Round 1 Supercoach Scouting Report

Published by Barron Von Crow on

Barron Von Crow - inner sanctum

Footy’s back! I’ve been so bloody excited it’s Round 1 I often find myself running around the house, wooing like Ric Flair because I’m so happy that the football has returned to us.

Pre-season felt like it was never going to end, but we got through it all and here we are with the real stuff ready to be played. Howdy folks, Barron Von Crow here and I am extremely excited to be bringing you our first Supercoach Scouting Report for 2015!

For those of you who are new to Supercoach (or new to the Jock Reynolds Community…what took you so long?!), the idea here is simple: I look at the historical scores and averages when the teams play each other and see if we can use that information to determine who the best picks are for our Supercoach Captains.

But we’re always looking to get bigger and better here at Jock Reynolds, so we’ve included a few extra little pieces for 2015.

First up, you’ll now see the following symbols scattered about for each game, which can be broken down to the following.

Hot and Cold

Simple, yes?  This will provide information on who’s hot and who’s not in Supercoach over the past few games and will hopefully allow us to better pick our squads and our Captains.

Also, with the introduction of the Perfect 9 game, I’ll also be giving you my weekly pick there. For those of you unfamiliar with the new Perfect 9 game, it’s simple. All you need to do is pick which player you think will score the most points for each game. Nail all 9 games and you win a big cash prize!

And as always, remember to look out for the red and green Supercoach scores, RED = bad, GREEN = good which may help you out when it comes to picking your captains for the week.

The good news for Round 1 and Tom Read owners if because the Hawks VS Geelong clash is on the Monday, that’ll leave us quite a few games to sit on the VC loophole option, so we should be able to pick a winner this week.

Alright, let’s get going!

Last time they met: Round 2, 2014: Carlton LOST TO Richmond 86-98

Key scores: Marc Murphy 121, Matt Thomas/Robert Warnock 118, Chris Yarran/Dustin Martin 108, Shaun Hampson 107.

HotDustin Martin is in fine form heading into Round 1, with a NAB Challenge average of 130 Supercoach Points. He’ll need it however; as Carlton is the side he averages the lowest amount of Supercoach Points against.

coldAfter setting Supercoach on fire in Round 1 last year, Matt Thomas failed to play a single NAB Challenge game for the Tigers and remains on the rookie list.

captainCaptain Pick(s): First game of the year and it’s probably not the best one historically for picking your Supercoach Captain from. Judd has the career runs on the board against the Tigers, but hasn’t set them on fire in recent years. Martin has usually struggled against the Blues, so that probably leaves Murphy or Deledio as the picks here.

 Perfect 9 Pick: Chris Judd

Key scores: Gary Ablett 161, Nathan Jones 140, Chris Dawes 110, Greg Broughton 108

HotIt looks like Melbourne is agreeing with Heritier Lumumba, who averaged 120 Supercoach Points over the NAB Challenge.

coldOnly 1 Gold Coast Suns player averaged over 100 Supercoach Points in the NAB Challenge, which was Harley Bennell with an average of 104 Supercoach Points.

@ MCG Averages: 114.0 Supercoach Points, High Score of 193

captainCaptain Pick(s):  It all depends on Ablett and what condition he’s in, and despite 2 big games out of his last 3 against Melbourne; he has his 3rd lowest career average against the Dee’s. Rumours abound that Ablett will be subbed out during the game, a move which would make some sense, so if you find yourself with a dearth of other options you could put the VC on Ablett, though I’d likely skip him as Captain this week. You also couldn’t be blamed if you decided to slap a VC on Harley Bennell, who hasn’t had any troubles racking up quality scores against the Demons in recent games. Nathan Jones is always a quality option and put up a very good score last time these two played as well.

 Perfect 9 Pick: Nathan Jones

Last time they met: Round 19, 2014: Sydney DEFEATED Essendon 79-57

Key scores: Mike Pyke 134, Ben McGlynn 130, Luke Parker 129, Michael Hurley 124

HotLuke Parker and Josh P Kennedy are looking like they’ll be neck and neck in Supercoach this year, both players averaging 114 Supercoach Points over the NAB Challenge.

coldThe entire Essendon team struggled to score points in the NAB Challenge, with the highest averages being 89 from Brendon Goddard and James Gwilt.  Shouldn’t be as much of a problem now that the real players are back.

@ ANZ Stadium Averages: 126.5 Supercoach Points, High Score of 131

captainCaptain Pick(s):  Franklin averages a massive 127 Supercoach Points against the Bombers and could be an excellent VC pick to use this week, although he’s never even scored a ton in the 4 career games he’s played at ANZ Stadium, which could be a bit worrisome. I might hold off on hitting any Essendon players with a VC/C as the majority sat out the NAB pre-season games, so they might take some time to heat peak form. JPK is another rock solid option to look at as well.

captainCaptain Pick(s):  Very interesting game to pick from, there is a lot of quality on offer here, with a number of Lions players putting up massive scores last time these two teams met. Dayne Beams very first AFL game for the Lions will be against his old side in Collingwood, though in his 3 games at the Gabba, Beams has a high score of 103 and an average of 72. I think most will look at Pendlebury here for the VC, which you certainly can’t argue against, and there’s even a chance someone like Swan, Rockliff, Beams or Zorko get off the chain too.

captainCaptain Pick(s):  Last time these two teams played Mumford tuned up the young Saints ruckmen to the tune of 46 hitouts and 158 Supercoach Points. Reckon he has a massive chance to put up that kind of score again, so if you have him in your side, I wouldn’t be hesitating to take advantage of him this week. I could also imagine a mid like Griffen or Ward getting one up on the young Saints midfield as well, so they could be VC candidates for you too.

captainCaptain Pick(s): Waite and/or Petrie look to potentially be the smokie picks here. With the retirement of Ben Rutten the Crows have struggled in the pre-season with the 2nd tall forward. In the pre-season games Talia stood on the likes of Petrie, Hawkins and Schulz and had 4 goals kicked on him by those 3 players while the Kyle Hartigan/Kyle Cheney combo took on Waite, Clark and Butcher and had 14 goals kicked on them, so there’s a potential for someone to kick a bag here and score some big points. Probably only worth a shot if you want to take a big chance however, otherwise you could slot in the likes of Sloane, Dangerfield, Dal Santo or Swallow. Jacobs and Goldstein tend to battle to a draw in this sort of games, they’re both good enough that neither one can gain a real advantage over the other.

HotNathan Fyfe averaged 134 Supercoach Points off of only an average of 76% TOG during his 2 NAB Challenge games. He looks to be in prime form heading into Round 1.

coldNot much NAB Challenge action from Michael Barlow, who only played in Freo’s first game, scoring 48 Supercoach Points off of 84% TOG.

captainCaptain Pick(s):  I’m sure Boak will be happy to see Crowley not out on the field, with the tagger restricting him massively over their last few games, though he could have a De Boer or Pearce headed his way. It’ll be double good news for owners of Robbie Gray too, who has put up some good scores against Freo. The man to pick however is Nathan Fyfe who scored a massive 156 Supercoach Points in the Dockers Semi Final loss to the Power in the Finals last year the last time these teams faced each other. If you don’t have Fyfe, then Gray is a nice backup option to consider.

 Perfect 9 Pick: Nathan Fyfe

captainCaptain Pick(s):  The Cats have done a decent effort in recent games in keeping some of the Hawks players from getting off the chain. Selwood looks to be the biggest pick here, a score of 151 in their Finals game last year. He’ll hopefully bust out of the gates with another terrific score like that, rather than the anaemic scores of 90 and 83 he put up last year.

 Perfect 9 Pick: Joel Selwood

Although I do have Ablett, I’ll be skipping him for Round 1 and going with Pendlebury as my VC and Nathan Fyfe as my Captain.

And that’s it for Round 1! Hopefully we’ve helped you pick a great Captain pick for this week and your Supercoach Season starts off with a bang!

will we still have 30 trades after the lockout?

    FootyFanatic · 02/04/2015 at 18:05

      John · 02/04/2015 at 19:03

      Don't we still have unlimited?

Great read thanks mate,
And just wondering do you know when the subs in each game are announced

    @BarronVonCrow · 02/04/2015 at 18:07

Usually a couple of hours before each game.

      Sean · 02/04/2015 at 18:09

Thanks just not sure whether to whack macintosh on field or not

    Shake n bake · 02/04/2015 at 18:11

Smith sub for blues Gordon for tigers

tom · 02/04/2015 at 17:55

Best mid under 585k?

    Sully321 · 02/04/2015 at 18:05

    Parker or Dangerfield IMO

    Bobby · 02/04/2015 at 18:15

    Tony · 03/04/2015 at 00:13

Get another $3k and grab Lewis.

Cudi · 02/04/2015 at 17:59

Absolute Boss Baron good ish mate,
Also from a fellow crow, how can we expect hendo to travel this year?
Im starting to get nervous….

    @BarronVonCrow · 02/04/2015 at 18:07

I reckon he should be OK. Looked solid against Port, hopefully he can continue to build on that if he's named for Round 1.

Sully321 · 02/04/2015 at 18:05

Thoughts on thumper (Kolodjashnij)

    @BarronVonCrow · 02/04/2015 at 18:08

In my team. Hoping he can average a solid 85 for the year.

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 21:51

Looked good pre-season. Not massive ceiling but should be steady points I reckon. Got the tank to run the wing all day. He's in the mix for me…. i'm being swayed by potential fools gold in Higgins & Lumumba

SCaddict · 02/04/2015 at 18:09

Clem Smith cops the vest tonight so that rules him out from any consideration for me particularly with Heeney, Vandenberg and Miller now likely to play.

No last minute call up for Lambert either as some were hoping or expecting so I'll be looking elsewhere for my forward bench too.

Phil · 02/04/2015 at 18:09

Great stuff Baron appreciate the effort that must have went into this pulling up some of those stats….
I'm signed up for Perfect 9 this year so this article should come in handy

    @BarronVonCrow · 02/04/2015 at 18:19

Yea, it's an fun little addition to do each week, isn't it.

Sean · 02/04/2015 at 18:10

Thumper heart or henderson

    Sean · 02/04/2015 at 18:11

Sorry was meant to be geary not heart

    SCaddict · 02/04/2015 at 18:13

All really excellent speculative midpricers but I likely Geary and Ibbo the best in the $300-400K defender category myself.

Dools · 02/04/2015 at 18:12

Nice break down my man.. Thank you for all your efforts for the community this year. See you in Jock Leagues mate

dean · 02/04/2015 at 18:14

What do people think about Wallis as a M5?

    SCaddict · 02/04/2015 at 18:21

A little risky even for a midpricer. Prefer the proven premium ceiling of a Wells at that price range for mine.

Bobby · 02/04/2015 at 18:15

thoughts on smith or should i change for someone else?

Max · 02/04/2015 at 18:23

Lamb or Lonie

    marcus · 02/04/2015 at 18:28

    im going lamb

    Borko · 03/04/2015 at 23:45

marcus · 02/04/2015 at 18:26

bontempelli vs bellchambers ????

    Tulendeena · 02/04/2015 at 22:30

the bont may be a keeper

but Bellchambers is ruck cover and cash generation, so TBC for me

    TOPHAWK1 · 03/04/2015 at 21:07

Bellchambers. As long as he plays in your forward line. With his ruc/forward dual position option, he can cover your rucs should one get injured/suspended or dropped. Remember, you only have one ruc bench this season. Peace of mind having Bellchambers as back up is super important IMO. He is in my team.
Bontempelli is a gun player, but there is a lot of speculation he will get tagged this season, thus potentially impacting his scoring ability.

should we keep kane lambert in?

    marcus · 02/04/2015 at 18:28

    yeah i think so

    TOPHAWK1 · 03/04/2015 at 21:14

I had him until he was not named for the Tigers against Carlton. I need my benchplayers on the park and generating cash. You cannot have idle players on your bench IMO. Replaced Lambert with Tom Lamb. If Lambert is named in the next few weeks, I can watch him for another 2 weeks (before his price rise) and then use one trade to get him in if he performs.

Mid: gaj fyfe selwood Lewis griffen Cripps heeney ell yolman. Anderson lambert miller
Ruck: goldy nicnat. O’Reilly
Fwd: gray Bartel Martin Salem Clark hogan. Lonie lamb

    TOPHAWK1 · 03/04/2015 at 21:31

    Good side.
Bit concerned about Ablett. That shoulder injury he copped last season was very serious. No NAB Challenge appearances but was named to play against the Dees. (He might play forward pocket to ease him back in) Despite being an absolute champion and he is ALWAYS in my team, I left him out in favour for Tom Rockliff for the start of this season. Rockliff is 100% fit and will be my captain this week. If you pick Ablett I assume you would likely make him captain. If he is underdone and his score is down you will cop a "double whammy" by your captain score being hammered as well. Just playing the percentages. If he does kick arse, he will be back in my side in no time, hopefully slightly cheaper!

