In like Flynn

Hamish · 06/04/2015 at 22:03

Pick 1: Pendles, Selwood, Sloane, Shiel, Wines, Treloar, Lewis, Ellis

    Hamish · 06/04/2015 at 22:05

    Need to trade Sidebottom

      Kev · 06/04/2015 at 22:10

All fantastic options, Hamish. Throw a blanket over Sloane/Pendles/Selwood/Lewis

        scrofl · 06/04/2015 at 22:46

        "Pick 1"
        Picks 4 haha

        randomcliche · 07/04/2015 at 11:32

Dependlebury clear 1 on history but putting on my forward thinking goggles I see successful hawk line up with a fit Mitchell Hodge Langford led by Mr Lewis. I don’t watch enough adelaide to evaluate Sloan. Selwood has dipped enough in the past to make him upgrade target Imo.

    Marty · 07/04/2015 at 16:36

    Sloane

    judd0 · 07/04/2015 at 20:45

I think if your looking for ultra premium reliability you have to get Pendlebury, you will most likely end up getting him anyway at some stage throughout the season.
So you might as well get him now whilst you wait and see which other midfielders rear there supercoach head.

      Dean · 07/04/2015 at 22:42

I couldn't agree more Re: Pendlebury, especially now that sidebutt is out for quite some time.

    cow roll · 07/04/2015 at 21:12

    Sloane.

T-mitch · 06/04/2015 at 22:04

Only scored 2080 but will stay strong and keep calm, no need to make a correction trade at this stage, very confident there is a lot of room for improvement in my side

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:27

I think you’ll find 2080 is way above average for R1.

      T-mitch · 06/04/2015 at 22:55

Top 9% so not amazing but better than 91% I spose. Too many people wanting to trade, does anyone remember the SuperCoach grand final last year, cost so many people who ran out of trades and really hurt my overall rank. Have learned my lesson

        dognino · 06/04/2015 at 23:08

2090 and top 7% for me. Not happy with some of my scores, but on the upside I have picked 29 scoring players in R1. A position I've never been in, and for the first time I shouldn't have to make any corrective trades early. Hopefully bartel and Parker get back on the track for me next week, but I have cover if they are only out for 1 .

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 09:31

In the same boat with 2071. Didn't all go according to plan!

jimmydowland · 06/04/2015 at 22:07

god i love your wise words jock in times of hardship

    jockreynolds · 06/04/2015 at 22:09

Now is the time for calm my friend. Who was it that once said.. "Be calm.. for the kingdom of the heavens shall be yours if you shall be calm in the midst of the raging oceans of the opening rounds of the season"? Wise words.

      NateCrows · 07/04/2015 at 17:58

I reckon you will trade arse off Jock. Baaang Baaang. Dusty out Walker in Griffen out Wines in

Frank · 06/04/2015 at 22:10

Clubhouse leader in Jocks Supercoach League. Can taste the champagne in the hummer already!

    Jambo · 06/04/2015 at 22:49

Don't get too far ahead of yourself there, Frank.

      Frank · 07/04/2015 at 00:25

Good point, I might not even drink alcohol next year…lets rephrase that to "I can already taste the strippers"

Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:13

The boy Dusty Martin better not be on the way for yet another season of Supercoach disappointment. I’m starting to think that his price has been his price for years because that’s all he’s gonna deliver. He is a ball tickler.

    @HJ_Mitch · 06/04/2015 at 22:38

I don't think he's a ball tickler, Clunker. I think he's an out and out, tattooed ball teaser!!

      Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:42

I fear you maybe right. My balls do feel tickled.

    Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:14

Will be waiting another week but if he offers another performance like that correcting to Tex

      Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 23:20

Sounds good. It’s Dusty v Texas this week.

        Jayden · 07/04/2015 at 02:13

Dusty V Tex V Swan for me

          PDAP · 07/04/2015 at 14:21

You are crazy to be even thinking like you are, otherwise you will be trading two players every week and you will have zilch trades for the SC finals. They are both keepers. Are Jacob holders trading him out? No.

    judd0 · 07/04/2015 at 20:47

He averages the least amount of supercoach points against carlton out of any other team.
I still think he will be a top 6 FWD this year. I bloody hope so anyway because I have him, but will be sticking with him for a while.

Tulip · 06/04/2015 at 22:14

Thank you Jock,
After a weekend of underperforming premiums, injuries and reports. We need your guidance! On the download now.

Tom.McV · 06/04/2015 at 22:14

Hey community
Do I trade out B.Goodes for S.Savage? I think I've nearly seen enough for Savage, or do you think I hold off till next week?

    Kev · 06/04/2015 at 22:21

Ask yourself why are you trading out Goodes, Tom? Is there are a reason or is it simply chasing last weeks points?

      Tom.McV · 06/04/2015 at 22:30

Yeah thanks Kev I was chasing last weeks points, stressing out about the backline

        lm11 · 06/04/2015 at 23:21

        pretty stupid decision imo

    Mister_Spock · 06/04/2015 at 23:39

Savage is $100K more than Goodes – better options available for less (e.g. Geary), but I would wait another week

    Jacob · 07/04/2015 at 00:19

Goodes is priced at $245k, he scored 70 and everybody's panicking. I don't get why he scored 25 more than he's priced to average and i'm sure he'll perform better in the weeks to come.

      Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 09:32

Spot on. 70 for a 245k is no disaster.
Martin was more concerning.. and Priddis. Ouch.

    Dean · 07/04/2015 at 23:30

Tom are you new to this mate?
Why would you consider trading out Goodes after he scored 68, are you aware that his price average is only 45 so hypothetically speaking even if he scores only 35 points in his next two games he still won't go down in price, but if he scores around 70 in his next 2 rounds he will increase in price.

The last thing you want to do is chase last weeks scores because more often then not, when you go ahead and make these trades, you'll find Goodes will go out and scores 90+ and someone like Savage scores 50 this happens all the time.

Out of curiosity why Savage as opposed to Geary? I have Goodes & Geary and I expected Goodes to score between 50 to 60 so I was quite happy with his 68 considering he has not played much. In saying this providing Goodes remains injury free, I believe he will average 75 by the time the bye rounds start, which means his price will increase to about $400k then I will look to upgrade him.

    Good luck

Jimmy Joe · 06/04/2015 at 22:15

Jock. Your words are like a lullaby to my ears after such a testing round. At last I feel I can sleep soundly without hitting ‘trade’. I thank you. However, I’m feeling guilty about my brutal jealousy to those supercoachers who picked Taylor Walker. Any advice?

Kev · 06/04/2015 at 22:16

2174, and a 2657 weekly ranking. Great start. Jelwood, H. Taylor, and Newnes were my premium downers. As a high priced rookies Cripps and Salem will need to go bang next week to justify there pricetags. Don't want to be stuck with them if they turn out to be a slow burners

    Hazey · 06/04/2015 at 22:23

There must be a heap of ppl from 2100-2200. I got 2111 and am just outside the 10,000.

      Seb · 06/04/2015 at 22:27

      I scored 2,101 and I'm ranked 12,000

        Frank · 06/04/2015 at 22:38

2342 got me to 21. Bit upset i'm not on page 1

          Jayden · 07/04/2015 at 02:15

          2144 got me 5,178

    Dean · 07/04/2015 at 23:57

    2163 got me to 3440

I just done a check on the rankings and calculated the figures from those who are ranked from 2150 to 2200 and there are 3420 people within that 50 point margin bracket.

Those who scored 2150 have a overall ranking of 4573 compared to those who scored 2200 have a overall ranking of 1406 so there are hundreds on the same scores obviously. It just goes to show you how serious every point counts, its incredible.

    Good luck guys

Patch · 06/04/2015 at 22:18

love it gents. have to agree with you, Jock, Wines is an absolute beast and will average 115 this year (#plumsontheline), and I'm not a fan of Dangerfield. Managed to scape the 2000 but what carnage it was getting there.

Tyler · 06/04/2015 at 22:18

Just gone wild , scored plenty of crap scores eg. Selwwod 69 , cripps 50 , h Taylor 58 oxley, griffin, newnes , salem , gave me a horrible total of 1954 . Tex in for Salem and griffin down to rich.

    jimmydowland · 06/04/2015 at 22:27

mate you selected those blokes for a reason, to trade them out on one bad score to a guy who had one good score…. next week salem could just as easy score 100 and rich score 40…

    think about it

      PDAP · 07/04/2015 at 14:29

I agree. One of the rules of supercoach is NOT to select a FF or a CHF (except for Buddy who roams anyway) Tex had a super day out and I doubt he will every repeat that monstrous SC score yet many have jumped on 'the Texan bandwagon' – beware. Same with Dusty. He is a mid fwd and chances are he will do well again.

    TOPHAWK1 · 07/04/2015 at 20:47

It is only the first game of the season mate. All coaches are in the same boat as you are. Some coaches may be off to a better start than you, but only 4% of the season has been completed. Best thing to do is chill and think long and hard about the players in your team, and only trade them out at this stage if they have a long term injury (Rockliff or Sidebottom for example).

Otherwise, just relax and watch your players next week and if Griffen, taylor etc f?%k up again then get rid of them before the price changes.

Its a 26 week game of chess with only 30 trades. Remember that.

    cow roll · 07/04/2015 at 21:09

Your players are fine. I worry a bit about Griff as he doesn't do well when he's tagged. But I would not pick Rich.

Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:19

Is it possible that 2100 is now a par score for Supercoach in 2015?

    Canny the Manny · 07/04/2015 at 01:19

2100 has always been a safe score.

skate or die · 06/04/2015 at 22:20

thumper, crips and sheed.. hit the trade button or hold?

    matty D · 06/04/2015 at 22:27

Hold, KK see how he goes, don't throttle finger him, Cripps well obvisously wasent going to average 100 like he did nab cup, should improve on last weeks performance, and sheed, give him some time, atkleast 1 more week then assess the price rise of other rookies and make the decision of what to do

      Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 16:50

      Hold Hold and Hold.

carlashirley90 · 06/04/2015 at 22:33

Bloody hell back your premiums and let the cows fatten lol, already see lots of crazy trade questions, this any different to any coaching year?
Trade out an injured player example Rocky, yes trade

I scored 2068 with picking Rockliff over Ablett and im not worried, one corrective trade and sticking to my structures

    Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 09:23

Great advice! I'm doing the same. No trades for me this week. Backing in my premiums and rookie research.
Having said that, if Salem pulls out another 50 score and Walker looks even half the beast he did against North this week, them I'll be making that trade using my 'Gaz' money. I was at the Gaz game and he did not look like the Gaz of old at all. Hope he improves but at this stage that arm looks like it's being held on by the tape!!

      randomcliche · 07/04/2015 at 11:42

Thanks Sarah. Love the vindication of sticking to mad mick’s rule -full preseason. Note to self. Don’t buy nic nac.

    TOPHAWK1 · 07/04/2015 at 20:59

Exactly what I did. Only one corrective trade. Rockliff traded out for another big performing premo from this round. (My new primo pick is a secret! LOL)

Just like you, I am not worried at all. My first round score of 2084 is a solid start. I might not be on top now, but its about being on top at the finish line. Gotta be patient and ready to pounce with your trades when they present during the season.

