Jock’s Supercoach Team Reveal 2015

Published by Jock on

AFL Supercoach Legend Jock ReynoldsLadies and gentleman – I present to you JR Brumby FC 2015.

This has been as difficult a preseason as I can remember in my 37 years in fantasy footy. A lot of this comes down to the fact that we’ve got stuff all available down back – and the fact that we only have one big bloke sitting on the pine in the ruck. I want to commend all of you for the manner in which you’ve gone about things during a stressful time. I’m one hell of a proud leader as I sit here this evening.

This is my team as it stands this evening. As is the case with all of us – a bit depends on what’s handed down to the Essendon Football club. A lot still needs to play out re: rookie elevation. And there will be a few curve balls with team selection.

Having said that community – I’m ready to field my most aggressive and attacking Supercoach team this decade.

JR Brumby FC 2015

Wayno's Supercoach War Pigs

My structure: A departure from the Guns and Rookies strategy

Many will know I’ve long been a fierce advocate for pure Guns N Rookies strategy. But to stay at the very top in this caper you need to transform yourself – just like the game transforms. The simple fact is this – I do not believe that in 2015 a true Guns N Rookies structure is achievable without exposing too many bald spud rookies on field early. The risk of carrying some early donuts is huge this season – not only down back, but critically in your ruck division.

My strategy

I refuse to load my defense to D5. I’m dead set certain that too many are trying to go too deep back there with blokes they’ve conned themselves into thinking can get the job done. I don’t want to be stuck with a basket of overpriced under performing crap defensive bloody lemons.

I want to be in a position where I can pick off the quality defensive options as they emerge in the lead up to the byes. I need Ibbotson or Goodes to provide me reasonable early output – and critically – I’ll be looking at using at least one of those blokes along with a rookie as a stepping stone to the defensive options that put their hand up as the season progresses.

Selections of community debate

Scott Lycett

My point of difference folks – could turn into Tom Bellchambers of the ASADA thing clears him.

I’ve warmed to him as an option the longer the preseason has progressed. And I’m not convinced of Nic Nat’s ability to deliver in the first half of the season or spend extended stints on the ball. I’m expecting him to spend more time in the ruck this season than some are anticipating – and he’s also got more to offer as a fantasy footballer than most realise. A massive factor in my decision to run with Lycett is his FWD/RUCK eligibility. Mark my words – don’t prepare for the worst with your rucks this season and you’ll pay the price.

Daniel Rich

Been on him all preseason and I highly recommend him as a mid priced midfield option. Will run off half back and work into the midfield from day dot – and should benefit from the likes of Beams, Rockliff and Co copping the heavy attention. Don’t forget what a weapon this kid is – he’s fit – he’s hungry and I’m expecting big things here.

No Pendlebury

I’m not to keen on Collingwood at all this year folks. Today’s news doesn’t help. Predicting a hell of a tough season for the Pies. Pendles will have stuff all support around him in the guts and I believe we’ll see a fair old price reduction into the byes here. No doubts he’s a proven fantasy monolith- but too many doubts in the old scone for me to go with him. Will look for him around bye time at a reasonable discount.

Robbie Gray

Have come around to him over the past week. I’m still concerned that his price will drop early – but with only GAJ and Fyfe as extreme top enders in the guts I’m wary of the need for some robust potential C/VC fodder early if The Great Gary Ablett ends up struggling with the shoulder.

Mitch Clark

Don’t tell him this – but will be a very likely late inclusion. Leaving him out for the time being to send a very clear message to the young man.. you need to prove yourself this season son. And you need to play at least 6 games on the trot.

Big Ivan & The Flute

Very pleased with big Ivan and Minson. As Micky mentioned in the podcast – the expensive rucks will BLEED cash early because of the changed ruck scoring system. Changed scoring system taken into account – both of  these blokes are at unders – and both are capable of finishing as top 3 2015 ruckman.

What’s nagging at me

Ibbotson. Goodes. Rich. These blokes will win me the $50K – or provide me with a big arse headache.

This is as lean a midfield as I have entered a season with. I have some concern over my underpriced midfield premiums in Griffen, Swallow and Judd – and may upgrade one of those blokes if Bellchambers is let off the hook.

Look forward to the discussion community.

@Rem_Wah · 30/03/2015 at 20:11

Okay… ….I am really spit between Cripps and Newton. Can someone convince me who to pick?

    General Soreness · 30/03/2015 at 20:19

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 20:22

    Tyler · 30/03/2015 at 20:41

Cripps had an average of 101 points over nab while Newton only averaged 68…

      steve · 30/03/2015 at 20:57

68 from 58% game time mate

        Tyler · 30/03/2015 at 21:36

Even then Newton's average per 100 mins is only 117 points while cripps' average per 100 minutes is 136 points

          @Rem_Wah · 30/03/2015 at 21:46

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback – although I really am still unsure. I'll just go with my get I guess…

        Swordfish · 30/03/2015 at 21:52

        Actually, Newton scored 55 (from86%), 84 (from70%) and 65 (from68%). Average of 68 from 74.7% game time

          Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 22:49

Actually swordfish if you look at the newtons first game he was subbed out at half time so no way he played 86% game time

    WebSpyda · 30/03/2015 at 21:54

gotta have both at the start IMO

kyle k · 30/03/2015 at 20:13

Nice jock. I too am waiting on belly to see if he’s off the hook. Looks light in the mid as you say and interesting outlook on Pendles which is interesting that you keep swan if you reckon the pies will struggle.

    RobDog · 30/03/2015 at 21:14

Agree with Jock on Collingwood and have no faith that Bucks has the group, therefore no Pendles (first time without him ever!) and no Swan either. I know Swan doesn't need much to increase in price, and is a proven fantasy pig, I know he cuts sick Anzac Day, but still think Bennell will be a better F3.

Jeremy · 30/03/2015 at 20:14

I bloody love it you little ripper. Lycett? Balls of steel.

Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions?

H.Shaw – M.Johnson – J.Newnes – J.Adcock – J.Hamling – A.Saad
(A.Oxley – K.McIntosh)

N.Fyfe – J.Selwood – D.Beams – T.Boak – R.Griffen – P.Cripps – J.Anderson – C.Ellis Yolmen
(I.Heeney – A.Vandenberg – T.Miller)

W.Minson – N.Naitanui

R.Gray – D.Martin – H.Bennell – D.Swan – C.Salem – M.Clark
(J.Hogan – K.Lambert)

    RobDog · 30/03/2015 at 21:20

Looks a strong side Jeremy. IMO have gone off Anderson, Hawks too strong and will vest if picked, don't know if I'd go with Adcock and have gone with the Bont over Swan (will get close to giving you Newton over Anderson), otherwise same Forwards, which I think is a super strong line.

Brillsy21 · 30/03/2015 at 20:14

What do you guys think of hurn?

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 20:24

Good pick. M.Johnson should average slightly higher though. So will Harry Taylor probably who is cheaper.

    cow roll · 30/03/2015 at 20:41

good kick but slow. will get beaten for pace in contest.
without McKenzie as a support is a factor.

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:12

Fantastic player but misses too many games lately to attract the interest of the majority of coaches. However if he can play 20 plus games in 2015 he should reward those who take the punt on him as he's one of the best kicks in the game.

It's just there are plenty of former burned Hurn buyers out there the past few years so there is a durability risk you would be assuming in picking him much like the big Mummy.

    harry · 31/03/2015 at 02:41

almost a lock at some point to get injured in the first 5 minutes of a game and gutted subbed out under 10 sc

Matt · 30/03/2015 at 20:18

thoughts on juddy this year??

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 02:04

Should be a good pick and earn their owners some cash with a decent shot at points production in excess of 100.

However unlikely to be a season long keeper and probably more of a stepping stone to an elite I would think.

I perhaps like Scooter Selwood a little more for similar purposes but that's my own gut feel which could prove wrong.

General Soreness · 30/03/2015 at 20:19

A departure from Guns & Rookies is the understatement of 2015. Lots of Mid Priced madness in the mids has me really scratching my head. Was this put together at Bairnsdale?

You have taken hold of your plums and placed them firmly on the chopping block with your uniqueness , however I fear this will result in your eunuchness!

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 20:43

Thank you General – I'm filled with the urge this evening to encourage our proud community to look outside of their squares.

I want to set a clear precedent for the placement of community testicles upon the block.

I want to encourage everyone to have a crack at the $50K – to back in their fortifications – to try something different – to attempt to climb the mountain with a big arse unique pick axe.. not your standard issue Aussie Disposals gear.

And in the parlance of The Jock Reynolds Fantasy Footy Magazine – to be a bloody Shark!

@Seekersupacoach · 30/03/2015 at 20:19

I love the Lycett selection I've been trying to get him in my FWD line for a while

    Mike · 31/03/2015 at 20:55

He’s been in my team for a while. Now it just looks like I’ve copied Jock. Bellchambers might be the better pick now anyway.

Dwain · 30/03/2015 at 20:21

Nathan Krakouer is useless spend a little more and get Jed Anderson or Mitch Wallis.

    Tyler · 30/03/2015 at 20:43

I'm pretty sure Jock only has krak in the midfield to swing him with either Lambert, swan, martin or grey

randomcliche · 30/03/2015 at 20:21

Love the team Jock. Would you consider running Lycett and TBC with say Maric to free up $200k? Thoughts?

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 20:44

Gday there Rando – a ballsy proposition mate and one that could work. I've exposed myself to enough risk elsewhere though to consider the move and feel very comfortable to two proven warhorses at R1 & R2

Gold Rush · 30/03/2015 at 20:21

Where's Clark and Higgins Jock?

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 20:35

Clark – I've left a note in the article for him to read mate. Will likely slip into the team pre lockout. Higgins I refuse to entertain.

@TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 20:22

Love the team Jock! You are an absolute genius. Biggest concern of mine though is the slim midfield, as the midfield is where most points are scored. And 100% agree with the backup ruck in fwd line! It would be stupid going in without one.

