Mo’ Supercoach News|Round 1 Wrap-up

Published by Lekdog on

Concrete Booking AgencyLekdogG’day Community! Lekdog here with some mo’ supercoach news…

Today I wrap up round 1, make some suggestions on how to deal with our injuries and our rucklines. It was a rough start to the season community but we’ll get through this together.

As always I’d love to hear from you as to what you would like to see in these videos, if left to me the videos will progressively get angrier as Carlton performs poorly…

Lots of love, @LekBlog.

throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 22:20

Spa bath footy watching? Is this an underground scene in Oz? Haven't heard about this. Need to ask Wombats about this…he seems in the know about these off grid ventures.

Provocative and gold-filled vid, Lek.

Have the same ruck set up as you. Agree they both played 130 games. Waiting this round to see how they go, but leaning towards ditching Mummy R3. If NicNat is a close 3rd to Mummy and is that much less, I'm going to trade down. This will give me the cash to turn KK (who really disappointed) to either B. Smith or Gibbo. That's a long term win for the Throttleman.

Look forward to your next video and more low-level lewd SC allegories.

    @TylerCArmstrong · 07/04/2015 at 22:30

I would get rid of all rucks above 550k apart from Goldstein. He scored 100 in a game where his side got flogged and he was up against a great ruckman in Sam Jacobs, yet he still managed to reach triple digits. I suggest the community hold onto him. Should average 105 at the worst.

      throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 22:36

Goldie is a keeper for sure. Mummy…ugh. Don't want to do it but can make my team/scores stronger in long run.

        The egg · 07/04/2015 at 22:41

Ok good plan, everyone get rid of mummy so im the only one left with him when he rips out an average of 117

          throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 22:44

You're cracked, egg. No ruck will be averaging 117 with these new rules.

          The egg · 07/04/2015 at 22:48

Haha ok, we will see. Mummy is staying in my team….but you should trade him out if you dont believe in his beastish like attributes 🙂

            throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 22:56

Haha! He is a BEAST, my man. And I'm a GWS backer. If he goes ton this week, I'll reconsider for sure.

All in all, the new ruck rules are WAY too severe. Sure give more points for HTA. But give SOME points for HOs. Or give more points when a ruck scores a goal. Just seems tilted against them.

            (rant over)

              SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 23:33

Indeed the significance of the new ruck scoring rules has taken everyone by surprise.

Has really thrown out many coach's structures in 2015. Those who went with budget rucks seem to be the big winners here. A $600K spend on one of your mids seems to be worth about 15-25ppg more than an equivalent spend in a ruck position which is a massive difference over the course of a season (400 odd points!)

We still need to see another weekend of data but that appears to be the new Supercoach landscape we are facing.

                Frank · 07/04/2015 at 23:49

Indeed SCA. I went Grundy/TBC and am ranked 21. Wines M5, Bont F5. So far so good. Grundy BOG nearly. Breakout year for him.

                  SCaddict · 08/04/2015 at 00:21

Yes you're exhibit A for the prosecution Frank. You definitely backed the right horses, at least early, and are off to a flyer.

Trust you don't mind but Addicts Anonymous have added you as rival. All the best for Round 2!

                    Frank · 08/04/2015 at 12:27

Game on Addict ! Look forward to it.

                throttlefinger · 08/04/2015 at 00:00

Completely agree, SCaddict. See what is what after R2 then move. if there is a fair amount of distance between Mummy and the #3 ruck, then I'll keep. If NicNat looks to be in the hunt for #2, I'll swap.

          The egg · 07/04/2015 at 23:02

in conclusion, mummy will average AT LEAST 115 this year. I will come back on here end of year when it happens and will explain to you my little theory of why…but by then you would have embraced his brilliancr also

            throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 23:09

HAHAHAHA! I hope you're right. But I think at the end of the season you'll be avoiding this page.

    @TheNoLanguage · 07/04/2015 at 22:39

What are your thoughts on Ibbotson in the back half Throttle? Was optimistic of him generating a sizeable amount of cash but not too sure after playing more of a lock down role on Sunday.

      throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 22:46

Would see how he goes this week, NoLang. If he does the same, switch out. Ross likes to mix things with his Defs. Why I try to stay away from Freo defs.

        carlashirley90 · 08/04/2015 at 10:15

Lol for Mummy to avg 115 your expecting him to hit 130 11 times out of 22 games?
        Not a chance sorry 🙁
I do believe only 2 rucks will avg 100 or more but can't see an average of more than 105 believe it.

Rucks may very well be as relivent as premium defenders 90-100 avg

          Rawkus11 · 08/04/2015 at 18:54

Totally agree Carla. I;m thinking of dumping Mummy after just one week. Was thinking trading down to skinflute Minson and taking the 130k

        Tom · 08/04/2015 at 13:49

        Hey Throttle,

        Thoughts on Sam Docherty?

          throttlefinger · 08/04/2015 at 20:41

Yo Tom! Not being lazy, but I 100% agree with Dex's take on Docherty. Did you see the article? Read the Dex Files. Nails it.

