Really helpful once again jock
Just couple of things I need help with is picking one of:
Lumumba, Higgins, Kolodjashnij or ibbotson
And which two of these Pendlebury, beams, JPK, parker, wines, Lewis and boak
Won't be able to afford Pendlebury and another over 600k

    @brycewhitneyyy · 31/03/2015 at 22:03

I would go with Lumumba or Kolodjashnij.

    @brycewhitneyyy · 31/03/2015 at 22:03

As well as Pendles and Parker

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:09

    Higgins then Kolodjashnij

    Pendlebury & Lewis

    scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:20

Of those go with The Gift, with KKolod a close second.
I'm going with JPK and Lewis this year.

      Sully321 · 31/03/2015 at 22:32

Sorry but who is the gift?

        scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:37

Lumumba, God's gift to the earth

      Ck · 31/03/2015 at 22:33

      Who's the gift?

        schmit · 31/03/2015 at 22:36

i think the gift is lumumba as he called himself a prince. thats my guess

          derek · 01/04/2015 at 08:57

the "Gift" & "Thumper"…I love this community

    Squawking_Hawk · 31/03/2015 at 23:07

Mate I would take defenders in the teams that are likely to be good therefore ibbotson and Higgins. With regard to premiums take those that can score regardless of a tag and that is pendles, JPK, Lewis, Boak

      Marco_Polo94 · 01/04/2015 at 10:30

Boak struggles with a tag dude

    Matt · 01/04/2015 at 11:11

Why not make your own decisions???
Sure seek advice on structure if needbe – but wouldn't you like ownership of your own decisions in relation to players??
No one on here can safely predict who will score the most out of Lumuba, KK, Higgins or Ibbotson norcan they tell you who the best combo out of Pendles, Beams, JPK, Parker, Wines, Lewis or Boak would be??
Grow a set of kahunas and make a decision for yourself!!!

Tom · 31/03/2015 at 22:01

Always brilliant jock, all preseason you have been incredible! Itching to start the season.
Quick question, is there a good justification on putting Robbie Gray at m5 and using the vacancy in my forward line on a mid pricer. I'm worried about midfield midpricers and I feel like it could come in handy with trades. Thanks.

    Phil · 01/04/2015 at 01:06

Personally Tom I reckon not having Robbie Gray would be worse than having him in the midfield. I wouldn't do it just for swing factor but if it was because you actually prefer the mid pricers in the forward (like you stated) then I'd say why not.
As soon as your done with those mid pricers though I'd be switching him into the forward line and getting a genuine midfielder in there.

    Jesterhawk · 01/04/2015 at 02:10

Love the idea of gray at m5. Adds flexibility to structures as can swap in and out of fwd line with other Dpp. I currently have Swan as m6. Everyone will have these 2 so it adds a POD to their obvious selections

      Liam · 01/04/2015 at 06:50

Please?? All you are doing is wasting spots in your midfield and weakening your forward line. You don’t need to be swinging blokes between lines till mid season. Utter nonsense imo!

        derek · 01/04/2015 at 08:59

if you have Lambert in the mids, you have your swing set anyway

        Motsy · 01/04/2015 at 16:32

considering there is 6+ very decent forward rooks and only 3ish locks in the mids, I am 100% for putting a swan or gray in the mids. I've done it myself.

Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 22:02

Good stuff jock always love the cheat sheets for quick and easy info

Anthony · 31/03/2015 at 22:04

You are a legend among men Jock, thank you.

Ageneral3 · 31/03/2015 at 22:05

Like a beacon in bloody foggy conditions; the Rookie Cheat sheet will bring us into safe harbor.

KJU FC · 31/03/2015 at 22:06

Bloody brilliant Jock!
but no Touk Miller? Pretty sure Eade said he would play round 1 and looks to be quite a player

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:12

Agreed, Miller is a mid rookie bench lock, if there is such a thing…

      Redgumwon · 01/04/2015 at 10:16

Miller could be the defencive forward for Gold Coast. Which could mean lower scores than other midfielders. I'd look elsewhere at other rookies

    yurkins · 31/03/2015 at 23:41

be intersting to see him named. Pundits said with gazza out he was a monty

    lll · 01/04/2015 at 11:17

used to play with this kid for local footy. Gonna be a star.

700 Krusty Burgers · 31/03/2015 at 22:07

Just started up a league for readers of Jock Reynolds,

Quality teams wanted to join, be quick

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:12

Thanks Krusty, the Happy Hawkers are in.

    chase · 31/03/2015 at 22:20

    Im in!

    Filthy · 01/04/2015 at 08:02

    I'm in..(I hope)
    Wino United
    ( formerly "The Filth")

Crabb · 31/03/2015 at 22:08

Mason cox is $102,400 not 150k Jock. Bloody brilliant work though mate!

chris · 31/03/2015 at 22:10

thoughts on freeman?

    Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 22:19

Might get a gig because of Levi Greenwood's injury but I still don't see he scoring well

    scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:22

Won't feature early, may be a good mid-year downgrade target.

    Rocksta · 31/03/2015 at 22:27

    I reckon he is overrated.

    I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 22:38

Very little being spoken of him playing round one. Maybe later

tom · 31/03/2015 at 22:10

Brilliant stuff Jock. Need your help community! Best midfielder under 580K??

    scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:22

Parker, Wines, Boak, Lewis are all around that price.

    Sully321 · 01/04/2015 at 18:07

Parker, wines, Dangerfield, Griffen, Lewis, boak (I know parker and Lewis are just over in case you could afford them

Brett · 31/03/2015 at 22:10

Need help guy, Danger or Sloane?

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:16

Sloan, no contract talks hanging over his head, and I think was starting to take over the mantle from Dangerfield last year, as best Adelaide mid.

      higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 22:18

Sloane is also due to a contract this year.