    WebSpyda · 30/03/2015 at 21:57

Not really, If Nic Nat fires early as I expect! I can always replace him with bell balls if that is the right call at the time

Sarah · 30/03/2015 at 20:28

Dammit Jock, Lycett is my shark move!!!

    cow roll · 30/03/2015 at 20:43

mine too. would not TBC even though he's better value for money. – he's a tool and gets injured too often.

    cow roll · 30/03/2015 at 20:44

i have one more shark move and i'm glad every one has revealed their team.
have you got another one up your sleeves?

      Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 07:27

Don't think so. I've gone with a 4-4-2-4 structure, which has more midfield rookies than most peoples structures with no midpricers (which are all the rage this year)… maybe that's a shark move?!

    Northerner · 30/03/2015 at 21:39

Lycett was in my FWD line for most of the preseason as I do think the will be the highest scoring Ruck/FWD this year. However, as I have gone 2 premium rucks, I've decided to run the gauntlet and start without FWD ruck cover. If one of my rucks goes down for a long time I'll need to trade him anyway. If it's only a couple of weeks then that's when I will bring in the DPP FWD which I think will be Lycett. I'm not sure his price will change that much. Maybe Ryder could also be an option then at a lower price.

To have a DPP as late emergency ruck cover is a little fanciful as you'd need any late changes to be early round so you weren't locked out from making the necessary changes – e.g. not much good if your ruck DPP bench rookie's team plays early in the round.

      Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 07:25

It's the 'being rested' for a week type things that I'm hoping to cover with Lycett. Last year I traded Ryder for a 1 week ankle injury to Mumford, and then traded him out a week later due to his knee. If I'd had ruck cover, I wouldn't have wasted these two trades which would've been vital later in the season. All rucks miss a game at some stage. I think cover is a necessity.
You make a good point regarding the 'late outs' though, and that's always a risk unfortunately that you can't necessarily cover for.

    Mike · 31/03/2015 at 20:57

Me too. But now we’ll all be jumping on Bellchambers.

KJU FC · 30/03/2015 at 20:29

Maric or Nic Nat?

    Matt · 30/03/2015 at 20:41

    Big Ivan

    cow roll · 30/03/2015 at 20:50

great question. – Maric for consistency and he has a better team to support him.

    Ethan · 31/03/2015 at 10:40

    maric is the safe option

Tulendeena · 30/03/2015 at 20:30

What's the situation with the rolling lockout rd 1?

Does it count towards our 30 trades if we trade in between The Carlton game and Saturday?

Only relevant because the teams are announced an hour before the game T_T

    Marco_Polo94 · 30/03/2015 at 20:32

Doesn't count until end of round 1

Marco_Polo94 · 30/03/2015 at 20:31

Surprised you didn't select Wallis Jock! Don't reckon he will cut it anymore, or is it just that you prefer Rich? Solid POD team mate, not called the Father for nothing.

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 20:34

He's on the drawing board mate – was Rich on Wallis – the doubts around whether he'll tag or not have him out of my team by the skin of his teeth for now

      Gordo · 30/03/2015 at 20:53

surely they won't use him to tag with libba going down

    Booma · 30/03/2015 at 22:59

Don’t think Beveridge will run much of a tagger at the Doggies & agree they need Wallis as an extractor in & under this year with no Libba.

Dyno Mite · 30/03/2015 at 20:31

Jock after missing last year's season I come back to the game very wary of how much things have changed….i also note that most of the successful premium defenders of last year lost their eligibility and combined with an absence of solid rookie options it's making things hard in defense. However, I will not resort to mid-priced madness. I believe that the key to success this year will be making guns and rookies work, and a bit of luck.

For me rucks must be sorted before r1 – I will be choosing two high class premiums.

I reckon you have to choose your tried and tested…..higgins and the like will only be more "burn man…welcome" as crouching would tell you.

I take the most enrichment from an article of yesteryear called "Art of Trading" from the archives. If you can learn anything from that, it is that trades and not necessarily your starting line up will determine how successful you are in the competition. POD's are important, but so is discernment.

    Random · 30/03/2015 at 22:52

Nice comment, every now and again I read a intelligent comment and it always has one thing in common, no one responds to it! Users here just seem to want to want advice on their team (clearly don't have own thought process) or respond to it.

But I agree, the trade of trading this season will be what wins the $50,000 with some luck along the way, all the best in 2015

That said the boys at JR are fantastic, I would just love to see some better, more insightful comments

    Locked and Loaded · 31/03/2015 at 10:27

Making your rookies work is the same theory I have for this year. Yes they may not appreciate down back as we'd like but with smart trading they can still be turned into a reliable consistent defender. Great comment. Proven players are the way to go even fallen premiums scare me… they have fallen for a reason!

    kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 11:20

Agree Dyno, have gone for the traditional guns and rooks. Ended up with a 4424 structure and expect these 14 to be keepers. Managing rookie trades and getting early rewards is the key. Injuries are always going to throw spanners into the works and some contingency plans should be part of your strategy, but, planning for failure/injury is not the way to win this thing. Plan for success and pounce when opportunities arise.

matty · 30/03/2015 at 20:32

No higgins?

KJU FC · 30/03/2015 at 20:33

Love the team Jock, absolute brilliance!
what are your thoughts on Geary? Looking to do with him what youre hoping to do with Ibbotson/Goodes.

FearTheBeard · 30/03/2015 at 20:35

I'd really appreciate a few people to give me some comments on the team I currently have and a few questions.

I'm running with

Shaw, Murphy, Newnes, Goodes, Oxley, Saad, McIntosh, Hamling

Pendles, Fyfe, Beams, Parker, Wines, Griffen, Crips, CEY, Heeney, Miler, Krak

Goldstein, Maric

Gray, Bartel, Martin, Salem, Clark, Lambert, Daniel, Lamb

My main questions is do I lock in Selwood and downgrade Dusty or Bartel to Swan.

Do I run Selwood over Pendles?

I'm happy with rucks, and defendes as long as 2 rookies play. Forward line I'm satisfied with other then if I run Swan or go for the 3 prems in Gray, Bartel, Martin.

Cheers guys.

    Tulendeena · 30/03/2015 at 20:44

Do you have enough money to downgrade martin to swan and upgrade wines to jelwood?

Because if you do, that's what I would do

      FearTheBeard · 30/03/2015 at 21:17

Interesting idea. I think I could just though I think Wines is gonna be a good pick this year.

What about downgrading Pendles to someone else and picking up an upgrade elsewhere? I've also thought about rolling the dice on GAJ over Pendles and a downgrade somewhere like Dusty to Swan.

        Bonters · 30/03/2015 at 23:58

Yep I reckon Pendles to GAJ and Dusty to Swan. Big fan of the Wines selection

Gordo · 30/03/2015 at 20:39

feedback please. tear it apart
DEF shaw, newness, rampe, savage, goodes, brown (goddard saad)
MID pendelbury, fife, selwood, griffen, wallis(stepping stone to gaz) newton, cripps, cey (heeney vandenberg, lambert)
RUCK maric, naitanui (cox)
FWD gray martin swan bounty salem clark (hogan daniel)
169500 left in the back for mission get gaz back in as quick as possible if his shoulder holds up, i believe he will fall bait and wallis will rise (hoping for a straight swap but highly doubting that will be possible)

Simmo, Heater or Gibbo as D1?

    Redgumwon · 31/03/2015 at 10:56

Tom · 30/03/2015 at 20:47

Jock, very poor hitout to advantage numbers for Lycett does not bode well, only 19% were to advantage, 4th lowest % of the top 50 ruckmen by hitouts per champion data. This will eat into any gain he main otherwise experience through increased game/ruck time with Cox out and Nicnat hobbled

    Marco_Polo94 · 30/03/2015 at 20:58

History says lycett scores well with nic nat playing tho.

    Vince · 30/03/2015 at 21:04

Yer not keen on Lycett at all you have two set and forgets in maric and Minson so ditch Lycett 🙂

      Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 08:08

You can't go into a season without some form of ruck cover. Ruckmen miss games all the time. You'll be forced into wasting valuable trades to avoid the donut.

        Brett · 31/03/2015 at 09:51

Sarah what is Lycett in your forward line? F4?

          Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 09:59

F4. I used far too many trades in the ruck last year because of '1 week injuries or resting'. I'm adament I won't be doing it this year, especially with only 1 ruck bench position. The odds of picking the playing rookie are pretty slim… mostly because there isn't anyone who's put their hands up.

            Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:08

Any chance of you posting your team? You have some great knowledge and would love to have a squizz at your team?

              Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 10:27

              Sure Brett, just for you!

Def:Simpson, Shaw, Kelly, Newnes, McIntosh, Saad (Oxley, Brown)
Mid:Pendlebury, Fyfe, Beams, Griffin, Newton, Cripps, Heeney, Sinclair (Anderson, Ellis-Yoleman, Miller)
              Ruck:Goldstein, Maric (O'Brien)
Fwd:Gray, Bartel, Swan, Lycett, Clark, Lambert (Lamb, Steele)

Rookies are of course subject to selection!!

                Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:30

                Beautiful team

                  Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 12:21

                Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:30

                No Goodes?

                  MangroveJack · 31/03/2015 at 10:47

Has Goodes been elevated off the rookies list?

                  Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 12:19

I've got the money for him, but I prefer cheaper rooks who I think will have a similar average. With Goodes's age, he isn't in the dogs long term plans, but purely as injury cover. If Hamling and Goodes are in the round 1 team I'm picking Hamling.

                  Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 12:23

You'll notive that the Pies and Bulldogs are all playing Saturday night. It's the perfect opportunity to evaluate whether Hamling, Goodes, Oxley and Brown are playing and whether any of them are starting as the sub before locking anyone in. The supercoach gods have actually been kind there!!!

                    Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 12:24

The same thing goes for Karnezis, Daniel and Lamb in the forward line.