@TylerCArmstrong · 07/04/2015 at 22:25

Great stuff Lek. Annoyed about Sidearse. Was going to end up a top 8 mid. He is an absolute jet. Oh well, that's just supercoach I guess.

L. Gibbs · 07/04/2015 at 22:26

Was thinking about getting rid of lumba, ibbotson and goodes? Which one? One will be on the bench as Saad will start ths week. Any keepers among them

    @TylerCArmstrong · 07/04/2015 at 22:38

Don't trade Goodes, he was respectable. We would ideally want 70's and 80's from him, but a 68 is definitely not worth a trade.

      carlashirley90 · 08/04/2015 at 10:17

Agree and I only want him to give me 70-75 after 7 rounds to trade down to rookie and use cash to upgrade rookie, paint the fence

If he averages 85 by round 7 though will be the same get him out, he is no keeper

Swordfish · 07/04/2015 at 22:27

Who has a basketball net right above a tv ?

The egg · 07/04/2015 at 22:34

I would rather keep mummy than griffen, and am heavily considering trading griff for sloane…which I can do, thoughts?

    @TheNoLanguage · 07/04/2015 at 22:41

I'm holding on to Griff for at least one more week. As soon as you trade him he's likely to burn you with a 130. Also Sloane won't get it as easy as he did against the Roos, they were rubbish on Sunday.

      The egg · 07/04/2015 at 22:44

My thinking is that im not going to wait for griffen to mess up again. Im sure he will rip out a 140 next week against melbourne, but out seems like he cant cop a tag

      schroeds · 08/04/2015 at 08:11

griff will b fine he dosent like playing the saints his last 5 scores against them have been low with only 1 score above 100, 89,136,75,74,75

    @TylerCArmstrong · 07/04/2015 at 22:52

Never had Griff in the 1st place. I only pick premo mids who I think will end up in top 8, I don't care if he appreciates 60k. Cant see him going higher than 110 so I still can't figure out what all the hype is about. But now that you have selected him, you need to keep him. And an average of 110 is still good, and he has always been a bit inconsistent anyway. Trades are valuable, don't waste one on him.

      Holty · 08/04/2015 at 13:59

Agree Tyler. I've never seen the point to Griff either. He has only had one premium year in his career. I have the same thought as you. I only select players over $500000 who you think will be a premium at seasons end.

    throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 23:00

I'm leaning towards ditching Griff. Watched the game and he simply doesn't have to do as much with that loaded midfield. And doesn't seem to like being the #1 tag target, like at WBD when Boyd was out. Not 100%.

Part I didn't like the most: it was a tight game vs STK and a perfect time to assert himself. And he didn't…against a bottom 4 team. Not a good sign.

      Rocksta · 08/04/2015 at 00:08

      GDay Throttle.
I have to agree with you………….. Watched the GWS game and Griff just looked slow and disinterested. He isn’t even in the same league as Callan Ward, nor Trealor for that matter.
I’m not trading this week and am hoping Griff goes large, but will be moving him on sooner rather than later. The fact is, he’s only really ever had one great season

        throttlefinger · 08/04/2015 at 05:35

Hey Rocksta. I'm going to nip it in the bud now. Griff doesn't have a great ave vs. the Dees. Think Ward will be the one to go off if anyone. That man is a tough nut…those types tend to do well against the Dees.

Plus, I may be forced to move Mummy next week. I mean, he had a MONSTER game then you get that puny SC score. Really a bunch of BS. Puts the rucks at a major disadvantage than other lines. Hope that point system gets changed.

      Gold Rush · 08/04/2015 at 09:09

      I've burnt him for Lewis.

Gary Ablett · 07/04/2015 at 22:41

Cripps to Dan rich?
Cripps down to jaden mcgrath using swing ??

    @TylerCArmstrong · 07/04/2015 at 22:53

Don't trade Cripps, it has only been one game!

      Gary Ablett · 07/04/2015 at 22:56

What are people's thoughts on McGrath, looks very promising and not many people have him in their sides

        FootyFanatic · 08/04/2015 at 07:51

How did your shoulder pull up Gary?

        dannyyboyy · 08/04/2015 at 17:23

im watching him (McGrath), theres no problem using one or two trades for corrections before rd 3, so ill be watching his game this week and he might take lonies spot if he backs it up again

          Frank · 08/04/2015 at 18:33

Lonie looked awesome. I wouldn't trade him out. You don't get the reputation as the best young small forward in the country without being awesome. He trained with our senior squad early last year and his decision making, clean ball handling and fleet of foot had him a lock in my 2015 supercoach side 14 months ago.

        Marco · 08/04/2015 at 23:46

Inside info from a friend in the club says lions love McGrath and he should get plenty of games this season. Weekends performance didn’t hurt his chances.

Harry · 07/04/2015 at 22:49

Would trading kade Kolodjashnij for Brett Goodes be a good idea or not? Thoughts please Lekdog and others!

