J.Mcrae, P.Ryder
Roughy, A.Black, B.Eddy (J.pickett, T.Smith)

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:20

Backed billings in last year and he let me down. May not take much to convince me to give him another go. why are you so keen?

      BillingsBreakoutyear · 23/02/2017 at 06:53

spent Friday night with the Stkilda football club for a function, I had Jack steven and the ruck coach on my table. Steven said he think Jack will have a Brownlow year coming the form he has shown over the pre season. Not sure if you saw him in the intra club match, but he absolutely dominated. Best on by far.
Also, the Ruck coach told me that he is one of the hardest workers hes dealt with, always does more than required and that is rare. Full pre season under his belt, a lot of expectations but a lot of reward if it pays off!

        Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 08:59

Comment about being a hard worker doesnt sway me unless of course it is a change from the past. Steven's comment is telling though. I already have 4 fwds between 300 and 400k with the possibility of a 5th if bennell gets on field. What the hell one more risk wont kill me.

          BillingsBreakoutyear · 23/02/2017 at 09:53

Yeah he said it was a change, he said his attitude has improved immensely

BILLINGS FOR THE WIN · 23/02/2017 at 19:09

I'm going billings too will have a great year

KAF · 22/02/2017 at 21:03

Def: Docherty, Adams, Laird, K. Kolodjashnij, Vickers-Willis, Stewart (Ryan, Smith)
Mid: Danger, Hannebery, Treloar, Rocky, Fyfe, Beams, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Barrett, Bolton, Graham)
Ruck: Gawn, Witts (Strnadica)
Fwd: Dahl, Macrae, Lynch, Bowes, Black, Pickett (Miles, Eddy

Willing to take the risk on Witts given there's no standout rucks apart from Gawn imo.. Will hopefully hold him until his bye (expected average of 75-80) and upgrade to Goldy/Smartin/Grundy. All thoughts and opinions appreciated lads.

    John · 22/02/2017 at 21:30

Very high risk team I wouldn't touch Witts IMHO far to risky plus he's not guaranteed a start at gold coast I would get a better quality ruckmen either Goldy or Grundy

    Billy · 22/02/2017 at 23:47

If younare going with a mid price ruck then pick sandi, he will score better. He might get injured but witts migjt get dropped and thats even worse!

Steve · 22/02/2017 at 21:06

B: Simmo, Rance, Laird, Mills, Vickers-Willis, Newman (Ryan, Guthrie)
M: Danger, Pendles, JPK, Treloar, Rocky, Fyfe, Swallow, SPP (Barrett, Pickett, Graham)
R: Grundy, Sandi (Strnadica)
F: Dahl, Caddy, Roughy, Black, Miles, Cameron (Smith, Eddy)

Posted my team earlier this week but have tweaked the backline a bit.

Any thoughts appreciated!

    Tyruddanaut · 22/02/2017 at 21:26

I don't think it will be a good year for Simmo but don't trust me off a gut feeling

    Ddoo · 22/02/2017 at 22:45

Best I have seen without Max.

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:22

Heard rance has tendonitis. Not a good sign before the season even starts.

zakvb · 22/02/2017 at 21:08

Def: Adams, Laird, Johanissen, Hurley, vickers-willis, ryan (stewart. long)
Mid: Danger, JPK, Dusty, Bont, Fyfe, Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Miles (HIbberd, Graham, Ronke)
Ruck: Gawn, Ryder (sterndicka)
Fwd: Dahlhaus, T Lynch, Wingard, Roughead, Balic, Bolton (Smith, Eddy)
$77,700 in the bank, need help.
i know fwd line is risky as hell but i believe lynch and wingard will be top 10 fwds this year, maybe roughy on the brink of that.
same thing with my defs, no doc but my d1-d4 i reckon will be top 10 def scorers.
not loving my r2 in ryder, should i downgrade hurley to rookie and get premo r2 and possible premo mid for swallow at m6.
help is very much appreciated community

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:28

I wouldnt shift hurley. He was top 8 when he last played. Leave swallow until his bye when you might be able to get premo mid. I would downgrade dusty and move Ryder to fwds. Think he will be top 10 fwd.

      zakvb · 23/02/2017 at 08:59

mid would be lacking depth though with the limited rookie selections if downgrade dusty.

        Rhino · 24/02/2017 at 08:19

If you're prepared to go with Ryder and roughy then maybe consider sandiballs and Ryder for a similar spend.

Love the Lynch pick but I worry about the number of port gcs players. Wingard is the better value of the bunch but Lynch is the better season long bet IMO.

Chris · 22/02/2017 at 21:10

Docherty, Shaw, Adams, Bob, Vickers-Willis, Stewart (Berry, Z Guthrie)
Danger, Fyfe, Pendles, Bont, Cripps, Swallow, SPP, Fox (Freeman, Gore, Greenwood)
Gawn, Sandi (Strndica)
Dahlhouse, Ryder, Roughead, Elliot, Hoskin-Elliot, Mcclugage (Bowes, Black)

    Phil · 23/02/2017 at 16:37

Hi Chris, not sure why nobody commented on your team but I'll give it a crack.

DEF: Watch Bob, coming off an ACL will be tough at his age…id consider downgrading to beef up the midfield.
MIDs: Seem a bit light on given there is no standout rookies yet. I'd rather see a rookie upgraded, even if it's to a cheap Beams/Murphy/Watson.
RUCKs: no complaints provided Sandis fit
FWDS: I'm 50/50 on Roughie being a good pick, I'm less so on Elliot. Also not convinced Hoskin Elliot and McBags will be worth the extra spend, especially since you have another on the bench (Bowes)

KICKITDOWNTHEGUTS · 22/02/2017 at 21:10

R.Laird, T-Mac, E. Vickers-Willis,
L.Ryan, T.Stewart, J.Smith (Z.Guthrie, F.Watson)

Gawn, Jacobs (D.Cameron)

Dahlhaus, Macrae,
T.Miles, J.Daicos, S.Bolton (B.Parfit, B.Eddy)

$104,000 in the bank to make adjustments if needed,
Strong midfield but banking on a lot of rookies getting a game, bit of a risk but hoping it could be the difference.
Please feel free to rate the side fellas πŸ™‚

    Eric_the_Red · 22/02/2017 at 21:55

I really like this team. Looking at running a similar structure myself although I'd go one less mid premium and one more forward. Good luck.

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:30

Man thats a strong mid. Love zerritt and Tmac

130k in bank
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

    Billy · 22/02/2017 at 23:51

Id use your extra cash to upgrade either heeney or ryder. No need to take two mid price risks there get a sure thing.
Not sure about taranto either. JS is poor and will have to score around 80 to make $200k
    But otherwise I like it

Bank: $19.4k

    Dukes · 22/02/2017 at 22:27

Downgrade murph and upgrade 2 of crouch meng prestia to some trusted premiums. To much risk picking 3 potiential breakout mids

      Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:36

Think prestia has a chance at averaging 115. Dont think the other 2 do.

    NoLanguage · 24/02/2017 at 22:35

Like the Prestia pick. Don't like the Hickey one.

John · 22/02/2017 at 21:22

My current team
Back line Adams, Laird, JJ, Newman, Vickers-Willis, Stewart. Bench Long, Ryan.

Midfield Dangerfield, Selwood, Z Merrett, Treloar, Fyfe, T Mitchell, Powell-Pepper, Wigg. Bench Hibberd, Miles, Poholke.

Rucks Gawn, Grundy. Bench Cameron.

forward line N Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, McCrae, Black, Pickett, Bolton. Bench Daicos, Eddy.

70k in the bank I'm pretty happy with my team ATM

    Jedders · 22/02/2017 at 22:03

Don't mind this team at all. Solid structure. Well done

Would love some feedback from everyone
(Def) Docherty, Adams, Laird, Hartlett, Sharenberg, Stewart (Newman, Ryan)
(Mid) Dangerfield, Treloar, Bontempelli, Fyfe, Murphy, Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Mcluggage (Hibberd, Freeman, Brown)
(Ruck) Gawn, Martin (Strandica)
(Fwd) Dahlhaus, Macrae, Caddy, Bowes, Pickett, Bolton (Black, Eddy)
Am a bit cheap up forward but feel this is the way to go, should I downgrade Hartlett for a another premo in the midfield?

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:40

Hartlett has a shot at top 10 IMHO so i wouldnt shift him. Move McBags to the fwds. A 70 from your f6 is better than a 70 from your m8

    Duffer · 23/02/2017 at 01:42

Hartlett played off half back in ports internal club match. Looks like he'll be playing the same role as last year, meaning less midfield minutes and the same low scoring

      Jason · 23/02/2017 at 17:56

      Will know tonight

Zach · 22/02/2017 at 21:30

DEF – Docherty, T.Adams, Laird, K.Kolodjashnij, Scharenberg, Ryan (Stewart, Newman)

MID – Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Fyfe, Murphy, Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Freeman (Pickett, Graham, Bolton)

RUCK – Gawn, Goldsteine (Strnadica)

FWD – Dahlhaus, Macrae, Caddy, Hoskin-Elliot, Bowes, Black (Eddy, Smith)

Keenbutclueless · 22/02/2017 at 21:36

Worried about lack of midfield and forward rookies. But seem spoiled for choice down back. So a slightly unusual structure

Def. adams, Laird, Hampton, vickers-Willis, Newman, Stewart (Ryan, smith)
Mid. Danger, Hanners, Selwood, Treloar, Fyfe, Titchell, m Crouch, SPP (Barrett, mountford, Pickett)
Ruck. Gawn, Sandi (Stndicka)
Fwd. Dahl, Macrae, Caddy, Ryder, Black, Miles (Cameron , Eddy)

I am ok with the bye structure.
I really believe Doch can be bought cheaper.
Can swap M Crouch for Grundy and Sandi for Swallow as a plan b. But have a feeling Crouch could be the next beast.

