NAB ANALYSIS: Fremantle v Adelaide

Published by Jock on

Jock Reynolds Coach Kings

Can Matt Crouch collect the pill or what?

We’ve all been gagging to hear news on his brother Brad who is up against it to be ready for Round 1. In the meantime Matt has emerged with consecutive NAB performances in which he’s had the thing on a string.

Significant outs:

Fremantle: David Mundy, Hayden Ballantyne, Harley Bennell, Zac Clarke

Adelaide: Eddie Betts, Brad Crouch, Sam Jacobs, Scott Thompson, Taylor Walker

Matt Crouch MID $368K ran all day and walked off with red Sherrin stained palms. Very difficult proposition at this price and with uncertainty around where he fits in an Adelaide team with a full team on the deck. Interested in your thoughts on this one community – who has him in the crosshairs as a midpriced mid option? 26 disposals with an arousing 17 of them being kicks.

Rory Laird DEF $506K killed them across half back. Had 29 possessions at 90% efficiency and appears to have added some condition onto that torso of his. A genuine DEF premium option for mine after this performance. He is making it very difficult to lock in Brodie Smith with any confidence – Laird now looks the obvious half back running option at Adelaide. Has a well rounded complete game and was so bloody clean with his disposal today. Would not be surprised if he improves on his 2015 breakout Supercoach average of 93 last year. Consider.

Brodie Smith DEF/MID $415K had 34 Supercoach points to half time but didn’t take part in the game after that. Word is he was crook in the rooms – could have been a bit of heat stress. Not a good sign given how many whacks he copped to the scone last year. Drifting quickly off my DEF watchlist now.

Paul Seedsman DEF/MID $324K did a few nice things – looked bloody great drilling one onto Sloane’s tit for a goal at one point and drilled the ball inside the forward 50 six times. Improved as the game wore on. Have not seen enough to get me aroused. No for me at this stage. 15 disposals today.

Dean Gore MID $124K impressed me last week so was looking forward to seeing that neon red head of his trotting around today. Sat his arse on the bench till half time and only collected the 4 handballs for the game. Impressed by his brilliant tackling in the dying seconds of the game when the win was on the line. Might be just a bees dick away from best 22 at this stage.

Wayne Milera FWD $176K had 52 Supercoach points to half time and continues to impress. The kid is so clean, calm and cool under pressure. A hell of a pick up for Adelaide. Had a spell off the ground after half time but returned later on to continue on his way just how he left off. Will find himself into plenty of teams nonetheless. 9 touches and 5 marks.

Troy Menzel was quiet and won’t justify his price tag as a midpriced forward. Rory Sloane eased into the season beautifully and was as prolific as always. Can’t wait to see how he gets on without Danger in the guts. Rory Atkins put his hand up once again for some midfield time for the Crows with 24 posessions and will tempt some as a $303K Supercoach midfield option.

Nat Fyfe MID $670K was majestic. Absolutely majestic. Don’t worry about that injury cloud hanging over him – he is cherry ripe and good to go. 26 disposals and 10 clearances to this beautiful beast. I’d spoon him without thinking about it twice.

Michael Barlow FWD/MID $503K  lined up in a stack of centre bounces which is what we want to see. Remains locked pretty solidly into my starting FWD line in all formats. 19 possessions including 8 tackles.

Tommy Sheridan DEF $351K continued on after a solid NAB1 with a cracking performance here today. Probably needs to hit our watch lists coming into round 1 community. A massive 28 possessions at 90% DE. Was constructive and efficient with his ball use all day. An emerging human of fantasy significance.

Zac Dawson DEF $222K had 3 telling uncontested handballs. Not hard to see why Ross has rated him so highly during his time at St. Kilda and moved heaven and earth to get him to Fremantle.

Now I’ve started hitting the piss so I’ll pass it on over to you community. What did you extract from the game?

Saalih · 28/02/2016 at 19:04

def; simpson, gibson, bartel, birchall, brown, hartley (hibberd, k.collins)
mid: pendlebury, gazza, selwood, rockliff, wines, libba, kerridge, gore (trnegove, mathieson, macpherson)
ruc; goldstein, lobbe (cox)
fwd: gunston, barlow, greene, stringer, menadue, petracca (kommer, grimley)

i have 91k in the bank and there are a couple of players im considering but i wasnt to impressed with wines yesterday so may look to replace him bu im not sure to whom, i am also looking to get another 500k+ fwd and have my eyes on rioli, wingard zorko and martin but i am open to options, and of course i am looking to try and get the best rookies so if any of you have tips it would be most appreciated.

    Mark · 28/02/2016 at 19:12

Hartley from bombers as a D7-8 instead of hibbered

    Korza · 28/02/2016 at 19:28

Was there anything else you need ?

