The Rookie Scout: Round 8

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Barron Von CrowGoodbye, farewell and amen.

That’s what we’ll be saying to a bunch of players over the coming weeks as we look to boost our sides to full premo status through the bye rounds.

We’ve been with some of these rookies for 7 weeks now and some of them have served us well, but it’s now time to give some of them a Donald Trump-esque “You’re fired” and move them on from their current positions.

It’s a cutthroat business this fantasy football caper, but this won’t be the end for these kids. Guys like Callum Mills, Clayton Oiver, Darcy Parish and Marcus Adams, these guys may be gone from our sides soon this year, but I guarantee you that we will be picking them again in the future.

Callum Mills

SC Price: $335,900 | AF Price: $314,000 | CoachKings Price: $6,600
Featured CoachKings Contest: Saturday, Richmond VS Sydney
Round 7 Stats: 16 disposals, 4 marks, 2 inside 50’s, 36 SCPoints, 46 AFPoints, 33 CKPoints

Just the $200 price rise for Mills and now with a projected BE of 94, this may be the week we look to upgrade/downgrade Mills. He had the 16 disposals, which was about his season average, but didn’t do a lot with it and also had 5 clangers. Might be a bit iffy in CoachKings at his current price.

Clayton Oliver

SC Price: $294,900 | AF Price: $309,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,800
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Melbourne VS Western Bulldogs
Round 7 Stats: 23 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 2 inside 50’s, 4 clearances, 83 SCPoints, 77 AFPoints, 80 CKPoints

Oliver had a couple of weeks off and it seems to have not had any real impact on him. He was quiet in the Round 4 game against Collingwood, so it looks like the break was good for him. His BE is 51, so if you held on to him, it looks like he still has several more weeks left. He’s a big ‘ol padlock for CoachKings on Sunday, capable of a big score and still at a decent price.

Christian Petracca

SC Price: $123,900 | AF Price: $262,000 | CoachKings Price: $4,500
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Melbourne VS Western Bulldogs
Round 7 Stats: 24 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 4 inside 50’s, 2 goals 86 SCPoints, 86 AFPoints, 127 CKPoints

On the bubble this week and has a BE of -75, easy guess says he’ll be the most traded in player this week and makes an absolutely perfect downgrade option if you’re looking to move out Callum Mills. Nice timing for us in fantasy football! Get him in in CoachKings as well, pair him up with Clayton Oliver and you’ll save yourself big dollars to pick other high price players.

Josh Smith

SC Price: $171,500 | AF Price: $245,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,100
Round 7 Stats: 18 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 49 SCPoints, 61 AFPoints, 55CKPoints

Not a single contested possession recorded for Smith, which would explain his slightly lower SC score. He was probably heavily started last week after scoring 96 the week before, so a score of 49 would be a bit disappointing. Still, we most likely brought him in for cash generation, so he just rose by 69K and has another 51K projected with a  BE of -43 on the cards this week.

Darcy Parish

SC Price: $331,100 | AF Price: $359,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,100
Round 7 Stats: N/A

Had his workload managed by the Bombers, and didn’t play any football last week. Probably a good thing for him long term, but his BE is currently 78, so he might be coming near the end of his time for us.

Connor Menadue

Featured CoachKings Contest: Saturday, Richmond VS Sydney
SC Price: $225,300 | AF Price: $244,000 | CoachKings Price: $3,800
Round 7 Stats: 11 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 54 SCPoints, 47 AFPoints, 52 CKPoints

Looked like he was going to put up a good score with 41 first half Supercoach Points, but ended the game on just 54 SCPoints. Still, that was good enough to earn him a $4.8K price rise and now has an achievable BE of 28. That puts him on the bottom of the trade priority list, but judging from his current scoring output, you’re only likely to cost yourself 10-15K if you trade him out now.

He’s dirt cheap in CoachKings, but that’s for a reason, but if you really need to save some dollars he’s an option. Worst case scenario, pick him at the start and leave a tiny bit of cash left. If he stinks up the joint you can rotate him out for another player in the $4,500 range.

Sam Kerridge

SC Price: $371,500 | AF Price: $425,000 | CoachKings Price: $6,100
Round 7 Stats: 24 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, 1 goal, 82 SCPoints, 89 AFPoints, 68 CKPoints
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Carlton VS Port Adelaide (SA Venues ONLY)

4 clangers for Kerridge, which hit his scores a bit, but still a solid effort overall, but we’re hitting the tricky point of the year now with the Kedge. His BE is 74, which is achievable, but he’s also scored lower than that on 2 occasions this year, and scores of 86, 78 and 82 would mean he wouldn’t earn much cash either if he scored at that level this week. If you didn’t have any other issues to deal with, I’d consider downgrading him, but it’s not a definite need this week.

