PODCAST: Community Night Round 6
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
We’re doing it for James Kelly’s testicle tonight community.
But while we all come to terms with the horrors that James has endured this week – we must face the cold hard reality of this game – and the fact that the show must go on.
Cam Ellis Yolmen is OUT with a hammy, he joins Hodge, Lewis and Bennell as some of the big outs in the lead up to round 6.
Those conundrums and plenty more in the pre round show community

As mentioned in the podcast – a MASSIVE weekend for Moneyball with $4.5K up for grabs in the Saturday Slam this week –  Sign up here – also search for Jock Reynolds for our community contests.
Wonderful as always!
If I have the trades and cash to upgrade McIntosh this week should I?
not sure wether to wait for him to make more cash or pull the trigger early to try and help my ranking.
hold this week mate
then trade to mckenzie next week for him
Will leuenberger affect stefan Martin scoring output?
Are we sure he is playing?
I really like stefan Martin as a POD
Brought him in and then once teams named I reversed the trade, R1 & R2 was when they played together and SM's scores were not flash.
If Luey's back in then he will negatively effect Martin. Martin does his best work as the solo ruck.
The simple answer is YES and not in a good way.
It appears he will be playing this weekend not being listed on the extended bench but I guess we'll see.
Salem to Shiel, Dahlaus, or Ebert? Need your help Jock
Shiel. He bloody gun! Welcome!
Dahlhaus, proven fwd premium
Salem out who should I get in? Buddy, Ryder or Goddard
Goddard will be the cheapest he will be in 6 weeks. Breakeven of 69 very consistent.
I've left Goddard for another week to bring in a different premium. His BE is 69 low but he's playing Freo and a very realistic chance of going sub 100 this week, so I don't think his price will change significantly.
Goddard is great value although may have an ordinary score against Freo this weekend if you can handle that. Should be an excellent option long term though.
Buddy looks not far away from exploding on the Supercoach scoreboard although I see there's about a 50% chance of rain forecast this weekend. At least you'll get to see what the weather is like before pulling the trigger there. If it's raining buckets I'd probably hold off on Buddy for a week or two.
Ryder is shaping up as a decent option for ruck cover in your forward line. If he can average around 90 for the rest of the season with that ruck cover bonus I reckon that's very effective utilisation of a forward spot. He has burnt many a supercoach in seasons past though in his former life at the Dons.
Going tbc too Ryder next week for sure
Tbc currently in my fwd line as insurance , so having Ryder there just helps scoring and my fwd line more effective I’m hoping
Yes I'm planning to do likewise r2d2. I still need to get Gray into my own team so that may be my priority this week but I can see myself bringing in Paddy sooner rather than later, especially if he produces another solid performance this weekend against the Eagles.
i went Ryder
but no right answer, just whatever fits your structures best mate
G'day guys just need help as to what to do with Jack Newnes got $207k in the bank and im not sure who to bring? Cheers
Harry Taylor or Heath Shaw.
hold newnes mate – i like scrofl answer
but upgrade a rookie to Shaw – hold newnes!
Any one with insight on how long Cam Ellis Yolmen is out for?
2 weeks…
someone said on radio similar to cheeneys injury which kept him out for 2 weeks.
Means we can slaughter the fat cow in the bye rounds
dom sheed or CEY out
2 weeks but more than likely will be more. possible 3 being a hammy and if crows do OK he may need a week in the SANFL
Option 1:
NVB to Pendles
leaves me with 25 trades… but a proven premo keeper
Option 2:
NVB to Goddard
Newton to any midfielder, forward, backmen under 460k
leaves me with 24 trades… 2 premos but potentially not keepers.
thoughts?

You have to have Pendles this year again. Might as well get him now
1. Pendlebury is a must
if you have a solid trading plan then scoring output from Goddard + Newton upgrade could be more than just having Pendles
Pendles is a must, but if you can plan to have him post bye and you already have 2 solid C options then i would go with option 2
if you really are a n00b though the safest option will be option 1
This would be my trading plan. Option two and trade in Taylor Adams for newton. If all goes to plan trade out Heeney and Salem next week for Mckenzie and Glenn. creating about 400k. Trade out Vandenberg the week after for Pendles? Good plan or?
good plan, but whats the best you can afford other than ADAMS.