    Bone crusher · 28/02/2016 at 19:28

Hi Saalih I would Serouisly get rid of petracca toe is going to be a worry also avoid Trengove he won't play at all Bartel dissapointed in NAB one and is a massive risk! Lobbe is a trap for only 40 grand more you can get Zac Smith and he will break out this year. Some rookie advice, I'd get sam Kerriage absolute lock, and one that not to many people will pick up on is Lincoln McCarthy killed in NAB 1 watch him I tell yah. And also Mitch Brown lock will play and will score rookie that can be on the field? And get Martain priced to max but will not dissapoint.

      rowdz · 28/02/2016 at 19:40

Lets try and keep it that way re L McCarthy

      Sarah · 28/02/2016 at 20:14

Bartel was very disappointing because he didn't play!!! Bit hard to have an impact on a game when you're watching from the stands!

        Saalih · 28/02/2016 at 20:36

I'm tempted to move wines to Sloane and Birchall to laird, also considering moving Bartel to johanison as I have a good feeling about him. Btw guys I have hartley brown and kerridge and I don't want to assume to many things based off of one game especially when teams aren't playing with normal intensity and teams are weakened.

The reason I'm picking Trengove is because even though he has only played 2 games in 2 seasons and is risky is because if he gets even close to his best, he will be a cash cow and will be an amazing rookie pod and all I want is an average of 70. And haven't heard much on petraccas toe? Any news and I've heard he had an uninterrupted pre season. Also looking to move lobe to Gawn if I can get the cash

          SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 21:12

If Trengove plays Rd1 he'll almost certainly make my team.

Would be nice if he played at least one NAB but it's really all about the Dees' first game on March 26.

          LuskinStar · 28/02/2016 at 22:05

Dont swap wines to sloane based on Nab. With dangerfield gone i think sloanes scores will suffer and i wouldnt judge wines on that 1 game

        Josh · 28/02/2016 at 22:09

      Ethan017 · 29/02/2016 at 09:45

Petracca should be right to go for round 1
Lobbe has averaged 100+ in other years and Smith won't be the number one ruck.
Much better options then Lincoln McCarthy

West · 28/02/2016 at 19:11

more people should be talking about Rory Laird. Absolute gun.

    Saalih · 28/02/2016 at 19:12

had him last year and was magnificent, relatively consistent so may move birchall to him, plus with jaensch gone opens up more space for him so imo he is 95% a lock

      DuckingTigers · 28/02/2016 at 21:05

A 95% lock that isn't actually in your team yet.

        Saalih · 28/02/2016 at 21:15

I'm moving birchall to laird and I made the team before the adelaide game but after seeing him today he is in. Also I wanted to see people's thoughts on that team and I will ask in a few days when I make a new as I'm sure everyone's team is changing rapidly.

          Jake · 29/02/2016 at 08:57

I've got Birchall and Laird. Had Docherty too, but moved to Kade Simpson as my third premo for an ultra consistent defence

    jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:29

starting to agree with ya Westy – was brilliant today

    Titan · 28/02/2016 at 21:04

    All over him
    D1 for me
Been like that for a few weeks now

SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:12

Fyfe is locked in now. Laird is my D2 at the moment. I'm seriously considering Sheridan as my D4 but I cannot fit him in. Everyone should have Barlow locked in.

Eddie · 28/02/2016 at 19:13

What are everyone's thoughts? Stringer or Betts in SuperCoach..?

    Jai · 28/02/2016 at 19:23

Im a Crows fan but Stringer. You'd say he is on the improve whereas its doubtful Eddie has another level on last years performance

    Bone crusher · 28/02/2016 at 19:31

Neither both to pricey and won't score much do fro maybe Daniel Menzel and only $250 bargain and killed it in NAB 1

      Eddie · 28/02/2016 at 19:33

      Got Menz as 4th forward!

      Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:57

Menzel should be a lock for everyone. Obviously his injuries are concerning, but he is capable of some epic scores.

    BundyBear · 28/02/2016 at 19:43

    Stringer for mine.

    LuskinStar · 28/02/2016 at 22:07

I think there are better options than both of them at a similar price

    SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 22:18

I'm a neither man as well as I believe there are just better options for around the same clams.

Korza · 28/02/2016 at 19:14

Sheridan vs Johanisin as my pods in def. Thanks for the Sheridan analysis you prick.
1st post, long time guest.

Grove St · 28/02/2016 at 19:16

Fyfe has just made me rethink my whole bloody team! Surely he won't play every game with a bulging disc!?

    Holty · 28/02/2016 at 19:54

its a tough one. you will regret it if you dont have him early but you regret it when he injures himself and misses games knowing he hasnt played 20 games in in a season in his last 3. im a firm believer you dont pick someone (ie; Beams) who you dont think will get through the whole season. But this is Fyfe. And as Lek will say 'Fyfe is life'.

SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:19

Will Mcdonald-Tipungwuti play?