Ben Kennedy

SC Price: $312,000 | AF Price: $333,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,900
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Melbourne VS Western Bulldogs
Round 7 Stats: 16 disposals, 2 marks, 9 tackles, 2 goals, 89 SCPoints, 93 AFPoints, 119 CKPoints

Probably typical that he scored his 3rd highest score of the year after a lot of people traded him out, but he’s still owned by 42.1% of teams, so there’s plenty still with him. His BE is now 27, which gives him a few more weeks to earn some cash, as long as he doesn’t have another dud game. He scored very well in CoachKings last week, so he is an option to consider this week, especially at a sub $6,000 price.

Tom Papley

SC Price: $281,000 | AF Price: $304,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,700
Featured CoachKings Contest: Saturday, Richmond VS Sydney
Round 7 Stats: 14 disposals, 3 marks, 7 tackles, 2 goals, 85 SCPoints, 89 AFPoints, 100 CKPoints

Another good game from Papley, who has now had 3 solid weeks in a row. He earned another 36K last week and has a BE of 18 for this week, so he’s likely to pop over the 300K mark. He’ll most likely hold for another fortnight. Worth a buy in CoachKings this week, especially against a poorer side in Richmond.

Mitch McGovern

SC Price: $265,500 | AF Price: $266,000 | CoachKings Price: $6,300
Featured CoachKings Contest: Friday, Adelaide VS Geelong
Round 7 Stats: 8 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 45 SCPoints, 39 AFPoints, 67 CKPoints

With Josh Jenkins dominating the goals last week, there wasn’t much left for McGovern, who missed an easy shot in front of goal. His BE is 67 this week, a score he’s beaten just twice this year. Consider moving him on this week. He’ll be an OK pick in CoachKings, but hasn’t shown the ability to pump out a big score yet, so I’d likely avoid at this price point.

Lincoln McCarthy

SC Price: $269,300 | AF Price: $238,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,400
Round 7 Stats: 3 disposals, 1 tackles, 1 behind, 15 SCPoints, 14 AFPoints, 13 CKPoints

Just 15 SCPoints from McCarthy, who only played about 15 minutes of footy after suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter of the Cats game against West Coast. That has absolutely blown his BE up and pushed it out to 101. His injury doesn’t look serious, but given his injury history I’d suggest the Cats will rest him for at least next week, though they have said he’ll be a game time decision. If that’s the case you can wait one more week before moving him out, but scores of 44 and 15 over the last fortnight mean it’s time to move him on.

Matthew Dea

SC Price: $289,200 | AF Price: $307,000 | CoachKings Price: $5,200
Round 7 Stats: 18 disposals, 9 marks, 3 tackles, 79 SCPoints, 85 AFPoints, 75 CKPoints

A decent game from Dea, he missed his BE, but dropped just 7.7K, money he should be able to regain this week with a BE of 54. His BE next week is projected to be 33 off of a score of 62 this week, so he might hold for another week or so.

Marcus Adams

SC Price: $349,700 | AF Price: $324,000 | CoachKings Price: $8,400
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Melbourne VS Western Bulldogs
Round 7 Stats: 20 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle, 77 SCPoints, 59 AFPoints, 105 CKPoints

Adams just managed to hit his BE and gained 7.3K for the week and has another reachable BE of 68 this week. Latest word is he fractured his finger against the Crows and will miss this week’s game against Melbourne. His time appears to be near, but with him missing a week with injury we don’t need to worry about him losing cash for the moment.

Darcy Byrne-Jones

SC Price: $322,200 | AF Price: $281,000 | CoachKings Price: $6,600
Featured CoachKings Contest: Sunday, Carlton VS Port Adelaide (SA Venues ONLY)
Round 7 Stats: 22 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 100 SCPoints, 68 AFPoints, 90 CKPoints

A great game from Byrne-Jones, who had 10 contested possessions in his 22 and also had 422 metres gained for the day. He has now gained nearly 200K and has a BE of 21, which you’d expect him to smash. He’s been a great pickup for a lot of us and if he continues this pace he could be in our sides for a long time.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

SC Price: $318,400 | AF Price: $302,000 | CoachKings Price: $6,000
Round 7 Stats: 18 disposals, 7 marks, 2 tackles, 86 SCPoints, 80 AFPoints, 83 CKPoints

Another Bomber who was on the chopping block who may have bought himself another week or two, Walla managed a 8.9K price rise and now has a BE of 50 for this week. The Bombers have North Melbourne this week, which will be a tough game for them, but you’d hope he could score a 50 at a minimum. He should keep for a little bit longer.

Mason Cox

SC Price: $159,900 | AF Price: $192,000 | CoachKings Price: $4,500
Round 7 Stats: 7 disposals, 1 mark, 10 hitouts, 24 SCPoints, 38 AFPoints, 24 CKPoints

Not much going for Cox last week, who was unable to hit kick a goal for the first time this year. That poor score has put his BE at 4, so if you traded him in, don’t worry. He’ll still earn plenty of cash from here.

Mitch Brown – Brown’s second good game in a row with a score of 96. He’s priced at $279K and has pushed back into negative BE territory at -18. Should push into the $350K range at this rate.

Peter Wright – Just the score of 47 in his third game. Scored 142 SCPoints in his first game and has managed just 91 in his next two.