Fact is he is more likely to resign and doesn’t get a mention in the Vic news .

    scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:23

I'm going with Sloane personally. Danger has the contract looming over his head, and will always cop the tag leaving Sloane to go nuts.

    harry · 31/03/2015 at 22:27

DANGER, much higher upside, cheaper cost

Viscount · 31/03/2015 at 22:12

Outstanding work Jock!

Definitely given me a sense of comfortable satisfaction

KJU FC · 31/03/2015 at 22:13

Thoughts on Ciaran Byrne? Has FWD/DEF eligibility and pretty sure he was promoted from the rookie list

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:17

We dont need another Burn-man, or even a Byrne-man.

      I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 22:40

      Nice Donovan

Rascal · 31/03/2015 at 22:13

Jock. After the decision today how many Dons will you be looking at swinging into your starting lineup? The likes of The Pig Hibberd, Watson, Heppell even Hooker have all of a sudden become more relevant and possible POD selections. Thoughts?

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:18

I would put them all on the possible upgrade list. They havent played a NAB challenge match, so expect a slow start.

      Rocksta · 31/03/2015 at 22:25

I don't reckon that matters. a Lot of Guns from most teams have only played one NAB match. I'm sure the Bombers having been playing intra club matches. Hibberd is now locked and loaded into my team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        The Ranger · 31/03/2015 at 23:28

Snap! Just locked him in today.

    vinnymac · 31/03/2015 at 23:11

I feel Watson will let oit his emotions and explode first few rounds. Essendon will be rusty so I’m hoping Hibberd will be doing a lot of ball carrying out the back.

    yurkins · 31/03/2015 at 23:48

god could it be possible that hibbo and watson will be PODs? they will hit the ground running with a lot to prove.

Samuel · 31/03/2015 at 22:14

No love for Touk Miller, Jock?

    I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 22:41

Surprised me too Sam. Declared a certain round one starter today. He’s in my team. Has been for a long time

      SCOTLAND THE BRAVE · 31/03/2015 at 22:44

      mine too

        Boydo · 31/03/2015 at 23:05

Might mean less people have him lock in my opinion.

@TylerCArmstrong · 31/03/2015 at 22:14

Guys need some help! Who will be the top 2 defensive mid pricers (300k to 380k) ??????

    higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 22:19

    Sutcliffe and Kolo

    Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 22:21

I would say Thumper (KK) and Geary

    benjamin · 31/03/2015 at 22:28

    pretty much all irrelevant

    Jambo · 01/04/2015 at 12:57

    Rohan Bewick.

    Sully321 · 01/04/2015 at 18:09

    Thumper and ibostson

schmit · 31/03/2015 at 22:15

39k left would love some opinions on my team…

Back: shaw, newnes, Lumumba
goodes, oxley, mcintosh (hamling, saad)
Mid: ablett, fyfe, parker
wines, stevens, rich
newton, cripps (Anderson, heeney, CEY)
Ruck: goldstien, maric (read)
Fwd: gray, martin, bennell
TBC, salem, clark (Hogan, lambert)

Cheers schmit

    scrofl · 31/03/2015 at 22:43

I honestly wouldn't change a thing, looks the goods!

higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 22:17

Oxley over Macintosh for me.

Couple more years under his belt, better job security.

sean · 31/03/2015 at 22:20

Lewis or Parker?

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:27

both guns, both priced on the high side following great 2014 seasons, slight edge to Lewis, because he has been a better player for longer, whereas Parker bust onto the scene, and maynot be able to back it up now there is expectation to perform.

      Marco_Polo94 · 01/04/2015 at 10:33

yeh all true. in saying that tho i believe both will be top 10 midfielders this season. i had to choose once once i was set on bringing gary back in πŸ™

      PAB · 01/04/2015 at 16:00

Lewis is about to turn 29 and only hit a 100 average last year for the first time. Would not go near at this price.

    @TylerCArmstrong · 01/04/2015 at 10:52

Parker for me. Last yr was the first yr Lewis averaged over 100! Close one though.

    Tofor · 01/04/2015 at 12:59

matt · 31/03/2015 at 22:20

thoughts on steele JOCK the great

    Boydo · 31/03/2015 at 23:07

I have him in my team ATM have to wait for sides to be announced will score well if given TOG.

      Rocksta · 31/03/2015 at 23:17

Google his name and you'll find an article written in the Sydney Morning Herald earlier today. Jack Steele himself says he isn't ready to play just yet, which isn't a good sign,

tom · 31/03/2015 at 22:23

pick two out of
Parker, Lewis, Beams, JPK, Griffen

    matt · 31/03/2015 at 22:23

    JPK and Griffen

    lewis · 31/03/2015 at 22:29

    beams, jpk

    vinnymac · 31/03/2015 at 23:16

JPK – will improve due to injuries last year.
Parker – breakout age and very high average towards the end of the season.

    Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 08:34

    Beams, Parker.

    Avzmo · 01/04/2015 at 10:02

Just to cinfuse things even further for you…. Lewis & Griffen

andy · 31/03/2015 at 22:24

Really need feed back please community.

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 22:37

Def – Good except Goddard unlikely to get an early game, Oxley is more likely i think.

Mid – Not sure Cockatoo will get an early game, particularly given the opposition Geelong face early.

    Rucks – solid

Fwd – Great, but Krakouer hasnt yet been upgraded, doesnt mean you cant have him on your bench, just be aware that until upgraded his value wont increase.

      I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 22:44

It’s worth noting Krak needs a long term injury to get elevated. They don’t have any at the moment

      andy · 31/03/2015 at 22:52

      Thanks mate, really appreciate it.

Sulzeer · 31/03/2015 at 22:29

hey guys, looking to fill the last few spots in our league, so feel free to join

@JackLKelly19 · 31/03/2015 at 22:30

I'm strongly considering Dale Thomas, finally seems to have recovered from injury and has had a full pre-season. Averaged 109 four years ago, been affected by injury since then. I know he burnt people last year but he clearly wasn't 100%. Anyone else looking at him?