    Phil · 28/02/2016 at 19:41

I think he will buddy, if not Round 1 then very soon after I think. The crowd absolutely loves hims, he will add a bit of excitement and get bomber fans to the footy….I don't think we seen the best of him today, so hopefully he gives us more next week.

    REN · 28/02/2016 at 19:44

I reckon he will. Adds a lot of X-Factor to the team

Jai · 28/02/2016 at 19:20

Haha love the Zac Dawson review Jock = significant POD breakout bloody lock DPP swingman loophole cashcow

    Derek · 28/02/2016 at 19:51

I hear Zac is having a huge pre season. May even have been training with the midfield group

      The Ranger · 28/02/2016 at 20:02

Nah it was with the forwards, Ross is gonna use him as a dangerous swingman.
      He's a lock for my F9 spot.

        jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:30

I heard he'll use him both as a running loose man off half back changing into the midfield this year. Could be anything

          Derek · 28/02/2016 at 20:51

He is locked in as my D9

            DuckingTigers · 28/02/2016 at 21:10

With no real standouts for captaincy this year there could be some relevance for Zac.

          Jai · 29/02/2016 at 15:28

          haha classic

SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:21

bartel or kk?

    Jai · 28/02/2016 at 19:22

    Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:50

Pondering the same question. Is Bartel still a lock you reckon? I think I still take Bartel.

    LuskinStar · 28/02/2016 at 22:38

Only one of them has improvement in him

tophawk · 28/02/2016 at 19:24

Who would be the best rookie ruckman at the moment, which is likely to picked for round 1?

    Mike · 28/02/2016 at 19:32

    El Zilcho
No rookie ruckman will play much at all these days. The most you can hope for is a game here or there.
Hence everyone picking premo, dependable and durable rucks like Goldie and Maric/Martin/Jacobs.

      tophawk · 28/02/2016 at 19:36

Thats what I thought. Will have to cough up the coin to cover both positions. Goldy a lock.

    Gord29 · 28/02/2016 at 19:34

      SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:39

Grimley will be the closest. Depending on how much you wish to spend, West and Currie could line up. If your going set and forget rucks you don't really need one, but if your going for a mid pricer it mightn't be a bad idea to get fwd coverage like a Sinclair or Lycett, even a Tippet.

    Phil · 28/02/2016 at 19:44

Honestly, if Leuy doesn't play Round 1 Michael (based on today) would be by far the best pick. The kid looked big and moved very well, be interesting to see how he goes against a good ruckman but I'd say he would be ahead of Jamar who is a fair bit behind fitness wise. I think I'll lock him in at R3 and ignore the loophole.

      jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:31

Agree Phil. Was ultra impressive and moves bloody well

    Average Joe · 28/02/2016 at 22:41

Mason Cox looks like he might get a game early

Gaveday · 28/02/2016 at 19:28

Couch in my team to mould around the extra 50 odd K needed for him. Will downgrade to his brother in a heartbeat- but I guess we have to pick our squad with "definite" in mind.
Also ready for the mad dash for wifi on a Thursday night……

    Phil · 28/02/2016 at 19:47

It's tempting but I think his numbers will come down once his bro and Thompson are in.

      Gaveday · 28/02/2016 at 20:07

I'll just make do with him in, and if his brother gets fit, swap him out. But I must say he's proving to be a magnet and it's hard to ignore.

Simon · 28/02/2016 at 19:28

What 2 out of Fyfe danger and Pendles

    tophawk · 28/02/2016 at 19:30

Fyfe and Danger. lock and lock.

    Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:34

Danger and Fyfe I reckon. I'm off Pendles as a starting mid this year. Might upgrade later.

      SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:41

Fyfe and Danger. Pendles may not score as well with the introduction of Trelaor and midfield rotations may hurt him due to Sidey, Swan, Aish, Crisp. Adams, De Goey and co running through there at different stages.

    Holty · 28/02/2016 at 20:05

    id say Pendles and fyfe.

    DuckingTigers · 28/02/2016 at 21:18

Fyfe has a back concern. Danger and Pendles are fully fit, as far as we know. Fyfe doesn't seem too hampered at the moment but that's a risk you'll need to accept if you take him on. Risk versus reward as always.

    Redgumwon · 28/02/2016 at 21:45

Why not all 3? Fyfe, Danger, Pendles and through in GAJ? I think I'm going to try and get all 4 in if I can

      Valks · 29/02/2016 at 07:12

Big spending in the mids. What sort of structure are you risking in other lines? What's your team like atm?

        Redgumwon · 29/02/2016 at 12:37

Right at this moment my side is
Backs: Laird, Bartel, Rosa, Sheridan, Brown (Ess) Hartley, Broad, Collins
Mids: Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, GAJ, Viney, Libba, Mills, Kerridge, Gore, Maithieson. Keays
        Rucks: Martin, Gawn. Cox
Fwd: Dusty, Barlow, Greene, Simpkin, Kennedy (Melb) Milera, Petracca, Grimlley

Rookie are subject to change like everyone else at this stage.