He seems like a good grab now, but not a proven premo.
the only reason i ask is around that price point theres so many good players and the more $ you add to ADAMS the better the list gets.
even if you wait one more week you could pick up Steven Johnson cheaper than ADAMS
Ideally I would like to use both my trades next week for rookie downgrades. There are not many good people under 460k
Eddie Betts
Tom Mitchell
Charlie Dixon
Danyle Pearce
Liam Picken
Jasper Pittard
Brodie Smith
Kade Simpson
These boys are all options… Thoughts?
Tom Mitchell
Absolute Gun.
If you can see how he goes this week and look to bring him in next week.
Tom Mitchell, if he gets games is easilly a 550K player
Take a risk and trade Newton to Glenn. That will give you good warchest to bring in T.Mitchell next week and possibly another premo or rookie ( McKenzie from saints will be on the bubble next week)
Pittard out of that lot. Maybe Betts
need a really cheap replacement for b goodes to create some $$$$.,.. any ideas?
Mckenzie
Yeah I'm risking going McKenzie a week early, only coz Goodes is back and has high BE and could potentially be the sub again. Was gonna wait a week and go McIntosh to McKenzie but gotta go early now.
goodes looking for MID time this week.
hold
worst case scenario he may loose a tiny amount of cash, but then you can downgrade to mckenzie next week
goodes is a gun and could get more of a run, especially if the doggies stay up and about
Salem is playing right?
Could be late out
Cyril Rioli anyone? He's delicious
low score of 93 and high score of 104 thats pretty consistent for 5 gamis
Anyone touching him at $492.700
Im thinking him as a POD
Would touch him myself. Has burnt way too many supercoaches over the years.
Those lacky bands he calls hammies could go twang at any given moment.
Plenty of other good options around that price point without taking on that elevated injury risk in my view.
I’m a Hawks fan and just love the guy, don’t think I’ve ever had him in my team, for good reason
Whoopsies meant '*wouldn't touch him'
Too much risk, altho I had him a few years back when he played 21 games I think and avg over 100…lucky!
he is a burn man
but with no hodge or lewis could be a gun move having him in the team
not for my team, but u need big ball to win this game. no Kelly ball
Should I upgrade bellchambers to goldy or to mummy for 100k cheaper which will allow me to upgrade Salem to a premo the following week?
I'd keep TBC at least another week or two. Appears to be steadily gaining match fitness with every passing game and has a BE below his season average.
You'd be paying significant overs for Goldy right now and Mummy has only lost a bunch of coin this season with a tough game coming up against the Hawks this weekend. The big lug was meant to dominate Pike and Tippett when he faced another contender in the Swans but only delivered a 61 so not sure I'd be falling over myself to bring in the big Mummy this week.
with no injuries, hold TBC.
not huge value in rucks at this stage and if TBC pulls out a 85+ game that will stay in his 3 week avg increasing his value. upgrade other lines first then look to swap TBC to Ryder
Boak or Ward or someone else. Looking for a round 13 bye midfielder.
Priddis is another Rd13 bye mid who is superb value at the moment and should be quite a safe option over the long haul.
Shiel has put up his hand early this season but not sure if he will reach genuine elite status in 2015 once the better oppositions start locking him down. Only scored 52 against the Swans but belted out huge scores in the other 4 games.
Ward
gun
Priddis is cheap so a good option, but i had Ward last season and he was an elite POD for my team
Hi everyone
Thoughts on whether i should do
1) bellchambers to stefan martin (cant swing for a forward and already have goldstein or
2) rich to pendblebury
Thanks !
1
I like option 2 a helluva lot more myself Goldyy. Pendles is a must have and could be a very handy VC option this Friday.
Martin is a great player but it appears Leuey may be coming back this weekend which could curtail Stef's scoring capability to some degree.
2
Pendles is a must have again this year.

Hello community,
I am bringing in Pendles who should i trade out for him Salem or Ellis Yolmen?
thoughts appreciated
Salem, CEY has more money to earn only out for a possible 2 and can be slaughtered around the byes
Either. Really depends on how much bank you have.