    Bloke · 01/04/2015 at 09:32

The only people looking at him will be the sheilas if he’s grown his hair back. Could be analagous to that bible story I suppose.

calvin · 31/03/2015 at 22:31

out: minson / swan
in: bellchambers / adams

should free up enough cash to upgrade judd / lumumba / higgins to premo's

    marty · 01/04/2015 at 07:57

I’ve done the same thing. Worth the risk I think.

Bailey · 31/03/2015 at 22:37

Lumumba or Hibbo
Lumumba obviously saves some coin

    Rocksta · 31/03/2015 at 23:20

Yea……………. But Hibbo is much better!

    Steve · 31/03/2015 at 23:56

    Hibbo every time

    juggs · 01/04/2015 at 21:43

plus the prince is a knob

SCOTLAND THE BRAVE · 31/03/2015 at 22:40

great stuff Jock might help us put our finishing touches on our teams, speaking of which little help community with the two scenarios
taylor and the bont (he has big shoulders may be able to carry who ever sits on him)
Thumper and Bennell (would love martin but funds wont stretch that far – think bennell may be right in the breakout category and could def finish top 10 fwd.)

chevy · 31/03/2015 at 22:43

Bellchambers, worth a punt?
Took lycett out for him, but dunno…

    Bloke · 01/04/2015 at 09:35

Yes, the extra money means one more locked gold premo elsewhere. I read yesterday Lycett’s hit-outs to advantage were very low. So his average won’t be as good as hoped.

      Dee · 01/04/2015 at 15:30

You're the coach… Follow your instincts mate!

Sully321 · 31/03/2015 at 22:46

Which two of these Dangerfield, wines, Parker and Lewis

    dannyyboyy · 31/03/2015 at 22:50

danger on top but cant go wrong

SCOTLAND THE BRAVE · 31/03/2015 at 22:47

think lycett could be the one but hard to ignore tbc at $300k only needs to score 57 or more pw to go up – surely a first choice ruck could go 80 plus.

    chevvy · 31/03/2015 at 22:53

I had lycett locked in then put bellchambers in, dunno tho…

    Jacob · 01/04/2015 at 00:55

I reckon its worth the risk especially with Kruezer to fall back on in TBC goes down early.

    cow roll · 01/04/2015 at 03:27

It depends on whether that $100k extra is better spent elsewhere.

in short, choose Lycett for stability. TBC for risk and reward.
    Lycett is a $450K-500k player
    TBC is $400-450K

schmit · 31/03/2015 at 22:49

anyone have league codes they will give to me :)?

Jez · 31/03/2015 at 22:51

Need peoples opinions on this for my M5 and M6 spots:

A Swallow + Judd
Griffen + Steven?

    Steve · 31/03/2015 at 23:53

    Bloke · 01/04/2015 at 09:36

    Swallow, Judd

      Monkey_Magic · 01/04/2015 at 13:19

100% Griffen and Steven, higher ceilings and potential keeper in Stevens

@TheNoLanguage · 31/03/2015 at 22:51

Is anyone considering Burgoyne in DEF? Haven't heard a peep about him but I feel he could be a top 5 DEF with his dual status..

    Donavan · 31/03/2015 at 23:07

    Back your gut feeling.

For me he scores well in big matches because when the Hawks are under pressure Burgoyne gets a run in the centre bounces. But in matches where the Hawks are coasting Burgoyne is used sparing in the middle, and along with many of the other senior Hawks players is managed. For this reason he is not in my team.

Caz · 31/03/2015 at 22:57

Thoughts on Hurn in defence. Thnx

    marty · 01/04/2015 at 08:01

Has a big role this year not only as captain but with so many defenders injured and retired. He could embrace it or crumble with that workload. I’d save coin and go Sheppard if you want an eagle that will rise in value. He’ll play every game.

The Ranger · 31/03/2015 at 23:04

Thoughts on my team community? any advice would be great!
Backline: Shaw, Gibson, Taylor, Newnes, Goodes, Saad (Mcintonsh, Goddard)
Middle: Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Parker, Griffin, Cripps, Cockatoo, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Freeman, Miller)
Rucks: Mummy, Maric (Nakervis)
Forwards: Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonnie, Lambert)

    Rocksta · 31/03/2015 at 23:29

    Looks good!
You have 14 keepers from what I can see……………same amount as my team.
I do however have GAJ as one of my 14. I'm assuming you don't have much coin left if you have 14 keepers and thus you just need to be mindful of how difficult it will be to get GAJ in with limited funds.

      Liam · 31/03/2015 at 23:46

Yeah i only have 34k left over, im just a bit worried to start with Gaz as he could be eased into match fitness and may leak some money but yeah big risk not going in with him.
      Thanks for your reply though!

      liam · 01/04/2015 at 11:34

any chance of you showing us your team Rocksta

Danny · 31/03/2015 at 23:26

I think my team is ready. Tell me if you agree.
First up grade will be best defender by no later than round 4 or 5
Wish I could have Gibson, and Buddy. Think they will be early targets for my team. $30 left. Not that it matters to much yet but bye structure is 10, 9, 11, but with 3 perm mids out R12.

DEF. Simpson, Newnes, Higgins, KK, Goodes, McIntosh, (Saad, Hamling)

MIDS. GAJ, Pendle, Fyfe, Jelwood, A.Swallow, Sheed, Cripps, Cocka2, (Heeney, CEY, Miller)

RUCKS. Goldy, Nic Nat, (O'Brien)

FWD. Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clarke, Daniel, (T.Lamb, Lambert)

    Danny · 01/04/2015 at 07:26

    it"s $30K left.
I can swap KK for Gibson if i swap Goldy for Maric and still have $25K left

I'm having a real dilemma over my R1. Who do you think is a better option; Jacobs or Mumford? I know Mummy has an easy start and can go huge, but is injury prone and the new system doesnt favour his scoring as much. Help would be nice

    marty · 01/04/2015 at 08:04

99pts in a half of footy says to me Mumford isn’t worries about new scoring system.

