Really helpful once again jock
Just couple of things I need help with is picking one of:
Lumumba, Higgins, Kolodjashnij or ibbotson
And which two of these Pendlebury, beams, JPK, parker, wines, Lewis and boak
Won't be able to afford Pendlebury and another over 600k
I would go with Lumumba or Kolodjashnij.
As well as Pendles and Parker
Higgins then Kolodjashnij
Pendlebury & Lewis
Of those go with The Gift, with KKolod a close second.
I'm going with JPK and Lewis this year.
Sorry but who is the gift?
Lumumba, God's gift to the earth
Who's the gift?
i think the gift is lumumba as he called himself a prince. thats my guess
the "Gift" & "Thumper"…I love this community
Mate I would take defenders in the teams that are likely to be good therefore ibbotson and Higgins. With regard to premiums take those that can score regardless of a tag and that is pendles, JPK, Lewis, Boak
Boak struggles with a tag dude
Why not make your own decisions???
Sure seek advice on structure if needbe – but wouldn't you like ownership of your own decisions in relation to players??
No one on here can safely predict who will score the most out of Lumuba, KK, Higgins or Ibbotson norcan they tell you who the best combo out of Pendles, Beams, JPK, Parker, Wines, Lewis or Boak would be??
Grow a set of kahunas and make a decision for yourself!!!
Always brilliant jock, all preseason you have been incredible! Itching to start the season.
Quick question, is there a good justification on putting Robbie Gray at m5 and using the vacancy in my forward line on a mid pricer. I'm worried about midfield midpricers and I feel like it could come in handy with trades. Thanks.
Personally Tom I reckon not having Robbie Gray would be worse than having him in the midfield. I wouldn't do it just for swing factor but if it was because you actually prefer the mid pricers in the forward (like you stated) then I'd say why not.
As soon as your done with those mid pricers though I'd be switching him into the forward line and getting a genuine midfielder in there.
Love the idea of gray at m5. Adds flexibility to structures as can swap in and out of fwd line with other Dpp. I currently have Swan as m6. Everyone will have these 2 so it adds a POD to their obvious selections
Please?? All you are doing is wasting spots in your midfield and weakening your forward line. You don’t need to be swinging blokes between lines till mid season. Utter nonsense imo!
if you have Lambert in the mids, you have your swing set anyway
Good stuff jock always love the cheat sheets for quick and easy info
You are a legend among men Jock, thank you.
Like a beacon in bloody foggy conditions; the Rookie Cheat sheet will bring us into safe harbor.
Bloody brilliant Jock!
but no Touk Miller? Pretty sure Eade said he would play round 1 and looks to be quite a player
Agreed, Miller is a mid rookie bench lock, if there is such a thing…
Miller could be the defencive forward for Gold Coast. Which could mean lower scores than other midfielders. I'd look elsewhere at other rookies
be intersting to see him named. Pundits said with gazza out he was a monty
used to play with this kid for local footy. Gonna be a star.
857375,
Just started up a league for readers of Jock Reynolds,
Quality teams wanted to join, be quick
Thanks Krusty, the Happy Hawkers are in.
Im in!
I'm in..(I hope)
Wino United
( formerly "The Filth")
Mason cox is $102,400 not 150k Jock. Bloody brilliant work though mate!
thoughts on freeman?
Might get a gig because of Levi Greenwood's injury but I still don't see he scoring well
Won't feature early, may be a good mid-year downgrade target.
I reckon he is overrated.
Brilliant stuff Jock. Need your help community! Best midfielder under 580K??
Parker, Wines, Boak, Lewis are all around that price.
Parker, wines, Dangerfield, Griffen, Lewis, boak (I know parker and Lewis are just over in case you could afford them
Need help guy, Danger or Sloane?
Sloan, no contract talks hanging over his head, and I think was starting to take over the mantle from Dangerfield last year, as best Adelaide mid.
Sloane is also due to a contract this year.
Fact is he is more likely to resign and doesn’t get a mention in the Vic news .
I'm going with Sloane personally. Danger has the contract looming over his head, and will always cop the tag leaving Sloane to go nuts.
DANGER, much higher upside, cheaper cost
Outstanding work Jock!