E Y
out for 2 weeks
need warm bodies on the field
Hi community, thoughts on salem to buddy and ellis yolmen to jpk. Uses most of my war chest but gives me another 2 keepers. Thnx.
That is what the war chest is for, great trades
Agree with Derek. Good trades Caz.
Or wait a week or 2 and have a crack at Selwood.
Brilliant Caz. Go early with those trades and start building the war chest again.
big tick
Griffen to boak?
Smart move or will it backfire on me?
Griffen has probably proven already that he won't be a keeper this season so it's only a question of when you pull the trigger to upgrade him to a true elite of the game. If you were going to upgrade I wouldn't stuff around and go straight to a Pendles, Fyfe or JPK.
GWS do finally have a game at their home stadium this week and although it's against the Premiers they will be missing their best two mids in Lewis and Hodge. So perhaps it may be worth keeping Griff around another week just in case he repeats the trend of tonning up on the even rounds.
But if he spuds it up again it's definitely time to show him the door next week perhaps as a downgrade to Glenn if you can't upgrade him to an elite.
Griff named dead in the centre. Have a feeling he’ll kill it this week.
I'm planning to trade Griff to Rocky once Rocky bottoms out.
backfire move
hold on this trade
Is it too early to go from Newnes to Brodie Smith? I have 466k to spend on a defender
Probably way too early…… Do you think Pittard will be up there in the top 10 defenders by the end of the year?
Yes I would just let that one marinate for another few weeks. Both he, Hibberd and Simpson should be low $400Ks or less in another fortnight which has many a coach salivating at the thought.
They have all had forgettable starts to the season but are way better players than that so should be on everyone's menu once they can string some consistent form together.
Thoughts on Pittard being a keeper?
It's certainly looking that way. I'd probably still push folk towards a player like Simpson who's been there and done that numerous times over but there is no arguing with Pittard's output thus far.
Personally I only plan on trading in premo defenders for no more than $400k in 2015 …if I can help it. 🙂
It is a bit early, could wait a week or get on Simpson
Hey community just wondering if you could trade in any defender atm who you think will be within the top 10 defenders at the end of the year and with price not being an issue, who would it be???
I had Simpson from start, he is cheaper now but will be top 10
TAYLOR
SHAW
dont be sucked into any new premos in defence, i am personally holding out for Malceski to drop
With Henderson out, Need to rely on one of Goodes or Nathan Brown on field. Hopefully Brown puts in a good one and I can loophole him.
For me this week I think it's
Salem to Gray
Goodes to Mckenzie
Need to do the goodes trade as I am about 1k short and by dealing with goodes this week, i can downgrade to Glenn next week and upgrade another player.
Salem out for Goddard or Dusty?
Do i play goodes if not named sub or get in mcdonald/pittard or simpson in for him?
Probably Goddard given his attractive price this week although at least Dusty has performed to his starting price so far this season.
Goddard probably won't shift much in price this week, BE of 69 but he's unlikely to go 100+ against Freo IMO.
That could be a good call Jimi. Of course if he pumps out another ton you will have a pay a little more for him but there is no tougher assignment in footy than @Freo right now.
It's a hedged bet, it enabled me to bring in Pendles and JPK this round. For that I'd still be happy to cop a higher price for Goddard.
Dusty
No mention of Dylan Shiel in the podcast tonight.
Get on him!
No mention of Tom Mitchell either.
I have Dylan Shiel. Don't think he will finish top 10 this year tbh
What do we all think of Toby GREENE?
had a shit year so far, worth a cheap penny. can he turn it around?
im thinking him as my M8 POD
Who will be the top 6 forwards at seasons end?
I think –
Gray
Franklin
Goddard
Deledio
but am uncertain about the other 2.
what are the communities thoughts?
Swan and Dusty
Swan and martin, maybe Bartel
Ellis Yoleman to Glenn
Salem to Goddard
184k still in bank
Glenn = good option
GC have injuries and suspensions.
another 100+ game and he will be the next 2 dads
Have $478k in the bank and 25 trades. Can go rich > Pendles or JPK and Salem to Goddard or Franklin,l. Best to do that or hold trades – trading will leave me only 23 trades and a small war chest heading into byes (although some nice cows to kill soon).