Marco_Polo94 · 31/03/2015 at 23:44

Steve · 31/03/2015 at 23:48

Good evening all, please help…

A} Maric and Ibbo

B} Bellchambers and Hibberd.

    cow roll · 01/04/2015 at 01:37

    throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 05:46

Wow. Jeez. The scoring potential is far greater in A.

Looking at the B-sides in these comparisons: Ibbo and Belly probably will have comparable highs and lows. Who more consistent highs? NO IDEA. Injury-proneness is a push.

On the A side, Maric will most definitely have a higher scoring average than Hibberd. SD leans towards Hibberd.

I don't like TBC but like to avoid Freo defenders.

Hate to say Steve, this is a gut call. Think if pushed I would go B.

SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 00:00

Yeah I'm pretty surprised Tarrant has barely rated a mention at all this preseason.

Has played every NAB game with decent output and his captain is calling him a near certainty for round 1. Could be rejuvenated with a new role in defence.

I don't expect him to set the world on fire but if he makes the Roos final 22 this weekend he's a lock on my forward bench.

    throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 05:38

Bench lock makes sense, SCaddict, although would you be looping him with Hogan. Seems you would have 2 folks who may be more underwhelming than you like. Or would you consider him over Hogan? What you figure his average would be (or like it to be)?

      SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 14:28

I don't think a 50-60pt average for Tarrant down back would be an unrealistic expectation. While you obviously can't place much too much stock in preseason output he did average 59 from the 3 games from just 50% TOG.

As a key back I don't see him as much of vest risk either at least compared to other options like Krakoeur, Lamb, Lambert or in the midfield Miller, Anderson, Cockatoo or Heeney.

As such I believe his JS if he can stay healthy is better too so you have to weigh all this stuff up and not just go purely on potential upper ceiling averages when picking your rookies. You could mount a similar argument for picking Brown on your defensive bench over other options like McIntosh or Hamling who could end up being in and out of their team's best 22.

        Dee · 01/04/2015 at 15:34

        Well said mate…

        throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 21:38

        Spot on, my man!

And with Lambert being listed as an EMG, think he makes more sense. Lambert will get time soon (may even be a late sub) so not the worse to pick and wait. But may go for the JS from the get go…may have to do the same with Brown in the back line (although KMac makes that less necessary).

Nolz · 01/04/2015 at 00:03

Hey guys, have finally got my team to a point of comfort. Would love the community to tear it to shreds..

Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Higgins, Goodes, Saad (McIntosh, Hamling)

GAJ, Fyfe, Beams, Griffin, Swallow, Rich, Cripps, Heeney (CEY, Miller, Steele)

Goldy, Maric (Cox)

Goddard, Buddy, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Lambert)

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 07:36

Not my favoured structure but can't argue with the cattle selected, Nolz. Best of luck for 2015

Motsy · 01/04/2015 at 00:20

Someone tell me I'm crazy and talk me out of this….years of experience have told me otherwise but I can't help but entertain the idea.

Move a Swan, or Gray to the mids, to take advantage of the surplus rookie forwards who I believe will out-perform the mid rooks this year.

Later in the season move Gray or Swan back in to the forwards and upgrade to mid premiums?

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 00:28

Yeah either that or just place Lambert on your midfield bench which is one of my potential team configurations depending on selections on Thursday.

      Motsy · 01/04/2015 at 00:58

      He's already there mate.

The end result would mean on field that:
      1) Heeney is replaced by Gray in on-field mids – obvious extra 20-60+ points depending on sub vest heeney.
      2) Cockatoo is replaced by Heeney on mid bench – I see no real downside here? Similar output? Similar vest risk? Similar Cash Generation?
      3) Gray is replaced by Bellchambers on field – probable 20-30 points less on field? Little to no sub vest risk, extra ruck cover. including full bye round cover if no rucks are injured tipping to avg around 85?
      4) Lamb/Lonie is replaced by Steele (elevated with swing-set) on bench, possible slower cash generation? Similar odds of being named as lonie/lamb, possible loop hole for both mid and fwd rooks if not named each week as GWS tends to play late?

Odds seem to be so heavily stacked in the favour of the latter, but for some sacrilegious reason I can't put a mid/fwd in the mids.

Downside, 30k less in the warchest.

        Phil · 01/04/2015 at 01:17

Id have Gray out scoring Heeney much closer to 60 points than 20.

Sounds good mate, I'd go it

          Kev · 01/04/2015 at 07:34

Shark move, Motsy. I like it. A lot depends on BC, he's in my team this morning but it's already nagging at me. It's gone a bit quiet on the Steele front, reckon he'll get his opportunity but may not line up round 1

      throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 05:17

Agree with SCaddict. That the easier move. I may MAY put Krak on my mid bench as a swing AND loop for my bench rooks. Think Krak will get some time down the line but if not, I can use him from time to time to get the better score between Heeney and CEY/other rook.

        Rocksta · 01/04/2015 at 07:23

I’m doing the same throttle. I have Lambert on my forward bench with only one onfield rookie in the forward line. Thus, having a DPP Mid/fwd on my mid bench is very important. I was going to use Jack Steele, but doesn’t look like he’ll play and thus best to save the cash…………and give you another emergency/captain loophole avenue as you say.
As you, I also think he will get elevated at some point in the season.

          throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 07:31

I think Steele will get a shot, Rocksta. Got a 87 N2. Maybe after R5. We do need some rooks for downgrades and think he'll be a good one.

But what I like about Twitter is that it's an easy way for me to talk with many of my footy friends and receive information about things I'm interested in. I don't do a lot of tweeting just to be tweeting. Mostly passing along an article, funny lines or getting in a discussion with one of the community.

          Food for thought, Ocker.

shezza · 01/04/2015 at 05:12

Anyone putting Brad Sheppard into their team???

    throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 05:35

Doesn't seem like many, Shezza. 2% so far. Considered him for a split second but moved on. Hasn't gone 15+ games and usually want that for someone at that price (2nd years being the exception if they came in late).

