Round 20 Supercoach Scouting Report
Howdy folks, Barron Von Crow here and welcome to our Round 20 Supercoach scouting report.
It’s now week 2 of the Supercoach Finals, for some of you, you’d be looking at a cruisey week off from league play, while others may be still fighting to make a Preliminary Final and others will unfortunately, not be seeing any more action in the Finals. But no matter where you stand league wise, we’ll always have our overall ranking as something we can strive to improve over the last 3 weeks of Supercoach play.
And overall, Round 19 was a fairly solid one for us Supercoachers. We had players like Swan, Jacobs, Goldstein, Dangerfield, Martin, Selwood, Higgins and Montagna pull out some ripper scores above 140 Supercoach Points and on the whole, managed to stay injury free. And more good news comes this week with the return of Nat Fyfe to Fremantle, although there are now injury clouds over David Mundy and Matthew Pavlich, as well as Sydney confirming Lance Franklin will not be suiting up in Round 20.
It’s time to go take a look at Round 20 though, so let’s go and see what it has in store for us!
Also, remember to look out for the red and green Supercoach scores, RED = bad, GREEN = good which may help you out when it comes to picking your captains for the week

Still, it was an encouraging sign for owners of those two. You’d hope they could continue that form into this game and since it’s the Friday night game, both would be considered as potential VC candidates. For the Swans, the usual suspects apply, although all of JPK, Mitchell, Jack, Parker and Hannebery scored 90 or less last week against the Cats. We’d expect a bounce back game from them.
Perfect 9 Pick: Scott Pendlebury

You’d have to consider Dangerfield as a VC choice here, he’s been too good in the 2nd half of the year to ignore and Sam Jacobs could easily replicate his score from last week against the Bombers rucks. The only question mark here would be the game being played at Etihad and the Crows inconsistency issues. They played well last week, but they are prone to some Jekyll and Hyde performances from week to week. The only issue here is the Adelaide and North games are played 25 minutes apart from each other, so you’d have to pick between Dangerfield and Goldstein to use this week. The Bombers haven’t been the best scoring wise in Supercoach lately, so I doubt you’d find much on their side, apart from maybe Brendon Goddard.

Captain Pick(s): Much like the Crows last week, you’d expect the Power to bounce back after a sucky performance the week prior. They’ll be taking on the Giants who’ll be without Treloar, which should make it a bit easier for the likes of Gray and Boak in the midfield. The question is will the Power pull the old switcheroo now that their finals chances look cooked and starts fiddling about with their structures? Ryder as the lone ruck, Wingard into the midfield, Gray up forward etc. Potential for some interesting scores to come out of this one and that applies to guys like Callan Ward who’ll really need to step up his game and help the Giants if they want to stay close to the 8.

He still has a BE of 48 this week, so he’ll still likely add another 50K to his price next week. This will be a big test for him though, he only scored a 69 when these teams faced in Round 1 this year, but he’s been absolutely brilliant over the last 3 weeks. I’d be hard pressed to pick a player from this game, Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis from the Hawks all have massive scoring potential, along with Selwood and even Stevie J in his 250th could pull of some of his magic and knock a big score out of the park. I reckon those who’ve traded in Joel Selwood will probably look to back him in here though.

Tom Rockliff hasn’t been his high scoring self of last year, but he’d be a quality option here if you still have him. For the Blues, Marc Murphy looks like he’s been the only consistent scoring Blue. He scored 130 last week and could easily pull that off again here, but you’d probably want to put your money on a surer thing.

Captain Pick(s): Thankfully for the Tigers Brett Deledio looks to be back for this one. They certainly missed him last week, and it only highlighted his importance to the Tigers. He’s had scores of 136 and 139 against the Gold Coast in his last 3 games, he could easily put that type of score up again. For the Suns, Tom Lynch has been one of the best forwards in the competition over the last few weeks, teaming up with Charlie Dixon, he’ll make it hard for Alex Rance and Co if the Suns midfielders can get them a decent amount of supply. I have my doubts that’ll happen, so for that reason alone I’d probably skip them and just consider Deledio for this one.