            Redgumwon · 31/03/2015 at 11:02

I hear what you are saying about ruck cover Sarah. The same thing happened to me as well last year. Far to many trades burnt on ruckmen. I'm looking to bring in a fwd / ruck in when and if players like Ryder drop in value. It also lets me see their form before drafting them. I'll be doing the same thing for Lycett or Bellchambers.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and what other peoples thoughts are on this theory?

              kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 11:31

Agree with you on this one Redgumwon, this sounds like a much better option. Only burn one trade to get ruck cover, if needed, and put a proven scrorer in. Patience people, the rucks will last at least half a season surely?

                Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 12:21

Ryder lasted 2 rounds before missing a game, Mumford lasted 3 before missing 5 (ish). If there is a lesson I took out of last season it was this: Don't underestimate the value of decent ruck cover.

                  kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 13:35

Why Lycett then Sarah, why not Zac Clark? He will play all games, $407k and will get you 80 pts per game. L

                    Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 13:45

Because Cox has retired and Lycett averaged 96 when paired with either Cox or Nic Nat last year, and 52 when he played with BOTH Cox and Nic Nat in the team. He's priced at 77, so is underpriced. With Cox's retirement, he'll become the preferred second ruck. Nic Nat is also looking a little shakey from his 1 NAB game. I know NAB form can be taken with a grain of salt but he was coming off a bit of a back injury.

                    Anyway, that's my thoughts.

Clarke isn't a bad option either, but I can't see the same scope for improvement this year… maybe after Sandilands retires…

                    kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 13:52

Lycett will be the new ruck find of the season, I agree on that one. I just can't come to terms with not putting a keeper at F4 with my 4424 structure. I need rookies to generate cash to fill the last 8 spots on the field, and with the inevitable trade adjustments, need as many trades as I can get to achieve 22 top class players by year's end. I'm going with two premo rucks and, maybe, get forward cover if required.

                    Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 14:16

Everyone has different ideas on how to select their team. I'm not saying mine is the right way to go, but it is for me. I could quite easily turn Lycett into Martin, but having decent ruck cover is a non-negotiable for me this year so I'm not. Lycett will be the last one to be moved to the forward bench after my upgrades. As the NAB series closed, I'm leaning more towards the midfield rookies than the forward rookies. This also makes me more comfortable slotting Lycett in this position. It's pre-round 1, no one is right or wrong yet!!!
I've enjoyed this discussion kevwal, thanks!

                    Redgumwon · 31/03/2015 at 14:48

That's fair enough Sarah and you're right we all have different idea's on team structure. I'm looking more at scoring mid type players that will score better than key position or rucks early. As they are needed and their price drops I'll bring them in.

                    kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 15:12

Great debate gentlepeople. I was burnt later in the season last year due to slow start building some midprices into premos. Not enough points early set me back come the end of the year. Closed fast, but not fast enough You were burnt with rucks Sarah, I was burnt with a slow start.

          SCOTLAND THE BRAVE · 31/03/2015 at 14:47

Sarah no Salem? I think u may have missed one there

            Redgumwon · 31/03/2015 at 17:12

I've got Salem in my side, but with him will come great reward or a house of pain.

kooney · 30/03/2015 at 20:48

any feedback would be great fellas….. still few positions I am contemplating…

DEF shaw newness KK goodes brown saad (Oxley McIntosh)
Mid pendles fyfe lewis danger wines griffen rich cripps (yolmen miller heeney)
R goldy minson (cox)
FWD gray martin swan salem clark lambert ( Daniel krak)

thinking may need to sacrifice a mid for a more solid option like Gibson in DEF

Nash · 30/03/2015 at 20:49

Hey jock, loving the team mate and your not the father for nothing. Just wondering if you could give me some feedback on my team. Thanks mate

Def: Shaw, Gibson, R.Murphy, Newnes, Goodes, Saad (Mcintosh, Goodard)
Mid: Gaz, Pendulbury, Fyfe, Danger, Judd, Cripps, Henney, Elise- youlmen ( Vandenberg, miller, krakour)
Ruck: Goldy, Maric (Read)
Fwd: Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (lamb, lambet) $52,000 left over

If I could get yours or the community's feedback that would be great. Thanks

    JoeWoolcock · 30/03/2015 at 21:51

Nice looking side Nash, loving Murphy at D3. Just one question, do you see Judd as a keeper if you've already got Gaz? Vandenberg won't be elevated pre-round 1 but other than that I don't see any big holes.

      Nash · 30/03/2015 at 22:23

Thanks joe, I have been looking at judd this whole preseason and I recon he will be a keeper for in between 5 – 10 weeks, I would be lucky to hold onto him to the bye rounds but I think I will be upgrading him to a fallen premium around round 5 – 10

Tyler · 30/03/2015 at 20:50

Anyone else not going with Shaw?
I've gone with Simpson instead purely because I think he will play more games than shaw, and is worth the extra 15k even if his price drops a bit

    Phil · 30/03/2015 at 22:13

I'm in the Simpson boat with ya Tyler, it's a pretty small boat though compared to that Shaw one!

      Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:02

I’m going with Shaw with the hope that he brings his average up now that GWS will really be up n running this year and the fact that Simpson tends to dip in price at some stage of the season so all in all I think Shaw has more potential this year but will deffaintly look at Simpson as a upgrade target

    yurkins · 30/03/2015 at 22:59

prefer simmo too. its gonna be a POD if you can imagine

oliverfisher · 30/03/2015 at 20:51

Thoughts on Scott Selwood as a bit of a smokey? Should play round one and can rack up the pill, or would it be better to go down to someone like Wallis or Rich, going in without Abblett and Pendlebury at the moment which may be a concern.

    KJU FC · 30/03/2015 at 20:53

Pretty sure Adam Simpson said that Scott will play a tagging role this year so it may be best to stay away

      oliverfisher · 30/03/2015 at 21:08

      just found this article

But then again he did average 104 in 2012 as a tagger, so maybe it could work out.

        randomcliche · 30/03/2015 at 21:30

Doesn't comply with da mad irishman's rules. Wasn't in full training from 1 Feb = out. Along with his team mate Nic Nac.

      yurkins · 30/03/2015 at 23:01

scooter is underpriced and a great stepping stone. brilliant get,

injury only thing a bit wary of

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:19

I like the idea of Scooter a hell of a lot. He's always had a stopping or run with role so I wouldn't let that put you off too much as he still finds plenty of the footy himself and is a tackling machine.

At $430K he's a steal and probably $100K underpriced. He started 2014 priced at around $550K iirc and appears to be finally fit and firing if NAB 3 was any indication.

      shezza · 31/03/2015 at 05:29

I’d find a little more coin and get Jack Steven in. Look at his TOG in the NAB series. An absolute pig

SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 20:54

I really like your defence Jock probably because it's virtually identical to my own except I may take the punt on Prince Harry rather than Taylor. I see you couldn't squeeze one of your personal favourites in Enright back there.

In fact I can't really call you out on any of your selections or non selections but then again you are the Father of Fantasy.

I was disappointed by Rich when I picked him after a huge preseason back in 2013 and he failed to go to the next level once the real stuff got underway but perhaps his role will change in the Hanley void. He will make money though it's just a question of whether it will be $100K or $200K.

    Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:05

Out of rich Wallis and wells I reckon wells is the best safe option but Wallis has a lot of potential if he dosnt tag

Willy · 30/03/2015 at 20:54

Jock, love the look of your team. So much to go off from you boys. Do you think Rich may become Pendles or someone similar early on in the season? How long would you hold onto him? I've got him at D6 too.

    Marco_Polo94 · 30/03/2015 at 20:57

Virtually impossible to say at this stage Willy. You hold on to them until they appreciate enough to move onto a fallen premium. Or perhaps you keep them if they are scoring that well. All just depends on how they go.

      randomcliche · 30/03/2015 at 21:32

If they can't crack 110 they are stones bro…just a matter of time

Tom · 30/03/2015 at 20:56

What is your strategy to cover Heath Shaw for the 4 games he will miss this year with hamstring/betting/discipline/car crash with Didak issues? Will you look to get in 7 premiums by season's end in defence, a swing man from the midfield or will you spare a fat rookie lamb the slaughter and keep them on the bench all year?

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:33

It's a legit concern for Shaw owners as he hasn't played 20 games in over 8 seasons. It may seem not bad averaging around 18 games a season but you will definitely feel the pinch during those 4 or 5 missed games if that happens again.

He just looks in such fine preseason form it's hard to turn down especially when we are light on defensive premium alternatives in 2015.

      harry · 30/03/2015 at 23:52

although if he didn't get knocked out by tippett last year, would have played 21 games and be 2nd highest average for defenders

        SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:01

I guess that's kind of Tom's point that something always seems to happen with Heater that causes him to miss those 4 or 5 games even a Tippo KO but perhaps the fantasy gods will smile on Shaw owners this season.

I certainly hope that's the case as I'm prepared to back him in myself.

          Tom · 31/03/2015 at 10:42

Correct, had Shaw played 20+ games even half of the last 7 years I would lock him in no questions asked, as it is I am going with Simpson who as I have previously argued averages similarly to Shaw but basically never misses games.
In the last three years, although Shaw has averaged more than Simpson (96.9 to 94.8), Simpson has outscored Shaw by 643 points as he has played an extra 8 games (63 to 55). As the name of the game is total points not average scores this makes a big difference.
Shaw has missed 30 games over the past 7 seasons, an average of more than 4 per year. Simpson by comparison has missed just 3 over the past 9 years (all as a result of a Sharrod Wellingham induced broken jaw that he took just 3 weeks to return from).

          shane · 31/03/2015 at 20:53

Tom mate dont forget the rookie scores for those 8 games. The differenxe is much closer than you think.

killakombo · 30/03/2015 at 20:57

Jock.. no Mitch Clark and no room in your structures to get him in? this concerns me…

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 21:04

Felt it was important to send a message to young Mitch killa.. have a squiz at the article old mate.. (a likely late inclusion)

Jake L · 30/03/2015 at 20:59

G'day Jock. How relevant is Oxley and even Maynard now with Keefe's and Thomas' balls are in asadas vice. Out of the Pies rookies who do you see playing?

    Marco_Polo94 · 30/03/2015 at 21:04

Could be wrong, but i don't think it plays a part in their selections. Different positions if I'm not mistaken to Keefe and Thomas.

