Lekdog’s Team Dissection|PORT – WB
This week Lekdog discusses which players are the best picks at Port all the way through to Western Bulldogs. He covers each position and who we should be looking at.
Lekdog covers Port Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney, West Coast and Western Bulldogs in this video extravaganza!
IÂ would love to hear what you all think so make sure to leave some comments and suggestions for topics of discussion in the comments community!
Thoughts on my team pleaseee !
Shaw, Johnson, Newnes, Goodes, Mcintosh, Saad (goddard hamling)
Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield,Cripps, Anderson, Heeney ( borkhurst, ellis yolmen, miller)
Goldstein, Nic nat (cox)
Gray, Goddard, Martin, Bellchambers, Salem, Clarke (Hogan, Lambert)
Thinking im a bit light down back let me know what you think !! Thanks ! 🙂
The job security of the defender rookies is almost non existent. Except for Nathan brown who’s not going to blow the roof off the joint. I’d remove TBC & grab a mid pricer defender. Good luck
thoughts??
Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, Goodes, Brown, Saad (hamling, mcintosh)
Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, JPK, Parker, Wallis, Cripps, CEY (heeney, touk, anderson)
Goldstein, Maric (brooksby)
Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (lamb, lambert)
Wallis Tom. Big ball. If he’s removed from tagging could be an awesome pick. Touk Miller good pick. Brown on the ground. Nup. Bench him.
i believe your backline is a little fragile, one more midpricer maybe wallis for a rookie then upgrade a back rookie
Nice Vid Lek. You might want to hit the weight room & start working on some guns. If you want to fast track the process you know the team to call.
collingwood ? 😛
Hahahahahahahahahahha Owned INP
Classic!!! High cal.diet and steaks. Lots and lots of steak
Leefe & Thomas will need to make a living somehow lol
I'm a warrior of the mind not the body Pie haha
Nice. I like it Lek. Was the mo inspired by Jock?
guys i need some help! my team atm is
d: Shaw, Kelly, Newnes, Higgins, Goodes, McIntosh (Hamling, Saad)
m: ablett, fyfe, selwood, watson, griffen, cripps, heeney, ellis-yolmen (c smith, miller, krakouer)
r: maric, dogdog (cox)
f: gray, dusty, swan, bellchambers, salem, clark (hogan, lambert)
i would like to take out higgins for hibberd, would you guys go for
higgins, watson, selwood, gray
or
hibberd, dangerfield, JPK, bartel
thanks guys
If you looking for a durable mid Watson is not the answer. His number of games & average is declining since his Brownlow year. I don’t like Higgins. Be carful with Hibberrd dodgy hammies go twang lots.
I would go higgins, watson, JPK and bartel. Hyrbrid between the two
Dont second guess yourself. All are viable options, and if it was as simple was going on previous stats, we would all be champs.
Mitch Wallis is doing a QandA on the doggies website today and he should answer what role he will play this year.
If he says he definitely wont play a tagging role he is locked into my side.
Lock as well at M6
Who should I go with out of Griffen and Wines? I'm thinking Griffen just because GWS has an easier draw, but Wines could be a bit more durable throughout the year. Thoughts?
Griffen all the way in the final H&A round of last season he scored whopping 188 points and then scoring 142 in his first appearance against Gold Coast in the NAB Challenge. id say he should be a lock in most teams.
Nicnat v Minson as my r2 behind Goldy
Minson a safer option, but I think Nicnat has the higher upside. If you haven't taken many risks across the rest of the team, maybe worth a punt.
Nic Nat, and not even close
when Nic nat was r1 at westcoast he averaged 120 points per game. he should do the same this year being the number 1 ruck.
Currently have both wines and danger in my team, as well as swallow ! Is this a bad thing ?
Gaz and Pendles m1 and 2
Possibly a premo short. Question mark on Danger, but he'll give you some big returns (Sloane more consistent). Wines is a gun and I dearly want to include him in my own side. Swallow I'm not as sold on, don't see as big an upside.
Swallow up to griffen or jpk?
I'd go Swallow up to Parker. But out of them two Griffo, if you already have GAJ and Pendles.