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 23:43

Can't write off Thumper after just one game. Suns had a shocker let's face it, as uplifting a performance as it was for long suffering Dees fans. GC are a much different team at Metricon too and will be getting some key personnel back in their front half soon.

If he plays a hard tag again this weekend then sure put him on your wooshka block if you must but the kid has fantastic disposal and decision making skills to be wasted as a mere scragger each week. Hopefully Rocket will realise this too.

Goodes was serviceable but wouldn't be falling over to get him in just to make a modest $120K or so.

      throttlefinger · 08/04/2015 at 00:02

Have both. Goodes will pan out but would wait to see what Thumper does. If he sharts out another score, I'd try to go up rather than down. Or if you were to go down, go Vlaustin or Taylor Hunt if they have similar performance they had in R1.

      Tyler · 08/04/2015 at 07:35

The bad thing is I don't think we will be able to judge the suns accurately round 2 because they're playing Saints, a bottom 4 side and they should have a lot of players go big

      crackman · 08/04/2015 at 09:33

As a Bulldog supporter I can’t see Goodes keeping his spot in the firsts when Hrovat and Stevens are match fit

    Craig · 07/04/2015 at 23:55

Kolo will go ok i reckon. Hold him, you probably picked him for a reason. In any case, see everyone twice before you make a correcting trade.

    Mike · 08/04/2015 at 12:44

    Hell no.

Hawker_08 · 07/04/2015 at 22:53

What to do with Griff community. I can go Maric > bellcho and then griff > Lewis with Salem > tex next week. Thoughts?

    Hawker_08 · 07/04/2015 at 22:58

I could also go griff > rich with Salem > Franklin

    r2d2 · 07/04/2015 at 23:28

    Keep him

    jacob · 08/04/2015 at 01:16

I’m thinking if doing the same. Griff burnt me all of last year and I don’t know if a can deal with going through it again. I realy thought he’d be refreshed coming into a new club but I saw very similar signs to last year and unless he whips out a 110+ score this week I’ll be moving him onto Lewis before Lewis’s price rises.

The Ranger · 07/04/2015 at 22:56

Spot on advice Lek.
One question I haven't heard asked on either of the podcasts so far….
What to do with donuts?
I was away from internet access for much of the weekend and sadly, got left with a donut on my bench.
Do I trade? Hold for one week? How long can you hold a donut for?!
I'm leaning towards a one week hold.

    Frank · 07/04/2015 at 23:31

Depends who i guess. I have hugh goddard and lambert on bench with donuts…not concerned if they donut for a month. Expect them both to play eventually. I have enough solid rookies that will hopefully be ready by trade time and can't trade them all at once. It may work out better that they are ready to trade out after bye weeks. I think the average peak rookie trade price is after 8-9 games.

      Frank · 07/04/2015 at 23:38

Can be handy as rookie loophole too. For instance can play mcinosh as emegency, if he scores <60 then oxley gets a crack. If he scores >60 goddard takes the field.

    SCaddict · 08/04/2015 at 00:00

One or two bench donuts are tolerable although you definitely want to get on the anointed must have rookies which after round 1 are Saad, McIntosh, Heeney, Vandenberg, CEY, Clark and Hogan. If you don't have any of these boys they need to be your priority targets THIS week.

Those on the watch list include Cripps, Newton, NVB, Brayshaw, Miller, Lonie, Lamb, Salem, Brown, Oxley, Goodes and a few others. Depending on how they perform this weekend many coaches will be keeping/jumping on the contenders and ignoring/dumping the pretenders.

      The Ranger · 08/04/2015 at 10:33

Hamling is the donut I'm looking at.
I've got Saad, McIntosh and Brown down there already just debating wether to jump off Hamling onto Oxley.
Currently thinking I'll just hold for a few weeks, my other three rookies are playing and I think Hamling will come in at some point.
When he does I'll jump off Brown, pocket whatever cash he's made and go to Goddard who I also think will get games at some point.
      That's todays plan anyway….

        Sarah · 09/04/2015 at 12:11

I'd hold Ranger. Oxley only scored 31, it's not worth a trade yet. See how he goes this week before any trading.

r2d2 · 07/04/2015 at 23:27

Nic nat and luey my rucks … Kind of glad I went in with them ! These ruck changes are ridiculous !!!!!! They getting robbed really

    NateCrows · 08/04/2015 at 14:45

    Goldstein with 180 this week.

Nuggety · 07/04/2015 at 23:34

Good stuff once again Lek amusing stuff. Ruck scoring thing sure looks a bummer.. Dropping 200k vs. 2 trades is a good way to look at it. Fingers crossed no injuries to the set n forget rucks though… Back to the spa bath…

Motsy · 07/04/2015 at 23:37

Worth Bringing McGrath in for lambert?

    Rocksta · 08/04/2015 at 00:21

    Wait and see this week.
Price won’t change until Rd 3 so you have nothing to lose.
If Lambert doesn’t get named again, and McGrath goes 70 plus, then make the trade AFTER rd 2, unless your other Bench players aren’t playing ( which isn’t likely).
All this talk of trading is doing my head in!
I’d only be trading THIS WEEK if I didn’t have 3 of McKintosh, Vandenberg, Heeney, CEY, Saad, Clarke, and Hogan.

