PODCAST: Things get serious in NAB 2
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
They really came to play in the NAB over the weekend.
And the fantasy relevance of what transpired over the weekend’s NAB Challenge games was significant. The murky fog of uncertainty around rookies is beginning to lift. Midpriced mirages are dissolving before our very eyes. New possibilities are presenting themselves.
Important notes as discussed in the podcast;
- We released the initial list of 42 venues who have signed on for CoachKings. We will update this list on Wednesday
- If you want to add a venue to this list TAG the venue into the CoachKings introductory video on Facebook. You might need to ‘Like’ the venue on the Facebook before it lets you tag

best day of the week
Thoughts on e.wood in the backline community?
It's a strange year boys! What's the go with Ol mate Brad crouch?!
forget about him for now
Absolutely spewing if that ends up the case he coulda been Bloody handy
Adelaide radio reports last week were that he had pulled up "sorer than expected" so was rested for NAB 2
Yep. He still did a training session and is supposed to be ready for NAB 3, but I suspect even if he does play he'll have limited game time.
if he plays round 1, he wont be putting up the points that we are after. Ill be looking at him a few games in i think.
But we will let NAB guide us!
Everyone's top 10 mids?
Ablett, Fyfe, Pendles, Danger, Hannebery, Rocky, Gray, Sloane, Parker, Wines
Fyfe, Rockliff, Pendlebury, Ablett, Priddis, JPK, Gray, Dangerfield, Beams, Sloane
fyfe, dangerfield, pendles, ablett, priddis, jpk, beams, rockliff, beams, hannerbury
Ablett, Fyfe, Pendles, Danger, Hannebery, Rocky, JPK, Priddis, Mundy and Beams,
Fyfe, Pridittis, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Treloar, Cotchin,Rocky, Parker, Sam Mitchell, Ward
Cotchin? Surely that's a typo.
Hey Gents,
Who do you like most out of the following?
Billings, Stringer, Merrett, Greene.
Cheers.
Reckon Zacky Merrett now..looks like he can go through the guts now and kicks goals!buddy at f3 for me but im strongly considering Zacky now..
Had buddy in at first look at my team but since booted… currently have Billings but want to see a few more games from him, like the look of Merrett,
Im expecting billings to explode but in saying that i cant fit him into my starting team
Are you ready for the money shot?
Big fan of Greene ball magnet
I like Greene as well. I think Greene can be in the top 6 forwards by the end of the year
Stringer looks powerful.
Will be listening very closely tonight fellas…love the podcasts!!!
What do people think of Matt Boyd?
Too old won't play 22 games
Will prob be highest scoring aveage defender but will be managed so his ripe for finals. He will play max 18 games baring injury.
Is anyone thinking of doing the unthinkable and passing on Ablett for someone like Pendels or Gray and trying to pick him up later when we know how he is going?
No
sure am!!..
…
…
…
hah, just kidding
NO
Maccaffer a good option? Wont tag this year
Could save $60k by going a cheaper more reliable rookie
He'll be reliable, l think anyway.
It would be improbable that he'd play a hard tagger when recovering from a knee injury.
Excellent podcast fellas, loving the looseness Jock brought this week courtesy of Carlton Draught
Thank you Grahame. Glad you enjoyed this casting of the pod mate
What defenders you think will finish top 8 come end of year?
Heres my go (in no particular order) Shaw, Mcveigh, Boyd, Bartel, Rance, Laird, Rich and Houli
Sh*t forgot simpson and murphy replace them with rich and houli
Backs – Laird, Murphy, Kolodjashnij, Sheridan, Brown (Ess), Bonner (Collins, Broad)
Mids – Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Parker, Liberatore, Parish, Mathieson (Keys, Phillips, Clarke)
Rucks – Goldstein, Lobbe (Cox)
Forwards – Martin, Barlow, Stringer, Franklin, Kerridge, Petracca (Grimley, Adams)
Thoughts community?
Sheridan and Stringer risky picks and rookies subject to change
Leave Goldy alone. Upgrade Lobbe. Set and forget
I think the riskiest pick there is Lobbe after what gawn did to him on the weekend.
42 initial CoachKings venue and 42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.
Flip it the other way and you get 24. 24 cans of Carlton Draught in a case, 24 hors in a day!
doing real well if you can get through 24 hors in a day Valks!! lol
Hours! Ha
Geez I feel like going to the Globe here in Deniliquin for an ice cold Carlton Draught now Jock. Only trouble is I've just come over from Adelaide and I have no idea how to order a beer properly. I liked the look of Mckay from Carlton too, any thoughts on his role at the Navy blues? I liked the way he had a few little jabs and bumps with the bomber boys during the breaks too.