Definitely given me a sense of comfortable satisfaction
Thoughts on Ciaran Byrne? Has FWD/DEF eligibility and pretty sure he was promoted from the rookie list
We dont need another Burn-man, or even a Byrne-man.
Jock. After the decision today how many Dons will you be looking at swinging into your starting lineup? The likes of The Pig Hibberd, Watson, Heppell even Hooker have all of a sudden become more relevant and possible POD selections. Thoughts?
I would put them all on the possible upgrade list. They havent played a NAB challenge match, so expect a slow start.
I don't reckon that matters. a Lot of Guns from most teams have only played one NAB match. I'm sure the Bombers having been playing intra club matches. Hibberd is now locked and loaded into my team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Snap! Just locked him in today.
I feel Watson will let oit his emotions and explode first few rounds. Essendon will be rusty so I’m hoping Hibberd will be doing a lot of ball carrying out the back.
god could it be possible that hibbo and watson will be PODs? they will hit the ground running with a lot to prove.
No love for Touk Miller, Jock?
Surprised me too Sam. Declared a certain round one starter today. He’s in my team. Has been for a long time
mine too
Might mean less people have him lock in my opinion.
Guys need some help! Who will be the top 2 defensive mid pricers (300k to 380k) ??????
Sutcliffe and Kolo
I would say Thumper (KK) and Geary
pretty much all irrelevant
Rohan Bewick.
Thumper and ibostson
39k left would love some opinions on my team…
Back: shaw, newnes, Lumumba
goodes, oxley, mcintosh (hamling, saad)
Mid: ablett, fyfe, parker
wines, stevens, rich
newton, cripps (Anderson, heeney, CEY)
Ruck: goldstien, maric (read)
Fwd: gray, martin, bennell
TBC, salem, clark (Hogan, lambert)
Cheers schmit
I honestly wouldn't change a thing, looks the goods!
Oxley over Macintosh for me.
Couple more years under his belt, better job security.
Lewis or Parker?
both guns, both priced on the high side following great 2014 seasons, slight edge to Lewis, because he has been a better player for longer, whereas Parker bust onto the scene, and maynot be able to back it up now there is expectation to perform.
yeh all true. in saying that tho i believe both will be top 10 midfielders this season. i had to choose once once i was set on bringing gary back in 🙁
Lewis is about to turn 29 and only hit a 100 average last year for the first time. Would not go near at this price.
Parker for me. Last yr was the first yr Lewis averaged over 100! Close one though.
Both!
thoughts on steele JOCK the great
I have him in my team ATM have to wait for sides to be announced will score well if given TOG.
Google his name and you'll find an article written in the Sydney Morning Herald earlier today. Jack Steele himself says he isn't ready to play just yet, which isn't a good sign,
pick two out of
Parker, Lewis, Beams, JPK, Griffen
JPK and Griffen
beams, jpk
JPK – will improve due to injuries last year.
Parker – breakout age and very high average towards the end of the season.
Beams, Parker.
Just to cinfuse things even further for you…. Lewis & Griffen
Really need feed back please community.
H.SHAW,LUMUMBA,NEWNES,HIGGINS,SAAD,GODDARD. Bench: HAMLING,MCINTOSH
PENDLES,BEAMS,FYFE,PARKER,JUDD,CRIPPS,COCKATOO,HEENEY. BENCH : STEELE,ELLIS YOLMEN,VANDENBERG
MINSON, MARIC. BENCH: REID
GRAY,BARTEL,SWAN,MARTIN,SALEM,CLARK BENCH: KRAKOUER, LAMBERT
Def – Good except Goddard unlikely to get an early game, Oxley is more likely i think.
Mid – Not sure Cockatoo will get an early game, particularly given the opposition Geelong face early.
Rucks – solid
Fwd – Great, but Krakouer hasnt yet been upgraded, doesnt mean you cant have him on your bench, just be aware that until upgraded his value wont increase.