Lastly, guys to look at are Tom Bellchambers (Forward as a ruc back up), and Vandenberg (Rookie midfielder)

    marcus · 02/04/2015 at 18:38

    boak, parker

      Motsy · 02/04/2015 at 18:39

      Parker, Sloane

    TOPHAWK1 · 03/04/2015 at 20:53

Sloane. Super consistent and scored 100+ SC points in most games played in 2014

jimbo · 02/04/2015 at 18:38

    Motsy · 02/04/2015 at 18:39

It's not urgent, neither are playing tonight.

    Ibbo for me.

    TOPHAWK1 · 03/04/2015 at 20:55

Ibbotson. He will have excellent job security at Freo. (Doubts over the fitness over some of the other freo defenders)

Motsy · 02/04/2015 at 18:39

Is it too risky to put TBC in R2 with no cover?

If I abuse a swingset with this it essentially allows me to turn Anderson in to Dangerfield by turning Minson in to TBC and dropping 70k from the warchest. It feels so right, but so wrong.

    Tony · 02/04/2015 at 23:23

I think it's right. Just looking at the ruck scores tonight, I think the scoring gap between premos and 2nd tier rucks will narrow. I swapped Maric to TBC last night and was able to bring Judd in as M6.

Mac · 02/04/2015 at 18:39

Who do I start on field

Saad or McIntosh
Miller, Vandenberg, Heeney?

    Cyril is Delicious · 02/04/2015 at 18:54

McIntosh and Heeney, they are who I’ve gone with

    Emile · 02/04/2015 at 19:00

    harbl100 · 02/04/2015 at 19:05

oxley, he's listed to play, hamling is not. that's what i'm doing anyway.

    Leon · 02/04/2015 at 19:07

Oxley, named on field and will get a lot of action down back for pies

      Nato · 02/04/2015 at 19:12

Brown or hamling? Ive already got oxley

Luviboy1 · 02/04/2015 at 19:01

Final thoughts on Juddy? Currently have Scooter Selwood instead of him. 20 minutes to go already doubting the selection >_<

    Leon · 02/04/2015 at 19:07

judd, cross your fingers but both have injury history

      Luviboy1 · 02/04/2015 at 19:09

Mate I have everything crossed at the moment.

    Northerner · 03/04/2015 at 07:27

Scott Selwood could be reasonable m8 and definitely value if over injury. Looked like he is from nab 3. POD as well. Like it.

Mac · 02/04/2015 at 19:05

Thomas Downie named on extended bench…

Leon · 02/04/2015 at 19:06

one question people…. lids or martin, 14 mins left

    Luviboy1 · 02/04/2015 at 19:07

More people have Martin than Lids. Martin might be a safer option, but Lids is a slight POD.

harbl100 · 02/04/2015 at 19:08

stick with lambert (richmond) or drop him for Lamb (eagles) ?

    Luviboy1 · 02/04/2015 at 19:11

Im sticking with Lambert, Im convinced hes gonna make good cashola. Go with your gut!

      harbl100 · 02/04/2015 at 19:13

thanks mate, just needed a little reassurance to stick with him!

Northernsoul74 · 02/04/2015 at 19:12

Starting to question Goodes job security.

    keenbutclueless · 02/04/2015 at 19:30

I reckon you are right. So may teams posted on here had him at D4 or D5. Their worst fears may come true – the best alternative might turn out to be Gary Rohan!!

      Derek · 02/04/2015 at 19:46

      Or Zac Dawson

        Northernsoul74 · 02/04/2015 at 19:48

Biggs, Hrovat, Hamling, Darley, Clay Smith, Caleb Daniel are all players they will want to get games into soon enough.

    Dean · 02/04/2015 at 20:43

Goodes has been named, at this stage I wouldn't be stressing im sure he will play…

Dean · 02/04/2015 at 19:24

Are we still able to change our players around each round prior to each game starting?

In round 1 can we trade in/out players who haven't played yet without wasting trades?

    Tulendeena · 02/04/2015 at 22:32

yes, it will not count towards your 30

Donavan · 02/04/2015 at 19:41

Looking for a mid & defensive rookie (totalling under $242,500 and likely to play.

I already have-
Def – McIntosh, Saad & Oxley
Fwd – Salem, Clark, Saad, Lamb

Appreciate your help, thanks.

    keenbutclueless · 02/04/2015 at 19:48

Based on who has been named for round 1, I don't think it is possible. the only other cheap def named is Brown at 146,900. Which means, even if you select him, you will need to find some cash elsewhere.

      FearTheBeard · 02/04/2015 at 20:05

On that note is it a better move trading Goodes out for Brown now and putting 100k in the bank based on the fact Goodes is benched?

    Northerner · 03/04/2015 at 08:33

Jed Bews. Also beauty is he’s last game, so good fallback.

Trade him. If there was any chance of him being picked, this round was it. I reckon he will be a potential downgrade later on. I think that the Pies might be looking to get some VFL games into him before picking him.

Dools · 02/04/2015 at 21:50

Dusty Martin 46% – 52% DE – Played well where? He was In defence for one play The rest of the time I was looking at me D5 MCINTOSH …. NAB rising star This Round!!! Broke 100 with 3 mins left.
The Blues are poor 3 players can play at this level – Gibbs , Simpson and Judd.

    dognino · 02/04/2015 at 22:01

Had Macca at D6, given me inspiration to downgrade Goodes who was at 5 , and run two rookies on field. I reckon Macca has cemented his spot in that team with his game tonight.

      Spifflicator · 02/04/2015 at 22:29

Will you run Oxley or Brown on the field, or Saad if he avoids the snot vest? They are the only 3 choices aren't they?

        dognino · 02/04/2015 at 22:38

I was thinking saad on field. Depends whether he avoids the vest. Otherwise brown, just because of his nab scores. First couple of weeks will be tough getting the right rookie on field I guess

    @Linca_HotTiges · 03/04/2015 at 00:37

Gibbs? really? thought he was rather ordinary..

Matt · 02/04/2015 at 22:03

Mcintosh with 3 brownlow votes and MOTM on debut. Not too shabby. Glad he was on field for moi

Dools · 02/04/2015 at 22:13

Very impressed with 2 tigers – Vlastuin and Ex Geelong player T. Hunt …. Now I'm upset for no sticking with Valstuin so much for a tagging role eh?

    Derek · 02/04/2015 at 22:29

All this weekend we will be cursing players we took out of out teams. I’m sure I had every player go through my team during the preseason

Daisy might have been that at one stage

      dognino · 02/04/2015 at 22:39

Had docherty in my backline for a while, 140+ woulda been nice

Donavan · 02/04/2015 at 22:18

Forward-line decision – Hogan or Saad (StK)

Hype is all about Hogan – but his a KPP
Saad is named on ground – and we know he can play.

    demon · 02/04/2015 at 23:11

saad only averaged 47 and 58 in his previous two years
hogan for me, better JS and I think he can average over 60

CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 22:21

So slight problem already, I had macca on the bench as E, how do i get his score now?

Backline is simpson, shaw, newnes, higgins, hunt, goodes ( macca, saad)

I am contemplating a goodes out or moving saad to the middle grabbing hamling (or none playing rookie early rookie) or am i chasing points that i cant get back?

    Donavan · 02/04/2015 at 22:38

The only way to get his score would be to trade one of your defenders that hasnt played to a non-playing player, then put that player on the field, as your entire back-line look like getting a game this week.

      Donavan · 02/04/2015 at 22:41

2nd thoughts, what I would do is this-

Bring Hugh Goddard (St.k) into your forward-line, then swing Goddard & Higgins. So you get Goddards zero points in defence, keep Higgin's score in the forward-line, and create the Fwd/Def swing.

By the way, good pick with Hunt in defence.

        CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 23:13

Tough call to bring in Goddard, just not sure on his output…possible though!

Yes happy with hunts call, i figured he came from a good stock at geelong and will play a different role at tigers, so happy with it!

    Dools · 02/04/2015 at 22:38

    G'day Cash
Goodes is named on the extended bench but I think he will play, so choose Dools, well my head says Higgo mate Get that flogg out.
Which Hunt Mate Taylor??? Looked the goods tonight mate. Get SAAD on the playing field he is Rockets little pocket mate will play extended time I think.
Put a player (your choice) on the bench. Do not select him as an emergency. Default Sub score will go to your emergency (In this case Macca) you get 115 SC points …

      CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 23:16

Yeh happy with Thunt tonight, think he should at least avg 75-80 all yr so was going to be a keeper even at D6! I have been weary with higgo for a while and he burnt me last yr, but again new team, new role…similar thoughts to Hunt

    Derek · 02/04/2015 at 22:39

Nice you had Hunt on field.

Only way is to have a donut on the field. Is it worth it?

You could look at putting Godard in Fwd, and swing him to defence and play Higgins fwd.

Goddard won’t be far away from a game

      CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 23:16

Hmm could be a go, just not sure on goddards output

    dognino · 02/04/2015 at 22:40

No point picking a donut to chase scores, cash generation is more important

      CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 23:20

Think this could be the answer!

    Spifflicator · 02/04/2015 at 22:42

Don't stuff your team by chasing that 115. However, given you run to D6 trading down either Goodes or Higgins to another rookie who is likely to play early isn't a bad idea. Hamling is the only option I can see, but will he play in the next few weeks?

      CashCows · 02/04/2015 at 23:18

This was always going to be my plan with D, i stuffed around last yr with possible donuts and jed bews..and that melb fella georgio,

I wanted a reasonable output from all D1-6, with as little headaches as possible..Hamling could play..but..maybe I am answering my own question and should leave it and deal with it

        Dean · 02/04/2015 at 23:31

CashCows gr8 choice with Hunt, did you have Cripps in your side?

          CashCows · 03/04/2015 at 01:06

Yes definitely had to run cripps! It was close between him sheed and newton, wasn't convinced with newton, but sheed could be a cracker!

    hot dogs · 04/04/2015 at 18:21

    Are you for real??????????

Who wastes a trade later on for a round one score????????????

For all you know Saad could outscore Kmac and then youve wasted a trade……

LOL people chasing LAST weeks points is bad enough but chasing YESTERDAYS points??????????

Thats a new one a a mega waste of a trade which is worth either a 50 point weekly avge upgrade from a rookie or 200K!!!!!

Goodluck selecting a donut for just 1 score and then having a non playing bench player- ridiculous!!!!!

      CashCows · 04/04/2015 at 22:33

      hot dog with the works…nice!

Thanks for the advice man, i knew this was the answer but just wondered if there was someway i could make it work for me, and I wouldn't be wasting a trade (no trades are counted this weekend) so long as the incoming player was actually playing and generating money..

Locked and Loaded · 02/04/2015 at 22:33

Is it just me or was mMaric's game tonight effected by the new ruck scoring system? Had 33 HO 13 touches. The answer may be due to his ineffective hitouts but if thats a sign of things to come I may save some cash with the big blokes this year. Thoughts?

    Spifflicator · 02/04/2015 at 22:51

Apart from hit outs his stats were 8 kicks 5 hand passes 4 marks and 4 tackles, or about 60pts (could be a few more or less). Meaning the other 22 came from hitouts which is about 11 down on last year (based on the number of hit outs). His possession count could be better, and will need to be if he is going to average over 95.

    Keg · 02/04/2015 at 23:02

    I agonised over 2 selections:

    Maric vs Nic nat and

    Martin vs Bartel

I know it’s early doors but I can’t say I’m overly happy with my decisions at the moment!!

      Dools · 02/04/2015 at 23:10

LOL that is pure Gold mate….
Why?? I am not having a go but you have had a Poor start…This is not the end Keg , this is just the 1st step in a marathon…Stumble yes, but this is a defining moment for you mate. Stick to your guns and Gut calls or throw a Tanty???
I had Cripps 211K for 51 SC points ….Hold Fast buddy hold Fast

        Locked and Loaded · 02/04/2015 at 23:19

Stick with it mate we are only one game in I had Rance up until last 30 seconds before lockout comes out with 100+ gurantee you that won't happen every week. Guys bit of help here Hibbo & Ibbo LOL OR Taylor and Higgins??

          Matt · 02/04/2015 at 23:21

Hibbo and Ibbo is more secure than the latter. Im not confiedent in the Burn man…..

            Locked and Loaded · 02/04/2015 at 23:23

Cheers mate hopefully Ibbo can play a full season hopeful keeper

        Keg · 02/04/2015 at 23:20

        Thanks mate,

I know it’s a marathon, and I still have faith. After a start like this, faith may be all I have!! 🙂

Now watch Bartel and Nic nat go out and kill it this weekend! Lol

Zac · 02/04/2015 at 23:13

have mcintosh as emergency, what should i do?

    Matt · 02/04/2015 at 23:20

Call it a day. Head to bed. And be glad you picked him in the first place 😉

    Dools · 02/04/2015 at 23:26

Zac take your time and think this through mate…You have 30 plus hours before the next game have a read of the comments above

    @Linca_HotTiges · 03/04/2015 at 00:35

could put a non playing rook on field.. but yeah call it a night lol

    Trevor · 03/04/2015 at 19:00

bring a non playing backman such as Hugh Goddard or S Edwards from Essendon . You will get Mcintoshes 120 points and your non playing backman may play in the next week or two

Stevo · 02/04/2015 at 23:24

Everyones thoughts on Neale as an upgrade target to Gaj?