Daniel Currie – Has had solid hitout numbers, but managed to get a bit more involved around the ground this week with 14 disposals. Has risen to 214.9K, so not much of a downgrade option, but could be an injury replacement if the worst happened to one of your rucks.

George Hewett – Had a score of 57 last week, but still a low BE of 21 this week. Keep him on your bench for a bit longer.

Danny MacPherson – A solid debut for MacPherson, he only had 10 disposals, but worked hard to also get 9 tackles and scored 77 SCPoints. Just his first game, so give him another week to evaluate in Supercoach.

Mason Redman – Just 45 SCPoints for Redman. Probably better options out there.

Ben Crocker – Played his first game and had just the 8 disposals. Could be given a taste, but not sure if he has enough long term potential to make a decent amount of cash.

Liam Sumner – Could give him props for being consistent, I guess, even if it is just consistently shit in fantasy football terms. He’s playing his role for the Blues though, it’s just not one that’s beneficial for Supercoach or AFL Fantasy.

Josh Wagner – Bounced back with a score of 96 SCPoints after a poor showing the week before. If you have him then you’d be happy with what he’s providing. BE is just 18.

Nakia Cockatoo – Dealt with a calf injury last week, but still expected to play on Friday night.

Michael Hartley – 62 SCPoints on the weekend and has a BE of 16, so still plenty of cash left in him.

Ciaran Byrne – Usual score in the 60’s for Byrne, who has been solid, though is currently lacking the ability of Byrne-Jones to pump out a big score.

Jason Castagna – On the bubble, but hasn’t scored that well in his two games. I’d probably avoid, he might be another Menadue who doesn’t score well enough to play, or generate any cash.

Ben Keays – Another rookie on the bubble and will likely be heavily traded in. Early BE of -53. Kicking 0.4 last week was a disappointment, but he’s shown the ability to stick a tackle, averaging 7 for the year.

Connor Blakely – Averaging just 50 SCPoints in his two games and has a slightly inflated starting price of 159K. Would rather go for Keays instead.

Jayden Short – Richmond are throwing around lineups a lot, so I’m not sure how long Short will be in the side. He was out for a month and then scored a 67 on return. Could still be a buy at $159K, but JS might be iffy.

Kaiden Brand – 65 SCPoints for his first game, which isn’t the worst. We have another week to watch him, if he even plays this week.

Eli Templeton – Has played 2 games for the Saints, so he’s right on the bubble, but had a big game for the Zebras on Saturday with 36 disposals, 15 marks, 5 tackles and kicked 1.1

Wayne Milera – Milera didn’t play SANFL on Sunday due to travelling to Melbourne as the emergency on Saturday. With Mackay out there is a chance he’s brought back this week if the Crows look to add some speed to the side.

Tom Lee – Back in the VFL and doing OK with 20 disposals, 12 marks and 3 tackles.

Tom Curren – Curren had 22 disposals, with 14 of them being handballs, 4 marks and 4 tackles in Sandringham’s big 114 to 47 win over the Collingwood VFL side.

Josh Dunkley – Just 19 disposals, 7 tackles and 5 tackles for Dunkley in Footscrays massive 105 point win over North Ballarat in the VFL.

Sam Weirderman – The #9 pick from this years draft, he kicked 4 goals in the Casey Scorpions demolishion job over the Northern Blues. The Blues team as a whole kicked 2.6, so Weiderman outscored an entire team by himself. He has kicked 13 goals over his 4 VFL matches.

Dougal Howard – Was originally named in the Power side, but dropped later, he had 14 disposals, 7 marks, 9 hitouts and kkicked 2.2 in the Magpies 27 point win over West Adelaide in the SANFL.

Sam Grimley – Back to the VFL for Grimley, who kicked 2 goals and had 8 disposals and 5 marks in the Bombers VFL win over Geelong.

Ryan Davis – Responded to his AFL axing in a big way, gathering 38 disposals, 9 marks, 3 tackles and kicked 1.1 in the Gold Coast reservers 65 point loss to Sydney in the NEAFL.

Darcy Tucker – He had 21 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles and 2 rebound 50’s in the Peel Thunder’s 17 point loss to West Perth.

Adam Marcon – On the Tigers rookie list, but mature ager at 23. He led the Tigers in the VFL with 29 disposals, 7 marks, 6 tackles and 4 inside 50’s in the Tigers 43 point loss to Port Melbourne.

Liam McBean – Only the 1 goal and 10 disposals for McBean on the weekend

Mabor Chol – Chol had just the 7 disposals, to go along with 2 marks, 5 tackles and 8 hitouts.

Harrison Wigg – 2nd round draft pick from last year who has a booming left boot. He led the way for the SANFL Crows on Sunday with 25 disposals, 4 marks and 4 tackles.

Hugh Greenwood – A bit wasteful in front of goals kicking 2.4, but also had 18 disposals and 6 marks. Gets better every week as he adjusts to football from basketball.

Jack Trengove – Continues to get it done in the VFL, with another 30 possession game, along with 10 tackles.

Tom Doedee – Still a bit raw, but held his own in an undersized Crows defence on the weekend and had 16 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles.