      Rocksta · 08/04/2015 at 00:44

Price change ‘After’ Rd 3 that should read.
But you need to make your corrective trades after rd 2 so as not to incur the effect of price rises/drops.
Basically, I’d only be trading this week if I had long term injuries, or was missing 2 of the essential Rookies ( detailed by myself and many others above).
If you have a combination of both, then you MUST trade this week to insure your side is corrected by Rd 4.
Fortunately, I’ve been unaffected by Injury, and am only missing Hogan of the must haves.
Hope the Luck continues…………. Definitely need luck in this caper!

Jayden · 08/04/2015 at 03:49

I am considering trading Ahmed saad to a Lonie type as I just think he will get lost with the ball barely going into the saints forward line so only limited opportunities for him to score points and he is a bit dearer in price where I could get Lonie or lamb in

Have 3 premos and then Salem, Clark, Hogan and McGrath in my fwd line

Community thoughts on this?

    Locked and Loaded · 08/04/2015 at 09:46

Doing the same myself but will wait one more week Saad down to Mcgrath for me if he does well again

Girdle · 08/04/2015 at 05:40

After the Saturday games, you could see what was going on with the rucks. Problem was all the cheaper options had already played. If Brisbane or Essendon had played on the Sunday then there’d be more teams with Leuey and Bellchambers for sure. I’d hold Goldy (if I still had him) but I’d trade down with Sauce, Mummy or Sandy after Rd2. At this early stage, cash generation is very important for fast elite upgrades. If you can afford that corrective trade next week (no injuries elsewhere) then I’d be doing it.

aaron · 08/04/2015 at 06:55

Luke parker and jimmy bartel concussion for 1-2 weeks hold or trade thoughts

    Rocksta · 08/04/2015 at 07:03

    Both Keepers.

      aaron · 08/04/2015 at 07:06

having bartel and parker out for two weeks and putting on rookies to cover them might cost me 100 points

        Motsy · 08/04/2015 at 07:32

I’d take 100 points over 2 trades missing any day. If you trade out any player who misses 1 game then you’ll be out of trades by round 15. You have a bench for a reason. Use it!

          Locked and Loaded · 08/04/2015 at 09:49

Where did you hear Parker is out for 1-2 weeks

      Mike · 08/04/2015 at 12:45

    Jacob · 08/04/2015 at 13:09

Parker will play this week. Bartell will probably miss one.

aaron · 08/04/2015 at 06:58

Who is the best upgrade for kk

    Motsy · 08/04/2015 at 07:34

Hold for now. You may even be able to “downgrade” to someone like hunt.

Northerner · 08/04/2015 at 07:49

Guys. Lots of talk going around about break even scores. Be very careful in using them this week as the system works on a 3 round calc and assumes they score the same in week 2 as they did in week 1. The way to think about them this week is if your player scores the same again in Rd 2 then the BE price that is showing will be that amount going into Rd 3. Hence i suggest 51 was an aberration for Dusty and his BE will not be 197 in Rd 3 as it currently shows. Likewise wouldn’t expect McIntosh to have such a large negative BE as currently showing.

Trab Pukcip · 08/04/2015 at 08:06

Hi guys. After some help. Started with Michael Johnson as my d2, didn’t like what I saw from him on the weekend. Looked slow and not up to it pace wise. Am I jumping the gun by trading him or did he just have an off game?

    Kev · 08/04/2015 at 08:44

Similar to Ibbo, the port v freo clash was play at such a high intensity with both teams having a high forward press. Couple that with a bit of round 1 rustiness and I reckon MJ will be better for the run.

That said, if you're still not impressed with him after round two look at offloading him if there is a standout

    Harry · 08/04/2015 at 15:13

never was going to be a good pick so trade him earlier rather than later

Dj · 08/04/2015 at 08:24

Does anyone really think round 1 will set the scoring trend for the year. So many underachievers that will improve over the coming weeks.

    Kev · 08/04/2015 at 08:41

Not at all, Dj. These low scoring weeks happen during the season and we all accept that it was a bad week. It happened round 1 and panic trades and doomsday predictions ensue.

FootyFanatic · 08/04/2015 at 09:01

Last year I scored 2070 in round 1 and ranked just over 60,000, this year I scored 2041 and currently ranked at 29,542. This shows how much of a low scoring round this was!

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 11:29

True. Any score over 1900 still leaves you in the hunt. Most premos didn't score the way we are used to. Affected everyone.

Kevin · 08/04/2015 at 09:03

Hey guys, should I hold Ablett or trade him for someone like a Jordan Lewis or Michael Barlow ?

    Rocksta · 08/04/2015 at 09:14

Hold for at least this week.

I’ve got him and won’t be trading him for the whole year, unless he gets injured and/or his shoulder doesn’t hold up!
He didn’t have the best of games and was clearly protecting his shoulder but still scored 119.
    Doesn’t that speak for itself?
I can see people trading him out in the next two weeks, only to have to bring him back in a few weeks.