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 10:39

I expect Neale to make some cash and good points, and personally can't see Ablett not dropping in price.

It's what I'm doing. Keeping decent chunk in the warchest though to hopefully be able to make the move without being forced into culling a cash-cow early.

      Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 14:57

Ablett is likely to be subbed out in the first few games so, he probably will drop quite a bit.

Dean · 03/04/2015 at 00:04

Granted its just one game but after seeing McIntosh tonight, in defence I decided to go back to a fairly light defence in:
Shaw, Jaensch, Newnes, Goods, McIntosh, Saad (Oxley, Hamling)

Doing this allowed me to fill my midfield with 6 GUNS such as: Pendles, Fyfe, Beams, JPK, Lewis, Griffen

It could end up biting me on the Ar$e big time but, I have more faith in my midfield scoring tons every week, rather then a lottery in defence.

    Ben · 03/04/2015 at 07:44

I’m running a very similar set up with so many questions down back (I have one different defender), I’ve decided to go top heavy in the mids.

Time will tell if it’s a good move but you need to back it in!

      Derek · 03/04/2015 at 14:46

I’m not messing around in defence.

Simpson, shaw, newnes, KK, ibbotson, Macintosh, (Saad, Oxley).

      Goodes will burn everyone!

2 on field rookies will be a big mistake.

Solid defence won’t win SuperCoach, but a weak one will lose it.

        Dean · 03/04/2015 at 17:13

I understand what you and Jambo are saying as that was my initial thoughts also.
In the past the defence premo's always end up scoring inconsistently, especially this year as we have very few gun midfielders in defence as opposed to previous years when we could select Bartel, Heppel, Hanley, Goddard and all of these had DPP's but this year we don't have that luxury.

THE GREAT MAN JOCK's STRATEGY and I quote:
"I refuse to load my defense to D5. I’m dead set certain that too many are trying to go too deep back there with blokes they’ve conned themselves into thinking can get the job done. I don’t want to be stuck with a basket of overpriced under performing crap defensive bloody lemons.

I want to be in a position where I can pick off the quality defensive options as they emerge in the lead up to the byes. I need Ibbotson or Goodes to provide me reasonable early output – and critically – I’ll be looking at using at least one of those blokes along with a rookie as a stepping stone to the defensive options that put their hand up as the season progresses."
        END QUOTE

What Jock said is so true. That's why this season im thinking by having a more solid midfield by selecting Elite premiums such as: Pendles, Fyfe, Beams, JPK, Lewis, Griffen or who ever you like, these players have significantly less risk of scoring inconsistently compared to our defence selections.
This way I can upgrade my defence after seeing there output, and should save me upgrading a extra midfielder come mid season.

Good luck to all which ever way you chose to go.

    Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 14:58

I disagree, the midfield is the hardest to lock down throughout the season. It will be to your advantage. Good luck this season.

Brett · 03/04/2015 at 00:55

And we are off !!!

Great to have footy back lads…just seeking some advice , not sure with the new scoring structure for rucks , whether to lighten up the stocks and take another defender … any advice !

    Brett · 03/04/2015 at 00:58

Rich downgrade and upgrade goodes potentially?

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 14:49

    Put Bellchambers in your Rucks.

OldOcker · 03/04/2015 at 00:58

Great Article BVC, I wonder if anyone picked Docherty for Perfect 9 apart from Sam Docherty?
Gaj VC this week.
Pendles, Fyfe or Selwood Captain "IF" GAJ does not perform.

I don't think GAJ will get subbed off and managed we MUST be positive just like GAJ.
He will be saying I am playing. How easy is this first 5 games for 15 Brownlow points.

Cheers, just my Opinion.

    Kev · 03/04/2015 at 08:03

Like it, OO. Taking a punt on Gazza as well, not a bad guy to take a punt on!

G · 03/04/2015 at 07:50

Can someone tell me why supercoach app hasn’t given the points for the last nights game so far?

    Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 07:55

Points appear on the match day option. Super coach doesn't allocate points on your team sheet until after the round is complete.

Tyler · 03/04/2015 at 07:51

1 more spot: 712713

Scott · 03/04/2015 at 08:12

I have McIntosh but locked him in as emergency before the game last night. Should I continue on or cop a 0 with another rookie so I can collect his score?

    Linford Shulman · 03/04/2015 at 08:44

    No don’t chase his score

Luviboy1 · 03/04/2015 at 09:26

55,000 sitting in the bank. What shall I do?
-Upgrade Thumper to Higgins/Lumumba.
-Downgrade Thumper to Ibbo/Geary.
-Keep the cash.

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 09:57

    What is wrong with thumper

David · 03/04/2015 at 09:27

really need peoples thoughts, will wallis tag or do you think his role will change this year? want to pick him but a bit scared.

    DCap · 03/04/2015 at 09:41

Go with ya gut, I went with T.Hunt and was worried he started beautifully

The General · 03/04/2015 at 09:45

Anyone looking at Mackie as a defence POD? Good price, decent average, named on the wing… Thoughts?

Bobby · 03/04/2015 at 10:07

Thoughts on H.Taylor?

    Jack · 03/04/2015 at 19:36

    wont play

dognino · 03/04/2015 at 10:11

Ok, after all my arguments this whole pre season , I can't believe I'm saying this………..but with giles not named in the bombers side , and a lot positive talk from the JR community , I'm actually considering TBC at F4 .

Only way to afford it is to downgrade swan at F3 to a t Adams priced player, then I can upgrade Lonie from my bench to TBC. Am I going crazy. Everyone says to follow your gut, but what happens if your gut does a complete 360?

It would leave my forward line looking like …….gray, bartel, Adams ? , TBC , Clark, Salem, ( hogan, lamb)

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 10:53

Personally, I reckon Swan & rookie is better on field than Adams & TBC.
I'm not convinced by Taylor Adams, he generally has poor efficiency.

With low-ruck scoring last night (Maric had similar "around the ground" points but seemed to lose out on the hit-out points)…. I'm actually willing to play TBC in the ruck.

Assuming theres no extra cash to be had so that you could do a Bontempelli / Tex instead of Adams?

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 14:54

    Put him in your ruck

Jeff · 03/04/2015 at 10:13

Anyone know when hamling and Hugh Goddard are expected to play?

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 14:54

    Silly question

JRamsay · 03/04/2015 at 10:17

Had mcintosh as the emergency!!
Have got adam Saad as well
Can place hugh goddard on the field and take his score.
or do i trade hugh goddard for either
Adam Oxley
Joel hamling
Nathan Brown

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 10:33

This gig is all about cash. Wouldn't play a donut just to chase a score. If you've options named, take them…. McIntosh, Saad, Oxley. Done!

      LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 12:47

Not having a player isn't worth 120 points, get as many rooks playing as possible

Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 10:33

Any concern that Ryan Griffin has been named in the forward pocket?

    LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 12:46

So was Muprohy and Yarran but they played their actual positions, just GWS messing with us

      Dools · 03/04/2015 at 12:51

Hey Lek …Blues were woeful, You have a whole season of this!!!!

        LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 12:53

        If I didn't have supercoach I don't know what I'd do

          Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 16:09

          I can think of a few things…

    Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 16:08

Nope. The named team is not any indication that they'll play in that position. I expect Griffin to play right in the guts from bounce-down. The above rule will apply to Gary Ablett. Named to play ruck rover. I traverse this and say he'll likely start on the bench or forward line. If I were his coach, I'd give him the green vest and sub him in 3rd term but that's just me.

Luke · 03/04/2015 at 11:21

trying to decide on an emergency ruck – Read, Cox, O'Brien. All cheap, all not playing, all DPP. Any thoughts on which one is more likely to get early game time?

    Tulendeena · 03/04/2015 at 12:17

Read has better games for loopholing (Most Sunday games), though O'Brien has a better shot at a game

      Beady Eye · 03/04/2015 at 15:11

Cox is third in line at the Pies, with only Grundy and Witts ahead of him.

An injury to one of them and he'd be in the frame by default.

        SideBySidebottom · 03/04/2015 at 21:42

Corey Gault's been upgraded and would be ahead of Cox,

Cheers in advance

    Salem and Clark

Cyril is Delicious · 03/04/2015 at 11:56

Cockatoo or Jed Anderson?

    Tulendeena · 03/04/2015 at 12:16

Wait for the teams for that one, they both play on Monday

    Luviboy1 · 03/04/2015 at 14:11

Both very likely candidates for the snot vest unfortunately.

      Derek · 03/04/2015 at 15:01

I think Hartung is ahead of anderson at the moment. Hartung is a perfect sub player.

Nuggety · 03/04/2015 at 12:40

Decisions decisions who do you think will be the best appreciater in value, for M8?

Anderson or

Ellis Yolmen…

Anderson and CEY seem to have the most potential but might find themselves best 23. Vandenberg playing this week but could be vested and play 1 qtr…?

Appreciate any advice, cheers!

    LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 12:45

Yolmen on with emg on vandenBerg

      Nuggety · 03/04/2015 at 12:54

      Thanks Lek makes sense

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 15:02

    Anderson very lucky to play.

Cyril is Delicious · 03/04/2015 at 12:44

I currently have Ellis-Yolemen and Heeney starting on my feild, but if Vandenburg didn’t get the green vest he come on, for Heeney. So I’m waiting for the game tomorrow before I make any decisions.

Borko · 03/04/2015 at 12:47

Currently have rich at M6 as stepping stone to GAJ in about R7-8. Thinking of dropping him down to Newton to get TBC in my fwd line. He looks the no.1 solo ruck at essendon and too good to pass up. To make it happen, I also need to drop goldy back to nicnat, alongside Minson in my rucks. Concerned about 500+ ruckmen after Maric score last nite. Anyone with similar dilemma, thoughts? Cheers

    LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 12:55

Goldstein will be the number 1 ruckman for supercoach this year

      Borko · 03/04/2015 at 13:12

There is that to consider … Would u say thumper to Ibbotson is a better compromise?

        @brookquinn · 03/04/2015 at 13:15

Would actually need to go down to Geary

        LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 13:16

Better yes but still risky. You could get rid of Rich and swing say a Swan into the mid and then have Bellch at f3/4 with some cash to upgrade somewhere else

          @brookquinn · 03/04/2015 at 13:26

Hadn't even thought of that … But does throw my structures out a bit … Swan is likely keeper in fwd but stepping stone in mids. Will run some further analysis down at the lab before I commit. Love the vids btw, cheers.

            LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 14:18

Can always swing him back fwd later on, just a thought. Thanks mate

    Put Bellchambers in the Ruck

Gold Rush · 03/04/2015 at 13:22

Thought I had an excellent POD in Morris, with his shift from the back line to the forward line thought he would give me something. I got something alright, a dead set punch in the ring. What a spud, lucky I had McIntosh. Got a few corrective trades to make come Tuesday.

He is courageous no doubt, has too much of a defensive mindset and very little in an attacking mindset. As the year rolls on I have no doubt that he will improve – but in SC terms, the bloke is a spud. Took the punt and paid the price – such is life.

      SideBySidebottom · 03/04/2015 at 21:55

Charging into the contest hard is one thing. Keeping your eyes on the ball while someone is doing that to you and winning the ball is another………….

    @Linca_HotTiges · 03/04/2015 at 22:14

Yeah he's never going to be a 'SC' player..

@brookquinn · 03/04/2015 at 13:25

Hadn't even thought of that … But does throw my structures out a bit … Swan is likely keeper in fwd but stepping stone in mids. Will run some further analysis down at the lab before I commit. Love the vids btw, cheers.

FearTheBeard · 03/04/2015 at 13:26

Guys really appreciate some opinions on this :

is it a better move trading Goodes out for Brown now and putting 100k in the bank based on the fact Goodes is benched?

    Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 13:45

I wouldnt read too much into whose named on the bench.

I also wouldn't select Brown, but everyone has their own decisions to make.

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 13:49

If Goodes is in the green vest, he's too expensive to keep.
Brown has good JS but low scoring history.

If goodes gets a start though, he can score better and i'd lock him away in your backline

      Derek · 03/04/2015 at 15:09

Is Goodes in Dogs best 22? Seriously…….I’m not picking him.

Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 13:37

Decisions, decisions….

Two spots for either: Kolodjashnij, Higgins, Lumumba.

K.K might get permanent wing role which gave him good steady points during NAB. Steady points but lower ceiling maybe? Named in corner pocket though…
Higgins at better team now, ticked a lot of boxes during NAB. But i've been burnt before.
Can Lumumba carry his NAB form into season proper? Is he always going to average 70s as with previous years, or is it genuine now he's more involved at Melbourne?

Thoughts community?

    Luviboy1 · 03/04/2015 at 14:04

Im in the same boat. Ive gone with only Thumper at the moment, I think he'll have a decent, steady season. I feel like Lumumba wont carry his NAB form into the AFL and Higgins, well Higgins has burnt plenty before. If I was you I'd go with Prince and Thumper. Go with your gut tho.

      demon · 03/04/2015 at 14:57

one thing with higgins is that he kicked 7 goals in his two nab games, which wouldve boosted his score quite a bit. He aint gonna be pumping out those sort of numbers in the season proper.
From what I've seen with Lumumba's increased midfield minutes, he'll be able to sustain those nab scores more easily.

