Round 21 Supercoach Scouting Report

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Barron Von Crow - inner sanctum

Howdy folks, it’s Barron Von Crow here and welcome to Round 21 and the Supercoach Scouting Report. Well, it’s another week in Supercoach and it’s another week of good mixed with the bad.

The bad news? Well super popular Luke Parker looks to be out for the year with a broken leg, which will surely put a dent in some players teams. The good news? It looks like guys such as Tom Rockliff and Rory Sloane are back to their best, along with players such as Tom Mitchell, Sam Jacobs, Patrick Dangerfield, David Armitage, JPK, Luke Dahlhaus, Ryan Griffen, David Mundy and Robbie Gray all putting up terrific scores last week. Let’s hope for our sakes that continues on into Round 21!

So let’s go take a look and see what the week has in store for us.

Also, remember to look out for the red and green Supercoach scores, RED = bad, GREEN = good which may help you out when it comes to picking your captains for the week

captainCaptain Pick(s): Travis Boak has a fantastic record against the Hawks, he also had a score of 124 in the Preliminary Final last year against the Hawks. For a Friday night game, he could make an excellent VC pick, the Power won’t have anything to lose here and should be going balls to the wall. Robbie Gray has usually been contained against the Hawks, with a high score of 118, but he did well last week, so could be another VC consideration. For the Hawks, you could think about Roughead having a big game, with the news that Jackson Trengove will be missing the rest of the year, otherwise Mitchell, Hodge and Lewis are options too.

captainCaptain Pick(s): Dane Swan has been the man for the Pies recently, with scores of 168 and 127 in his last two games. He has the runs on the board against the Tigers in the past, so consider him an excellent VC choice in this game. Scott Pendlebury has been slightly better in that time too, with scores of 129 and 118 so he could be plugged in too. Deledio and Martin are likely the best bets from the Tigers, Cotchin has been down lately, so you probably wouldn’t take the risk on that one.

captainCaptain Pick(s): With Luke Parker out, it looks like Tom Mitchell could be the man for the Swans this week. He had a score of 130 a fortnight ago against the Crows, followed by 147 last week. He’s a ball magnet going against a GWS team that’s slowly running out of steam, I like his chances here, and that applies to both JPK and Hannebery as well.

captainCaptain Pick(s): Well, I don’t bloody know on this one! Both teams were blown out of the water last week and Essendon have now lost James Hird, so you could get anything from this game. My expect would be Essendon to come out like a house on fire and look to smash the Suns here, so you may take a look at Brendon Goddard or Dyson Heppell in this one. I’d probably stay away though to be honest.

captainCaptain Pick(s): Patrick Dangerfield continued his role, with his second 150+ game in a row, scoring 157 against the Bombers last week. At home at Adelaide Oval you’d expect near that sort of form to continue for another week. Rory Sloane and Sam Jacobs, like Dangerfield, both had an excellent score for the 2nd week in a row too, Sloane with scores of 128 and 145 and Jacobs with 156 and 143. I probably wouldn’t expect Jacobs to put up another monster score against Stef Martin, but Sloane and Dangerfield could easily have another good one. For the Lions, Rockliff is your man, a score of 145 last week and 135 a fortnight ago means he’s back, baby, as George Costanza might say.

He’s been the best Supercoach player in the last couple of months, so it will be a big test for him to break his previous form and put in a good score in this one. If you have a really solid VC pick you can still go with Goldstein with your Captain pick, but i’d be 50/50 on him belting out a big score in this one. Otherwise, Nat Fyfe can be your man.

captainCaptain Pick(s): This could very well be the hardest game to pick. The Bulldogs have been absolutely awesome this year, but they’re 3-4 when playing away from Etihad, so the trip to Perth could put a bit of a damper on them. Still, it’s very possible that the opposite could happen and any one of Bontempelli, Dahlhaus, Macrae or Wallis have a big game. Matt Priddis has been a bit down the last fortnight for the Eagles, which coincides with Nic Nat being out, if he plays this one i’d expect Priddis to be back to his best.

BARRON VON CROW’S CAPTAIN SELECTION(S):

Well, for me this week, i’ll be looking at taking either Dane Swan or Tom Mitchell as my VC and will be moving my Captain along to Patrick Dangerfield.

Who should I be looking at trading in for Kelly this week out of Houli and Rance?

Dean

I prefer Houli personally thats why i got him about 7 weeks ago. Good luck m8

Patch

Love it, Barron! VC Duckwood with the C on Danger for mine!

Rawkus11

They play same time, Patch

Patch

oops. JPK it is!

Rawkus11

Who out of Danger and Selwood vc?

LJB

Danger after last weeks effort

Rawkus11

Yeah that’s the way I was leaning

Derek

My smokey for VC this week is JPK or Hannaberry. Swans are missing Titch and Parker, me thinks that either JPK or Hanna will go massive.

Danger is s good punt as well. Does Lions have a regular Tagger?

