There is a hell of a lot of it out there this weekend. The carnage is savage. It is widespread. It has touched us all.

It’s been a good weekend for John Rossi – he snatched the weekly CoachKings $1000 in the last contest of the weekend!

John Rossi takes it out

How are you coping with this injury onslaught folks?

  1. jezzahill says:

Looks like a Deledio to Z. Merrett trade coming up this week. Can't trust Deledio's body anymore.

    • Kev says:

Read on the afl site this morning that they'll likely put him on ice until 2017 with the playing the kids now a priority.

  2. Choppy says:

    Par score?

  3. Grahame Lebroy says:

Wish I went Zac instead of Lids last week….Ah well. Geez of gone against my gut instinct in favour of some safe 'logically' decisions at times this year and its cost me. Lessons learnt for years ahead I guess.
1460 from 13 players so far, some big tons needed today

    • pod says:

Lids is a star, unfortunately he's unsound like a top class racehorse with bad tendons. With his class, he could win a brownlow if he could stay on the park for a full season.

      • Grahame Lebroy says:

Think his best days r behind him now. Too injury prone to be relevant for SC these days. His best is elite but you don't get consistently enough

  4. Tommo09 says:

    Absolutely shocking
Bad scores: Barlow (injured), Neale, Buddy, Hannebery, Austin, Wells, Goldy, Collins, JJ, Hall
Good scores: Parker, Danger, Martin (C), Pendles
    8 premos left
    Hoping and praying for 2200

  5. pod says:

1757, 17 played including Danger as C. I thank the SC Gods for Selwood, Lynch, Zach & Dusty, as without them I would be doomed. And on this day of Gods, may Zorko, Doch, Joey, Heater, & Gaff be blessed and go forth. Amen.

  6. He Man says:

How long do they reckon Lids is out for?

  7. bUCKET__ says:

Thinking that Lids for Buddy is on the cards next…

    • SCaddict says:

For those with a healthy piggy bank Dusty and Zerrett look the go to options. But those strapped for cash will need to look at the Buddys, JJKs, Montys and NRoos etc. Perhaps Dahl may be back next week too listed as 1-2 weeks on last week's injury list??

      • bUCKET__ says:

I've got Dusty Zerrett Zorko Montags & Hall. Dahl is another option I'm thinking about

  8. poloko48 says:

1546 from 15, Simmo, Williams, Ward, Priddis, Gawn, Zorks, Heater to come. Proj 2290, but with all the carnage this round I'll be happy to get 2200+. What does everyone think par will be this week?

  9. hedski says:

1614 with danger cap have doch simmo priddis gawn joey zorko shaw and ward to come.
Happy with gaz to the bont but barlow is gonna hurt.

  10. CapTkAos says:

I've always tried to play with the "stick by your premos" theory, but barlow and wells look to have finally torched my arse. Will probably bring in merrett next week for barlow. Dahl will get really cheap really fast when he comes back. But I'm not sure I have the kohones left to run with yet another premo returning from injury. Lessons learnt for next year…….
    1. There is only room for one ross lyons player. Fyfe.
    2. When a player with a long history of injuries gets another one, straight out.

    • Clarky99 says:

I think you should add Neale to the list too. Definitely good enough to bring in next year, other than that, you;re right.
I also held Wells, if i had more than 4 trades left, i would have gotten rid of him a few weeks ago. His previous scoring was too attractive to get rid of.
Barlow to Zerrett is a good trade if Barlow is out for more than 1.

    • Southern S says:

Fyfe barely reliable enough to pick either.

    • Southern S says:

What I mean is Neale is probably a wiser pick over Fyfe.

  11. Clarky99 says:

1594/15 with Buddy as Captain (Thought Swans game was going to start at 7:40 instead of 7:25….)
To rub salt into the wounds, my VC choice scored 135 🙁
Very happy with taking JPK over Neale this week
Hoping for 2200-2300 with Simmo, S Martin, Joey, Ward, Greene, Z Williams and Shaw left.
Am i aiming for around par this week?

  12. I N Pieman says:

Oh dear lord the pain. Savage. That is all

  13. reff says:

times they are a changing , with proven fantasy pigs Gaz , Lids , Rocky & co , finding it harder to stay on the park , its time to start looking @ the new breed of oinkers such as Lynch , Docherty , Neale & the like to carry the burden of our fantasy teams from next year ..