Guess we shall find out over the coming rounds

    Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 16:14

Rowan, who have you got at the moment?

      Rowan · 03/04/2015 at 16:20

Shaw – Newnes – Higgins – KK – Goodes – McIntosh (Saad, Oxley) at the moment.

Not starting Ablett so i have money in bank to get him in few weeks down the track, so can play around with defense if needs be.

        Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 19:36

Liking it mate. I reckon stick with it.

Kingpin · 03/04/2015 at 13:44

Help please community!!
When do players prices go up or down??

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 13:47

After their third game… and then every game after using their 3-game rolling average

      Derek · 03/04/2015 at 15:12

You have 4 trades to make before prices change

        Kingpin · 03/04/2015 at 16:35

        Thanks heaps guys! Appreciate it!

Luviboy1 · 03/04/2015 at 14:18

Who'll have a better year. Wines or Boak?

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 15:13

    Boak. But wines is cheaper

    Trevor · 03/04/2015 at 18:29

Wines WILL be the next supercoach super star !!!!!

    SideBySidebottom · 03/04/2015 at 22:01

I think it could be a good year for wines.

Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 14:24

Hi JR Community!
Like many I'm enduring the rookie dilemma down back? Defence is Simpson, H Shaw, Newnes & Henderson with rookies McIntosh, Saad & Oxley but Goddard also (who I think will play soon but with VFL not kicking off til April 17 how do we know form or which rookies are even playing?) at D5-8. I don't have cash to upgrade to Brown.
Do I hold and hope Goddard plays in coming weeks OR downgrade Newnes & Goddard to C Peace & Goodes or something else? Don't really want to move on Newnes but have never been one to have dead wood on benches not earning cash & already have Lambert & Tom Read??

Thoughts community on this beautifull sunny Good Friday?

    Dools · 03/04/2015 at 14:47

    Hi 'Bergs,
Newnes is named on the park in the centres , Goodes is on an extended bench and I hope he is not the Green Vest candidate
So what is your Newnes delimma???

      Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 15:29

No dilemma with Newnes, just don't like having dead wood on bench, so trying to avoid that Dools

    Sonny · 03/04/2015 at 14:47

I'm not convinced on Pearce. Is there a player in a different line you can downgrade to then upgrade Goddard? Alternatively if you're not 100% set on Shaw, you could downgrade him to a slightly cheaper option in the 470k range to raise the funds to move Goddard up to Brown

      Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 15:40

Thanks Sonny, I'll look at that too

    shezza · 03/04/2015 at 16:50

I have same backline as you. Im fairly confident in my selection. I have put Oxley on the ground and Goodes as my emergency. I had Geary right up until the bounce and went with gut feeling and put Henderson in. I am hoping he plays on the wing and delivers inside 50s and racks them up.
If he goes poor the first 2 weeks, i look at upgrading to Docherty (assuming he goes ok)

      Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 22:47

Thanks Shezza, great minds think alike!
Have taken onboard Sonny's suggestion & looked at cheaper options than Shaw?

Thoughts please on James Kelly/M Johnson/Hurn? Then I can afford Brown as cash cow option?

        shezza · 04/04/2015 at 05:59

I reckon Shaw will be in the top 1-3 defenders this year

Dessie · 03/04/2015 at 14:25

Based on who is in I have made some blind bench changes
Swapped Ellis-Yolm for Garlett…and bought in Oxley for Goddard (know nothing about them?).
Is this wise based on the mail of the other 2 and the fact they may come in next week?

    Dools · 03/04/2015 at 14:33

Ellis – Yoelman is on NAB form a JET! He is also named on the extended 7 man bench for the Crows. He deserves a start he is good. Oxley is a good exchange for Goodard. Garlett I know bugger all about him mate so Go with your gut …

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 14:46

I wouldn't be moving Ellis-Yolmen anywhere. Wait for the finalised team, but I'd be very surprise if Garlett turns out to be a better choice.

    Sidey to be different.

    Shezza · 03/04/2015 at 16:02

    I have Beams and Parker

      jimbo · 03/04/2015 at 16:19

      Here is my mid:

Rocky, Ablett, Barlow, Lewis, ? , Newton, Cripps, CEY (Vberg, Saad)

      Parker, Beams or Sidey?

        Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 17:17

        Hazey · 03/04/2015 at 21:16

        Barlow under an injury cloud???

    jimbo · 03/04/2015 at 17:17

Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 15:03

To Higgo, Jock, Crouching One and all followers of the Jock Reynolds Fantasy Footy Community,
One lesson I learnt from last year is no trading in the first round!!! I traded out Goldstein after his shoulder injury at that time last year and it cost me big time! Stick with your guns! If you must trade, do it just before round 3 starts. Do not trade Pat Cripps, Dusty etc. Only trade Daisy IF he will miss games in the long-term (atm highly likely). Trust your instinct.

    Trevor · 03/04/2015 at 18:26

    thanks jambo thats excellant advise

Beady Eye · 03/04/2015 at 15:07

So it's come down to one final decision… help me out community.

Wines + Bellchambers
Newton + any ruckman

Naitanui is my other ruck, with Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Parker and Griffen the other premium mids.

    Rosco · 03/04/2015 at 16:46

Mate, go Wines & BLC. Looks like ruck scores will go down this year with the new changes so BLC is a good stepping stone for when you see which rucks are killing it later in the season to upgrade to. And Wines could breakout again this year.

Andy · 03/04/2015 at 15:20

I am stuck with my last midfield rookie position. Vanderberg or Anderson? I’m just concerned that Anderson might be a sub risk and his JS won’t be great.

Thoughts please?

Also, anyone else going Mummy for VC loophole? I’m hoping he goes BANG and score 140+!

All the best for the year community.

    Shezza · 03/04/2015 at 15:31

I have Ablett as VC and Mumford as Captain.

    Jambo · 03/04/2015 at 16:00

Vandenburg's a safe pick, cheaper and more gametime. I think Mummy's a sure thing to go large this weekend against St Kilda. Good luck this year!

    Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 17:21

Anderson is not in Hawthorns best 22, he will get gams, but not every week.

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 18:33

Anderson won’t play. Hartung ahead of him

    nick · 03/04/2015 at 21:39

mummy will go 170 I hope my c is rocky and v mummy

Those who are seriously dedicated to SC leagues please feel free to join league numbers: 618176 or 637501 it would be greatly appreciated if you pick just one.

Jock, Higgo, Crouching, Wayno if you are able to join any other leagues please join one, it would be a absolute honour to have you guys.

Actually Jock I just joined your – Jock Reynolds Supercoach Saturday League 2 team via Moneyball. I'm also in the first one, it's a great little game.

Phil · 03/04/2015 at 16:29

Just some advice on those with McIntosh as Emergency, as I was in a identical position last year with Langdon scoring 120 odd.
I traded McDonald (who everyone had) out for Aylett out who had been talked up by Bomber Thompson and was named emergency for the Bombers so I thought he wasn't too far away. He played a couple of games with modest scores and no price gain so for me it was a loss, especially since McDonald was so solid.

But had I gone KK who also missed Round 1, and traded out someone other than McDonald it may have come off pretty good.

So my advice would be it can work, but if the non playing Round 1 guy you bring in is a dud (or the one you take out is good) it's not worth it.

Declan · 03/04/2015 at 16:34

Priddis or lewis as a POD in the Midfield?

    eatemalive · 03/04/2015 at 16:48

I had the same decision to make and went Lewis

    shezza · 03/04/2015 at 16:55

    Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 17:23

I have both but Priddis would be my pick, lone ranger as an in & under WCE player, also never misses games.

Cudi · 03/04/2015 at 16:51

Hey guys,
Lamb, Lonie or Hogan??
Already have Clarke so forward line seems tall..
Can anyone tell me why they think Lonie will hold his spot and in what role?
Is Hogan to good to pass??

    Donavan · 03/04/2015 at 17:05

I would select Lamb of those three.

Lonie will get some chances, but will be managed also, if I had to guess, I would say 12 games this year.

Hogan being a KPF will be attracting the oppositions best key sized defender.

    Derek · 03/04/2015 at 17:26

Hogan is a dead set gun. Stuff him in your team.

    nick · 03/04/2015 at 21:31

I got rid of Hogan and went with lamb think he might get better scores also think tim membury will get lot better scores with the help of roo

Newnes and Brown
Geary/Ibbo and Goodes
Prefer Geary

Newnes & Brown if Brown is bench option as Newnes may turn into keeper

Goldstein, bellchambers (downie)

Gray, goddard, martin, salem, clark, hogan

Luviboy1 · 03/04/2015 at 18:29

SideBySidebottom · 03/04/2015 at 19:15

I'm surprised Sidebottom was left out of this analysis.

He's played at the Gabba three times for scores of 89 (when he was only 19) , 156 and 127 for an average of 124.

When Brisbane smashed the Pies last year on the MCG he still managed 103.

Question · 03/04/2015 at 19:17

Hey Community,

Just wondering about the importance of price to points is at this stage as i have a dilemma.

I currently have McIntosh as Emerg and he scored 120, do I keep hamling on the field and take the score, or do i go for cash and trade hamling to oxley.

    LEKD0G · 03/04/2015 at 19:20

Go for cash mate, 120 points not worth a trade later on or the cash you could miss out on

Dustbin Feltchers · 03/04/2015 at 20:30

same dilemma..mcintosh as emergency..dont want to bring in a donut just to get his 120…should just be grateful he scored so well…big thanks to dusty "big preseason fit as ever" martin. hope no one had daisy thomas…quick question community…

Stevens and Newton (M5 and 6) or S Selwood and Rich ??? will Newton outscores Cripps 51?? ( he is my M7).

nick · 03/04/2015 at 20:43

I would go for Oxley as he will be a cash cow for u

Tman · 03/04/2015 at 20:52

Need some advice good community.

149k left trying to upgrade m hallahan at m6. Cant quite get to griffen. What are my best options for 462k m6.

Team atm

def: shaw, newnes, lumumba, pearce, goodes (mcintosh, hamling saad)

Mid: abblett, rockliffe, fyfe, parker, wines, hallahan, cripps cey (heeney, vandenberg, miller)

Ruck: minson, maric (read)

Fwd: gray, lids, t adams, saleem, clark, hogan (lamb, krauker)

My PODs are starting both abblett and rocliffe and adams instead of swan.

Help pls wise old heads. Thanks a million.

    Jonathon · 03/04/2015 at 21:35

If Scott Selwood avoids the vest, i would recommend him. Or another option would be bontempelli

    Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 21:40

    Lachie Neale from Freo?

      Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 21:42

      Sorry mate. He's $468,900 … can't find 7k elsewhere i guess?

        Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 21:45

Clancee Pearce (possibly tagging) down to Oxley gives you an extra $150k.
With your $462 you might even sneak in JPK

          Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 22:52

I would upgrade Taylor Adams with spare cash

          Tman · 04/04/2015 at 13:00

          Thx guys appreciate the suggestions.

nick · 03/04/2015 at 20:52

my team is as follows not starting with gary might hurt me might not

Backs murphy newnes taylor Ibbotson McIntosh saad bench Oxley ramsey

Mids rockliff fyfe joel selwood steal Sidebottom h benell rich cockatoo heeney bench ellis yolmen smith lambert

rucks mumfrd maric bench Nankervis

Fwds N riewoldt t hawkings d swan m bontempelli t membrey m clark bench j McGrath t lamb

so what do u think let me know think this a winning team taken a punt on few players but if it pays of could work out in my favor

Dustbin Feltchers · 03/04/2015 at 20:55

u could trade out your d1 for birchall and hope to christ he plays next week…mcintoshs 120 is now playable…depends how high u rate birch..just an option..

Tom · 03/04/2015 at 21:00

Who will score better rd 1, hogan or lamb?

    Tman · 03/04/2015 at 21:05

My money would be on lamb. If hes not vested.

    nick · 03/04/2015 at 21:29

lamb that's a tough one think gold coast will smash mel and Hogan might not get the ball how ever if bulldogs play like they did against the pies lamb might not get anything just take a punt and hope for the best

JB · 03/04/2015 at 21:13

Who are the best Defender rookie options Midfield rookie options, Forward rookie options?

    eatemalive · 03/04/2015 at 22:41

If you had read all the articles / posts over the past month you would have had your question answered !

      JB · 04/04/2015 at 04:31

Some of the rookies over the past month are obsolete aka Goddard ain't gonna play round 1, any new rookies worth considering thoughts community …

Hazey · 03/04/2015 at 21:21

Hmmmm to take Ahmed Saad or Lonie for the last fwd rookie spot? I reckon they’ll probably both be involved in the sub vests!

Other rookies are Clark, Salem, Hogan & Lamb.

    Northernsoul74 · 03/04/2015 at 21:25

Membrey not really being mentioned and has great job security. Wouldn't expect big score though.

Mozz · 03/04/2015 at 21:31

I have a dilemma.