On another note will anyone go Ess players now? Would Hibs be a lock?
seriously considering him.
Pick 1 out of:
Ibbo
Geary
Hunt
Hendo
Pearce
WhiteX
Henderson
Geary
role a dice, assign a number for each player, whatever number it lands on go with it. If they all play, should do about the same
If you could please help me out with conundrum I would mighty appreciative:
Option 1) Go Mummy and Goldie in rucks and play 3 rookies in D (Goodes at 4)
Option 2 Go Mummy and TBC in rucks and go deeper in D (Newnes at 4)
I'm running GnR but the D has me worried. Just wish I could see into TBC future, could be worth $50k…
In the same boat as you, but think option 1 may work out,
someone will pop up, because i just cant justify the midpricers in defence,
let me know which way you decide, good luck mate!
You've answered your own question. Go with your gut and beef up defence
Sorry to ask but does anyone know what the formula is to know how much a player is priced to average?
Cheers
approximately $5,375 per SC point
Wallis or Rich??
Wallis
wells
Wells
assuming you have supercoach gold – check his break even
Dane Swan is 31 years old now and averaged 86.4 last year. His NAB average was 75.5 from 2 games. Is anyone else not sold on him?
He played most of the year with injury. Most have Swannie in there sides. So why not go with him and if he doesn't fire use him for an upward trade? At the price he is you really can't go wrong and if he fires you've got a scoring machine
He was disinterested in the NAB. I think he'll have a decent year.
Also Collingwood don't expect him to be fully fit until approximatlely round 6. Aswell as playing the same role in the nab cup as he did last season, it would be extremely risky to pick him.
pick him will avg 95 minimum more of a risk not having him
What about Bartel? is he safer
Bartel's looked great so far. Almost a certainty he'll be top 6 forward and average over 100, can't say the same about swan
thoughts on my team???
shaw, taylor, newnes, Higgins, goodes, saad (McIntosh, Goddard)
pendles, fyfe, selwood, jpk, griffen, cripps, heeney, ellis-yolmen (vandeberg, miller, lambert)
Goldstein, nicnat (Obrien)
gary, martin, swan, bellchambers, salem, Clark, (Hogan, Steele)
7.6k
got like it as very similar to mine in structure
Deliberately haven't posted a team or played around with the chopping and changing over the last few months…..just watched, listened and tried to absorb all the wisdom from these pages and from my own research……with the final week upon us I will do my own TEAM REVEAL"…..please let me know your thoughts…
BEAGLIEBOY UNITED F.C
Backs: Murphy, Hurn Taylor Broadbent Geary Whitecross (Saad, McIntosh)
Mids: Ablett Pendlebury Fyffe Martin Griffen Newton Cripps Ellis-yolmen (Cockatoo, Anderson Heeney)
Rucks: Goldstein Bellchambers (Reed)
Fwds: Gray Franklin Swan Salem Clark Hogan (Lamb Lambert)
I know that Martin should be a fwd….but I wanted as many cash cows there as possible……I know that Bellchambers is a huge risk, but if he can string 5-6 games together at the start he will be the first out and I will pick who is travelling best out of Maric, Jacobs Minson NicNat etc
…..Martin will move fwd at first upgrade…..
Wow you're definitely in contention for the POD backline of the year award.
No doubt you would only lock in WhiteX if he gets a game on Easter Monday which is probably unlikely to happen at this stage unless you've heard something that I haven't.
Your other lines are much more conventional although the jury is still out for me on whether Newton is a good pick for the money. Hopefully he turns out to be more a Dom Tyson than a Viv Michie circa 2014.
Buddy is an interesting selection and could really carve up a match underdone Bombers defence this weekend. I just wish he had a full preseason under his belt and there wasn't rain forecast at ANZ this Saturday.
yeah….WhiteX will probably be moved on once teams are announced….On Newton, I have no doubt he will be an absolute gun….Being a Port man I have watched him play for the Magpies in the SANFL week in week out and collect thirty plus posses and 10 tackles most weeks….a real hard nut who will be a champ….spitting chips Port couldnt keep him….next year Cornes will be gone and that spot was his for the next decade…..jump on him I reckon.