I also liked the way the bombers made Carlton look like the team of top ups.
The battle for the spoon has begun.
Awesome podcast boys! So disappointed I didn't win the tickets… I was 55… so close!!!
I think I'm starting to veer away from all the midpricers as you spoke about. Standard GnR set up… but I think I need to take a risk somewhere. The winner usually has picked at least 1 breakout player… still deciding who that might be.
Cheers fellas. Another great Podcast. It always helps get me through work on a Monday.
Small sample size, but I think the initial difference between Smith this year and the previous two years may very well be the Crows ball movement out of the back half. 2014 when he was All-Australian, the defenders like Talia, Brown, Rutten etc all were instructed to move the ball around by hand until you could get it into the hands of Brodie Smith or Matty Jaenech. So they were the main facilitators of the offense out of the back half. Last year he still had some great performances, but he was further up field and was delivering the ball inside to the forwards.
This year there's two things the Crows are looking to do. Intercept across half back and then if possible, work the ball through from halfback and through the middle with chain possessions of handballs. But they don't look to be going to just Smith anymore, so if Smith isn't being the main outlet out of half back, that lowers his potential. BUT if he can become an intercepting player and be involved in those chains, either at the start, middle or even the end where he can finish, then he could still be a good player. Unley Oval in NAB 1 was supposedly 26m smaller than a normal oval, so it's not exactly the best for that kind of gameplay, and he was obviously off at halftime. Laird is still a great pick too, and I may be leaning towards him if the cash is there. I'd definitely give him NAB 3 before we write him off and hope Dr Modra fixed him up in the rooms when he went off crook.
Also, if this doesn't illustrate how big of a year I think he's going to have, then nothing will. I am locking Patrick Dangerfield into my midfield. M1, teamed up with Ablett as my M2.
Great analysis Barron. I'm locking in Dangerfield too. I think it will help us get over the loss by forcing us to 1. watch him play, and 2. hope he plays well.
I've also already bought my tickets to the Crows v Cats game at Adelaide Oval. I'm coming over from Melbourne for it… God I hope we win that game!!
Great hear, Sarah. I'm not gonna boo him, but I hope we flog the pants off the Cats!
Which one
1. Nic nat and parker
2. Zac smith and pendlebury
both shit options
How is option 1 shit? Please tell me about your supercoach knowledge? Option 1 is good.
both players extremely risky, a lot better options in both positions available with similar prices
Parker risky?
if your considering zac smith, you know nothing about supercoach. A lot better mid options available than Parker
I like Parker as an option. Injury effected last year. Has loads of potential. Nic Nat could also be in for a huge year!!
Option 1 for me. Don't mess about with the rucks.
agree that you need 2 gun rucks!, i just cant see parker averaging more than 110+ which you want from premium mid's. Hannebery would be the only Sydney mid i'd consider.
Agree Sarah I've now down graded Martin to Nic Nat and upgraded Lobbe for Gawn. They'll be my starting ruckmen. I've also gone for Parker & Rocky now in the midfield and done away with Pendles. My side looks like this now
Backs: Laird, Bartel, Rosa, Sheridan, Brown (Ess) Hartley, Byrne-Jones, Broad
Mids: Fyfe, Danger, GAJ, Rocky, Parker, Libba, Mills, Kerridge, Gore, Keays, Mathieson
Ruck: Nic Nat, Gawn, Cox
Fwd: Dusty, Barlow, Greene, De Goey, Kennedy (Melb) Milera, Petracca, Grimley
What do you think?
I like it!! Good solid backline! I do think people are jumping on De Goey a bit quick. It was one good NAB game, no Pendles or Treloar, and he's a second year player. Not for me. Maybe next year or the year after.
Thanks Sarah. I'm finding the forward harder to pick this year. I'll just keep my eye on how De Goey goes in the next NAB Cup game. I was thinking similar to you when the Collingwood guns return what effect it'll have on De Goey. The same think could be said about Mills in the midfield. When McVeigh returns how will it effect Mills and his role in the Sydney side.
I did like Vandenberg's game for Melbourne on the weekend. He did play forward but I think that was more for team balance and another tall option. If he goes and spends more time midfield and goes forward he could be in for some handy scores.
1 is much better
Gawn vs Nic Nat?
Who averages more?
Tough call, Nic Nat has a better chance of averaging more as he has averaged well for a few years now, Gawn was only good late last season
I'm thinking both
Going with Nic Nat because i feel he has scoring potential away from hit outs.
Thoughts on my team! Feedback is appreciated.