Thanks in advance for your comments

    Jedders · 22/02/2017 at 22:06

Defence is way to go light in for sure. Doc will come down in price and can use maybe a swinging mid or forward mid pricer stepping stone to upgrade around round 6! I'm seeing very common midfields atm which is worrying

    Luskin Star · 23/02/2017 at 00:45

Personally i like plan b. I think swallow will outscore crouch but opinons are like butts, everyone has one

BeaglieBoy · 22/02/2017 at 21:40

Def: Simpson Adams Laird Keefe newman Ryan (Vickers-Willis Stewart)

Mid: Dangerfield, Pendlebury Merrett, Treleor Rockliff Fyfe Swallow Horlin Smith (SPP Hibberd Parfitt)

Ruck: Gawn Sandilands (Stramdica)

Fwd: Dahlhaus Macrae Roughhead Black Pickett Eddy (Durdin Long)

Deliberately weak in fwds…gotta be thin somewhere I guess.. If not enough fwd rookies named I will down grade on of my many premo mids

    Dukes · 22/02/2017 at 22:37

Horlin smith is interesting dominates reserves but hasnt been able to cement a spot. Too risky for mine.

Whats your plan if sandi gets injured early?

Tommo09 · 22/02/2017 at 21:40

    The Ranger · 22/02/2017 at 22:31

Nice team Tommo, not sure about the 200k rookies, or having no back up ruck, or the Ablett pick but it's a ballsy team.
Put it thru Triggers risk spreadsheet.
    Good luck mate.

Who would have thought that Gaz would one day be a POD. Could be a masterstroke

Kev · 22/02/2017 at 21:41

No panic about mid rookies at this end, Jock. Lists still to be finalised, rookies will be upgraded = happy days.

Rooster · 22/02/2017 at 21:42

Dockerty, Shaw, Laird, Scharenburg, Vickers-Willis, Stewart ( Newman, Ryan)

Danger, Pendles, Hanners, Crips, Fyfe, Swallow, McLuggage, Powell-Pepper ( Freeman, Pickett, Graham)

Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)

RUCK: Gawn, Martin (Strnadica)

FWD: Dahlhaus, Lynch, Roughead, McCluggage, Black, Pickett (Smith, Eddy)

Not sold on starting both Heppell and Swallow, but Heppel is the only decent mid I could get for what I had left in the salary cap.

    Andrew · 23/02/2017 at 15:26

Will be good to see how Prestia goes in the next few weeks, maybe a replacement for Heppell?

      jezzahill · 23/02/2017 at 15:46

Yeah he's probably the only other one at that price range I would consider, but his injury history is a real concern. Only played 22 games across the last two seasons.

    Bruce paperclips · 23/02/2017 at 23:39

Like your structure! I agree with your sentiments on Hepp can't see him breaking 105, maybe M.Crouch?

I see people mostly taking Scharenberg, what the thoughts on thurlow and whats the highest you would put him in D4?

    Thur low · 24/02/2017 at 12:15

I have him D4 he should fill the role Enright had well

      bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 12:29

I agree, he should fill the role well enough. However at the price point Scharenberg is better value and should score about the same so potentially will score more cash and quicker.

Docherty, Shaw, Adams, Hodge, Vickers-Willis, T. Stewart, Z. Guthrie, J. Smith

    Phil · 23/02/2017 at 16:48

Hi Amy, get J.Smith out as I believe T.Smith is the more likely to get a game for Melb and he is a FWD.
    So regarding your 6 rookies;
    BCKS J.Smith OUT Newman/Ryan IN
    MIDS: Pickett, Hibberd, Balic
    FWDS: Bowes, Eddy, T.Smith

Seeing alot of similar teams I've put together a team based on the lone wolf structure.

Simmo, JJ, Williams, Murphy, Phillips, EVW. (Ryan, Guthrie)
Pendles, hannas, gray, bont, titch, menegola murphy, swallow. (Bolton, Clark, Freeman)
Grundy, Martin. (Strninca)
Roo, mccrae, hoskin-elliott, hrvoat, galluci , Smith. (Eddy, Miles)

    Certainly is different,
    Pods a plenty.

Love the plums to pick menegola – good on ya.
Probably do need one of danger or gawn but pendles/martin/reg might go ok.
be interesting to put this team into the old risk profile

Rawkus11 · 22/02/2017 at 23:03

Obviously rookies will change quite a bit, but I'm pretty sure this will be my structure:

Def: Shaw, Laird, Adams, Scharenberg, Hampton, Newman (EVW, Ryan)
Mid: Danger, Gaz, Rocky, Fyfe, Heppel,Swallow, SPP, Barrett (Gore, Hibberd, Freeman)
Ruc: Gawnstein (Strnadica)
Fwd: Dahl, Buddy, Macrae, Roughy, Black, McKay (Daicos, Eddy)

What ya reckon?

micdidjeri · 22/02/2017 at 23:17

Would love some feedback, here's the current lineup:

Def: Docherty, Adams, Laird, Pittard, Newman, Vicker-willis (Stewart, Ryan)
Mid: Hannebery, Treloar, Cripps, Fyfe, Tmitch, swallow, SPP, graham (Myers, freeman, Hibberd)
Ruc: Gawn, Grundy (strndcica)
Fwd: Kennedy, Dahlhouse, Caddy, Black, Eddy, Balic (smith, battle)

Still got $125,100 dosh in the bank
Unsure whether to bolster my deplorable forward line by going D3 down back or make an effort to squeeze in danger

    BlueBalls · 23/02/2017 at 00:25

I think you need to start Dangerfield even at the price he is. Too big a risk to fall behind that many points so early on.

Myers is out for a couple of months so you'll need to find another rookie mid.

Cripps has a back injury that he's coming back from. Interrupted preseason so he'll be underdone which is a risk too.

Maybe swap Myers for a cheaper rookie ($123k or less. Maybe Bolton or Miles) and swap Cripps for Dangerman.

I just don't think it's worth losing all those points in the hope he will drop a lot in price.

I like your backline but that's probably because it's very similar to mine!

      micdidjeri · 23/02/2017 at 09:09

Thanks mate really like your thinking.

Will definitely make that trade happen! Had no idea Cripps was underdone and not willing to take that risk

        BlueBalls · 23/02/2017 at 11:46

Cheers mate. Ironically there's much less risk with Danger!

Fatboyfat7 · 22/02/2017 at 23:28

Laird, Burgoyne, Thurlow, Keeffe, VW, Stewart (Ryan, Smith)

Danger, Treloar, Rocky, The Bont, Fyfe, T Mitchell, Swallow, SPP (Barrett, Pickett, Freeman)

Goldy, Ryder ( Strnadica)

Rooey, Dahl, Caddy, Roughy, Black, Miles, (Eddy, Cameron)

Roomies subject to change, Thurlow is a stepping stone who I'm hoping will score well early. Ryder will be shifted to F6 and and an R2 will be traded in once I know who…

If Sandi shows up, might change around a little…

Also toying between The Bont and Selwood…

    Fatboyfat7 · 22/02/2017 at 23:30

Edit: Should be GAWN and Ryder, dunno what I was doing there!!

      BenGroß · 23/02/2017 at 00:54

i wouldn't think Bont would ave more than Selwood, maybe equal. So i would go with the POD (Selwood)

Ruck: Grundy, Hickey (English)
Forward: Dahlhaus, Macrae, Gunston, Black, Eddy, Daicos (T Smith, Durdin)

That's right, no Dangerfield, no Gawn… There is method to my madness. Happy for some constructive criticism though.

Round 13 you lose Adams, Sharenberg, Pendles, Treloar, Fyfe, Crouch, Grundy, Gunston, Coniglio, plus rookies. If you're going for the 'lose that bye round and smash the others', ok. If you're thinking rank then a re-thought is needed.

Am I out of my mind with the risks in the midfield? Will swap JOM and Sandi if they don't line up for R1.

Def: Docherty, Adams, Laird, Hampton, Vickers-Willis, Stewart (Newman, Ryan)

Mid: Dangerfield, JPK, Treloar, Rockliff, Bont, Fyfe, JOM, Swallow (SPP, Mountford, Graham)

    johnno2908 · 24/02/2017 at 07:23

Like this team with the contested machines in the MID's.
Maybe 1 too many rookies in the Forward line? Although there is not much to like there anyway. Possibly have 1 of JOM/Swallow. Depending on how much cash you have left, if you go JOM down to a 117k rookie, frees up $200k to possibly get you Black up to Ryder to cover Sandi. Think Ryder will be top 10 FWD anyway.

Damien · 23/02/2017 at 00:19

With the lack of mid rookies, I've gone for a flimsy sort of forward line.