    • I N Pieman says:

Yep. I think the lesson from this season is if a bloke hasn't had a full preseason then don't pick him

      • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

100% also over 30's require more in depth selection rather than automatic picks as body not as reliable.

  14. SCaddict says:

Currently tracking towards 2400+ according to the projections – not that they're worth the paper they're written on ha ha.

But countless times have I headed into a Sunday in pretty decent shape only for it all to unravel in the final 3 games. So I'll just be happy enough to get through the next 8 hours with no major injuries.

    • pod says:

Nice score in horrible round, do you have Bartel/Laird?

      • SCaddict says:

Have Laird so praying like everyone else that he's back next week.

Started the season with Jimmy but traded him to Jelwood back in Rd3 or 4. I was actually one of his few proponents in the preseason as many seemed to think he was old and washed up but I lost patience early. Was somewhat ruing that decision for much of the season but it's worked out ok lately.

        • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

Its funny i was a bit the same when went Barlow – parker rd 3-4.
Never regretted it but barlow posted some huge scores while parker was just ok
Now with barlow getting dropped and injured during the season looks like i may have pulled the right reign.

    • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

Same addict but going on what we've seen this weekend so far there r sure to be at least one curly on to come out of left field.

      • Derek says:

I have both Laird and Bartel.

Collins and Joyce scored around 130 between them, not hopeless. But Brodie stepped up to the plate for me, was going to get rid of him last week but Ablett saved him.

        Even Wingard did good.

My two poor scores are Delidio and Blicavs.

        On track for 2300+

    • hedski says:

Same addict I'm playing you in true believers league. You have 6 points on me and it comes down to your kedge and rocky versus my doch and ward.
Will be very tight good luck.

      • SCaddict says:

I reckon you've got me hedski. Can't see Kedge achieving his projection given his recent form. Also believe Ward is overdue for a huge game. Giants will be all riled up after last week's humiliation and should take out their frustrations on the lowly Lions.

Almost traded in Ward this week but thought I'd go Titch instead for the hell of it ha ha.

Alas RIP True Believers league. I doubt I'll be recreating that league next season as I reckon the Gaz era is officially over! 🙁

        • SCaddict says:

Looks like I was wrong on Kedge. Happy for the change in menu to the 60s he'd been dishing up the past month. 🙂

  15. Harry says:

Have to admit I was wrong on Zerrett. Even worse since I'm a Dons man!!!! History shows young players drop off towards the end but clearly Zerrett and Bont are freaks and exceptions to the rule. Instead I chose Zaha thinking the experienced player will step up, and now he's playing as well as a rotten potato

    • pod says:

Looking to next year, how do you see Zach fitting into the midfield, or not.. imo, the Bombers have a new superstar!! If you're a betting man, back the Bombers to go all the way.

      • SCaddict says:

It's hard to see how he won't be a great performer next season. With that tremendous running power and ability to find and use the footy he should be a premium scorer wherever he plays or whomever he plays with. A young player who's only going to get better you'd think.

Hopefully he keeps that FWD/MID DPP status though.

        • I N Pieman says:

Think he's played too much in the guts to keep his DPP SCA

          • SCaddict says:

Yep probably clucthing at straws there. Maybe tricky to squeeze him into our opening midfields as a pure MID.

Beamer, Fyfe, O'Meara, A.Swallow, Bennell should be cheap as chips next season assuming they are all up and about in the NAB. Not sure how they'll price Jobe and HepD with a year out of the game too.

            • I N Pieman says:

Some tantelising prospects next season SCA. But can't pick to many blokes from off LTI

              • SCaddict says:

If Beamer is $500K again (like 2014), Fyfe sub $550K, Bennell $300K and Swallow and O'Meara around $200K a pop it will be mightily hard to pass on this quality if they are all flying in the NAB.

If they aren't flying well that's a different story obviously and caution should apply. I certainly won't hold you to this declaration if I see I N Pieman loading up with these guys next season in the ole Higginator. 🙂

                • I N Pieman says:

Those numbers would be super tough to knock back SCA. Omeara at 200k. Where do I sign!