      Jake L · 30/03/2015 at 21:31

agree but those two( keefe and Thomas) are best 22. Can see potential for mew and different names bobbing up at cwood this year and names thAt have been forgotten being remembered like Karnezis and Scharenberg when he's fit

I N Pieman · 30/03/2015 at 20:59

I think Clark will outscore hogan & lamb chop combined. Bemused why the Reynolds folk won’t pick him. Maybe there is method to the madness. In the famous words of Pauline Hansen “please explain”

    jockreynolds · 30/03/2015 at 21:03

Left a note for young Mitch up in the article old mate 😉

      I N Pieman · 30/03/2015 at 21:19

Our opinions on Shaun Higgins will never differ my friend. Thankfully neither of us was sucked in by the gift trying to convict us he’s going 110+ this season. Flog!

    r2d2 · 30/03/2015 at 21:14

Clark my f6……locked ! Will give enough output early doors I think

Gold Rush · 30/03/2015 at 21:01

Sorry Jock but that team has a tad of a 'Ben Dover' feel to it! Gonna make for some interesting Podcasts!

    Gold Rush · 30/03/2015 at 21:18

Hope I don't get to feel your pain. But good luck and I hope it goes well.

Tyler · 30/03/2015 at 21:03

Is Dane Swan a keeper, or should you start him in your team and trade him out later on, IF he gets back to prem?

    Gold Rush · 30/03/2015 at 21:17

Time will tell, we should know within the first month.

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:43

I certainly wouldn't be in any hurry to trade him out unless he gets injured or in the unlikely event he stinks things up.

    harry · 30/03/2015 at 23:49

not a keeper, if you stupidly start with him, trade out after anzac day

    @TylerCArmstrong · 31/03/2015 at 01:38

Yeah should be a keeper Tyler. The 6th highest scoring forward should average roughly 102, and I think Swan should reach that average comfortably.

      harry · 31/03/2015 at 02:45

      very optimistic

        Deadly · 31/03/2015 at 11:10

The Egg · 30/03/2015 at 21:05

Awesome team jock, liking lycett, if you make the right trades throughout the season you may just be lucky enough to finish second overall at end of year……right behind me 🙂

Gordo · 30/03/2015 at 21:06

top work jock would hate to think how much time you put into this for us to read

pick two wallis wells rich or newton looking for quick cash generation with out losing a lot of points currently have 169500 left in the bank with wallis and newton, aiming to bring in gaz when i know his shoulder is ok and hopefully he drops a fair chunk. am i better leaving it with wallis and newton and hoping gaz gets sub and drops 100k over a few price changes and wallis goes up the same (wishful thinking) or burn two trades and start with wallis/wells/rich

    Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:09

    Do you have Cripps ?
If you don’t have Cripps go him over Newton
Wells is a better scorer then rich but Wallis has a lot of potential if he dosnt tag

r2d2 · 30/03/2015 at 21:11

Thoughts on jaksch? From blues

    Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:10

throttlefinger · 30/03/2015 at 21:17

You are the father of fantasy, so I take it with this line-up you are giving us all a master class on guts and plums. Because that, my friend, is a guts and plums team.

Seems to go a bit heavy on the discounts premos (well, excluding Rich would is a career midpricer). Think having Griff as your M3 and not your M4 could be the weak link, in my humble opinion. It puts a helleva lot of scoring pressure on Swallow, Judd and Rich. Man, are you going to miss the consistency of Pendles.

But again, I'm a SC son basking at his father's feet. Best of luck, old man. Keep the tinny stock extra high this season.

RobDog · 30/03/2015 at 21:26

Love the team Jock. Is the only one so far with any ruck cover, everyone else including me at this stage has set & forget with the hope noone gets injured. You're right though, bloody big risk this year.

If the Bombers get weeks would you look at McKernan?

Sticking with a slightly more GnR strategy myself but good onya and good luck.

Rowan_ · 30/03/2015 at 21:42

Size of the plums on old Jock!

Quick question for the community.

Do you prefer:

a) Higgins and Lumumba
b) Gibson and Kolodjashnij

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:48

That's a line ball call for me. All these guys have some ? hanging over them for one reason or another. If pressed for an answer I'd probably go a) but only just.

      Rowan_ · 30/03/2015 at 21:57

Thanks SCaddict. I'll probably chop and change a few times more before lockout…
I appreciate the response mate. Good luck for the season ahead!

        randomcliche · 31/03/2015 at 00:44

SCaddict nailed it as usual. All got plenty of variance both ways. (disclaimer, have Gibson, but not the other 3).

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 22:49

easily b for me. higgins and lumumba burnmen

    Blueprime · 30/03/2015 at 23:10

    None of the above.

    Tony · 31/03/2015 at 09:42

Could easily see an argument being mounted both ways, but Gibbo and KK for mine. Think the gift will not score as well in the real stuff and Higgins is prone to snapping a heartstring.

Gibbo I think will be freed up as much as possible this year by the Hawks to create. Suns have a soft early draw and Malcho will receive defensive tag. Can see KK breaking out a little with little attention.

    Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 10:58

I would go with B as well, Gibson will be free to roam for a while at least until Birchall comes back, the only times Gibson won't score well is if he is used as a shutdown player sometimes, and KK will be in the be in the midfield a lot more

Sean · 30/03/2015 at 21:45

Thoughts on James Kelly as a POD?

    SCaddict · 30/03/2015 at 21:56

A very decent POD. Like his bud Enright his average has been in gradual decline but he could more than hold his value with decent midfield minutes.

Durability has also been an issue lately and is a good chance of being rested at some point even if the body holds up.

    Redgumwon · 30/03/2015 at 22:06

Scott has said Kelly will spend more time in the midfield along with Jimmy Bartel. I've got both in my side

    demon · 30/03/2015 at 22:43

    yep a great pod,
if your looking to slide down the rankings that is

      @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 22:51

how? Will average at least 90 this year.

        Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:13

Don’t think he is much of a POD seen him picked in a lot of teams

    Jacob · 31/03/2015 at 00:01

Looks decent. More midfield time which will definatelty be a recipe for at least a 90 average. 95 from 60% TOG in NAB 1 and 104 from 70% in NAB 3. Hes definately in my team.

James · 30/03/2015 at 21:49

Hi community,

Can you please help me out with my team. I think it is okay but there is always room for improvement. I have 26k left over.

DEFENDERS: Shaw, Newnes, Higgins, Ibbotson, Henderson, Saad (Edwards, McKenzie)

MIDFIELDERS: Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Griffen, Rich, Cripps, Heeney (Vandenburg, Ellis-Yolmen, Freeman)

RUCKS: Minson, Natanui (Brooksby)

FORWARDS: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lambert (Daniels, Krakouer)

    Redgumwon · 30/03/2015 at 22:02

I like it and I love all the guns in the midfield. You've put together a handy side there

      James · 30/03/2015 at 23:47

      Thanks mate

Tom · 30/03/2015 at 21:49

What if I told you that Minson's record without Griffen is almost as bad over the past 3 years as Liberatore's record without Griffen. Is that something that you might be interested in?
Over the past 3 years, without Griffen, Liberatore averaged 88.2 compared to 101.3 in all games. Minson averaged 90.9 compared to 101.3 in all games.
In addition, the change to the ruck rules will result in a drop of 8.1 points per game if Minson's ruck statistics match last year's.
Add to this the absence of Liberatore and it's unclear who Minson will actually be able to hit the ball to to get a hitout to advantage,
I would select Nicnat, despite recent health concerns, average 120.1 in the 5 games Cox missed last year.

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:09

Certainly some food for thought there. Still at $500K I reckon Mino is reasonably priced although he won't make my own squad.

      randomcliche · 31/03/2015 at 00:53

Yum. Delicious. Thanks Tom. Makes me feel happy about not having him.

Thomas and Keeffe = Lock

Redgumwon · 30/03/2015 at 21:54

Ok the whole side has been rehashed after all the new article at the site. What do you guys think of this side?

def: Shaw, Kelly, Newnes, Henderson, Goodes, Saad, Edwards, Hamling

mids: GAJ, Fyfe, J. Selwood, Parker, Wines, Wallis, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen, Heeney, Vanderberg, Steele

rucks: Maric, Minson, Read

fwds: Gray, Bartel, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan, Lamb, Lambert

Mitchell · 30/03/2015 at 21:58

Tom Mitchell or Taylor Walker?

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 22:52

It says it in your name

      Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:15

Walker could be good stepping stone

Wouldn’t touch mitchell with a 10 foot pole

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:15

I'm not wildly keen on either but would probably go Tex for his JS. Titch is somewhat of an enigma. His game is extremely SC relevant but he nevertheless struggles to hold down a spot in the Swans star studded midfield.

He may need to switch clubs before we can see his full potential which pains me to think that as a Swans supporter.

    Mitchell · 31/03/2015 at 23:12

    cheers lads

Rangtastic · 30/03/2015 at 22:00

Your team worries me Jock….but so does mine……as you keep telling us your a genius so I’m going to trust in your wisdom.

Thoughts on my team would be appreciated.

Backs: Gibson, Shaw, Newnes, Higgins, Geary, Goodes, Saad, McIntosh.

Mids: Rockcliff, Fyfe, Griffin, Swallow, Scott Selwood, Cripps, Newton, Ellis Yomen, Heaney, Vandenberg and either Lambert or Miller.

Rucks: Mumford, Goldstein, Cox

Forward: Gray, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Mitch Clarke, Lamb, Kracker, Daniel

Am I going to strong in the ruck department I like the idea of not having to change them injuries no withstanding. I like Scott’s ability to get the pill I can afford Stevens but worried about the tag. I almost got rid of Mumford and went with Minson, but how good is Mumford on his day. If Bellgamblers plays could get Minson and another Rookie in defence upgrade lamb to Bell.

I think that back line strength is important as I can see some bargains there.

    PreviouslyOnLost · 30/03/2015 at 22:16

I like your team. Bennell is flying under the radar and I'm so close to getting him. Opting for dusty and bartel atm.