It’s worth noting Krak needs a long term injury to get elevated. They don’t have any at the moment
Thanks mate, really appreciate it.
hey guys, looking to fill the last few spots in our league, so feel free to join
579819
Cheers
I'm strongly considering Dale Thomas, finally seems to have recovered from injury and has had a full pre-season. Averaged 109 four years ago, been affected by injury since then. I know he burnt people last year but he clearly wasn't 100%. Anyone else looking at him?
The only people looking at him will be the sheilas if he’s grown his hair back. Could be analagous to that bible story I suppose.
out: minson / swan
in: bellchambers / adams
should free up enough cash to upgrade judd / lumumba / higgins to premo's
I’ve done the same thing. Worth the risk I think.
Lumumba or Hibbo
Lumumba obviously saves some coin
Yea……………. But Hibbo is much better!
Hibbo every time
plus the prince is a knob
great stuff Jock might help us put our finishing touches on our teams, speaking of which little help community with the two scenarios
taylor and the bont (he has big shoulders may be able to carry who ever sits on him)
or
Thumper and Bennell (would love martin but funds wont stretch that far – think bennell may be right in the breakout category and could def finish top 10 fwd.)
Thoughts?
Bellchambers, worth a punt?
Took lycett out for him, but dunno…
Yes, the extra money means one more locked gold premo elsewhere. I read yesterday Lycett’s hit-outs to advantage were very low. So his average won’t be as good as hoped.
You're the coach… Follow your instincts mate!
Which two of these Dangerfield, wines, Parker and Lewis
danger on top but cant go wrong
think lycett could be the one but hard to ignore tbc at $300k only needs to score 57 or more pw to go up – surely a first choice ruck could go 80 plus.
I had lycett locked in then put bellchambers in, dunno tho…
I reckon its worth the risk especially with Kruezer to fall back on in TBC goes down early.
It depends on whether that $100k extra is better spent elsewhere.
in short, choose Lycett for stability. TBC for risk and reward.
Lycett is a $450K-500k player
TBC is $400-450K
anyone have league codes they will give to me :)?
524635
Need peoples opinions on this for my M5 and M6 spots:
A Swallow + Judd
or
Griffen + Steven?
A
Swallow, Judd
100% Griffen and Steven, higher ceilings and potential keeper in Stevens
Is anyone considering Burgoyne in DEF? Haven't heard a peep about him but I feel he could be a top 5 DEF with his dual status..
Back your gut feeling.
For me he scores well in big matches because when the Hawks are under pressure Burgoyne gets a run in the centre bounces. But in matches where the Hawks are coasting Burgoyne is used sparing in the middle, and along with many of the other senior Hawks players is managed. For this reason he is not in my team.
Thoughts on Hurn in defence. Thnx
Has a big role this year not only as captain but with so many defenders injured and retired. He could embrace it or crumble with that workload. I’d save coin and go Sheppard if you want an eagle that will rise in value. He’ll play every game.
Any sign of a Mad Mick team reveal?
<crickets chirping>
<random cough in the audience>
Always keen to see the Madmans work!
First 3 articles were very interesting. Would be nice to see what would be the 4th and final before lockout.
Anybody have super coach leagues with spots to fill? Hoping to join some with serious players rather then mates, cheers
Join my league! 6627277
627277 I mean
Jester Fc (Fantasy Legends) 627814. Would love to take you on Flanno, and anyone else in the community. Would love to contest some serious players this year
Plenty of spots in these league that need to be filled.
524635
Anyone rate Ricky Henderson??
Tossing up between him and geary as D5
I'd go Hendo
hendo
Thoughts on my team community? any advice would be great!
Backline: Shaw, Gibson, Taylor, Newnes, Goodes, Saad (Mcintonsh, Goddard)
Middle: Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Parker, Griffin, Cripps, Cockatoo, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Freeman, Miller)
Rucks: Mummy, Maric (Nakervis)
Forwards: Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonnie, Lambert)
Looks good!
You have 14 keepers from what I can see……………same amount as my team.
I do however have GAJ as one of my 14. I'm assuming you don't have much coin left if you have 14 keepers and thus you just need to be mindful of how difficult it will be to get GAJ in with limited funds.
Yeah i only have 34k left over, im just a bit worried to start with Gaz as he could be eased into match fitness and may leak some money but yeah big risk not going in with him.