                  • SCaddict says:

Potentially even cheaper than that if he doesn't play at all this season. Was $316K this season and obviously hasn't played a senior game yet so should be rookie priced if it stays that way.

            • Harry says:

              You meant D Swallow right?

        • pod says:

I saw a game from 2014 recently, he showed his potential then. The Bombers are licking their lips, early draft pick, the signing of most senior players, and Zach. 2017 looks good.

      • Harry says:

He has to be stable in the mids now. Depends on whether Jobe comes back but I would say a starting midfield of Jobe, Heppell and Zerrett is pretty strong with Zaha, Goddard, Stanton, Parish, Myers, Bird, and whoever our high draft pick is rotating through there. The mids look strong. We need to keep Hurley though as losing him and Hibberd would hurt.

Zerrett should be a genuine superstar IMO. He and Heppell will carry the team for the next few years.

  16. Derek says:

Not sure what I was thinking yesterday. Had VC on Dusty vs Essendon, for some reason thought I'd be clever and put it on Delidio in case dusty got tagged. Oh well. Going to C Gawn.

    • Shake n bake says:

I'm thinking Gawn should be good for 100+ so you should be ok!

      • Col says:

Haven't saints been pretty good at limiting opposition ruck SC points?

        • pod says:

Looks like a good call Col. Gawn about 15 points first quarter.. needs to lift.

    • SCaddict says:

It could be a nervous watch on the Gawnster as C. Hopefully he doesn't have one of his few stinkers and tons up at the very least.

  17. Saalih says:

1367 from 13 played with danger as captain. Didn't have balls to put dusty as captain but was tempted. Have had many players flop like Neale, hanners, rance, deledio and wells. I have docherty, Simpson, montagna, jack steven, zorko, zac williams, ward, shaw and gawn left so I hope I can maybe crack 2400 but will probably get 2250 knowing my luck.

I have 176k in bank and full premo team but no decent bench cover. Problem is only have 3 trades left and will probably have to trade deledio to merret. I would only have 2 trades and around 120-130k. Not sure whether to trade Gresham to motlop and use him for dpp Cover and then upgrade Ruggles soon to a defender at around 420k.

My bench players are Ruggles, Collins, Gresham, trengove, stewart, grimley, rose and philips.

    • Col says:

If Deledio is gone, obvious needs replacement. I'd be keeping your final 2 trades for injury replacements only, otherwise you might end up with premo players on your bench in the finals – hard to win finals when you have $1,000,000s sitting broken on your bench (speaking from experience)

      • Saalih says:

Yeah I don't have merret so he is the obvious replacement. I guess I'll just have to hold what I've got and pray for the best.

  18. andy_89 says:

Ward, Shaw or Steven for the C today? Had the VC on Danger but need huge score (170+) to win my league match-up

    • Saalih says:

I would probably go shaw against Brisbane but never know who mitch Robinson will go on. Jack steven is always a threat and ward isn't in great for and rarely goes big. So I would say shaw just ahead of steven.

  19. Derek says:

One of my big mistakes this year was not getting either of Simpson or Docherty. Just kept thinking they couldn't keep it up. This is after having Simpson all last year.

They are both 70+ at half time.

    • I N Pieman says:

Same problem here Derek. I've been in denial

    • Neverweaken says:

Think of what they will cost next year. I've had Docherty since the start. But hate paying massive dollars for a defender.

      • Boltons Blue says:

if they are pumping 110s+ all year, they could be 600k and id pay it

        • pod says:

Doch smack bang on his b/e.. that will hurt those who were hoping to get him this week.

      • SCaddict says:

We should get some huge discounts on midfield guns like Fyfe, Beams, Bennell, O'Meara, Swallow and perhaps even Watson and HepD etc.

This should allow us to spend more of the cap on our backline although paying $1.2M for say Shaw and Doc will still feel steep.

    • Southern S says:

Has been fantastic having three premos defenders that are set and forget this year.

  20. Bells E Bubb says:

Priddis – Has not touched it in the last. Goose.

  21. Neverweaken says:

What happened to Kennedy. 2 goals but a whole 39 points for the game!!