I too have had Rockliff in my team, but recent reports say he is going to play more time up fwd due to more midfielders to rotate through? I don't know if rocky is just joking, but i've been put off. I also reckon it's a huge risk to go in with 3 of grifin/swallow/selwood. Maybe try and get some cash elsewhere to upgrade selwood to an ultra premium like a pendles, beams etc?

I'm an eagles supporter and I don't see scott selwood as a relevant pick. Much prefer to take risk at sheuy at that price. Selwood will most likely tag throughout the year.

      jim · 30/03/2015 at 22:27

Not the article says – he is going to contribute more to the FWD line (more goals) – Plus Beams gets first tag. Get Beamsy in as soon as Hanley comes in, he'll cop it till hanley comes back.

Rocky is your set and forget captain.

      Booma · 30/03/2015 at 23:25

People worried about Rocky & GAJ playing more FWD time… Both are more than capable playing FWD with a potential for 3-4 goals a game. If they can average 3 goals/game & 20-26 possessions surely they will still pump out 125-130 consistently. Thoughts community??

        Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 11:14

Add Fyfe to that list, saw a thing about him maybe playing forward a bit or attacking more

Shirt front · 30/03/2015 at 22:00

I didn’t set out to do so but somehow I have ended up with a predominately guns and rookies side. My concern or question is how much salary cap do I need to leave up my sleeve to later upgrade some cash cows and rookies during the season at the moment by chance I have managed to spend every cent and with a couple days left to final lockout I am starting to get concerned I should leave a couple hundred thousand for upgrades in the future please help someone any ideas???

    Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:17

No point leaving cash in the bank as that cash on the bench could be scoring points for you week in week out

    gazza_for_coach · 31/03/2015 at 01:25

A ship in the yard is safe but thats not what ships are ment for

Shaun c · 30/03/2015 at 22:09

I always thought you were a genius Jock and now I know… Cause this is the exact same structure I’m running with 😉

Vinnie · 30/03/2015 at 22:14

I'm not sold on Ibbotson, Jock. I think you may have overlooked Geary or Vlaustin. Even Taylor Hunt will see enough of it and give you an extra $80K to spend.

I'd consider making Swan earn it and put Dahlhaus in his place for $28K more. He'll see more midfield this season, as the Doggies will clear the 50m FWD arc often for their tall marking forwards

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:25

Ibbo is definitely a speculative pick coming back from an injury ravaged 2014 but his scoring ceiling is high averaging nearly 95 in 2013.

Jock mentioned in Sunday's podcast that he's very keen on Geary so rest assured he hasn't overlooked him, just making a tough choice as all Supercoaches have to do.

Perhaps Vlastuin can have a breakout season and then again perhaps he won't. Trying to accurately predict who the breakout contenders will be from the mere pretenders is a tricky business at best. At least Ibbo has proven he can deliver premium output when up and running.

    cow roll · 31/03/2015 at 02:35

Heard from a Tiger's supporter that Damien has said Vlaustin will be tagging this year

Ibbotson is a good player. I worry about his past injuries as some Achilles and calf injuries are chronic. if that is case, he will always play with some niggling pain and the chances of re injuring is high

jim · 30/03/2015 at 22:15

Which one do you perfer?

    Vinnie · 30/03/2015 at 22:29

Lycett, I'm a fan and he trained with the big dick himself….no better teacher than that

stickman · 30/03/2015 at 22:19

lycet was my smokey ya mongrel Show a few more balls and pick Higgins and wallis

    randomcliche · 31/03/2015 at 00:56

Love it. You and Sarah both had him. At one point he was my R1! Lols.

jimmydowland · 30/03/2015 at 22:23

Thoughts on Harley Bennell at F3 and Swan and F4 jock??

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 02:12

I think we've all been waiting for Bennell to grab the competition by the scruff of the neck with the flashes of brilliance we've seen and his obscene level of talent.

He hasn't really fulfilled that potential thus far but perhaps this is the year. With DPP eligibility this season there are plenty worse picks out there but not for me and my structures.

Phil · 30/03/2015 at 22:23

I'm copped an absolute bashing for my TBC pick so far this season, but having the father of fantasy in my corner has been reassuring…. What no TBC? Do you know something the rest of us don't?
To be honest I understand, it's easier to plan without him and be given extra cash than the other way around. As such, I've traded him out for Maric. Poor guy he's lasted all pre aseason floating between F4 and R2 and now 1 day before the verdict he's on the outer.

    randomcliche · 31/03/2015 at 00:57

read the commentary and notes bud.

jim · 30/03/2015 at 22:25

Sidebottom or Pendles?

Or any midfielder under Rocky's price besides (Ablett, Barlow, Lewis)

    JoeWoolcock · 30/03/2015 at 22:51

Sidebum might well overtake Pendles this year, but that's a long shot so Scotty's the safe pick. Besides them there's JPK, Parker, Dangerfield

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:31

I'd go Pendles but also like Beams, JPK, Priddis and Parker.

Blube · 30/03/2015 at 22:29

Thoughts on masten and yarran?

    JoeWoolcock · 30/03/2015 at 22:56

Finally, someone's mentioned Masten! I think OldOcker's spreadsheet showed a standard dev. of 54 one year (means he's bloody inconsistent!) but man the guy's a jet on his day. He's had a great NAB Challenge and if he can break that barrier he might be one of the picks of the season. Probably the biggest POD of all, actually…

What do you guys think?

    nick · 30/03/2015 at 22:50

lucey will not play a game for the cats not this year

    Jacob · 30/03/2015 at 22:53

Nice looking team mate. Its definately a risk starting with TBC, but i think its taking a risk worth taking, especially with Kruezuer (will return in round 4 or 5) there to fall back on if TBC goes down. I think you could possibly downgrade Gibson into a rookie (Hamling, McIntosh) and upgrade Lamb to Bartell. To get the cash for that you might need to downgrade free up a bit of cash by sowngrading another rookie. Just a suggestion. Good Luck!

      Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:20

Don’t feel like I need Bartel at this point but deffaintly as a upgrade target

Yes I know Lucey won’t play a game his there for captains loophole if I get an injury to a ruckman will just trade them

nick · 30/03/2015 at 22:43

got a question why pick any carlton player like judd for one his fantasy days are long gone and wont be doing anything this year same as crips don't think he can handle playing a top team griffin will get smashed first game he plays wont touch him and why pick big will and maric sorry I have some better info then u jock that big will is no longer a fantasy pig I have mummy and martin I don't care if I lose cash I would rather get points then money

    Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:22

Last time maric had a full preseason he averaged 112

Also mummy and martin are very injury prone

      nick · 30/03/2015 at 23:42

and he is also very injury prone its a risk I am willing to take mummy has doped 8 kgs and looks really fit and fast and saint Kilda first up 175 there martin the pies no rucks 185 with the new point system etc

        DL123 · 31/03/2015 at 15:51

360 between your rucks in round 1 is very optimistic pal. Mummy will go big, but not that big, and a 185 from Martin is about as likely as Jock picking Higgins

nick · 30/03/2015 at 22:46

and Jessie Hogan please and I notice none of u guys have the nab raising star winner in nakia cockatoo the kid will play every game for the cats tell me who was the las player geelong got in top 10 draft was selwood at 7 and look what happen that year get on him don't pick these players like crips go for cockatoo he is a better player then brad hill faster stronger and Hogan will not even get close to the raising star

    dognino · 30/03/2015 at 22:49

I love reading your posts, you should post more often

      Jayden · 30/03/2015 at 23:24

Cockatoo has to get used too afl before dominating yes his fast but also a very big vest risk in a couple of games
I would love for him to win the nab rising star award and I’m a cats fan

        nick · 30/03/2015 at 23:38

he would be picked ahead of billie smedts cockatoo I think is a player ready I mean when we played joel first of people were a bit worried and he killed it and yeah I don't think scotty would put the vest on cockatoo he is a impact player that's what scotty said

    @TylerCArmstrong · 31/03/2015 at 01:31

    Hahahahaha well said.

    Tony · 31/03/2015 at 09:51

Big call to say he will be better than Brad Hill when he has yet to play a game. I agree they will want to get a few games into him this year but maybe hold off on the lofty predictions until we see how he handles playing with the big boys.

      nick · 31/03/2015 at 15:18

I think he is stronger and faster then hill and unless sniper hodge lines him up but think he has a few tricks in his bow

Keep read, best ruck swinger for loophole.

Move swan to the fwd line and lambert to the mids.

More points on ground for same cash, unless you'd rather field hogan – Think he'll cop a vest myself.

        derek · 31/03/2015 at 09:59

they are both DDP so you can swing them as you like.

Defence is very light., maybe even too risky. You might need to get rid of either Bartell or Martin and down them to T Mitchell or The Bont so you can strengthen your defence.

nick · 30/03/2015 at 22:49

and why have no one got franklin or hawk franklin and hawk will kick 6 or 7 goal first game and take 10 marks just wounding why that's all

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:39

If Buddy played a full preseason and didn't have various niggles I'd strongly consider starting with him like Higgo is planning.

He could really torch the Bombers this weekend although I see rain is forecast and like all KPPs he tends to struggles in greasy conditions. But ultimately those issues I mentioned turn me off starting with him at his $537K asking price.

B-Mac · 30/03/2015 at 23:13

Any merit in the logic of thinking that Gray gets more attention this year, thus making him less viable, while at the same time making Boak more enticing?

Is Gray one of those players not worth trying to nullify? If not, I see him as being the one sides try to get out of the game. Genuinely don't know, so any advice appreciated.

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 23:47

He is an absolute gun and is only going to improve in a side who could win the flag this yr if not come 2nd. Should average 115 this year and must be highly considered.

    Phil · 31/03/2015 at 00:12

Its a good question B-Mac personally I reckon he is very hard to stop because he is such a good forward. A lot easier to stop Boak who doesn't have that extra string to his bow.

    nick · 31/03/2015 at 15:36

I do think gray will get tag big time I am not going with him not this year going with wines instead

    @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 23:52

Not that I know of Jane. Was great in the NAB, and as there are only really 3 other cheap rookie locks this yr, people are filling there M11 with either him or Lambert.

