LekdogCommunity! Lekdog here with some mo’ supercoach news…

Today I wrap up round 3 and discuss Jimmy Bartel, the rucks and a little bit of madness…

As always I’d love to hear from you as to what you would like to see in these videos, if left to me the videos will progressively get angrier as Carlton performs poorly…

Lots of love, @LekBlog.

OldOcker · 21/04/2015 at 22:12

I am going to call it now. With Yarran out Carlton can't make finals.

    Ethan · 21/04/2015 at 22:47

with yarran carlton cant make finals

      scrofl · 21/04/2015 at 23:00

      That's the joke bud.

    The Ranger · 21/04/2015 at 22:49

Ocker! You're being cruel to poor Lekdog!
No on ever thought Carlton were gonna play finals.

      The Ranger · 21/04/2015 at 22:54

      (Sorry Lek, love ya work!)

      OldOcker · 21/04/2015 at 22:55

Sometimes I just can't help myself. You have to have a sense of humour to play Super-Coach or you will go stupid.

    LEKD0G · 21/04/2015 at 22:54

Might be right there mate haha

Huggy · 21/04/2015 at 22:21

With Yarran in – Carlton can't make the finals

r2d2 · 21/04/2015 at 22:21

Hey lekdog , good vid champ , just a quick question about Cripps ,, does he stay in blues team now for next few weeks at least ? Surely he does ..

    Jimmy · 21/04/2015 at 22:34

Yeah he should, but Im sure there are bigger priorities in your team to focus on. If not, you've walked out of a explosion with only a scratch.

      r2d2 · 22/04/2015 at 01:15

I do have wines …and McGrath as a fwd emerg, so maybe a cut and a couple bruises

    LEKD0G · 21/04/2015 at 22:55

Yeah mate, he's in their best 21 at the moment, should stay there.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 04:50

Seriously, who else have Carlton got to replace Cripps? If he’s fit, he’ll play.

Donavan · 21/04/2015 at 22:23

Would love to the see the weekly podcast on a youtube feed. It works on sound only, but how good could it be with vision.

Lekdog has led the way, come-on Jock & team, please follow.

    The Ranger · 21/04/2015 at 22:53

Nah mate, I have no desire to know what Crouching and Higgo actually look like.
    Sometimes less is more.

      Sam Loy · 22/04/2015 at 10:48

I have a sneaking suspicion that you will never see Crouching and Higgo in the same place at the same time.

        Sana · 22/04/2015 at 14:21

scrofl · 21/04/2015 at 22:39

I'm not happy with Maric's output, so I've traded him out for Swan (moving Bellchambers from the FWDs into the RUCs). Good move community?

    LEKD0G · 21/04/2015 at 22:56

I don't think it's a terrible move, obviously leaves you susceptible to Ruck injuries

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 04:51

Swan will definitely bring your team more points than Big Ivan, just hope Bellchambers can stay on the park long enough to appreciate in value before upgrading him

    General Soreness · 22/04/2015 at 10:42

Can you go TBC to Swan and leave big Ivan? Are better longer term move imho.

eatemalive · 21/04/2015 at 22:41

Lekdog mate, I hope for your sake the Blues have a win across the ditch, cos you are dribblin some lunacy about Smurphy – he's too soft mate ! Get some sleep soon….

    LEKD0G · 21/04/2015 at 22:56

Haha love it mate, you watch Murph get back to averaging around 110

      SideBySidebottom · 21/04/2015 at 23:02

      110 metres gained?

      olo · 22/04/2015 at 09:59

Murph was all in your teams at one stage in the past 3 years, so stahp talkin trash.

        eatemalive · 22/04/2015 at 10:14

Never had Smurphy ,I've had Judd before and have him this year as an upgrade. He's still your best player at Carlton.

Jacko · 21/04/2015 at 22:43

Hibberd, newnes and Johnson are my under performing defenders should I downgrade one o save money for midfield upgrades or upgrade one of them too a smith/hodge type

Or just stick fat…

    Shamus · 21/04/2015 at 22:45

I too have Hibberd and Newnes tempting to trade one of them for Malceski or smith. Newnes seems to have been one everyone feel for so far..

      scrofl · 21/04/2015 at 22:55

Definitely don't trade Malceski in at this stage of the season, his first 3 games have been horrible. He may come good towards the latter half of the season once he settles in at the Suns, but stay clear from him for now.

    Ethan · 21/04/2015 at 22:49

Newnes keep, he gets the pill a lot but just doesnt use it efficiently
Hibberd, i would keep just cause theres not really any one to downgrade to
johnaon- never liked him for supercoach but he's still up there and can score decent

    scrofl · 21/04/2015 at 22:52

I know its tempting to trade Newnes, but if you look at his stats in the games he's played so far this year, he definitely has potential. He's racked up a lot of possies, but its just his disposal efficiency thats killing his scores. Once he gets it from 45-50% up to 65-70%, we'll be seeing consistent 90+ scores from him.

    LEKD0G · 22/04/2015 at 00:12

Hold mate, Hibberd and Newnes at least. Johnson is a tougher one and I wouldn't be downgrading him, a potential upgrade/sideways could be in order

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 04:54

Hold Hibberd, he’s slowly getting better with each hit-out after that game-less pre-season.
Stick fat with Newnes at least another couple rounds. Still think he’ll come good.
Haven’t seen enough of Johnson to comment there.

    medadsson · 22/04/2015 at 14:06

The problem with Johnson, which appears to be one we both share, is that until Zac Dawson is back in the Freo team Johnson is playing more of a lock down role given that he and McPharlin are the two talls in Dockers backline and as such are going to the oppositions forwards 1 and 2. When Zac plays Johnson plays more of a sweeping role. Unfortunately I have other non performers to address (Griffen and Parker) and given the backline doesn't score as high as midfield that is where my priorities lay. As an aside, has anyone considered Pittard? Looks to have a pretty free wheeling role at Port.