      TOPHAWK1 · 08/04/2015 at 20:10

Having second thoughts trading Rocky after reading latest news on him today. He reckons he will be back in 2 weeks for the Eagles game in round 4! If this is the case, then he would miss 2 rounds and I would take the punt to bench him. To save a valuable 1-2 trades (out now and then likely back in later in the season) as he is a keeper IMO. The dilemma is this: What if his declaration today was just Dutch courage and him being over optimistic? Or is he fair dinkum? At this stage I am tempted to bench him this weekend and see how his injury progresses/improves in the coming week. Next week should give full clarity of his situation.

The thing with ribs is that he could wear a protective brace to protect the injury when playing. Despite being in pain, he may have the mental fortitude to pull it off and be back for round 4.

I am torn between him being a "forced" ,"corrective" trade, or non trade! Right now I am tempted to stick with him this week and see where he is at next week before making the final call on him.

      Any thoughts?

SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 22:34

I'm with you Jock, Gaz is looking very trade-able right now if you are serious about rank. Sure by all means hold him if you want to conserve your trades with a focus on league final wins only.

But it looks like he is just one good tackle away from missing a month of footy or more and has to be a decent chance of a red vest this weekend, assuming he even plays. It's hard to see him pumping out those 150s and 160s any time soon.

So you might want to move him out this week as you'll really need those 2 trades next week to jump on the best rookies and potentially get rid of the Cripps, Sheeds, Salems etc if they again spud things up and there are cheaper better alternatives out there.

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:41

The little bloke only touched it 19 times and scored 119. What happens when he gets it 25 or 30?

      SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:10

He looked just inches away from getting that red vest at various times on the weekend.

A healthy Gaz, or even 80% fit, then sure no worries but he doesn't look at all right to me. I guess we'll see how he trains during the week and then each Gaz holder will have to make their own call there. But as much as I'd like to hold him I'm about 50/50 atm tbh.

        throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 00:29

Gotta hold him for another game. Regardless, his value will be hitting the elevator shaft R3. And probably even more so R4 after the Cats have at him.

      Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:05

I actually ran the numbers on him over the past three seasons. Including this game he has played 57 games during that time, and has gone under 30 possessions 22 times, with 4 of those 20 or less. His SC scores averages are 150 for over 30, 108 for under 30 and 80 for 20 and under. 119 is highest ever score from 20 or less possessions by a massive 52pts, so if he plays similarly next week he will likely score 60 odd.

So the do we or don't we trade him comes down to this, will he get over 30 possessions anytime soon? If yes keep, if no trade him.

        Holty · 07/04/2015 at 18:43

Love the research Spifflicator. I have Ablett and was very happy that he somehow scored 119. However, I am not one for sideways trades and will not get rid of him. That does not mean I'm not concerned though. He did not manage to grab anything above his shoulders because he simply could not physically do it. The most concerning was when he received that handball in the goal square in the last quarter (when the game was on the line) for a open goal and could not lift his arms to grab it. That being said, he is GOD in Supercoach, I'll hold but if he puts another couple of lame performances together, I'll regret not grabbing Lewis.

    Michael · 06/04/2015 at 22:47

Big call boys, I'll be holding him unless he's injured for 2+ weeks, and I'll be still putting the C on him. Hoping everyone takes your advice though, not often God Jnr becomes a POD!!

      Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:53

      Agreed Michael.

    Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:19

I watched the game closely and watched Gaz closely the entire game (just like every other man and his dog) and I reckon the whole thing has been taken out of proportion. The commentary team didn't shut up about his shoulder and exaggerated the whole situation in my opinion. He got knocked around heavily and a few of those tackles had me concerned. However by the end of the game I was confident he was still a good selection. He was in and under. He looked fit. He didn't look hampered. If he didn't think he was right he would have asked for the vest himself. Hold.

      SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:48

Really? I had my heart in my mouth the entire 120 minutes. He was barely moving his left arm at all during the game. Didn't lay a single tackle either for a player who averaged 6 per game last season.

Might be able to get away with it against the Dees but I'm definitely one on the concerned list obviously.

        Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:58

I just feel like its because it is ablett and because its his first injury everyone is losing their minds. I was looking closely at his arm too, but it's almost like we are making the injury seem worse than it is because every slight jog where his arm was by his side we all went "ooh he is in pain". But then the times he jogged with his right arm by his side we deem that as normal. I dunno. Could be wrong. My gut says hold, and the two times i haven't listened to my gut so far has already cost me so I'm not doing it again aha.

          SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:22

Yeah I really don't want to burn a trade on him myself only to get him in back later, but right now I'm seriously considering it.

Hopefully he has a good week of training and I'll feel more at ease than I am right now. For no training = no Gaz for me.

        TOPHAWK1 · 07/04/2015 at 21:10

I agree with you. Gaz is underdone. Never played a single NAB Challenge match. Why? Because he was buying time. His shoulder needs more time to recover properly. Gaz is normally in my side every day of the week. Like you, I am not prepared to risk 700 K to get him now. Simple as that.

        Dean · 08/04/2015 at 00:18

I hear your concern SCaddict, but as I said a few weeks back, GAJ will be subconsciously concerned about the injury for his first 4 to 6 games, he will continue this way until his confidence builds up again, its just human nature.

However because of this Re: his average being no higher then 120 by round 4 to 6 will mean he will be at least $100k cheaper.
Those who don't have him just keep watching him and if he is fine and doesn't miss games or doesn't start with the snot Vest, then jump on him around round 7 because by then his confidence level would have increased dramatically so he will play accordingly, then he will start scoring his usual 140+ scores and obviously increase in value.

For Gods sake the guy scored 119 practically with his arm tied behind his back. He is a freak.

      Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 09:35

Were we watching the same game? Sure you weren't watching a reply from another year?? He skirted the packs the whole time. Didn't see him go under a pack and get his own ball at all. I was there. I watched him like a hawk because I didn't start with him in my team and by the end, even though he SOMEHOW scored 119, I feel comfortable with my decision.

        Marco · 07/04/2015 at 12:33

I don’t agree with that I saw him go in and under. Still feel like everyone is just on an Ablett injury bandwagon. That was the worst possible performance Ablett could do and he scored 119. I honestly think he’s fine.

        Marco · 07/04/2015 at 15:14

Just to be clear all I’m saying is if you started him you hold him. It will be too hard and wasting trades just to bring him back in 3 or 4 rounds. In my opinion.

        shezza · 07/04/2015 at 16:31

I watched it too Sarah and I agree. He sheep dogged it and Viney smashed him every opportunity he had. I haven’t got Gaj either and so far, glad I don’t. His price will drop. Griffen is in the gun this week.

      Trab Pukcip · 07/04/2015 at 10:04

Mate, he didn't even make a tackle??!!

        Marco · 07/04/2015 at 12:36

I’m not saying I’m right, I’m just saying my opinion. And my opinion is he will be fine.

Dan · 06/04/2015 at 22:34

do prices change after week 2 or week 3?

    Mr Spock · 06/04/2015 at 23:26

    Week 2 Dan

      Bonters · 06/04/2015 at 23:47

Are you sure about this Mr Spock? Has always been after week 3 due to prices being based on 3 week averages.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:26

Yeah prices change once a player's THIRD game has been played so if you want to either dump or jump on someone you want to do this BEFORE that happens i.e. after round 2 occurs.

Westy · 06/04/2015 at 22:36

2089 for Round 1 – Appear to have avoided the carnage.
One change – McIntosh in for Steele (who I didn't have opportunity to change out pre-game). The Goddard DEF/FWD swing has already come in handy. Now the question is have him or Saad Wondersoap on the field.
Wins (100+) – Simpson, Lewis, Sloane, Ablett, Pendlebury, Beams, Goldstein, Bontempelli, Gray.
Losses (70 or less) – Newnes, Goodes, Taylor, Ibbotson, Oxley, Cripps, Miller, B Goddard, Lamb, Salem (and 4 donuts on the bench).

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:51

Wondersoap has played himself comfortably into G.F.C’s best 18.

Conor · 06/04/2015 at 22:39

Friend got 10 points higher than me and was ranked over 2000 spots ahead of me, looks like everyone is having some pretty close scores which is always good when things are tight, Not good if everyone has the same team tho.

Also figured out that 2110 points is the cut off for the top 10,000 and a couple will get in with a score of 2111

    Conor · 06/04/2015 at 22:41

Otherway round with the points if anyone was reading the second part

Michael · 06/04/2015 at 22:42

2120 and fairly happy, had CEY & JedA on field instead of Heeney & Vandenberg but you get that with rookies!
Decided to stay with GAJ as C instead of risking on Sloane, so a little unlucky there.
Rucks are a bit of a concern (Maric, McEvoy) but I'm not on my Pat Malone there!
Have cover for Lids next week as well as Parker if he doesn't get up, so no trades for me this week.
Captain loophole very tricky next week, with Collingwood finishing just before GCS and Syd games playing at same time, so may have to put VC on Pendles into GAJ.

Motsy · 06/04/2015 at 22:46

Hey Guys,

The McGrath boy from Lions, is he worth bringing in?
Where did he play? Is Rockliffs outage helping his cause in mids? Or was he actually stuck up fwd?

Cheers

    Jackson · 06/04/2015 at 22:53

Out and Out gun will play every week and was playing down back of the half back line

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 22:54

Played high half fwd and pushed up onto the wings at times.

    Bonters · 06/04/2015 at 23:49

Depends on who you'd be bringing him in for.

In most cases I'd say it's not urgent at all so I'd give it another week and see how he goes Round 2.

      Motsy · 07/04/2015 at 00:17

I'm hoping to save Round 2 for real corrective trades, hoping just to sneak him in for lambert or cripps (with a swing) – if he's going to play.

I have some other players who I might trade out R2, I was at the game at the MCG and had my eye on Ablett the whole time, he was not looking good, never two hands above the head, didnt even try to tackle, slow around the ground, looked tired from 1/4 time.

        Clunker · 07/04/2015 at 09:17

And scored 119 from 19 touches with no tackles.

          Trab Pukcip · 07/04/2015 at 10:06

His score magically jumped from 69 to 119 in the last quarter??!!! It was a very ugly game and he was lucky to score over 90!

          Mr chan · 07/04/2015 at 20:39

Champion data loves Ablett so just keep him 🙂

Fromberger · 06/04/2015 at 22:49

I know we should hope our trades & stay calm but geez Griffen was poor… I was convinced he would explode but looked disinterested?

Thinking of punting one of my punts Ricky Henderson with Griffen for Brodie Smith & Rich? I know that sounds like chasing points but one lots going south while the others north in a big way?

Thoughts please community & Jock?

    SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:02

I'd be keeping Griffen for the time being. If he gets another sub 90 score then yes the concern level will rise but he is a quality player.

I also wouldn't be immediately jumping on Brodie Smith just yet. That was a very skewed game on the weekend with the Roos not coming to play.

      Fromberger · 06/04/2015 at 23:07

Thanks SC! Roos were terrible apart from Goldy. So hold firm?

        SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:19

Yeah unless someone is clearly injured I think you have to hold these guys at least another week.

If Brodie Smith goes gangbusters again then by all means jump on him before the price rises next week but at least you'll have a sample size of two weeks of data to make your decisions with.

          Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 09:40

Excellent advice for everyone there SCaddict.

    Brett · 06/04/2015 at 23:04

Agreed on griffen … his work rate was pretty much non existent ! Prob the main issue with my side 2143 , selwood, newnes , martin … take the good with the bad !

Very early too pull the trigger, though at his price , his not exactly bargain basement hmm

    Mr Spock · 06/04/2015 at 23:30

I'll be holding him for another week. Five of his last six games against St Kilda have yielded less than 100 points, and three of those were mid-70's! Should pick up the pace against Melbourne and Sydney

DamonG · 06/04/2015 at 22:50

Managed to pull out 2264 this week, ranked 234 and would be lying if I said I wasn't satisfied. Couldn't have got off to a better start without Jock and the Inner Sanctum, however there is still work to be done, the real stuff starts now. Please community, stick with your guns – you picked them for a reason! Worst thing to do is panic and burn trades, keep calm,

@t_woof · 06/04/2015 at 22:50

Crouching's Pyanmanese story had me in stitches!! So good!! Never disappoints.

Will need a 'Best of' Pyanmanese Stories podcast at seasons end.

Keep up the good work.

Enjoy the week ahead all!

    Cowboy · 06/04/2015 at 23:50

    Absolutely agreed.

    Donavan · 07/04/2015 at 16:42

Maybe a CD, so I can put it on in the kids room at bedtime….they will laugh so hard they will be tied. And don't think they would fight trying to not go to bed.

    Touchwood · 07/04/2015 at 17:00

Will this redtube Crouching speaks of, help send my supercoach scores rocketing upwards?

Thomas · 06/04/2015 at 22:51

What do I do with Ibbotson

    Cezza93 · 06/04/2015 at 22:57

Keep, tough opposition still got 15 disposals, efficiency well down because of forward press

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 23:03

Another one like that and Ross Lyon will be asking the same question.

    SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:05

Not injured like some others so HOLD mate.

    TTJ · 07/04/2015 at 01:35

Playing as the 3rd tall defender & I would expect his scoring will be limited some what due to this.

Although, I would hold for this week at least & hope that either Dawson or Silvagni make a speedy recovery from injury.

Cezza93 · 06/04/2015 at 22:51

Ryan Griffin, i watched him and saw him getting outrun all day by better midfielders. With current form i can't see him returning to 2013 averages.

Did not like what i saw at all, I can upgrade to anyone. Who would you pick?

    Cyril is Delicious · 06/04/2015 at 23:18

I’m a fan of Jordan Lewis. Best midfielder in the best team. Proved me right today. I will come close to getting Lewis in this week.

    Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:21

Agreed and he will get attention all season. Wines was an absolute beast. And at this stage will be trading that way #bigcall

    SCaddict · 06/04/2015 at 23:27

Agree that Lewis is looking extremely attractive right now. He had a huge second half of the season last year so it's no real surprise to many and in fact I started with him too so no complaints here. 🙂

However I still think it's at least one week premature to dump Griffen. If he bangs out a 130 next week you'll be feeling pretty sick in the guts especially if your replacement doesn't tonne up or worse gets injured.

So why not give it another week and if he performs poorly again THEN jump on whoever looks the best to you after a fortnight of footy? The prices don't change until round 3 anyway.

      Cyril is Delicious · 06/04/2015 at 23:35

Agree with you mate, but Griffen just looked crap. Watched the hawthorn game and like the end of last year Lewis looked great, and I think he be a top 8 mid, where as I see Griffen struggling much like last year. I don’t think he will be a top 20 mid by end of year. Big call

      Hazza_08 · 07/04/2015 at 00:40

Ave 123 over last 15 games. That is my move for Griff.

      shane · 07/04/2015 at 13:54

I stated with Lewis and Im spewing he pumped out a 150 in rnd 1. He was my serious POD midfield pick and now everyone will jump on him with corrective trades when they wouldn't normally get him.

    TTJ · 07/04/2015 at 02:28

Hold for another week & if spits out another 70 move him on to Lewis

    Shake n Bake · 07/04/2015 at 12:48

He will get tagged again this week by Viney & be lucky to get 80!

Tulip · 06/04/2015 at 22:52

Thanks for taking my question on the podcast, weird hearing my voice.

Rockliff out for Dangerfield, then I’ll upgrade Walters (I know, I know) to Wingard. I wanted Wingard, earlier but was worried about his injury.

What do you lads think Sidebottom’s injury does to Pendlebury’s scoring?

    @HJ_Mitch · 06/04/2015 at 23:26

Din't know about Dangerfield for Rockliff, Tulip. Plenty of other high end midfielders to research.
Also, Winged for Walters is worth another look.
And I reckon Sidebottom's injury can only put more pressure on Pendles from the opposition.

Jez · 06/04/2015 at 22:57

Lewis is a massive POD for mine. He is in one of the best midfields in the comp and one of the most consistent performers in that team to boot. He will very rarely cop a tag (teams will go to players like Smith, Hill, Mitchell etc instead) and he will not miss many games this year. He's going to be staying in my team for the year at this point.

    @HJ_Mitch · 06/04/2015 at 23:22

Agreed, Jez. Only thing against a Lewis stellar year is his age and susceptibility to injury. I honestly can't see him pumping out post 120 SC scores every game.

      Cyril is Delicious · 06/04/2015 at 23:53

Age, his as old as Buddy, Roughead, and Griffen. So his not that old. Injury, played 24 games last year so I don’t think injury is an issue. Personally I see Lewis becoming one of the top midfielders, averaging 110-115+. I like him!

        marty · 07/04/2015 at 06:53

I’m with you. I chose him for a reason and for rewarded. He also kicks goals and often goes third man up as well. Will be top8 mid this year imo

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:02

I'm a believer in him too Jez. He's on the verge of elite status if not already there. Reckon most of the highest ranks teams will have him in by the byes at the latest.

Hawks had plenty of injuries last season but if they keep a relatively fit list they will steamroll through the competition this season with 20 plus wins and Lewis should go huge more often than not.

      Jez · 07/04/2015 at 14:26

To be honest I'm surprised theres not more Hawks players being talked about in terms of their supercoach relevance. Roughead is one of the most consistent key forwards in the game and has that extra dimension because he can pinch hit through the midfield. Gibson will now be freed up a bit with Frawley and Lake taking the big key forwards. Mitchell is underpriced although he will most likely be managed through the year, Hill looks like he will go to another level this season and even McEvoy/Ceglar are looming as a relevant ruck options.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 09:44

I reckon he's at elite status really. So consistent.

PreviouslyOnLost · 06/04/2015 at 23:04

Very pleased in my structure, but disappointed in my picks. Cheap defense and ruck seems the way to go. Dusty and Selwood were bound to have bad games, better to have them early.

Annoyed at myself for going against my own advice and selecting Griffin… but hey.

I'm giving Sailor Moon, Cripps and Henderson 1 more week and if they spud it up, they will be chopped.

matt · 06/04/2015 at 23:04

Hey guys, just some thoughts here
If you were looking fairly closely, youd notice an unusually high number of frees against for a lot of midfield players, particularly inside mids (newnes 5, priddis & fyfe 4, selwood, smitch, hodge & adams 3)
Perhaps the crackdown on holding the ball isnt helping these inside players, but hampering their scoring ability? Just something to think about and keep an eye on over the next few rounds

    thunder buddies · 07/04/2015 at 08:16

    Gee interesting stat…worth monitoring

    SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 17:43

Ablett was pinged at least twice as well.

Ben · 06/04/2015 at 23:19

Thoughts on a potential rockliff to Treloar?, huge ceiling, pockets 120k and a to boot a decent POD.

    Clunker · 06/04/2015 at 23:26

Griffin will be good for Treloar. He literally ran the entire game on his own. Eventually he will be sat on again.

    Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:26

If the tag stays on griffen the other GWS mids will have field days

    Bonters · 06/04/2015 at 23:51

I'd take Lewis or Wines ahead of Treloar.

      Ben · 06/04/2015 at 23:58

Already got wines locked away in the midfield, so between lewis and treloar, beginning to lean towards lewis as the tag is always going to Mitchell first, feel like treloar is probably more likely to cop an eventual tag than lewis is. Thoughts?

        Bonters · 07/04/2015 at 23:58

Yep agree, I'm just more confident in Lewis' scoring capabilities than Treloar's personally.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:09

Has a huge upside but not sure he's a serious top 10 mid threat just yet. Reckon you are better off trading Rocky for another proven elite myself.

      Ben · 07/04/2015 at 01:20

Yeah I think im leaning towards another proven, in that case would Lewis be the man or what even more proven options like a kennedy/beams be appropriate?

Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 23:26

I really really really really really want Tex Walker. He simply looked majestic and still has an easy run of fixtures to come. Forward line is Gray, Martin, Swan, Adams, Salem, Clark, so i don't think i will be trading any of those blokes out. Do i either wait another week and see if Spudnik Martin spuds his spud self up spud creek again and corrective trade then, or do i move Adams or Swan into the midfield for a cripps or something and put Walker into the forward line then. I know it looks like chasing points, but like Jock said I'm not sure who will stop him. Cheers community

    Tulip · 06/04/2015 at 23:38

Got Tex as VC with loophole for next week. Nobody at Collingwood can stop him. Soft run continues beyond that.
Martin looked underdone, watched him plod about all game, worrying signs. Maybe wait 1 more week?

      shezza · 07/04/2015 at 16:36

That’s what they said about Buddy v Coll last year and frost took him to the cleaners. A defender is only as good as his midfield. If they don’t press back, you are a gonna. Tippet had no chance on Tex with no pressure applied from their midfield.

        @TheNoLanguage · 07/04/2015 at 22:05

Agreed. North were hopeless, I watched the game start to finish Cloke, Buddy and Tomahawk all would've gone 150+ with midfield pressure like that. Watch him but I wouldn't be burning a trade just yet.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:13

No doubt Tex is underpriced but KPPs are notoriously erratic with their scoring. Have to be very careful when chasing previous week scores when it comes to power forwards as they can look unstoppable one week and impotent the next.

The Roos really didn't come to play either so I'm not falling over myself to get him in just yet but he obviously should be on everyone's watch list at the very least.

Rascal · 06/04/2015 at 23:27

Had Lewis from day dot of preseason and happy with my POD selection… alas he'll now go from 5% ownership to 90%+
Got talked into Dusty and Griffin when I should have stuck to my gut and kept Walker and Wines. Time for corrective trades!

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:18

A bit premature to be culling Griffen and Dusty for mine. Were you also talked into Swanny and TBC? Coaches need to be responsible for their own selections Rascal.

I'm more concerned with the Cripps and Salems of this world myself and they are notice this week in Addicts more so than Griffen or Dusty.

james · 06/04/2015 at 23:27

Had Kristian Jaksch for whatever reason and wondering who to trade him for? Awkward price, can't quite Hunt unless I burn two trades. Was considering downgrading Maric to TBC for some extra coin, but seems like a waste so early, just need someone to put in for Jaksch?

    james · 07/04/2015 at 12:01

    anyone?

      @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 13:34

Got all three of Saad, McIntosh and Oxley down back?