Is it better to go with ruck coverage in the fwd line as a F4 (most likely Lycett)
My original fwdline was Gray, Swan, Walker, salem, clark, hogan (Lamb, Lambert)
Upgrade a def rookie to another mid pricer? My def atm is
Smith, Shaw, Newnes, Goodes, McIntosh, Saad (goddard, Hamling)

    Kev · 04/04/2015 at 08:54

Depends on your rucks, Mozz. If they are top of line I wouldn't worry about coverage, if one goes down you shoot it and trade in another top ruck. It's on the safer side having coverage for Leuy or TBC because if either goes down early you'll be stuck trading in a weaker ruck

@brookquinn · 03/04/2015 at 21:31

Well it's come down to this:
Minson & Griffin vs NicNat & Wines
Flip a coin or am I missing something?

Rowan_ · 03/04/2015 at 21:48

I don't know enough about the Doggies team. Anyone know who are the likely lads for the green and red vests? Who was subbed in NAB? Beveridge say anything pre-season? I'm trying to make sure Goodes is as worthwhile as he looks….

    Jonathon · 03/04/2015 at 22:09

To me, Mitch Honeychurch is a 95% chance to be sub.

    Northernsoul74 · 04/04/2015 at 08:03

I agree Honeychurch will be sub this weekend. I'm not convinced Goodes is best 22 going forward though. Biggs,Hamling, Hrovat, Clay Smith, Prudden, Darley, Flethcher-Roberts all will push for a place over the coming weeks.

      Derek · 04/04/2015 at 11:30

Goodes not in my team. Not in dogs best 22

gimmthe50k · 03/04/2015 at 22:13

Bontempelli or Scott Selwood? I see selwood as a bigger scorer especially returning to his 2013 tagging role, but on that side tagging can limit points and he is coming back from injury under a limited pre season. However bonts has a huge upside which was shown in the NAB cup.

    @Linca_HotTiges · 03/04/2015 at 22:19

    Bontempelli in a heartbeat

      Fromberger · 03/04/2015 at 22:58

Johnson good shout. I've got Bob Murphy but as a Doggies man that's a call from the heart more than from the head.

Borko · 03/04/2015 at 23:44

Minson v NicNat
Griffin v Wines

    Kev · 04/04/2015 at 08:48

There is logic behind picking Minson over NicNat due to him not completing a full preseason. Griff v Wines is a tougher one, I wouldn't be disappointed with either

    Derek · 04/04/2015 at 09:14

    I have Nic Nat.

I have had Wines in my team All preseason. Yesterday jumped on Griffin on the back of what Gerard on 360 was saying about him.

Do you think Ellis-yolmen will get the vest?

Ryan K · 04/04/2015 at 09:25

Who to start,?

Vandenberg, Touk MIller, Ellis-Yolmen or Heeney?

I can wait until I know who subs are for Dees Vs Suns and go with one of them to be safe or pick one of the others and back them in.

        Ryan K · 04/04/2015 at 11:36

Thanks, as a Melbourne member who will be at the game, I think I'll be going Vandy and Hogan to give me something extra to cheer for.

Tony · 04/04/2015 at 09:38

Lonie or McGrath – last forward rookie spot????

    @emhoy · 04/04/2015 at 10:46

I am picking Lonie as I suspect he has better JS than McGrath. There are a few small forwards at Lions so not sure how safe McGrath is. The saints need to play there kids.

Kane · 04/04/2015 at 09:40

Hibberd or Gibson?

John · 04/04/2015 at 10:11

I've got Heeney, CEY, Miller, Anderson as midfield rooks…should i replaced one of them for vanderberg?

    Mac · 04/04/2015 at 10:21

Kolo and Parker or Lumumba and Griff

    Derek · 04/04/2015 at 11:33

Anderson is behind Hartung to get a game. Hartung is perfect sub.

bob n · 04/04/2015 at 10:37

Is it essential to have mid/fwd swing??

    Brook · 04/04/2015 at 10:50

Could be handy if u don’t have GAJ … Will give more steppingstone options

    Nemo_Hoes · 04/04/2015 at 11:21

Personally I always look for dpp options

    bob n · 04/04/2015 at 11:46

    i have GAJ

brent · 04/04/2015 at 11:09

hi all,

need help to decide on last spot in mids.. i have 636K who do you think is the best pick?

i like beams but unsure about him.

im leaning towards sloane but i think parker might avg the same?? any help would be great!

Mac · 04/04/2015 at 11:12

Kolo and Parker or Lumumba and Griffin

    Nemo_Hoes · 04/04/2015 at 11:20

I have lumumba & griffin, like harrys dpp status and the fact he will get a lot of easy possies in the dees line up

Nemo_Hoes · 04/04/2015 at 11:18

Hey SC community Help help wigh captain pick, put the vc on lids & now stuck.
got griffin, selwood, pendles, fyfe put can't pick which 1. All help appreciated

    TJM · 04/04/2015 at 11:24

    Fyfe or Selwood

    I N Pieman · 04/04/2015 at 11:41

      Howie Feltersnatch · 04/04/2015 at 14:00

That was my gut feel, but expecting big game from griffin & selwood is just pure class. Maybe I will throw darts to pick the captain

TJM · 04/04/2015 at 11:24

Community, I'm not sure who to put my C on if Ablett doesn't perform. I got Beams, Gray, Selwood, Fyfe. Not sure who to pick

    Cyril is Delicious · 04/04/2015 at 11:40

I’ve gone with Fyfe if that helps.

    mile009 · 04/04/2015 at 12:42

Evan · 04/04/2015 at 11:27

Debating whether to take Lonie (fwd) or Vandenberg (mid)…

If I take Lonie I would be looking at wines (or equiv price) in the mids and only having 3 prem in the forward line. With Vberg I'd bring in Bartel is the fwds and have 5 prem in the mids…

PJay · 04/04/2015 at 11:30

Is it just my computer monitor, or does the lack of contrast make it hard to see who you've got the "C", "V" and "E" on for anyone else??

    Ryan K · 04/04/2015 at 11:38

My dad struggles, but then he does with most things.

      PJay · 04/04/2015 at 11:45

Ha, great answer!! I actually was wondering if it was my ageing eyesight?!!

Derek · 04/04/2015 at 11:39

Is there a rookie who is playing this week who has fwd/mid DDP?

    I N Pieman · 04/04/2015 at 11:44

Don’t think so Derek. Wasn’t as many rookies fwd as we thought there would be

jimmydowland · 04/04/2015 at 11:40

nelson or krakour??

Cudi · 04/04/2015 at 11:43

I wish I had the plums to chop SWAN for M. WALTERS
(He'll be my 1 that got away)

    eatemalive · 04/04/2015 at 11:50

Mate, if it helps, stay with Swan & I'm not a Collingwood supporter

    Donavan · 04/04/2015 at 13:17

I went from Swan to Taylor Walker, was contemplating Walters, but Walkers NAB form and being captain swayed me.

bob n · 04/04/2015 at 11:47

krakour or miller

Krakour opens up fwd/mid swing. Otherwise no swing

I N Pieman · 04/04/2015 at 11:55

Still rejoicing having KMac d5. He’s a gun. Worried about Cripps

    Cudi · 04/04/2015 at 12:15

Yeah good call Pieman, my first softcrock decision of the year.
Every1 has him though so I had to get him incase he went big!! Baaaaaa
Wish I went Sheed instead of Sheep!!!

    Hopefully hes better next week…..

….. and Sheed does a string!

      I N Pieman · 04/04/2015 at 12:37

Well at least he made his BE. Not my much though. Seriously considered Sheed. I hope he spuds it as well or I’ll spew up! Another performance like that & it’s sideways to the best performing 200k mid

        Cudi · 04/04/2015 at 13:30

        Howie Feltersnatch · 04/04/2015 at 13:57

Gotta give him at least 3 weeks in my eyes

          kevwal · 05/04/2015 at 10:16

He has next week to perform, then picking up a rookie I may have missed.

    Howie Feltersnatch · 04/04/2015 at 13:55

Not a great game for me with cripps performance & lids performance and him looking like he will get a 3 or 4 week holiday from the mrp

      Howie Feltersnatch · 04/04/2015 at 13:58

Forgot about dusty and ivan milat in ruck

johnboy · 04/04/2015 at 12:09

Jobe, Boak, Griffen, Parker, Lewis? who would be the best pick?

    Stickman · 04/04/2015 at 15:25

I think Parker can go ultra premium this year. Thats where I would spend the money.

Cyril is Delicious · 04/04/2015 at 12:27

Vandenberg not starting as sub, do I start him over Heeney or CEY?

    Donavan · 04/04/2015 at 13:14

I think either Vandenberg or CEY. I see Heeny getting the vest.

      Mike · 05/04/2015 at 11:54

I saw him kick the winning goal! LOL GO Swans!

James · 04/04/2015 at 12:36

Vanderberg or Anderson?

    Cyril is Delicious · 04/04/2015 at 12:41

      CJay · 04/04/2015 at 13:32

If you don't think Anderson will get the vest then back him but the safer pick at the moment is Vandenberg..

mile009 · 04/04/2015 at 12:40

Who would be the better defensive option?

Bewick or Ibbotson

I would appreciate the advice.

Thank you.

FearTheBeard · 04/04/2015 at 12:45

Is Goodes good to go or what?

    Northernsoul74 · 04/04/2015 at 12:56

    Yes for this week.

Cynergy · 04/04/2015 at 12:57

hey guys, need opinions: for the same cash to spend, which would be the best combo – Dane Swan + JP Kennedy or Joel Selwood + JJ Kennedy???

    northernsoul74 · 04/04/2015 at 12:59

    Swann and JPK.

    eatemalive · 04/04/2015 at 13:01

    IMO , I'd go Swan / JP

DaBomb · 04/04/2015 at 12:59

Even though Oxley was named and hamling was not, who would be the better d8 and who would get the most consistent early season game time?

Cheers community and good luck for round 1

TJM · 04/04/2015 at 13:19

Lumumba or Kolo

    John · 04/04/2015 at 13:21

    Stickman · 04/04/2015 at 15:23

    Definitely Kolo

John · 04/04/2015 at 13:22

Who to start out of Heeney, V'berg, Miller and Ellis Yolmen?

    CJay · 04/04/2015 at 13:27

Vberg or EllisY for mine. VERY wet in Sydney at the moment and may not help Heeney's pos count.

      shezza · 04/04/2015 at 15:04

I disagree. Heeney is tough and it will be a contested game. I reckon he will score at least 80

Donavan · 04/04/2015 at 13:30

Just moved the VC from Franklin to Ablett, an inch of rain in Sydney today already.

Luke · 04/04/2015 at 13:39

last minute traded out Gary Ablett for Pendlebury. will either make or break me haha. could this years bruyn manouvre

WebSpyda · 04/04/2015 at 14:11

Even the commentators are mystified by the umpires favouring Melbourne
Are the umps working for the bookies or are they just barracking for the Vic side????

    Gold Rush · 05/04/2015 at 06:12

Same with Brisbane, Pies got screwed by the maggots.

Tulendeena · 04/04/2015 at 14:32

My gut was wrong, ablett is playing horribly T_T

shezza · 04/04/2015 at 14:52

I traded out Ablett at the last minute for JPK. So far, I’m happy

Steve · 04/04/2015 at 15:05

Can someone please advise a good site to find out who is the "vested" player for each game.

Understand it's not announced until about 2 hours before each game.

    Stickman · 04/04/2015 at 15:14

Fanfooty releases sub info 40 minutes prior to kick-off.

      Steve · 04/04/2015 at 15:22

      Thank you

Anonymous · 04/04/2015 at 15:08

Round 3 trade
OUT Ablett, Salem
IN Wells, Gray

Thoughts …

    Stickman · 04/04/2015 at 15:13

Was thinking the same thing. But, there is still a half to go.

      Kev · 04/04/2015 at 16:35

Wow. Itchy trigger finger! Long long way to go. Sideways trading premiums is something you'll regret

        Anonymous · 04/04/2015 at 19:44

Ablett came back imagine what his score would be if 100% fit

JB · 04/04/2015 at 15:20

Has the change to the scoring system affecting SC scores?

    Anonymous · 04/04/2015 at 22:29

    Not many big scores …

Cudi · 04/04/2015 at 15:44

How good is jean claude van dam-burg!
Goes Hard!!

Wally · 04/04/2015 at 15:47

Bloody not a good start. Had Miller on field instead of Vandenberg. Had Gaz and Kolo. Not happy

    Kev · 04/04/2015 at 16:33

Only the 2nd game of the year, Wally! Chin up mate

carlashirley90 · 04/04/2015 at 16:18

Geese SuperCoach loves Ablett, currently 61 DT @ 113 SC points late in last Quater. Had a slow 1st half then picked it up a bit in the 3rd with a great start to the 4th with 2 goals but c'mon 19 posies @ 77% no tackles =113 SC points??

    Gold Rush · 04/04/2015 at 19:00

Loves Parker also, he gets stretchered off and his score is still going up.

    cow roll · 04/04/2015 at 19:40

They took Parker's score and gave it to Ablett. Parker got 70

carlashirley90 · 04/04/2015 at 16:22

Get this feeling that because Rucks are scoring less with new point system that premium midfielders can get 20 disposals and still ton up. Example was Judd last night, who knows maybe too early to tell but it sure seems like it.