Ruck BS · 08/04/2015 at 09:42

Seems to me that Champion Data have duped us by using the scoring system from last season during the NAB Cup. How the f__k else can we explain the dramatic turn around in ruck scores from NAB to Round 1?

    Locked and Loaded · 08/04/2015 at 09:55

Rucks were not effective as they could be wait and see the monsters go BANG

Jack · 08/04/2015 at 09:50

What are your thoughts on Jeremy Mcgovern

MangroveJack · 08/04/2015 at 09:59

Mummy & Goldy – Hold. Griff & Ablett – Hold for now. Lets see how our Premo's perform this week before culling anyone, but Griff to Wines is on the cards, and maybe GAJ to Lewis or Sloane.

From having McIntosh, Vandenberg, and Hogan on the bench, it cost me 140 points and a 2100+ R1, so need to take a bit more care this week.

Possibly only trade maybe Jaksch (2wks) to ?? . Maybe THunt?? Oxley is my D8.

Mister_Spock · 08/04/2015 at 10:27

Is Rich a must-have?

Leuenberger also scored well, despite sharing the ruck with Martin – thinking of bringing him in as R2 as he'll generate some cash

    Frank · 08/04/2015 at 11:22

Rich is more of a "good to have" than a "must have". Good pick in an initial squad but probably not someone to burn a trade to. If Kangaroos have taught us anything over the years it is don't trust their form. Won't be surprised if they knock Brisbane off by 15+ goals and keep Rich to a sub 80 output. Round 3 he has Tigers and will probably have Morris breathing down his neck all day. He's not going to be scoring 60 points in the last quarter every week.

      Mister_Spock · 08/04/2015 at 12:52

Agreed to a certain extent – kick-in duties are bumping up his score a bit, and he certainly seems to have carried his NAB form into the season. I had him in my squad originally (which makes it worse), then panicked and brought in Scooter Selwood based on one good NAB game (ridiculous I know), but it was obvious on the weeked that he'll continue his tagging role, and possibly only average 95 and not be the M8 keeper I'd been gambling on. Early days obviously, and it's possible with Rockliff out that Rich cops more attention.

Must. Fight. The. Urge. To. Trade.

        Northerner · 08/04/2015 at 22:11

And he went to the Bont which only reinforces his 126 as Scooter is an experienced tag from way back.

    Spifflicator · 08/04/2015 at 17:55

With Rocky gone and his excellent performance in round 1, I would be very surprised if he doesn't attract a tag in the next week or two. If you have him then great, but I would not trade him in this week.

rosco_peco · 08/04/2015 at 10:57

Hi folks, great vid Lek, very valid points!

Community thoughts needed, who to bring in for Rockliff, Lewis or JPK? I'm going to sit on Ablett, I liked his one armed 119 and should only improve and the Suns mids offer him some more protection.

Also if Lambert isn't called up this week, is it worth trading him to Hogan?

    Mister_Spock · 08/04/2015 at 12:56

I reckon wait one more week to see how Hogan scores. He looks like he'll play a lot of footy for the Demons and less of a risk to be a candidate for the sub vest, whereas Lambert could find it hard to break into the Richmond team, and even when he does be listed as the sub.

NJEMERZ · 08/04/2015 at 12:18

I have Jacobs, should i get rid of him for a cheaper ruck? Have a certain someone who played very well for 400k , just not sure if he will get games every week. And in combination with adding vanderberg it will leave me with 280k on the side :0 is this to much to leave not racking in interest?

    Dan · 08/04/2015 at 22:40

Jacobs was the only ruck to play every game last year and also the only ruck whose last year score stayed the same with the new scoring. I'll be giving him AT LEAST one more week, then still have plenty of time to jump off if he doesn't improve…

NJEMERZ · 08/04/2015 at 12:31

How does the price system work in super coach? I know that they need to play three games before a price is produced, but is there a maximum they increase in price each week? Like example Mcintosh defender richmond = $124000, got 120 and say he gets 120 round 2 and 120 r3 (unrealistic). Does this mean 120 points avg is / 18.6 = 6.451, then times that by 100k =$ 645,161.29 surely he can't go up $521,161 in a week ?

    chops · 08/04/2015 at 12:56

This equation is close but not 100% accurate.
Players previous 3 rounds x 5140 and divide by 3 minus his previous price and divide the answer by 4.

    Example: Anyone

    178 + 99 + 120 (132.33) X 5140 (680,193) – 740,500

    Answer: -15077 or – 15100 (nearest)

      chops · 08/04/2015 at 13:00

In the case of McIntosh who scores 120 in each of his 3 rounds, then his increase will be approx. $123200.

    Mister_Spock · 08/04/2015 at 13:02

    New Price = 0.75 x Original Price + 0.25 x ($5,375 x Average of the last 3 games)

If McIntosh gets 120 again for the next two rounds, his new price will be:

    (0.75 x $123,900) + 0.25 x ($5,375 x 120) = $254,175 (increase of $130,275)

basil · 08/04/2015 at 12:45

touk miller to vandenberg this round or wait

    dennis · 08/04/2015 at 13:11

ive done the same trade. vandenberg showed that he is clearly a must have

I know that i will do it next week regardless , so i might as well do it now in case i need to make a couple of trades next week if my speculative midpricers dont fire again.