Sam

Who to trade in for Picken? Higgins, Rance, Houli, Enright or Simpson?

Derek

Not sure if Higgins is 100%.

Enright has been very good, cats have a few important games and he always seems to play well when it matters, plus this could be his last 3 games ever.

Tony

What's your thoughts guys – trade in Selwood, Delidio or Sloane (for the third time) ?????

Derek

Out of those 3, Selwood by a long way.

Carlton

anyone know how long armitage is going to be out for ?

have 1 trade left, should I trade Buddy or Armitage ?

And who is best to bring in ?

bUCKET__

In exactly the same boat!

I'm thinking they're being conservative with Buddy this week as he did a fair bit of training this week, so will probably be backing him in to come back next week against Saints and hopefully kick a bag.

Going Armitage to Rocky / Treloar

LJB

Danger into goldy for me

dean

Goldy will be held down by sandy. Id look elsewhere

Anonymous

who should i trade parker for? thinking mundy or hannes

Derek

Hannas will go huge this week.

I am also thinking seriously about McVeigh, save me some cash so I can also upgrade Kolo.

CJay

Thanks for your work again Barron.
Need a Parker replacement. Lewis, Sloane or Priddis ?
Please rank 1 2 3 choice.

Derek

Sloane is only ahead of Priddis because Crows play Lions this week and will win by 10 goals, where WCE have a tough game against doggies.

CJay

Thanks Derek. I have had sloane in and out twice already so I am a bit tentative with that cheekbone making it to sc grand final where as Priddis was a bit quiet last week. So I guess you don't rate Lewis due to the fact Hawks share the ball around too much from week to week?

Derek

Hawks get lions next week

@KingWinter7

Armitage, Mitchell kys

footy

got 1 trade left,

who needs to go, buddy or armitage ?

gazdog

buddy, but check how serious armitage's injury is
if one had to come in, u would want to keep armo

Dean

Parker to Boak for me, a POD also which I like.

Those with Tmitch, Picken and Armitage will feel it this week. Thankfully I don't have them.

Better Luck Nxt Yr

Boak is a POD for sure, but not sure that is a good thing here.

While he had good scores in rounds 3-6, he has only tonned up 5 of last 13 games (Melb, Carl, Coll, Adel, Stk) and had two 70's and three 80's in that time.

Sure, he's due, but risky pick against Hawthorn away in a must win game for Supercoach and Port's season over.

I've gone Parker to Rockliff, but if I didn't have the cash, I would go for Sloane and if I didn't have the cash and wanted a POD I would probably go for Gaff, Hill, Heppell or Harvey. Sure there is the same risk as with Boak for these four, but their recent numbers are just better.

Mac

Keeping Trelaor as he is in, trading Buddy to Deledio as Buddy is stuffed

Derek

If you have the cash that is a great trade

Mac

Or I could save a trade and put Lambert on

Johnny

1 more trade and it has to go towards trading out Parker sadly. Wondering who to get in for him though. Currently in my midfield I have Danger, Hannebery, Fyfe, Boak, Selwood, Hodge and Rockliff. Thoughts on who to get in for Parker?

Johnny

Also I have Picken who is also out, who should I sub him out for, Shaun Edwards or Jake Kolodjashnij?

Derek

JPK

Charlesy

Hi community, I really need some advice. 2 trades left and was going to upgrade saad this week. But now with Parker out I need to replace him more urgently. Only have 12 grand left. Do you wise people have some ideas for me? I can go saad to Mc Donald and Parker to ward/Cotchin. Can’t afford the big premium mids unless I keep saad and use 2 trades to go up from Parker to Selwood/Hannebery. Thanks in advance

Derek

I can’t see McDonald out scoring Saad by much. Seems sideways to me. Parker to Sloane or McVeigh

Charlesy

Thanks Derek. Been nervous about taking saad into the finals but keep having to replace injured midfielders. Cheers

Budstar

Been covering Oxley on the ground for weeks, should have dumped him ages ago. Who's the best option out of Rance, Simpson, Laird, Gibson. I'm leaning towards Rance, but like Laird as well…..as everyone has Simpson!! Best of luck for the weekend!! Cheers

LJB

Enright is another optin

Derek

Enright +1

S Man

Im short of funds so need a sub $500K mid for Parker while also needing to upgrade Kelly. The options for Parker are:
Shuey
Sloane
Ward
McVeigh
S.Edwards

Im leaning towards Ward and Edwards for extra funds to upgrade Kelly

gazdog

Shuey is a massive POD, has the possibility to win you games if you are in a tight spot.
Sloane and Ward are much more safer bets however.

@KingWinter7

Using my last trade to ditch Armitage, bring in Steven, Sidebottom, Heppell or Ward?

Dean

Derek do ya still have 4 trades left mate?

Just seen your awesome side are you trading Parker out mate – or will you move Swan/Gray into your midfield via Lamert and play Motlop & Bartel in your forward line.