  22. Boltons BLues says:

I was thinking pre Carlton game to taking Dunkleys 99 and putting Crippa on the pine, at HT i was kicking myself, but what a massive 2nd half from him, 23 at HT, solid 80 point 2nd half

  23. tuxCS says:

Just realized that i have 9 players who've scored under 85, pretty abysmal considering that 7 of those players are premiums. (two were my bench cover for Laird and Bartel.

  24. Derek says:

need Gawn and Jody to score 218 to win my main league

    • Don't Blush Baby says:

Joey Montagna ? and Rocky to go 227 for my money league

    • SCaddict says:

Which league is this? Not sure how you figure that equation with Big Maxy as C.

Better 2nd qtr but still with plenty of work to do to finish with his 117 projection.

Joey had a nice first half and hopefully on track to ton up.

  25. Tommo09 says:

    2150 below par community?

    • Derek says:

Might be off the pace. I'm headed for 2300 but looking like only winning 4/10 leagues

    • SCaddict says:

Fraid so Tommo especially with popular defenders Simmo and Doc going large in the last game as well as Kedge tonning up.

I'm now on track for around 2450 but will still probably lose to hedski in one of my leagues.

A lot of coaches will probably score in the 2200-2300 range if not higher.

      • Derek says:

I'm against Dexter in a league. He is looking at a score 2500+

        • SCaddict says:

Hedski is having a monster too as Ward is obliterating the Lions as expected. Was a bargain buy sub $500K last week.

    • Southern S says:

      That's fairly low I'm looking at 2350 with scores of 64, 58, 67, 61, 68 and another 67 included.

I'd expect some big scores this week if people dodged some of those premos scoring poorly.

      • Boltons BLues says:

nearly the same, 2300 with Rance (67) Lids (67) Collins (58) Neale (76) Wells (61) Hall (78) and Sheil and Shaw not in the 80 odd region

  26. tuxCS says:

Because im so strapped for cash and i have to trade Deledio out, im strongly considering Jeremy Howe. Only 3.8 percent ownership, and whilst it may just be the collingwood fan in me talking, he's looking bloody good playing as a rebounding defender

    • Clarky99 says:

As a pies man myself, i really like the look of him. He is really thriving in the role he is playing. Although Collingwood's draw gets very tough, but there are 2 ways to look at it. Either the fact that the ball may be down there a lot means he has opportunity to score well, or that there will be so much pressure that he may not use the ball effectively. Whichever one you think is true is whether you should go with him or not 🙂

  27. Boltons BLues says:

If Shaw and Shiel rock up in the 2nd half, i could get 2300 this week which would be nice

  28. Saalih says:

Par this week? I'd say around 2300 but hard to tell.

  29. SCaddict says:

Yeah a piece of p1$$ in the end. Well done!

  30. Neverweaken says:

Gonna just come in under 2400. Not bad with Wells, Rance and Kennedy. Kennedy is the one that hurts. And having Ruggles on the bench for Rance. Think Ruggles might be my D6 after this.

    • Top hawk says:

That's not too bad. I reckon anything above 2350 will be above par. Lids and Barlow were my liabilities this round, but I did hit the jackpot with dusty as VC this round. Grabbed his score faster than blowflies are attracted to sh-it. Hopefully will nudge 2450 this week.

  31. Tommo09 says:

Lots of bad scores but a good day today

  32. SCaddict says:

    Finished with 2524.

But congrats to hedski aka DangrsDanglBerries who killed it with 2568. Prepare to soar up the rankings buddy!

    • Top hawk says:

Massive score by Hedski! Been trolling through all my leagues and that is the biggest score that I have seen by some margin. Awesome stuff.

    • Nifty says:

Well done Addict, you touched me up in Low Expectations & to Dangrs for touching me up in League of Losers.. Great scores guys..

    • hedski says:

Cheers sc was tight game was hoping for 2400 this morning so stoked with score. Best for year maybe a PB actually.
Think you'll be goin up too.
Am @ 5k now, aim is top 1k and leagues.
Barlow will hurt me though, Zerret seems like a no brainer if he's gone.
      Woo hoo (click/skol)

  33. Saalih says:

2395 and ranked 333. Will I go up in ranks?