@HJ_Mitch · 06/04/2015 at 23:30

My opinion is that GAJ is sore physically and mentally. He'll take a few weeks (how many?) to get back into the swing of things.
Santa next week and then Geelong – bang! That will test his ability.
I reckon his value will drop significantly by then.
Leave him alone if you haven't got him and watch!

    throttlefinger · 07/04/2015 at 00:26

Agree. If you have him, keep him and see how he goes vs. STK for the off chance he goes 110+. Won't happen vs Cats. Not a question if his price will drop but by how much it will drop.

Great podcasts gents. Those stories are pure gold, Crouching!

Watched my GWS play a feisty game with Jock's Saints. It was a close game and waited for Griff to insert himself. He never turned it up a notch, basically was used as a dupe so Shiels and Treloar could go free. Doubt that will change. Out for Wines.

Paul · 06/04/2015 at 23:47

I’ve got 99k in the bank and I have Andrew Swallow, should I:

1. Upgrade to a premium

2. Downgrade to a mid pricer Eg. Bont

3. Keep

    @HJ_Mitch · 06/04/2015 at 23:55

Keep for at least 1 more week. Plying Lions next week.

    Ben · 07/04/2015 at 00:01

Hold, north got belted all over the park and at 500k the value is there to be had, if he puts in a sub 90 next week you have the cash to upgrade him to a lewis/dangerfield/treloar option.

      Paul · 07/04/2015 at 00:09

Already got lewis, jpk, beams and Fyfe as my premiums mids though. I was thinking downgrade swallow to Bont which gives me 177k to get Brodie smith the next week
      (Scored 2304 this week)

        Ben · 07/04/2015 at 01:18

You must be right up the top in the rankings with that score, i do like that option but want to make sure of smith's point scoring ability this season as he was in a team that annihilated their opposition on the weekend. But otherwise I think Bont is a very solid m5

        Frank · 07/04/2015 at 03:20

why haven't you joined jocks supercoach group? ripper prizes up for grabs

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:41

Hard to take much out of the Roos Crows game I reckon. Players like Swallow and Wells are much better than they showed so give him another week at least.

Ben · 07/04/2015 at 00:11

Very very very concerned about Ibbotson, as I managed to select the right rookies i have the luxury to hold him till next week however if next week ibbotson delivers another sub 80 while one of geary/giggins delivers a 90+ i may pull the trigger. Good plan?

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:35

It wouldn't be a huge priority if I was in your shoes but yes if you feel just as strongly next week about this as you do right now then make the switcheroo if you have no other pressing matters. Both Cripps and Salem are on notice in my side.

However just bear in mind swapping one speculative midpricer who isn't injured for another is usually risky business. Sometimes it works out and about just as often it doesn't.

    @TheNoLanguage · 07/04/2015 at 22:09

I have the same problem Ben. Going to look very closely at Geary this week and have Ibbotson in the gun for him, hard to assess after one week though

demon · 07/04/2015 at 00:29

Wells to rich?
don't usually like to trade early but rich looked was an absolute general in his new role on saturday
would be an ideal stepping stone to gaz
wells, along with north was woeful and I don't think he will have the consistency of rich

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 00:37

Not just yet mate. Roos were deplorable on the weekend. Rich could just as easy have 70 this weekend and Wells 105. So wait at least another week before making this call would be my advice fwiw.

    Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:06

What SC said, they are likely to swap scores next week.

the dilemma · 07/04/2015 at 00:49

I went with Rocky over Ablett but after watching his dodgy shoulder, I can't bring myself to do the obvious and bring God Jnr. in for Rocky. Does the community think this is craziness? I feel my initial decision was vindicated and that Jnr. will miss early games and his price will drop, hence my reluctance to do this trade.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 01:11

No way would I bring Gaz in after what I saw on the weekend. Bring in a form and 100% healthy gun like JPK, Sloanedog or Lewis.

There will be an opportunity to get Gaz in later when he's fitter probably for cheaper than he currently is.

      Caz · 07/04/2015 at 01:53

119 playing sore, I would take that every day, scored more than fyfe pendles selwood etc.

        Trab Pukcip · 07/04/2015 at 10:17

His score was inflated with 2 goals! Remember he was 69 at the 3/4 break! He also didn't make 1 tackle which is not a good sign! Fyfe had a blinder of a game, remember he was playing against an awesome port side – Gaz was struggling against a pedestrian Melbourne midfield!

          the dilemma · 07/04/2015 at 10:29

Thanks boys, I hate religion anyway so I'm steering clear of God's son.

    todds7568 · 07/04/2015 at 03:59

Rocky gone for a while now and Gaz gets a sub par 119, Gaz all the way

vinnymac · 07/04/2015 at 00:55

I'm keeping Dusty, I'm keeping Harry Taylor, and I'm keeping Parker. But if any of them spud up again my finger will be itching to hit that trade button!

    Jacob · 07/04/2015 at 01:17

Parker didnt spud up at all. Would've scored 120+ if he wasnt knocked out. He's a gun!

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 01:34

I have Parker and no way am I trading him, even if he misses this week.

The lad is a superstar and had 35 touches from just 63% TOG when he got KO'd.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 10:14

Gotta keep Parker. Dusty and Griffin are definitely on notice.
Will hold them at least another week.

PDAP · 07/04/2015 at 01:00

I have $85 K in reserve. Who to trade in for Jaksch, who looked too skinny and slow, and is out for at least two weeks. Am I being too harsh seeing that Jaksch had a couple of broken ribs. Geary?

    Canny the Manny · 07/04/2015 at 01:32

Geary is a risk, but probably your best option, providing you already have both McIntosh and Saad in your side.

    @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 01:54

Geary will fade out at the season progresses.

What does your back 8 currently look like?

BundyBear · 07/04/2015 at 01:08

What to do about Sidebottom. 6-8 weeks off. 🙁

    Canny the Manny · 07/04/2015 at 01:31

Sideways trade to Sloane would be my move, that or a downgrade to someone like Wines perhaps. If you can sacrifice that 120 point generation however, then a downgrade could come in handy (Vandenberg or Rich maybe?) to fix other matters somewhere else in your side.
I must say well done on choosing Sidebum though, he is an absolute jet and I was kicking myself halfway through that game for trading him out. You are extremely unfortunate he stuffed his thumb, I guess that's footy though!

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 01:42

You have plenty of options. Really like Sloandog, JPK or Lewis for similar coin for Sidebum or maybe make some cash going to Wines, Treloar or Danger if you could make good use of it.

    SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 18:32

    I've got Sidey and Rockliff.
I 'd already decided who I wanted to upgrade to before last week for a fully upgraded midfield so I'm trading to JPK and Sloane.
I'm not even considering this weeks scores as an influence on these imports.
I'll get Sidey back as soon as he plays. He won't lose fitness and explodes after a rest.
I'll get Rockliff back when it's upgrade time.
You've surely decided who you think will be the top eight midfielders before this round, so stick to your guns.
It's extremely frustrating trading out Sidey given the team name. I feel I'm breaking some kind of rule.

Canny the Manny · 07/04/2015 at 01:26

Bloody hell I needed that boys, beat myself up after a shit round and countless hours of preseason research, but I'll pull through!

What do we do about Ivan bloody Maric? Considering going down to Luenberger, then upgrading to a better premo later… Thoughts lads?

    @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 02:00

    Hold tight for another week.

Who's your R2 Canny the Manny?

I'm sitting on Goldstein and Bellchambers. There's no way i'd be considering trading out Goldstein.

Thinking it you're the same but Maric and Bellchambers….then sit on them.

PDP · 07/04/2015 at 01:28

should i trade Boomer to the Bont?

    @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 02:01

    No way.

North will come out firing v Lions, similar to Round 2 last season. Pretty sure Boomer went HUGE that day.

but it seems that i have to do something about Sidebum,

do i get someone who went big over the weekend like Heppell, Ellis or Treloar, or Port's scoring trio of Ebert, Wines or Boak,

is there someone else that's better?

        SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 03:09

Yeah sidebum is a must trade. JPK, Sloane and Lewis all look great choices to me.

Treloar and Wines seem attractive too if you could really use the cash but not sure they are serious top 10 mid chances in 2015 just yet.

        @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 13:35

Agree with SCaddict – JPK, Sloane or Lewis very good options.

          shezza · 07/04/2015 at 16:39

Look at Syd draw, 3 of their last 4 games are against inferior opposition. Can catch up points or help win leagues at the pointy end of the season

        SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 18:40

Refer back to your research. If you predicted the top eight midfielders, pick one that you haven't got.

Totally ignore this weeks scores. They don't reflect an annual average.

    demon · 07/04/2015 at 18:36

massive flat track bully capable of 150s against lesser sides at home, agree with t_woof he could go large this week

Cozza · 07/04/2015 at 01:52

I am someone who has GAJ in my team, but am definitely holding. The question we should be asking is 1/ is he going to be in my team at the end of the season and 2/ if he is, how much are 2-3 trades worth to me.

Assuming he does not do more damage to the shoulder and does not miss consistent games, GAJ will be in the top midfielders again at year end. I’m expecting his price to drop say $100-150k, but I brought him in as a keeper and I’m not prepared to burn 2-3 trades for that kind of money. We will have enough other worries with donuts and rookies during the year that we will need all the trades we can – I was one of those who ran out of trades before the end of last season which cost me a GF and a slide from the top 1000 to outside the top 3000 with the donuts I had.

I’m also not expecting 119 from him this week. He only had 60 odd fantasy points – was his cp and 2 goals that got him such a high score this week – we were very lucky to get away with that score from a well sub par game. Expecting him to average 100odd until his shoulder improves, and then hopefully back to Gaz of old 🙂

If you think Gary will be there at the end of the year, I suggest we hold him. That said, if he is going to miss weeks, he has to go at his price. WTB a crystal ball

Jayden · 07/04/2015 at 02:26

I want to rage trade a few players Selwood Martin Cripps I’m looking at you boys but I know it’s best not to

Only trade I’m considering will be goldy to a cheaper ruck depending on how the ruck situation is

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 03:06

Goldy still tonned up (ok only just) but he was the only ruck to do so in a side that was completely dominated so I'd be in no hurry to trade him out.

If few rucks tonne up again next week then yes there will be major concern over the impact of the new scoring rules but I'm waiting another week at least, before contemplating panic trading there.

      Jayden · 07/04/2015 at 04:11

Yeah as I said I’m only considering it will most likely just try to do a no trade week
Think I got my rookies good so far apart from ahmad saad and miller but they will be at F8 n M11

        demon · 07/04/2015 at 14:09

Solution: sin bin them, trade them out at the start of the weekn then reserve the trade come friday and hope that they have learned their lesson!!!

todds7568 · 07/04/2015 at 03:55

What do we think about Griffen? Will he be tagged all season long and leave Trelor to roam free and produce more scores like round 1, understand that round 1 was again Saints and not somebody like Hawks but got me a little worried about Griffen, will wait 1 or 2 more rounds i think

Mark · 07/04/2015 at 04:37

For those of you with Clancee Pearce – you need to read the article below:

Tyler · 07/04/2015 at 06:59

Saving a trade until the end of the week to see if Jimmy Bartel is named or not, and I also have to trade out Sidebum. Not great having to trade out not 1 but 2 keepers in the first round. Not very happy at the moment but I still got 2127, so I guess that cancels out the bad news for now

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 07:51

Sidebum needs to go Tyler. Sad because he was looking magnificent. For heavens sake don't trade out Jimmy. Will only be a week. He still scored 90 in a train wreck. If he misses it will only be a week & you will regret it.

    Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:11

Agree Tyler, Even if Bartel misses a week, you hold him. 90 when his team got spanked is a great score, same with Goldy and Higgins for Nth.

    SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 18:59

Seven News reported Bartel will be rested this week with a six day break but as INP and Spiff said, hold.

Rick Grimes · 07/04/2015 at 07:26

What was the deal with Ibbotson? Is he going to be SC relevant?

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 07:52

Going by the weekend probably not. But give him another week & have a close look at your options on who to go to if he spuds it up again.

Hoops · 07/04/2015 at 07:26

Thoughts about Dusty and Griff

    PDAP · 07/04/2015 at 08:39

Dusty yes, Griff probably not because it looks like he will be copping the tag. I can't remember if/how he coped with the tag whilst at Western Bulldogs. Judging by the weekend game, not well.

Flynn · 07/04/2015 at 07:31

I scored 2166

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 07:38

    Great score well done

    Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 08:08

Well how about it, so did I.

    jockreynolds · 07/04/2015 at 08:47

    brilliant score FlynN!!

I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 07:38

Mr Cripps. See that wood over there, it’s called the pine. That’s where you’ll be this week son!

Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 07:50

Currently have Mumford and Goldstein. Feel like I've made a huge mistake. Listened to the Podcast, but I can make my mind up. What should I do? Burn 2 trades early, or hold firm?

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 08:05

Goldy was good. Only ruckman to ton up over the weekend. Leave him alone. Don't get trigger happy on one round. Have another look at Mummy he still scored 98. So you had the 2 highest scoring rucks which is good. They might be over priced but we are all in the same boat if you picked big boys.

      Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 08:07

If the two of them depreciate considerably, Ill be kicking myself for the rest of the season. Thanks for the reassurance though.

        Rick Grimes · 07/04/2015 at 08:20

But I’m guessing you bought them as keepers. So as long as they are still scoring well, any price reduction is irrelevant.

          Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 14:29

Lets just hope their scores stay consistent and high though!

    PDAP · 07/04/2015 at 08:47

You are crazy to be even thinking like you are, otherwise you will be trading two players every week and you will have zilch trades for the SC finals. They are both keepers. Are Jacob holders trading him out? No.
NO player does well every week. I'd take their scores anytime. All due respect to the Podcast, they also make boo-boos, but you don't read about them because they are all about the positives.
Have fun Luviboy 1 and don't fret – yet!

      Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 14:30

Well save the fretting for later. I dodged every injured player this week, so I really shouldnt be worried ahah.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 12:25

I have the same two rucks.
They scored the 2 out of the highest 3 scores for Rucks (Blicavs in there as well from Geelong but who would pick him?)
Can't argue with that. Price aside, they scored decent, and you know they can do better.
End of the day, they scored better than other ruck options.

      Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 14:29

      Agreed.

    Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:12

So you have the best and third best ruckman, what problem?

      Luviboy1 · 07/04/2015 at 17:52

The amount of money that will leak if their scores dont rise.

        demon · 07/04/2015 at 18:41

the money leak is irrelevant though as you never plan to keep them all seasn, therefore your loss will never be realised.
yes, it means you get less value for money from your initial squad, but the change in value has no actual effect on your team unless you are trading them out later ( which you shouldn't)

          demon · 07/04/2015 at 18:42

          whoops delete that "never "

        Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 19:37

So what you still have the most points available in the ruck. Goldy won't drop much if at all, Mummy might drop a bit but he might also score 150 against Melbourne. ! Have Goldy and wouldn't consider trading him at all, he scored very well in a side that was shite. Chill

Corey · 07/04/2015 at 08:10

hello community could i have some help with my trades please!
i was thinkng getting j selwood out for j lewis
then getting r griffen out for o wines
should i get dangerfield in? should i sell cripps? Should i bring in bellchambers?

Thoughts would be much appreciated.

No, no, no, no & no.

      I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 09:25

Goldstein down to Luenburger
Kolodjashnij up to Brodie Smith
Thoughts??

    @Rem_Wah · 07/04/2015 at 09:03

hold Goldstein… No reason to trade in my opinion

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 12:26

    Don't do it.
    Hold the Gold

    Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:14

Goldys score was massive why on earth would you trade him? In a win it would likely be 115+

Mike · 07/04/2015 at 08:41

If there was a turd to pick, then I picked them. Coming dead last in both my leagues.

The season’s over before its begun.

Thinking of giving Lifeline a call.

    jockreynolds · 07/04/2015 at 08:48

Pull yourself together Mike old mate! Take this as a CHALLENGE and claw your way back – YOU CAN DO THIS!

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 09:36

30 trades is plenty Mike. You can trade your way out of this. That's what the good players do.

    Kev · 07/04/2015 at 11:39

Mike, dead last is equal first, buddy! No premiership points on offer yet. Chin up

    Donavan · 07/04/2015 at 17:12

Only one way to go Mike.

Chances are that the teams your playing this week, may save their trades, thinking they will cruise to victory, this makes them vulnerable. Time to strike is now.

That said, plenty of good players scored poorly this week. I wouldn't be trading any North players unless they are dropped, as they will get the biggest rocket this week, and come out breathing fire, same could probably said for GCS players, but to a lessor extent.

    Touchwood · 07/04/2015 at 17:31

Chin up tiger. Rise to the challenge. whatever you do…. don't get down on yourself. I tried this once and nearly put my back out!

Paul · 07/04/2015 at 08:55

This week i had salem on the field with hogan on the bench, should i swap them around this week as Melbourne are playing GWS?

    Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 09:52

I had the same. Leaving them as they are for this week too. KPPs are far more inconsistent. Reckon Salem should outscore Hogan most weeks.

      shezza · 07/04/2015 at 16:42

I had the same plus Lamb. I have put both Dees boys on the field and Lamb is emg unless Lambert comes in.
I have Cripps as emg and if he stinks it up, I’ll sub Krak off field with EOY or Heeney.

medadsson · 07/04/2015 at 09:13

I am aware of a new age self declared prophet who has promised he will be able to turn Walters into Wines, do you think this is a scam?

    Jason WindowLicker · 07/04/2015 at 14:47

    Haha GOLD

    Booma · 07/04/2015 at 23:14

    Witty stuff Medad…

Matt · 07/04/2015 at 09:15

I will likely hold off trading until next week but these are my thoughts so far on possible trades.

Goldy to burger

cripps to vanderberg or rich

kk to geary or B smith

or possibly griffen to sloane/parker/wines

What are your thoughts community?

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 09:33

Gday Matt. Goldy to Burger ludicrous. Goldy highest scoring ruckman for the round & the rest of his team didn't show up. He thumped Jacobs. Cripps hold but you need Vanders somehow. Rich meh. Give KK another week, he was tagging this week. Hold grif for another week. Concerning game from Grif yes but as soon as you trade him the SC grab your plumbs & he sores 150. Another 70 next week then it's justifiable. I also have KK & Grif squarely on the chop block.

      Matt · 07/04/2015 at 10:32

      Thanks for the advice Pieman.

The only ways I can get vanders is to downgrade cripps or generate some cash from another trade to upgrade T Miller. Thoughts on cripps to vanders next week if cripps under performs again?

        I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:40

For sure. Think whatever the case Vanders looks a must have.

      NateCrows · 07/04/2015 at 12:41

Goldy absolutely kiilled it and only got 100……..this is crazy.

This is a massive concern. so many hitouts to advantage and still only 100!!!
I have Goldy and maybe it is worth downgrading to burger with the new system and upgrading a mid pricer to premium?

        Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 17:20

No , he only got 100 because nth got thumped. If the result was reversed Jacobs would have had 80 odd and Goldy 115+.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 12:29

Too early. Hold Cripps for now. Surely will gain value.
Hold Gold. He pulled the highest score of any rucks this week?

    SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 19:14

I would normally say hold Cripps but Vandenberg looks essential. I have both.

If you can wait until next week then do so but if you need two trades of the corrective variety for next week I'd pull the trigger now.

wonderboi · 07/04/2015 at 09:25

mid wines or dangerfield?

    SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 19:14

    I prefer top end wines.

    cow roll · 07/04/2015 at 21:34

I don't have eitherwines more consistent. Danger has higher celling and is difficult to tag.

PD420 · 07/04/2015 at 09:56

Probably a dumb question but when do the players have their price changes?

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:05

At the completion of round 3

Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 10:00

Off to an OK start. Scored 2104. Biggest concerns out of round 1 are Griffin, Salem and Cripps. Reasonably happy with my premiums. No huge scores and other than Griffin and Newnes, no deplorable ones either, so a solid start. Happy to leave Goldstein and Maric in the ruck for the year. Being a massive Crows fan and not starting any crows other than Ellis-Yoleman is disappointing. Probably skewed my bias too far the other way!!! Got my eye on Tex for next week, where I'll get to watch him live at Etihad!! Bring on round 2!!!

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:09

Gday Sarah. Got a feeling your boys will take up where they left off & towel my boys this week. Solid score from you your in the hunt. I'm surprised you didn't have Tex or Danger. Sidebum will be sorely missed. He was looking very good.

      Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 10:16

Hi Pieman! Yeah well, I was trying to pick with my head, not my heart. Like Jock says though, I'm not convinced Danger's score is sustainable… Sloane and Tex on the other hand…
Sloane was in and out of my side over the preseason, went with Fyfe and Beams in the end. I'm happy it'll work out ok and I'll get Sloane in at some stage during the year.
Sidebum is a huge loss for you guys. Hope it's a good game. Crows might get ahead of themselves. Still, it's nice to see them on top of the ladder!!! Had to mention that cos it's been a while!!!
How did your team perform after the first round?

        I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:48

Not sold on Danger yet either. Playing forward a bit. 2033 very disappointing. Spud Premos galore. Most did. I hate KPF players. But Geez Tex looked like Carey. He can follow monster scores with spud scores. But I don’t think we’ve got a gorilla that can handle Tex. Could be the Johnny B move.

          Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 12:17

All eyes have been on Tex's score but what about Betts? Scored 154, started in the middle a bit, 21 disposals, 7 tackles and 4 goals… MASSIVE POD. Am I delusional or is this significant? Huge positional change for Eddie. One to watch as well this weekend I reckon.

            I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 13:13

Could be Genius Sarah. Certainly not without risk. Will be interesting to see who the Pies put on Betts this week. Enormous POD.

              Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 14:05

I'm not saying I'm trading him in… yet. I'm just keen to keep a close eye on where he plays this week. He started at a few centre bounces and I know Walsh is keen to increase the flexibility of the team.

                I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 14:13

It's an intriguing one Sarah. 154 would have been nice last week. I can't believe the Blues let him go. They suck for fwd options. Bonus for you guys. I will be watching him closely.