      @TylerCArmstrong · 30/03/2015 at 23:53

Those 3 rookie locks being Heeney, Ellis-Yolmen and Miller.

yeah i agree on lucy as i wont really have any use for read's FWD/Ruck status

Pendles easy. should average around the same, and pendlebury starts a lot cheaper

      Jayden · 31/03/2015 at 01:19

Neither for me as I think Rockliff could suffer from players come back and he could play more fwd
And with pendles just think he could slip a bit this year with a not so good collingwood side this year

Mate liking the Harry L pick i also think he will relish his time @ his new club expect him to be full of run if he can lift his DE% lookout. I also think people could be onto somthing with big will was terrible last year but has shown signs he may be back to his best if so great pick up. Im worried about Heeney getting game time i think vest at best…. i still have him on the bench and i think you can do better than Dalhaus…. isnt bonters cheaper?

      nicko · 31/03/2015 at 07:48

Also concerned with Heeney breaking into the squad. Will watch this space when teams announced. I’ve selected Dahlhaus as I believe he will average 95-100, which I’ll be happy with. Expecting that he won’t be my F2 by the end of year but also think hr might get more ball with a few injuries st the kennel.

Bonters · 31/03/2015 at 00:00

Hmmmm you've got me questioning Pendlebury…. already got GAJ, Fyfe and Selwood so might down him to Beams.

Thoughts community?

Like the team jock , some very gutsy decisions in there , Would definitely go Lycett down to bellchambers and swallow up to 600+ mid premium ( as long as asada works out well for the dons )

stevie · 31/03/2015 at 00:24

Interesting team jock. Get feeling u will get burnt by at least 2 of the 6 old men u have in there, I cant see all of them making a return to their form of old. That being said best of luck to you mate. Anyone still looking for a league join me at 191762

Andrew swallow or ollie wines? As m6

    randomcliche · 31/03/2015 at 01:14

$40k different in cash so the two are very different choices. IMO the difference makes it pretty line ball on VFM basis. (Disclaimer, have and assuming your are talking northmelb swallow)

      Lach · 31/03/2015 at 09:02

I have the money for both just wondering whos a better pick scoring wise. Wines wont get tagged and is playing in a winning side? North are also winning but swallow may get tagged

        derek · 31/03/2015 at 09:09

swallow is VALUE, but I doubt will be a keeper for the season, Wines is fairly priced, but might find himself in top 10-15 midfielders by year end, therefore might be a keeper.
        Wines is in my team.

    Tony · 31/03/2015 at 09:56

Swallow for mine. R13 bye if you are wanting to upgrade him and Port have tough start to the year.

    @TylerCArmstrong · 31/03/2015 at 19:23

I think Wines will average slightly higher, but as Tony said Port have a tough start of the year. Not that keen on either of them tbh.

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 00:59

I'd go with Gibson out of those two as there is a real opportunity for him to be more of a play maker with Lake and now Frawley back there to D up.

If you go with Johno be prepared for somewhat of a roller coaster ride as his scores can really fluctuate week to week.

Thoughts on Will Langford at my M6 instead of Wells or Rich? Roughly the same price, big ceiling, playing in a premiership winning midfield…

    Redd · 31/03/2015 at 00:55

I do like Will hes got truck loads of heart and will produce a few nice scores just unsure on his consistency.

      Jayden · 31/03/2015 at 01:15

Too inconsistent and could suffer from second year Blues

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 09:02

if you are looking for a left field POD from the Hawks, look no further than Brad Hill. Similar price, averaged 75 last year, he could go 95+ this year, Clarko will give him a licence to run!

      derek · 31/03/2015 at 09:03

Langford will get some tagging roles this year

Redd · 31/03/2015 at 00:56

N.Malceski R.Murphy or J.Kelly @D1???

    Jayden · 31/03/2015 at 01:14

Murphy and kell are more like D2/D3 types
    Malceski D1 but overpriced

thewoodsman · 31/03/2015 at 04:01

Nice one Jock, like the Lycett selection in the forward line you gotta put ya balls on the table to get a sniff of the coin thats for sure.
I was wondering if any of the community would take a gander at my mob and pass on any kind of opinion towards it.
$35100 left in the kitty its not locked and loaded but I hope to be getting close.

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 04:29

Shiels is an unusual selection. He was a far more popular pick last season and went on the be a relative success generating well over $100K. It remains to be seen whether he can reproduce a similar price leap this season.

Sloanedog should be a genuine POD elite for you. I don't believe any of the Inner Sanctum have selected him including the Barron although I'm sure some seriously considered him.

I'm not smitten about Freeman on your bench as it could be several weeks before he sees any time in the seniors. However I'm sure you'll tweak your rookies once the teams are announced as we all will do.

      thewoodsman · 31/03/2015 at 08:28

Thanks SCaddict, yeah mate rookies will change and I'm happy with the Sloanedog. Shiel is a punt yes I just think that he might be a radar slipper, with Griffin having joined and Trelor coming on so strong. I thought long and hard about Wines but think Shiel could be a stepping stone for a fallen premium. Thanks for your input mate much appreciated.

Dave2008 · 31/03/2015 at 05:30

I think the Lycett move is too riskly for me and if one of my premium rucks goes down then as mentioned above I would then bring in a dpp f/r or trade in another ruck if its more than a couple of weeks. Any thoughts on my team at the moment. My strategy is to stuff it with as many premiums as possible whilst also trying to find defenders who will be in the top 10 at the end of year such as Kelly

What if it's only 1-2 weeks that your premo ruck is out for? Do you trade or take a donut?

      Dave2008 · 02/04/2015 at 00:03

Good point and then Id maybe look at benching them and bringing in a DPP F/R to switch with Reed depending if I think I can beat my opposition in my league match with a 0

Andy · 31/03/2015 at 05:45

I only count nine keepers in there. You’ll run out of trades before you get a full side together. Too many ifs and whens for mine. Best of luck…..

Would appreciate some feedback please.

Def: shaw, gibson, lumumba, newnes, geary, brown, mcintosh & saad

Mids: pendles, fyfe, selwood, Lewis, griffen, Cripps, Anderson, Ellis yolmen, heeney, miller & lambert

Rucks: godly, nicnat & Reilly

Fwds: gray, Martin, swan, Salem, Clark, Lonie, lamb & lambert

Concerns: n brown – only selected for his job security. Won’t be in the starting lineup of my team but a backup option if needed. Slim forward line, too much spent on defenders

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 08:59

I have a similar team, and am considering going Lumumba down to Goodes and Salem up to The Bont.

FootyFanatic · 31/03/2015 at 08:21

With Ball + Beams no longer at the club, J.Thomas and L.Keef being suspended (drugs) and Greenwood being injured, does this make the Collingwood rookies more relevant? E.g Freeman, Oxly and others

    Kev · 31/03/2015 at 09:54

I reckon so, FF. Impatiently waiting for the teams to drop. If Oxley is named I'll field 2 rookies in defence. Freeman didn't have the best nab cup but the preseason hype over him was ridiculous. He's in my team

    shake n bake · 31/03/2015 at 16:11

    Oxley no Freeman yes

Classongrass · 31/03/2015 at 08:46

Currently my best 3 mids are gaj pendles and fyfe. Not keen on pendles, whos the best premo to change with pendles. Eg beams, jpk, selwood or one of the top premos above 600k. Also is beams a good pick? I believe he'll get tagged over rockliff.

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:26

I'm not a beams fan at all. I did have him in my team last year, but so did everyone else. he seems to be able to find someone else's slipstream. last year it was pendlebury, this year it will be Rocky. Doesn't do the hard lifting imo. But he gets the scores. I think he is fully priced this year, unlike last year when he was the bargin of the year.

Conor · 31/03/2015 at 09:13

ibbotson or geary?

    patty · 31/03/2015 at 09:23

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:23

Ibbotson. Mainly because he is in a better team than Geary. I would be worried if saints get a few heavy losses, there won't be many SC points to share around.

Rick Grimes · 31/03/2015 at 09:18

OK, closing in on a team. Big questions I need answering:

1) Ignoring obvious risks, what do people think TBC can average if he plays every game?

2) Is Sloane a better pick over Danger and is the difference significant?

3) Can I go Thumper over Newnes as D3 and not lose a lot on output?

    patty · 31/03/2015 at 09:23

TBC will be a necessity if he plays for that swing option 80+

Still love danger, and cheaper value this year allbeit no F/MF option this year

Love Newnes enormous upside and D/MF option bonus

    Kev · 31/03/2015 at 09:51

Agree to around 80 is a good figure for TBC. He's hard to gauge as he's never been number 1 ruck or has he produced a full season of scores. Big games and stinkers type of player, not a consistent 80 per game.

I'd prefer Sloane. We've seen what the whole contact on hold saga can do to a players output.

Newnes is a must for mine. I can't recall seeing a team without him

    Adam · 31/03/2015 at 10:05

    Who is thumper

      Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 15:02

      Kade Kolodashnij

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:21

BChambers will average around 70-75. There could be a few <50 thrown in and a few 85+ as well.

The main difference with Slone and danger, is Dangerfield does not have a ceiling, he has potential to go 160+, but with a heavy tag he might also go <75. Slone will knock out his 100-110 every week.

Newnes should be a better pick than KK, but I really like KK this year and thinking he will do ok with Suns soft early draw. I have both.

shezza · 31/03/2015 at 09:27

Jock- no Higgins and no Daisy Thomas. Good to see some of us are fair dinkum in trying to win the $50k.

It is interesting to see that both Malceski and Brodie Smith aren’t picked in a lot of teams. Is this a possible target/upgrade the community are budgeting for throughout the year?

I haven’t seen Sloane picked in a lot of teams either.

As for the rookies, a lot haven’t picked Connor Blakely who held his own in WAFL last year and will get games this year. A lot seemed to have jumped off Freeman.

Sandilands is another I haven’t seen.

*disclaimer….I don’t have gold so I don’t know the exact figures that any player is picked.