Love your backline. Id move Martin forward and upgrade Belly, but you've already stated your intentions. Overall pretty solid side. Wish you all the best.
Judd or Scooter Selwood?
I like Scooter a little more myself as I think he generate more cash than Juddy but neither are season long keepers but only stepping stones to elites I'd say.
Both are good picks if you need to slot in a midfield midpricer and I would also add Wells and potentially Rich to this category too.
Does anyone know what the rough formula is for working out potential price rises after X number of rounds?
I’m thinking Selwood can average 105-110, whilst Wells maybe 95 and Rich 90, but not sure who will rise the most by the time the byes come around. Also thinking there’s a sneaky chance I can keep Selwood at M8.
The price change formula is basically this Dr Spock:
New_Price = 3/4 * Old_Price plus 1/4 * Recent_Market_Value
where Recent_Market_Value = $5,375 (approx) * Average_Points_In_Last_Three_Games
It's not exact as all players prices are scaled to fit within the global salary cap each round but I reckon it's close enough.
So just whack this into Excel and you can do your own price change calculations per round.
If Scooter averages over 100 trust me you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
Thanks heaps SCaddict, much appreciated 🙂
… It’s basically coming down to Selwood at M6 and Leuenberger at R2 (his per minute scores in NAB were good IMHO) OR Rich/Wells and Naitanui at the same positions
maybe look for a wells or rich instead, similar scores, save money
Love the video Lek. Brilliant as always. Hard to say what the videos should do without knowing what's already getting done each week.
Anyone thinking of running with lids and dusty ?
Reckon it's doable but a slight Lids's durability concern tips a Bartel inclusion instead for me.
Higgins or lumumba
Parker or boak
Lumumba and Parker
Could i please have some help with my team its looking something like this:
DEF: H Shaw, Newnes, Lumbumba, koladshnij, goodes, saad. (oxley, mcintosh)
MIDS: Fyfe, parker, heppell, griffen, j steven, rich, cripps, CEY (heeney, anderson, t miller)
Rucks: Goldy, minson (obrien)
FWDS: Gray, dusty, swan, bontempelli, clarke , salem (hogan, lambert)
What do you guys think and why is no one considering d heppel for their teams?
If HepD still had his 2013 DPP eligibility he'd be in a lot of backlines but it's a bit tough to squeeze him in as a pure midfielder much like say a McVeigh.
Bombers are quite an unknown quantity with no preseason competition to speak of and have a punishing opening fortnight @Sydney and v Hawks so that would put many off starting with Dons players as Lekdog so eloquently stated in his vid.
But in general I reckon you are running with a very solid side there Bob.
Is anybody running with a team that has dyson heppell havn't seen him in any recntly?? thoughts
Read above, but IMO he is a nice POD, young gun, but will get tagged along with Watson
believe hes a great pick, reckon the pressure on him and essendon has been lifted and now can unleash
Jack Steven
was his 2013 season a fluke or is he seriously good
He's a gun
A few quick questions before lockout
Sheed or newton ?
Goddard or Bartel ?
Maric or Naitanui ?
Gibson or johnson ?
Let me know what your thoughts are (:
Hmmmm
Sheed, Bartel, Maric, Gibbo
Is it possible KK (AKA Thumper) could score simlar to Newnes?
I am really interested in taking a POD risk by leaving Newnes out. Saints stink.
Thoughts? Can someone talk me into this plz?
I'm thinking the same thing. Bruyn said this in his article yesterday:
'Newnes – Hype player of the preseason by far! A lock? I can’t see it. Not because he is a bad pick but simply because I don’t think he’ll be a top 5 defender. Isn’t cheap at all and plays for a poor side. Will feature in heaps of teams (mine included I’d say) but he isn’t David Swallow.'
IMO he won't go up much in price, even if he does average 95 or above. That's only around 490k plus. But if you do pick him and he stuffs up, you really won't have to worry cause everyone's got him and they'll all worry too
Ok, so my rationale is, if I get someone cheaper like KK, and he gets 80-90's early on (which he should, Suns are a good team this year) and Newnes gets 90 – 100. I am losing a few points to everyone there but the value of my team is going up. If Newnes spuds it up when St Kilda get flogged then I have a huge win. I guess im finding hard to pick Newnes over KK, but so so many people are on him and i dont get it! Saints stink so hard.