Tom · 04/04/2015 at 16:24

Thinking of putting the Captain on Mummy after Ablett's 112 at VC. Scored over 150 in the first three rounds last year and averages over 130 against St Kilda. Thoughts?

    Kev · 04/04/2015 at 16:31

    Read the article maybe?

    kevwal · 05/04/2015 at 10:19

Unless he does an ankle/shoulder/face plant in the first quarter, I reckon Mummy is a good pick for Captain.

Wally · 04/04/2015 at 16:28

Does it matter what score we get this first round?

    Wally · 04/04/2015 at 16:27

Sorry Tom! Didn't mean to comment that on your post! I beliebe Mummy is a very valid Captain. He should destroy the Saints.

    Kev · 04/04/2015 at 16:30

Unless you're going for overall then not really.

carlashirley90 · 04/04/2015 at 16:41

Okay community please tell me why Ablett who sat on 11 disposals at 1/2 time with 39 SC points finishes with 19 disposals and 2 goals gets 119 SC points?

So 8 disposals and 2 goals in the 2nd half = 80 SC points? ( i understand that ones points varies due to others in the team )

    Tulendeena · 04/04/2015 at 16:47

    Those at statscentre picked Ablett

Works for me (someone who has ablett)

      carlashirley90 · 04/04/2015 at 16:53

Feel like he has been over scored by 20 atleast here

        Mike · 04/04/2015 at 19:41

Situation normal then. He usually gets points for farting in the ball’s general direction.

        fluff · 05/04/2015 at 01:43

Something to do with contested possesions and score assists i think unlike dt which is basically disposals , i think someone will correct me.

    Derek · 04/04/2015 at 18:55

    Ablett is a gun. Lock

    ToneStar · 05/04/2015 at 20:15

Contested possessions = gold points in SC…

Wally · 04/04/2015 at 16:57

657 off 13. Bad start

    Mike · 04/04/2015 at 17:18

Me too, months of research circling the bowl thanks to Martin’s, Kolo’s and Jaksch’s bad scores.
Could be worse, I might have picked Ablett.
I’ll come back and resist the trade monster like last year.

      Rick Grimes · 04/04/2015 at 17:52

      119. Think GAJ owners are sitting pretty. He’ll go 150 next week.

        Derek · 04/04/2015 at 18:57

Ablett 119SC at half pace. Gun

    Donavan · 04/04/2015 at 17:19

    799 off 9 (including 5 rookies)

    dognino · 04/04/2015 at 19:42

    963 from 11. 3 prem, 1 mid pricer, 7 rookies played

nick · 04/04/2015 at 17:54

worst player I have ever seen well second heeney from Sydney 2 pos after 2 quarters mygod oh well I have nakia cockatoo in my team he will get 20 plus I hope and no one from the hawks not even hill will catch him

    dognino · 04/04/2015 at 19:43

Finished with 96 points, not a bad effort for his first senior game

    Michael · 04/04/2015 at 22:45

Let's see you do better keyboard warrior…..

    kevwal · 05/04/2015 at 10:22

A rookie with 96pts? As they say, money/money/money.

Luviboy1 · 04/04/2015 at 17:55

Ablett finishing on 119. Supercoach stats centre please explain.

    Tony · 04/04/2015 at 22:17

I’m guessing you don’t have God in your team ? That’s what 730k gets you week in week out !

      Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 07:57

19 disposals and 2 goals doesn't seem worthy of 119 imo

    Vince · 05/04/2015 at 08:59

Yer I 100% agree the system is flawed also Dane swan scores 111 from 31 touches only going at 45% eff. Taylor Adams also had 31 touches going at 61% eff and scored 98 albeit having a higher handball count

    vinnymac · 05/04/2015 at 13:03

I believe out of Gary’s 19 possessions 16 were contested. Contested possies = supercoach gold. That’s why players who make a big impact like selwood can rack up tons without having 30+ touches.

Kkp · 04/04/2015 at 18:25

Lamb or Lonie?

    Mike · 05/04/2015 at 12:02

I went Lonie after Lamb was the sub. Lonie named onfield just now. Woo!
Though Saints are about to be absolutely torn to shreds.

cow roll · 04/04/2015 at 18:26

Dangerfield or Ward?
Dangerfield has much higher celling but I'm concern about his efforts due to his contract.
Ward is consistent and has good all round stats but much lower celling

    cow roll · 04/04/2015 at 18:29

In the midfileld I have GAJ, Ffye, parker, Griff, Judd, CEY, cripps

Levi · 04/04/2015 at 18:30

Lamb sub, still worth having on the bench?

    cow roll · 04/04/2015 at 18:36

Yes he will play every match .

Tim · 04/04/2015 at 18:46

Selwood or Lewis?

Tulendeena · 04/04/2015 at 18:59

Parker injured with a monster score

He better be up and ready for next week

    cow roll · 04/04/2015 at 19:39

He only got 70. Whereas Hogan got 79

      Tulendeena · 04/04/2015 at 21:21

was much higher on AFL, his DE must have been down

Conor · 04/04/2015 at 21:08

if I have 2 emergencies in my mid and I have a zero on the field does the highest emergency score count?aka I Heeney 96 and Miller 30?

    Worm · 04/04/2015 at 21:21

    Lowest counts I'm afraid

    Tulendeena · 04/04/2015 at 21:22

    Miller will count

It's always lowest with 2 emergencies

Derek · 04/04/2015 at 22:25

I have to admit, Rich looked pretty good. Never had him in my team but congrats to anyone who did.

I decided not to take Abletts 119SC and went Pendlrbury C. He got 120.

    Derek · 04/04/2015 at 22:33

    Pendlrbury scaled back to 113

      jim · 05/04/2015 at 11:08

My Selwood and Rich pair worked well! (M5,M6)

Derek · 04/04/2015 at 22:29

Should I take Hogan’s 79 or play Ellis -yollmen on field?

    Linford Shulman · 04/04/2015 at 22:32

    Take 79

nick · 04/04/2015 at 22:30

hay Is anyone having problems with the supercoach scores it says dane swan scored 42 and rich scored 48 and same as steal yet I know those guys scored well over or near 125 130

    BundyBear · 04/04/2015 at 22:33

Yes, But it looks as though it corrected now.

Brett · 04/04/2015 at 22:53

How we all tracking score wise ?

    craig · 04/04/2015 at 23:10

    1278 -12 + C played.

      Brett · 04/04/2015 at 23:15

      1364 … newnes , clarke , gray , mummy , fyfe , c pearce , selwood , griffen

Fyfe or mummy skip , decisions !!

        craig · 04/04/2015 at 23:34

based on ruck scores so far maybe fyfe. selwood also

          eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 08:15

With projections added I'm looking at about 2000 pts, not sure if that G,B or Ugly

            uda · 05/04/2015 at 09:58

Proj 1996. should have picked gray instead of martin… 50s from a premo just not good enough. hope swan keeps going like he did last nght

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 09:40

Average. 1563 from 16 with the C on pendles. Still have newnes,Griffen, Goldstein, gray, bartel and Clark to play .

Mistakes so far, Cripps on field, vandenberg on the bench.

Poor scores from lamumba ,rob Murphy and Salem. Although Salem can be forgiven as an on field rookie.

Slime · 04/04/2015 at 23:23

Dose anyone Know where we can get Live Supercoach scores from this year ?
Previous years I have used the footy star app & for some reason it is not working

    craig · 04/04/2015 at 23:36

shell out and get herald sun subscription

      Slime · 04/04/2015 at 23:54

Thanks Craig is that the only to get them ?

        Northernsoul74 · 05/04/2015 at 01:27

Herald sun seems to only do scores at quarter time. Mate has it, not me.

        craig · 05/04/2015 at 07:24

supercoach paige facebook/twitter does quarter by quarter updates

          eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 08:12

WombatsFC · 04/04/2015 at 23:38

Unsolicited comment.
S.White has previously suffered a broken neck due to high contact on the footy field. DogLedio deliberately targeted his head and neck with full knowledge that it had previously been broken. Probably the most disgustingly cowardly act I've ever seen in a Richmond jumper.
DogLedio could have easily broken whites neck again and the afl should make an example of him and give him six weeks at least. Intentional, dangerous, high impact, head high.

    Kev · 05/04/2015 at 07:52

    Unsolicited reply.
Watching the replay slowed down, both were going for the pill. White got there first and unfortunately when he bent down to pick it up it turned Deledio's bump from shoulder to head. Will get weeks because of head high contact, but it wasn't intentional.

Vickery's roundhouse on Cox last season was the most cowardly act in a Richmond jumper.

      jim · 05/04/2015 at 08:26

he basically aimed for his head.
      No eyes on the ball.
      Unlike Simon White.

    SideBySidebottom · 05/04/2015 at 21:48

Two blokes going for the pill, mate.

A Richmond supporter spitting on coach Terry Wallace is the most cowardly act I've ever seen in a Richmond jumper.

BundyBear · 05/04/2015 at 02:03

Should I or shouldnt I ?? oops. forgot the question

    Tulendeena · 05/04/2015 at 07:00

    Definitely shouldn't

Crowmagnon · 05/04/2015 at 07:06

I currently have krakour at m11. Should i turn him into cockatoo or save the cash and dpp?

    Gold Rush · 05/04/2015 at 07:16

He's not generating cash if he is not playing, if it was me I'll take the Cockatoo over the Krakour any day. lol

    Kev · 05/04/2015 at 07:42

I'd probably move him on, Crow. Didn't get upgraded to the senior list and will probably find it tough in a talented port team to get regular first team opportunities if he did

Donavan · 05/04/2015 at 07:16

As Rockliff felt the knee to the ribs last night, it hurt both of us…..71 points for my captain.

Looks like I'm playing for league wins at this stage, as I think my rookies are out scoring my premo's. Will be great for cash generation, and getting to full premo, but I need my premo's to score like premo's.

    Sonny · 05/04/2015 at 09:30

I had Rocky too and he along with a bunch of my other premos have underperformed this week. I've noticed a lot of the premos I don't have also underperforming this week though, so I imagine the majority are feeling similar pain

jim · 05/04/2015 at 08:16

Mitch Wallis and Daniel Rich (M5,M6)

Good options?

GAJ, Barlow, Lewis, Parker, Wallis, Rich, Newton, Cripps (CEY, Berg)

    jim · 05/04/2015 at 08:36

What about Wallis and Rich – S.Selwood and ROOK?

    Tman · 05/04/2015 at 08:50

A little light maybe in the mids. But if u stacked the other lines with keepers, then might ok.

    also no heeney!!!

      jim · 05/04/2015 at 09:14

      3 keepers in defense line.
      1 keeper in ruck division.
      4 keepers in forward line.

Tman · 05/04/2015 at 08:26

Christiansen and franklin may have cost me, without them being in my team. Cant afford to lose twoxof my mid guns for few weeks.

Need couple of corrective trades too.

Two questions

1. Head to head starts rd 2?

2. Does rd 1 score count for the overall?

    TTJ · 05/04/2015 at 09:23

    Yes & Yes

      uda · 05/04/2015 at 09:54

head to head starts round 4 right?

        Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 10:24

Question was just answered above ^

Mac · 05/04/2015 at 08:28

Apparently Parker, Rocky, Sidebottom will all miss weeks with their injuries.

    jim · 05/04/2015 at 08:36

    Parker can still play.

      Mac · 05/04/2015 at 08:42

Not is it is a bad concussion or has a broken jaw or something

        dognino · 05/04/2015 at 09:34

Heard Parkers is concussion only, no broken jaw. Think that still rules him out for 1 week tho with the concussion rules.

          Tman · 05/04/2015 at 10:40

Parkers hit looked nasty. Id say at least a week out, if no structural damage.

Id wear a week. But might have to move rocliffe. More than two weeks on the bench would be big dent.

            dognino · 05/04/2015 at 10:49

I have vandenberg and CEY on the bench, so should cover Parker for a week. Don't have any of the other injured guys. Rockys hit didn't look that bad, obviously just got in a real bad spot, parkers looked way worse.

              jim · 05/04/2015 at 11:07

so your saying rocky will be okay????
              I doubt it.
              4-6 weeks at best.

                dognino · 05/04/2015 at 11:48

Nah mate, just saying it didn't look that bad in comparison to the damage it did, punctured lung and broken ribs is no small injury. Agree on the 4-6 weeks

                  jim · 05/04/2015 at 11:55

         confirmed 6 weeks.

    Ethan · 05/04/2015 at 09:32

nothing has been released by the swans so for the moment we can conclude he has concusion so far

    Phil · 05/04/2015 at 09:56

In DT I have all 3

Sully321 · 05/04/2015 at 09:33

Ablett 119 or Fyfe as captain?

    I N Pieman · 05/04/2015 at 09:51

I’m facing the same dilemma. Leaning towards the safety of the 119

      kevwal · 05/04/2015 at 10:28

Fyfe will do better than 119, but 119 is real. I've gone Mummy.