      Madbuckers · 22/04/2015 at 23:59

Pittard can really butcher the ball but is cheap

Josh · 21/04/2015 at 22:57

Community what are your thoughts on me getting rid of Shannon Hurn? I bought him in as a POD who consistently scores well each year (and happened to go down injured during game last year which got his price down). My research also showed he was an inconsistent scorer week to week. Problem is West Coast look like a bottom 4 team and all their key defenders are stuffed so I reckon Hurn has changed his role. So lost….

    Boggers · 21/04/2015 at 23:48

Gone .. although it will be a sideways trade (presuming you have the 3 main rookies) and most defenders are up and down scoring wise so select carefully.

Flanno24 · 21/04/2015 at 23:01

Was thinking of swapping Griffen to a Brodie Smith type using Saad Newnes or Lumumba swing, or do I stay patient with Griff? I can see this sort of trade being reversed 4-5 times this week..

    Winter · 21/04/2015 at 23:09

I'm really liking Brodie Smith as an option but I wouldn't trade Griffin out yet. No for me

      SideBySidebottom · 21/04/2015 at 23:40

Griffen has a huge variance in scores. You'll have to take the bad to enjoy the good.

The Ranger · 21/04/2015 at 23:02

Some gold in there Lekdog, thanks mate.
Still not certain of what my trades will be this week but some timely reminders of how and why you should use trades.
Good onya.

4rm · 21/04/2015 at 23:17

I'm thinking Newnes to B Smith for peace of mind. Birch will save me about $50 k, which will be good for future upgrades. But I just think Smith will be the higher scorer for the year and this gets him over the line. Thoughts community.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 04:57

If that’s your greatest problem right now then do it.

Phil · 21/04/2015 at 23:17

Sloane, Fyfe or Franklin for Bartel? Given that I want all 3 in the near future I'm thinking the one with the best break even and draw is probably best. I'm leaning towards Sloane due to this

    Donavan · 21/04/2015 at 23:22

    Sloan, just over Fyfe.

Franklin is looking good, but always has a 3-4 week slump, wait till then to get him.

    The Bont · 22/04/2015 at 00:53

    Fyfe easily imo

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 04:59

If you haven’t got Fyfe already, then Fyfe! Just ahead of Sloane then Buddy.

NO SECOND PRIZES · 21/04/2015 at 23:17

Still Banging on about Zorko Lekdog??? Rocky is back soon and The great Zorko will score you 85-90 a week which equals NOT GOOD ENOUGH. If you want to spend that sort of money get a series premo not a pretender!!!

    OldOcker · 21/04/2015 at 23:34

There is no problem with criticism but it is always better if it is constructive.
Do you have a suggestion as to who the serious premo's are?

    SideBySidebottom · 21/04/2015 at 23:41

Series premos are always the best.

    NO SECOND PRIZES · 22/04/2015 at 00:30

Gray, Martin and Swan are the obvious FWD options that most probably have but after this I would probably trust Roughy and Franklin. Their low scores wont be as low as Zorko and high scores of 100+ will be more regular. Someone that doesnt get talked about enough is Dalhaus… costs less than zorko and will score 10+ points a week more.

      OldOcker · 22/04/2015 at 00:45

Fair call NSP, Like Dahlhaus myself, Jock gave him a mention last week.
Not to forget Lids and Bartell when they come back maybe.
Good answer and probably one that could have been used in your original comment.

Donavan · 21/04/2015 at 23:17

Has anyone confirm, did McIntosh (Rich) get injured?

    OldOcker · 21/04/2015 at 23:28

    Not to my knowledge.
    Mcgrath is injured (foot)
    Lamb is injured (knee)

AmateurSupercoacher · 21/04/2015 at 23:29

Thoughts on rischitelli?

    Dan · 21/04/2015 at 23:57

He's probably the worst option available out there at the moment save someone who's done an ACL and won't play for the next 19 weeks. The guy's an ageing midfielder who had barely averaged more than 70 for his entire career, he's not getting any better, he's an injury risk, he's an average player at best. Steer clear at all costs

    RobDog · 22/04/2015 at 00:48

Have been looking at Rischitelli but read today that Ablett thinks he is not too far off. A few weeks from now that might eat into Rischitelli's scoring.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 05:01

Not a top 10 midfielder, not even close. Might give you a 85-95 average if you’re lucky. Don’t bother. Upgrade only to premiums, especially in the midfield

Donavan · 21/04/2015 at 23:39

Thoughts please community.

OUT – Newnes & Shiel
IN – B.Smith & Bontempelli

Smith would be a keeper, and the Bont for cash generation, then flip to a Pendlebury or Kennedy (they will both drop in coming weeks).

    Dan · 21/04/2015 at 23:52

Why would you trade out Dylan Shiel? Did you start with him? He's averaging over 110 which is excellent

      Donavan · 22/04/2015 at 00:01

Yes, but watched him this weekend, and he couldnt get near it.

It was the first game against a good team, and they stopped him easily.

        Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 05:06

Don’t want to tell you how to run your team but trading out Shiel & Newnes? They’re both fit and after Rd2, Shiel had scored the most points in the ENTIRE game. Pure madness to trade him out after one bad game. I’m guessing you took P.Cripps out last week as well? And Oxley the week before?
At that rate, you’ll be spent after Rd15. In the end though, it’s your team. Do what you want

          Donavan · 22/04/2015 at 08:34

          No, your wrong.

The only players I have traded out are Rockliff, Ablett & Wells.

I have Cripps & Oxley and all the other top rookies.

            Scott · 22/04/2015 at 09:09

Would def not trade out Shiel – however, I'm also considering trading out Newnes.

Went the mid-priced strategy in my back line so have all of Lumumba, Higgins, Newnes and also Goodes. View was that hopefully 2 would emerge as locks and the others would be easy upgrades to back line premiums once they have emerged.

I want to get Brodie Smith into my back line. Was thinking of trading down Goodes to Harris Andrews, then upgrading either Newnes or Higgins to Smith. Don't want to have Goodes on my bench bleeding cash – so this trade will def be made. Upgrade Newnes or Higgins?

              Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 10:04

Goodes isn't going to bleed much cash. Just bench him and wait for a defensive rookie to be on the bubble. I don't think trading Goodes is as urgent as it's being made out to be. Wait for the team selection tomorrow, he might even be dropped and then you won't have to worry about the cash situation.
I personally don't know why people jumped on him?? At his age he was never going to be in the dogs long term plans and he's a poor user of the ball. You live you learn I guess!!

                Scott · 22/04/2015 at 11:06

Thanks Sarah – yes, Goodes was a gamble that didn't pay off. Didn't quite have the cash for T Hunt, which was my preferred option. In hind sight I could/should have pulled a bit of coin out of my midfield and gone with Hunt. As you said – live and learn!

He's def gone either this week or next. The vest is a worry and he is unlikely to break even this week – meaning he'll drop at least 30k if he's named. Should this be the case – I would lose the opportunity for an easy upgrade to a premium. If he doesn't play, prob safer to wait until next week and see who out of Byrnes and Andrews gets a game/performs/doesn't get the vest and E loophole him.

Still unsure about who to upgrade – Newnes or Higgins. Newnes prob has more upside if he can increase his DE. Higgins is a good user, but will invariably require a couple of goals to consistently score in the 90's – 100

Maybe I'll keep them both and bank the cash 😉

    General Soreness · 22/04/2015 at 11:05

    Waste of two trades.

If Newnes and Shiel are your only two problems your going very well.

    Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 16:02

Donavan, try this theory on for size: instead of trying to increase your maximum score (by trading out two players who have had down weeks and replace them with players on a hot streak), try to increase your MINIMUM score!

I guarantee that by the end of the year, if you go by this little spec of advice, >>you WILL score way more points<<. Look for weak spots in your team – players who often produce THEIR MINIMUM and try to eliminate them, players like cash cows and failed midpricers. If you don't have any (no cash cows are ready yet obviously), then you don't need to move anything on.

Newnes is starting to fall under the bracket I was talking about, but he's still scoring 70 odd points in a bad game, and by no means should you be happy with that, but SURELY there is somewhere else first that can be addressed first to raise the overall MINIMUM score for your team?

    Try it on for size.

stevie · 21/04/2015 at 23:53

Is it too early to jump on Birchall? Im thinking thumper to birch, what do u think community?

    Scott · 22/04/2015 at 19:27

I reckon its the best time to get him, he's only played two games and after this round his price will go up. In my opinion he's in the best 8 defenders. I would've had him in from the start of the season if he was fit.

    Bushy · 22/04/2015 at 22:12

Agree – i just upgraded Goodes to Birchall with my spare cash – do it – any time you can get a top 8er in you should take the chance

Bye Week · 21/04/2015 at 23:57

Would love to have this as an audio download as well Lek – This has been gold so far – but would be great to listen too whilst stuck in traffic

    LEKD0G · 22/04/2015 at 00:14

I'll see what I can do mate!

      nawtay · 22/04/2015 at 08:14

Hey Lek, last few weeks the audio has been real low on your vids. Just me or… ???

        scrofl · 22/04/2015 at 10:37

Turn the volume slider up mate.

        Bye Week · 22/04/2015 at 12:25

I havent had any issues – maybe just you?

And cheers Lek – keep up the good work!

Bye Week · 21/04/2015 at 23:58

Community thoughts on Jed Anderson, need to move him on?
Even with a late out for the hawks he still managed to take the vest again but the kid looks to have a lot of talent

jmy7 · 22/04/2015 at 00:01

Great work lekdog!! just wanting some mo peoples advice on this one!?

Birchall or houli

    LEKD0G · 22/04/2015 at 00:14

I'm looking at Houli this week but was heavily on the Birchall train preseason. Birchall should be more consistent

      Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 16:10

Lek, trust your logical brain, it looks out for the best long term future. Your emotional brain wants a better today, but can't see further than that.

      Logical – Birchall
      Emotional – Houli

        jmy7 · 22/04/2015 at 21:48

yeah, we are all thinking we want houli, but birchill is in hawthorn… so!!!?

randomcliche · 22/04/2015 at 00:24

Crazy, love it. Might have to reverse the Krak…hmmm what about tarrant?

    scrofl · 22/04/2015 at 10:38

Don't bother with either until they've played at least 2 games.

throttlefinger · 22/04/2015 at 01:10

Schizo round for sure, Lek. Mummy, Griff and Bartel really dropped a scoring piano on our heads. (at least Jimmy had an excuse…although I agree, long sleeves, knee stays intact!)

Solid insight about Goodes and midpricers in general. Either up or down. Thinking I'm gonna take my Bartel trade loot and get Brodie Smith in. 87 after a concussion…I'll take that. Think an aggressive Doggies will make Broman ton up by start of 4th. Giving KK another week. He may be one I go down for either Andrews or Kelly if they repeat round 3 form.

Brilliant video, my man. Hope next week you're singing Everyday Sunshine.

Brewmaster · 22/04/2015 at 01:34

Love it Lekdog! It's been a crazy few weeks.

Am I going crazy, if I think Goodes to T Hunt is a worth while trade?

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 05:09

Would’ve been a good move last week. Not so sure now, costs alot more

Brewmaster · 22/04/2015 at 01:47

^ who can I down grade to, have McIntosh, Saad, Oxley. And don't have the $ to get a back premo.

Wouldn't normally bring in a mid pricier. Or just hold Goodes, hoping his game time improves.

Thoughts please Community.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 05:33

Hamling might come in now with Morris out, but wait two weeks. Byrne from Carlton maybe? Should probably wait a week there though. Or last resort, non-playing dpp as loophole option.

    Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 12:20

If you don't have Nathan Krakouer, there is a way you can get him in for goodes. All you need to do is swing a player into the backline if you have the option to. I had Higgins up FWD, so i traded out goodes, put higgins down back, and traded Kraks in the forward line.

Obviously you need to have a player who can go into the backline elsewhere for this to work, and it may not apply to you, but hopefully this helps at least one person out there to at least double check the opportunity for this type of move in their team.