Goddard should be a priority buy, he will go up in price, and I believe stay up. You have a couple of weeks at least to get Franklin in.
Pendlebury & Kennedy – prices wont change much over the next few weeks if they continue to score their averages. Rich may go up slightly. It comes down more to points scoring than money making. Personally I would go Pendlebury, but it is a trade that doesnt need to happen.
Yes Cozza I'd definitely make those trades mate.
Bringing 2 of those 4 guys in now at discounted prices will only significantly improve your team sooner rather than later which is a good use of trades and war chest for mine.
Can you find a way to bring in Pendles and JPK this week and leave Goddard till next week?
(Disclaimer: This are the two guys I bought in this week).
that's what a war chest is for.
use it
PENDLES and GODDARD
trying to get pendles in but dont know whether to trade out dom sheed or CEY – sheed is averaging around 65 and has very good JS with a BE of about 30, but CEY seems like he'll make me more cash after he comes back from injury, thoughts?
if you dont need a player scoring in the next 2 weeks, i would keep CEY.
trade down both then upgrade next week
G'day community, Goodes out McDonald in this week. Thoughts behind the move is that proven premo mids are falling in price whilst the like of McDonald and Pittard are increasing. Like Lekdog said, time to move B Goodes on. I agree, don't want to lose the projected $30k. Bring in one of the rising Defenders and get the mid premos later as some of them are still falling.
I'm doing the same hondo. Was tossing up between McD and Pittard. Went McD. ceiling is much higher and i think he has proven himself a keeper this year
Hi community, bench NVB or Heeney this week folks? Cant trade NVB as had to trade some guys going to lose cash incl B Goodes…Thoughts?
As much as I'd prefer to play Heeney, all things being equal, you need to have a backup plan on the off chance he cops the snot vest. Unfortunately timing-wise we probably won't know that until half an hour into the Crows v Suns encounter.
Reckon both Goodes and Lloyd are the more likely candidates but you can never predict what might be going through a coach's head with 100% accuracy who may want to ease his young charger back into it.
For this reason I'll be putting Heeney on my bench regrettably. If Beams or Sloane are a late withdrawal I'll be forced to take Heeney's score regardless with Lewis and CEY already not available.
play NVB
only basis of this being his exp and age
Heeney coming off an injury more likely to SNOT
Hey community just wondering whether this is a good trade,
Newnes to Mckenzie and Salem to Goddard.
I could keep Newnes and get rid of mcintos instead but the Newnes trade leaves me with 100k which I can use next week for and upgrade.
Cheers thanks for any advice
Newnes to McKenzie. Salem to goddard
As Jock says in the podcast, you've got to ask yourself whether these trades increase the overall scoring capacity of your team?
I don't think your first option does this. Whereas by trading our McIntosh to McKenzie and upgrading Salem to Goddard… these trades DO increase the overall scoring capacity of your team. That's what I'd do.
Technically Macintosh is averaging more than newnes by .2 , and has a top score of 120 vs newnes 90. Seeing more upside in Macca at the moment, for me , I'm dropping newnes to Mckenzie . Either way newnes was gonna be on my bench anyway, so I'm going a week early on Mckenzie before newnes bleeds more money.
agreed newnes is being outperformed by pretty much every rookie, and mcintosh 34 breakeven 103, I say go for it
Only problem with the Newnes trade I have only 100k in bank and can't upgrade yolmen next week
It's not always about breakevens guys! Yes Newnes has underperformed, but he has potential to score a lot more than he has been. Whereas McIntosh is only there for cash generation, therefore his BE matters a lot more. I will personally be holding Newnes and upgrading elsewhere. If he's still only providing 70's by the time I've for a full premo team, I'll upgrade him then, and only then.
It may be right, it may be wrong, but that's what I'm doing and why.
hold newnes
Don’t fall in love with a Cash Cow!
They are there for one reason only, and that is to make cash, the quicker the better.
This year we have been blessed and there seems to be a few more hitting the bubble in a few weeks time.
The challenge this year will be to turn them in to cash and ultimately into premiums with limited trades.
During the byes we have 3 trades, I’m I think that might be to late for most of our rookies, we need to start the cull now.