Def: Shaw, Rance, Laird, Vickers-Willis, Newman, Ryan (Stewart, Smith)

Mid: Dangerfield, JPK, Rockliff, Sidebottom, Fyfe, Mitchell, Viney, Powell-Pepper (Barrett, Gore, Fisher)

Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Cameron)

Fwd: Dahlhaus, Macrae, Black, Pickett, Balic, Miles (Bolton, Eddy)

31K remaining

    Deepressed · 23/02/2017 at 00:42

Rance injured mate, think you should look elsewhere. I'd try to lose some cash in the midfield and upgrade a FWD Rookie into Roughead. Otherwise looking good!

      Damien · 23/02/2017 at 10:58

Not sold on Roughead. Fair call on Rance.

I like to pick expensive rookies at this stage as they're all fluid, and when the cheapo's solidify prior to round one it's an easy downgrade, freeing up some cash and hopefully inserting another premo. My team thus far, would appreciate the community's thoughts:

DEF: S.Docherty, T.Adams, R.Laird, E.Vickers-Willis, N.Newman, C.Hampton, (L.Ryan, T.Stewart)
MID: P.Dangerfield, S.Pendlebury, T.Rockliff, R.Gray, N.Fyfe, D.Swallow, A.McGrath, S.Powell-Pepper (O.Florent, J.Barrett, M.Hibberd)
RUC: M.Gawn, A.Sandilands (D.Cameron)
FWD: L.Dahlhaus, J.Macrea, I.Heeney, J.Roughead, H.McCluggae, J.Bowes, (J.Gallucci, B.Eddy)

    RobDog · 23/02/2017 at 01:31

I like it. Just be aware no backup for Sandi if Cameron not playing, and you lose Gray, Swallow, SPP, Bowes rd 9 when all 22 score. I'm avoiding Poort/GC until after the bye, aiming for Gray then. Also 6 premos (including Heeney, Sandi and Rough), in Rds 11 & 13.

      Deepressed · 23/02/2017 at 01:53

Thanks mate, all valid points. To be honest I really haven't paid attention to any byes although I probably should! The Sandi risk is the big IF going into the season. Just can't bring myself to pick Ryder as DPP swing protection. May turn into Goldy if the cheap rookies turn up.

Caz · 23/02/2017 at 00:51

Hi guys just playing around with a few things.
Def. Adams laird tuohy scharenberg Newman Ryan ( Evw Stewart )
Mid. Danger pendles treloar jpk rocky Fyfe Powell pepper Bolton ( Barrett hibberd graham )
Rck. Gawn sandi ( strnadica )
Fwd. Dahlhaus macrae Roughead black Pickett smith (Cameron eddy )
With that team I have 433k spare at the moment but it won't be staying like that, the extra money can turn sandi into a premo ruck or even put in a 7th premo mid if there is a shortage of mid rookies. If the mid rookies turn up I can either strengthen the def or fwds.
Any thoughts appreciated thnx.

Only $1.4k remaining so would be interested to hear where people think I can find some extra cash from……

    BlueBalls · 23/02/2017 at 13:32

Hey Lach, Montagna picked up a calf injury recently so I'm not sure if he's going to play any JLT games. Might be underdone…

I think Adams should be in the backline since he's a DPP.

What's the thinking behind Kolodjashnij pick? Will he have a breakout year? I think it's better to invest that money in a rookie mid (Graham/Miles/Freeman) after moving Adams into his position down back.

Will Ryder be a top 6 fwd? With the cash you free up from Kolo, you could probably upgrade him to a more likely option. I don't think you don't need him as cover since you have two premium rucks.

Just my opinion though. Really like your midfield. You've given me some stuff to think about!

I am noticing that very few backlines are considering Shaun Burgoyne. Finished 2016 really well and may get more mid time with Mitchell and Lewis moving on. Clarko likes to use him in different roles, but if he is free to roam a little more he might finish within the top handful of defenders.

    Northernsoul74 · 23/02/2017 at 09:51

Got my eye on him. Need to understand his role though.

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:14

Like you said, Clarko likes to play him in different roles. It was usually in tight games Burgoyne plays midfield. Usually scores well later in the season

Team is solid but i question the backline. You are spending big on 4 backmen who you will be hoping will be there come seasons end. Where do you think doc shaw simmo and to a slightly lesser extent, monty and boyd will fit in come seasons end? If you want these in your team at the business end of the season, leave room for them by going 3 keepers or start with at least 1 of them.

Ok here goes nothing. Bare in mind there's still a lot of water to go under the bridge for this team but overall I'm happy with the risk rating and the bye set up. Still tossing up options for F3 as well.

Def: Docherty, Adams, Tuohy, Hampton, Vickers-Willis, Ryan (Stewart, Smith)
Mids: Dangerfield, Treloar, Rockliff, Fyfe, T Mitchell, M Crouch, D Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Pickett, Mountford, Bolton)
Rucks: Gawn, Goldstein (Strnadica)
Fwds: Dahlhaus, Caddy, Miller (or Heeney or Roughead), Gallucci, Black, Miles (Cameron, Eddy)

Be kind!!

    Holty · 23/02/2017 at 10:42

Dont mind your team Sarah. Love the set and forget ruck structure. Still undecided on Goldy due to the interrupted preseason but even a half fit Goldy is better then most. Midfield is strong although not sold on Crouch. Also having all Fyfe Rocky and Swallow in the mids is risky i feel. All have injured pasts.
Tuohy could be a great pick this year. Just continue watching him in jlt to see if his role changes. If he stays on that back flank playing that sweeping role, cant see him averaging under 90. Whether he will be a keeper or not is another story. Good luck

      SuperSarah6 · 23/02/2017 at 10:58

Thanks Holty. Matty Crouch is my breakout risk/reward player. Don't usually pick a player like this but I'm willing to take the gamble this year just cos I feel like it!! We'll see how it works out. Also Sloane and Brad Crouch are injured at the moment and someone needs to step up in that midfield. He's got all the assets just needs to increase his TOG. I'm certainly watching the JLT closely regarding Miller, Heeney, Rough, Tuohy, Swallow and of course the rookies. Really liked what I saw from Tuohy against the hawks though, plus he has a very appealing bye! I'm pretty set on the rest of my premo's.

Thanks for your comments, all valid.
      Good luck to you too.

    Moustachio · 23/02/2017 at 21:23

Like the MCrouch pick. Idk about Doc (value) and Goldy (llimited pre-season). Would grab an F4 (e.g. Roughy) with the cash freed up.

Justaman · 23/02/2017 at 09:17

Hello community, would love to hear your thoughts on my team:

Backs: Doc, Shaw, T-Mac, EVW, Newman and Stewart.
Mids: Danger, Pendles, JPK, Jelwood, Treloar, Swallow, SPP and Brodie.
Rucks: Gawn and Jacobs.
Forwards: Dollhouse, Macrae, Ryder, Rough, Miles and Bolton.

$118k in the bank.

Side is obviously subject to change after some rookies eventually show their faces.

Re: backs – While it's true that Shaw can dip in price through seasons, he is surely a lock to finish top 6. Taking a risk on T-Mac on the back of his finish to 2016. Adams too injury prone for mine. Laird an option, but is very popular. McVeigh???

Re: mids – Clearly taking a low risk approach with premos – all proven and all durable. May well get Fyfe or Rocky in there at some point before the season, but I'm finding it hard to choose between them (leaning towards Rocky) and they only play 18-19 game seasons, which counterbalances their high ceilings. Two sets of two premos from the same team is a bit of a concern. One may get the chop.

Re: rucks – I am far from settled here, but at the moment I have Jacobs. Quite possible that his drop in output was rule change and Danger related, but he was also playing injured. Have read Barron's injury updates about him with interest and will watch him eagerly in the JLT. Just reckon he can't go any worse than last year (so shouldn't lose value) and is extremely durable. If he is averaging 90 odd then I will upgrade him to whoever reveals themselves as the best R2 option. Concerns about Martin not being a lone wolf and the length of Sandi's teeth as well as his fragility.

Re: forwards – at the moment I have Ryder, but if I go Jacobs over Sandi then I probably don't need him. Might then look at Billings. Billingsbreakoutyear has been very convincing.

Thanks community.

With some feedback earlier, made some slight changes. As I said earlier, flimsy forward line due to lack of mid rookie options.

Def: Simpson, Shaw, Laird, Vickers-Willis, Newman, Ryan (Stewart, Smith)

Mid: Dangerfield, JPK, Rockliff, Sidebottom, Fyfe, Mitchell, Murphy, Powell-Pepper (Barrett, Gore, Fisher)

Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (Cameron)

Fwd: Dahlhaus, Macrae, Florent, Black, Balic, Miles (Bolton, Eddy)

Not entirely sold on Marc Murphy, but if he is back to his best and if he gets a straight run at it could average 105+

    Holty · 23/02/2017 at 13:21

I'm with you on Murphy. It's been years that he has been fully fit leading into a season so this is his time. No more excuses. We know his ceiling but whether he can get back to that level is the question. If he can average you 105 that would be fantastic. 170k cheaper then a premo and only averaging 5 points less is a bargain.

ThatDamnRascal · 23/02/2017 at 11:19

Have at it.

    Damien · 23/02/2017 at 11:37

Lots of money spread out in the forward line, and Parish is an interesting pick in the midfield. KK at D3 scares me, but that's just because I'm scared of midpriced selections thanks to Patch's article.

      theskyeman · 23/02/2017 at 13:08

Wouldn't consider Goldy over Gawn? Just based on price difference…

Any assistance would be good, noticed alot didnt go with beams and murphy, whys that?