You’d expect the Doggies would want to finish strongly and give themselves a double chance for the Finals, and the likes of Bontempelli, Dahlhaus, Stringer and Macrae will all potentially score well. For the Demons, they haven’t usually been a high scoring side Supercoach wise, but Bernie Vince has shown the ability to knock out some big scores when he has a really good game. He has been a bit up and down though, so when he’ll fire can be hard to predict.
Perfect 9 Pick: Marcus Bontempelli

Last time they met: Round 3, 2015: Fremantle DEFEATED West Coast 111-81
Key scores: Lachie Neale 170, Stephen Hill 140, Danyle Pearce 121, Nat Fyfe 107
Scott Lycett hadn’t played AFL football since Round 4, but still managed to knock out a career high of 123 Supercoach Points last week against the Hawks.
After scoring 100+ in 5 of his first 9 games, Josh J. Kennedy has now gone 9 straight week without scoring 100+ Supercoach Points.

Captain Pick(s): The big derby, although the Eagles will be going in slightly undermanned with Nic Nat understandably missing again, as well as McGovern being a question mark at this stage. Nat Fyfe makes his return to our sides (If you didn’t trade him out, that is) and he’ll be a welcome addition and with the last game of the round, a handy Captain choice for people to use. Sandilands could benefit with Naitanui missing, but both Lycett and Sinclair are decent rucks if one or both of them play. For the majority this will come down to Fyfe VS Priddis, with Naitanui missing I’ll probably lean towards taking Nat Fyfe, even after missing a few weeks of football.
BARRON VON CROWS CAPTAIN SELECTION(S):
The big question mark for me this week is deciding between Todd Goldstein and Patrick Dangerfield, who are playing at the same time. So in the battle of the Round 20 Captain the winner is…..TODD GOLDSTEIN! As much as I love Danger, I just cannot pass up Goldstein taking on the Saints. He’ll be my Captain this week along with Scott Pendlebury as my VC in the Friday night game, though unless he scores really well I don’t think I’ll be using him at all.
Should I trade in Delidio this week? Will he be able to bounce back from his sickness or should I look for others?
Gonna take a gamble on parker as vc with old goldylocks as backup c this week.
Swan VC into Goldy C, now out of trades so just hanging on. Not worried about league, focussed on best overall position.
Forwards a concern with Buddy & McKernan off the park and Daniel in extended bench, so may have a donut there this week.
Shame Daniel isn't a MID/FWD as I could swap him with Steele who is back this week.
Treloar out has left me a premo down in the mids but Fyfe back has prevented being 2 down.
Will loophole Goddard / Pearce in DEF with Goddard as E and DMac as non playing on field.
In the mids have Knight as E with Treloar as non playing on field with Steele my other loophole option.
My team:
DEF: Houli, Hodge (MID), Newnes (MID), Laird, Enright, DMac (MID) (Pearce, Goddard (FWD) (E))
MID: Pendles, Priddis, Danger, Fyfe, JPK, Treloar, SMitch, Parker (O'Brien, Steele (FWD), Knight (FWD) (E))
RUC: Goldy (C), Read (FWD) (Maric (E))
FWD: Swan (MID) (E), Gray (MID), Zorko (MID), Bont (MID), Bennell (MID), Daniel (Buddy, SMac (RUC))
Hi community, 5 trades left and 80k in the bank, but a few concerns in my team. Looking for some downgrade options for Steele or Hamling but preferably Steele as he is worth there. Had a look but there were not many solid options around. Thoughts community?
Tom Barrass (DEF) from WCE should be around for a few games whilst the Gov recovers, could be suitable DG bench cover. He's KPD so won't score much, but if you're looking for job security go no further.
Maybe a playing Carlton rookie for a MID or FWD option, but don't count on them scoring much or staying in the team for long.
Godly vc into fyfe is life if he does not do well.
planing out my last 3 trades
And can’t decide!!!
Out: h Taylor, b smith & Bont.
In: Picken, hodge & Bartel/flogard
Or: Houli, hodge & lids
Please help
Picken Hodge only, worry about trade 3 next week
I understand that but have to make
Decision coz getting Picken over Houli
Won’t leave me enough cash for lids.
So what I’m really asking is the most
Points gunna come from
Picken & Bartel/flogard
Or Houli & lids?
In your opinion deadly?
I think the Sauce will monster Essendon so he'll get the VC and Fyfe the C.
Need to trade Beams – Danger, Selwood or Fyfe? Any thoughts?
Hoping Boston doesn’t get a game this week so I can loophole Goldy. When will teams be finalised for Sunday afternoon games?
Goldy VC into Rockliff C
keep lids or trade him??? and who to???
cheers