Sam Collins – 15 disposals, 8 marks and a goal for Sam Collins in the WAFL. You’d think he might be given a chance at some point with the Dockeres continuing to lose games.

Anthony Moribito – Continues to plug along, but prospects looking grimmer by the week after suffering a hamstring injury on the weekend. He had 19 disposals, 2 marks and 3 rebound 50’s for the Peel Thunder.

Rhys Mathieson – Brisbane had a bye in the NEAFL this week.

Jacob Hopper, Jake Barrett, Harrison Himmelberg – UWS Giants also had the bye in the NEAFL this weekend, so no footy action for the Giant trio.

And that is it from me this week. Any rookie trades you’ll be looking to make? Up and down? Or just upgrading to premo’s? Let us know in the comments below, or hit us up on Twitter @BarronVonCrow

amazing write up ! would have taken alot of time.. the community thanks you!

Top notch as always Barron.

Hopefully we get a couple of newbies this/next week to give us that downgrade target in a couple of weeks when the cows have finished mooing and ready for slaughter.

Need some help community. Who do I chuck the C on this week? Going to brothel with the borsh so can't do loophole since I''m gonna be on a bender. Help much appreciated

Harry Jensen

Get lost u wanna be sc God talk to us when u have something decent to say

since you're obviously on school holidays why don't you spend some time and write an article for the page since you are meant to be one of the best people on here. Every one that contributes to this page does it for nothing and they do a fantastic job helping people, so don't post negative and stupid comments on their articles.

Gord I'm just gonna go out on a limb and suggest that maybe he was joking

he has done it on every article for the last couple of days bit over it mate

I'm tipping there is going to be a response from his huge repertoire of "flog", "shit", "I'm the best".

He is like one of those annoying insects that buzz around without purpose, annoy everyone, spoil your day but eventually goes away or gets splattered.

Jock: can we ban this guy?

i would say it is difficult to complete block someone from commenting as you don't need to make an account for commenting

Read his comment, it wasn't him

i agree, this harry jensen guy is nothing but a little kid that has no clue what he is talking about and to be honest, i wouldnt mind if his device died.

guys im sorry but wasnt me

Rick Grimes

Who let the children in?

Agreed. You most certainly are.

You are chit f off ass ole

Best thing to do guys, is just not respond to this idiot. Pretend he doesn't exist and you never saw his stupid comment.

Dont Blush Babbie

Great work Barron, especially the arounds the grounds, love that info mate,Cheers

just letting people know that i'm harry jensen and my mates wrote all that stuff

under my name

u still suck

it wasn't me man i haven't commented anything

i dont care as if you would let your friends do that. just so immature!

See it's this easy to use someone else's username, I usually go by James

you have just demonstrated that by using my username u total failure to human society

Isn't that the point laptop?

no james you idiot, sorry jock for my language

Sorry laptop I think it is, also just a question, did you drop out of school? Btw you are no better than harry if you're telling him to die

no in fact i didnt drop out of school i am still in school, i am currently in year 11 and my question to you is? why are you using a name that isnt yours?

To prove how easy it was for harry's mates to use his name, now can you please stop this immature talk and get back to footy

you are one of his mates though

Well I actually have no idea who he is

i looked up harry jensen and i bet you are one of either: brody ikin, jack presti or harvey hanneman

Or my name is James? Prefer not to say my last name on this, now please stop

Just a tip! You guys are all alike for continuing to bite back.

Probably missed the boat!

Which forward rookies does everything think will be making a debut in the coming weeks? Thanks

Shut up you shit human

stop using my username

Mad u scum of the earth

Agree with previous poster. Cannot find such insightful and helpful info anywhere else in the SC world. Danke BVC.

Can we get back to talking footy as this is a super coach forum and leave the childish behaviour behind?

I think we would all appreciate that.

Best way is never reply to fools!

Agree Trigger but the best way is probably to stop biting and ignore. They will grow tired.

Does anyone know roughly how much Robbie Grays price will drop if he scores 120? Currently at 554k with BE of 200

Might be time to force users to login before being able to comment. Can't be arsed with reading the rubbish from today.

Agreed… some people hey. SMH

Good call however if you ignore them they will hopefully go away.

Jackson Trengrove

Thoughts on bringing me in to your teams this week I think I could score pretty well in the ruck whilst lobbe is out my BE is 9 so even if dont work out you might make some $$$$$$

You're bloody tempting, Jackson! Role change to something more SC friendly at 300k. I'm starting to slip in the rankings so a bit of a hail mary in a largely unpredictable backline is the not the worst idea

Jackson Trengrove

I am a make or break move. could pay huge rewards the risk might not be that huge even if i average 80 over the next 3 weeks will generate some cash and can upgrade me. I am going to be ballsy and bring myself in

Southern S

Even if you average 80 and generate some cash? Like 100k or so?

You give yourself way too much credit burning two trades to make a pittance like that is supercoach stupidity at it's finest.

No offence Jackson like you as a player but this even if averaging 80 thing will create burns 🙂 (unless you can score 90+ for the rest of the season and be a keeper then what's the point of wasting trades……….)