Shaw, Laird, KK, Aish, Broad, Tucker, Collins, McDonald-Tipungwuti,
Fyfe, Danger, Ablett, Rockliff, Parker, Libba, Mills, Gresham, Keays, Mathieson, MacPherson
Goldstein, Gawn, Wyatt
Martin, Zorko, Barlow, Kerridge, Petracca, Brown, Grimley, Adams.
Good team, although having set reliable premos means there are more rookies which if don't go well round 1, could mean the use of a few early trades
So what suggestions do you suggest?
if that makes sense
I like it beast very similar to mine atm besides a couple defs.
Rance Laird McGovern (2dads Jones)
Weitering Brown (ess) K.Collins (Hartley)
Danger Fyfe GAJ (Mathieson)
Rocky Parker Libba (Petracca)
Gresham Kerridge (Phillips)
Goldy Gawn (Cox)
Choppies Z t Mag Winky (McCarthy)
Simpkin Milera Menananandue (Filthy Grimey)
I think McGovern is a smokey POD/breakout with a few big boys back for the eagles.
Great podcast fellas few frothies in the shed after work Mondays is a must now cheers
Is there a good argument for putting a midpriced ruckman like Kreuzer or Z.Smith in your starting lineup with the view to upgrade to Goldstein when the price is right.
You might burn a trade, but could potentially save up to $200k.
Could be a good plan, but there is no rucks around that would make quick cash and it will be a while till Goldstein falls below $600k
Definately considering it as I can't justify the goldy spend, considering Sinclair,Nicholls, smith and kreuzer I guess (though a bit pricey). If Sinclair can do a little in the next couple nabs and looks like averaging 85-90+ he might be the one, would make a handy f6-7 ruck cover later in the season. And means your not wasting a trade as he is slipped into the forward line. Just doubting his scoring potential but we'll see…. I think he'll ruck 65-70% over Tippett so that might be enough….
Couple Swans members i know reckon they'll share rucks duties if not Sinclair spending a touch more time forward.
Could be right, time will tell I guess, i just remember horse saying something about getting Tippett playing more time in "his" position this year. Then again he has been doin well in the ruck and he is a big bastard (203cm) Sinclair is 200. Interesting…. Hmmmmm
Tippet was an absolute gun over the later part of last year, I think they’ll want his presence around the ground, he seems like he’d been watching Mummy’s game and reacting well after the taps, getting involved.
Swans are real chance for the flag this year I reckon.
absolutely. Many here will tell you otherwise, but if you go for Gawn instead of goldy you're saving 140k odd already and got yourself a ruck who'll score. That 140 could upgrade your r2 from a lobbe type to a nic nat type (give or take a few 10ks) but you catch my drift. You can have 2 solid ruckman for a mill or goldy and martin for 1.29mill.
The funds can be used elsewhere! Rookies generate cash and if you really really need 2 you can goldy it up later.
A question for the ages is has any number one priced player every significantly increased? Will goldy go above 700k????
Surely not.
I think the gap in price between Goldy and a midprice ruck will always be too great for that plan to work.
I have decided it will be impossible for a mid pricer to upgrade to goldy.gap is just too big. I am however toying with goldy and a mid pricer (like lobbe). That way I can save some cash initially and upgrade to a fawn/nic Nat/ jacobs, whoever has bottomed out.
Great podcast guys! Got my eye on Viney and Z.Merrett after their performances. Sheridan is also an interesting pick. Thoughts community?
Sheridan is an interesting pick. Not sure I trust Ross Lyon in which what role Sheridan will play. Viney looked good, but will he tag?
That is the only problem I have with Viney at the moment, he hasn't yet though. Sheridan looks like he may get midfield time or provide run off half back with his speed
I'm all over Sheets. Per my comments in the Freo/Crows game thread.
Sheets finished last yr with an 85avg from last 9.
Looks like similar role.
My Balance looks way better if I have Nic Nat and Gawn as my 2 ruckman – Arhhh the dilemmas of Ruckman.
not sure if I big enough brass balls to go it though.
I'm dealing with the same issue…….Its tough…..remember NicNat and Gawn have same bye week.
Yes,I had Goldy & Martin until i realised they had the same bye, now gone Goldy & Gawn – haha Goldstein & Gawn – sounds like a Law Firm
Why not Goldy and Smith or Lobbe?
Would you go Aish or Weitering at D4?
Can see Weitering being very inconsistent. How do you think he'll go against Cloke or Hawkins? Aish can run around and try to accumulate. It's reactive versus proactive.
Boyd and Weitering
OR
KK and Sheridan
KK and Sheridan at this stage. But if you can swap Boyd for someone like Laird I would do that.