    • smart as s says:

no way, 2500 par for top 500

      • Ben says:

        2500 will not be top 500 par…

      • Saalih says:

Doubt that. Many people in top 500 have laird bartel rance hannebery deledio wells Barlow Neale etc. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I fell a little bit but I'm hoping to maybe go into low 300s or maybe if I'm super lucky into the 200s

      • Top hawk says:

That is BS mate. I reckon that at least 5 of the top 10 coaches would not have cracked 2500 this round.

    • Top hawk says:

No Saalih. You will likely slip slightly with that score. Nothing to loose sleep over as it is still a very solid result. Good luck for the last 6 rounds. Definately still in the hunt for the glittering prize.

    • Derek says:

Good work. Hold your place I think

  34. Beezneez says:

Finished with 2489 – my highest score since my 2413 in round 3. Will take me below the 1000 ranking again (previously 220 in early rounds). Tossed up between Hanners, Neale, Sloane, Bontempelli and Ward for Ablett. Unfortunately went for Hanners.

  35. Swans2012 says:

2265 with a laird donut, can't complain considering lids rich etc….. Rich becomes d7 this week thank god…happy with Ablett to ward… Points and cash, tick tick

  36. Shake n bake says:

Lucky I played you last week Hedski! I got 2437 ranked 370 so not sure if I'll go up at all in the ranks? I was stubborn & didn't trade out Libba & started Davis who got 78. Still 8 trades so hope to still make inroads!!

    • pod says:

With 8 trades you'll give it a shake, Libba will be good M9

      • Shake n bake says:

Was very close of doing Libba to Cripps but with Davis getting 78 I just kept his score & saved my trade. Would have made an extra 24 pts. And love Carltons last 4 game.

    • hedski says:

Ha ha. Story of my year shaker, you can never win the matchup you need that week.
Did Gaz to The Bont so was happy there. Lost Barlow 🙁

  37. poloko48 says:

2341 and pretty happy with that considering some of my premos off colour:

    Top 5 scores:
    Dusty 152
    Ward 143
    Danger 140
    Zerrett 138
    Gawn 124

    Bottom 5 scores:
    Brand 48
    Collins 58
    Wells 61
    Lids 67
    Hanners 68

Anyone know how long Lids is out for? If long term thinking Lids OUT, swing Zerrett to FWD, bring in Pendles.
It's my last trade so need to make it count so playing it safe.
Good move? Or hold onto Lids if only 1-2 weeks out?

    • Clarky99 says:

If you only have 1 trade left, you can't trade him. You will almost certainly need that trade in the coming weeks. If you want to take that risk, Pendles is a good option although that DPP swing could be valuable.

      • poloko48 says:

DPP covered, I will have Phillips & Petracca in MID & Zerrett, Dusty, Zorks, Hall, Wells in FWD if I do the trade.
I think I'm screwed anyway as there will be more carnage no doubt, so I may as well use it and grab as many points while I can.

My other idea is maybe getting Lycett so I have a FWD/RUC swing again with King in case one of either Goldy or Gawn go down.
Only problem with that is if NicNat comes back will his output decrease?
Leaning towards Pendles for consistency, ultra premium output and no injuries (touch wood).

        • Dean says:

oh shit you got wells also. Just burn the trade and get Pendles because either way your are screwed AND I mean SCREWED.

  38. Matt says:

Managed a 2337 but kicking myself that I was unexpectedly out all day Saturday and forgot to take Danger's score as VC and ended up missing almost 100 pts because my C Goldy spudded up.

    • Shake n bake says:

      U only lost 47pts!

      • Matt says:

        Nope, Goldy as C = 186 pts, Danger as C = 280 pts

        • SCaddict says:

It may seem like that but SnB is actually right … only cost you a net difference of 47pts.

          2 X Danger 280 plus Goldy 93 = 373 vs 2 X Goldy 186 plus Danger 140 = 326

          i.e. diff = 47pts

          • Choppy says:

A lot of people seem to trip up on the understanding of that. I had to draw my mate a friggen diagram to illustrate it!

  39. Derek says:

I played against Madcats, managed a 1pt win. But he had Zac Dawson on field. I salute you Madcats.

    • Top hawk says:

I love 1 point wins! hehehehe. Madcats will be a mad hatter tonight for playing Zac the sack of scheit.