Speaking of that, what's your thoughts on Nick Haynes. Does well but hasn't gone a full season yet. Very promising scores last season and NAB. Patfull and an emerging Hampton could make it easier on him.

      shezza · 01/04/2015 at 07:47

I haven’t selected him. He looked good in the pre season but rebounding defenders Shaw and Hampton, I’m not sure what his role would be. I guess, like most, we need to watch closely his first two games and if someone such as “The Gift” or KK is not performing, maybe trade?

        throttlefinger · 01/04/2015 at 08:02

Yeah, that's the land of the corrective. Leaning towards KK. But if Sheppard, Langdon, Haynes, Bewick or others go off, then can make the move.

Rick Grimes · 01/04/2015 at 07:08

Hibberd or Simpson?? The last decision to be made (for today).

    Danny · 01/04/2015 at 07:29

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 07:30

Line ball, Rick. Don't reckon the bombers will be that underdone as many are claiming. They'll come out breathing fire. Simpson for (semi) consistency, but if you're short 10k elsewhere having Hibbo wouldn't be the worst thing

    David · 01/04/2015 at 08:14

      Dee · 01/04/2015 at 15:39

      I reckon Simpson…

Danny · 01/04/2015 at 07:29

I think my team is ready. Tell me if you agree.
First up grade will be best defender by no later than round 4 or 5
Wish I could have Gibson, and Buddy. Think they will be early targets for my team. $30K left. Not that it matters to much yet but bye structure is 10, 9, 11, but with 3 perm mids out R12.

DEF. Simpson, Newnes, Higgins, KK, Goodes, McIntosh, (Saad, Hamling)

MIDS. GAJ, Pendle, Fyfe, Jelwood, A.Swallow, Sheed, Cripps, Cocka2, (Heeney, CEY, Miller)

RUCKS. Goldy, Nic Nat, (O'Brien)

FWD. Gray, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clarke, Daniel, (T.Lamb, Lambert)

I can swap KK for Gibson if i swap Goldy for Maric and still have $25K left

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 09:50

Man with a plan, Danny. I like it. Can't see a lot wrong with that, maybe Lonie over Daniel (depending on team sheets of course).

Maric lone ruck at the Tiges, swapping him for Goldy is not a bad move.

    derek · 01/04/2015 at 10:14

    good looking team.

you could squeeze a few more dollars if you have Cox instead of O'Brien at F3. the extra $15k will give you enough to get Gibson. (I would go Shaw instead of Gibbo)

Haaay legends I'm still pretty new at this caper I was hoping somebody can explain to me the captain loop hole and put it simply because I'm easily confused I tried to do it last year and stuffed it up any help is much appreciated!

    Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 09:17

Basically what you have to do is have 1 player who will score 0, put them on your field and make them C. Have a player on your bench as E for this C, as you dont want to be stuck with a 0. Make a player who you think will score well, your VC, making sure they play before the C option.

If the VC scores well, leave it and take the doubled score.
If the VC scores badly or gets injured etc. change your C option (making sure they havent played yet) to a viable option for C who you think will score well.

      derek · 01/04/2015 at 10:06

that is the trick, make sure the 0 scorer hasn't already played, ok if your VC has done well, but bad if you cant do the transfer.

and check and double check you have the E on your good benched player. Made the mistake once last year and it cost me a top 8 spot.

    Vince · 01/04/2015 at 12:44

Thanks guys πŸ™‚ helped a lot I'm going to put the vc on Kennedy and if he fails throw it on griffen cheers and good luck for the season

I'm expecting a lot of Howls from everyone after week one and there are players who we don't have score really well, and we will be saying "I had him in my team and then took him out" at this stage I think I have had everyone in my team at some stage…..we must remain calm

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 09:29

Happens every year, Derek. Always the select few who vent with "but Jock said do this" or "John Bruyn said lock him in". Take advice on board, but back in your gut feeling

Zilla · 01/04/2015 at 09:07

Quick question Jock. Why has everyone been avoiding Wells?
Good price and could get back to best?

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 09:26

Wouldn't say that he is being avoided, ZIlla. Rich is the more popular choice in that price bracket. I also don't see him as a top 8 mid, it's a wasted trade having a mid pricer in your mids imo

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 12:43

I'm going to disagree a little with Kev. I see him as a viable stepping stone selection for certain Supercoach teams just like a Judd, Rich or Scooter. Reckon he's at least $100K under-priced and will likely generate both cash and reasonable premium (though not elite) production at the same time.

As Kev more or less said he's in no scenario a season long keeper so the tricky thing will be when to upgrade him although I suspect it would be around the byes.

You would also be assuming a durability risk in picking him just like Judd but bottom line he's very attractively priced for such a quality player and should still be an important part of the Roo's game plan.

Hi everyone,
is it too much to have all three of Boak, Wines and Grey? if so than who do i replace?

    derek · 01/04/2015 at 10:02

I know we shouldn't worry to much about the draw and who they play when it comes to the pemiums, but Port do have a tough start to the year and I think 3 might be a bit heavy.

      amateurcoach · 01/04/2015 at 10:07

Thats why im liking the look of Boak as he tends to go big against the top teams, but would it be better to downgrade Gray or swap Wines for a swallow/crouch type

    zeesus · 01/04/2015 at 12:01

Boak and Gray are good options. I think there are others to choose from around Wines price.. look for someone else i say.

derek · 01/04/2015 at 09:58

Krakouer not being elevated is a good thing. I've decided to go with Gray, Dusty, swan, Cloke, Salem, Clark, Hogan & krakouer in my Forward line. With lambert in my Mids to offer a MID/FWD swing.

Cloke is my Shark move!

I consider Cloke, Clark & Hogan all risky selections, however by having Krakouer as a loophole on the forward line, offers me some flexibility with the Emergency loophole. For the First 8 weeks, Port play AFTER Melb & Collingwood, giving me the opportunity to switch krakouer on or off the field depending on the scores of Hogan & Cloke (and Clark).

I can also swing him to the midfield (via Lambert) and offer the same loophole to the midfield rookies if I am worried about scoring of my rookies.