Feel free to join the league 466962
done. 372216 is also available in case those who miss.
Thoughts on Sam Gray?
played really well on the weekend
Yeah I really like him, I think he could well be top 10 forward but just awkward price. I'm leaning to a hall at the moment but we'll see what next couple of nabs bring.
top 10 forward means shit. doubt he'll be a top 6 forward
Your better than I am if you think you can nail all 6 of the top 6 forwards, if you can slot someone in out of the top ten for 480k at the start of the season you do it every time…..
If named in Round 1, pick him. At the very least, place him upon your watch list. If he plays most games this year, then he could average over 100.
Thoughts on my team.
DEF: Laird, KK, Bartel, Sheridan, Brown, Hartley (Byrne-Jones, Broad)
MID: Fyfe, Danger, GAJ, Rocky, Parker, Libba, Gresham, Mathieson (Keays, Clarke, Phillips)
RUC:Goldy, Gawn (Wyatt)
FWD: Montagna, Dusty, Barlow, Kennedy, Kerridge, Petracca (Grimley, Adams)
Rookies could change depending if named and NAB cup form.
Still unsure on Montagna, could downgrade him to upgrade Parker to Pendles.
i like the Montagna pick Liam. Big POD. if he stays injury free, i see him possibly averaging 110+ based on he wont get tagged anymore. I lime this team.
Cheers Holty, I'm hopping Montagna fires early and gets me some points.
Need some help lads- first Tom Sherridan or James Aish as D4? Which of these 2 ruckman should I consider? Blicavs, Nic Mac, Gawn, Sam Jacobs, Mumford? Jordan degoey as a f4? And best rookies?
Sheridan.
Jacobs, Gawn.
Not a bad option, but I think he's awkwardly priced.
Look at some of teams the community is posting for rookie ideas.
Mitch Duncan or Luke Parker as m5
Probably Parker
I have Parker at 4 & Duncan at 5
Parker is a safer bet to go 110, But Duncan could go huge
neither will go 110
Parker could easily go 110 he will never get tagged, can kick goals and collect contested and uncontested possessions.
Thoughts community?
Def: Houli, Laird, Simpson, Aish, Brown, Broad (Hartley, Collins)
Mid: Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, Gaz, Rocky, Libba, Mills, Parish (Gresham, Cuningham, Mathieson)
Ruc: Martin, Gawn (Grimley)
Fwd: Chopsticks, Barlow, Buddy, McCarthy, Kerridge, Petracca (Cox, Kommer)
I have Martin & Barlow as f1 & f2 who is who does the community have at f3 at the moment?
Depending on how much you have try go a zach merrett type player, or if you don't have as much wells is my f4
Tippett
I have $488k but just trying to get my head around who to pick!
I have Toby Greene at the moment, but still very much up in the air!
Zorko toe Ragnificent
I'm rolling with Z. Merret as my F3 at this stage, could well change, but he looks great.
Devon Smith.
F3 – M.Robinson,F4 – Z.Merret
I love the lions and Im a huge robinson fan, probably one of my favourite players getting around at the moment, but I cant see him going top 6 forwards this year, and for a few thousand coins either side of his price tag there is better options for loop hole vice captains
I like. Both quite relevant this year.
Thaughts guys team so far
Laird bartel rosa smith brown, rookies
Fyfe ablett rocky parker libba crouch. Rookies
Nic nat smith
Barlow wingard zorko green wells rookies
Not sure on lib n crouch or the 2 smiths
GUNS and Rookies!
DEF: Rance, Laird, Simpson, Wietering, Tucker, Byrne-jones, hartley, collins
MID: Fyfe, Dangerfield, Ablett, Rockliff, Libba, Mills, Parish, Gore, Gresham, Petracca, Mathieson,
RUCK: Goldy, Gawn, Michael
FORWARD: Dusty, Zorko, Barlow, J.Reiwodlt, Kerridge, M.Brown, Grimley, Cox
KEEPERS: 13
MID PRICE – 1
ROOKIES – 16. 8 on field
changed J,Reiwoldt for Westhoff, port has an amazing early draw and he has a huge ceiling
Can i ask why have michael in the ruck with grimley and cox in the fwd line? Michael has no dpp and Cox would be better suited as r3 then get a rookie fwd who will play.
Yeah beast is right Haydos, throw Grimley or Cox in at r3 then pick yourself up another FWD rookie that will make more cash for you.
Nice team. 13 keepers? I count 14. Libba will be a keeper!