    Kev · 31/03/2015 at 09:45

Smith/Malceski overpriced so definite upgrade targets. I'll be aiming for Malceski first.
Agree on Sloane. Many taking Beams at 5k more.
Rookies will change after teams are in. if Blakely/Freeman are named they'll be in a lot of teams.
Sandi has gone off the radar for some reason. Can he string 2 full seasons together?

      shezza · 31/03/2015 at 09:58

That is the $50K question. I’d say with the new scoring for rucks he must be considered.

Sloane is the one I’m shocked the most about as he averaged 22 possessions last year, is a high tackler and with a new coach, I’d say his numbers will increase.

        Josh · 31/03/2015 at 10:11

I've picked Sloane. My mid Premiums are: GAZ, Fyfe, Selwood, Beams and Sloane.

Pendles – doubts about the rest of the team and will come down in price. Rockliffe: role change flagged and too expensive as well. (GAZ however can't be excluded for that reason for the usual reasons) JPK I can't see increasing in output and there is too much competition at the Swans for points for my liking.

I prefer having these three as watch and see potential upgrade targets.

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 13:29

Yeah Sloane just isn't a sexy pick for whatever reason, a bit like Priddis, maybe perhaps because they just get their jobs done with a minimum of fuss and flair.

Richers · 31/03/2015 at 09:31

G'day community. This is most likely going to be my structure given that the Dons dont get any sanctions. Would love feedback.

Def: Shaw, Gibson, Yarran/Lumumba, Newnes, Goodes, Saad (Oxley, Hamling)
Mid: Gaj/Pendles, Fyfe, Danger, Wines, Masten, Newton, Cripps, Heeney (Ellis-Yolmen, Miller, Krakouer)
Rucks: Maric, Goldy (O'Brien)
For: Gray, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark, (Lamb, Lambert)

Rookies subject to selection.

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:10

good team. Masten is a left field pick and I would love to know what you know that everyone else doesn't!

Kev · 31/03/2015 at 09:40

Like it Jock, very ballsy. In fact all the team reveals have been of the firmly plums-on-the-table type. Good message to the community that if you want the 50k take some risks and do away with the safe cookie cutter teams. Wouldn't mind seeing an extra super premium next to Gaz and Fyfe, Griff/Swallow/Judd are favourable risk v reward players but the SC Gods are not going to allow all 3 to smash it.

Not in my team, but I'm with you on Lycett. Nic Nat ain't right and we've seen that he isn't at his dominant best without a preseason behind him. He'll be playing catch up till the byes.

Ox · 31/03/2015 at 09:40

Judge away. Think it’s solid atm.

DEF: Shaw, Johnson, Newnes, Oxley, McIntosh, Hamblig (Saad, Edwards)

MID: Fyfe, Selwood, Parker, Lewis, Danger, Rich, Crips, Ellis-Youl (Heeneg, Vanden, Miller)

R: Goldy, Maric (OBrien)

FOR: Gray, Martin, Swan, Bont, Salem, Clark (Lambert, Lamb)

Backline main concern. Can downgrade Danger to Judd then get Goodes. Or Johnson down to someone and upgrade to Goodes.

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:06

defence is a major concern, especially as we have already identified that the Defence is where this years SC will be won or lost, maybe not won but definitely Lost. I can't see Rich making up for Oxley & McIntosh. I think you might need to downgrade Rich to a rookie (preferable to have a DDP so you can swing the Bont/lambert/gray/swan into the mid). use the cash to get Goodes or even Thumper if you have a bit extra cash.

Brett · 31/03/2015 at 09:57

I believe that Pendles will fall off the pace this year due to the loss of Beams and midfield support. So, who should I get out of Pendles, Fyfe, JPK, Parker

    Sarah · 31/03/2015 at 10:00

Fyfe or Parker would be my picks.

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:08

Parker is the value pick and might give you a bit of extra cash to spend elsewhere without losing to much in points (Miller to Cockatoo type move). fyfe is a beast and it at the same SC level as pendlebury in my opinion.

    Josh · 31/03/2015 at 10:12

    Fyfe, definitely.

    shake n bake · 31/03/2015 at 16:13

Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:12

Thoughts on my team please. I know I don't have ruck cover, but I am unsure of how to squeeze Lycett or Bellchambers into my team.

Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, KK, Goodes, Saad, Hamling, Oxley
Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Griffin, Newton, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen, Miller, Steele, Krakouer
Goldstein, Maric, Read
Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan, Lambert, Lonie

Thoughts please?

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:31

looks good. Rucks and Fwds look like most other teams.

I think a bit of a risk going with both newton and cripps, I think you need to find another bargin rookie that will generate cash. players who start at $210-230k take a lot longer to generate the cash you need to upgrade.

Heeney is the obvious downgrade option.

      Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:43

Thanks Derek, and what do you suggest I do with this spare cash?

        Kev · 31/03/2015 at 11:31

I reckon you could bank it, Brett. No massive holes in your team

        derek · 31/03/2015 at 12:03

if that was my team, I would use the extra $90k to upgrade Griffin to JPK or just bank it ready for your first trades.

Rick · 31/03/2015 at 10:13

Dustin Martin or Goddard?

    derek · 31/03/2015 at 10:33

Can I ask why everyone is picking Reed as captains loop hole when you can pick Lucey for about $7K cheaper? Pocket the savings community

    Brett · 31/03/2015 at 10:43

    Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 14:52

It's also because Read plays after all the common captain choices a lot more often then Cox does, and he has the fwd dpp

    OldOcker · 31/03/2015 at 21:31

Good question shezza, Tyler is right with the VC loophole. If you are going to the last dollar like one of my teams was and I needed the extra couple of thousand then go with the gut feel but it is the best swing set if you can afford it.

ATeam12345 · 31/03/2015 at 10:49

    Very solid.

Hi guys, how is my team looking?

Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba
Ibbotson, Goodes, Whitecross

Steven, Rich, Newton, Cripps

Mumford, Naitanui

Gray, Martin, Swan
Salem, Clark, Hogan
(Lamb, Lambert)

    higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 11:24

Def – good apart from whitecross who doesnt look like being named.

Not too sure on some of your rookie choices but they will vary come Round 1 teams.

White cross to Oxley and use the cash to either plump your rookies or upgrade Griffen or Steven to a premium

      lolattack · 31/03/2015 at 11:43

would you recommend upgrading whitecross to a midpricer like henderson (i've got 123k left) or downgrading to a rookie?

        higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 11:45

        No I wouldn’t

Oxley is looking to be good cow.

I would fix that mid up. That’s the points engine room.

    Kev · 31/03/2015 at 11:27

Not confident in WhiteX or Hogan to post solid numbers. Better options are around. Personal preference is to take one of Newton or Cripps, that's your call though. Mids look a bit light with many expecting Pendles to drop off a bit, along with Danger/Griff/Steven are the maybe could lift their average type of guys

      higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 11:37

I like Pendles. Gets his own ball and uses it well.

But fair point about those 3 other mids. I’m off Griffen. Can’t consistently shake a tag. Best year was when Boyd was getting the hard tag.

Danger also is a #1 tag target who can throw up 60s for you.

Find 150k and upgrade 2 of the 3.

      lolattack · 31/03/2015 at 11:44

considering i've got 123k left, who would be the best alternative for steven/griffen/dangerfield?

Selwood, Sloane, Parker, Callan Ward as a POD.

Cripps and Newton in for hanners and NVB and upgrade Swallow to a super premo Would be a good start.

      I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 11:54

Very good advice Higgs. Yarran is a very good player. But just doesn't seem to be rewarded in SC. NVB in the NAB is a huge concern. Cripps is a way better option at the same price. Id possible Hogan to Salem. Salem will outscore Hogan by some considerable distance.

        higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 12:07

        Agree Salem over Hogan.

        Mitch · 31/03/2015 at 12:08

alright then cheers mate ill make some changes right away i had yarran cause he averaged around 100 in nab cup but i know that he doesnt get scores

        derek · 31/03/2015 at 12:10

Hogan is a really good player, I saw enough of him in the NAB to see that he moves well, takes a jump, works hard (I thought he was taller), he will be a really good player for many years. But as a key forward, and in a poor team, his SC scores will be low. however at his price, his JS is excellent and there will be some cash to be made. Melb have an ok draw to start with, so he might even be an ok selection to be on field.

          Mitch · 31/03/2015 at 12:19

D: Gibson, Newnes, Higgins, Goodes, Dalgleish, Saad (Edwards, McIntosh)
M: Fyfe, JPK, Priddis, Wines, Griffen, Mitchell, Rich, Heeney (Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen, Steele)
      R: Goldstein, Naitanui (O'Brien)
F: Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, Lambert)

        higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 12:09

Mitchell to Newton and use the cash to upgrade that D.

That D makes me feel kinda sick inside.

1 premo short plus having risks in Gibson and Higgins… You have bigger stones than me.

          derek · 31/03/2015 at 12:17

without Gaz in your team I would expect a better defence.

If you are to have t mitch in your team he needs to be at D4, not in midfield. I prefer salem over t mitch, so I can't see a spot for him unless you put salem at D5 and swing Lambert to mids (you can do that now with the DDP). if you traded T Mitch to a rookie, and had Cripps on field, you can upgrade your defence.

you could also squeeze a bit of cash by having Cox instead of O'Brien as F3.

higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 12:20

Thought I would put my money where my mouth is and show my team.

D: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, KK, Ibbotson, Goodes (Oxley, Saad)

M: Jelwood, Sloane, Parker, Ward, Fyfe, Rich, Cripps, Newton (Heeney, CEY, Anderson)

R: Leuy, TBC

F: Gray, Martin, Deledio, Bartel, Clark, Salem (Hogan, Lambert)

Gone a bit cheaper in D and Rucks as this is where the premos are most likely to drop in $ earlier in the season. Rucks are a risk worth taking in my opinion and my out strategy is Ibbo and Ruck to rookie and premo ruck if needed.

    higgs boson · 31/03/2015 at 12:22

    Ahh Swan not Bartel.