    Bye Week · 22/04/2015 at 12:29

Holding Goodes MIGHT be a solid move now that the doggies injuries are piling up. As it may decrease his chances of grabbing the vest. He just needs to play a full game.

      Seaice · 22/04/2015 at 13:44

Holding Goodes myself, not worth using a trade for him until byes or later having him covered atm.

    wombat · 22/04/2015 at 13:41

Kelly could be worth a look after setting the tackle record for a first gamer he should get 3 at least games

Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 05:50

Downgrading Bartel to upgrade Goodes? Actually think that’s a decent idea. Only downside is that premo forwards are more expensive (and scoring better than premo backs), might be harder to get them in later. Need to do something with Goodes, he will drag your team down. And your position right now isn’t that bad (18k?). Nice video!

P.S. Is that Ron Burgundy’s Mo in the background? Is that what you’re aiming for? 😉

    Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 12:24

Said this in a comment further up – if you have a def/mid or def/fwd in your fwd or mid line, you could trade out goodes, swing that player down back, and trade in Nathan Krakouer (or one of the other mids/fwds if you missed one earlier), then you could use that money to upgrade Bartel for pretty much anyone.

Northerner · 22/04/2015 at 05:52

Lamb has just gone under the knife. Out for 8. Looks like 4 of my first 5 trades will be LTI with Ablett, Bartel, Wines and now Lamb. Lucky I have not had to do any major corrective trades. Issues like Griffen – stick fat- that some are talking about are not issues at all. Griff will pull out a 160 soon and then his price will be back at or above his starting price – when most of your premiums will lose on average their 8% starting price inflation. Trade at the byes if you have made the call you don’t want him as a keeper. He is a precious Rd 13, so you get to choose the best of the Rd11 and 12 bye round fallen premiums as a straight swap.

nathan · 22/04/2015 at 06:31

Many under performing blokes in my team

parker danger gray walker newnes griffen nic nat minson

i need them to lift a little

Nic nat and minson im a little harsh on but need more

Parker danger and griff all getting 70 odd this week is killing my soul

Are these fellas gonna start pumping out some decent scores or do i start some trading to get premis in?

I need to get slone in soon

    Mister_Spock · 22/04/2015 at 10:39

Parker had a good Round 1, then was concussed, so could be just a temporary drop in performance until he fully recovers.
Danger was heavily tagged this week – prior to that he was travelling OK – guess it will depend on whether teams try to rough him up like Bernie did on the weekend. Crows still have a soft draw leading up to the byes.
Griffen has always been a relatively inconsistent scorer. He will probably manage to average 105-110, but do this by scoring 70's and 140's week-to-week.

      nathan · 22/04/2015 at 12:21

Yeah thats my thoughts just frustrating
I think i have a good team but they just cant seem to put it together all at once

        Mister_Spock · 22/04/2015 at 12:41

Same here – injuries have wreaked havoc with my team (Gablett, Bartel, Wines, Lambert, Lamb). Always difficult call sideways trading your premos, generally something to be avoided as it's just as likely that their form will change.

Out of the three, Griffen is the most sketchy, but he's good for the bye rounds as GWS don't have their break until Rd 13 – gonna hold him until then and hope he doesn't drop in value substantially, and upgrade to a fallen premium. I'd be confident of Parker coming good (he had 35 and 30 possessions in Round 1 & 2) – he had a ripper end to last year. Dangerfield should at least hold his value to the bye rounds as he was probably slightly underpriced at the start of the season.

sean · 22/04/2015 at 07:41

hold or trade Waliis?

    BKW · 22/04/2015 at 08:05

Not sure – he was looking like a nice mid priced cash cow after the few games before getting injured and scoring very low last week. Unfortunately that low score will be in his average until he plays the third game back from injury, meaning he won’t make you any coin until about round 8/9.

If there is an opportunity to upgrade to premo or downgrade to a hot rookie and upgrade another to premo, I’d probably make the move. Otherwise hold and play a rookie in his place for the next few weeks.

    scrofl · 22/04/2015 at 10:40

I say hold. Most midfield rookies are scoring pretty damn well, just slap Wallis on the bench for a few weeks.

Jordo · 22/04/2015 at 07:42

Community I would like some wisdom on Shannon Hurn. West Coast key defenders are going down left right and centre, and the proposition of him filling one of those posts as well as his putrid scoring output is making me consider a trade to a Brodie Smith type very strongly. Trade or hold?

    phil · 22/04/2015 at 11:36

I reckon trade Jordo. Smith will be number one defender and Hurn won't be top ten so the points difference will be enough to justify a trade.

Jess · 22/04/2015 at 07:44

How do these trades sound?

Out – McEvoy and KK
In – Grundy and B Smith

Had to start McEvoy when Lobbe was a late out in round 1 so it was a forced decision. In hindsight I should have gone for the other option in Blicavs. (Have only used one trade so far on Gaz to Sloane).

I realise Grundy will more than likely need an upgrade but he can sit there until his bye. Also has a fairly soft draw in ruck opponents until then. Luckily I have Goldy at R1.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 08:37

    Make those trades!

    jdOzman · 22/04/2015 at 09:25

Agree. I actually think Grundy may do juuuuust enough to keep at R2 this year. I’m kicking myself because I had him in my squad pre-season, and then didn’t have the aggots to go with it.
And Smith is a gun. He lock. He bloody lock! 😛

    Mister_Spock · 22/04/2015 at 10:29

Doing similar this week. Also brought in Big Boy based on NAB form, but he's spending too much time up forward. Reckon I'll go Grundy over Smith/Blicavs and then forced to trade Bartel to Dusty.

Sparrow · 22/04/2015 at 07:50

Is 8 trades for injuries enough for the rest of the year?

    Mozz · 22/04/2015 at 07:54

after the byes you'll want about 9-10 trades

    Spencer · 22/04/2015 at 08:26

I have 25 trades left 16 for upgrades of 8 players on the field to premos and 9 for injuries. Hoping it'll be enough

sean · 22/04/2015 at 08:16

thought on robbie tarrant?
could be a good upgrade option in a few weeks

    Deadly · 22/04/2015 at 09:03

    Yes he should be

    Phil · 22/04/2015 at 11:32

Yeah very good Sean. I'm not a North supporter so could be wrong, but I'd keep an eye out on how Grima's and Hansen are travelling in there recoveries as these are two players who could force him out

    SideBySidebottom · 22/04/2015 at 14:07

His injury history is the major concern.