    Jacob · 08/04/2015 at 13:13

I reckon if your planning to make a couple more trades next week before price changes do it! Vandenberg is an absolute must while Millers scoring capacity looked pretty average on the weekend playing up foward most of the match. Cant go wrong making that trade this week.

tom · 08/04/2015 at 12:51

I went really expensive in my rucks with Mumford and Goldstein which obviously wasn't the right thing to do but now I am not sure whether to stick fat or trade mummy down to Bellchambers/Leuenberger, pocket the cash and then later trade up to the best ruck with the new scoring system.

    Trab Pukcip · 08/04/2015 at 13:31

That was all covered in the pod cast in detail!!

    judd0 · 08/04/2015 at 19:27

I think you should watch the video.

bailey · 08/04/2015 at 13:09

Kane lambert likely to play at all??? Should I trade him to McGrath

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 13:25

Have another look at McGrath this week. If he goes well consider that a round 3 corrective. Having said that I expect to see Lambert reasonably soon.

    Ben Bretel · 08/04/2015 at 16:05

lambert is just around the corner

Jacob · 08/04/2015 at 13:15

Anyone else have Maric?? Thinking of trading him down to TBC or Luey if he doesnt score well again this week. He looked really good on Thursday but the fact he only scored 82 from that performance worries me. Think it might be worth pocketing that cash and using it elsewhere.

    Trab Pukcip · 08/04/2015 at 13:31

I do and have thought the exact same thing but am resisting the temptation! Have to ask yourself is that freeing up of $$ and upgrading elsewhere worth 2 trades this early in the season?? Im thinking just bite the bullet and leave him there, yeh he will drop a little bit in price but barring injury he can just be left there for as long as possible! I've never rated TBC and Luey is a big injury risk! Could find you end up costing 3 or more trades on the one position when you could've just left Ivan there the whole time!

      Sarah · 09/04/2015 at 12:48

I have him too and am just going to leave him. After all, Goldy and Maric are the rucks I want all year, so why waste a trade to free up a little bit of cash for a ruck I ultimately don't want.

Jacob · 08/04/2015 at 13:16

Also if Lamb is named sub again this week should i sideways to McGrath??

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 13:23

I don't thin he will be sub this week. Brown going down means McGovern needs to go back & Lamb to play Fwd.

      NateCrows · 08/04/2015 at 14:48

He got 56 points thats pretty good for a rookie. Not worth a sideways unless they are getting 80+

Frank · 08/04/2015 at 13:36

It may be a good time to revisit some tales from the Supercoach History book.

Round 6, 2006 – Dean Polo makes his AFL debut for Richmond. Dominated. 148 SC points. The similarities between his and Kamdyn McIntosh’s playing style are chilling. I think he may have even had a rude moustache also. Like many I jumped on board after the 1 game. The following 3 weeks he had scores of 41, 38 and 46. The Dean Polo rule was born.

Round 1, 2007 – Joel Selwood makes his AFL debut for Geelong. Struggled. 14 SC points. The following 3 weeks he scored 53, 50 and a donut after being dropped. Trade or hold? We’d heard about this kid being a star. Like many I held. From round 5 onwards he pumped out an average of 85 and was an obvious winner of the Rising Star award – a year where the nominations included names like Ryder, Pendlebury, Hawkins, Gibbs, Gray and Boak. The Legend of Joel Selwood was born.

The moral of these stories? I’m not sure. Make of them what you will. Just be aware that some players take a little time getting their feet wet in the big league, while others can play their best game as their first.

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 13:59

Interesting Frank. Reminds me of one of Homers best quotes. Homer to Kent Brockman. "People can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent. 40% of people know that". Geez I hope KMac doesn't turn into a Polo. I do remember his first game. Looked like a future Brownlow monty. Turned out to be a spud. Isaac Heeney reminds me of Selwood.

      Frank · 08/04/2015 at 14:26

"It impressed me and I'm not easily impressed…Wow! A blue car!"

        I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 16:25

        Love it

    Spifflicator · 08/04/2015 at 17:56

    Great stats!

    liam · 08/04/2015 at 20:33

Frank i think this is perfect for everyone; just hold off on trading and see what gem might unfold

I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 13:41

Itchy has a itchy trigger finger on the trade button. By the sounds of things everyone does. Lots of people looking at culling 2 premos this round. It's madness. It's one week. Everyone was affected by crap scores. It's important to remember that round 1 prices do not stay in the 3 week cycle. They disappear after one price change. If people are pulling the trigger thinking there premo prices will plummet based on round one need to think again.

Tom · 08/04/2015 at 13:41

With Sam Docherty's dominance across half back and Michael Hibberds disgusting performance would HIBBERD to DOCHERTY be a viable trade?