Mac · 05/04/2015 at 10:24

Rockliff has a punctured lung and broken ribs. Hope he can get better soon

    I N Pieman · 05/04/2015 at 10:41

Nasty injury. Has to be traded

Liam · 05/04/2015 at 10:36

If jack sinclair is not named as sub will anyone else consider him as a mid bench option?

    I N Pieman · 05/04/2015 at 10:41

    Nope. Corrective at best

    Tman · 05/04/2015 at 10:41

A downgrade later seems a better option, if not named.

Juddy · 05/04/2015 at 10:56

I'm backing Fyfe to beat 119. He is a beast, and in a tough contest like this one will be, he cannot be stopped

    eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 11:55

I've got the Mummy to go larger than Gablett , taking Risk / Reward option

Linford Shulman · 05/04/2015 at 11:04

How is everyone tracking along this week, what will a par score be

    jim · 05/04/2015 at 11:05

      jim · 05/04/2015 at 11:06

I am 1512/16 with a GAJ, and my captain has not played, Luey turn out great! 96 pts.

        holty · 05/04/2015 at 11:39

big call jim on luey and well rewarded. still struggling to work out this new ruck scoring system. if mummy doesnt score well in the next 2 weeks, luey might need to come into my side

    holty · 05/04/2015 at 11:19

on a unrelated topic, are there some good leagues out there which still has room for one more? i wouldnt mind challenging myself with stronger competition this year.

Barwick's Soldiers · 05/04/2015 at 11:29

Rockliff gone for 4-6 weeks

Parker “Suspected” broken jaw

    holty · 05/04/2015 at 11:34

parker was my 2nd pick this year. big loss to sydney and my supercoach side if thats the case.

      Tony · 05/04/2015 at 11:57

So can those of us that have Rocky afford to keep him on bench for 4-6 weeks ? Three mid rookie bench spots certainly gives us more room to move especially if Heeney, Vandenberg etc look like getting a game for the next few weeks ?

        dognino · 05/04/2015 at 13:25

Personally I'd sideways trade . I have Parker and am waiting for an update, if he's just 1 week I can bench him and take a rookie score . 4-6 weeks of rookies scores is a big hit tho compared to a premos output

        Mike · 05/04/2015 at 15:13

six weeks with a punctured lung and broken ribs. That’s a trade imo.
But who? Down trade to rich, so there’s a cash pot to Ablett in a few weeks might be the go.

          Dean · 05/04/2015 at 17:52

If u have Rocky defiantly trade him out and consider getting him either before or after the bye rounds as he should hemorage cash. If ya don't have GAJ id get him after seeing him score 119 doing nothing much.

eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 11:53

Sinclair & Coniglio have the Vest on

Mike · 05/04/2015 at 11:56

Mummy of Gray for the C?

Is Lonie playing? He was on the sub bench yesterday, but subs on don’t show him as E or as a sub???

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 12:01

Lonie is named on field on my afl app.ngood sign that he won't be starting sub

      Mike · 05/04/2015 at 12:03

Phew, thanks. They just updated too. Gave me a freaken heart attack. Though he wont get much ball today. GWS to win by 60+

Steve · 05/04/2015 at 12:15

Do I take JPK's 127 or put the C on Fyfe, Gray or Griffen?

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 13:20

Take the 127. The others could go big, but you don't know what's gonna happen (rocky, Parker)

    dannyyboyy · 05/04/2015 at 14:23

    yeah id take it

Steve · 05/04/2015 at 12:26

Already have Gray, Lids and Swan in my fwd line. Who is the best pick for f3/4 out of: Tex Walker, Bartel, Ziebell or Wingard? I have 555k to spend

    eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 12:41

I'd wait until the end the round, someone will go big in that lot. But if you want to go today. – JZ. Is my pick as a POD also

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 13:22

Bartel for a proven consistent high scorer. The others are smokies, bartel will be in the top 6 fwd this year

    Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 16:36

Well If your watching the Adelaide v North Melbourne game at the moment, thats an easy question to answer.

      dognino · 05/04/2015 at 16:45

Tex is going huge today, im just getting little glimpses of the game, but it looks like they have tippet on him? Wouldn't expect him to score the same against experienced defenders

        demon · 05/04/2015 at 21:20

tippet was subbed fairly early, but then spud firrito after, so not much different.
scott thompson barely went on him all match

carlashirley90 · 05/04/2015 at 15:43

My team is 2014 all over again with 2 injuries, wrong rookies on field and 2-3 sub 60 scores from proven premiums lol

Looking at 1780 total nice!

Going to be a huge gap in 1st round this year, something like 1600-2400

carlashirley90 · 05/04/2015 at 15:51

Rucks can get stuffed this year, 1st trade Goldy down to ham bacon egg burger and 2nd Rocky to Fyfe or Selwood.
Can't see any Ruckman averaging much more than 95 this year and damn wish I went thin in rucks now.

Might only have 2 ruckman who crack 100 but jeeze I reckon it's 100 max

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 16:09

Tell me about, lookin at R. Murphy ,lamumba, newnes,Griffen Cripps and Salem with poor on field scores for me . Just gotta be patient and not trade too hastily . Rocky I agree , trade out, but have faith that the rest of your premiums will come good. Lookin at about 2025 myself.

    Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 16:41

Scoring system last year > Scoring system this year

    Dean · 05/04/2015 at 18:15

I hear ya as I have Goldy and Skin Flute which cost me $1,075,800 in the Ruck and there combined score was 189
For those who went light in the ruck with the likes of Leuy & TBC which would have only cost $660,500 with a combined score of 178 would be very happy.

However that being said I wouldn't be trading out premiums like Goldy after 1 round, It more often ends up biting ya on the butt big time. Goldy scored about 93 before updates. Don't trade out Goldy especially if you have 2 injuries, you'll have to trade out Rocky if ya have him. You'll be right just hang in there.

      Dean · 05/04/2015 at 18:16

Actually Goldy scored 100 so combined score of 196 with the Skin flute

        the sprinkler · 05/04/2015 at 18:38

beware the skin flute- with a diet of tube steak and a propensity to practise piping the mouth organ he is a risk to any SC team.

Dom · 05/04/2015 at 16:14

Ibbotson or C Pearce? Will there be much difference?

    Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 16:39

Ibbotson will probably score more, as Pearce is tagging I think.

Derek · 05/04/2015 at 16:39

Anderson or Cockatoo?

    Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 16:42

Both likely vest candidates. Toss of a coin.

Tulendeena · 05/04/2015 at 16:55

Want Rich, Geary and Tex in now

Should I trade Rd 1? Or wait for more games?

    Dom · 05/04/2015 at 17:30

    Dean · 05/04/2015 at 20:26

Wait actually dont sideways trade at ALL, its pointless.

dognino · 05/04/2015 at 17:01

Even tho Im not happy with some of my defenders scores, my 6 on field combined for 517 points, or 86 avg . Which is more than wombats magic number of 478, so maybe it's not so bad after all.

Dean · 05/04/2015 at 17:57

What are your current SC scores with how many played and did captain play?

    Dean · 05/04/2015 at 19:07

Oh sorry im on 1848 with 19 played & captain played (GAJ) didn't end up changing to Fyfe as my rule is 115+ is a keeper as Captain.

      WombatsFC · 05/04/2015 at 19:54

1560 with fyffe, boak, selwood, wines, gray, bartel clarke to play. C on fyffe arrrgghh!

        Dools · 05/04/2015 at 21:48

Well C on Fyfe went bad……….

          WombatsFC · 05/04/2015 at 22:17

Boaks 82 didn't help either.Whats the baby Jesus uplift factor? It seems 1 contested possesion for the untouchable one is worth a contested mark 6 running bounces 3 tackles and a goal from anybody else

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 19:42

1800 from 19, C on pendles. Have gray , bartel and Clark to play.

    Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 19:46

    1817 off 18. Captain Mummy.

    craig · 05/04/2015 at 20:04

16 for 1653 with C jpk. Wines, Gray, Fyfe, Bartel, Lewis and Clark to go.

      Dean · 05/04/2015 at 21:37

Craig well done m8 I think the winner of round 1 will score between 2400 to 2500 so your not far off, considering its only round one.
Being on 2020 so with Bartel, Lewis & Clark to play you should score between 2250 to 2300+

I'm standing on 2085 with only Clark to go, So I'll most likely score around 2110 to 2160

      Good luck mate

        craig · 05/04/2015 at 22:48

Cheers. Still got $270K in the kitty so options open for corrective trades. Be nice to not be out of the running by round 5 as per usual….

Marco_Polo94 · 05/04/2015 at 18:03

Sighhhhh. Tex Walker went big. Classic first round regrets aha. Went taylor adams over him and probably won't panic trade. Gotta back your starting selections. Just wondering what is the number you divide by or whatever for the pricing system this season?

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 18:06

    5034 I think???

    OldOcker · 06/04/2015 at 12:18

The current figure is 5375 but that will change about round 5.

Juddy · 05/04/2015 at 18:27

Well Tex Walker went bloody LARGE. I for one, will not be trading anyone this week. I have Parker, but I feel I can put a rookie on field for one week. I'm not going to fall into the trap of sideways trading. I'll stick to my guns and will not trade players for another player who is the 'flavour of the month'

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 18:46

Same mate, I have 29 scoring players this week, Parker will be sidelined unless he is out for longer , I've heard it's just concussion but haven't seen anything officially from the club. Let the players I've picked earn their keep, rookies fatten, then look at trading .

      Juddy · 05/04/2015 at 18:48

Too right, we did a long preseason, and we picked each player in our side for a reason. Its only round 1, let them shine in the rounds to come

Anonymous · 05/04/2015 at 18:37

Are premium ruck over price based on the new scoring system?

Thoughts …

OUT Goldstein and Maric
IN Bellchambers and Zac Smith?

    Dean · 05/04/2015 at 19:03

I think its far to early to say, I think it would be crazy trading out premium rucks based on one game. I have Goldy & Minson and am not changing, I have learn't over the years.

      eatemalive · 05/04/2015 at 19:32

agree Dean , i have Mumford & Maric, not panicking yet

        craig · 05/04/2015 at 20:02

Went Grundy and Bellchambers in ruck- only cost 640k for both and they knocked up 155 combined. Pies supporter hence I reckon Grundy is a bit of a gun.

          Dean · 05/04/2015 at 20:49

After round 1 that looks to be a wise move, by saving the extra $600+k it literally gives you the advantage of selecting a extra elite premium in the midfield. Providing your ruck decision continues you have a huge advantage.

            JB · 05/04/2015 at 21:32

There is a shift in paradigm in the scoring system I can't see any ruck scoring averaging over 100, 80 to 95 would be a good score, also anyone notice that there aren't many big scores from the premium players …

              dognino · 05/04/2015 at 21:37

Watched a couple of games with the iPad in front of me watching scores, last quarters were massively skewed , power v freo for example , there were still well over 1000 points to be allocated in the last, and over 300 still with just 5 mins to go. The last 4 goals all earned the goal kicker about 20 points each. Final siren just 3193 points allocated, so that left just over 100 for post game scaling.

                demon · 05/04/2015 at 21:50

yeah I think its a bit of overkill in close games sometimes, because a goal scored in the first qtr is in theory just as valuable as the last qtr in regards to deciding the outcome of the game.
It makes sense in blowouts, but I think it should be toned done a little for close matches

                  Locked and Loaded · 05/04/2015 at 22:33

Have a look at Goldys scores from last year when he had the same stats as today. Very similar. Don't panic I firmly believe rucks just didnt play very well this week

    Phil · 05/04/2015 at 21:44

A bit early to say. Most of the good ruckmen played against good ruckmen. Minson/NicNat, Goldstein/Jacobs. I'd give it another week to see if they improve.

There were a few tons scored by ruckmen in the NAB but that might not be a reliable source as some were going at 50% to advantage which is way too high.

      craig · 05/04/2015 at 22:40

What about Maric/Wood, Mummy/Longer, Martin/Grundy. Ruckmen don't get points for hitouts not to advantage and is it right they lose 3 points for hitouts to opoosing teams advantage?

    JB · 06/04/2015 at 07:12

Rucks are becoming more redundant from SC perspective, it's definitely a game changer, those who are slow to react will be behind the 8 ball time will tell

Bluetackle · 05/04/2015 at 18:59

Bloody turd riddled team

Luviboy1 · 05/04/2015 at 19:58

Parker cleared to play next week against Port!

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 20:12

Locked and Loaded · 05/04/2015 at 22:07

I have gone Mummy and Goldy in the rucks. I understand people are a tad anxious about ruck scoring but let me show you a different perspective. Spend peanuts and you'll get peanuts. If the new scoring system is effecting the premium ruckmen why would it not effect the weaker ruckmen. Time heals all stay true to your gut I know I will. Wait and see how the average rucks go against better rucks they will really struggle and cream will rise to the top. The difference in points will be much larger just be patient

    Holty · 05/04/2015 at 23:00

You might be right mate but I saw Mumford dominate in the ruck today. He was one of the main differences in the game (In my opinion). Last time I saw him dominate like that last year he was smashing out 130+ scores. I have Mummy and will wait another week. If he dominates again though and scores below 100, I think I'll downgrade and use the cash elsewhere on more reliable scoring options.