Harry · 22/04/2015 at 08:17

Trading Malceski to Mcdonald
Trading Lycett to Blicavs
Is this is a good trade or are there better options?

    harbl100 · 22/04/2015 at 16:03

do you think McDonald is a season keeper?

Spifflicator · 22/04/2015 at 08:27

Thanks Lek, quality video this week. Loved it.

I’m going all premo this week. Wines to Sloane, Bartel to Dusty.

Antonio · 22/04/2015 at 08:43

What do we do with Jed Anderson?

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 09:16

Bench him and hold for at least another week. Wait for Krakouer to play his second game and if it's decent and he's named for a third game then make the switch with Anderson. Right now there aren't any decent trade options that are on the bubble so hold. I've got him too.

      Antonio · 22/04/2015 at 09:33

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. What’s the community doing with McGrath now that his injured?

        Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 09:37

I've got Lamb so similar situation but without having made any money. I'm holding for the moment until a rookie comes along who's on the bubble. Will be using him for loopholing til then.

    Phil · 22/04/2015 at 11:29

I'd hold Anderson especially since you have the extra midfielder this year so essentially he's like your R4 of previous years. There's gonna be a game soon where he's not sub and will scores well.

Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 09:14

Was hoping to not be forced into any trades this week but the supercoach gods had other ideas!!
So 1 trade for me this week – Bartel to Franklin. Was tossing up Franklin and Dusty, but I'm not convinced on Dusty yet with the opposition he's faced, whereas Franklin is actually showing consistent form. Likewise with Bontempelli, I'm not comortable trading in a second year player on a hot streak of form cos it never lasts. He'll come back to earth soon enough. But I am putting him on my watchlist for future years!
Will continue to hold the likes of Griffin and Newnes. At worst they should hold their prices and if they don't lift their output they'll be my final upgrades.
If Anderson is again the sub, scores average or doesn't play, he'll likely become Krakouer next week. Other than that I'll be looking to hold my trades until the cashcows are ready to be cashed in.
Good luck in round 4 community!!

    eatemalive · 22/04/2015 at 10:21

Sarah, I'm also bring in Buddy but at the expense of Deledio. Whilst Buddy has a BE of 108 against Freo he has been playing on wet tracks of late and the draw really opens up for the Swans after this week and likewise I'm stearing clear of Bont ATM

    steve · 23/04/2015 at 08:18

Hey Sarah, same with me – contemplating Griffin out but for who? or sort out goodes (downgrade) and Hamling – one is chasing points second option more strategic to earn some coin? could go griffin -> bonts – > or Neale……….

      Sarah · 23/04/2015 at 08:23

Hi Steve, Trading out Griffin screams of chasing points to me. I have him and will be keeping him for the time being. He has a history of being inconsistent, we need to be patient for the high scores but they will come! If you have a full defence I'd just bench Goodes and wait for a rookie on the bubble if you don't have the money to upgrade him. We all though Fuller would play last yet but didn't, so it's very risky to predict which rookies will get games in the future.

    Kev · 23/04/2015 at 09:32

Fantastic reading a trade plan that has some thought and logic behind it!

      Sarah · 23/04/2015 at 09:44

Thanks Kev! How's your team looking?

Adam · 22/04/2015 at 09:21

Question guys, whats the paper symbol coming up beside different players name ie swan gray etc

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 09:32

It's player notes. If you click on it there are some comments under the 'full profile' button.

zeesus · 22/04/2015 at 09:21

Community, I need some help!
I need to get rid of Bartel and with $180k in the war chest that means I can pick up anyone.
However, I am nervous about B Goodes and with a bit of fiddling I could potentially pick up any of these combos:
Swan & Lumumba, Shaw & The Bont, Franklin & Lumumba etc etc
I have $956,700 to play with. Alternatively, I just burn one trade getting rid of Bartel and sit on the rest. Thoughts?

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 09:34

I'd use one trade and sit on the rest. Can you just bench Goodes and forget about him for a week? If yes, I'd do that and wait til you can get a rolled gold backline upgrade rather than Lumumba. But that's just my opinion. I'm not a fan of Lumumba, he's too inconsistent for me.

      zeesus · 22/04/2015 at 10:07

The other option is to go Swan and Oxley and put the $255k away for later upgrades. Seeing as Oxley will create a bit of cash. I guess it's a money vs trade dilemma.

        Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 10:16

Oxley is one option. He's predicted to go up by $77k by Supercoach Gold. Alternatively, 3 cheap defensive rookies made their debut last weekend, if you hold Goodes one more week you can get a look at their second games then pick off the best one.

    Mister_Spock · 22/04/2015 at 10:25

Unfortunately you've missed out on the big price rises on Swanny and Oxley, although they're still going to go up – Oxley by another $100-150K at worst, and Swan is about as cheap as you'll get him all season I reckon. Every man and his dog will have these two players as they've been pretty consistent so far, and Oxley may even be a keeper at D6. Bartel > Swan and Goodes>Oxley is pretty solid

    Canardly Cee · 22/04/2015 at 20:07

Agree with Sarah – stick to one if you can help it. 30 trades seem like alot, but you'll need them as theyear goes on!

Edward · 22/04/2015 at 09:43

how are the trades looking?

lambert > krakeor
goodes> a safer cash generation rookie. thinking maybe Ramsay as i already have: Oxley, Saad, Mcintosh. open to sugestions.

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 10:07

Wait a week. 3 backline rookies made their debut last weekend. Pick the best one after their second game for the Goodes trade when they're on the bubble.

      Spifflicator · 22/04/2015 at 11:09

      Sound advice

      TRIGGER HAPPY · 22/04/2015 at 13:36

That one will be Kelly. 10 tackles in his first game he is a contested ball gem.

        Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 13:41

As a crows fan I'd watch his second game closely. Is a lock down defender and the conditions suited him with his tackles. Watch his performance under the roof at Etihad this Sunday to get a better picture of his output.
But yeah, 10 tackles on debut is huge!! Won't get huge disposal numbers though.

    Phil · 22/04/2015 at 11:21

Yeah I agree with Sarah buddy you'll have a lot more information on which back rookie is best if you wait a week. Hamling will probably play this week too to replace Morris.

I'd even wait a week for the other trade too. Let Krakouer play his second game first, you might find one of your other players is better to trade into him then as Lambert generates no cash.

El Bomberdero · 22/04/2015 at 09:56

Thoughts on Judd and Jeremy Cameron out for Kracker and Goldstein by switching Bellchambers to fwd???

    El Bomberdero · 22/04/2015 at 09:59

or I could afford Lin Jong as the mid

    Derek · 22/04/2015 at 13:21

Unless Judd or Cameron injured, hold them

Brillsy21 · 22/04/2015 at 09:56

Is Robbie Tarrant just FWD or BACK and FWD?

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 10:16

    Just Fwd

Nicholas · 22/04/2015 at 10:17

Griffen and Newnes are my main problems. I am also trading lambert to krak. Do I hold on to these guys? I could also even upgrade tbc into a full promo as I have 250k in the bank right now. Any suggestions are helpful.

    General Soreness · 22/04/2015 at 10:49

Griffen and Newnes are not problems. They are essentially playing to their price and thus gives you time to deal with them. Neither of them are producing the excess of output as may have been expected but they are not disastrous. Bringing krak in will happen for all and it is just a question of should it be done this week or next.

With the cash in bank think about your trade outs and ins over the next few weeks will spending it now leave you short on upgrading more to premos. Whilst I am not a fan of the TBC option if you can hold him as bench / ruck cover (presumably what you got him for) then perhaps the $250K in a few weeks can be spent turning two fattened cows into full premo. I am not saying do not do it now, just suggesting you think about the trades over the next few weeks. The article in the mag on trading is a belter and would assist.

      Nicholas · 22/04/2015 at 12:37

So hold on to griffin and Newnes?

        General Soreness · 22/04/2015 at 14:24

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 11:13

If Griffin and Newnes are your main problems then you're doing well!

    Derek · 22/04/2015 at 13:19

I have both Griffin and Newnes and didn’t even know they were a problem until you mentioned it.

They doing ok and no need to panic trade them

Danger · 22/04/2015 at 10:43

2095 last week with 450k in the bank.
Thoughts on dumping N Brown and Lycett and upgrading to Shaw and Dusty.
Any better suggestions?

    Kev · 23/04/2015 at 09:28

General Soreness · 22/04/2015 at 10:45

Lek mate ripping vid, the pains and frustrations are clearly evident in the slightly disheveled look and unkept mo.

Clearly the descent into madness has no bottom, although suggesting picking Lindsay Thomas has got to mean it is close.

Thomas falls incredibly foul of my no d**kheads policy, in fact I think he is a founding member. He also falls foul of my I cannot stand to watch the acting ponce and cant have him in my team policy. Again a founding member.

Rick Grimes · 22/04/2015 at 11:21

There is a lot of talk about trading Hibberd/Newnes types. The way I see it these guys aren't going great guns, but they probably aren't far off knocking out a big score. Defenders in general will be inconsistent, there is every chance Brodie Smith will bang out a 75 this weekend. My strategy will be to hold fire for a few weeks and fatten my rookies. Upgrade those to premos and then worry about whether Hibberd is a D5 or 6 keeper.

    Kev · 23/04/2015 at 09:28

Agree Rick, just gotta sit with what you have at the moment unless there is a role change/LTI. When it's time to upgrade the community will have a larger data range to consider

NateCrows · 22/04/2015 at 11:47

Nice vid mate, ^^ supercoach has started producing spiders under your skin.

I have bartel and i have gray in the middle. Thinking trade bartel, swing gray into the forward line and sure up my defenders hodge and swing him back?

    Derek · 22/04/2015 at 13:17

Did you see Hodge sitting on bench for last 10 mins. This is what Hawks do.

      Rick Grimes · 22/04/2015 at 13:35

      He scored 170.

        Kev · 23/04/2015 at 09:26

Week before he had 30 touches for 82. Chasing the car trade

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 14:12

I like the trading options. However, Hodge has only had 1 decent score. He won't score 177 every week. What about Brodie Smith? There are a couple of good defensive options for you to choose from. Just make sure you're not chasing last week's points. Bring in the player who you believe will average the most points from this point onwards.

Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 12:37

Just wanted to get the quick thoughts of the community.

If my team is looking okay with no real issues other than to stick fat and wait for my cash cows to fatten up, and considering the devastating news at the lions for those three players going down, what are your opinions of trading out Jaden McGrath ($164,700 and 2-3 months out injured) for another FWD rookie such as Ahmed Saad ($182,200)? (already have Hogan, Clark, Salem and Lonie)

Saad, I would think, has pretty solid job security. That way I can save those PRECIOUS rookies in the coming rounds for slaughtering cash cows, rather than filling holes.

Please commuinty!! Help me decide what to do for my teeniest of supercoach issues in my landmine-dodging team before one gets me!

    Dave · 22/04/2015 at 13:24

Wait for krakour, saad hardly scores enough to justify that price

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 13:38

If you have enough players that you don't have a donut on the field, then I'd say wait a week and trade in Krakouer after his second game. Otherwise, if you need someone to fill a hole on the field, make sure he's selected to play and isn't the sub, then trade him in before his game starts on Saturday night for McGrath.

      Tigertanic · 22/04/2015 at 16:18

      Cheers Sarah!

I'm playing some shifty-buggers to get rid of Goodes (BE of 98, don't want to lose any more cash from him – I'm going for rank) and getting kraks this week (call me crazy).