I'm hoping that Simpkin & Kennedy can average between 70 & 80 and make enough points to up grade later on. I think Viney might have a break out year so I can expect between 90 and 100+ points from him.

I can take out Martin and replace him with Nic Nat if I really want to.

I'll just keep an eye on how things go over the next couple of weeks and see who I keep or take out. If it's not working then I can take out either Pendles or GAJ if need be and bring in Rocky or Parker

        What you think?

Ben · 28/02/2016 at 19:29

I'd say Talia would be a significant out also…

Abraxas · 28/02/2016 at 19:40

Zorko or Barlow Community?

    SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 19:48

I currently have both locked in at F2 and F3 respectively.

    Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:49

I think both. But to answer your question, Zorko. I reckon his ceiling is higher and he'll have a consistent year.

    Derek · 28/02/2016 at 19:53

    Winker for sure

      Abraxas · 28/02/2016 at 20:05

      Cheers guys!

Kegzlegs · 28/02/2016 at 19:47

Can I have both Tom Mitchell and Luke Parker in my team or do I have to pick?

    Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:54

Take both. Who cares. I would but I've taken Shiel ahead of Mitchell this year.

    Holty · 28/02/2016 at 20:12

Look at how sydneys midfield finished last year. Ive even tossed up starting with those 2 and JPK. somehow, (include Hannebery in the discussion) they all score well

    wombatsfc · 28/02/2016 at 20:30

Hi Keg, I checked the rules mate and there isn't any specific mention about having Parker and Mitchell. There isn't any rule about having two mids from the same team either. In fact you could have your whole team made up of swans just make sure you don't choose the 102k ones they're rookies and need to be upgraded before they play.

    Spifflicator · 29/02/2016 at 07:20

No, they are both guns but I think they take points off each other in that midfield. I am leaving the swans mids alone for round one, and will upgrade to them later in the year.

Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:48

With the emergence of some form defenders so far this NAB, would Bartel still be considered a lock? I know it's difficult to assess that right now, but it's interesting. He's reasonably priced, we know what he can do, but will he be managed through 2016? Is it worth going a KK/Docherty/Laird/etc instead?

    Glenn · 29/02/2016 at 11:55

No Bartel aint no lock! Seedsman and Johannisen havent been cosidered by many and are doing better than Brody Bloody Smith!? Marley Williams can go another 8 better on his average too!

Fox · 28/02/2016 at 19:48

have not likes smith 1 bit in 2 nab matches ! Seriously considering Sutcliffe or Sheridan as d4 now !

    Eric_the_Red · 28/02/2016 at 19:54

Sheridan for sure. Smith hasn't done enough. Am keen to see a bit of RIch too.

    Swans2012 · 28/02/2016 at 20:57

    Agree, considering the Sheridan path

    Leeds17 · 28/02/2016 at 21:16

Give Smith one more NAB game only played 29% game time today,

      Swans2012 · 28/02/2016 at 21:32

Thanks Leeds gives a bit of perspective….but still laird looks the one for the crows

    Glenn · 29/02/2016 at 11:59

Ewing · 28/02/2016 at 19:57

Thoughts on my team
Def: KK, Bartel, Rich, Aish, Brown, Hartley/// Bonner, Collins

Mid: Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, Cripps, Liberatore, Gresham, Kerridge// Gore, Cunningham,Mathieson

Ruck: Martin,Gawn/// Wyatt

Forward: Martin, Wingard, Barlow, Greene, Millera, Cockatoo// Petracca, Grimley

    SC_Beast · 28/02/2016 at 20:02

Only thing is your backline is a bit iffy IMO. KK and Rich – Not sold on either at this stage.

      Holty · 28/02/2016 at 20:21

not sold on them either but who are we sold on? Laird was not on my rador i must admit but certainly is now after his 2 matches.

      Derek · 28/02/2016 at 20:27

I think Rick is orth the punt, more of a D4 start, I think you need 3 keepers in defence.

I'm tossing up between rich and smith at D4

    tophawk · 28/02/2016 at 20:27

As a bit of a POD play in your backline, perhaps consider Laird over KK, and Sheridan/Johanissen over Rich. Cuningham spudded badly today and may need to be replaced with somebody like Connor Menadue. That said, your side looks impressive. Cheers

      Ewing · 28/02/2016 at 21:40

I only have 700 left so to upgrade my back line id need to downgrade somewhere else and I can't see a good position to do so. Thoughts?

        SC_Beast · 29/02/2016 at 07:15

Pick one of Milera and Cockatoo

wombatsfc · 28/02/2016 at 20:21

I think Brad might be the Nathan Ablett of the crouch family Jock, touted as being the wonder child but eclipsed by the unheralded brother.
He's definitely in my team and looks to have taken Dangerfield's role.