      Locked and Loaded · 05/04/2015 at 23:28

Go back through last year and have a look at his scores where he had similar numbers. SC scores are nearly identical. If he dominated as you say the new scoring structure would have rewarded him. Be patient Holty

      Kev · 06/04/2015 at 07:24

Had a look at his numbers from round 1 last year compared to yesterday. What stood out is that he recorded 7 tackles in round one 2014 compared with 0 yesterday. He also recorded 9 more hitouts last year. Total disposals, effective disposals, clangers, and FF/FA count all look the same.

All that said, SC isn't a game of pure numbers. It's tough to compare games because it's all about when a player stands up and gets more weighting on his actions. I agree with L&L here, patience is key. Stick by your premiums

    Gold Rush · 06/04/2015 at 00:51

The lay of the land is what counts.

Dustbin Feltchers · 05/04/2015 at 23:02

hey jock…think the site needs a scouting report for each game…so we can all put our two cents in…rather than having 602 comments each week. Happy with Rich and Saad and McIntosh, not so happy with Newnes or Ibbotson, he seemed to be following Westoff around all game.. will this be his role? if i wanted a tagger for 50's, i could have picked Clancee.. only round one.. no panic on 1936 with Clark to go..

    dognino · 05/04/2015 at 23:38

Vandenberg and Heeney were good too. Rich looked very good, with rocky out I think he will give consistent output too. Makes me sad I didn't pick him.

      BundyBear · 06/04/2015 at 01:20

Dont be sad. You are doing better then me. Have 1845 so far. Only have Sam Mitchell and Jimmy Bartell to go. I did make the mitake of picking Clancee . I didnt know he would tag Boak.

    2000 Id say

On 1908 danger captain and 2 to play J.Kelly and M.Clark

      Hope to crack 2000 taday.
Missed big rookie scores and sadly went Rocky over Ablett

        Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 10:53

Ive had a shocker also. Decided to take Mumford as captain instead of Ablett. His selection in my team was purely based on MASSIVE scores first 3 rounds so i had to just back him in. Ruck rules have hurt me

          Dean · 06/04/2015 at 19:58

If you selected GAJ as your vice captain (Loophole), after seeing his final score of 119 then your asking for trouble chasing higher scores with other players. My rule is if my VC scores 110+ TAKE THAT AS YOUR CAPTAINS SCORE, its silly or greedy chasing higher scores.

Many who had GAJ as there VC were not happy with his 119 so they chose to make Rockliff, Parker, Mummy and Fyfe to name a few as there Captain and it backfires more often then not.

Bloody love round 1, tipping/SC scores are all over the shop. My two cents? Take a deep breath community. Far too much talk of sideways trading going on. Chasing last weeks points will only have you out of trades and out of the hunt way before league games end. This hasn't been a high scoring round.

Back in your premiums, back in your months of research. Don't stress!

    I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 08:42

Great advice Kev. Give them at least another week at very least. As soon as You trade Griffen to wines grif goes massive! That’s just how it works

      dognino · 06/04/2015 at 09:02

Griffen and wines were 50/50 for me all pre season, I chose griff. He was sat on all game, and they did a good job to keep him quiet, but look what happened to the rest of the GWS mids. Teams won't be able to sit on griff every week when young kids like treloar are so damaging with clean disposals. Griff will get his chance and wines will have bad games. Imo they will probly be line ball come seasons end .

        Marco_Polo94 · 06/04/2015 at 10:52

In saying that tho, Griffen is a damaging footballer and i doubt they will let him roam free. His last two games he has been tagged and he has scored 80 and 90. I know sideways trading is jumping the gun too early but jeez Walker and Wines are high on my radar. I get confused tho in the podcasts crouching one and co say to "trade ass off" early on. Wouldn't this mean plenty of sideways trades?

          dognino · 06/04/2015 at 12:30

For correctives yeah, I don't think corrective is for scoring players. Last year I missed a few rookies as I couldn't log in for each game, so I had donuts on the bench, so I used correctives early to get the right rookies in, then I lost 2 midfielders and 2 Fwds to injury/ suspension in the following weeks. I guess if griff does some serious spud action next round and scores a 50 tho, that might be a good call for a corrective , as I have 29 scoring players this week, so I shouldn't need to sideways any rookies.

    Jambo · 06/04/2015 at 09:13

I agree! This round was just plain carnage! However, how often out of the year do we have rounds like this, community? PLEASE KEEP A COOL HEAD and back your research.

      I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 09:39

Great description Jambo. Plain carnage it sure has been.

I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 09:43

With 8 games down this ruck rules change has changed the landscape big time. Only Goldy has tonned up. And he only scored 100. All the rucks who scored in the 90’s this week would have been 115+ last year

    carlashirley90 · 06/04/2015 at 10:05

Agree and the ones who went with Nic Nat TBC or Burgerboy and TBC in the ruck are ahead points vs $$$

      I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 10:16

Appears to be the case Carla. I’m happy with Goldy Nic Nat at the moment.

        carlashirley90 · 06/04/2015 at 10:18

I have Goldy and Nic Nat too 🙂

          I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 10:22

Worked well but I had plenty of spuds. KK Newnes grif Salem very disappointing

          Derek · 06/04/2015 at 11:34

I just think most of the rucks didn’t play that well.

          Godly 10 disposals, mummy 13, Jacobs 11, Nic Nat 14, Bellchambers 8, Pyke 5, sandi 11, Ryder 11, Grundy 11, leuy 10, Martin 12.

No ruckman had a heap of possession to get a big score.

            Steve · 06/04/2015 at 14:34

Think that is going to be the norm, now we need to make sure we have value for money.

            I have Goldy and TBC

It is good to have the game back, already in trouble with the misses lol

              Locked and Loaded · 06/04/2015 at 19:48

Guys CHILL OUT!! If you have gone with a premium ruck strategy stick by it I have mentioned this before. Not one ruckmen really dominated this week. The stats from this week compared to last yera equate to the same type of supercoach scores. And another thing no 'value for money' ruckmen will increase in price that much to lessen the gap on what you pay to upgrade to a gun. If I am proven wrong I will put my hand up but I am very confident

Derek · 06/04/2015 at 11:39

We’re there any rookies who snuck under the radar?

I had, Macintosh, Saad, Oxley, Vandenberg, Ellis-yollmen, miller, Heeny, Cripps, hogan, lamb and Loine.

Is there any other rookies worth following?

    I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 11:49

Anderson this arvo. He might be taking Cripps spot in my team. Cripps was puss

    OldOcker · 06/04/2015 at 11:52

Maybe Jaden McGrath. He might get a few games with Rocky out for 4-6 weeks.

      I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 11:54

Good point Ocker. I almost put him in my team. Backed out last minute

    dognino · 06/04/2015 at 12:23

I had exactly the same with brown in the backline also. Went with lambert and saad on field, 1st and 3rd highest scores for my def

    Donavan · 06/04/2015 at 18:39

Hogan looked alright, but Vandenberg was definitely the pick of the Melbourne rookies

    Danners16 · 06/04/2015 at 22:06

Tom Lamb came on as the sub and got 56

Cozza · 06/04/2015 at 12:21

Does anyone know what Newnes role was yesterday and how much mid time he had? I only saw the last part of the St Kilda v GWS game, and hardly sighted Newnes for the little I did watch. Will definitely be holding him at least one more week, but am hoping to see some big improvement.

    I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 12:52

Didn’t see much of the game & never saw him. Didn’t have much of the pill. 14 touches & half those handballs. But I’m not getting rid of him after one week.

      Cozza · 06/04/2015 at 13:39

Agreed – definitely on my watch list though. Hopefully this was just a bad round across the board

    Tylo · 06/04/2015 at 21:28

Played mostly wing Cozza, which is where you'd expect he'll spend the year.

Phil · 06/04/2015 at 14:26

Sure there's been plenty of times when Rich or Sloane have been in my team but my biggest disappointment is not selecting Brodie Smith. I talked him up all pre season as being 2015s number 1 defender and then only took him out because he had a bad NAB. Lesson for next year, only use the NAB to rate rookies, not premiums.

    Slime · 06/04/2015 at 20:05

    Totally agree Phil

Kkp · 06/04/2015 at 14:41

Hey Guys – thoughts on last minute change
Kelly to Gibson or stick with Kelly as a POD

    I N Pieman · 06/04/2015 at 14:52

I’ve got kelly. So going by this round he will score 47

CashCows · 06/04/2015 at 17:35

What is a pass mark for this week? 2200+?

    Emile · 06/04/2015 at 18:27

    I bloody hope not

      Derek · 06/04/2015 at 18:33

      I got 1999

    Cozza · 06/04/2015 at 18:35

That would be a great score. I ended up with 2048 – ordinary start

    craig · 06/04/2015 at 18:49

    2342. might be a sniff

      dognino · 06/04/2015 at 18:56

Cracker of a score first up mate

      CashCows · 06/04/2015 at 19:20

      Bang, awesome work! i managed a 2205

      Dean · 06/04/2015 at 20:17

      Gr8 score, I scored 2163

I'm just wondering you might be on one of my leagues is your team name "megawatt industries" the reason I ask this player has TBC & Grundy in there ruck and also scored 2342?

        craig · 06/04/2015 at 20:24

        yeah thats me

          craig · 06/04/2015 at 20:31

cheap ruck option and have 266K in the kitty. grundy unlucky not to score higher a few rubbish free kicks against and a few unlucky clangers

            craig · 06/04/2015 at 21:10

            came 21st

    dognino · 06/04/2015 at 18:55

    2090 here

      craig · 06/04/2015 at 19:13

yeah good start. swan was my 10th best scorer at 111. Tom McDonald gets my 3 votes, Lewis 2, Sloane 1

        dognino · 06/04/2015 at 19:20

Liked the the look of Tom mcdonald, didn't have the plums to pick him in the end

    vinnymac · 06/04/2015 at 19:22

Probably 2000+ is a pass. I scored 1971 with at least 6 of my premos scoring half of their usual output.

Nuggety · 06/04/2015 at 18:36

Christian Salem…. Could it be that INP (who has talked 90% of all decent coaches into picking the young man)….could be wrong and the guy is actually a dud??? Or do Melbourne have to lose for him to score? #he’s no kamydyn

    Wombats · 06/04/2015 at 18:47

Wasn't INP all over Jeff Garlett? No wait that was me.

      Dools · 06/04/2015 at 19:22

Is It A bird ???? Is It A Plane…. No it's a Mystery called Womby
Seagull did really good mate nice call

Seb · 06/04/2015 at 18:39

Is 2,101 an alright score for round 1?

    BundyBear · 06/04/2015 at 18:41

2102 would of been better LOL. Anything over 2000 is a good start I think

    Dennis · 06/04/2015 at 18:43

I'd say it's a decent score, and keeps you well and truly in the hunt for the big prize, I scored 2094 myself and that put me third in my league

uncle Bob · 06/04/2015 at 19:29

I need advice re T.HUNT…

Is he the real deal at Richmond?

Worth the trade after one game?

    Dean · 06/04/2015 at 21:01

NO player is worth side trading after 1 round, However if one of your players in defence is injured and going to be out for a few weeks then sure that's different. This week Hunt may only score 56 and your on field player that your thinking of trading out may score 90+

    It happens ALL the time…

Redd · 06/04/2015 at 19:29

2208 for the blazers rnd 1 dissapointed by J.Newnes Dusty A.Swallow and P.Cripps…. had vandenberg on the bench but overall pretty happy with the start. Interesting to see how many people jump of the Newnes hype train by tomorrow

    Tman · 06/04/2015 at 21:08

Great score for rd 1 mate.

Locked and Loaded · 06/04/2015 at 20:22

With Rockliff needing to be traded out this week who are those in the same boat looking to bring in for him?

Juddy · 06/04/2015 at 20:32

Sidebottom also out for 6-8 weeks

craig · 06/04/2015 at 20:46

robbo's a bit tipsy on AFL 360…classic

Dustbin Feltchers · 06/04/2015 at 20:55

is there a podcast tonight??

Hazey · 06/04/2015 at 21:03

2111 for me. Any injury update for Parker?

    Tman · 06/04/2015 at 21:07

Someone said he has been cleared on this thread. But i’ve not seen anything official yet.

Tman · 06/04/2015 at 21:06

Well done BVC. U must be on the guiness book of world records for the longest thread on a fantasy article.

this baby needs her own server, data centre and IT maintenance crew. :0)

On a side note. Round one delivered a few nasty surprises. Rocliffe, Parker and a few dud choices. Cant wait to get into putting a things right…once lockout over.

1973 was the magic number for me.

Tman · 06/04/2015 at 21:13

Speak of the devil. Lockout over :p).

Might hang onto rocliffe and deal with cash cows corrections first.

Tom · 06/04/2015 at 21:29

Hibberd to Docherty?

Dustbin Feltchers · 06/04/2015 at 21:46

Is there a podcast tonight? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?? Podcast?