Thanks for your reply though!
any chance of you showing us your team Rocksta
I think my team is ready. Tell me if you agree.
First up grade will be best defender by no later than round 4 or 5
Wish I could have Gibson, and Buddy. Think they will be early targets for my team. $30 left. Not that it matters to much yet but bye structure is 10, 9, 11, but with 3 perm mids out R12.
DEF. Simpson, Newnes, Higgins, KK, Goodes, McIntosh, (Saad, Hamling)
MIDS. GAJ, Pendle, Fyfe, Jelwood, A.Swallow, Sheed, Cripps, Cocka2, (Heeney, CEY, Miller)
RUCKS. Goldy, Nic Nat, (O'Brien)
FWD. Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clarke, Daniel, (T.Lamb, Lambert)
it"s $30K left.
I can swap KK for Gibson if i swap Goldy for Maric and still have $25K left
Ready
Hey guys please join my supercoach league: 627277
This is the first time I’ve created a league and I wish to fill it with people obsessed with fantasy football!
I'm having a real dilemma over my R1. Who do you think is a better option; Jacobs or Mumford? I know Mummy has an easy start and can go huge, but is injury prone and the new system doesnt favour his scoring as much. Help would be nice
99pts in a half of footy says to me Mumford isn’t worries about new scoring system.
I have Robbie Tarrant over Hogan atm, surprised he didn't make the list Jock.
Jock is hiding a few gems for the paying member sme thinks
He will not get much game time at North, their team is hard to break into without many injuries, melb is much weaker team hogan will play plenty
Good evening all, please help…
A} Maric and Ibbo
or
B} Bellchambers and Hibberd.
B
Wow. Jeez. The scoring potential is far greater in A.
Looking at the B-sides in these comparisons: Ibbo and Belly probably will have comparable highs and lows. Who more consistent highs? NO IDEA. Injury-proneness is a push.
On the A side, Maric will most definitely have a higher scoring average than Hibberd. SD leans towards Hibberd.
I don't like TBC but like to avoid Freo defenders.
Hate to say Steve, this is a gut call. Think if pushed I would go B.
Yeah I'm pretty surprised Tarrant has barely rated a mention at all this preseason.
Has played every NAB game with decent output and his captain is calling him a near certainty for round 1. Could be rejuvenated with a new role in defence.
I don't expect him to set the world on fire but if he makes the Roos final 22 this weekend he's a lock on my forward bench.
Bench lock makes sense, SCaddict, although would you be looping him with Hogan. Seems you would have 2 folks who may be more underwhelming than you like. Or would you consider him over Hogan? What you figure his average would be (or like it to be)?
I don't think a 50-60pt average for Tarrant down back would be an unrealistic expectation. While you obviously can't place much too much stock in preseason output he did average 59 from the 3 games from just 50% TOG.
As a key back I don't see him as much of vest risk either at least compared to other options like Krakoeur, Lamb, Lambert or in the midfield Miller, Anderson, Cockatoo or Heeney.
As such I believe his JS if he can stay healthy is better too so you have to weigh all this stuff up and not just go purely on potential upper ceiling averages when picking your rookies. You could mount a similar argument for picking Brown on your defensive bench over other options like McIntosh or Hamling who could end up being in and out of their team's best 22.
Well said mate…
Spot on, my man!
And with Lambert being listed as an EMG, think he makes more sense. Lambert will get time soon (may even be a late sub) so not the worse to pick and wait. But may go for the JS from the get go…may have to do the same with Brown in the back line (although KMac makes that less necessary).
Hey guys, have finally got my team to a point of comfort. Would love the community to tear it to shreds..
Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Higgins, Goodes, Saad (McIntosh, Hamling)
GAJ, Fyfe, Beams, Griffin, Swallow, Rich, Cripps, Heeney (CEY, Miller, Steele)
Goldy, Maric (Cox)
Goddard, Buddy, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Lambert)
Not my favoured structure but can't argue with the cattle selected, Nolz. Best of luck for 2015
Cheers Kev!
Someone tell me I'm crazy and talk me out of this….years of experience have told me otherwise but I can't help but entertain the idea.
Move a Swan, or Gray to the mids, to take advantage of the surplus rookie forwards who I believe will out-perform the mid rooks this year.