I think I'll wait a week and see how Robbie Tarrant fairs, if he pops another decent score and the press is still good around him, I'll take him. If not, I'll sit on McGrath for a bit and maybe something will jump at me later. Thanks for the reply!

    Avzmo · 22/04/2015 at 14:07

I'd look at Krakeour or Tarrant to fill that hole over Saad. But unsure if Krak will be a future vest candidate and/or what his job security is.

Steve · 22/04/2015 at 12:55

bellchambers and lambert too Sloan and bont

M.Clarke and n.brown too bont and hodge

Not sure If I should strengthen my midfield bringing in sloane or just take van Berlo, heeney and ellis yoleman score then work on the rest.

    Steve · 22/04/2015 at 12:55

    (Got 665k too play with)

      Dave · 22/04/2015 at 13:17

I personally think you should hold unless n brown is on your ground. The aim of the game in the early part of the season is to generate as much cash as possible. And your rookie mids will do that. As well as Clark. I don’t understand the obsession of trading in guys like Sloane and hodge now, you are simply chasing scores. at one point in the year you will get them both much cheaper. For Bellchambers it depends on the reason you got him and if whether or not at a time when your rucks are injured you want that cover. In that lot of players the only guy id trade would be lambert as he is injured or n brown if he’s on your ground.

      Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 13:43

That's way too much money to be sitting in your bank at this stage of the year. You don't want to be culling a cash cow too early though. Do you have any midprice issues in your team? The players you've mentioned, apart from Lambert, aren't ready to be traded out yet.

        Steve · 22/04/2015 at 16:48

Just bellchambers really. The only other 2 I have is rich and newens

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 16:13

Make that first set of trades, don’t even hesitate. You’re bringing in two keepers for an injured player and an inevitably injured player.

      Steve · 22/04/2015 at 16:35

Yeah I think so the only thing is if I should hold bellchambers and if bont is a legit keeper

    Steve · 22/04/2015 at 16:34

Hey thanks for your opinions, it’s the cash I made from Ablett last week. I downgraded him for the time to get a rookie in. Now looking to spend the money. Would like to get those 2 as I think there keepers. Or Sloan since he will be a top 5 midfielder the whole year. Also got bellchambers to have ruck cover but his been poor so far but I would like too hold him

steve · 22/04/2015 at 13:00

Hey guys great work – one quickie would i be stark raving bonkers to downgrade Griffin to Heeney to give me only 4 keepers. initial starting strategy was to go with 6 to upgrade just 2, but griffin is so bad, leaking money and heeney will still go up might even be an m8? would pocket $121 for future upgrade. Also dumping goodes for byrne? cheers boys

    Ben · 22/04/2015 at 13:42

Tempting, but I reckon hold Griffen.

      steve · 22/04/2015 at 15:22

cheers fella's – or would you just ditch griffin and replace with Bonts to midfield then fwd line next week

    Avzmo · 22/04/2015 at 14:10

Wouldn't bother, the way everyone is talking Griffens breakeven is like 200. His breakeven this week is somewhere between 100-110 so I think if you went with him to start, hold for now.

I do not see any world where Heeney would be an M8 keeper at year end. Byrnes not gonna make you much more cash than Goodes, if you already have all the other cash cow defenders (Saad, McIntosh, Oxley) perhaps its worth holding Goodes as he won't really drop in price.

      Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 14:13

Agree. No way Heeney, or any of the rooks, will turn into keepers.

        steve · 22/04/2015 at 15:58

        mcKintosh on the pine?

          Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 16:03

Who have you got on the field?

            steve · 23/04/2015 at 08:25

            newnes – shaw – simpson – mckintosh – oxley – saad
            parker – griffin – pendles – lewis – selwood – fyfe – (CEY / cripps / vandeberg / newton)
            bellchambers / maric
            walker – swan – gray – martin (clark – hogan – mcarthy – salem)

              Sarah · 23/04/2015 at 08:30

So who would you be benching McIntosh for? That defence looks pretty solid with those 3 rookies playing beyond expectations. Most people will have at least 2 on the field. You've got a decent team. Conserve your trades. I don't see any urgent trades there at all.

                steve · 23/04/2015 at 10:07

                steve · 23/04/2015 at 10:09

was going to do goodes (crap) for byrne and cripps for lambert (injured)

                  Sarah · 23/04/2015 at 10:14

Byrne's injured too… Hamstring. Trade Cripps after an 89 and he hasn't had a chance to appreciate in value yet… crazy!! Keep him and keep Goodes until there's a clear rookie downgrade option, which could come this week if Kelly and Andrews play their second games… even Whitecross could be a good option for Goodes after this week. You don't need to trade this week, hold.

                    steve · 23/04/2015 at 17:10

                    thanks appreciated

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 16:15

I’m more worried that you didn’t have Heeney to start with. Would still hold Griffen for now

Ben · 22/04/2015 at 13:41

Anyone else holding 2 non-playing rookies on their bench? I have Lamb and McGrath up forward … should I burn a trade to bring in Krak?

    Brook · 22/04/2015 at 13:59

I would hold for this week and use them as loopholes. I made the mistake last year of bringing in one-game rookies. Hold till on the bubble if u can … U get double the information on which to base your decision.

      Brook · 22/04/2015 at 14:01

Didn’t realise they are on the same line … That changes things a bit as u can’t use them as loopholes but I would still hold if you have six playing Fwds

        Locked and Loaded · 22/04/2015 at 14:03

Trade Lamb if he is not named this week, if he can't get a game this week he never will

    Bring in Krak I reckon.

My trading plan is to hold until round 7 to make upgrades. The talk about Brodie smith is tempting me to grab him now but can’t help thinking his price may drop and I can pick him up in round 12 after his bye. I know he has a good run to the byes but is he a must have now?

    Locked and Loaded · 22/04/2015 at 14:06

I am in the same boat love the way Brodie Smith is going right now but is he a must, not sure

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 14:15

He'll only go up so much in price, so I don't see him as a must have now. But he is a must have before the end of the year.

    Canardly Cee · 22/04/2015 at 20:10

Had a similar plan until Bartel's knee went bust! Now have to use at least one.