Stef Martin, KK, Gawn OR Goldstein, Laird, Z.smith
Weitering played one practice game against a b-team and he's already in a lot of sides… Been playing SC too long for fall for that. Massive no, especially when there are cheaper, non KPP rookies that don't play for Carlton putting their hands up
can you give some reasoning as to why you wouldnt pick him? number one draft pick, and slots straight into a depleted carlton line up. Clean hands and loves an intercept mark. Also interested to see who you think the value defender rookies are? Cheers Kev
has to be watched the next game looked good though and the way he plays its only going to help the ball been down there so much
G'day BigHaydos, seeing you a bit around the forums, loving your contribution to the site.
Few reasons I'm not selecting him. Firstly, KPP is the big one. Even our big gun KPP's struggle for consistency, tough ask to expect that from a first year rookie.
Secondly, using history as a guide, big number 1 draft picks have rarely faired well in their first season. McCartin, Boyd, Patton, Watts, NRoo have gone at number 1 since 2000. In their first year they've only played a handful of games. Blues will play him because they've got not much else in cupboard, but they'll manage his playing load carefully.
Thirdly, what's his role at Carlton and in your SC team? That footy nous to know when to leave your opponent for the ball doesn't happen at 18 years old, and in SC, he's 220k. Which is a hell of a lot. I've used the salary calculator over at a rival site (sorry Jock!). If he averages 70 (which is generous) up until his round 13 bye he'll be 336k. A 60-65 average has him at 293k-313k
All that said I'm excited to see him out there, just he won't be making an appearance in my team
GDay Kev just wondering what site you can calculate salary on???
Weitering still worth keeping a close eye on in NAB 3. If he backs it up, then he should be worth considering. He is certainly not in my side at this stage, but that could change. In any case, the footy should be down Carlton's defensive end A LOT this season. That should bring opportunities for him. Cheers
Kev is right. Selecting Weitering breaks at least 4 of my 10 Supercoach rules.
The only thing he has going for him is that he is in the defence of a poor team.
The ball will probably be spending a lot of time in the Carlton backline this year. Weitering may play quarterback role with his clean ball use and ability to grab intercept marks makes him quite fantasy relevant.
I prefer HOWE over Weitering & Whitecross
I've got him too, haven't seen a word said by anyone about him! Seen him play in launceston, looks a future jet
Thoughts on Rance?
Yep will be top 6 defender. Only KPP I'm considering
As my reply to u above beast I'll probably start him.
not starting with him but im sure i will be trying to trade him in at some point. Will be a good POD early on.
Thoughts on Daniel Menzel?
Quality player, could be anything if he gets a fair crack at it. Not sure what his pricetag is, but he is a good selection IMO.
I have picked Menzel over Simpkin at this stage. Menzel is a gun. At 260K he is 37K more expensive than Simpkin. But after what I saw this weekend, the extra cash to get Menzel is worth it. He is obviously more injury prone, but if I he can stay on the park for a few months he would have pumped out some very big scores and done his job. A calculated risk worth taking. Cheers
Cheers guys!
Quality review as always, interesting the De gooey mention – looked dynamite the other night, but i agree that with so many players to come back in his role in the midfield is uncertain. Don't think theres been a time while I've played super coach seriously where we had so many ruck rookie options!! Love the look of Cox but again look who comes back in – moore, cloke, and then there is the fact that corey Gault played an absolute rip snorter of a half of football!! Based on my picks last season I'm backing in my gut feelings as I missed out early rounds, so personally I'm feeling big seasons from both Mitch Robinson and Jack Viney.
Also, some advice I received on this page a while back that helped me out a lot when it came to initial team selections.. STRUCTURES! Get that down pat and it really does simplify a lot of super coach. Then it is just a matter of working out whether you want a Fyfe or a Danger… or BOTH!!
Thoughts and advice wanted for my team!
keeping rookies to myself 😉
B: Laird, KK, Doc, Burgoyne, Weitering, M. Brown (ess) (2 rookies)
M: Danger, Pendles, GAJ, Rockliff, Libba, Mills, Parish, Menadue (3 Rookies)
R: Goldy, Nic Nat (M.Cox)
F: Martin, Barlow, Cyril, Simpkin, Milera, Kerridge (2 Rookies)
I know the forward line is weak and that will be the first thing upgraded in season if this is my team. Thank in advance
Not bad, personally wouldn't touch Cyril for the life of me.
Burgoyne is interesting, haven't seen him in many teams. Seems super consistent, the only problem is he plays in a team who share the ball around a lot and hence doesn't get those monster scores. I see burgoyne averaging 80-90.
trying to go for a bit of POD with both of the mentioned players here, still having doubts on both of them.
not sure if a bartel or a rich would be better for Burgoyne
or maybe a chad wingard for Cyril?
still a few decisions before the season!