    Damien · 23/02/2017 at 11:39

Beams has had an interrupted last few weeks. Only just been declared fit to play. He's also said his knee with be forever stuffed, and as such he will always need to be managed.

    Derek · 23/02/2017 at 14:17

the fallen premiums can be great, offering good point scoring for dollar spend, but they are "fallen" for a reason, high risk and for many beams is just too risky.

If you think they can get back to near what they were, great investment, but there are very few who will ever be keepers so a valuable trade will still be needed.

Strong lineup I'd say. Risk factor on Sandi, covered with Ryder/Strandica combo which is smart, don't know whether Heeney will be worth the price, maybe better options for McCluggage, but that's all personal preference. Good team all round.

Let me know thoughts as per usual rookies may change. This is my preferred structure with it appearing to be thin in mids re: rookies.

    Derek · 23/02/2017 at 13:51

pendles, treloar and Adams, that is alot of black & White. maybe look at one of the swan midfielders to spread your risk

      Hart_attack · 23/02/2017 at 15:30

I don't necessarily agree with that comment, although they are all pies midfielders they are also not all on the same line, look at the Sydney midfielders you mention, 3 of them sit in the top 8 mids.

Pendles is a shoe in for top 10 and i believe trelaor is also on the verge of Ultra premium, whilst adams as a defender has great upside( if he can stay on the park).

My question is if he was going in with hanners jpk and mills, would you have suggeted swapping for a pie.?? And if so, why?

        neil Demons Delight · 23/02/2017 at 15:48

Adams was rance unitl the other day when it sounded like rance was sturggling with his hammies. Understand ur point, have not even looked at byes yet trying to settle on my structure first which i think i have now. So now i just play around with the premiums. Definately going pendles and trelor though both will be top 8 mids by the end of the year.

    Derek · 23/02/2017 at 13:46

    Love the Hodge pick.

don't like Witts at R2, but it has been discussed enough already. Would prefer to see Ryder at R2 and swing him forward once you have worked out your keeper R2.

I doubt Scharenberg will play round 1.

      Jacob · 23/02/2017 at 14:40

My plan is to have Witts or Sandi at R2 in the hope they will make money but I have given myself some room to move by having Ryder as a DPP in the fwd line and Cameron as a DPP in the rucks. Effectively if need be I could switch the two around so that Ryder becomes R2, WItts/Sandi R3 and Cameron F8.

Simpson, Laird, Mills, KK, Vickers-Willis, Stewart (?, ?)
Danger, Hanners, Pendles, Rocky, Fyfe, Swallow, Bowes, Powell-Pepper (?,?,?)
Gawn, Sandi, Strongdicka
Dahl, Lynch, Greene, Caddy, Black, Pickett (Smith,?)

At this stage I'm going all in on the Sandi man, even if he's a giant marshmallow.

Depending on how rookies lineup round one, there's a chance I go four deep in defence with a possible punt on Hrovat. The mid premos haven't changed for a few weeks.

    good team though. great defense.

      HaloumiMan · 23/02/2017 at 15:42

Cheers for feedback Derek, Gray historically a strong starter so don't wanna miss those early points, Wingard value and could be harder to trade into later if he gets on a roll (he's due for his up year but still feels like my biggest gamble even at reduced price), many sides will have Ryder and will be in the same Port/round 9 bye boat to an extent, Swallow also will be heavily owned and hopefully upgraded by start of round 9.

PDPODs (Proven Durable Points of Difference) the key for me this year, premos may have lower averages but higher total points over the season with fewer sideways injury trades getting me to full premo quicker. Guys like Sandi and Rough aren't really PODs so wouldn't expect to fall too far behind the pack if they go down.

        Derek · 23/02/2017 at 16:27

Port start the season with Syd, Freo, Crows, GWS. Robbie & Chad will have to be at the top of their games to score well..

          HaloumiMan · 23/02/2017 at 20:13

Both love a big occasion and a clutch goal. 2-3 winnable games there. Gray's lowest score against Crows last year was 129. He also came home strong coinciding with Wines improving his defensive game and protecting the ball carrier. Could be a big year for Port midfield with Ryder back also. Got that feeling about it.

Dukes · 23/02/2017 at 14:17

Peoples thoughts on starting gawn with both ryder and nank. Then upgrading one of ryder/nank during the season to the 2nd best ruck this will ensure you have the best 2 rucks in sc and the best rf in sc for backup

    Derek · 23/02/2017 at 14:22

why do you need both. Ryder at R2 will work

      INPieman · 23/02/2017 at 14:40

      Not a bad option Dukes

    Jib_Jib · 23/02/2017 at 15:34

No reason it couldn't work but with the news coming out of Freo re Sandi I think you're just better off with Ryder F3/4 and Sandi R2 and a rookie ruck/fwd at R3. Then just upgrade Sandi and keep Ryder for F6/ruck backup.

      Northernsoul74 · 23/02/2017 at 15:44

Not convinced on J Kelly in defence – I think your defence looks a bit thin. Coniglio a very good player but I think you're paying top dollar and Cripps has a back injury

      Dan · 23/02/2017 at 15:29

Yeah look im not 100% on Kelly either. I will cop the thin defence in exchange for the bolstered mids though. Cripps' back will be fine, will have a look at him this weekend though

      neil Demons Delight · 23/02/2017 at 18:15

not so with me marc I think Kelly is a great pod ave 90 will be in top 8 def and also def except long is quite good mid is full of pods and fwd line tops /a great team Dan well done

    Jib_Jib · 23/02/2017 at 15:16

    – Shallow defence.
    – B.Long suspended for the first few weeks.
    – Pops Kelly is long in the tooth and will prob drop points with the return of the Essendon players.
    – Lot's and lots of premo midfield risk.
    – Too many PODs.

    – Forward line.
    – Genuinely different team.

      Dan · 23/02/2017 at 15:31

Cheers for your reply mate, thinking the same with Kelly. The only real risk i see in the midfield is Rocky and maybe Crippa. Will have a look at both throughout the JLT but im convinced Rocky is going to have a fantastic year

        Jib_Jib · 23/02/2017 at 15:40

Fyfe and Swallow both returning from long term injuries. Cripps had an injury interrupted preseason, Rocky will always be an injury risk. That's 4/8 starting mids. They might all be totally fine, but risk is risk.

          Dan · 23/02/2017 at 15:59

Swallow can ead if he shows any glimpse of not being 100%, Cripps is too valuable and Bolts is too smart to play him prematurely so i dont think they would if he wasnt ready. More or less same with Fyfe. Rocky is a gamble but looks to be in top form. Thats my thinking anyway, thanks for your input mate

            Derek · 23/02/2017 at 16:32

yeah my main concerns out of that group are Bob, Sandi and McCarthy

    HoleyFrijoles · 23/02/2017 at 17:05

Bob makes the least sense out of those. Surely not going to be at keeper level scoring (85-90 at best?), and still near $400k. Better off with KK/Mills/Hartlett around that price.

This post is a bit masochistic, because I know what everyone is going to say, but please comment anyway. I know I am thin in defense, but I feel like the rookies there are the best value this year, and it allows me to go set and forget rucks plus a deep midfield.

    Keenbutclueless · 23/02/2017 at 17:26

Love the 2 defender structure. Only criticism is that your second defender is a mid price, not a premo. Don't mind you batting 5 deep in the forwards either, just that it possibly should be 3 premos, 2 mid pricers not the other way round.
Assuming your mid pricers are keepers, you have 15.
At least 6 missing round 11. If your mystery mid pricer is Billings, then 7 missing. 6 is way too many
So….where to find the cash, and fix the bye imbalance? I think Rocky and Bont are the two to look at. Rocky because he is injury prone and Bont is not necessarily guaranteed top 10 mid. Consider Titchell in there.
Your main cash drain is Goldy. Interrupted pre season. Carrying an injury. Daw into the side. I really think you can leave him out. Down to a Grundy gives you some cash. Then of course there's always Sandi….
Bowes down to a cheaper rookie.

      Snowsky · 23/02/2017 at 22:22

Mate that is a very astute analysis as I was also concerned about the round 11 bye issue and Goldy's fitness. Much to consider…

Derek · 23/02/2017 at 16:47

Ive had Adams locked in my Defense most of the pre-season, mainly because he is a genuine midfielder with defense status. However the more i look at him the more i worry about his durability. last year my season was stuffed by injuries to premiums and i've been trying to avoid that happening again.

I'm also worried about how much of the score he will get with Pendlebury, Treloar, Wells, Sidebottom, Crips, DeGoey all in the guts as well.

    John · 23/02/2017 at 16:54

Whats your team look like now Derek?

      Derek · 24/02/2017 at 00:11

Team hasn't changed too much. Still have Mills at D3. Sticking with 6 ultra premos in guts but have put Swalllow at M7. Although swapped Priddis to TMitch, like the Hawks draw and no NicNat is a worry for Priddis.

Have used my Sandi cash reserve to get the expensive rookies. Team has McGrath at D4 plus rookies, but got McCluggage, Knight and Hoskin-Elliott at F4, F5 & F6. Just not seeing cheap rookies who I can have on field. Still have Davis/Menapoo nightmares.