    • Shake n bake says:

Won 9 out my 10 leagues the 1 I lost the team I played had the highest I had 2 highest. Oh well.

    • pod says:

I'm thinking having Zac is the madness, Derek you have to give Madcats scheit

  40. Hubba says:

Keays was loophole … bl00dy leppitsch… lucky i scraped through a win. But it had cost me nearly 200 pts and vital percentage in my prime league … anyone else get caught out ?

  41. TRIGGER HAPPY says:

    Finished just over 2400.
How Sheil can have 35 possies and only score 94 is perplexing.
Pretty happy had hannas, lids, wells and laird so collins.
So 4 60's and 2400 yep will take that,.
    Nice score hedski.

    • Shake n bake says:

      & at 74% with a goal!

      • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

I thought he may have had a heap of clangers but only had 1?
No marks is about all i can see that he didn't do.
        6 inside 50's
        Cant work that one out.

    • hedski says:

Thanks trigger Barlow on track for another 50 points and I mighta cracked 2600!
      That's just greedy.

    • Southern S says:

Any ineffective disposal is worth zero.

Not to be confused with a clanger that is minus 4 points.

A kick to a contest under 40 metres is also worth zero.

    • Moustachio says:

Handballs, uncontested possies a factor too

    • Leeds17 says:

Unfortunately when the game was still somewhat on the line he was off with a ankle knock, I reckon a lot of his best possessions were deemed junk time.

I've noticed a couple guys like Sheil, Gray, T Mitchell, ect do get hurt by not being long kicks that under 40M to a contest kick can really kill them.

  42. Hubba says:

Maybe not 200…actually 100.. but still annoying

  43. In the Nick of Time says:

2346 with a Laird donut – reasonable score for a fortnight full of carnage (Ablett, Wells, Dahl, LIbba, Bartel etc)? Looking just to maintain a place within the top 10,000 after my first season of SC.

  44. johnno2908 says:

How many trades will everyone have left after this week. Surely Deledio and Barlow are gone?

  45. Davonaise says:

No trades left after this week 🙂 hit a lot of land mines this season

    • poloko48 says:

With you shortly Davonaise, 1 left which I will prob use to go Lids-Pendles via DPP with Zerrett going fwd.

  46. johnno2908 says:

A guy in one of my leagues ranked 250th overall has ablett on the bench. Hoping the same thing has happened to a few of the blokes at the top

    • SCaddict says:

Yeah we will start seeing shipwrecked sides in our leagues now. Those who kept trades will soon fly up the rankings as injuries to popular promos transpire and will overtake all those teams who traded their @rses off CrouchingTiger style.

I'm down to just one trade myself. 🙁

    • Derek says:

I have 5 left but not much good when I'm 10,000+

      • johnno2908 says:

I have 6 left and ranked 30th overall. Decided to keep rich to conserve the trade, but relatively crap week scoring 2425. Now over 400 points off the lead and hoping. Deledio got to go this week

  47. Rivo says:

Happy to sneak home on 2378 with Laird's donut and somehow win all my leagues. At last some respite from a horrible few weeks.

  48. Southern S says:

Docherty moves into no.1 defender position. Closely followed by Shaw

    • SCaddict says:

Well deserved. He's been rock solid all season.

By time I cottoned on he was out of my price range without compromising my team elsewhere. I do have him in my RDT and AFL Fantasy sides though so I guess 2/3 comps ain't that bad.

  49. The Ranger says:

2330 which I'm trying to be happy about.
Those with more than six trades should be licking their lips…

  50. johnny_z says:

Biggest mistake made this year was trying to pick PODs. Most over rated thing I reckon. Although no disasters if I went with what "everyone had" would've been much better off.

Still ranked about 100 but pretty much over for my team…

    • Dean says:

ranked 100 overall is far from over mate unless you have Lids & Barlow with no trades, then your screwed.

    • Moustachio says:

If you had pods and everyone's players got injured/missed/spudded… Then your players would be okay. That is the whole point of a pod, it's a gamble that can let you ride up.