Thanks guys 🙂
I'd honestly pick someone like a Bartel over Burgoyne, but if you're going for a POD then the best of luck of to you.
Yeah I am starting to think that will be that safer option! thanks 🙂
If Mitchell, Lewis or Hodge gets injured, then you should consider the silky one. He doesn't really play in the guts much anymore. last year whenever one of the other three didn't play, Burgoynes numbers were outstanding, otherwise he will be 65-70 this year.
and Lewis does get reported atleast 7 times a year 😉 haha
Def: Laird, Bartel, Yeo, B. Smith, Malceski, M. Brown (Ess), (M. Brown (WC), Hartley)
Mid: Fyfe, Ablett, Rockliff, Parker, Liberatore, B. Crouch, Parish, Gresham (Gore, Cuningham, Mathieson)
Ruck: Martin, Naitanui (Cox)
For: Martin, Barlow, Greene, Wells, Simpkin, Kerridge (Petracca, Grimley)
Any suggestions are welcome 🙂
I wouldn't touch Smith at this stage, hasn't proven anything this pre season.
surely he will bounce back at some stage, mate?
I thought the same, but just doesn't seem to be getting that running half back role anymore we were used too.
seems to be playing up the ground a lot more and not helping us Supercoaches 🙁
That was a common and frustrating theme last year.
You have spent a lot of money in the backline, id suggest downgrading Malceski to a rookie.
This will allow you to upgrade maybe a Greene to a full Premo forward, Unless you are happy with Greene that is 😉 ive had him in and out of my team but thought to go with the Premo option.
Good team though 🙂
i've thought that too mate, but there don't seem to be too many good rookies in the backline so i'd rather field more mid and forward rookies who are more likely to score well
i like your team but i question the backline. Yeo Smith and Malceski are risks. They could have great years but doubtful all will. Id select 1, maybe 2 because if they all fail to fire, you will struggle for the rest of the year trying to correct it.
Any advice much appreciated. Stuff all cash left.
D: Shaw, laird, bartel, aish, byrne-jones, brown (ess). Hibberd, broad.
M: fyfe, Dangerfield, Ablett, rockliff, parker, libba, mills, parish. Keays, mathieson, McPherson.
R: goldy, gawn. Grimley.
F: Barlow, zmerrett, Greene, wells, kerridge, petracca. Cox, mcdonald-tip.
Do I downgrade Shaw to to someone like simpson and upgrade a merrett or Greene to a dusty? Like the merrett selection as a bit of POD and he has been in my team since the first draft.
My evaluation of this year's SuperCoach crop is as follows:
1. Midfield will likely look similar for most teams but a plethora of options to score well. So it'll be easy to pick.
2. Defence could make-or-break our seasons. So, we may have to stay with the tried-and-true.
3. The Forward line has enough value available to maintain interest but enough traps to separate the good from the great players.
4. Like the Ruck, could make or break our seasons. There are a dearth of value so, the set and forget may be best. A saying comes to mind that just because somethings good doesn't mean it is better or best for us. For example, just because Lobbe's gonna play doesn't mean we should pick him over Goldstein.
If we use our common sense, we shall do well.
POD players will be huge this year, like you said a lot of mids will look the same, so getting those POD will separate the good from the best!
avoiding those traps and picking the correct PODs is whats its about this year in my opinion!
Love ya work buddy
Thoughts on my team? Any comments would be appreciated 🙂

Fwd:

18.7k left in the bank, am kinda feeling like im going to miss out on both the crouch brothers and J.O'Meara, but i feel like this team should do alright, and im hoping D.Wells can prove to be a bit of a POD, and ill probably upgrade him later in the year.
I think you've spent a bit too much $$ in the mids, id downgrade Yeo to a rookie and spend a bit more in the back line.
id also put petracca in the FWD, there is better options in the mid to replace him.
also swap grimley with cox to strengen the forward line as grimley will probably have a better chance at round 1.
that's only my opinion so take it as you please 🙂
Thanks adsy 🙂 what midfield rookies did you have in mind to replace petracca?
Mathieson, lock him in.
well you could go Parish who will more than likely play round 1 due to the Essendon scandal that's if you have the $$, or you could go a cheaper option ive liked Menadue, Gresham, Mathieson and Macpherson over the NAB, just keep watching the rookies over the rest of the NAB and choose a player that you like that features in the round 1 line ups 🙂
Changed around some players, this is the new lineup, anything else you can suggest?