        Derek · 24/02/2017 at 00:16

Adams, Laird, Mills, McGrath, Vickers, Newman (Ryan, Stewart)

Dangerfield, Hanners, Treloar, Selwood, Fyfe, TMitch, Swallow, SPP (Cousins, Bolton, Pickett)

        Gawn, Sandi

Dalhaus, McCrea, Cyril Rioli, Hoskin-Elliott, McCluggage, Knight (Eddy, Smith)

          Youngster · 24/02/2017 at 07:36

Hanners over JPK? Now that is a surprise πŸ˜‰

            Derek · 24/02/2017 at 09:05

I know, I do love JPK, but so does everyone else this year, so Hanners a slight POD.

I think Hanners is slightly better value, he had a few games on the wing last year that affected his average by a couple of points.

Main reason is I can see Hanners benefitting more from TMitch leaving. Not only will he not play on the wing he will be asked to get more contested ball this year. JPK can't get anymore than he currently does, it's what he already does.

JPK seems to start slow, although numbers don't really show that. I believe that as the season get going and the grounds get wetter and the wind picks up, JPK is in his element. Early season grounds are hard, sun is out and players are running, that is more Hanners world.

I have a spot reserved for him and Pendles.

    Williams · 23/02/2017 at 17:41

I agree but I can't see a better option, I was thinking maybe Williams for 480k Could break out.

    But hard to pass Adams.

    Liam · 23/02/2017 at 17:45

Will play mids over Crisp and De Goey.
Lock for 100 plus easy imo.

    HaloumiMan · 23/02/2017 at 20:23

My advice on Adams is start without him and see how he goes – he's not gonna punish you putting up back to back 130s. Worst case he gets up to 105 average and you can pick him off later for not that much of a price hike.

    Jib_Jib · 23/02/2017 at 22:20

Depends how much other risk you're carrying in your team I suppose. I have him. Overall I'm starting very risk free but he's in my team. His full preseason helps.

      Derek · 23/02/2017 at 22:25

Good point. Pretty safe. Will keep him for now. Thanks

        Shake n back · 24/02/2017 at 09:59

Love the H Elliott selection priced a little tricky but l think if you can fit him in he won't let you down. Watched a bit of the pies this pre season and he's really up and running. Hell play on the wing drifting fwd great mark should kick a few aswell just has to stay fit!

          Derek · 24/02/2017 at 10:46

there is actually a bit of value at that $210k price (even hrovat at $300k is pretty good)

this year i'm not going to have cheap Davis/Menapoo type rookies on the field, it was bad enough having them come off the bench last year to fill in for injures, but to start them is going to be tears.

These $200k players won't get the massive cash increase but it should still be ok, but they will give us 75-80+ scores.

Hoskin could become a number of other players, but for now he is there.

HoleyFrijoles · 23/02/2017 at 16:59

Not all midpricers are created equal. A quick glance at my side, and you would say "7 midpricers – too many", but as I said, not all are created equal:

4 are returning premiums for their position (Beams, Sandilands, Ryder & Roughead)
2 are returning stepping stones that are at least 30 points underpriced (Beams, Swallow)
1 (and only 1) is being selected as a breakout contender (Heeney)

Should some magical mystery rookie midfielders come out of the woodworks in the next 4 weeks, I would consider turning OMeara / Swallow into an Uber premium + another rookie, but until then, they don't exist.

Also – this is a POD free team (of which strategy I'm liking more and more this preseason), with the most 16 popular non-rookie choices being in the team + Beams.

It is an injury prone team, but if only 2-3 get injured, and not at the same time, well – that's what correction trades are for. Trying to limit to 4 as to avoid too many, you are still likely to get 1-2 injured AND you'll miss out on one or two that went well for the far lower price.

    HaloumiMan · 23/02/2017 at 20:34

You'd wanna be pretty certain that the three on-field defensive rookies will cement their spots in the team. In my experience it's the position where rookies float in and out of seniors sides the most. Selectors show little mercy to young players in a position requiring discipline, communication and adherence to structure. Have burnt many a trade over the years swapping defensive rookies just to get 22 on field. Spare yourself the heartache, run with 2 on-field defensive rookies max.

    Matt · 23/02/2017 at 21:11

I like it, I have a very similar team and see a strong cash generating team with a lot of potential, still somewhat risky, no ESS players for you which lessens the risk.

Not going easy, that is a very solid set-up. Was working out how you fitted that in the cap! N1! I don't like the swallow pick (or sselwood for that matter)….but given the strength of the other spots in the team, I think its justified. All the best. Oh, this is mine for what its worth…happy for your thoughts…similar structure

He is very durable and has only missed 4 games in the last 5 years.
And in the last 3 years he has averaged 112, 113 and 109.
Why is no one picking him?

    Keenbutclueless · 23/02/2017 at 19:23

I'm a bit of a self-confessed SuperCoach noob (played for the first time last year and learned the hard way!), but worth getting a few opinions/bits of advice on my current squad.

BACKS: Johannisen, Rampe, M Williams, McGrath, Logue, Scharenberg [Berry, Vickers-Willis]
MIDS: Dangerfield (c), Bontempelli, T Mitchell, Heppell, Caddy, Ellis-Yolmen, Hrovat, McCluggage [Powell-Pepper, Myers, C Brown]
RUCKS: Gawn (vc), Grundy [Witts]
FORWARDS: Dahlhaus, Greene, Heeney, Silvagni, Hoskin-Elliott, McCarthy [Bowes, Bolton]

    Northerner · 24/02/2017 at 00:07

You have a lot of midpricers and expensive rookies. Mid pricers work if: 1) they break out and become cheap keepers or 2) can give you 80s in defence as defence is the lowest scoring zone. Otherwise they waste trades and lack the same cash generation that cheap rookies deliver for upgrading your team.

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 08:39

Where you can, have your DPP players like Caddy McCluggage and Hrovat in the forward line. There is always more quality and choice in the mids.

Keep your eye out for cheap rookies to replace the expensive ones. There are few this year, rookies are only there to make you cash (need to get team value to $13mil by round 13). Having cheaper rookies will make cash quicker plus leave money left over to get a uber premium.

I think you need one more premium in the guts

Have a look st the other teams posted here, similar in structure. Don't worry about them looking the same, we are not like the average mug supercoachers

Elmeano · 23/02/2017 at 23:01

DEF : Docherty , Shaw , Laird , Scharenberg , Vickers-Willis , Newman ( Ryan , Stewart )

Mid : Danger , Pendles , Selwood , Treloar , Sloane , Fyfe , SPP , Barrett ( Miles , Freeman , Graham )

Ruck : Gawn , Sandyman , ( Strnadica )

Fwd : Dahlhaus , Macrae , Ryder , Hoskin-Elliot , Pickett , Cameron ( Smith , Eddy )

125k bank ( left from not knowing who to replace for Myers )

Northerner · 23/02/2017 at 23:27

Adams, Mills, Z Jones, Hampton, Vickers-Willis, Stewart, Ryan, Miles

Danger, JPK, Treloar, Bont, Fyfe, TMitch, D Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Bolton,Poholke, Junker

Gawn, Grundy, Strnadica

Dahl, Macrae, Caddy, Heeney, Pickett, Miles, CAMERON, Eddy

Going 2 loophole rookies this year from the start with O Junker – great name for a rookie loophole!!

Weak in defence, but had Jones on my post season watchlist last year and he looks the goods as a point scoring defender at value. I saw better certainty in FWDs so allocated spend there over defence. Also, seems better list of defence rookies with JS this year.

    Northerner · 23/02/2017 at 23:28

Smith instead of Miles on D bench

Tet · 24/02/2017 at 05:29

(DEF) Adams, Laird, Mills, Sch'berg, VW, Newman (Ryan, Stewart)
(MID) Danger, JPK, Merrett, Treloar, Sloane, Fyfe, Swallow, PP (Hibberd, Freeman, Graham)
(RUC) Gawn, Grundy (Sctrnadica)
(FWD) Dahl, Ryder, Roughead, Hoskin-Elliot, Mcbags, Black (Daicos, Eddy)

With $41k left in the chest Im kind of satisfied with the team so far yet Im not sure where to go from here. I am a little concerned with Grundy, HE, Scharenberg, Sloane and Ryder and their ability to preform

Thank you in advance for the help

    Luskin Star · 24/02/2017 at 08:00

Grundy is fine. From avaiable rucks he finished top 4 and natural improvement should see him as a lockable r2.dont like your other doubtfuls.

Jager v Beams · 24/02/2017 at 07:31

What is the communities thoughts on the d beams vs Jager debate?. If both were picked rd 1 would u go JOM to bank the 100k + and spend elsewhere or back Beams in to return to the 110+ avg of prior full years. Currently these 2 are fighting it out for my m6 position. With Swallow as my d7.

    Jager v Beams · 24/02/2017 at 07:32

    Apologies swallow m7. Typo

      Luskin Star · 24/02/2017 at 07:41

I have all 3 subject to seeing a jlt performance that suggests to me that they arent gun shy after the long layoff. Jom and swallow have already ticked that box. Hoping Beams will in lions next game. The upside is too great to be ignored. Forced to pick between them id go Beams cos he has top 8 runs on the board.

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:20

Beams everyday, O'Meara hasn't played a proper AFL game in 2 years. Beams should average 100 at least

    UncleSwaggy · 27/02/2017 at 17:36

Id go JOM, both should average 90 plus and both probably will end up being traded traded out of your team due to missed weeks or not quite premo status

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 19:11

Both great options, but if Beams doesn't have at least one JLT game then no way.