    REN · 28/02/2016 at 20:28

You just have to look at Brads first 2 seasons to realise hes a star

Will play next week and will probably pump out a ton and everyone will be jumping to put him back in their sides

      wombatsfc · 28/02/2016 at 20:35

May have potential but he's a SC dud. Only 25 games in 3-years Zac Dawson almost matched him for points in the same period.

      SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 21:44

It will be interesting to see how things shake out when the two Crouches take to the field. Brad has some catching up to do!

    jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:32

He's certainly risen up my possible's list old mate. Really impressed with him

    John · 28/02/2016 at 22:16

which Crouch is better matt or brad

      @BarronVonCrow · 29/02/2016 at 00:24

Brad. Matt is a one trick kind of guy, he just happens to be REALLY good at it. Brad isn't as good of a inside player, but he's a better all around player, with better disposal.

REN · 28/02/2016 at 20:26

Seriously considering a team with 2 of Grimley, Cox and Sam Michael at R2 and R3

My team just looks so good with it

Someone talk me out of it…

    tophawk · 28/02/2016 at 20:33

Its obviously extremely risky, but the amount of cash it frees up would enable you to get your other lines looking very slick and sharp. Before pulling the trigger on this, I would seriously watch the remaining nab games before making the call. If someone like Michael can play regularly in the bombers team, then you would obviously sacrifice some points , but will be generating cash also. he sacrificed points would be offset with hopefully high scoring on the other lines. Cheers

    jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:35

Gday there Ren – some of these cheap big bastards are certainly putting their hands up. I'd recommend you don't go with a rookie at R2 though mate as tempting as it seems. Last thing you need is a big gaping hole in your ruck diviision early on in the season and sure a buggery that's what will happen if you roll that way. Go a nice solid R2 and stuff your value in down FWD with a few of these Ruck/FWD dpp lads

    Swans2012 · 28/02/2016 at 21:47

Have considered it myself but and its a big but, there's just nowhere to go if two of them starts spudding it and or get dropped. I'm not ruling it out though, especially with a non playing e loopholes to help get the best score….. Big risk, but could work….

      @randomcliche · 28/02/2016 at 23:42

sinclare in fwd line as backup…do it…

        Swans2012 · 29/02/2016 at 08:49

Your meant to be the voice of reason! definately considering but at the end of the day it comes down to getting the highest scoring rookies on the field, if that means playing a rook at r2 I've got no problem with it. will watch remaining nab closely

    SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 22:01

    Just don't do it man!

I'm not sure what else to say. You need to listen to the Father of Fantasy on this one….please for the love of Gary Ablett Snr!

    Phil · 28/02/2016 at 22:01

If you took Michael at R2, Grimley at R3 and if Leuy replaced one of them perhaps you could upgrade to Leuy. Don't think I'll do it because I'm really liking the GoldyGawn combo.

Bobby Singh · 28/02/2016 at 20:28

Sheridan, Smith or Malceski at D4? I'm starting to lean towards Sheridan. Malceski and Smith aren't showing the work rate and producing the points Sheridan is. I would love a few opinions 🙂

    jockreynolds · 28/02/2016 at 20:33

I'd be starting to lean Sheridan as well Bobby. Great to see you in here mate

      Bobby Singh · 28/02/2016 at 20:37

      Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

        Derek · 28/02/2016 at 20:46

No one is looking at Van Berlo. $350k. Had two good NAB games

          SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 21:38

Mainly because he verged on burnman credentials in 2015. Just talk to the coaches who started with him over Cripps!

Was pretty good in the NAB last year too IIRC.

@Nars76 · 28/02/2016 at 20:37

After today's performance I am strongly considering putting Steph Curry in my side

    SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 21:40

He'd surely be pretty decent at slotting super goals.

Ben Morton · 28/02/2016 at 20:40

nic nat & lidds or goldy & merrett or buddy or greene or bell?

    Bobby Singh · 28/02/2016 at 20:47

    Goldy and Greene for me.

      Ben Morton · 28/02/2016 at 20:59

Thanks mate. Its just that ive got martin in ruck aswell so they will both be out for the bye rounds…

        Bobby Singh · 28/02/2016 at 21:06

Don't worry, A lot of people including myself have that ruck combo. I prefer having set and forget rucks 🙂

          Ben Morton · 28/02/2016 at 21:23

Thanks ill go with that 🙂

pup · 28/02/2016 at 20:56

is sheridan a good pick or is he just going to turn out like lumuba last year stared in nab then did nothing for the season thoughts community

    Tim · 28/02/2016 at 21:38

    Good question!! Could be a $50,000 question…

      Jess · 28/02/2016 at 22:21

      He will be a lumumba

SC16 · 28/02/2016 at 21:03

Which out of…
Robbie Gray
And any other players you reccomend between 590-450k

    Ben Morton · 28/02/2016 at 21:23

Wines or Parker i would think mate.