H.Bennell, C.Wingard, M.Barlow, C.Petracca, M.Adams, M.Brown (ESS), (N.Kommer, M.Cox)
I still think there is abit too much spent in the middle, id downgrade either parker or wines to another rookie and spend a little bit more in backline or forward line.
M.Brown (W/C) he will play games but he wont have much effect on a SC side. change him.
your premium players are good selections but maybe change a few rookies after NAB and round 1 teams are out.
watch Bennell closely.
don't forget to swap grimley and Cox to have another scoring player at FWD
you wont need a scoring emergency ruck with that combination.
Thanks again adsy, switched brown (WC) to Weitering, although im very unsure, as i dont think he is worth the 220k, im still toying around with my team as we speak, i also switched barlow to Z.Merret and goldstein to S.Martin, with the idea that ill sideways trade him to goldstein when his price drops. Im also very conflicted as to whether i downgrade L.Parker or O.Wines, both look very good this year, who would you recommend?
for me too much spent in the midfield with Danger, Ablett and pendles downgrade one of them for a Parker and Yeo is an awkward midfielder much rather rate him as a defender
Need some help community.
Pendles and Merrett/Franklin
or
Parker and Montagna.
Leaning towards option 2, but not sure if Parker is going to be a top 10 mid.
Well will Merret/Franklin be a top 10 forward?
I'm not sure, I can see them averaging 90-100 but not sure if they will get there.
What are your thoughts?
Not a fan of Montagna
personal view Pendles and Merrett but there are much better options out
I'm assuming one is forward and other midfield. How about a bit of Dusty and Parker which generates cash for an upgrade somewhere else
Good luck buddy
Already have Dusty. ho do you suggest then, you have 1,135,000 to choose to players.
I have Danger, Fyfe, rocky, Gaj in the mids, then Dusty and Barlow in the forward line.
Lobb?
Lobbe is obviously a trap but what about Rory?
McCarthy is still at home in WA, Cameron has a young Jack Riewaldt attitude and is consistently breaking down and, Giants need a permanent structure up front, Rory is the current and obvious choice. Add his ruck capacity when mummy is busted or resting and his Team High 105 SC points in NAB1 and suddenly the next giants game has significant supercoach relevance.
Thoughts on my team fellas
DEF: Kolodashnij, bartel, birchall, aish, dea, brown (tucker, bonner)
MID: Fyfe, dangerield, gablett, rockliff, libba crocuh, parish, gresahm(MEngeola, phillips, long)
RUCK: Goldstein, nic nat (cox)
FWD: MArtin. barlow, z mrret, jack billings, petracca, kerridge (grimley, kommer)
Thoughts would be much appreciated!
and also don't know about millings could get rid of him for wells then go crouch to parker – cheers fellas
Need some help
Rate my team if you could
Backline
Laird, Yeo, Rich, Weitering, Dea, Brown (bombers) (Bonner, Broad)
Midfield
Fyfe, Ablett (c), Josh Kennedy, Rocky, Parker, Libba, B.Crouch, Parish (Petracca, Keays, Mathieson)
Ruck
Goldy, Z.Smith (Grimley)
Forward
Dusty, Barlow, Greene, Conca, Simpkin, Kerridge (Komner, Cox)
Too many mid-pricers for me, I would personally look at downgrading and upgrading a couple.
Not sure about parish and weitering, just statistically most number 1 draft picks havent been very good for SC, and i cant see them scoring any better than a rookie, id downgrade them both to 100-125k rookies and upgrade z.smith if possible, just tthought id help you out as well considering you helped on mine 🙂
Team keeps changing. Must stop. Any comments welcome.
DEF Laird, Rampe, Sheridan, Weitering, M Brown (E), S Collins, (K Collins, Hartley)
MID Fyfe, Ablett, Kennedy, Rockliff, M Crouch, Libba, Trengove, Kerridge (Petracca, Mathieson, Hibberd)

G'day community, would love any thoughts, ideas, or opinions on my lineup. Cheers!
Def: Shaw, KK, Yeo, Smith, Dea, Broad (Brown,K.Collins)
Mids: Pendles, Ablett, Rocky, Parker, Libba, Jaeger (needs to go), Parish, Cuningham (Gore, Mathieson, Keays)

Fwds: Martin, Daulhouse, Greene, C.Ellis (not sure), Kerridge, Petracca. ( Brown, Grimely)
Have $132,700 in the bank, thinking maybe upping Parker to danger, if I have enough, or turning Jaeger into a premo. Cheers!!
Should go with Gawn he will free up 50 K?