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 14:01

Absolutely no way. Back your premos. Docherty is not a proven performer. A classic case of chasing last weeks score.

    FootyFanatic · 08/04/2015 at 14:55

Hibberd will come good, he like most Essendon players had limited match fitness prior to round 1 which is why he didn't get a touch in the last quarter because he ran out of legs. When walker returns from injury, Docherty's output will decrease as he is playing in Walkers role as the main rebounding defender.

    Spifflicator · 08/04/2015 at 17:58

That is a bad idea. Hi beard has a track record Docherty doesnt

eatemalive · 08/04/2015 at 14:10

Lekdog my man, you were quiet bullish about Bob Murphy this year, Do you still believe he will generate around the 90 – 100's ?

NateCrows · 08/04/2015 at 14:56

I didn't trust my gut and picked a player who under-performs. The player i should have gone with scored very well.

Sideways trading to the other player, although being against general rule, may be viable if the other player goes on to outscore the other for the season. Although a risk of 1-2 trades could be there.

Many premos won't have years as we predict. Although best to wait 2 rounds before the trade button is hit.

Yep i'm struggling internally to keep 1 of my players. I am also very worried about Gaz and my captain choices aren't a lock anymore. Significant.

Cyril is Delicious · 08/04/2015 at 15:16

Community I’m considering trading my R2 in Lycett and trading him down to TBC, this will give give $155k, with my left overs from the preseason, to upgrade, maybe a Griffen and somebody else if another bad performance or two. Would love thoughts on this trade? Cheers

    jacob · 08/04/2015 at 17:19

Sounds like a decent corrective. Give it one more week and then pull the trigger if griffen and lycett are average again.

Rick · 08/04/2015 at 15:24

Hi guys im thinking of downgrading my R2 in maric down to TBC. With the leftover 135k I wouldnt make any other trades. Then in round 2 I would look who in my team underperformed for 2 weeks in a row and upgrade them with the cash. Thoughts?

    Rick · 08/04/2015 at 15:33

    *235 k

seamus · 08/04/2015 at 15:28

Depending on week 2 performance I'm looking at a trade with nic Nat down to tcb and cripps up to Daniel rich

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 15:44

That's 4 trades buddy. Don't see TBC or Rich as keepers. Not something I would entertain.

    nick · 08/04/2015 at 15:56

don't understand why u would start ith nic nat or anyone have him really he has probably had one or 2 good games in 3 years last year nothing I didn't waste my cash on him I have mummy and maric

    liam · 08/04/2015 at 20:42

seamus nic nat did well and compared to other rucks i would hold. as pieman says, rich not a holder but depends if you can afford a premium

nick · 08/04/2015 at 15:37

so anyway I lost Sidebottom and rocky on the weekend I was thinking who should I bring in and I bough brad ebert in as he gets around 150 to 160 against the swans and bought in lewis for rocky I have 231k in the bank so what do u guys think of those trades

    I N Pieman · 08/04/2015 at 15:47

Lewis looks like a solid pick. Don't see Ebert being remotely close to a top 10 mid. Sidebum the way he was travelling probably would have been. I'd go a JPK/Fyfe/Pendles type assuming you don't have them.

      nick · 08/04/2015 at 18:15

thanks I have fyfe pendles I think might bounce back after last week

    Ben Bretel · 08/04/2015 at 16:08

sloane easy draw u don't have him

      nick · 09/04/2015 at 01:13

no I don't might put him in as he hardly ever gets tagged and Collingwood he might get a massive score this week

      nick · 09/04/2015 at 01:25

don't get me wrong slone is a gun but his scores are shit against the pies and I think I stick with ebert and lewis and be laughing to the bank ebert has a lot of money to be made and I think he might be the one to look out for for massive scores just taking a punt might work out for me he dose averge 40 plus or 35 plus against Sydney

      Northerner · 09/04/2015 at 05:14

Agree. Think Walsh will show the world he is the best tactician of any coach. Remember WCE last to prelim in a year – that was Walsh, not Woosha. Think Adelaide will be this year’s big improvers and all Adelaide players will benefit. Sloane also has such a high floor, he just does not spud up.

Dave2008 · 08/04/2015 at 16:07

Who really are the must have rookies?

I have McIntosh Saad Heeney CEY Vandenburg Oxley Cockatoo Miller Cripps Lamb Lonie Salem as my rookies . Maybe NVB Mcgrath in for Cockatoo and Oxley if I have the money?

    liam · 08/04/2015 at 20:37

this was covered above dave have a read through the comments

    TTJ · 08/04/2015 at 20:46

Angus Brayshaw looks like a he will be a future SC scoring machine. Pity he was subbed off, as a ton on debut seemed a formality. If he can get a decent run he will probably outscore all the rookies.

NVB is a proven performer who is rookie priced & you know what you will get with him. Will make money fore sure.

Mcgrath was solid & there is a lot to like about him, but I wouldn't be expecting 70 from him every week.

If you want a forward rookie it has to be Hogan without a doubt.