Does everyone think it is crucial to have to have both keays and petracca in our sides this year?

If I dont jump on both, meaning i would likely leave out keays, it means i can get Rance into my side this week – who i feel is a lock defender come the end of the year

Will i be disadvantaged withouth having both rookies making money or do people feel the likes of macpherson etc. will more than cover the lack of either keays or petracca

Thanks guys

Jackson Trengrove

I think you will be fine with just Petracca provided you have money makers in place. Keays hasn't looked that great to me. Remember you want to be able to get your team to above 13 million so if you think you can get there without keays go ahead

The Mountain

I reckon that petracca is a must have but im not sold on keays, i will see how mcPherson goes this week and go from there

Pretty much confirmed that Daniel Wells will miss this weekend.

Still would recommend holding him community higher priorities and he has shown he can score very well.

community ive got 600 K in the bank after downgrading to petracca and keays, is this too much?

Forbidden Donut

One of the best articles of the week, every week!. Sadly, I wasted 5 minutes of my time reading the comments which are nomally insightful too. I suppose every great forum is eventually going to be subject to trolls. They can be hungry buggers. Let's not feed them community.

I N Pieman

Great article as always BVC. Really love the around the grounds. Jungle drums are beating that Wigg will get a crack soon

He's been on my radar for about 18 months now!

Eade want the Sub to be brought back? Do SC's like the vest or interchange? I like the interchange and hate the vest!

Mills to Keays this week or Mills to MacPherson next week?

Average Joe

prob keays, as mills will lose a bit of cash and macpherson might not keep his spot/not score well

Cpt Pugwash

Keays. Should see plenty of game time with rocky out.

Mills to Keays and Weitering to Simpson

Next week: Kennedy and Kerridge for Priddis and Pendles or Selwood

ATM only have 4 premo midfielders as well as Libba

That's me by the way

Sounds good but might be burning Kerridge a bit early.

The Mountain

And kennedy as well

Ranked around 200 or so and bringing in dalhaus
Swinging him into forward for petracca tho
Thoughts ?

I N Pieman

Gary back in the guts according to Rocket. 6 changes for the suns this week. Little concerned about Hall

I am hoping Hall will stay

The Ranger

Another top notch article Barron, nice one.

Community, im trading adams this week but not sure to who. whose the best bet bartel or merret

Southern S

Topped out in price, averaging 105.4 for 550k.

Rather grab Docherty averaging 100 for 487k myself.

Anyway Michael asked between Bartel and Merret I'd grab Bartel with a 45 BE.

Any love for McVeigh. He is damn cheap if he can get back to last years form

Southern S

I reckon next week, he's on a 114 BE see how he goes.

Thanks. After seeing the teams i have bigger priorities now. Will definitely wait

going for a couple of POD moves this week with my trades as followed

Parish—–> Petracca
De Goey—–> Riewoldt

then i will place the vc on Ward and the C on Riewoldt as he play on Sunday and his form is to hard to ignore

my team is
Shaw Houli, Tipungwuti, DBJ, Byrne, Ruggles (Laird, Adams)
Dangerfield, Hannebery, Ward, ablett, shiel zieball priddis petracca (hewett, gresham davis)
Big Beard, nic nat (lorensch)
Hall, riewoldt martin kerridge benken menadue (wells, cox)

then next week i will downgrade davis to macpherson then adams to def premo

Good for you dude

Evening Community,
just wanted to ask how many trades we should be on leading into round 9?

I'd love to have your opinions on trade strategies as well leading into the bye rounds.

I'm currently on 23 remaining.

** Round 8 **

It all depends on how many genuine premiums you have

think a bit

make a decision for yourself #the boring one!! Pinidu it is!!

Looks like you don't know the purpose of this website…

Mate we all know that you trawl here for comments that you then copy and re-post as your own wisdom on other blogs, plagiarism isn't research

Southern S

For real? I feel as sick as Ross when he looks at his over the hill list.

You actually reckon I start discussions here to put on other forums? What have u been smoking mate?

I ask a simple question about trades which is a very prevelant discussion amongst SuperCoach coaches at this time of year. For your information I have never even thought about doing something as cowardice as what you have suggested….perhaps that just shows your own thinking. If you can't accept simple discussions about supercoach then you're definitely on the wrong website. And if you're so sure dissing others behind the safety of your computer screen why don't you tell us what exact 'forums' I've been posting on?

Typical haters. It's a disgrace to see such a well run and remarkable Community website trolled by people like you.

Southern S, I've never even thought of doing something as cowardice as betraying this website. Don't listen to people like him ('busted again') who don't know what they're talking about and spend their days making assumptions about other people.

Don't feed the trolls mate – I've been trading hard have 18 after this week but I'm fairly rubbishy at sc

Southern S

It sounded pretty far fetched I didn't actually believe it…….but it opened a door for a joke about freo that I couldn't resist.