Also this is a RDT team not SC – please don’t show up at my door with pitch forks and fire…

kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 12:21

Has Krakour been elevated?

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 13:43

Nope still on Port's rookie list for now just like Vandenberg for the Dees.

derek · 31/03/2015 at 12:29

I hate when I was $200 short. I guess I should have some cash left over, but I'm squeezing every last dollar.

DEF: Simpson, Newnes, Kolodjashnij, Ibbotson, Goodes, Saad (Hamling, Mcintosh)

MIDS: Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, JPK, Wines, Cripps, Heeney, Ellis-Yolmen (Lambert, Miller, Steele)

RUCS: Maric, Nic Nat (Cox)

FWD: Gray, Martin, Swan, Bontempelli, Salem, Clark (Hogan, Krakouer)

Got rid of Goldy, Shaw & Lamb to bring in Maric, Goodes & Bontempelli. good or bad idea?

    Tofor · 31/03/2015 at 14:16

About the same I reckon, but I'd go the first option!

jimmydowland · 31/03/2015 at 12:33

thoughts on lonnie and nathan brown?

    Derek · 31/03/2015 at 13:19

Brown has great JS, not expecting big scores or cash, but will be a warm body on field.

Lonie is a forward in a poor team, won’t get many opportunities

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 13:45

Brown would be a reasonable bench selection if he can stay on the park for 6 or 7 games with that battle ravaged body of his. If so he might make you $100K but I wouldn't expect much more than that given his poor averages in the past.

Brett · 31/03/2015 at 12:47

Gaz will lineup round 1! Rodney Eade said it himself! Lock him in!

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 13:46

Glad to hear it but I still won't be starting with him.

jason · 31/03/2015 at 12:55

Brett · 31/03/2015 at 13:01

Kennedy and Heeney
Griffin Newton

Both rookies will make money, but I like Griff because he will make money as well.

    Derek · 31/03/2015 at 13:22

Don’t get Griffin to make cash, lucky to get $80k increase. Only get him if he is a keeper

    I N Pieman · 31/03/2015 at 13:55

    Kennedy & Heeney

Tofor · 31/03/2015 at 13:08

Hey community,
Would love to hear your thoughts on my team as it stands:

Shaw, Newnes, Geary OR Ibbotson, Goodes, N Brown, J Hamling (Goddard, Saad)
Ablett, Fyfe, Lewis, Parker, Griffen, Rich, Heeney, Ellis-Yolmen (Sheed, Vandenberg, D McKenzie)
Jacobs Goldstein (T Read – to exchange with a RUC/FWD if possible)
R Gray, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Salem, M Clark (T Lamb, K Lambert)

    Derek · 31/03/2015 at 13:23

Whooooooohoooo. That is a massive Ruc. I’m impressed

    Tofor · 31/03/2015 at 15:24

Well with the Bombers off the hook, I think I'll stick with Bellchambers up forward… he's gotta go up in value from where he's at surely..?
Also gonna go with Ibbotson rather than Geary.
Still not 100% on the midfield rookies.. Changed it up to Cripps vandenberg anderson ellis yolmen and heeney…

Are these the best mids? Sheed was also on my list..
Got 35k left in the bank

shezza · 31/03/2015 at 13:21

Can Vandenberg get elevated this week?

    Derek · 31/03/2015 at 13:24

    I’m betting he will

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 13:47

Yes it's possible but the clock is ticking.

      shezza · 31/03/2015 at 15:25

I’ve put him in with Ablett and traded out Pendles and Anderson. I’ve only made about 15 changes since the podcast lol

Nick · 31/03/2015 at 13:39

Have to admit Jock, after months of reading your team has a fair bit of poo to it.

If you would like to join my league i guarantee i will beat you if you get that on the park.

Cheers Nick

Kidding. No change to my structure.

Lucy · 31/03/2015 at 14:09

Pendleberry vs Sidebum vs Priddis vs Beamsy?

Who is the best value for money at seasons end?

kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 14:10

Essendon players found not guilty.

    kevwal · 31/03/2015 at 14:15

Funny, nothing changed in my team. It was either Hibberd or Simpson, still going Simpson D1. Rookies will be interesting though, come game day.

What do people think of Jack Steven?

    Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 14:56

I reckon he's a bloody good pick. At only 455k he certainly won't drop in price, and he's going to be the saints go-to guy in the midfield this year. Only concern is if he gets tagged

Rick · 31/03/2015 at 14:41

Priddis or Sidebottom?

Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 14:52

TBC lock

    northernsoul74 · 31/03/2015 at 14:55

R2 or forward line? Adding him to the forward line takes away a spot for one of the numerous forward rookies.

      Tyler · 31/03/2015 at 15:00

I'm thinking of using him as R2, then when he goes up in price and some of the better rucks have gone down i'll trade him out. BUT many people will use him in F3/4 just for ruck cover. Good pick either way though

Matthew · 31/03/2015 at 15:06

Bombers off the hook boys.

Alex · 31/03/2015 at 15:06

Lamumba or thumper (kade)

Thoughts on Steven? Priced similarly to Judd (30k cheaper).

    shezza · 31/03/2015 at 16:58

I’d have him before Judd anyday. Look at Steven’s TOG in the NAB series and as his TOG increases, so does his possession count. He reminds me of a young Dane Swan.

jimmydowland · 31/03/2015 at 15:50

Defenders: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Ibboston, Goodes, Brown, Hambling, Saad
Midfielders: ABlett, Selwood, Beams, kennedy, griffen, cripps, heeney, ….
Ruck, Minson, Maric, Obrien
For: Gray, martin, swan, bellchambers, salem, clark, Hogan, lamb
6k in bank
Thoughts on team community ??

Cockatoo expensive sub risk. TBC unknown quantity. Didn't see the ruck set up in NAB.

Rick · 31/03/2015 at 16:24

Hi guys. I dont know what has happened today but I have managed to completely change my structure. Its quite a risky team, but I have faith in it. Please give me feedback and rip it to shreds if you must

Def: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Goddard/ Saad, Mcintosh

Mid: Fyfe, Sloane, Sidebottom, Parker, Griffen, S. Mitchell or Chris judd, Wells, Cripps/ Yoleman, Vananberg, Lamber

Rucks: Maric, Bellchambers

Forward: Bartel, Goddard, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan/ Lamb, Caleb

DrSpock · 31/03/2015 at 16:41

G'day community, I'm torn between selecting Judd at M6 or either of Wells, Rich or Wallis.

Judd is a potential keeper if he can average the 105's that he did 3 years ago.

Wells, Rich and Wallis all had great NAB campaigns too and allow me to spend an extra $120 – 150K in the backline, potentially upgrading Goodes at D4 to Ibbotson or Kolodjashnij…

Wells could average 100 if he gets back to career form, Rich could go 90-95 and Wallis 90+ if he doesn't play the tagging role.

Appreciate your thoughts and advice.

    DrSpock · 31/03/2015 at 16:54

    Team so far:
DEF: Shaw, Murphy, Taylor, Newnes, Saad, McIntosh (Oxley, Hamling)

    RUC: Goldstein, Leuenberger (Read)
FWD: Gray, Bartel, Swan, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark (Lamb, Lambert)

Johnny · 31/03/2015 at 16:48

Someone please give me advise on my team any feed back is good, cheers!!!

Def: Simpson, Malceski, Goddard, Maynard, Saad, Shaw (Oxley, Hamling)
Mid: Pendles, Vandenberg, Fyfe, Danger, Rockliff, Heeney, Beams, Cripps (Cockatoo, Ellis-Yolemen, Miller)
Rucks: Martin, Goldstein (Hannath)
Fwd: Clark, Gray, Lambart, Bartel, Lamb, Hogan, (Salem, Membrey)

    sorry 30k cheaper

Doc2Drej · 31/03/2015 at 17:17

Goldy and Minson a better combo than Sauce and Mummy??????

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 18:17

I'd say so in terms of value for money. Paying well over $1.2M for your starting ruck combo is perhaps a tad extreme. Mummy is also a high risk high reward option although that may suit some coaches.

Charlesy · 31/03/2015 at 17:32

Help people! Do I swap mummy out for tbc and spread that cash around? Goldy is a lock for the other ruck spot.

    SCaddict · 31/03/2015 at 18:20

Yeah I'm a fan of the Goldy TBC tandem and plan to start with exactly that myself.

      Charlesy · 31/03/2015 at 19:10

Thanks mate, that’s good enough for me. The SCaddict is another respected voice in the community

Ross · 31/03/2015 at 20:26

I like your Ruck structure Jock, especially Minson and now TBC (not Lycett) in the FWD line since he is cleared. However what do you think of Ryder as R1 for his FWD/RUC flexibility with Minson R2 (Read)

Dave2008 · 01/04/2015 at 04:41

I think the Lycett move is too riskly for me and if one of my premium rucks goes down then as mentioned above I would then bring in a dpp f/r or trade in another ruck if its more than a couple of weeks. Any thoughts on my team at the moment. My strategy is to stuff it with as many premiums as possible whilst also trying to find defenders who will be in the top 10 at the end of year such as Kelly

jimmydowland · 01/04/2015 at 10:40

What’s more important, Daniel rich in the midfield at M6… or Tommy Bellchambers at F4

John · 01/04/2015 at 11:56

Hey Jock,
Great team and love the selections!
With Essendon cleared, will you be selecting Tom Bellchambers or sticking with Lycett as F4?

I am surprised so few have selected Jaensch from the Crows. A few dollars cheaper than Shaw, played every game last year and averaged 90.

Only 2.4% have him.

I think Shaw will revert to type and get a few weeks for snotting someone sometime. Old habits die hard

Seamus · 02/04/2015 at 13:03

Which two do I start with: heeney, Miller, Ellis yolmen, Clem Smith? ??

CJ Wright · 06/04/2015 at 11:40

One quick question for you before the big game today, I’m really struggling over this one.
Hodge or Mitchell?

Interesting reading. So many retrospective midproiced blunders turds you had, Jock. Will the same mistakes be made?