      Dave2008 · 08/04/2015 at 23:39

Yep must have missed that Liam. Actually have Hogan maybe NVB after this round and Brayshaw

    Dean · 08/04/2015 at 23:09

Wait until the completion of round 2 before thinking about this.

Ben Bretel · 08/04/2015 at 16:11

scored 2137 and many plays did awful EG martian, newnes, cripps, goodes salem
hurt having vanderberg, henney on the bench
also had lewis pinned as captain then changed last min to fyfe

    TTJ · 08/04/2015 at 20:13

    Dusty Martian

I think he was on a different planet last week.

tom · 08/04/2015 at 16:12

should Hamling play?

Didnt have internet access over the weekend so I didnt get to trade him out for someone like Oxley.

Is it worth me trading him to someone like Oxley (i'd wait til next week to do this) or am I fine holding onto Hamling?

    jacob · 08/04/2015 at 17:26

Seriously considering Jarryn Geary now that I’ve seen him perform in the real stuff. Looked very good on the weekend, working extremely hard as a new leader of the saints and got plenty of pill with the ball being in the saints defence for most of the march. I reckon he could average 90+ and be a potential keeper. His yearly average has steadily increased over the last few years besides an injury effected season last year. He looks like the general down back for the saints. Am considering going Maric to Tbc next week and Oxley to Geary. Don’t think oxleys JS is all that good with Seedsman on the comeback and his scoring potential didn’t loom all that flash on the weekend. Thoughts?

      TTJ · 08/04/2015 at 20:03

Wouldn't trade in Oxley in a hurry. Scored 23 SC points in the first 1/4 & finished with a total of 31 after being subbed out in the 3rd. His JS & scoring potential is definitely iffy.

Not sure if Hamling will get much of a run soon either as Roughead, Talia & Morris are ahead of him at the Bulldogs.

I agree with Jacob. I would try & find the dollars somewhere to upgrade him.

Hold on trading him until next week & reassess.

Josh · 08/04/2015 at 17:06

Hey guys, was fortunate enough to have "planned" for the worst case scenario of under -peforming rucks by having TBC sitting pretty in my forward line.

Had Mummy and Nic Nat as rucks, is it worth swapping Mummy for Grey? 100% chance of ruck value falling, while grey has a great look about him this year. Already have Bartel, (hope he wont sit for that head knock) and martin, swan.

Have the option of course to go down to the Bont, and perhaps upgrade Griffen next week if he underpeforms.

Would love some thoughts, traded myself out of trades last year to just miss top 1000. Tough call, but with that change in the rucks, seems this trade is necessary to keep the points high enough, have all the rookies bar hogan (with lambert). Not much else of value that i can do at the moment.

    Harry · 08/04/2015 at 17:12

Definitely go Mumford to Gray. Could be looking at a 15-20 point difference between the two players. Gray would average at least 110, more likely around 115, Mumford maybe around 90-95

Corey · 08/04/2015 at 17:24

should i trade maric to bellchambers?
also idk if i should get rid of lumbumba simpson goodes or heath shaw? thoughts communtiy alos should i give griffen 1 more week? i used 1 trade for selwood to lewis? thoughts appreciated.

    Luviboy1 · 08/04/2015 at 18:16

There is no need to be burning trades this early on anyone other than injuries.

    Blueprime · 08/04/2015 at 18:40

Why would you get rid of a best 10 mid like Selwood?

    Dean · 08/04/2015 at 23:01

Corey If your smart, you would click on the tab "REVERSE CHANGES" before round 2 starts.
Trading out Selwood after 1 game is silly, if you had Rockliff or Sideottom then I can understand.

STICK with your original premiums such as Selwood. Don't waste any trades.

KEEP: Selwood, Maric, Lumumba, Simpson, Goodes, Shaw & Griffen. Your chasing scores mate, I understand coz I used to do the same thing when I started.

Who's to say this weekend that Selwood comes out and scores a 140+ and Lewis scores 80 it's happened to me tons of times, including last year when I traded out Franklin after round 6 and after that, he scored HUGE every game.

Honestly mate your panicking for nothing, hit the "REVERSE CHANGES" tab so you get Selwood back. In fact Geelong are renowned for coming back hard after a big loss especially at Skilled Stadium.

    Good Luck mate.

Phillip mate · 08/04/2015 at 18:29

Bartel looks set to miss his round 2 class with freo. Is it worth while just hanging onto him and not wasting a trade?

Thoughts fellas?

    Sarah · 08/04/2015 at 18:36

Agree he will breakout this year and be within the mix or close to premo defenders at end of year. I also like McGovern and at that game too. Will be a star. Just concerned not enough cattle around him to help him out this year.

    Frank · 09/04/2015 at 12:21

Up to you. I go for Pies so I like Grundy, but Blicavs looked great Monday; he has bulked up and is a running machine. Those 4 were basically the 4 I narrowed down to when picking my initial team and I went TBC/Grundy, TBC was too cheap to pass up and as I said I like Grundy. Might swap my rookie ruck for Blicavs next week if he shows same promise for year long cover.
