I see the Wil Mathews debacle has come to an end! As I mentioned 6 weeks back he is irrelevant in SC and real NRL. I was mocked for this after he jagged 2 tries and lucked his way to scores of 64 and 63. He then produced his usual scores….44, 33, a whopping 15 and a 22. Averaging a whopping 32.9 points for those that fell into this constant trap.

The Matthews situation is an interesting one and I can definitely see both sides. Matthews' performance only died down because he didn't keep his starting spot come round 11. He still made $100k in 4 rounds and had the added bonus of being a round 12 number so it was disappointing to see him lose his starting spot because his potential was much higher. The smart move would have been to trade him out after round 12 when we realized he wasn't going to make any more money or serve a purpose. I feel sorry for those who still had him for the 15 and 22 scores, but to be fair we needed to bite the bullet when he maxed out from the positional change.