    Danny · 28/02/2016 at 21:28

I like wines. Simply for his price. I think he's going to explode soon. Love the kid(and I'm a crows fan)

    Swans2012 · 28/02/2016 at 21:49

    Gray for mine

    John · 28/02/2016 at 21:53

sidebottom been really good every year I've had him, I would definitely go for him

    SC16 · 28/02/2016 at 22:43

I was thinking robbie gray would be the safest but its about taking a risk ay 🙂 cheers boys

    Glenn · 29/02/2016 at 11:10

Mitchy Duncan will out do all these blokes except Robbie Gray!

Danny · 28/02/2016 at 21:25

Any comments on my team would be greatly appreciated.

Laird, Boyd, docherty, smith,Collins, tucker, Byrne, brown.

Ablett, Rockliff, Fyfe, Libba, B.Crouch, wines, gore, mills,Mathieson, Cunningham.

Blicavs, Lobbe, frost, cox.

Martin, Barlow, stringer, petracca, Ellis, Simpkin, hunt, kommer.

Not sold on stringer or smith. Thanks guys

    Shake n bake · 28/02/2016 at 21:55

4 in the ruck? I think you just want cox. It only took 1 game for me to cross Lobbe of my Wishlist!

      Danny · 28/02/2016 at 22:00

Fantasy not SC mate. Haven't done my SC side smith and stringer or Sheridan and Greene?

        Holty · 29/02/2016 at 00:06

lol. this is a supercoach site and dont deal with dreamteam and fantasy. the advice given will probably be poor due to them being completely different games. but i guess this is the best site around so dont blame you being here. This is a ok side if it was supercoach, not sure about fantasy if you want my advice? Fyfe Liba and Wines I wouldnt touch in fantasy as their games dont suit it. They are contested ball winners which doesnt translate to great scoring in fantasy

          Danny · 29/02/2016 at 13:51

Yeah you're spot on mate. Even being a different format you find the best advice here.

Nah they're all still fantasy relevant mate.
Swapped out smith for Sheridan. Stringer for greene

Tim · 28/02/2016 at 21:36

Community, with Sheridan entering sliding up the watch list – it will potentially create a few significant headaches, fitting a mid price gamble into a team.

Do you drop a ultra-premo mid – like Danger down to a Boak to free up the extra $$ to fit him in?

Fyfe and Danger have to almost be locks though after this weekend!

    Tim · 28/02/2016 at 21:43

    At this stage I'm going with Danger/Weitering (F4) or Boak/Sheridan (F4)…

      TRIGGER HAPPY · 29/02/2016 at 10:00

      First one.

Slats · 28/02/2016 at 21:41

Any love for Richard Douglas? Can get the pill & hit the scoreboard. Will be a main stayer mid & under 500k offers great value. Thoughts community

    SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 21:56

If he's not a realistic shot at finishing the season as a top mid he's probably just not worth Supercoach selection as cash generation is likely minimal. Only cracked the ton average once in his career and then only just.

Also has only played 20 games once in the past 5 seasons so the body seems to have trouble holding up now at 29yrs old.

Would be a mega POD though and a pretty ballsy pick if you go that way Slats.

      Slats · 28/02/2016 at 22:02

Cheers, that's enough doubt!! Stats don't lie

Jordan · 28/02/2016 at 21:50

Hi community, really stressing out this year with my team. I would really appreciate any feedback someone has for me!!

    Jordan · 28/02/2016 at 21:51

    100k in the bank

      matt · 28/02/2016 at 22:13

McVeigh and Bartel will be rested id imagine, their teeth are getting long, and McVeigh has been dealing with a couple niggles already. I don't trust Lobbe anymore, was bullied around by gawn and can't see him being a premo. I doubt jamar will play many games, I feel as though he was picked up as a depth player/mentor. Finally I have a feeling that freeman is still fighting his hammy, but he's a gun if fit

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:36

your rucks will get smashed. cut shaw(get him later, he wont go up much more) to a laird or simpson type and dont go so deep in the forwards. chop bennel or buddy for a milera or ben kennedy type and upgrade one or both rucks. i had goldy from the get go last year, he helped me win so many games…

Jess · 28/02/2016 at 21:57

Do not pick sheridan. He scored 130 in the final NAB game last year and ended up averaging 50-60 odd.

Go for a premo or cheap rookie. You're welcome.

    SCaddict · 28/02/2016 at 22:22

Every year there are February Flyers who crash and burn when the real stuff starts.

Will Sheridan be one? … I'm not sure but I won't be touching him Jess.

      Sean's Mob · 28/02/2016 at 23:10

I think the reality is that this year the composition of the backline will be the difference between the best and the rest. whoever gets it right will have taken a number of risks that bear fruit. Every team structure I've seen is taking a punt in defence.

    lostlarrikin · 29/02/2016 at 00:00

I have been waiting for this second Freo nab game to roll around to see if Sheridan can repeat his first game antics and more importantly…PICK UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF LAST YEAR!
Tommy had a distinct role change from round 17 onwards last year where he pumped out a jaw dropping 85 avg in his last 9 games (incl 2 finals). Take out the one sub affected game and that rises to 91 avg!
This is no flash in the pan Feb Flyer me thinks.