I have started with a “Lame” policy, meaning if any of my fattened cows become sick or lame, they get the chop.
Heeney went last week, CEY is going this week.
They have to go and this way is the most humane way I can think of.
Flipside derek, three price rises in and has already made 200k, so much more to make. Emergencies are there for a reason so why not use them?
No trade down options beside Glenn, who breaks the only trade rookies on the bubble rule. I'm holding
he won't make any cash if he is out for 3 weeks.
I'm not trading down this week, I'm trading up because I have a warchest from selling Heeney.
ruthless
i like it
cows are for slaughter, and we, the community are the butchers
Gday lads
Mitch Golby any thoughts?
Anyone considering Michael Barlow this week or next?
He's definitely on the radar with a few other fallen premiums.
Not this week as he needs to string 2 or 3 tons together first but he's on the watch list for sure.
Ross Lyon!!!
Cheers guys!
I know it's Ross Lyon Derek, ….but finding it tough to resist with Ellis-Yolmen & NVB in my side ready for the chop. I am a bit vulnerable this weekend….currently 380th overall and have lost Hodge, Lewis and Bennell (not trading any of them).

next or week after
Bat midfielder to bring in at around $550k mark. Looking for a keeper.
Current thinking is Kennedy.
Other thoughts are, can Scott Thompson continue in his rich vein of form, particularly given his favourable draw over the next 5 or so rounds, or will Sloan take some points back?
Can Kennedy reach his normal numbers or has Hannebery taken over for good?
Watson, will he be a top 8 midfielder?
Communities thoughts are always vaued.
Big ask to back a player on the wrong side of 30 with poor durability. JPK's a solid pick but not guaranteed to average 110+. Sydney's midfield's stacked and if Mitchell can stay in the team, more players to compete with in terms of contested ball and clearances. I'd prefer Heppell over Watson but for a midfielder under 550, Dangerfield at 520 is a bargain if you don't have him and is almost a lock to go 130+ against whats left of Gold Coast.
You even said “keeper” and then talked about Thompsons next 4 games being good. With keepers. You shouldn’t even worry about who they are playing. He not a keeper anymore
big POD = COTCHIN
he has had a pretty good season and has done nothing.
with all the media about him not being a great player, he could turn it up
Pick 2 on field from Cripps, Heeney, VDB, Krak or Miller.
I'm thinking Cripps and Heeney/Miller.
Cripps & Miller, Krak emerg
Cripps for sure, the rest need to avoid the vest first
With GCS injuries Miller will definitely avoid the snot vest, just not sure if he will shine or struggle with so many of the best 22 out.
Cripps, Heeney, Miller
Who should I get to partner Goldstein in the ruck? I have Minson at the moment and need to trade him. Or should I play TBC and wait a week?
Tough one as you must be feeling the pinch with Mino out for 3 straight weeks now.
Cordy was absolutely killed in the ruck last weekend and was eventually subbed off with a pitiful 23pts alongside his name but Bevo seems to love the guy or has a major problem with Big Will, maybe more to the point. There's something that just doesn't add up there.
Sauce Jacobs could be well under $500K in couple of weeks which is one suitor among a few who I'm eyeing for R2 in another fortnight. Still averaging 90 as disappointing as he's been and has excellent durability for a big man.
I'd hold on for one more week if you possibly can as TBC will probably exceed his BE even @Freo.
I’ll probably go Sauce. Wait a week or two for his price to hit bottom
I don’t have cover for Minson and have been taking the donut. I’m thinking of trading to nic Nat who is averaging 86. This is only about 10 points less than the top Ruckman (excluding goldstein who I have) and will generate 30k. Is this a good trade?
Remember those times when you're 5K short of the perfect trade. Unless upgrading to premo, hold Salem this week, will still make a little cash, every bit helps!
I know the feeling. I wanted to upgrade Griff to Pendelbury this week. $400 SHORT!!! Argggg…LOL
Would love to hold Dan but downgrading him and Webb is my last chance for a forward rookie for now
like playing fifa 15, having 20 shots on goal and loosing 1 nil to the opponent who has 1 shot on goal all game.
The urge to ditch Griff is becoming beyond intolerable. But I'm going to take a deep, deep breath and keep him in. Build war chest and go round by round.