Gareth · 22/04/2015 at 14:21

I am thinking of side-trading Deleido for Swan, Buddy, Dusty or a good midfielder? Any advice?

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 16:03

Take care of your forward line. Bring Swan in if you don’t already have him. Or flip a coin on the other two

      Gareth · 22/04/2015 at 16:58

Thanks mate. The big question is can Swan maintain his average/role in the midfield?

        Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 20:14

I’m quite sure Swan is a top 6 forward if he stays fit so you need him in there. Deledio was subbed out after three quarters of footy and missing the next three matches (most likely). Can’t have him right now (coming from a one-eyed Tigers supporter).

Westy · 22/04/2015 at 14:47

Initially looked at trading out Mummy for Grundy. Then found out courtesy of McGrath and Lamb being LTI and H Goddard not having played that I would have a donut on the field.

Out: McGrath and bank the little he had made – Swing Bont back into the FWDs after I'd swung him to the mids last round to get Cripps' E. In – Krak as a Mid bench to get back the F/M swing.
Out: Goodes – Swing H Goddard to DEF. In – Swan.

Outcome – 1 additional premo on the field and a playing E in the fwds.

    Sarah · 22/04/2015 at 15:35

Nice work! Keep Mummy. He'll lift his scoring and once he's in his price doesn't matter.

    Craig · 22/04/2015 at 21:57

As a one eyed pies supporter, happy to say don't know about all this Grundy talk. Witts is getting back to match fitness in the 2's and I think he was the no.1 ruck for most of the last half of 2014. Grundy and Witts both played most matches which affected both of their scores. I would hold Mummy if I had him. I have Maric who's not setting the world on fire, but it is only round 3!

Hazey · 22/04/2015 at 15:20

Bartel to Jobe Watson via Swanny swinging fwd?

Or hold this week to Krak/Tarrant next week and bank the $$$ for later?

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 15:59

    Premo to premo, all good

    northernsoul74 · 22/04/2015 at 16:02

I like it. Swan should be in your forward line already, wasting a mid spot. Watson looks in great form.

      Hazey · 23/04/2015 at 08:12

Snuck Swan in last week for Wells with the cash left over from Gaz. Was just waiting for an opportunity to swing him down.

Bringing in Watson leaves me with nothing in the bank, but I reckon with all rookies looking good I can sit for 4-5 rounds and watch the fattening.

(Now I’ve said that injury Armageddon will ensue!)

    Scott · 22/04/2015 at 19:42

Looks good, Jobe is a keeper, still look at Krak next week.

      Hazey · 22/04/2015 at 21:02

I’ve been a bit beige on Watson for some reason, but he is giving me a few tingles down beolow

Aaron · 22/04/2015 at 15:31

Who is the best forward option under 430k J.martin, Bont, higgins thoughts who should i pick i was leaning towards bont but he is in 45 percent of teams maybe i should take a gamble.

    Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 15:57

Bont, no ifs ands or buts

Girdle · 22/04/2015 at 15:56

Just a quick one on the Bont: with Bartel & Deledio injured plus Goddard struggling to hit the ton, surely Bontempelli is a top 6-10 forward. So why would you even hesitate getting him in at $422k? I’d be interested to know who everyone think would squeeze him out of a top 10 spot up forward.

    Bye Week · 23/04/2015 at 16:31

Word I keep hearing is that bont has played two below avg teams and hasn't copped a tag, and that will definitely change soon. Which is very valid points. Also the injuries to the doggies will only add to the attention he will recieve

      Girdle · 23/04/2015 at 17:34

Even so, you still think he’s not a top 10 forward for the year? I beg to differ

        Tim Darbyshire · 24/04/2015 at 08:45

10th at best! Would rather have grey, buddy, dusty before The Bont.

Aaron · 22/04/2015 at 16:00

Very valid point you have there girdle i would only pick 4-5 players over bont

northernsoul74 · 22/04/2015 at 16:01

Bont is the best under 430k. Motlop was suggested on another thread which I quite like but he's just over I think. The question would be who are you trading to get this <430k player? Instead of bringing in a <430k player maybe you should hold a trade until you can afford the right premium forward.

    Tim Darbyshire · 23/04/2015 at 10:16

He hasn’t played against a top team yet. Plus a tag might be coming!

Pete · 22/04/2015 at 20:35

How many trades do we need to keep for injuries alone for the year !? Trying to plan for the year and tearing my hair out. Estimating I'll have 9

    SideBySidebottom · 22/04/2015 at 21:25

If you have no injuries this year you won't need any injury trades. If you have five injuries you'll need at least five trades unless you downgrade for cash generation and that will obviously require an extra trade for each of those decisions. None of us have a crystal ball and that makes it tough to judge. I've had four LTIs in three weeks and that extrapolates to 28 trades if that trend holds. Even I'm not that unlucky so the LTI rate should drop but to what, who knows. In contrast to my situation some have had no injuries as yet. It's not an exact science but I would think nine should be ample,

Kev · 23/04/2015 at 09:37

Forced into two trades this week with Bartel and Wines going down. Was firmly in 'Swan is cooked' camp preseason so I've wiped the egg off my face and brought him in for Jimmy. Currently a tossup between Mundy, Hanners, and Jobe for Wines. Leaning towards Mundy due to the unlikelihood of him drawing a tag but all 3 require further research

    Tim Darbyshire · 23/04/2015 at 10:18

I take Jobe out of them 3

Tim Darbyshire · 23/04/2015 at 10:10

Trades I am thinking is Bartel out in: grey

Out: R.Hendo for B.Smith. This still leaves me with 110,000 in the kitty

    Girdle · 23/04/2015 at 17:32

    Do it

Dee · 23/04/2015 at 10:19

What to do with Kolodashnij?

    Tim Darbyshire · 23/04/2015 at 10:24

do you have a Bartel if so down grade him to a rookie. Then upgrade him to Brodie smith if you got the cash!!

    Stevie · 23/04/2015 at 16:06

I’m using my money saved last week on gaz to turn kk into birchall the best other option is Brodie smith if u can afford him