Its a risk for sure, but a reasonably calculated one.

      SCaddict · 29/02/2016 at 01:06

I'm almost tempted by that argument LL …almost. 🙂

        Jess · 29/02/2016 at 02:42

Respectfully disagree that he's not a major risk at that price.

For someone who scored 130 in a NAB game last year, he went on to score a streak of: 60, 46, 24, 50, 49, 69, 50 and 60 (for an average of 51) in the next 8 games he played. There was a lot of hype about him last year too. Given, maybe his role has changed and he may breakout to score the 30-40 average more than the start of last year some people are hoping for.

However, his nab scores so closely mimic last years that, particularly for the people who weren't aware, this is a risk of lumumba type proportions and it could haunt you all year that you didnt find the 70k or 80k more for someone more proven.

          Jess · 29/02/2016 at 03:02

Hearing alot of no risk no reward talk. But some risks are more risky than others, and the size of the risk doesnt equal potential payoffs.

            lostlarrikin · 29/02/2016 at 08:09

Yep these are the ways of the mid-price dice.
More often than not, loaded for the house.

If i'm gonna risk a mid-pricer, then defence is the line to do it as this is where the likely points loss differential will be the smallest.

Granted, if you want to play safe, GnR is the ticket.

tbh, I really like the look of DeGoey up fwd, but I dont think I can entertain Libba, Sheridan and him. Too much of a gamble, expecting all three to become keepers or generated similar cash to rookies.

              Derek · 29/02/2016 at 09:50

I'm usually a Guns & Rookies type, but i have gone with a few Mid-pricers over the years. it very rarely has worked out for me.

last year i had 5. KK was good, Ibbotson was fairly good, Griffin was poor, Cloke was very poor & Bellchambers was aweful.

                Shake n bake · 29/02/2016 at 10:22

Ive only got 2 mid pricers Derek Libba & Degoey could change. lve only got who I think will finish in at least the top 7 and the rest rookies.

                dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:25

derek if only you didnt pick bloody cloke last year…..

      bUCKET__ · 29/02/2016 at 08:57

Bit of uncertainty in the Freo backline at the moment with word that both Mundy and Hill will spend significant time back there this season. So that's my main worry about the continued role. Oh boy his backend last year was nice to look at (ignoring that dropped mark…). Shall be watching Shezza closely in the final NAB game!

LuskinStar · 28/02/2016 at 22:02

I think Gore did enough to stay on the radar. Milera starting to look like a lock.

    Derek · 29/02/2016 at 09:46

Milera has slotted into my team at F5 very nicely. Will let Kerridge go into a mid-field spot and give me a DPP link. He is the Salem of last year.

kevwal · 28/02/2016 at 22:14

Have not seen the game, so how did Connor Blakely go. 65SC for a 160k rookie is ok.

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:21

its still to early to decide on fringe rookies

      kevwal · 29/02/2016 at 14:43

I know, I just wanted to know how he went.

        Tylo · 01/03/2016 at 10:13

Was solid in a back pocket kev. Tough backline to break into though.

greg · 28/02/2016 at 22:25

thoughts on Weiterings SC output?? worth paying the price for him as I reckon the ball will be down the Carlton backline ALOT??

    Derek · 29/02/2016 at 09:41

he is an overprice rookie, playing a Key position. No Thanks!

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:20

he looks like value but there is a lot of better options out there, so no

      Booma · 29/02/2016 at 13:42

What are the better options?? Agree there are cheaper rookies but there are very few who look likely to play & earn decent $ for us… That & if he averages 80-85 for the year he would almost be considered a keeper in the back line this year.

        kevwal · 29/02/2016 at 14:46

For an extra 20k, why not look at E.MacKenzie WCE?

Bottoms blues · 28/02/2016 at 22:38

Backs – Houli, Bartel, laird, Sheridan, tucker, bonner (Hartley, Collins)
Mids – danger, pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, libba, wells, mills, Ellis ( gore, freeman, Mathieson)
Rucks – Martin, Gawn (King)
Forwards – Martin, Barlow, Franklin, Greene, kerridge, brown (petracca, grimley)

108k in the bank

Rookies pending selection obviously, help appreciated

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:18

nice team, well balanced. buddy is pod, im hanging to see greene play. you wont need to change much

    eeeeeee · 29/02/2016 at 11:29

King is a useless loophole option if you're starting Gawn

    Bottoms blues · 29/02/2016 at 14:04

    Yeah changed already.
Wanting to swap Sheridan to either weitering or move nick graham into my team somehow but need to see more from them before doing so