Yeah mate spot on, done! Cheers
agree with Magpie, Goldy n Martin have the same bye
who would be the better pick:
De Goey or Menzel
IMO De Goey
I loved the look of de goey on friday night! Will be a great player in a few years! The question is can he score that big and play that much midfield time with treloar and pendles in the team?
Daniel Menzel (260k) is a very special player. When fit, he can crack massive SC scores. After his performance last weekend, you have to take notice.
De Goey- (318K) is ticking all the boxes. He has DPP status. His form in the Collingwood midfield after last weekend you have to a take serious notice.
For my side, I am leaning towards Menzel and is currently in. (Over Simpkin) De Goey is out of reach pricewise for my team. Hopefully, either pick will be a good pick. Cheers.
De Goey, but I don't have either atm
De Goey. Easily
Thoughts?
Laird, KK, Bartel, Smith, M.Brown, Byrne (Tucker, Hibberd)
Fyfe, Ablett, Mitchell, Rockliff, Parker, Liberatore, B.Crouch, Trengove (Keays, Long, MacPherson)
Goldstein, Leuenberger (Michael)
Martin, Barlow, Bell, De Goey, Kerridge, Petrecca (Grimley, Silvagni)
Not sure about Leuenberger, i know the coach has endorsed him but i can't him, cheers
Thoughts on this team please
Backs …….. Laird Sherridan Suckling Weitering Brown (Ess) Hartley ………… K.Collins Cole
Mids…… Fyfe Danger GAJ Priddis Rocky Libba Mills Parish…….. Mathieson Phillips Hibberd
Rucks…….. Tonto Goldstein…… Gawn ……. Wyatt
Fwds….. Martin Barlow Z. Merrett Stringer Kerridge Petracca………… Grimley Skinner
Would love feedback guys…
Im liking this team
Im thinking your mid is a little too strong which is sacrificing your backline
Id downgrade one of your premo mids to a rookie to upgrade suckling to a premo back like kk and should leave you with alot of cash, you might be able to upgrade merrett or stringer to another premo fwd 🙂 y
Thanks Average Adsy for your input,,, will tweek it around a little..
No worries mate! Glad to try and help.
Don't spend big in the mid, thats where all the rookies with best cash generation usually are. Upgrade your backline.
Thanks , SC Beast have upgraded backline to Boyd,, Laird ,, Rance
Like it. Not sure mills will play too many consecutive games when injuries recover but can play. Watch Petracca may not play early
I need a defender in between 390k and 470k. Any ideas???
Bartel, burgoyne, birchall, rich or yeo?
I'm looking at McGovern as a bit of a pod James. Eagles have a few big boys back and he can play a bit more of a utility role. Proven scorer when not locking down an opponent not sure of any current injury concerns?
Suckling looks pretty good and i think the dogs will want the pill in his hands a lot $396,500 represents value for mine will average 80-85 i imagine.
Suckling, Sheridan
Ive been big on Viney all preseason. Reckon he can easily go a 105-109 average this year. Dont have the balls to pick him though.
I just put him. Same as you been considering him. I have looked at all the teams posted here and they are all so similar. So Viney is my POD. If only because I want to be different
Pops "Nut Sack" Kelly!
Not sold on any defenders to be honest. Downgraded B Smith to Weitering. Thinking he will at least make more cash since I get the feeling I'd have to upgrade Smith later on anyway. So now I have KK, Barrel, Birchall, Weitering. Too light on?
How much you hoping weitering will make?
not to light on Steeeve. Just make sure you have another 2 rookies in your team you feel confident will play all season otherwise i see a lot of donuts early for you.
Best mid priced forward?
Degoey
Is it crazy to consider Liam Shiels or Jack Viney or Brendon Goddard
To be a premo this season?
Viney
Luke Parker same price range more upside!
Houli,Bartel,Yeo,Howe,Silvagni,Brown, (Bryne-Jones,J.Joyce)
Fyfe,Pendles,GAJ,Hannebery,Priddis,Rocky,Liberatore,O'Meara (Cunningham,Keays,Macpherson)
Gawn,Grimley (Cox)
Gunston,Barlow,Franklin,Simpkin,Menadue,Kerridge (Kommer,Petracca)
Thoughts on my team? Any comments would be appreciated I really need some help on this team any ideas?
at your M8 possie…. B crouch in for O'meara (as omeara isnt 100% fit and likely still injured)
possible watch list for your F4 possie is:
B kennedy from melbourne, couldnt get a run at pies and a vfl beast when in 2's. also scored 90 for melb other day in nab. also, milera for crows as other possible option – looks the goods, scored well for a rookie.
gives you some possible changes to tweak in the F4 role 🙂