21 left for me

iv'e gone pretty hard early but my plan was to go hard early then just hold until byes for some downgrades and upgrades then sit till finals i have 18 left my team above

Southern S

You'd want 1 mill+ in your bank right now or you are going to have a tough time getting full premo needing 7 more guns.

You'll have a few trades left for injuries and/or players being rested. Would not be getting guys like N.Riewoldt into your team if you don't have a big warchest.

I N Pieman

Wells is out & Barlow is not on the flight to Tassie. Here comes the carnage

Southern S

Oh well most have Wells so it shouldn't be too bad. If everyone has bench cover or swingmen that is 🙂

Boltons Blues

now that Adams and Wells are out, ive changed my trades

Trading Adams to Bartel (via brown DPP) – that gives me AMT and Brown that can be swung around (although they wont be in the team much longer)
Trading Mills – Petracca – (via wells DPP) – that gives me Wells and half my forwards that can be swung around, and means i play B Crouch this week

Team –
Shaw // Simpson // Bartel // AMT // DBJ // Byrne (Laird // Ruggles) – 2 Premo spots left
Danger // Parker // Ablett // Shiel // Sloane // Libba // Cripps // Crouch (Wells// Davis // Dunkley) – 1 premo spot left (2 if you including Libba, as he will be a sideways trade)
Goldy // Gawn (Grimley) 0
Hall // Martin // Kerridge // Kennedy // Brown // Petracca (Menadue // Cox) 3 premo spots left
I have 360k and 20 trades left, 6 premo spots to fill, should leave me about 6/7/8 injury/rage trades comings towards the end of the bye weeks

– Is bartel the best pick? i didnt want 3 cartlon defenders thus not picking Docherty

Pick one out of Bartel, Rance and McVeigh.

You have at least 8 premo spots to fill, not 6.
As far as your defender upgrade goes, I don't see the problem with 3 Carlton defenders as you'd surely be upgrading Byrne around the bye rounds, which would leave you with 2 Carlton defenders for the run home.

Absolute carnage!!!! No Robbie Gray. Wells out, Greene out, Barlow out, Cyril Rioli out. What the hell is going on??

I have 8 loophole options this week. LOL

Gonna struggle to field 22 this week. My team has been decimated.

Yeh I am not sure why Ross would drop Barlow was starting to find form then had one bad game…

Southern S

Long trip to tazzy just to be smashed by hawks so probably resting, or tanking, or has gone crazy. Take your pick.

It wouldn't make a difference to the outcome of that game if Lyons rested himself. Not kidding lol.

Ross Lyon is a snapperhead…..seriously…..He has no Fyfe, a team out of form, and then he drops Barlow!
There is no doubt Barlow will be back next week after the Hawks give them a reaming in Launceston this week.

I do, he sucks

Shake n bake

I'm lucky there tophawk, only have Wells so I'll stick to just the 1 trade mills to Patracca.

keays a must this week?

Not a must, but a very good option

No, a handy downgrade option with a higher ceiling than most rookies

Dempsey (hamstring)
Didn't take him long to disappoint his owners

Southern S

Yep only played 3 games this year then already done a hammy………this is why people get called crazy for wanting to trade him in on the back of a couple of good games!

Good to see that my advice of not picking him was warranted.

unlucy for the people that traded barlow back in last week lucky i went dusty instead

Southern S

I get the feeling Ross knows they were going to get smashed in tazzy regardless so is resting him, he's probably going to tank all year after this horrendous start.

Probably the same reason Rioli is being rested by the hawks, easy win against the bottom team (who would've thought freo in 18th…….)

Southern S

Actually Rioli out due to a family illness……….

Southern S you mad?

Community is it time to paint the fence or double downgrade?
Here is my team:

Backs: Shaw, Laird, Bartel, Rich, Smith, DBJ (Brown, Hartley)
Mids: Danger, Selwood, Parker, Ablett, Gray, Wines, Libba, Mills (B Ken, Menadue, Smith)
Rucks: Gawn, Nic Nat (Cox)
Fowards: Barlow, Hall, Wells, Adams, AMT, Kerridge (Papey, Mccarthy)

My plans were to go
Mills–> Petracca
Adams–> Dusty

Now with the carnage of Barlow, Wells and Robbie Gray not playing if I complete the above trades I will have to field Menadue or Smith.
It is a pitty that I cannot get Hartley and Brown on the field instead of Menadue ir Smith but I cannot.
Looking for some possible trade suggestions or should I stick with the original plan and take a possible crappy score from Smith or Menadue

Do I trade Greene or Barlow to petrecca and have 600 to upgrade next week

Ok if you have trades to burn. You are going to have to trade another premo in later to replace them

LOL no you keep them dont be silly take it in the the old stink hole! You will lose but oh well!

Onya philthy phil

Which one do you think Barlow or Greene get rid off pls answer!!

Like Phil said keep them. I reckon Barlow will come back firing after getting dropped. Greene only soreness 1 week out.

I think so to Barlow will kill it so traded Greene so inconsistent to petrecca got 22 trades so I think I'm right

The Mountain

Mate hold your trades they will both only be out for one, surely you have coverage and its just a waste of a trade

Southern S

knee jerk trades will cause the supercoach gods to punish you severely.