If you have 3 or 4 trades I wouldn't just trade Parker to just anyone, I would trade out McKenzie to Marsh or if you want a non player then Fields and this way you could bring Hannebery or Delideo in your midfield.

Derek

Hi mate, yeah got 4 trades but only $27k.

I want to hold 1 trade to last week in case Goldy or Sauce are out and I have no ruck cover.

I’ll upgrade Parker this week and Kolo probably next week depending on injuries.

I am seriously thinking about McVeigh or Roughhead to replace Parker if I use 1 trade this week.

Hawks and swans have good games to finish

Derek

Roughie likes beating up the weaker sides, Hawks have Port, lions & Carlton to finish. He has been scoring ok without kicking a lot of goals, if he can kick a bag or two he could go huge. He plays Friday this week and early Saturday next week, perfect to loophole him.

McVeigh should be the swan to get more midfield time to replace Parker (and Titch) and swans have easy run home as well. However, I do think Hannaberry is better option but I would need to make an extra trade this week. McVeigh big POD.

Rawkus11

Whats your team name Derek? What position?

derek

Bundeena Bunnies 77th Overall.

Rawkus11

Nice! Plenty of cover

gazdog

DEF: Hodgey, Shaw, TMac, PICKEN, Ibbo, Hibberd (colq, s.edwards)
MID: Fyfe, Danger, Priddis, Pendles, Rocky, Lewis, Neale, PARKER (steele, knight, dumont)
RUCK: Goldy, Maric (tom read)
FWD: D.Martin, Swan, Dahlhaus, Gray, T.MITCHELL, ZIEBELL (tarrant, h.goddard)

Big issues with PICKEN, PARKER, T.MITCHELL AND ZIEBELL out now.
I'm thinking Parker and Ziebell out for JPK and Deledio and use h.goddard and s.edwards as subs for titch and picken.
Which two of the players out are the best to trade out considering bench cover?

doug

Those with Tmitch, Picken and Armitage will feel it this week. Thankfully I just farted

ArthurDaley2

this comment stinks

Oliver

Does anyone know how long Picken is out for?

Freight train

Don’t worry mate they reckon just the 1 week hold him

Oliver

Thank you, though with 3 trades left, maybe it is best to dump him.

James

Have Picken and Titch with one trade left. I can cover Picken with BSmith or APearce but should I use the trade on Titch and risk finals? Or cover him with Steele, Goddard, or Laverde?

If I trade I'm cooked if Sandi is rested next week.

Chonkers

What about Ryder as an option to replace Mitchell? Scoring better recently, and Lobbe still out of the Port team. Gives cover for Sandi next week too assuming you have DPP on ruck bench

some random guys

Well, I'm in a big pickle.
and
I have T Mitchell, Buddy, Parker, Picken and Brown who are not playing. Brown limits my cover for them.
Got 2 trades this week

Carlton

anyone know how serious armitage’s injury is ?

got 1 trade left so need to trade either buddy or Amritage

bob

u faggot

Teddy Ruxpin

4 Trades $174,000 in the bank.
DEF: Shaw, Hodge, Higgins, Houli, Hibberd (Lever, Shaw)
MID: Selwood, Dangerfield, Priddis, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Kennedy, Hannebery, Rockliff (Griffen, Maynard, Knight)
RUCK: Goldstein, Naitanui
FWD: Swan, Martin, Gray, Goddard, Bontempelli, Mitchell (Lambert, Payne)

I'm $2,900 short from trading Mitchell & Lambert to Deledio and McDonald – Ideal trades.

Is Deledio & going to outscore Dahlhaus over the next 2 weeks?
Who is going to score more out of Enright & McDonald?

Tom

Anyone know how long armitage and mitchell are out for?

Favalinko U Beauty

Mitchell was poked in the eye in the swans final training session and has bleeding behind the eye. The swans say he might miss next week as well

Lachlan

So GF's are next week, round 22. Can someone please advise if round 23 counts to our overall score?

Rawkus11

Pretty sure it does

Matt

who should i bring in for harry taylor?
i have 52,900 in the bank and 5 trades left
i already have
shaw, hodge, hibberd, simpson and docherty
appreciate thoughts?

Bill

are there any possible downgrade options this week?

Rawkus11

Marsh (collingwood)

Borris

is it worth trading harry taylor?

Aaron

Yes he's a flog

CJay

Fyfe is supposed to life not strife http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-21/late-mail-l

Pjay

Typical of this season. And Lyons.

Tofor

Sloane or Rockcliff for Parker?
Houli or Enright for Picken?

Tofor

Or Mundy?

derek

Lions finish season with Crows (away), Hawks (away) and Dogs. I would go Sloane.

Tofor

Or Hannebury. Think I'm going for Hannerbury!

derek

Goddard didn't get on plan today. Could be a late out for the bombers.

John

Want to trade Parker for Priddis…. Will he come good?

derek

doggies don't tag, priddis will do good