                  Sarah · 09/04/2015 at 08:20

Watched the North game again last night and he started off the back of the square and ran through the middle at centre bounces more often than not, had 2 centre clearances and a large number of midfield possessions throughout the game. Kicked his 4 goals and had 7 tackles. He also did this through the NAB but I missed it. This could be a significant positional change. He's never been used through there before. Hmmm. Tex or Eddie or both? Could be the decision that makes or breaks my season!!

            dognino · 07/04/2015 at 19:50

Do you think he only started in the middle because they were winning comfortably and wanted to rest some of the mids? Otherwise it's a big move for him, getting midfield time and snagging goals will be great for his SC output.

              Sarah · 08/04/2015 at 07:51

He started at a couple of centre bounces early in quarters, so I don't think it's about resting mids so much as it could be that Eddie has been added to the permanent rotation through there to introduce more speed and flexibility to the crows line up. I'm very excited by this move and will be watching him closely this weekend as well as watching the replay of the north game again. Might do that tonight and count how many times he started in there and when…

    lostlarrikin · 07/04/2015 at 22:14

Hey Sarah, nice start. Lacklustre here with 2016, usual suspects in Cripps, Griff and Dusty unders. Interested in ur thoughts on Hendrson and why he performed so poor for the Crows?

      Sarah · 08/04/2015 at 07:48

Hey there Lostlarrikin! Henderson actually played really well, but maybe the structure the crows are playing in the backline doesn't allow him to go huge? Jeansch only scored in the 70's too. Also, with the crows playing so well, the ball didn't go to the defence as much as it would in a more even match, they smashed North in the centre clearances!! You need to take this into account when assessing Henderson's score. He played through the halfback line and wing. It's not that he didn't play well, it's that the crows played VERY well. We'll know more about the crows after this weekend. I'd hold him for at least one more week. The good thing is he's in Walsh's round 1 team, so there's a role for him. Hope this helps.

        lostlarrikin · 08/04/2015 at 21:14

Thnx Sarah, yeah really wasn’t sure where he played. Not planning to rage trade yet but if the Crows can continue that form over next few wks vs some (arguably) middle of the road opposition then their defenders may become less relevant. Cheers

Rowdy · 07/04/2015 at 10:14

Took a risk on some midpricers and looks like I've made the right choices. paid off week one.
Score 2253 and a ranking of 329. great start!

seamus · 07/04/2015 at 10:23

I really want to trade gaz but I just can't bring myself to do it

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:55

If you’ve got him I think you need to back him in. Waste of trades for mine. You’ll want him back later.

      seamus · 07/04/2015 at 11:56

      Yeah that's what I'm thinking

Mac · 07/04/2015 at 10:23

i don't think I'm going to trade at all this week, I'll give Dusty and the likes one more week. No point in wasting trades early in the season unless you need to

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 10:56

Rookie corrective week Mac. It you nailed the rooks then there’s no need. Might be some big calls next week.

mrfosak · 07/04/2015 at 10:33

Had 2 non-scoring rookies on the bench in J.Hamling and K.Lambert.

Scoring rooks where: (Def) K.McIntosh, A.Saad, (Mid) B.Newton, P.Cripps, A.Vandenberg, I.Heeney

Hold for another week to see if they play, or look to bring in playing rooks. If trade any suggestions who to?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 10:35

I'd wait another week, then pick the best rooks based on 2 scores if Hamling and Lambert don't get a game.

      mrfosak · 07/04/2015 at 10:52

Seems like the smart option. Too tempting to pull the trigger early, gotta keep reminding myself it's only round 1..

    Favalinko u Beauty · 07/04/2015 at 13:17

Lambert should be in for Lids this week, I reckon

      SideBySidebottom · 07/04/2015 at 19:27

That would be a good trade if it happens and would leave one up your sleeve for the following week for an unplanned contingency.

Mac · 07/04/2015 at 10:46

This is my current team. I don't believe I need to change anything. Depending if Martin performs this week, I may have to trade him next week.

Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, Kolo, Goodes, Saad, McIntosh, Oxley
Ablett, Fyfe, Beams, Selwood, Parker, Cripps, Heeney, Vandenberg, Ellis-Yolmen, Miller, Steele
Goldstein, Maric, Read
Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, Clark, Lonie, Lambert

Thoughts

    Jez · 07/04/2015 at 12:09

I would keep tabs on whether Parker plays this week or not. Copped a massive hit and was clearly concussed so he would certainly be in doubt. If you think you can sit him on the bench for a week in the event he doesn't play then it might be worth holding onto him but you then need a rookie who will score at least 70-80 points as a replacement

Raging here having picked the right decision to not go with ablest as he played quite bad for his standard and played an 80 point game then supercoach go and give him + 40 , which in some cases is + 80 if he's captain. Just annoyed that he didn't deserve that and I didn't pick him, hoping for a 50 from the god next week

not going to make any trades this week UNLESS….

all 3 of goodes, cripps and miller get dropped i will trade 1 out this week.

say cripps to vanden berg…..?

touk miller to?

goodes to?
have 27k in the bank
cheers

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 11:24

I'd say Vandenberg is pretty close to a must have cuz, if selected again this weekend which appears likely. Roosy still needs to squeeze in Vince and potentially Dawes into this team somehow but I'd be pretty surprised if Vandy is a casualty to make way.

Cripps probably deserves another chance first but I'd be setting aside a trade next week to bring in Vandy if both players again perform similarly to how they did last weekend.

      cuz · 07/04/2015 at 11:36

yes very concerned about picking miller over VB.

where could i go with cripps? i have newton, heeney, CEY and miller who looks to be gone for VB

no ones pops into the mind.

Also with goodes looks like there is no one to go to. currently have brown, oxley, saad and mcintosh.

        dennis · 07/04/2015 at 12:46

the only trade i am making this week is miller to vandenberg, as i can already tell from one game that it is the right move to make.

whereas cripps had a shocker but he will still make you some decent coin and shoud average 80-90 if you stick fat with him. At least give him another week unless you know you will need to make trades next week

    Kev · 07/04/2015 at 11:32

A lot of ifs, buts, and maybes there, cuz. Would wait for team news on Thursday before stressing yourself out. FWIW I don't think any of them will be dropped

    basil · 07/04/2015 at 23:34

Cripps has a break even of 12 and if he scores 50-60 every week well barely go up in value where as vandenberg has a break even of -127 and a rd 6 projected price of $400,000. Plus the $80k you save from the trade

    Donavan · 07/04/2015 at 17:22

Not sure I would move on Dusty yet.

That said Lewis would be a great trade-in, he has put up great games for a while now, was Hawthorn's best & fairest last year. He is a gun.

Also thoughts on P Cripps from Carlton? Keep him or Trade him?

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 11:15

He's on notice for sure. A sizeable investment, for a rookie at any rate, but if you already have Heeney, Vandenberg and CEY I'm not sure there is a helluva lot to consider downgrading too. Newton, Brayshaw And NVB were pretty decent for similar money although not sure either is in the must have category for mine.

Hopefully we get a look at Lambert soon as he could be a potential Cripps replacement if you don't already have him, if Cripps again goes missing against the Eagles this Friday.

So I'd say give Cripps another week to deliver and hopefully other good opportunities present themselves if he doesn't.

      Kev · 07/04/2015 at 11:27

Touk Miller to VandenBerg?
Oxley to T.Hunt/Gary/ Savage/ Vlaustin?

    Kev · 07/04/2015 at 11:24

Wait a week on sideways rookie trades. Miller might go big next week and Vandenberg may spud up.

Hard picking the top mid price players. Vlastuin is in the breakout zone, while Geary has experience on his side. Not interested in Savage or Hunt. I'd wait a week on this trade idea as well, get a better look at all 4

Jambo · 07/04/2015 at 11:18

I scored 2036 with Rockliff as captain and poor scores from Jaksch and Greene. I'm pretty chuffed. I think the time has come to take Eddie Betts seriously. He topped the tackle count for the Crows and went at 70 odd % kicking efficiency. I offer to the community my synopsis of round one.
1. Adelaide has to be feared this year.
2. Pick Tex Walker, soft draw the front half of year, good shark move.
3. West Coast will be SuperCoach irrelevant this year.
4. Ablett is a write-off the front half of the year.

    Sarah · 09/04/2015 at 08:16

Eddie also played through the midfield. I looked over his NAB games again and he played through there then too and had the crows highest average over the preseason. Am I crazy, I'm thinking of trading him into my team over Tex???

    matt · 07/04/2015 at 12:09

    vandenberg

Rick Grimes · 07/04/2015 at 11:37

What went wrong with Sheed? Didn't see the game but he certainly stunk up my team.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 12:28

Rookies are inconsistent, it comes with the territory. Had 17 touches from 73% TOG but deplorable efficiency at just 47%.

Not sure he was super fantasy relevant to begin with, given his pricing, although Johnny Bruyn among others appears to rate him highly.

Hopefully he can put up a better showing this Friday for if not you may need to look at other options especially if you don't already have one of Heeney, Vandenberg or CEY.

      Rick Grimes · 07/04/2015 at 13:55

Have all three. So might lose him for Lambert if he gets named.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 14:05

Yeah, agreed, I picked Sheed on the field above vandenberg, Heeney and EY on the bench…. ouch.
Still definitely giving Sheed at least another week or even a few more before I cull him for another mid rookie. He should gain SOME value on the bench at least.

Thoughts on goldy to bell chambers and crisps to bont

Rick · 07/04/2015 at 12:06

I have a dillema, I have goldstein and maric. I scored 2048 and my team really underperformed with Shaw, Newnes, Goodes, Cripps, Griffen, Goddard, lumumba and sam mitchell. This was a bad week for me and if those guys didnt massively under perform I could see myself getting 2100 or maybe even 2200. I really dont want to make trades this round but I feel like I must trade out one of my ruckman to a bellchambers. I am happy with goldstein as he is the only ruckman who got a a century. My question is when I downgrade maric ill be left with 130k to play around. Do I just keep it going into round 2? Or do I upgrade someone? Also I have bartel and luke parker. My team has alot of potential. Help please.

    Simon Hiscock · 07/04/2015 at 12:21

Why? They are the 2 top scoring rucks? Goody got 100 in a side that got smashed, that’s is a win every week. Bellchambers is a stepping stone to a top 2 ruck. Hold

      Rick · 07/04/2015 at 13:21

      I have maric not bellchambers.

    Dingo · 07/04/2015 at 13:04

If your team has a lot of potential why do you want to change it? Everyone had a bad R1 you are not on your Pat Malone. Focus instead on your structure and think about how you are going to use your trades to get the top five scorers on each line by end of year and stop stressing about last week scores – Cripps might get 100+ and TBC only 60 R2 – you have then wasted trades to chase scores that are not guaranteed. I will guarantee you will have injury/ suspension and changed role dilemmas to worry about without creating these panic trades. Ride the ups and downs, focus on structure and trade to your max advantage.

    derek · 07/04/2015 at 13:54

I have sam Mitchell. he was having a very good game until that awful StevieJ showed his true colours and shoulder charged him in the back (He needs to get 2-3 weeks for that). it was about 6 mins before half time, Mitchell had 13 touches until then, it wasn't until 20 min mark or 3rd quarter he had another kick. I just hope he is ok, but it knocked the wind out of him and took him a while to get going, game was already won so he went half pace.