While Newnes will be hugely popular he's one of the supposed must haves you could probably skip on and not get too badly burnt, however the penny falls, so long as you have an adequate replacement.
I like Thumper's game a lot but will he just tread water in 2015 with the 2nd year blues like Zorko did??
So if I was going to leave Newnes out I'd probably want to spend decent coin on an alternative such as a Hurn, Kelly or Taylor.
Thumper certainly at D2 or maybe even D3 is probably leaving yourself a bit too exposed in defence imho.
Anyone got a league almost full that needs someone to join?
bob murphy and nic nat – 4,700 left
kade kol and goldstein – 26,700 left
back up ruck is TBC
2nd option is probably a tad safer. But if you're willing to take a risk go with 1.
thanks mate 🙂
KK and goldy
Goldstein, Naitanui
Maric, Minson
Can’t decide which two to pick. Thoughts?
Goldy and Minson 🙂
Nah, but if I had to pick number 1.
more upside if number 1 works (Nic Nat goes 120) and goldy does what goldy does
but safer bet is number 2, like minson should average 100 and maric should go 105-110
Is anybody running with a team that has dyson heppell havn't seen him in any recntly?? thoughts
What are the communities thoughts on Krakouer vs Steele?
Who will make money first and get a run?
Is it worth jumping on one now for a dual mid/fwd swingset with lambert to allow loopholes in both lines for the best rook scores?
Buddy or martin ??
Thinking less teams will have buddy and he may have more upside ? 🙂
Hes gonna score 15,000 points against Essendon on Saturday. Could be a good enough reason to select him over Dusty.
Mitch wallis has just said hes not going to be tagging this year is this a good reason to pick him up?
i currently have him in my side as a stepping stone to gaz
whos the best options out of dangerfield, wines, cotchin, lewis, heppell, watson and b gibbs?
Lewis is the only one of that bunch in my side although you could mount an argument for picking any of those stars really.
But for me just have a look at Jordo's scores from the back half of 2014, and much like Parker too, I reckon that bodes very well for 2015.
In order: Lewis, Wines, Danger, Heppell, Watson, Gibbsy, Cotchin.
I need a view on my team
Def: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba,Higgins,Goodes,Saad/ Goddard, Mcintosh
Mid: Fyfe, Sloane, Sidebottom, Parker, Wines, Griffen, S. Mitchell, Cripps/ Vananberg, Yoleman, Lambert
Rucks: Leuenberger, Bellchambers
Forwards: Bartel, Goddard, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan/ Lamb, Caleb
Reason for this team: Everyones defence is a bit risky this year so I have decided to go with Shaw who should average over 100. Newns who is a lock. I reckon Lumumba will definitely go up in price and bump up his average with his new club and new role. Same with higgins. Goodes will play a vital role in WB with the loss of liberatore and saad is just a playing rookie.
Mid: Ive tried to go with a lot of POD picks in my midfield who I reckon WONT attract the tag. Fyfe will obviously get the tag but his score output is to much to ignore. Sloane wont get a hard tag with dangerfield in their. Sidebottom wont get a hard tag with pendlebury in their. Same with Parker and Wines. Griffen is a lock no matter what. S.mitchell is a fallen premium. Lets not forget that this man was over 600k at the start of 2014 and then I have cripps.
The rucks is where I am most skeptical. I do not worry about leuenbergers performance in the nab cup, he will and should average 85+ if not 95+. Bellchambers is obviously going to be the number 1 ruck and should DEFINITELY average 80+ and if were lucky 90+. My plan is to get a keeper in one of them, and to trade the other one out by either downgrading someone OR by downgrading the ruckman to a returning Kreuzer in round 4.
Forward: Bartel, Goddard…… Do I really have to say anything? Swan is a fallen premium. LOCK. Then salem, clark and hogan.
I would really love some suggestions on this team and some pointers. I am confident in lumumba and higgins so dont even attempt on swaying me away from them.