I did read above! bend over and take it in the stink hole! You dont trade either! Ur FHAWKED

Just trade like BURST

Absolutely stupid trades!!! Greene is only sore so just about a certainty to be back next week. This will massively backfire on you. Definite knee jerk trade here

Rough for those that have Greene and Barlow! They are out!

Most would have Wells too. Hope they can swing someone forward and dodge a donut.

I got wells covered!

Southern S

Dougal Howard back in do we think Trengove will score as well as last week?

Extended bench. Surely they will stick with what worked last week, aka no dougal.

Southern S

Maybe yeah. You'd be sitting on massive plums to lock in Trengove this week though.

Sometimes you have to have massive plums. I'm doing it. But not just on a whim. Trust me, I've written down all my major upgrade and downgrade targets to get a complete squad, allowed for injuries, and I think it can be done. Adams out for trengove. I figure worst case scenario he becomes D7/D8. I trade him in and he stays, hell or high water barring injury. Let's reconvene in a few weeks and see whether I'm anointed a genius or you're shipping me off to Arkham

Southern S

Maybe you should trade Dempsey out for him 🙂

Jokes! Good luck it should go ok even if he shares ruck duties with others.

Nothing new there haha

Southern S

Oscar McDonald and Dunkley back in might please a few patient coaches!

carnage this week with people being rested was surprised not to see goldstien out too

Southern S

You're joking right? 35 hitouts and 17 possessions last week look like the sign of an injured or burnt out player?

just thought it being against the bombers they might rest him. would say there has been worse players for freo to than barlow

Southern S

Yeah I see what you're saying there, I suppose he must be in good condition if they're not resting him against the bombers.

yea just thought the way they are going this year they might have thought about giving him the extra rest

Still might give him a light load up forward. Why else bring in Majac?

They brought Majak in this week. Hate to say it but it is looking more and more likely he may get rested.

Southern S

Majak on the interchange is an interesting move. I think Goldy will play but probably take it easy.

better trade in option out of Zorko and Dalhaus, or are there any other fwd premos i should consider?

Southern S

Martin or Merrett are a couple of good options, Martin is pretty cheap right now and has a BE of 63.

have already got martin, just not sure out of zorko or dahlaus

Southern S

Zorko is averaging more 116.5 vs 110.4?

They are both great options go with your gut on who plays out the season best.

Dusty if you don't have him

I like motlop as a pod

So do i HOLLA.

Shake n bake

Zorko for me it suits me in my bye rds.

I went the Zork but it was a tough call. Seems to be spending pretty much all his time in the middle which is great for his contested footy. Not gonna change with Rocky out either

Freo in full tank mode in round 8 otherwise Barlow plays. Nearly BOG 2 weeks ago.

Southern S

Agreed. may as well rest some good players though then you have an excuse when the scoreline is 150 to 30.

Ross Lyon 'We need to reset, revisit and refocus. It's not ideal but we're under no illusions. Make no mistake, it's a ruthless and uncompromising competition. We need to bring a higher output and discipline to our next contest and it's self evident that we didn't stick to our structures to be truthful'.

Southern S

I'd trade McCarthy to Dusty and Mills to Petracca.

Yeh not enough cash for the that I came up about 15k short 🙁

hi community, I'm in a bit of strife! Could someone please tell me the estimated weeks the following will miss:

Laird, Barlow, adams and wells

Going from the current information i know I have made the following trades but I would happily reverse them if someone has a better idea!!

Wells —— Dusty or montagna
adams —— docerty

Thanks Andrew

Southern S

I'd almost say Wells is a bigger asset than Barlow (as long as he returns in a week)

Adams should be back in a week also. Not a fan of these moves both guys have attainable BE's.

Got McCarthy and Mills to trade instead? Both have Be's close to 100 and don't look like hitting them.

The Mountain

Whack them all on the pine, they all should be back next week, adams maybe 2 depending on how his finger is.If you have other areas that need fixing such as a mills or weitering id fix them first

Can anyone beat this?
Here are all those on the pine for me:

Adams, Laird, Gray, Davis, Dunkley, Grimley, Wells, Wyatt and Greene and Barlow donuts on field.
Fielding 20. Expecting to drop into 10k+ ranking.

Went Weitering + Mills to Rance and Simpson. Cant DPP fwd. 22 trades left.

Southern S

Nope can't beat that, I've managed to field 22 and have an emergency on my mid and forward benches.

Dunkley is possibly playing by the way he's on the extended bench.

Minor consolation. But I fully expect him to miss out.

The Ranger

Ouch! The perfect storm mate eh?
Trades look god tho, good luck!

I'm without laird, Adams, rockliff, Greene, simpkin, Barlow, McCarthy, wells, grimley, Davis. Was ranked in the top 150 last week. The drop this week could be ugly!

Laird still out too.

Southern S

They are probably being careful, hope he's back next week.

Dahlhaus or Pendles?

Southern S

Dahlhaus if in the forward line

Had to make a few changes to get the best players I could on the field.