Later in the season move Gray or Swan back in to the forwards and upgrade to mid premiums?
Yeah either that or just place Lambert on your midfield bench which is one of my potential team configurations depending on selections on Thursday.
Agree with SCaddict. That the easier move. I may MAY put Krak on my mid bench as a swing AND loop for my bench rooks. Think Krak will get some time down the line but if not, I can use him from time to time to get the better score between Heeney and CEY/other rook.
I’m doing the same throttle. I have Lambert on my forward bench with only one onfield rookie in the forward line. Thus, having a DPP Mid/fwd on my mid bench is very important. I was going to use Jack Steele, but doesn’t look like he’ll play and thus best to save the cash…………and give you another emergency/captain loophole avenue as you say.
As you, I also think he will get elevated at some point in the season.
I think Steele will get a shot, Rocksta. Got a 87 N2. Maybe after R5. We do need some rooks for downgrades and think he'll be a good one.
Have a league with a couple openings: 192108
Bring it on!
You got me with my last spot.
Cheers Mate.
Sweet! That makes me very happy that I'll be doing battle with a coach of your caliber, Ocker.
Don't think I will bother you too much mate my team seems to be a bit generic,
Just trying to get on this Twitter thing. OldOckerOO.
Bloody social media is not for me..
I'm not super big on social media. But what I like about Twitter is that it's an easy way for me to talk with many of my footy friends and receive information about things I'm interested in. I don't do a lot of tweeting just to be tweeting. Mostly passing along an article, funny lines or getting in a discussion with one of the community.
Food for thought, Ocker.
Yeah me too mate, It will get very little use. Just to keep up with footy info from around the place.
Just might find that golden nugget of information that helps.
Thanks throtts, I'm in – looking forward to the challenge.
Sweet Gold Rush. Look forward to locking horns with you.
Anyone putting Brad Sheppard into their team???
Doesn't seem like many, Shezza. 2% so far. Considered him for a split second but moved on. Hasn't gone 15+ games and usually want that for someone at that price (2nd years being the exception if they came in late).
Speaking of that, what's your thoughts on Nick Haynes. Does well but hasn't gone a full season yet. Very promising scores last season and NAB. Patfull and an emerging Hampton could make it easier on him.
I haven’t selected him. He looked good in the pre season but rebounding defenders Shaw and Hampton, I’m not sure what his role would be. I guess, like most, we need to watch closely his first two games and if someone such as “The Gift” or KK is not performing, maybe trade?
Yeah, that's the land of the corrective. Leaning towards KK. But if Sheppard, Langdon, Haynes, Bewick or others go off, then can make the move.
Hibberd or Simpson?? The last decision to be made (for today).
Simpson
Line ball, Rick. Don't reckon the bombers will be that underdone as many are claiming. They'll come out breathing fire. Simpson for (semi) consistency, but if you're short 10k elsewhere having Hibbo wouldn't be the worst thing
Gibson
I reckon Simpson…
I think my team is ready. Tell me if you agree.
First up grade will be best defender by no later than round 4 or 5
Wish I could have Gibson, and Buddy. Think they will be early targets for my team. $30K left. Not that it matters to much yet but bye structure is 10, 9, 11, but with 3 perm mids out R12.
DEF. Simpson, Newnes, Higgins, KK, Goodes, McIntosh, (Saad, Hamling)
MIDS. GAJ, Pendle, Fyfe, Jelwood, A.Swallow, Sheed, Cripps, Cocka2, (Heeney, CEY, Miller)
RUCKS. Goldy, Nic Nat, (O'Brien)
FWD. Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clarke, Daniel, (T.Lamb, Lambert)
I can swap KK for Gibson if i swap Goldy for Maric and still have $25K left
Man with a plan, Danny. I like it. Can't see a lot wrong with that, maybe Lonie over Daniel (depending on team sheets of course).
Maric lone ruck at the Tiges, swapping him for Goldy is not a bad move.
good looking team.
you could squeeze a few more dollars if you have Cox instead of O'Brien at F3. the extra $15k will give you enough to get Gibson. (I would go Shaw instead of Gibbo)