    Phil · 01/04/2015 at 10:40

Clarks not risky. Geelong play 3 games at Kardinia Park in the first 4 weeks, he will go nuts in at least 2 of them

      Kev · 01/04/2015 at 11:35

He ain't the most durable guy around, Phil. Clark is a smash and grab rookie imo, first rookie upgrade in my team

        derek · 01/04/2015 at 12:28

Hogan, cloke and clark could score 23SC on a bad day. Cats play the hawks first up, I'm not expecting to much from mitch.

Whoever is playing first I can put as an emergency and have Krakouer on field. If they have a poor score, I can then switch one of the other onto field and hope they score better.

          Dee · 01/04/2015 at 15:45

Do you think Krakouer will get a game before Steele? That's the question…

Morse · 01/04/2015 at 10:14

Hi Guys, the Ablett or no Ablett debate is continuing but I have done some analysis based on the assumption he will achieve approx 70% of the same score he did against the same opponent last season (Melb, StK and Geelong).

Let's assume he goes 113,129 and115 in the first 3 weeks, this is realistic considering his lack of pre-season match fitness (not bad for most players but we would expect more from GOD and a $735K spend).

This would mean his first 3 round average is 119 points meaning a significant price drop from $734,600 down to approx. $639,625 ($94,975 decrease) by round 5/6. If he then scores 130 per week for the next 5 weeks against GWS, Brisbane, Crows, West C and Pies this would bring his 8 week average to 125.87 and his price come round 9 to approx $676,575.

I think the question is not whether to start him but more importantly who is the person you will start with in round one that is going to grow in cash by $40-50K to allow a straight swap for little cash reserve and which round will you swap them for GAJ?

For me I won't be starting him but plan to bring him in by round 5.

Thoughts community?

    derek · 01/04/2015 at 10:19

remember his price won't drop until after week 3. Then the week 1 score will only affect his price for 1 week etc. Not as simple as just his average. I don't think he will drop as much as you think.

      Morse · 01/04/2015 at 10:48

You are correct and that is why his price will not drop that much until round 5/6. Do you plan on starting Gaz?

The only way his price wont drop that much even if my predictions for his first 3 round scores are correct, if he comes out round 4 and 5 with scores of 145+.

For a spend of $735, I just don't want to take that risk and it is a far more tenable position to pick up GAJ after he has had 3-5 rounds under his belt.

None the less you must have him by the time the byes come around.

      Good luck D

        derek · 01/04/2015 at 12:51

my thinking has always been, once you have a ultra premo keeper in your team, it doesn't matter if his price goes up or down because you aren't going to trade him. So if I have Gaz from week 1, I don't give a rats if his price goes down, as long as my cash cows are fattening up.

I see that you could trade him in cheaper, and as long as you have used the extra cash well, you have won the argument.

I don't think there will be enough cash generated to start the cull until at least week 8-10, so you may have to sell a cash cow early and miss out on $60-70k cash increase

          DigDug · 01/04/2015 at 13:02

Well, it does matter in Rnd 1 when you are trying to set up the best team possible for success (which means utilising your $10mil most effectively) .

If he drops 100k then it means that 100k you didn't spend on him in the meantime is the difference between getting an 80 point player vs getting a 110 point player until he drops (assuming he does).

There is very solid and valid arguments going both ways and I would pretty much give my left nut to be in the inner circle at Gold Coast right now to know how is shoulder really is.

Personally, I am starting with Gaz.

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 11:42

Is it worth not starting with him just to save 40-50k? Easy to trade away when you've got 30 in your pocket, but you'll need them in the back half of the season. Not to mention the guy you trade for Ablett has had a strong start to the season

      Morse · 01/04/2015 at 12:05

Much of a muchness Kev but I hear you and your point is valid but I think the saving will be as much as $90-100K

My view will be to trade someone like Judd or Swan (move him to MID and rookie to fwd) up to GAJ by round 6 and once some of my fwd and mid rookies have appreciated $200K plus, I will look to upgrade them to a fallen premium.

Yes trades are precious but an extra $90K round the byes will be invaluable.

I wish everyone the best of luck but based on the in-depth analysis I have done thus far, I think there is more upside to bringing in Gaz later on than starting with him based on my structures.

        derek · 01/04/2015 at 13:11

just not sure how you will get a swann to Ablett. If swann gets to $540 and ablett falls to $640, where you getting the extra $100k from. I assume it will come from culling a cash cow, but if you have a cash cow that has started to fatten up and has already gone up $100k, unless he has peaked, you may be losing money by having to trade too early. I may have the same player and can hang onto for longer until they are ready.

          Dee · 01/04/2015 at 15:51

I'm with Derek on this debate…. Great topic tho, you just have to start with the GOD mate. Or else you will cop it…

        Blueprime · 01/04/2015 at 14:21

Morse. I will be starting Gaz R1. I value a trade in excess of 100K so don’t believe I can afford not to start him.

jimmydowland · 01/04/2015 at 10:24

Whats everyone's thoughts on Daniel Rich?

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 15:05

Has promised plenty for many years but so far hasn't really delivered. I got burnt by him back in 2013 so he won't make my team but is undeniable value at his asking price this season.

grove_street · 01/04/2015 at 10:31

Now that Essendon are in the clear what are peoples thoughts on getting Watson?

    Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 10:33

Great POD. Im not willing to pick him up personally tho.

    Phil · 01/04/2015 at 10:35

i wouldn't pick him ahead of Gaz, Pendles, Fyfe or Kennedy and I don't want 5 midfielders missing Round 12. Otherwise good pick, could explode early although Essendon do have tough early fixture.

    grove_street · 01/04/2015 at 10:37

my 2 options are Rich and Selwood… or Watson and Griffen – other midfielders are Gaz Pendles Fyfe and Wines

Pete · 01/04/2015 at 10:35

Fyfe or Selwood?? Who would you go for?

    grove_street · 01/04/2015 at 10:40

Fyfe – after losing brownlow contention last year surely he'll behave and be going huge.. Whereas Selwood has less midfield support this year

      Morse · 01/04/2015 at 11:02

Fyfe, guy is a freak and he scores 90+ points 90% of the time and 100+ points 85% of the time whereas Watson has a less consistent arc.