JOM had 81% TOG against a pretty strong North outfit. 90 SC points, significant.

Luskin Star · 24/02/2017 at 07:49

Adams, T–Mac, Thumper rookie rookie rookie rookie rookie
Zerrett, treloar ricky cripps fyfe beams jom swallow rookie rookie rookie
Gawn sandi doughnut
Macrae miller beams roughy rookie rookie rookie rookie

For me at the prices its danger or gawn and there are more alternatives to danger than gawn. Cognitive bias may have gotten the better of me with thumper and billings.

    Luskin Star · 24/02/2017 at 07:50

Should be billings at f3 not beams

Fantasy_Wannabe · 24/02/2017 at 08:32

My Team 3.0 – Thoughts on how to improve please:

DEF – Adams, Shaw, JJ, Thurlow, Hampton, Scharenberg (J.Smith & L. Ryan)
MID – Danger, Rocky, Fyfe, Pendles, O'Meara, S.Selwood, Swallow, SPP (M.Hibbard & J.Pickett)
RUCK – Martin, Nankervis (O.McInerrney & D.Cameron)
FWD – Dahlhaus, Caddy, Touk Miller, Roughy, McClugga, K.Lovell (E. Himmel & A.Black)

This round I've dropped Witts and M.Murphy

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 09:09

    Is this a Fantasy team?

      Fantasy_Wannabe · 24/02/2017 at 18:49

Haha. Did my name I give it away?

Shouldn't selections still be as relevant?

      Up the Jock!

James · 24/02/2017 at 09:32

Backs: Shaw, Adams, Hibberd, Murphy, McGrath, Ryan (Newman, Otten)

Mid: Dangerfield, Fyfe, Prestia, Beams, Murphy, O'Meara, Swallow, M. White (Powell-Pepper, Hibberd, Bolton)

Ruck: Gawn, Sandilands (Cameron)

Fwd: Rooey, Dahlhaus, Macrae, Roughy, McCluggage, Black (Balic, Eddy)

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:25

An interesting strategy there James. 4 midfield midpricers would be a concern. All 4 played a combined 12 out of 88 games in 2016, 41 out of 88 in 2015. If you were looking into a midpriced team it looks good.

Laird Lad Donuts · 24/02/2017 at 09:38

Thoughts on my team so far community
DEF- Doc, Simmo, Adams, Vickers-Willis, Guthrie, FWatson
MID- Danger, Pendles, Gaz, JPK, Trealor, Rocky, Coniglio, Fyfe
RUCK- Ryder, Sandi
FWD- Dahl, Roughy, Black, Pickett, Miles, Daicos

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 19:12

    Where's Laird?

There's no chance all those rookies on field are going to get consistent games, let alone round one.

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:30

That is one robust midfield Doc. Nice team all round just think about what you are going to use Ryder for later in the season, a R3/F7, a keeper, a cash generator? Can't see him becoming a keeper.

      Whats up Doc? · 24/02/2017 at 23:48

Thanks Danners, I'm hoping that ryder can average 85-90+ and make a little bit of money to allow me to upgrade to a gawn or goldy when their price has slightly decreased, any thoughts about the rest of the team?

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:34

Solid DanC. Don't get sucked into the preseason hype with Tuohy, O'Meara, Hoskin-Elliott and co. Do your research, most of the stars in there respective teams weren't playing in those games. If you feel they will go well though, go right ahead. Kelly looks like an alright POD. Watch his other JLT games though

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 19:14

So many 200-400k players, could be in for a bumpy ride.

Derek · 24/02/2017 at 10:48

    Northerner · 24/02/2017 at 11:20

    Nice analysis Derek

      Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:27

Talk is that hanners is super fit this year (off the beer). Parker has had an interupted pre-season

Don't know what JPK having the captains job will do?

    Danners · 24/02/2017 at 20:35

Will be considering both Derek. had Hanners early on, but thinking of going with a sneaky POD with J.Selwood

      Derek · 24/02/2017 at 21:29

      JSeleood locked into my team.

Derek · 24/02/2017 at 10:59

Clarke (Freo) has been ruled out until the second half of the year.

Griffin will clearly be the second Ruckman (backup for Sandi), however he is coming back from injury and i doubt that freo would have him solo ruck if Sandi gets injured.

Apparently big Darcy $117k (RUC only) has been looking awesome at training and has been named for JLT this weekend (ahead of Strnadica).

Makes Darcy as another option at R3 if going to start with Sandi, but without DPP he become useless once Sandi is traded out.

DanC · 24/02/2017 at 12:06

DEF: Adams, Laird, Tuohy, Hibberd, Marchbank, Hampton, (Ryan, Stewart)

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:40

You know what thoughts will be……you have three mid priced options that can't all become premiums you will be lucky if one does. You basically ruin your season having a line like that and having to fix it.

bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 12:12

Not totally decided here, playing around with a few lineups. Got one here that is a bit risky, going hard in the middle, but the more I look at it the more I like it. Some big question marks there but….would love some feedback.

Can I get some comments on the current line up, been far to busy with the little one and building crap around the house to be up on all the goss at this stage.

Docherty, Adams, Laird, Scharenberg, Vickers, Newman – Ryan, Stewart

Danger, Pendles, Trealor, Bont, Fyfe, JOM, Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Wigg, Hibberd, Freeman

Gawn, Sandiballs, Strnadica

Dahlhaus, Macrae, Heeney, Roughy, McClugg, Black, Miles, Eddy…

Only one I'm really itching to get in is Rocky.

Bench D Cameron.

Forward line J Caddy, J Riewoldt, I Heeney, T Miller, J Roughead, T Phillips.

Bench A Black, B Eddy.

got 107k left I'll see how this team goes

    bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 13:26

A lot to like here and if it comes off you're going to kick some tail.
Don't think R.Murphy has the upside you're looking for, taking into account his age I think there are better options out there. Z.Jones for example.
Key forwards are also a big risk, I'd look for a mid here as there is better scoring potential and flick Riewoldt.

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 19:16

Let me guess you make multiple teams……….sigh.

Doc · 24/02/2017 at 12:40

Def: Shaw, Adams, Mills, Keefe, Vickers-Willis, Newman (STewart, z.guthrie)

Mid: Danger, hanners, jelwood, Rockliff, Bont, Fyfe, o'meara, swallow (Powell-pepper, Bolton, graham).

Rucks: Gawn, sandi (strandica)

Fwd: Dahlhaus, macrae, Heeney, florentine, black, Pickett (eddy, d.cameron).

Rooks subject to change.

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:34

looks good. I personally wouldn't go both JOM and Swallow. Rookies will determine your final team

Pendles · 24/02/2017 at 12:49

Thoughts on going with Pendles instead of danger.
I have had a look and I think pendles price won't change to much by his bye.
But dangers price at 716k can easily come down to under pendles price of 645k by his bye.
Or is it to risk not to start with danger?

    John · 24/02/2017 at 13:15

Go for it mate back yourself in

    bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 14:19

Why choose between them? Get them both.

AuroraBorealis?! · 24/02/2017 at 13:08

My team is looking very similar to everybody elses, might need to add some POD's to the line-up:

DEF: S.Docherty, T.Adams, R.Laird, M.Scharenberg, J.Berry, E.Vickers-Willis (L.Ryan, T.Stewart)

MID: P.Dangerfield, S.Pendlebury, J.Kennedy, M.Bontempelli, N.Fyfe, T.Mitchell, S.Powell-Pepper, J.Pickett (M.Hibberd, J.Allison, S.Bolton)

RUCK: M.Gawn, A.Sandilands (L.Strnadica)

FWD: L.Dahlhaus, J.Macrae, P.Ryder, J.Roughead, J.Gallucci, A.Black (T.Smith, B.Eddy)

5k in the bank

If Sandilands is looking poor in pre-season i could downgrade Ryder to a rookie and upgrade Sandi to Grundy, but that remains to be seen. Rookies are subject to change.

    John · 24/02/2017 at 13:17

I would get rid of Ryder ASAP he won't average 80 IMHO

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:35

don't worry about your team looking like everyone else. Remember we are not mug supercoachers, we are the elite. you want your team to look like ours πŸ˜‰

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:38

    Copy and pasted. haha

John · 24/02/2017 at 13:13

I can't believe so many people have Ryder in their teams he won't average 80 IMHO

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:36

i didn't watch last night, but i did see Lobbe got a game. how did he look?

      AuroraBorealis?! · 24/02/2017 at 17:06

      not again derek

    Holty · 24/02/2017 at 22:53

Hi john. Why do you feel he wont average 80?

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:37

He'll probably average about 85 playing forward and sharing ruck with Lobbe. You should be glad so many people have him.

Harley · 24/02/2017 at 13:15

Who do we think is the better lower to mid price defender option this year out of KK-Zac Jones or Thurlow?

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:38

cross Thurlow off, not sure he is in the cats best 22 yet.

i like KK out of the other two, mainly because the Sun's defense will see plenty of the ball.

    bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 14:30

Agree with Derek but prefer Jones as it looks like he will get midfield rotations which will see him with more of the ball.
And he uses the ball very well by foot.

    AuroraBorealis?! · 24/02/2017 at 17:14

KK burnt me hard last year, so personally i've sworn off him

    UncleSwaggy · 25/02/2017 at 23:27

KK, but i wouldnt touch any with a 10 foot pole

Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:17

OldOcker got me thinking about how the scoring changes have affected players and in particular their scores in the past.