PS lids was never gonna be a pod)

    • johnny_z says:

600 points off the leader makes things hard dean, with 6 rounds to go, very tough. Have Lids, laird and Bartel hurt me this week. Got 6 trades but hard to catch leaders now. Everyone's team is very similar

      • Ben says:

Have some faith johnny. I've jumped up around 50 places within the top 100 this week and would kill for 6 trades. It can be done

  51. hedski says:

    31st for the week.
    Woo hoo.
    5k up to 2900.
    1 trade after Barlow.
    Woo hoo.

  52. Neverweaken says:

Nice. 2386 moved me up a thousand spots to 8700. First year of taking supercoach seriously. Unfortunately only have one trade left.
Have lots of bench cover for every position except ruck. Have Hampson (Ruck/Fwd). Have 3 options.
    1. Live dangerously and trade out Libba for Merrett as another Mid/Fwd
    2. Bring in a Ruck/Forward like Lycett for cover
    3. Keep my trade for some disaster.
3rd option is logical. Gut says option 1. Go hard or go home.
Please talk me out of it 🙂

    • Juzzy says:

Yeah, I would hold your remaining trade.
I am lucky enough to be 790ish but only have 4 trades. I am about 7-800 points off the leaders and am starting to think about league wins.
I desperately want to trade Rich but I have Laird, Goldy, Rocky, Wells etc.. etc …
      Someone's gonna get injured.
Then again, if you are confident in your bench players, and it makes you wake up with a smile on your face why not go balls and all..

    • poloko48 says:

Option 1 mate – with you all the way. I'm using my last trade and going Lids to Pendles with Zerrett DPP MID to FWD.
      Final team:

DEF: Heater, Simmo, Pittard, Bartel, Williams, Laird (Collins, Brand)
MID: Danger, Pendles, Jelwood, Hanners, Parker, Ward, Bont, Priddis (Trac, Trengove, Phillips)
      RUC: Gawn, Goldy (King)
FWD: Dusty, Zerrett, Zorks, Buddy, Hall, Wells (Rose, Silvagni)

As you said, go hard or go home!

    • Dean says:

Option 1 Go hard or go home. With just the one trade left your almost certainly screwed either way, bring in merritt and at least you can say you made top 5000 in a few rounds before finishing around top 30 to 40k.

  53. Ben says:

    Lids to who?

Already have Martin, Zmerett, zorko, Montagna and Franklin

    Is dahlhaus far off?

    • Juzzy says:

You could be the guy who jumps on Greene or Hall at the perfect time.
I reckon Nick Roo is a smokey as well. Might have a sniff of finals now.
      Good Luck.

    • Dean says:

yeah mate he is at least 2 weeks off going by Bevo and you want dahlhaus to play a couple anyway so his price drops another $100k
Dahlhaus will be great to get in 4 weeks time once his price reaches $400k or less

    • Derek says:

Drat. $6k short to go Delidio to ZMerret

  54. bUCKET__ says:

Got my best score so far this year… but mostly happy that my D7 swingman Brodie Smith did his bloody job for once. To a tee, Mr Smith!

  55. tuxCS says:

Welp, horrible round from myself, finishing on 2256. Had both Bartel and Laird sitting on the bench, meaning i had to play Collins and *shivers* L.Austin on the field. Lots of premiums letting me down this week, mainly Rance, Deledio, Wells, Hall, Neale, and Hannebery.

    Top 5 Scorers:
    Dangerfield (C): 280
    Docherty: 138
    Zerret: 138
    Selwood: 128
    Gawn: 124

Bottom 5 Scorers (not including the rookies i had to field):
    Wells: 61
    Deledio: 67
    Rance: 67
    Hannebery: 68
    Neale: 76

Dont have any cash left, so I'm either going to trade in Howe and pray, or trade in Dahlhaus and cover him with Cox/Menadue/Phillips and pray that he comes back soon. Either way im praying here. Surprisingly only lost about 700 ranks and am still inside 3000 (2954), hopefully i bounce back next week.

I only just realized that this is my first season of supercoach that ive taken completely seriously, ive never actually studied the rookies in the pre-season, and i've never stayed committed week in week out for the entirety of the year. I now fully understand the advantage of holding trades late into the season, because its then that you make up the ground on the rankings. My logic was that it'd always be better to get full premium as quickly as possible, and that it was a good idea to trade aggressively early in order to make that happen. I've been proven wrong and i will be coming into next year with a different mindset, hopefully I'll do better.