Looking at Watsons last year he averaged 106 but only hit 90+ point 73% of the time and 100+ points 53% of the time. Take out his scores after returning from injury (as he didn't score 100+ points at all after injury) and he hit 90+ 82% of the time and 100+ 73% of the time.

Even going back to his best year (BL medal in 2012), he scored 90+ 91% of the time and 100+ 77% of the time meaning he had a lower ave than Fyfe overall and he had 5 games under 100 points whereas Fyfe only had 2 last year.

Numbers tell me Fyfe every day of the week.

        Morse · 01/04/2015 at 11:04

Sorry I miss read your comment, was comparing Watson. I meant to reply to Grove's comment but hope analysis helps none the less.

          Morse · 01/04/2015 at 11:11

I still say Fyfe over Selwood, over the past 2 seasons although Selwood's average over all games (including Finals) was 117.88 in 2014 and 117.20 in 2013, he scores 90+ points 71% of the time and 100+ points only 55% of the time.

This inconsistency is just not what you want from a $650K spend. Fyfe might not have the ceiling that Selwood can have but is far more consistent week in week out.

Only thing against Fyfe is he does tend to miss a few games dues to stupidity each season but missing out on the brown low medal will be a big motivational factor for him to pull his head in a bit this year.

            Do your research · 01/04/2015 at 12:59

However, Selwood was the highest scoring player for total points last year. Didn't miss a single game.

              derek · 01/04/2015 at 13:16

I saw Selwood picking up some "bonus" points for a few game winning goals etc. I understand that there won't be as much scaling as other years. I think this might hurt selwoods score more than other ultra premos.

                Morse · 01/04/2015 at 14:48

Agree Derek, Joel played 22 out of 23rounds and Fyfe only 18 out of 23 but Fyfe's ave over those was 122.25 and Selwood 115. I think Fyfe will play all games this year and he won't get rubbed out due to silly tackles/bumps so if he plays all games he will out score Selwood.

Fyfe is a better pick and more consistent imo.

Selwood is a must have by the end of the season but a trade up option for me in round 13.

        lm11 · 01/04/2015 at 12:54

Watson wasn't in the question, he was asking about Selwood. Watson is far more consistent and he's proven it. Last year was just due to injury.

jimmydowland · 01/04/2015 at 10:40

What’s more important, Daniel rich in the midfield at M6… or Tommy Bellchambers at F4

    Morse · 01/04/2015 at 12:05

    TBC at F4 for me….

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 15:08

I wouldn't be busting up my side to get Rich in but TBC could prove very handy in your forward line if one or both of your starting rucks miss a game here or there.

Could i please have some help with my team its looking something like this:
DEF: H Shaw, Newnes, Lumbumba, koladshnij, goodes, saad. (oxley, mcintosh)
MIDS: Fyfe, parker, heppell, griffen, j steven, rich, cripps, CEY (heeney, anderson, t miller)
Rucks: Goldy, minson (obrien)
FWDS: Gray, dusty, swan, bontempelli, clarke , salem (hogan, lambert)

What do you guys think and why is no one considering d heppel for their teams?

    Kev · 01/04/2015 at 11:31

Looks a bit light in the mids (Griff should be no higher than M5) but otherwise fine. Personally not a fan of Prince or Bont but they could pay off

        zeesus · 01/04/2015 at 12:27

Yeah i agree its a worry. Not sold on Newton either though. Anderson will get green vest at the start but hopefully makes his way into the team.

          derek · 01/04/2015 at 13:19

the hawks really love hartung as well, and Jono O'Rourke. me fear is that Anderson gets a few games and doesn't do as well as hoped, then Billy or Jono gets a run and takes their opportunity and we don't see much of Anderson again.

            Locked and Loaded · 01/04/2015 at 16:32

Fair point that… 75k less than Newton though or Derek would you be trying to find the extra cash for Newton. Not as many solid mid rookies as we're all used to

TJM · 01/04/2015 at 12:00

Thoughts on my team? I think I have finally nailed it.

Not sure on wether to pick Fyfe or Pendles though and Newton or Heeney

Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, KK, Goodes, Saad, Hamling, McIntosh
Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Griffin, Cripps, Heeney Ellis-Yolmen, Miller, Steele, Krakouer
Goldstein, Maric, Read
Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan, Lambert, Lonie

90k left. Thoughts?

    TJM · 01/04/2015 at 12:01

Or I could do Griffin up to JPK or Parker. Someone around that price bracket.

      Ryan · 01/04/2015 at 12:15

Solid team, and yes, I personally would bring in a player in the low 600's like jpk or Sloane for griffin. The rest looks real good.

    Northernsoul74 · 01/04/2015 at 14:34

Very similar to mine and looks good. Worried we're all getting sucked in to cookie cutter teams though. I told myself I'd take a chance and go with my gut this year and yet my team has slowly morphed in to everyone else's as the weeks go by.

Josh · 01/04/2015 at 12:00

is gray worth it more than bartel or goddard?

    zeesus · 01/04/2015 at 12:05

After a lot of fiddling I have sacrificed Gray. He is expensive so i might look to pick him up later. I opted for Bartel. Solid pick and then spent the rest elsewhere. Goddard could be a good POD just remember he hasn't had a playing preseason

    Locked and Loaded · 01/04/2015 at 12:51

Gray is a must in my opinion he is on another level

    Phil · 01/04/2015 at 13:53

    Beams & Dusty

    Locked and Loaded · 01/04/2015 at 12:25

Ablett will make those who haven't picked him regret it. Many are saying GC will manage him through their easier fixtures to start the season. They are games they need to win and GC need to get off to a good start. If he is managed it will be for the first maybe second game. By round 3 everyone will be stressing to get him in. Take away that stress get him in save a trade and watch him fly like usual. Maybe chuck a cheeky 50 on Ablett for brownlow also

      derek · 01/04/2015 at 13:21

Hi all, would love some feedback

DEF: Taylor, Newnes, Lumumba, McDonald, Henderson, McIntosh (Saad, Goddard)
MID: Fyfe, Boak, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Griffin, Steven, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Anderson, Heeney, Miller)
RUCK: Goldstein, Nic Nat (Read)
FWD: Martin, Swan, Bontempelli, Adams, Salem, Clark (Hogan, Lambert)

Additional questions, will Dalgleish play for Essendon?
Is Dangerfield a risk? Who would be a better option?
Is there a better FWD option than Bontempelli who is a similar price?

    derek · 01/04/2015 at 13:23

I have made my shark move and gone with t Cloke at F4. $390k.