There has been plenty of talk about the HO to advantage scoring 5 points and a normal HO = Zero and how that has affected the rucks.

I was more interested in looking at how the scaling of points towards "match winning" goals in the past affected scores, particularly the Key Forwards. Since 2014, the scoring system has been adjusted to not scale players scores as much as it used to be for matching winning efforts. i remember Andre Everitt came on as a sub and kicked a winning goal against the cats and scored 86SC.

I ran calculations on a sample of Key Position Forwards, Small Forwards and Defenders (for comparison). The best i could do was to look at the Starting price – Ending price (easy to find numbers – even though there are other factors that would affect the price). but it was a start.

The results are significant.

For Key Forwards the average price change during the year for 2011 – 2014 was: -3.8%, however for 2015 & 2016 it was -14.8%.

Small forwards was similar, -2.9% compared to -9.7%

Defenders was only: -1.2% to -2.8%.

obviously there are many other factors that will affect the price of a player, but to give a general year to year comparison it's a start.

What does this mean?

Firstly, people need to be aware of this when comparing Forwards scores in the past to determine their future scoring potential. Roughie averaged 102, 103, 99 during 2011 – 2013, but fell to 95 & 96 in 2014 & 2015. This drop may have been because of the scoring method, not his form. So when you look at a player who has been around for a few years and scored pretty good a few years ago, it may have been affected by the scaling.

Secondly, understand that a player won't be able to save his crap score with a winning goal (what would Cyril have scored against the swans last year from outside 50!! i was there, right behind his kick – sweet points in days gone by). There still is some scaling that happens, and i did see some evidence of it is 2015 (that affected starting prices), it doesn't seem to be the factor it once was.

Thirdly, Forward's are better priced this year, only 3 are over $520k compared to 9 defenders over $520k and shouldn't suffer the dramatic price drop of the last two years. Although KPP will always be the feast & famine. Also the Buffalo Bounce will still be happening. I think the forward line is much better priced this year.

Just my thoughts……

    bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 13:33

Nice work there and you make some very valid points.
Not a fan of key forwards in supercoach, although they may win you a match, it's just not often enough. The only ones that seem to have consistency are the ones with the freedom to roam down the ground like St Nick.

    hedski · 24/02/2017 at 16:15

Don't forget 5 points for a mark on a lead this year too.

Big G · 24/02/2017 at 13:37

Taking out the round 9 bye factor – do the community prefer Gray or Priddis? JPK or Hanners (see Derek's comments above)

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 13:43

Higgo's man Redden will be dominating the clearances this year, leave Priddis with nothing πŸ˜‰

    bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 14:25

Love Priddis and had him last season but he's getting a bit long in the tooth now so Gray for me there.
JPK is as good as he's going to get (which is awesome) new role as captain, so I'd go Hanners, awesome preseason, off the beer and Mitchell leaving will benefit his game I think.

      Big G · 24/02/2017 at 14:39

Ok, I am leaning towards Hanners and I think he is a better player to watch (I love picking players to concentrate on them during the game), but I am influenced by last year's grand final when JPK was awesome?

bruderboy · 24/02/2017 at 14:23

Not totally decided here, playing around with a few lineups. Got one here that is a bit risky, going hard in the middle, but the more I look at it the more I like it. I know 3 mid pricers in the midfield is risky but I think Beams and Murphy are more fallen premos than mid pricers. Some big question marks there but….would love some feedback.

Back: Docherty, Shaw, Burgoyne, Z.Jones, Sharenberg, Vickers-Willis (Ryan, Stewart)
Mid: Danger, Pendles, Hanners, Fyfe, D.Beams, Murphy, Swallow, SPP (Picket, Miles, Jarman)
Ruck: Gawn/ Sandi (Cameron)
Fwd: Dahl, Heeney, Ryder, Roughy, Black, Eddy (T.Smith, Daicos)

    UncleSwaggy · 25/02/2017 at 23:22

I think zak jones is a trap, id downgrade him to hampton and use the money to switch murph or beams to more of a sure thing

      bruderboy · 27/02/2017 at 08:45

I hear you there, been playing around with the structures a bit. swapped Shaw and Burgoyne to Laird and Adams (not sold on Adams durability yet). Also need to stash some cash in case Sandilands doesn't pan out. Could be they're managing an older player at the moment, but….could also be he's not right. I think we all want him to come out with 100 scores but it could be living in yesteryear as well.

Damian · 24/02/2017 at 14:46

Thoughts on Watson and Murphy well price fallen premiums that will have no trouble averaging 100+ haven't seen them mentioned in many teams,in my mind they are to good pass up

    Josh · 24/02/2017 at 17:49

Watson looks sharp he wants to prove and show that the Brownlow medal is his by trying to win another one. Murphy I just don't know look don't get me wrong his price will go up a little but he has been a fallen premo for the last three years but if he makes you money and trade him before his bye round but Murphys not for me

first time I have seen scully in any team. serious POD – are you related?

SuperCoach · 24/02/2017 at 16:46

I have Ryder R2 and nankervis F5,
I am hoping to upgrade nankervis and someone like black into a goldy a bit before bye rounds when he is cheaper,
Should I do this or go with goldy now and go with someone like mcclugage or a rookie in forward line and have goldy to start of with.

    UncleSwaggy · 25/02/2017 at 23:20

i think your better off just starting goldy now, could save yourself a hassle if nank stains the pants

James · 24/02/2017 at 17:12

I'm hoping to leave this team alone till at least the end of JLT 3.

Def: Shaw, Adams, Laird, Hampton, Vickers-Wills, Stewart (Newman, Ryan)

Mid: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, JPK, Fyfe, M Murphy, D Swallow, McCluggage, SPP (Balic, Hibberd, Bolten)

Rucks: Gawn, Nankervis (Cameron)

Hampton has the upper hand right now but it has been a limited sample size.
Also Hampton does have more experience in the big time which works in his favour

hedski · 24/02/2017 at 19:30

V.5ish Tried to minimize mid pricer risk, can't see all the rooks coming up though (few place holders and haven't worried about swingsets much)

Doc Laird Tuohy (Stewart)
V.Dub Newman Ryan (J.Smith)

Danger PARKER Treloar (Pickett)
Rocky Fyfe M.Crouching1 (Miles)
Swallow SPP (Bolton)

Gawn Stef (SDicka)

JJK Dahl Caddy (T.Smith)
Cobbler Black Cameron (Eddy)

$53.7k left.
Still heaps of risk and likely won't go in like this but its where team is atm.
Lots of wriggle room/iterations.
I stuck Parker in, been set on Hannas , but could be any of swans 3.
Smash it apart..

    Derek · 24/02/2017 at 21:34

Parker is a fraction cheaper but I didn't think he had a full pre season so I crossed him off.

      hedski · 24/02/2017 at 21:56

      I don't think he cares.
He'll come out like a maniac.
Could be JPK or Hannas as stated.

Mayniac · 24/02/2017 at 21:10

What do you think everyone?

Gone deep in the Mids
Gone boyd as backup ruck
Very much mid price madness on the back line

Tuohy Mills Vlastuin Hibberd (melb)
Vickers-Willis Stewart (Hibberd nm) (Ryan)

Danger Hanners Treloar Sloane
Fyfe JOM Swallow PPS
(Bowes Gulluci Miles)

Gawn Sandi (Strnadica)

Dahlhaus Caddy Higgins
Roughie Boyd Black

Smith Eddy

    hedski · 24/02/2017 at 22:04

Toby Nanks is looking good for that ruck/fwd swing after tonight.
Pretty skinny deep mids, JOM risky as Tom Cruise.
Sloanes face is made of peanut brittle.

    Randomcliche2 · 25/02/2017 at 03:32

Have a look at what a mid priced backline can do for you….kk et al last season….never again

      UncleSwaggy · 25/02/2017 at 23:18

agree, that backline is way too mid price, if 2 or less dont hit youll be in a massive hole early

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:33

I'm just going to be brutal. The team is trash.

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 19:18

Only because of the backline and cookie cutting*

MID: Danger, Pendles, Rocky, Cripps, Fyfe, T,Mitchell, D Swallow, Powell-Pep (Miles, Hibberd, Bolton)

RUCK: Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)

FWD: Dahl, Heeney, Ryder, Roughy, McBags, J Pickett (T Smith, B Eddy)

Had Priddis in for ages, but not sure on what impact no Nic Nat and the arrival of Mitchell.S will have on his output.

Had A Black in the Fwd line but swapped in out of McBags…Dunno about that either.

Never done particular well but would appreciate any feedback from the community.

    Randomcliche2 · 25/02/2017 at 03:30

Cripps, heeney, swallow…def not running them myself…. but not particularly risky pics

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:32

I'd pick Black over Mcluggage any day cos of price, don't like 200k rookies.

I see Tuohy being picked a lot, and don't understand it. Is he going to be a top 10-ish defender? Doubt it.

    Sharenberg atm….nope.

Forwardline is risky imo even though Ryder and Roughy are proven.

looks pretty good, once concern is how much money do you have left? ive noticed a lot of your bench rookes are in that 117 to 102k range. you may want a little bit extra in the bank if you need to get a couple more expensive ones come season start

      Blaknight · 26/02/2017 at 20:17

      $74k remaining

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:28

      Blaknight · 27/02/2017 at 19:40

What do you mean by that?