Currently have Goldstein and Nik Nak in the rucks. Will give it another week to see how the ruck performances pan out in Round 2, however I am thinking of downgrading Goldstein to Luey and then upgrading Thumper to B.Smith in defence after Round 2. I think this should give me an extra 30+ points per week and an additional 50k before price adjustments. Thoughts anyone?

    derek · 07/04/2015 at 13:50

I would take Goldy and Thumper over Luey and Smith any day.

James · 07/04/2015 at 12:41

Is it worth making the trade for Hunt with KK

    Kev · 07/04/2015 at 16:58

    Wait a week then consider.

carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 12:49

I have something to say that all should consider about ruck prices.

I believe that premium rucks after new rules of scoring will be priced low 500k e.g 500-540k
Just don't see Jacobs, Mummy, Goldstien and Sandi being worth the coin in our new age SuperCoach teams.
I have done some mathematical future trades in next 2 rounds and can see me trading Goldstien in for Burger boy and then use the 300k to upgrade 2 midpricers to premiums in my midfield and defense.

Last year ruck combined scores always sat well at 200-250 points every week
This year I would be happy to take 175-225 points every week

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 13:07

    It's a valid concern Carla.

I'm holding on to Goldy myself but if you have two $500K plus spends at R1 and R2 then you may be a bit too cash heavy in the ruck especially when TBC and Leuey appear to offer such great value.

If no ruckman tonnes up this weekend again there will be huge alarm bells over the impact of the new ruck scoring rules and coaches may have to dump one if they want to remain rank competitive.

    Dingo · 07/04/2015 at 13:12

I agree. Top premium rucks will struggle to avge 100 this year. I have Goldy and Ivan without a ruck swing in Fwd line. Whilst I don't want to panic this early, I think we are all realising the reality of the new ruck scoring rules and what impact this will have. I am thinking of trading either ruck to TBC to gain cash before inevitable price drop and use extra cash to get someone like Wines into my midfield.

Overall Community I don't think the high scores from previous seasons can be achieved this year unless you can trade to have premium to M8 and also include Mid DPP premiums into your Fwd and Def lines where they present themselves.

    @Seekersupacoach · 07/04/2015 at 13:14

So Carla you will pull the trigger on Goldstein this week? I'm in a similar position with Mumford.

      derek · 07/04/2015 at 13:48

I don't think it as bad as everyone think. IMO I don't think there were any of the big ruckmen had a great game. Goldy had 12 possessions, Mummy 13, Jacobs, 12, nic nat 14, Sandilands 13, martin 12. They didn't do much around the ground.

        carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 14:50

That seems to be about the avg poss a ruck gets anyway
What your expecting a ruck to avg 17-20 a game? Unlikely

          Locked and Loaded · 07/04/2015 at 16:52

Wrong Carla go back through the stats and although Supercoach isn't all about the sats and more about effectiveness, when the rucks went HUGE they played well above what they did this weekend. i.e. more hitouts, tackles, goals and possessions don't jump the gun in my opinion and I strongly believe it. If Goldy, Mumford etc hit the 40 hitout mark with 15 touches and some tackles and still struggle to crack the tonne then I'll eat my words but for now no ruckmen lit it up on the weekend just like many others!! So WAIT!

      carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 13:53

Yes I think I will, that generates me more cash going Goldy to Burger then will see how Newnes and Cripps go for another round. If they score Similar next round i will trade Cripps to Wines and Newnes to Smith or Simpson

      Huge upside in doing this

Right now have traded out Rockliff for Lewis and Goldy for Burger. I now have $366 in the bank to bring in 2 premiums

This is pure restructure of my concern over the rucks

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 14:03

Valid concerns, I just can't justify dropping/ using trades to get rid of Mumford or Goldy. Don't think either had solid games and still scored decently. They're still going to average 100+ surely.

      carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 14:06

Time will tell, I agree premium rucks will still ton up but……….
I think rucks are now just as up and down as defenders with this new scoring.
I will take the cash and run

I actually see midfielders getting more of the SC pie now

        bigjanks · 07/04/2015 at 14:24

Goldy scored 100 and his team got belted by 80!

          carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 14:52

Yep that's true but I like the money more than losing 10-15 points per week going Goldy to Burger

Trust me this was never a plan just seeing Rucks as over priced now

People who went thin in the rucks to pop in 1-2 extra premiums in the mid or def have the edge

            Sarah · 08/04/2015 at 07:53

I'm concerned everyone is over-reacting to the round 1 ruck scores. Were they using the new ruck scoring system during the NAB when Mumford scored 100 from about half a game?

        I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 14:52

Hi Carla. It's worth noting that none of the ruckman had high possessions. All relatively low actually. I need to see a bit more before considering a ruck cull. As bigjanks mentioned goldy played in a train wreck. His team mates didn't show up & got spanked. I think your going a bit early. But yes the warning signs are appearing.

          carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 15:01

To tell you the truth Goldy got that 100 because all of North midfielders got smashed! Gotta see the whole pie to know this. Look at the total disposels of the guns at North Melbourne not much at all.
Now look at other games where Midfeilders smashed it, example GWS had 3 go mentle in the midfield with Mummy Dominating all game to score similar.

          I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 16:21

Love the passion Carla. Conversely if the Norf mids had for there hands on the ball first he would have scored more. I do agree this will benefit the mids somewhat & finishing your mid line asap should be a priority. Whilst I think there is merit to your argument pulling the trigger after one round is very risky. I do like your way of thinking. Very strategic. For me I have Thumper & Griffen who are currently on life support. Next week if they don’t perform I’m pulling the plug. Culling rucks if it has to happen can wait a bit.

            carlashirley90 · 07/04/2015 at 17:20

not usually my style but last year I was eaten alive playing safe, so risk is my way this year

              Spider · 07/04/2015 at 17:42

In a very similiar possie Carla with Goldy/Maric in my side. I also have Rocky, so he has to go, but Maric down to Berger/TBC will be given some serious thought this week.

            Sarah · 08/04/2015 at 07:56

I'm with you Pieman, I think all this talk of culling the rucks after 1 game is an over-reaction. I'm going to stick with Goldy and Maric. The trades are worth far more than a little depreciation. I reckon if you have the ruckmen you want already, it's better to just cop any depretiation than to trade them out and back in later.

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 17:09

Great discussion all around on this one.
I'm concerned having Mumford and Goldy as set and forget but I just can't justify using trades to get them out (unless they get injured), regardless of price drop. I think there's few others as reliable to fill their shoes.

    big aggots · 07/04/2015 at 18:00

Love the new rules of scoring with rucks. Lobbe's 174 with 4 possessions last year was ridiculous. Happy to take L'Berger 80-90 / TBC 80-85 and use the money in mids.

      demon · 07/04/2015 at 19:04

agreed aggots, far too many sub 10 possession games were going 100+
This seems more representative of a ruckman's influence on matches

    Tyler · 07/04/2015 at 19:38

Tell you what, I am sooo glad I dropped Maric for Bellchambers in the last hour before lockout. Now I am wondering how long should I keep belch? Apparently his ankle is great, and no other injuries yet!

@Seekersupacoach · 07/04/2015 at 12:55

Rd1 and I had KK, Sheed and Cripps. I feel Cripps will be ok and steadily improve. The other two, oh-boy!!

I also have Mumford who I was expecting to average over 130 for the first four weeks before trading down and reaping rewards. Now I'm thinking of doing that sooner bringing in Nic Nat, Minson or TBC and using the cash on Sheed or KK. I have until Lockout Friday so I won't make a move just on a Tuesday.

My only fear is that not making a corrective trade (or two) this round could lead to having 4 issues to be corrected in Rd2 or Rd3. Anyhow I gotta find time to listen to this podcast and take a few deep breaths.

But I'd love some feedback too.

      Miller CEY Heeny NVB

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 14:00

    No. Cripps will gain value.

    basil · 07/04/2015 at 18:46

The thinking behind it is that Cripps has a break even of 12 and if he scores 50-60 every week well barely go up in value where as vandenberg has a break even of -127 and a rd 6 projected score of $400,000. With the money I save from this trade plus $150k in bank I could easily trade to any premium mid

      judd0 · 07/04/2015 at 20:52

No, MAYBE, next week, MAYBE, only if cripps goes bad and vandemberg goes big again. MAYBE, only if the rest of your team looks solid.

BackyardPunter · 07/04/2015 at 13:26

Goldy 41 hitouts with 15 stoppage clearances SC100. Jacobs 32 hitouts 23 stoppage clearances SC 73. Doesn’t really add up need to find ruckman with a decent skill set or multi Postion potential this year or a goal kicker, hitout totals just won’t stand up. Blicavs played in defence which helped his score, tough gig.

    Jayden · 07/04/2015 at 14:45

It’s more about hit outs to advantage then just getting hit outs

    James · 07/04/2015 at 22:10

Your stats aren’t correct Backyard Punter neither of those two had that many hit outs. Also Gikdy was playing against last years best ruckmen and got 100 I think this ruck thing is being analysed way too much. We will see I guess

      Bog rat · 07/04/2015 at 23:37

I agree with you backyard punter someone like Blicavs needs to seriously looked at as he only has little ruck time

    Tofor · 08/04/2015 at 08:50

Niether player kicked any goals. Goldy had just 10 possessions. Jacobs 13. Mumford 12.

Kel · 07/04/2015 at 13:32

Dusty for walker?

    @t_woof · 07/04/2015 at 13:39

Hell no. Didn't you listen to the podcast? Chasing last week's points with that trade.

Dusty had an awful record v Carlton, you should have been expecting 70-80 at best.

      Kel · 07/04/2015 at 13:55

      true

Kevin · 07/04/2015 at 13:34

Hey guys, should i trade Goddard for someone like Taylor Walker of Jarryd Roughead ?

    Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 14:15

    Listen to the podcast.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 14:18

You should back BJ in a little longer (assuming you don't mean Hugh of course).

It happens every season that a power forward posts a monster score and then plenty of coaches get sucked in the week afterward only to be disappointed by the 70 odd the following week. It happened with Clokey last season and the Hoff the season before.

You've already likely missed Tex's highest score for the season. "But he's an unstoppable force", "the opposition has no answer for him", "he looks quick and lean this season". I've heard it all before tbh.

The Crows collectively will no doubt be improvers this season and could very well play finals but they are nowhere as good as the Roos allowed them to look on the weekend.

So I'd hold your nerve on BJ for now. I'm in the same boat as a Dusty owner but am sticking with the courage of my convictions, at least for one more week ha ha!

    harbl100 · 07/04/2015 at 17:21

As a Dustin Martin and BJ Goddard owner, I must remain zen. I will remind myself that I picked them because I like their Supercoach averages, even if I think they are a pair of flogs in real life.