    Phil · 01/04/2015 at 13:43

Your rookies are good, no need to change there unless not selected. Overall solid team no really bad choices which is the main thing. A few players are slightly risky, by I'm not gonna say don't pick them because they might be what puts you ahead of the pack. Those players are Lumumba, McDonald, Henderson, Steven, NicNat, Bontempelli and Adams.

I'm an Essendon supporter and I don't think Dalgleish is best 22. If named Round 1 I'd still say tread with caution because they might fancy him early due to not being underdone.
Dangerfield is a risk, but who's not? For that price imo Lewis is a better pick but who knows.
Bontempelli is probably the best pick at that price cos he is more safe than Mitchell.

Howdy good people. Can anyone tell me how we know if rookies have been elevated before the games start. Last year got caught with a few bits of dead wood on the pine and it cost me dearly. just trying not to get caught out this year. Thankyou for your input

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 14:05

If you check the club's website they will usually list rookie players separately from the seniors although having said that some clubs are a bit tardy promptly updating it. I see the Suns still have Saad listed as a rookie even though he got elevated over a week ago!

Both Goodes and Lambert also got elevated last week of greatest fantasy relevance. Krakoeur and Vandenberg are probably the two players most coaches are still waiting on their promotion to the seniors.

      BundyBear · 01/04/2015 at 14:23

      Thankyou for that.

Francis · 01/04/2015 at 14:09

Is there a better option around that 500-540k price range?

    BangersNmash · 01/04/2015 at 14:14

wines, griffen, macrae..ellis would be a POD but..

Jay · 01/04/2015 at 14:29

Super work Jock!!! Can't wait for the bloody teams to be named and lock in a team!! Too many chops and changes with all this waiting for lockout……Made myself not login to Supercoach till teams are named – only way i can get myself to stop chopping and changing my side!!

BundyBear · 01/04/2015 at 14:29

Due to leaving school at 13 a long time ago I have developed an uncanny way of not understanding how things are written sometimes. Could someone please correct me if I am wrong. Am I correct in that we can change our teams right up to lockout of each game. Meaning that full lockout for the season doesnt start till the last game starts. Or is full lockout at the beginning of tomorrows game.

    Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 14:56

You're right to chop and change players that haven't played yet, due to the fact the round spans over 3 days.

Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 14:52

So theres a bit over a day till first bounce, and I'm second-guessing picking Pendlebury. My midfield consists of: Pendlebury, Beams, Parker, Wines, Griffen, S. Selwood, Cripps and CEY. To keep or not to keep Pendles and who would I bring in for him? 44,000 to muck around with in the kitty.

    Jay · 01/04/2015 at 14:59

I had similar doubts – but then thought to myself – how does my midfield look without either Pendles or GAJ – i couldn't see myself going through with that so have locked Pendles in and I'm pretty sure come season end, he (along with GAJ) will be in the top 5 midfielders so its probably better to start with at least one of them….

      Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 15:01

Exactly my thinking. Pies supporter myself and Ive picked Pendles for the past 3 years. Feel as if Id be dishonouring him if I went in without him. Thank you for the reassurance πŸ™‚

    SCaddict · 01/04/2015 at 15:17

I like that midfield a lot mate so wouldn't fret too much. He's known as Dependlebury with good reason.

Even in 2013 when Beams was injured he still averaged 125 plus. The guy is a true champion of the game and still very much in his prime at 27 years old so I'm confident he will perform well, even if the Pies collectively struggle again.

      Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 16:19

Team is locked and loaded. The waiting is killing me though haha.

Peakey · 01/04/2015 at 15:11

Dennis · 01/04/2015 at 16:20

We seem to have a few defensive rookies popping up now like Oxley, Hamling, Saad, Brown, Byrne. Is it worth having 2 on-field rookies?

    Luviboy1 · 01/04/2015 at 16:25

Not my preference. At this point its a better idea to go in with 2-3 midpricers in defense, but thats up to you. I personally dont think these rookies will average a hell of a lot and you could utilise rookies in the other areas.

Beams, Goldy, Bartel, Murphy

How do you think he'll score first 8 round s this year? (Already got Cripps in side so I didn't mention him)

Hotplates · 01/04/2015 at 18:33

Any ideas or comments here would be much appreciated guys:

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Ibbotson, Saad (McIntosh, Hamling)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Danger, Wines, Griffen, Cripps, Anderson, CEY (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)
RUC: Goldstein, NicNat (Read)
FWD: Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Steele, Lamb)

    Dee · 01/04/2015 at 19:20

Won't have Swan this year, going against the tide with most of you lot. He's too bloody slow and doesn't give a rats ass anymore, Collingwood are gonna struggle again just like last year and when that happens he spits the dummy and plays crap footy. Swan's average last year dropped massively and for a reason….. Couple of years ago you could debate who was Collingwood's number one midfielder, him or Pendles but now the answer is obvious and by the end of 2015, he'll be lucky to be the 4th best midfielder behind Sidebottom and Taylor. Hate to say it but he's career is on the down hill slope now and I won't be picking him, anyways that's my opinion and my prediction! Gray is a lock, very strong back line but where's Goodes? I like Danger in your midfield…. Anyways overall a good team I reckon. CARN THE CATS!!!