Def: Shaw, Simpson, DBJ, Tippa, M.Brown, Byrne (LAIRD, ADAMS)
Mid: Danger, Hannebery, Parker, GAJ, Libba, M.Crouch, Kennedy, Keays (WELLS, Smith, Gresham)
Ruc: Goldy, NicNat (Grimley)
Fwd: Martin, Hall, Franklin, Kerridge, Papley, Petracca (BARLOW, Menadue)

Is my midfield that bad???

Southern S

If it's bad what are you going to do about it?

Just play the team you can, plenty of people going to be in the same boat this week.

The Mountain

You need a few more premos in you mid for my liking mate

Will have Priddis and Pendles/Selwood in there next week

Trades this week
Mills to Martin
Barlow to Docherty

I N Pieman

My 5th year of SC. First time I've had a premo dropped. Had to be Ross. Asshole!

lol or maybe you picked Barlow?

Pretty happy i am still able to field 22 this week with Laird, Wells, Greene, Mckenzie, Davis all on the bench unable. Also had Adams but trading him. Would these important outs mean we may expect a "good" score may be a bit lower this week? If so, what do you reckon will be a good score. I know it is hard to tell before the round has even started but would like to hear your opinion.

Southern S

Good score 2250?

Great score. I'm looking at 2000 tops. Disaster round last week, went under 2000. This week I have four of my better players on the pine.

Anyone else happy with their team but putting up awful scores?

Is Barlow Injured or just being rested ? Im having a shit start to year I seem to bring in players when they score low , injured or late withdrawals …. Supercoach just seems hard this year

Southern S

Omitted ie dropped but I think it's more of a rest, but you can't say you're resting 3 guys when you are 0-7 without it looking like blatantly giving up.

Ross has a knack of putting clubs at the bottom of the ladder … Still you dont hear about his job being on the line evryones talking about bucks at least he is trying lol

Southern S

He's omitted

Who knows, with Lyons? Doesn't matter he is out and glad I dropped him!

What are people thinking a good score will be???

At the moment Im just happy to get 2000+ ive had weeks were my projected score has been 2390 and ive scored 1900 The super coach gods are punishing me

I'll be happy with a score of 500 YES thats right 500…lol Bloody hell I have Laird, Adams, Wells, Barlow, C Rioli all on my bench, I have cover however id need a TON of rookies to go HUGE.

Goldy VC
Hannebery, Parker or Gaz C???

Gaz. Only because I think Gold Coast will win.

Southern S

Against GWS at Spotless!

That place is fast becoming the place of nightmares for opposition teams that is a massive call!

There has to be one upset this week. And I also like a punt so maybe $10 on the suns. Lol.

Someone posted in another thread earlier this week about how midfielders have very much struggled against GWS this season. Plus he hasn't been in the greatest form of late. So i wouldn't have much confidence in putting the C on him this week. Maybe VC as you have someone to fall back on.

well i should stop trading as it seems to affect things. Traded in Barlow last week and now being rested. Traded in Fantasia 2 rounds ago. Was playing on the wing and was looking the goods. Since ive made that trade, he has been playing in the forward line. Guess thats Supercoach for you.Aaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh

Sounds like you really dont know what your doing rather than SC! ; )

Stop chasing points, start bringing in premiums.

Bartel or Enright?

Southern S

Tough one, but Bartel is probably just a bit less injury prone

Southern S

Wow I'm running a powerful forward line this week…………..

Hall, Kerridge, Kennedy, De Goey, M.Brown, Petracca.

Southern S

You wanna see something crazy……………… backline!

Shaw, Bartel, AMT, DBJ, Hartley, Byrne

DBJ is on the extended bench but confident he'll play. No emergency!

DBJ should play if he doesn't Ill be surprised/?

Mines almost the same except I have Brown instead of Hartley. I traded Adams for Bartel this week and have Laird and O McD on the bench. I was happy to keep the Ess boys until the byes but it was a better plan when I could use McD as a loophole.

Southern S

I'll be lucky to make 1900 lol

How about my form
I have all of Barlow, Greene, laird, rocky, and wells warming the pine after trades this week
Going to be rough…. Can cover but gee it's not going to be pretty

Southern S

Holy crap! May the supercoach gods be kind to you in the immediate future of next round!

Heater is on extended bench and I know they will not sitting him!

Its all a rouse!

Southern S

He's on the bench but not the extended bench 🙂

annoying old lady

Hi all. I'm bringing in a premo defender this week, and I'm torn between Matthew Boyd and Alex Rance.

Boyd ($540,300)
– Has averaged over 100 in 8 of the last 9 seasons (97 in that one season)
– Murphy done for the year will help him, Johanissen gone till later in the season will all but guarantee good scores until then
– Accumulates possessions week in and week out

– Age..?

Rance ($549,000)
– In a shit team, will have the pill down his end more often than in previous years
– Is in peak physical condition and is shown to be a durable player
– Is averaging 105 this season

– Prone to sporadic type scoring (massive ceiling, low floor)
– Only averaged over 90 once (last season, 97 average)