But that URGE!!!! I'm going to trade Griff a couple times before the rollout but that's just to satisfy the itch. Will only go with Salem to Glenn.
Fantastic tribute to a lost plum. He was one of a kind. Or two.
James was always one to go for the ball, he didn't have to take it this far though.
why not wait a week on that trade? Salem is likely to still rise this week, whilst glenn has only played one game
Had Sheed penciled in for slaughter this week, now with CEY out for a couple (or more), not sure what to do. Sheed is capable of going 70-80 and making a bit more coin. CEY could make another $100k, but do I want to wait several weeks for that. Hmmm.
Sheed is not setting the world on fire but he is travelling okay. Breakeven of 33 is achievable this week. With no real downgrade options right now hold him
CEY is scoring like a borderline premium, unless you’re in desperate straits elsewhere in your team, hold him through the injury. Plenty more cash to be made on this plump calf.
I think if we keep CEY he will be fat and ready to slaughter at a different time to all of our other rookies.
This is a good thing, hold if it doesn't mean a donut.
SHEED has a BE of 33
if you have to hold then its not doom and gloom
Newton to Goddard
Hogan to Ziebell
or
Goodes to McKenzie
Newton to Pendlebury
thoughts?
Option 2, by a country mile.
Cheers
Option 2
I don't know why you would want to slaughter Hogan yet, plus Ziebell isn't a great option in my opinion.
Option 2 looks solid though, bit of a risk with McKenzie, but should be ok.
I'll go with option 2!
I'll slaughter Hogan next week for Goddard
Goodes needs to go this week
2. Pendlebury is a must
Ziebell = interesting POD
but you need Pendles
2
I can go Newnes or Macintosh to Mckenzie as option 1
I can to yolmen to Glenn as option 2
Either way I think I want to go Salem to Goddard
Any advice is helpful community
Who would you take our of pittard or picken? Or should I go right up to Rance though I think you would be paying overs at the moment. Want to move on Hunt.
Pittard, I can see him become Port's version of Brodie Smith
thoughts on ellis yolmen and rich out for glenn and kennedy? then next wekk get in goddard and mckensie for goodes and hogan/salem
Hi community!
Got a tricky little dillema for upcoming round 6.
CEY, Heeney (E) and Krakouer (E) on the bench. Currently Vandenberg, Cripps and Miller on the field. Put the V on Pendles, and the C on Fyfe.
Q1- Have I currently got the right rookies on the field? Or should Heeney and or Kraks be on the field ahead of one or two of the current onfield three?
B- Lets say Pendles comes out tonight and pumps out another 150. Obviously CEY will be put on the field and the C put on him. Taken off Fyfe as there is only a small chance he will outscore 150.
Q2- Which rookie would you take off the field to accommodate CEY?
I reckon there would be a lot of players having a very similar scenario this week as the one I have.
Love to hear some thoughts.
Cheers
G'day TOPHAWK, form line suggests you've got the right blokes on the park. Tough gig predicting rookie scores though. If you can E loophole any of them I suggest that.
VBerg plays Sydney in Sydney. Toughest game on paper out Cripps v Lions or Miller v Crows
I'm in a similar boat TOPHAWK.
Q1) I think you have the right rookies on the field (although IMO you could toss a coin between Heeney and Miller for the M8 spot).
Q2) Regardless of you who end up starting in M8, that's the person you should take off if you want to loophole using CEY. Cripps has the highest ceiling of all the mid rookies and has the easiest game on paper and should stay on.
Krak also has an easy game on paper, and whilst he is solid for a rookie priced player, he's never been known for throwning out monster scores.
I'm thinking of going CEY- Glenn then Salem to Goddard or JPK, would prefer JPK but i'll lose my mid/ fwd swing, is it worth it?
JPK > Goddard
Swing sets are pretty important so CEY-Glenn and Salem-Goddard sounds good
You can always buy another swing Jeff, chase the points mate.