3 votes · 28/02/2016 at 23:52

James wish or Tom sherridan as d4? Tommy is very tempting

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:12

both dangerous pics. im staying away from aish because i dont think he will be a top 10 defender, and wont raise enough cash to serve a purpose. huge risk small reward
sherridan is interesting. mundy and bennel to come back in so he might lose his ability to push out the big scores, making him average about 80 and become dead weight. but he might continue. big risk but big reward if he does

Blueprime · 29/02/2016 at 01:01

Simon · 29/02/2016 at 01:05

Thoughts on this please option 1 or option 2
1. Zac smith, Mitch brown wc, Connor menadue, mason cox
2. Brodie Grundy or Kurt Tippett, dean gore, d.wyatt, r.bonner

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 11:02

1 is better but id still avoid mid priced rucks this year. there are no stand outs and it is a waste of a trade if you plan to upgrade later on cos hey, their price might drop. find some more cash is my advice

Blueprime · 29/02/2016 at 01:45

Bevan Connelly · 29/02/2016 at 02:28

Thoughts community…
D: Rosa, JJ, Sheridan, Weitering, Brown, Collins (Hartley, Bonner)
M: Pendles, Ablett, Rocky, Libba, O'Meara, B Crouch, Mills, Parish (Macaffer, Kerridge, Mathieson)
R: Goldie, Gawn (Cox)
F: Martin, Wingard, Gunston, Barlow, Stringer, De Goey (O'Brien, Petracca)
Remaining salary $20K

    SC_Beast · 29/02/2016 at 07:12

Stacked line but defence. I prefer a more balanced team, but it could work for you. If Rosa and Sheridan fail in your backline, your in trouble.

    Derek · 29/02/2016 at 09:37

Rule #1 is to make Cash!

most cash generation will come from the midfield rookies. Mid-pricers don't get you much cash.

I can see a team like this doing really well for the first 6 – 7 weeks and then as the rookies get culled you may be left behind.

Mid-pricers like Stringer, DeGoey, Rosa, Sheridan i can see getting "stuck" in your team, i would trade those 4 out and replace with two premiums and two rookies.

Andy Bull · 29/02/2016 at 08:21

Is it a case of just do whatever to get Fyfe into your team?

    Derek · 29/02/2016 at 09:32

    pay the price!

    dannyyboyy · 29/02/2016 at 10:45

you will be waiting quite a while for a price drop, if he drops at all. he has something to prove. he might miss a couple due to his back but he will be in the top 3 mids all year. i would hate to miss out on his scores and then try to muster up best part of 700k to get him in. lock.

      Andy Bull · 29/02/2016 at 11:50

What do you think on Dangerfield? If you were to pass on Fyfe who is next in? I'm thinking Dangerfield or Fyfe, to go with Ablett, Rocky, Parker, Wines, LIbba, Mills and another Rookie. I had Shiel but I think its important to get one of Fyfe or Danger.

neil · 29/02/2016 at 08:36

you betchca. him goldy and shaw

TRIGGER HAPPY · 29/02/2016 at 10:12

Back lines! Every other line is pretty much locked except for rooks though I think cunington might have just moved out of the team looked very over whelmed. Mendue may have to come in. But backs. Been looking at a mid price but none really put their hand up except sheridan. So my latest thought is 3-3.

Boyd, laird, yeo, weithering plus two rooks one of them brown.

Previously was:

Laird, yeo, Salem, l mac, 2 rooks.

I think there won't b much between l mac and weithering and Boyd should outscore Salem.

    Swans2012 · 29/02/2016 at 11:59

I think your probably right, Boyd and weitering score more than Salem and l Mac, I've got l Mac at the minute but you might've swayed me to consider weitering instead.
It's killing me as well this backline, I'm currently
Laird, Bartel, Sheridan, l Mac, rooks.
It's light I know but has allowed me to thicken up other lines…

PJ8 · 29/02/2016 at 10:32

Anyone have an update on how Deledio is travelling? Still under injury cloud or just getting nursed through the NAB?

I have in currently. Like what he did last year and a POD at this stage.

    SCaddict · 29/02/2016 at 13:22

Lids is expected to play NAB3 last I heard so we'll probably get a good look at how he's going then.

If he can't get up for that then reckon we all need to look to spend the premo dollars elsewhere just like in the case of McVeigh. Although I doubt I could fit him into my own team even if he plays well in NAB3.

      PJ8 · 29/02/2016 at 14:55

      Thanks for the update.

Yeah big $$$ to fork out straight up. Just keep going back to him. Can't seem to be happy with Dahl, Greene, Tippett or any others that have been in my team instead. Obviously have Martin and Barlow as everyone else does and want a POD and Lids is that at the moment and proven 100 point scorer for 7 years straight.

      If he's fit he's in.

Jack · 29/02/2016 at 11:24

Reckon Tommy boy can lock a spot down in that best 22 though?