This is a numbers game, so play the numbers. One of those very important numbers sits just below the title "Trades." If you get no injured players, and your rookies are the ones you need, that number should read "30" at the conclusion of round 2.

      demon · 07/04/2015 at 19:07

BJ wasn't too bad and is a proven performer.
His 2 horrendous clangers in the last qtr where the game was on the line would've dented his score a fair bit

big aggots · 07/04/2015 at 14:08

What do I do with Deledio? Obviously rubbed out this week but looked sore and subbed out. Taylor Adams had it 30 odd times and with Sidebum out, should get plenty of time in the midfield, or bring in Swan?. Thoughts on those trades? Fwd

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 14:42

Personally i'd put him on the pine. Off to a slow start yes but later in the season you will regret it. He will come good. You don't want to trade premiums unless they are injured. You picked him for a reason. Heaps of premos were spuds this weekend.

Charlesy · 07/04/2015 at 14:41

Hi Community, this is only my third SuperCoach season but the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is not to panic trade. Relax and think things through. After round two before the price changes is when to make corrective trades.

bigjanks · 07/04/2015 at 14:47

In regards to the ruck dilema. Sure, you could down grade a premium like Goldy or Maric to a mid priced like Blicavs or Berger. But if you have two premium rucks already, is it worth losing a trade Rd 2 or Rd 3 just to make another trade (so now you've used 2) later in the year? No one wants to go in to the finals with Blicavs or Berger as your Ruck 2. Just stick with what you drafted. Kudos to those who started with the Bergers and Blicavs who can upgrade to the Goldys and Marics in 6 weeks.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 14:57

It's a tough call. If you have other trade priorities I'd just hold tight on your ruck premos for now.

It's more important to ensure you are on the right rookies in the first few weeks and dump any injured players. All other trade concerns are secondary and a luxury in comparison. I was pretty happy with Goldy's performance and output all things considered.

      I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 15:07

Agreed SCA this is rookie correction week. Turfing premos just comes back to bite your ass. I had a great year last year & the main reason was 0 ruck trades. Dumping your premos to middies & getting 2 back later is no good. Minimum 4 trades in the ruck will cause serious pain somewhere later. Suck it up & worry about other players that are clearly underperforming. I don't have a shortage of those but a week is a long time in SC.

        Marco · 07/04/2015 at 17:15

I have Mumford and he is the only one I’m considering downgrading. He was up against billy longer had 36 hit outs and I thought he played great. So I’m eying off downgrading to a mid priced ruck to use mummy’s money elsewhere.

          Brett · 07/04/2015 at 20:09

Think your spot on , is wasn’t like he played a bad game , his tap work set up a cracker goal …. how many tackles did he have ? Considering it was a good game , i can’t see him averaging over 105 … same predicament, can the cash be better spent initially ! Nic nat is my other ruck and i have a dpp as a swing with bellchambers fwd as ruck coverage ! Perhaps its smarter to get a premium ruck later down the track

          James · 07/04/2015 at 22:14

No tackles only 3 marks and 12 disposals and one behind. His stats weren’t huge hence score wasn’t huge. Hold him premium rucks will be a POD at this rate

    Tofor · 07/04/2015 at 17:11

All good points. Agreed with all you guys.
This coming from a guy with Goldy and Mumford on deck…
Concerned, but I just can't drop them.

    Tofor · 08/04/2015 at 08:53

I don't think many of the big rucks had great games… Goldy had just 10 possessions. Jacobs 13. Mumford 12. None of them kicked a goal. Goldy still scraped in for 100 and Mumford was close. I feel like it was a 'lower score' for both of those players…

Seb · 07/04/2015 at 15:01

Let's use Dustin Martin as an example.
Say it's round 14 and Dusty is averaging 100. Come round 15 and he scores 51(like he did round 1), would you trade him out? No you wouldn't

So look at it this way. If your player scored low this round(e.g. Dusty, Griffen, Newnes etc.), would you trade them out half way through the season while they're averaging 100+ points?
If the answers yes, then trade them.
If the answers no, then keep them.

    Sarah · 07/04/2015 at 15:39

Exactly!! And the good thing about the bad score being in round 1 is that it will only effect their price for 1 round… or bad thing if you don't have them and actually want them to go down in price!!
No trading for me this round.

marcusbontempelli · 07/04/2015 at 15:12

should i do dusty to bont, and cripps to rich?

    Rick · 07/04/2015 at 15:18

    No No No.

derek · 07/04/2015 at 16:10

there is a lot of discussion regards the midfield and rucks, but not a lot of discussion about the defence. this is where you will lose a lot of points but no-one seems to be worried

What did people think of Goode's effort. I don't have him as I don't think he will get many games.

    SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 16:35

I thought he played his role on the weekend and his JS is probably ok in the short term. Those who have him would probably be fairly satisfied with what they've seen thus far.

Nonetheless I would still wait at least one more week before bringing him in, if you don't currently have him, just in case he gets dropped in the next fortnight or should even better options avail themselves.

Certainly looked much better than Jaksch who is similarly priced although I think the Blues defender still has the better JS of the two if I was to hazard a guess.

    Kev · 07/04/2015 at 16:56

Admit to not following the dogs all that closely, but who would be putting Goodes' js under threat? He has potential to do a lot better than 68, but using 5034 as the "magic number" that's 20 more than he is priced to average.

Smash and grab player for me, hopefully he can make me a quick and dirty 100k. If he falls out of favour I'll be moving him on

      SCaddict · 07/04/2015 at 19:17

Sorry didn't mean to imply it was under imminent threat only not as strong as Jaksch's. The Blues went out of their way to acquire him so Mick must have plans building a defence around the youngster. The reality is that Goodesy is 31 and a couple of poor games and the Doggies may decide to play a kid instead such as a Hamling. But it's his spot to lose right now I reckon.

Agree that Goodesy is not a keeper so we just need 6 or 7 decent games out of him when we can look to upgrade to a fallen premo or cash out for the next must have bubble boy.

    big aggots · 07/04/2015 at 17:05

Everyone will have similar defenders by the years end. Lean pickings this year. I'm leaving Goodes alone though as he's a candidate for a run with role with Libba out and Wallis looking to play more attacking role.

BigKahunas · 07/04/2015 at 17:14

Thoughts on Andrew Swallow jock. I've got him and Ryan Griffin give them both one week to prove themselves? Or move on one this week to Vandenburg?

    I N Pieman · 07/04/2015 at 17:38

One way or another I think you need Vanders. Moving on 2 premos is fraught with danger. Kangas are licking their wounds. They will fire up & bounce back. Griffen i'm not sure.

    Spifflicator · 07/04/2015 at 19:41

You can't read anything into a Nth Melbourne players scores as they were pole axed. We will get a better read this week. Griffins is more of a worry especially as Viney is a good chance to tag him this weekend.

    @TheNoLanguage · 07/04/2015 at 22:29

Don't pull the trigger on Swallow. He is underpriced at 500k and I'm still confident he will average over 100. Griffen is more of a worry but I'm holding for another week, could destroy Melbourne.

Donavan · 07/04/2015 at 17:29

Sick of all the pessimism regarding under performing premo's and mid-pricers. Should this trend continue for the next 3-4 weeks this game will be easier.

Good performing rookies will fatten-up, and possibly at the same time some premo's will have their SC prices fall, maying upgrading to a full premo side a little faster than normal.

So, take the positives out of this week, and hope it happens again.

Those that don't panic trade will reap big rewards.

Community
Should I hold onto Ivan Maric or trade down to Tom Balchambers and wait for price rise?
Should pocket some cash

Cheers

    Favalinko u Beauty · 08/04/2015 at 12:34

Been thinking the same way but after have come to the conclusion that if I trade down and use the cash to upgrade, then if Bells goes down with injury, I will not have enough cash to replace my ruck. Big risk. I don't think Ivan will drop to much in cash, so I will be holding

Luke · 07/04/2015 at 19:33

JOCK,

Food for thought for you! Take the risk on ablett

2. Bring in text or the bont freeing up $300 and getting a fwd keeper, then upgrade IBBO 2 Brodie smith giving you 2 season keepers and about $170,000 in the bank. Beats the price rise on both, ablett will have a game where he scores 60 – 80 and he will plummet to mid 500s then trade him back

Also, ablett score is massively inflated due to 2 well timed goals, minus that he would have scored 80 to 90

Tyler · 07/04/2015 at 19:47

Is it that bad to be thinking about not trading in Gaz… at all? I think he will be lucky to be top 5 scorers come season end. Unless he says specifically that his shoulder is 100% and that he doesn't have to be managed anymore, I will not have bring him in. Just imagine you trade him in over the bye rounds for him to continue having mediocre games and only getting around 100. I don't think I would be able to handle that

marcus · 07/04/2015 at 20:24

should i keep dustin martin? i wanted to have jobe watson all preseason, is he a good option to trade to?

    Bluetackle · 07/04/2015 at 21:55

Yes hold and jobe could be a good after bye target once back to full match fitness

Donavan · 07/04/2015 at 20:42

Here's a different take on Ablett.

He had literally no contact in the pre-season, round one was basically his fitness test. Did he pass the fitness test? I say he did to play, but should have been rested forward for a greater part of the game, and used sparingly in the middle.

Do you think Rodney Eade knows how important Ablett is to the team, and to Eades success? Big Yes, given Bluey McKenna lost his job and Suns failed to make finals after Abletts injury last season.

So given his importance to the team, I sure Eade is not going to risk Ablett if there is a chance of wrecking the shoulder. Ablett is either sore and tenitive about his shoulder, but good to go, or will spend more time off the ball.

I say given Ablett was used on the ball for 3/4 of the game on Saturday, his shoulder is sound but sore, and Abletts confidence in the shoulder will grow with every game, as the soreness reduces.

Ablett should be kept by those that have him, and at the top of the watch list for those that don't have him.

    Bluetackle · 07/04/2015 at 21:45

Here here ill second that just watch him bang out a 150+ score against sainters and muffle all those ney sayers

      Tulendeena · 07/04/2015 at 21:49

I'm expecting about 90-100 this week

      Definitely holding though

        Bluetackle · 07/04/2015 at 21:52

I like to stay positive otherwise to easy to do your head in worrying
Even with one arm he was still my third highest scorer this week
If anyone can do it gaz can

3. votes · 07/04/2015 at 21:53

I have 3 mid price defenders-
Garrick Ibbotson
Harry Lumumba
Brett Goodes
any keepers among them? if I was to get rid of one who would it be?

    Bluetackle · 07/04/2015 at 21:54

No reason to trade week one other than injury affected players i say hold

Bog rat · 08/04/2015 at 00:02

With all the comments about the little master & his shoulder I couldn't give a stuff he he pumps out a few scores of 50 in the next few weeks, come seasons end he'll be be right up there in the top 10 in the midfield rankings, i don't really care if he drops $100,000 – $150,000 of him, I'd pay that for a trade come finals time.

terry · 08/04/2015 at 20:47

only got 1900. disappointed.

Thoughts on wells. I thought he would go up.?
Also Hibberd and Ibbotson
Thinking trade trade trade

Ian · 09/04/2015 at 00:03

Hey Guys,
Just looking at the fixture this weekend. It seems all my potential captain loophole players are on at the same time sat night. I’m leaning toward Wines for the big C but just thought I’d make sure I’m not losing my mind first. I’ve also got Gray, GAJ, JPK and Parker to pick from.
Cheers

cam · 09/04/2015 at 00:52

most likely one of the most simple questions but yet could be pivotal through season
TBC or Luenberger
cheers