G’day once again community
And great podcast again jock
So I’ve been looking at bringing in goldy for minson
I’ve had no cover so he needs to go and this is the first week I’ve been able too
But I’m thinking due to the price of goldy at over 600k
Is it worth maybe Ryder as he will be my f6 after the byes also save 100k for this week
Or just bring goldy in
I'd probably just go Goldy and pay the price premium since you have the coin available. At least you'll have the must have ruckman this season at R1 and can move on to other issues.
With Paddy there is always that risk of him going off the boil at some point, as in seasons past, so he is definitely better placed in the forward line where you have more options plus the ruck cover advantage.
does anyone know how long ellis-yolmen will be out for. He has been omitted for a hamstring injury but is not on the AFL injury list
hogan clarke or krak on field
Or Lonie?
Hogan
Clark
I don't want to cull salem because next week I will most likely double down trade and then in round 8 go Cripps to pendles, followed by goddard and franklin in round 9 and 10, thoughts?
Any reason you're waiting so long to bring in premiums? If you've got the cash to upgrade Salem this week then you should go for it.
agree. it is all about scoring points. get the premiums in as soon as you can so they can start scoring points for you.
Pavos I agree with Sarah and Derek although if you beleive in your trading plan stick to it. I'll be using a downgrade option next week possibly 2 depending on how Heeney goes
Great stuff boys
Just want to know who to get rid of for Priddis
Heeney or CEY
CEY
Thoughts on Priddis?! Nobody is giving him a look in!
only because there are some better options around the same price. I like him
Jock is a fan. Looks pretty good value but his average of 96 in the first 5 games is pretty ordinary for a midfield elite. No doubt he is missing the support of inside players like Scooter to help carry the midfield load.
Also the Eagles play @Port this weekend which is another thing not in his favour right now.
But if he can ton up on the weekend there would probably be more community buzz next week.
His BE is 109 so you're not going to lose much by waiting a week and hopefully, seeing him hit some form with a decent ton. I personnally wouldn't bring him in before seeing some more 100's, same with Parker.
I have the option of getting either JPK or Pendlebury this week, which one should I go?
you can't go past Pendlebury.
I'd extend to Pendles if you can. JPK is fantastically priced this week but Pendles is clearly a top 5 player that all coaches need to acquire at some point.
bewick out for Rance ? Thoughts ??
Sounds good
Bundy Christiansen has offered to look after James Kelly’s misses till he’s back in action
Lol!! How nice of him! Kelly's misses has just had a baby though so I'm not sure she needs looking after right now.
Stuck with Big Boy McEvoy as R2 at the moment – got the cash to bring in either Godlstein ($610K and probably close to his peak) or Stefan Martin ($570K and slightly under value).
I was leaning towards Martin due to the price difference, until the Lions brought Leuey back in. Should I just shell out the extra $40K for Goldy, or stick with a POD in Martin?
I reckon either could go big this week (Goldy against Richmond and Martin v Carlton), but nervous about the impact of Leuey on Martin's scoring potential. On the plus side, when they did play them together, Leuey spent most of the time up forward, and Martin still managed to get decent possession numbers and scored a 98 in week 2.
Hey Mister Spock,
What about Mumford? He's dropped about $100k but is averaging 94 due to 1 bad game with a score of 60-odd. I reckon he'll be a better pick up than Martin (since Leuy's in the side) and is a lot cheaper than Goldy.
Great tip Sarah, thanks! Had completely forgotten about Mummy – he looks to have settled down. My only concern with him is potential for injury, but he's priced really nicely, and sole ruck for GWS too.
Other option is just to hang on to McEvoy on the basis that I'll lose money by trading him out – historically he scores well against upcoming opponents, but I'm not convinced that we'll see the usual output from him due to ruck scoring changes and Ceglar taking the number one ruck spot at Hawthorn, gotta get in a premo pronto is my thinking.
I'd apply the KISS principle and just get Goldy in whilst you can. The Leuey inclusion can only hurt Martin's scoring for as long as the big Berger remains in that team.
Is Salem to Ziebell in forward line and Heeney to Glenn in midfield good trades?
I'm not a fan of Ziebell. There's far better options in the forward line in my opinion.
One week too early on Glenn and I wouldn't be taking on that risk especially if it's only to raise sufficient cash to get Ziebell in.
At this stage of the game you really want to be upgrading your cash cows to top 6 forward candidates like a Goddard, Dusty, Buddy, Gray etc.