NoLanguage · 24/02/2017 at 22:40

Hey community, great to be back! Thoughts on my team at this stage would be great obviously a lot of water to go under the bridge.

B – Doc, Adams, Laird, Berry, Vickers, Stewart (Ryan, Long)
M – Danger, Hanners, Rocky, Gray, Fyfe, Murphy, Swallow, SPP (Hibberd, Bolton, Graham)
R – Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
F – Dahl, Billings, Rough, Nankervis, Hrovat, Black (Smith, Eddy)

Went large in the mids and light in the forwards due to lack of obv mid rooks and a lack of Dusty type options up FWD.

    Randomcliche2 · 25/02/2017 at 03:25

Similar structure to mine mate with a few different cattle. Howing you are onto a winning structure!

      Cheers mate here's hoping

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:27

Rocky, Murphy, Swallow are all injury risks. Not saying to drop one of them but combined with Sandi, Billings, Nanker and Hrovat there are so many risks of injury/stagnating mid pricers that your team could be shot by round 7-8.

    hedski · 25/02/2017 at 09:20

    derek · 25/02/2017 at 13:59

you would have to say that Zac had a breakout year in 2016.

It was the very first season (i think he has played 11 seasons), where his ending price was higher than his year starting price….significant.

although i don't see Zac getting much midfield time now that Fyfe is back.

Low on mid price risks I only see two in Swallow and Heeney and they are pretty smart choices I reckon.

FWD: Riewoldt, L.Franklin, T.Lynch, J.Roughead, Will Hoskin-Elliot, T.Smith, (B.Eddy, J.Daicos)

Some thoughts on a few of my more unique selections.

Z. TUOHY – Durability and DE a big plus. Has played 22 season games every year since 2012!! Really like the look of his bloke at Geelong. Was recruited to play a SC Friendly role with a sizeable hole in Geelong's Backline. Played very well against a Hawthorn Fwd line so can definitely play. Expecting his ownership to soar with a few more games.

PRIDDIS – Fact-Check! Has averaged +110 for 6 out of last 7 seasons with a low SD, missing only 4 games in the last 6 years also. Reckon he can have a "2016 Selwood" start to the year with Mitchell coming in to WCE. Recently had Fyfe in this position but get this – Fyfe has only averaged more than 110 twice in his whole career (124, 122), and to add has NEVER played more than 21 games a season. Just can't Trust him to have a full season without an injury affected average. Is he really as valuable as we think given the many other captain worthy options we have available? Just Trying to minimize chance of getting burned (which happened frequently last year). Fyfe could very well get injured the week you put him Captain!!

SELWOOD – same bracket has Priddis really. Can't understand the low %selection. Geelong have a favorable early draw and could very well start the year off strong again (He does have his best mate taking the no 1 tag as well remember).

M.CROUCH – Jock Reynolds Fantasy Footy Magazine. Nuf said haha. 26 touches, 5 tackles. from JLT is also keeping me interested.

FRANKLIN – strategic 'risk selection' over Dahlhaus (who everyone owns and I am expecting to have similar scores with). Seriously low %selection given his very likely scoring output (+90 to +95 average). Found some consistency last season which I like (but not fully expecting). Better to bank the early points early rather than look to upgrade to him when he has his typical mid-season stinkers (which he will inevitable have being a KPF).

    Derek · 25/02/2017 at 17:24

Priddis – no NicNat, SMitch in team, too many unknowns

MCrouch – ball magnet but can't kick. Great for DT, not SuperCoach.

Franklin – missed most of pre season, get him cheaper.

    Selwood – lock

Fyfe – lock. Should be $675k.

      Krups · 26/02/2017 at 10:11

      Priddis will be fine
      Crouch – Still unsure
Franklin – Not yet wait till after byes
      Selwood – Lock
      Fyfe – Lock

WithAllDue Respect · 25/02/2017 at 17:19

I'm currently running with the strategy of Risk V Reward……

H.Shaw, R. Laird, Z.Touhy, M, Scharenberg or (C.Hampton), A.Otten, E.Vickers-Willis (NEWMAN, STEWART)

P.Dangerfield, S.Pendlebury, G.Ablett, N.Fyfe, D.Beams, M.Murphy, J.O'Meara, D.Swallow (BERRY, SPP, WIGG)

M.Gawn, A.Sandilands (STRNADICA)

L.Daulhaus, C.Wingard, I.Heeney, J.Roughead, A.Black, T.Miles (CAMERON/EDDY)

    Harley · 26/02/2017 at 15:45

That midfield has way to much risk factor even though you said that it's just to much imo. Ablett, fyfe, omeara, swallow, beams, Murphy all injury prone and high risk of missing games. I'd at least be changing Murphy and beams. Ablett pick up after round 9 bye if he fit and playing well. I like the idea of Omeara and swallow at this stage as omeara is cheap and is looking extremely good and will most likely average over 100 when fit.

      Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:14

      Agree with your points.

    Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:16

So many risks in the midfield, then you Wingard and Heeney up forward, plus Sandi in ruck. A couple of these fail you're stuffed.

If Wingard and Heeney go well for example you might make 50-100K and a keeper from them. If not you're stuck with a mid price player or a wasted trade or two per player to fix that position. (one to make money to upgrade them, one to trade them out)

Personally I'd keep one of Heeney or Wingard and honestly I'd drop Wingard like a sack of spuds.

      Burnmen · 27/02/2017 at 13:43

And this is assuming Roughy is a keeper too, which I am convinced of, he is a great player and his seasons before the year off a super consistent.

6.3K left. may down adams to JJ to free up a little cash if needed

Personally not a fan of that many mid pricers, but I can understand why fallen premiums are getting so many people excited.

Abalone Sheen · 01/03/2017 at 00:26

Hey guys, know it's a bit late to post my team but would love some feedback!
Current team is;
Def: H.Shaw, T.Adams, R.Laird, C.Hampton, E.Vickers-Willis, N.Newman (L.Ryan, T.Stewart)
Mid: P.Dangerfield, J.Kennedy, A.Treloar, N.Fyfe, M.Murphy, J.O'Meara, D.Swallow, S.Powell-Pepper (T.Miles, H.Wigg, M.Hibberd)
Ruck: M.Gawn, T.Goldstein (L.Strnadica)
Fwd: L.Dahlhaus, J.Macrae, I.Heeney, J.Roughead, A.Black, J.Pickett (S.Bolton, B.Eddy)

Still tossing up between Murphy and Beams. Also not sold on having both JOM and Swallow in the same team.

    Russ in W.A · 04/03/2017 at 00:07

Solid team Brent, similar to mine, maybe consider beams over Murphy I reckon. He seems to be over his injuries.
Liking the set and forget Premo rucks.

Sully321 · 01/03/2017 at 12:14

Def: Doc, adams, laird, hampton, EVW, newman (Ryan, Stewart)

Mid: Danger, Pendles, JPK, Sloane, Fyfe, Swallow, SPP, Wigg (miles, hibberd, Graham)

Ruck: Gawn, Grundy (strnadica)

Fwd: Dahlhaus, Macrae, heeney, roughead, Galluci, Black (Pickett, Eddy)

$50k in the bank not sold on a lot of the rookies but pretty happy with premos and mid pricers. One query that i have is who to go with out of Sloane, Bont or Cripps. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Russ in W.A · 04/03/2017 at 00:05

Bont …will rip it up this year.

    Russ in W.A · 03/03/2017 at 23:44

I would get rid of McGrath for Tom Stewart and Hoskin Elliot for a rookie and upgrade Touk Miller to a proven gun in the Fwd line..maybe Roughy? Bolton probably won't play either.

Jack · 03/03/2017 at 18:32

DEF: Shaw, Laird, Johannisen, Scharenberg, Vickers-Willis, T.Stewart (N.Newman, L.Ryan)
MID: Danger, Pendle, Selwood, Bonts, Fyfe, Swallow, SPP, Picket (T.Miles, M.Hibberd, S.Bolton)

$71,600 remaining.

    Blaknight · 04/03/2017 at 11:42

Not 100% on Martin yet, but Sandi and Goldstein scare me. They too risky or is Martin a higher risk? With Archie Smith now supporting Martin in the ruck a higher chance that Martin could be playing a bit more forward or on the wing too.

Ive also removed J.Barret to make room for T.Miles but not 100% on that. I liked the way Barret played on Thursday

David · 04/03/2017 at 16:46

DEF: Shaw, Rance, Adams, Hampton, Vickers-Willis, Ryan (Guthrie, Stewart)

Would love some feedback on this, especially the deep midfield/ no ruck cover situation

Brian · 07/03/2017 at 03:28

This is my first year doing this, so I could be all over the shop but doing this purely on reading the web and without any AFL knowledge of note, this is mine:

Defence: Adams, Hartlett, Bob Murphy, Weitering, Marchbank, Hampton (Vickers-Willis, L Ryan)

Midfield: Fyfe. Pendlebury, Shiel, Hempell, Beams, Macrae, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Petrevski, McCluggage, J. Bartlett)

Ruck: Goldstien, Sandilands (Cameron)

Forwards: Franklin, Heeney, Roughead, Nankervis, Steele, McCarthy (Black, Eddy)

Let me know if I'm way off the mark here. I can't stop changing things round, its quite addictive.

Scott · 07/03/2017 at 23:26