Cheers 🙂
Agreed on Leuey, his per minute in NAB was solid enough for me. Haven’t seen enough of Bellchambers so speculative pick, would prefer maybe a premo ruck instead? (Although I reckon with new rules we’re paying overs for most rucks and expect many to drop in value). Looking at your team you must have a bit of spare cash?
Need a D3/D4 Player that is under 453,000 and isnt Taylor or Newnes. GO!
Lumumba, Higgins
Ibbotson, KK or Geary maybe if it’s D4? Higgins for D3 I reckon, Lumumba will get attention in season proper.
KK and pocket the cash
Totally disagree on the Essendon warning.
Their lack of NAB games will make them even more raring to go for Round 1. This, combined with the not guilty verdict, should really inspire some emotion and strong performances, and I reckon they're even a chance to beat Sydney Round 1.
honorable loss
Beams or J Lewis?
I’ve gone Lewis. Reckon he will kill it this year and can go HUGE!
agree
Beams by a mile, proven sc gun, lewis only 1 good season in a decade
A league for some readers to join
NoFatChicks (196197)
rich, wells waliis pick two
the gift, thumper, rampe savage pick two
Lambert named as an emergency.
Gets me thinking what r people's stance on picking rookies not playing rd 1??
Like to know the communities thoughts.
My thought's, if a rookie is picked to play, on the field, round 1, pick them. A non-playing rookie is a non-money maker. They can sit on the bench, but rookies are there for one thing and one thing only, making money.
Guys, can I get some help please!
Team at the moment
Gibbo, newnes, lumumba, KK, Goodes, saad (mcintosh, brown)
Gaz, pendles, Fyfe, selwood, Lewis, Cripps, v’berg, Ellis-y (heeney, miller, lambert *not playing i know**)
Goldy, Maric (cox)
Gray, Martin, swan, Salem, Clarke, steele (hogan, Lonie)
HOWEVER::::
IF I downgrade Gibson to a rookie (say Oxley as bench cover) I can upgrade a mis rookie (eg heeney) to griffin
OR- even more adventurous, I also downgrade maric to Nic nat and I can have Parker as M6
Have I gone completely insane????
Please help!!!!
Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, KK, Goodes, Saad (Hamling, Mcintosh)
Fyfe, selwood, Heppell, Danger, Griffen, Cripps, Heeny, CEY, (Vanderberg, Smith, Miller)
Mumford, Bellechambers, (Cox)
Gray, Lids, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark (hogan, steel or playing rookie)
thoughts would be greatly appreciated,
feels like christmas eve tonight.
Bob Murphy – lockity lock Lekdog
NoFatChicks (196197)
Join up, looking for a competitive league. Almost half filled up
i was wondering what people thought of my team as it stands
defence – shaw , newnes , lumumba . goodes . brown . saad (oxley , mcintosh)
midfield – pendles . fyfe. selwood. parker . boak. griffen . cripps. eliis yolman (heeny , vander .miller )
rucks – goldy . nic nat (read )
forwards – bartel . martin . swan. salem . clark . lamb (hogan . lambert)
( 118k left to spend )
i am not sure about read. i also dont know if i should stay with bartel or get gray.
Good side, not much wrong with it. One option I'd maybe consider is downgrade one of Parker, Boak or Griffen to a rookie (I don't know if all 3 will be in the top 6-10 midfielders at end of season. Maybe upgrade Goodes to Higgins and then get Gray.
I was in a similar conundrum, I had Goddard for my F1, and just tonight I upgraded Goddard to Gray.
Also if anyone is interested, 4 spots left.
NoFatChicks (196197)
i have enough cash fro gray atm should i upgrade bartel to him?
Please help me and my team, all thoughts appreciated! =D

look into researching your rookies
your missing some of the essentials
Midfield is ok for the premiums.
Your backline is weak and you need to get rid of Sharenberg, he has a knee injury and won't be back until late in the season (if at all). Look at McIntosh, Hamling, Saad for rookies in your defense. I'd also look at upgrading a couple of your key backs for some guys a bit more reliable.
Forward line, I'd look at getting rid of Laverde (not sure if he will be in R1) and Membrey, and look at Clarke and Lonie (if named).