    • SCaddict says:

It always seems obvious late in the season that we should've kept more trades than we actually did.

But in the hurly burly of a season it's much tougher to maintain that discipline. So next season you'll probably make some trades early in the season that seemed justified at the time but when you look back you wonder where all your trades went.

Of course there will always be some fortunate few coaches who more or less nail their starting team, pick most of the must have premos, midpricers and rookies, and avoid many of the early injuries, burnmen and other calamaties. In that situation it's relatively easy to conserve trades.

But for most of us we'll have some early challenges. Long term injuries obviously require trades but how about those 3-4 weekers? Do you just take the hit and hold, particularly with a premo that may also be underperforming like say Rocky or Gray and potentially cost you 2 or 3 close league losses along the way??

Then there's the burnmen. For me I started with Stef Martin rather than Gawn. How long do you hold with your season potentially going down the toilet? I eventually gave up after 7 or 8 rounds after continual hits to my ranking and league performances. Not only did it cost a trade but about an extra $150K to go Stef to Gawn which is about the value of an additional trade to cash out a cashcow. But others chose to hold even longer than that and continued to lose another 50pts a week at that one position and even more cash to rectify.

Eventually Stef turned it around and Leppa dropped West but who could be sure that would ever happen? So this is the uncertainty we face each season.

Alternatively you can choose to be disciplined to the hilt and hold guys come hell or high water like Derek did for much of the season. Sure he maintain a healthy surplus of trades but his ranking and league standings went to buggery. He held on to Lobbe for as long as humanly possibly, held The Chad, never had Hall etc. And whilst he now has trades and will probably surge up the rankings I'm guessing (but could be wrong) but won't have any finals to play in except for his weakest leagues.

So it never is as straight forward as it seems looking back in my experience playing this great game.

      • tuxCS says:

Thanks for the really detailed and well thought out response Addict, I guess that neither way of going about it is fully correct, and its about having the perfect mix of the two. Trading aggressively when necessary and holding onto players at the right time. I guess you just learn to balance it better with the more experience you gain.

        • johnno2908 says:

My philiosophy was to go hard during byes and have no heart with cash cows/mid pricers. Got rid of libba and kerridge when they had their byes. Used 9 trades through that period to try and get to full premo.
I think the best advise is even if a player looks like good value that week, ask yourself if he is going to be in your final team come end of year(except downgrades to make cash of course). Yes there are the odd occassion these trades work out, but far too often they dont and it ends up costing you 2 to 3 trades to get the player you really want.

      • TRIGGER HAPPY says:

        Bang on addict.
This season like the last two injuries have had a major impact so luck in.this department goes a long way to having a successful season

In no particular order LTI – fyfe, crouch (took a gamble to start him didn't pay off), Murphy, rocky, nic nat, houli, JJ, abs. Now lids. Add that lot up and there is half your trades on injuries. This forced me to hold gray and wingard, Adams etc while injured which impacts your score.

This meant prior to the byes I was outside the 8 in most of leagues. Had a $3M bench there for a couple of weeks. So made choice to trade hard so at least I could play finals.

Happy with team now but too far back so just gunning to climb the league ladder.
Been top 5000 weekly rank last two weeks so gotta keep pushing.
I figure if u r out of the 8 and no chance of the main prize what is the point of having trades?
Going down swinging have 4 left. 3 after lids trade.

    • Clarky99 says:

Exactly the same as me mate! My first season i have actually taken completely serious and i've loved it! I was told the aim is to get to full premo first, so i have traded very aggressively, and now only left with 4 trades. I thought that if i didn't trade, i would go down in rankings and wouldn't be able to come back from it.

  56. Garry says:

Do i get in Jack Reiwolt or Luke Dalhouse

  57. Steeeve says:

Going Lids to Zerrett and S Collins to Kade Simpson. Bang bang.
Playing for leagues now but screw PODs. If somebody wants to beat me they can get the PODs and take the risk.

Full premo except I need a good m9/f7. Will wait a week then pounce on Joey. Or if Dahl comes back I might wait for him.

  58. Simmo_mate says:

Just as I thought my team was sh*t hot, I have lids, laird, bartel and still have libba. Any idea on how long these blokes might miss?