Community,
I have Salem, Hogan, Clark, Tarrant and Lonie in my forward line, unfortunately only three of them can play on field. Which three should it be?
Thanks for all your help
Any suggestions for slaughtering the cash cows gratefully welcomed!
I'd bench the two Melbourne boys. They struggled against Freo last week and it doesn't get any easier with the Swans this week.
Okay so i'm in the same boat as all the people with Minson in their team, HOWEVER i don't have cover for him. I did have cover in Lycett but he was dropped so i had to trade him out.
SO I have minson as my M2 BUT i have no cover!!!
I'm just going for league wins, and this week i need one! I'm currently 1-3 & versing someone who is 3-1, so i can't have a 0 on my field as that's essentially a certain loss.
I don't really want to trade minson out though, he is a proven premium! SO would like some advice in what i should do.
My RUC&FWD structure:
Goldy, Minson (Read)
Gray, Swan, Walker, Hogan, Salem, Tarrant (Clark, Lamb)
25 trades left
$461,100 in the bank
After listening to the podcast, i'm starting to think Salem –> Ryder? I wanted to trade salem up next week to either Goddard or Franklin, but i can't get another 0. Can someone please help with what I should do?
Optimistic that he's a proven premium, everyone knew that he would have been the most negatively affected ruck based on last years stats with the new scoring. And now he's not getting a game. Common sense to trade him.
Well who would you trade him to?
Mumford and Jacobs are well below their starting prices. They're both good options. If I had to choose 1 though I'd pick Mumford as he's been more consistent so far this year than Jacobs.
so you don't think that salem –> ryder is a good option?
just do a straight trade minson –> mumford
If Minson can't get a game after Cordy was so awful last week there has to be another reason why he's out of the team. If it were me, I'd be trading Minson out. But it is your call after all.
Yes Salem to Ryder is a valid play.
This will at least give you some breathing space to work with and perhaps Mino will finally be an inclusion next week if Cordy has another shocker. He does appear to be on the outer will Bevo though for whatever reason.
Otherwise both Jacobs and Mummy will probably only be cheaper next week with BEs over 100 and you'll have ongoing ruck cover with Ryder in your forward line.
Do we think that Ryder will be able to keep scoring 90-100's for the rest of the year though?
I reckon about a 90pt average could be reasonably expected. Anything more than that would be a bonus in my book.
The fact that he'd be serving two purposes in terms of decent point generation as well as providing ruck cover I believe that would be sufficient as F6 material especially given the lack of other forward ruck options this season.
miller or vandenberg on field?
and which 3 of the following on field? hogan, salem, clark, tarrant, lonie – was thinking tarrant for sure but not sure who else.
Ripper as per usual!
Judd and Lekdog as the same people. Haha
CEY to go I reckon
No way! His worst score is 78. You gotta keep him, he still has plenty of money to make. It actually helps if he misses a game or two to stagger when our cash cows are ready for the slaughter instead of them all being ready at once. Do yourself a favour and just bench him.
IF he's out for 2 thats round 8, If the others are fit and getting games this is most games he has played in a row, he's played 6 games in total. Matt Crouch, brad crouch, Kerridge, grigg lyon and douglas vying for 2 spots. He's more likely to be the sub when he's back too. He will still make money but whats the use in using it 3-4 weeks time and then it's his bye
So, if I choose between heeney or him i'd rather CEY go and fatten up henney
Fair enough, your call. Heeney won't be making money for two weeks either til that 7 gets out of his rolling average.
What makes you think he won't be straight back into the side? He hasn't been the sub all year and has been keeping all those guys you mentioned out of the team! Anyway, I'll be holding him for now.
It's a risk yes but Matt Crouch has been injured he played more games and brad will be back in 3-4 weeks as will douglas.
I just think he will come back but too late to take advantage of his money gain.
Henney has a BE of 36 if he gets 66 he goes up 13k , if he gets scores like he's been getting he will get close to CEY by the time he's back.
Holding CEY is probably good for bench cover too.
I was going to get rid of Heeney but since he's back and CEY is out for a few i think he's a better choice to Cull. They both get me the Premo i want but this way I have more in the bank.
